Speaker 1 (00:20):
WDV Pittsburgh, an iHeartRadio station guaranteed Human.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
The world's largest operating steam locomotive is slowly approaching Western Pennsylvania.
Union Pacific's Big Boy number four zero one four will
be traveling through Alleghany County and make a whistle stop
in Leedsdale. And that is this Saturday, July the eleventh,
as it continues on its coast to coast tour to
celebrate America's two hundred and fiftieth birthday.

Speaker 3 (00:50):
Now take that again, like it's going to kill us.
The world's the world's largest steam book about it is
slowly approaching Pennsylvania. Big Boy is on his way. It's
loaded with toxic waste.

Speaker 4 (01:03):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
The locomotive is expected to arrive at First Street in
Avenue A and Ferry Street at six fifteen pm.

Speaker 4 (01:11):
It has a departure time of six forty five pm,
So you gotta move quick on this one.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
But I do have friends who have already tasted it
out with their kids, and they're treating it like a
Steeler's teel.

Speaker 4 (01:22):
You're just gonna go in and have a good time
with Big Boy.

Speaker 3 (01:26):
It's cool because.

Speaker 5 (01:29):
Brandy Bellman and the DVE Morning Show and Big Boys Bag.
It is a DV morning show. Hi guys, Sorry I
was gone for a while.

Speaker 3 (01:38):
I missed you. Oh my god, oh my get back?
Is everybody okay? What changed?

Speaker 6 (01:43):
The place looks different, you guys grew? Is that what
the studio smells like? When you come home after vacation,
You're like, my home smells like.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
This, Oh my god. Yeah.

Speaker 7 (01:53):
I actually did do that because I left my grot
the not garage, the lid to my garbage in my
kitchen open, like the heads like you know what I mean.

Speaker 3 (02:03):
Yeah, And I didn't empty my garbage on my way
to the top.

Speaker 8 (02:05):
Here.

Speaker 7 (02:06):
It was a nice ransid smell of rotting vegetables. But
I did want to like give you guys a little
welcome back, welcome being back gift. So I was like, oh,
I'll stop at a famous breakfast place and get sandwiches.

Speaker 3 (02:23):
At the drive room.

Speaker 7 (02:25):
And so I did, and I went, I got in line,
and I'm in the drive through line, and I hear.

Speaker 3 (02:32):
Hold on a minute, something'll be with you in one second, Honnie.

Speaker 7 (02:35):
Oh, I'm like okay, And then I hear ay, ay,
he's better stop drinking my coffee.

Speaker 3 (02:46):
And I'm going okay, she doesn't realize the microphone is on.

Speaker 7 (02:50):
Yeah, it's funny with as many people's got the squirtch
in this place, nobody better but he talking about right.
Oh no, so there's not breaking the squirtch. Do I
get the sandwiches? I'm gonna go ahead and make an
executive decision and say no, no sandwiches, no sandwiches.

Speaker 3 (03:14):
Yeah so, but I mean, her voice was hilarious in
the beginning.

Speaker 7 (03:16):
With She's like, hold on, someone will be witchy. Sa ay,
he's stop drinking my coffee. With as many people caught
their squirts terre on his place, I'm.

Speaker 3 (03:27):
Like, squirts are squirts a new menu item that I'm
unaware of. I'll have three. I'll have an orange squirts.

Speaker 4 (03:36):
And thank you for making that very same judgment call.

Speaker 3 (03:43):
Yeah so I got donuts instead. Yeah, we love donuts,
we do, but there's no vegetable and donuts.

Speaker 8 (03:50):
Right.

Speaker 7 (03:50):
So it's like, that's the thing that I'm worried about
now because you know, in my time off, basically what
I did is I spent the last week and change
reading about how we're all going to dive, which sounds fun,
but I don't think it is.

Speaker 2 (04:02):
Actually cyclospori Sporicis.

Speaker 3 (04:06):
You got it? I'm trying to cut weight, so maybe
that'd be good.

Speaker 7 (04:10):
Oh yeah, well I read something yesterday someone who had
it lost six pounds in three days.

Speaker 3 (04:17):
Is that healthy? That is exactly what I'm looking for.

Speaker 7 (04:19):
Yeah, it's a perfect program if you want to just
eat lots of It doesn't even matter if you wash
the vegetables, it doesn't matter. Now you have to cook
them at one hundred and fifty degrees minimum or something
like that.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
Well, this it's happening on vegetables that are very difficult
to clean completely, Like a raspberry is a good example,
or like even some lettuce and things like that. Like
it's just really really hard to get those kinds.

Speaker 3 (04:43):
Of thin membrane berries.

Speaker 7 (04:45):
Yes, they're in the coffee es Friday, but it's blueberries,
strawberries stuff like that.

Speaker 3 (04:50):
No, boy, no, for the time being.

Speaker 7 (04:51):
And I had a big fresh basket of strawberries. I
was just about to dig into them, and then I
just read all the stuff and they're like, don't eat them.
But I'm pretty sure that from a local farm.

Speaker 3 (05:04):
I don't know it.

Speaker 7 (05:05):
The other thing about it that really sucks is when
you get it you don't know for five days, so
it incubates for five days. Yes, so you eat it
and you're fine for a few days, and then all
of a sudden, I'm imagining hot fart, and and then after.

Speaker 2 (05:23):
That, look at that's how you find out, though, is
one hot fart.

Speaker 7 (05:27):
One hot fart is also in the coffee house this weekend.
But it does give you that's the that is the
pathology of the disease.

Speaker 3 (05:36):
Is it gives you a hot fart. That's some side
that's like.

Speaker 6 (05:40):
And zen viget to see hot fox stage.

Speaker 3 (05:43):
I'm telling you right now, this is where it all
goes wrong.

Speaker 7 (05:46):
Right if you feel a hot fart, I'm telling you
right now what's coming here.

Speaker 4 (05:52):
I have no control where you are when that happens.

Speaker 3 (05:54):
And then you just you you really can't.

Speaker 7 (05:57):
You can't tell what's gonna happen you world after that
I would say, is uh phone your neighbors and uh
and tell them to check on you every couple of days,
just to make sure you're still making it.

Speaker 3 (06:08):
Because people are going it's like out of both ends.

Speaker 7 (06:11):
Yeah, it's not just the explosive diarrhea. And it is
so funny to hear all of the news people like
reporting on it with straight faces, and they're going.

Speaker 3 (06:21):
The explosive diarrhea.

Speaker 4 (06:23):
You know that's cause it's it's.

Speaker 7 (06:26):
Not just diarrhea is kind of by definition explosive.

Speaker 3 (06:31):
It's not like.

Speaker 7 (06:31):
John, they're saying, this is the tamous diarrhea they seem
in some time. It hardly explodes, sort of just falls out. Yeah,
but as much as we're laughing, you do not want this.

Speaker 3 (06:48):
I mean, it is bad stuff, dude.

Speaker 6 (06:50):
So what happens, all right, then you get cleared out
and then you regroup and you're fine.

Speaker 3 (06:57):
I'm not sure, you know.

Speaker 7 (06:59):
I've talked to actually saw a buddy of mine over
the fourth at that Clark show up in Erie, which
was great, by the way.

Speaker 8 (07:05):
Fun.

Speaker 3 (07:05):
Yeah, it was very fun, but he was he was
really thin.

Speaker 7 (07:09):
And I was like, dude, drops some mouth beees and
was like had some barbecue and a few like Korean barbecue,
like a couple of years ago. And he never rebounded
from the food poisoning he got from that. And my
sister said the same thing about my niece with an oyster.
She said it took her a year to get all

(07:29):
her gut biome back and everything else. She said because
it was just so exploed, like everything was pouring out
of her.

Speaker 3 (07:36):
She'd go to the hospital.

Speaker 7 (07:37):
It was like, you know the soprano, a tony soprano
episoe where he eats the bad oyster muscles or whatever.
And she said it took a long time. She was
sick for a year, like because her immune system was low.
So I would imagine that this thing just clears out
everything in your system and then you just got to
like sit there eating like cultured you know, kimchi, Yeah,

(07:59):
like kimchi and yogurt every day for for a long
time to start to rebuild all of the stuff that
you're gonna lose, because it's just it's just you just
lose it all. So thanks Elon Musk and Doge for
making that happen for us.

Speaker 3 (08:13):
Awesome.

Speaker 7 (08:14):
Really appreciate that explosive diarrhea. Love it make America duke
again and again and again and again.

Speaker 4 (08:24):
And from the other.

Speaker 7 (08:26):
Side, Yah, I was dreading it. And I'm a vegetable guy.
I like eating vegetables.

Speaker 6 (08:32):
So it's like, yeah, the world, the nation's man children rejoice,
Like this is why I don't need vegetables. Yeah, I'm
actually cutting edge and very smart.

Speaker 3 (08:43):
You're the dummies.

Speaker 7 (08:44):
Yes, well, but beef is the same thing. Really, Yeah,
I guess you gotta gotta make sure your beef is cooked.
They're saying, apparently, now you don't want to be doing
anything too rare, like medium is minimum until this we
figure this thing out. Now that I've only seen twice
that haven't I haven't seen that as prominent as the

(09:04):
one that's like no bag salads. Those are definitely out.
Oh crap, no berries, which was my that's my jam,
no pun intended. And also they say, anythin membran fruit,
you can't just wash it off of vegetables. You have
to cook all your vegetables, So keep that in mind.

(09:26):
I guess you can just boil everything.

Speaker 4 (09:28):
Yeah, I don't know. Now you're gonna throw away a
bunch of stuff.

Speaker 3 (09:31):
Me too.

Speaker 7 (09:33):
That's why I wanted to get you guys breakfast, because
I knew that you weren't gonna want to eat what
you had in your fridge. After I told you that,
then of course I went to the lady who entire
staff and wait.

Speaker 3 (09:45):
As many people got the squirts around.

Speaker 7 (09:47):
Here pre six am squirts talk, Oh, how do you
know you guys served squirts until eleven am.

Speaker 3 (09:53):
Oh it's too late for squirts. Too late.

Speaker 7 (10:00):
Anyhow, it's going to be a glorious day. I know
you guys got to Northside Music Festival. Want to hear
about that. Later, we're going to talk Buckos, who've been
absolutely on fire, and go ahead and wipe up the
Brewers this weekend.

Speaker 3 (10:12):
That's the term, right, wipe this morning.

Speaker 9 (10:15):
It is bad.

Speaker 3 (10:17):
Yeah bad start bad.

Speaker 7 (10:18):
Omen Yeah, sweep they sweep the Brewers there white might
be a better yeah abjective. Not anyways, Kevin Gorman will
also be joining us from the trip to talk about them.
They're buckos. And we've got a Pittsburgh Power Ballad Challenge
finale tonight, which I'm very excited for. We're going to
tape it and it'll air at the end of the week.

(10:39):
And I know you guys played the finalists on Friday. Yes,
some really good entries this year, some people who don't
know how to read instructions or directions about entry, entering
and whether or not they can actually compete. But other
than that, damn good job by the DV listeners again,
and we kind of shoehorn them because we're waiting so

(10:59):
long for the prize to pay off. Our schedule kind
of got pretty tight, and even with that tight window,
the DV listeners came through with a whole new slew
of great Pittsburgh power ballots. What I would like to
do eventually is take all the ones we've gotten over
the last few years and then just make them all
available online.

Speaker 4 (11:18):
Love that.

Speaker 7 (11:19):
That would be sweet, But I'm not sure what the
legality is behind that, Like, did they send YouTube all right?

Speaker 3 (11:27):
So it's like in perpetuity.

Speaker 2 (11:29):
Yeah, I was gonna say they at most, Well, I
think all this submissions had to be uploaded to YouTube,
so we just got.

Speaker 3 (11:35):
A tube it all right? Well, there you go, make
the playlist. Uh yeah, let's get down to it. An's
got a news update for you. What tipping him?

Speaker 4 (11:42):
News this hour brought to you by your neighborhood Ford Store.
Mostly sunny and hot. It's high of a ninety today.

Speaker 2 (11:48):
South Carolina Republican Senator Lindsay Graham died from a brief
and sudden illness on July the eleventh. His office said
in a statement he was seventy one and is more
than three decades in Washington. Graham play major roles in
crafting key pieces of legislation affecting millions of americans lives,
while also developing a reputation as a.

Speaker 4 (12:07):
Stark foreign policy hawk.

Speaker 2 (12:09):
Emergency personnel arrived at his home on Saturday night and
said that they were conducting CPR and a man suffering
from cardiac arrest. The Graham's cause of death has not
been publicly confirmed. Graham's death has opened up an important
vacancy atop a key Senate committee, one that's increasingly an
architect of some of the most consequential legislation affecting americans lives.

(12:30):
South Carolina Republican was the powerful chairman of the Senate
Budget Committee. Whoever replaces Graham atop the Budget Committee will
play a key role in delivering on GOP priorities.

Speaker 3 (12:42):
Yeah, I mean I got you know those surprise.

Speaker 7 (12:45):
There's a lot of online kookiness, of course, speculation and whatnot,
which is what happens when anybody dies right now, But
he certainly was a character, all.

Speaker 4 (12:55):
Right, thousands of people came out to see the world.

Speaker 3 (12:57):
Why they call him Ladybug. Why his nickname was Ladybug?
You can you can google that.

Speaker 2 (13:02):
Okay, Well, I thought he had another nickname with lady
j that that was another one that the lady g right, oh,
lady g.

Speaker 7 (13:10):
G lady bugs, you'll you just have to something you
gotta do for yourself. Wondering how you're gonna craft that,
not like not even gonna uh there there it's called
lady bugs strategically placed birthmarks.

Speaker 3 (13:27):
How's that?

Speaker 10 (13:29):
Oh?

Speaker 7 (13:29):
No, no, ready, those are just my lady bugs.

Speaker 3 (13:39):
Kick And I believe that's what they named the Rodney Dangerfield.
After that was what the Yeah, he's the coach lin,
Let's get out there and get them.

Speaker 2 (13:56):
Thousands of people came out to see the world's largest
steam locomotive is A chugged through Pittsburgh on Saturday. Union
Pacific's Big Boy has been on a nationwide tour in
celebration of America's two hundred and fifty the anniversary for
months now. It departed from Altoona at nine am Saturday
and wound its way through western Pennsylvania. Crowds flocked to
the tracks to see the locomotive move through and cheered on,

(14:18):
so much so that in Dairy, local fire crews had
to do crowd control. The crowds continued in Greensburg, Jeannett Homestead,
Pittsburgh and other communities. It was especially a site in Leedsdale,
which was Big Boy's only public stop in the area.
Some spectators arrived in the morning to get a good seats,
but even some people drove hours to see the train.

(14:40):
So now it is headed to Ohio and it's gonna.

Speaker 3 (14:43):
Head out west. All right, you said some of your
friends set up for Big Boy are Boston. Oh okay.

Speaker 4 (14:51):
Cool Boss went out with to set up for Big Boy.

Speaker 2 (14:56):
And basically staked it out like it was going to
be like a Steeler tailgate, like where's our spot? Yeah,
what time are we getting there? Hold the you know,
and they you know what.

Speaker 11 (15:04):
Listen.

Speaker 2 (15:05):
We posted it on our socials for Dve it was
a great view, so.

Speaker 3 (15:10):
He did a good job. Cool super Bowl for Fomers,
it was.

Speaker 2 (15:15):
But I feel like I didn't realize how many people
in my life would care about the train and it
was cool. But I just thought everywhere on social media
where everybody was like, got our spot for Big Boy,
I'm like.

Speaker 6 (15:26):
You yeah, yeah, random people on Facebook and Twitter.

Speaker 4 (15:31):
Yeah, you used to carry a knife in your sock like.

Speaker 3 (15:36):
There's a train coming. I'm glad you found peace with
this train.

Speaker 7 (15:41):
I'm telling you, man, it's like metal dudes with cats,
you know what I mean.

Speaker 3 (15:48):
I think there's some gruff dudes.

Speaker 7 (15:49):
You really like trains, you know, like there's something infantilizing
about a train. Yeah, it takes you back to being
a kid.

Speaker 3 (16:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (16:01):
I mentioned this on Friday, but my uncle sets up
like a massive train set at Christmas every year. Like
it takes hours, like ten hours from to set it up.
But it is so sick and then you think, for
a second, maybe I'll get into trains. Yeah, and then
you're like, no, that's crazy.

Speaker 7 (16:19):
It's just better to go look at the people who
spend their whole lives doing that, and you're like, this
is really cool.

Speaker 3 (16:22):
You did this.

Speaker 7 (16:23):
My neighbor growing up did that. He was an engineer
ge and so his entire basement was a train set,
like it went through the walls and stuff like that.
Like he spent his entire life just continuing to build
it and build it. And one day I went down
there and his daughter was showing it to us, and
I was like, this is so cool and she's like yep.
And I'm like, oh man, do you think let's play

(16:44):
with it? These Like She's like, oh no, he really
doesn't want us to. And I was like, oh, well,
can we go watch TV? And he's like no, he
doesn't like us to watch the Jeffersons. And I was
like what, Oh, I think I know what you're saying.
What kind of train is this? What's on that train?

Speaker 4 (17:08):
Where are they taking them?

Speaker 3 (17:12):
This is not what I thought it was. I don't think.

Speaker 7 (17:15):
I thought it was like a Christmas train. I don't
think that's what this is. Anyways, people who were into trains.
Neil Young famously into Lionel trains. His son, Zeke I
was born with MS I think maybe cerebral palsy, but
they share this love of trains and trains that so
he's been a big trained guy for a long long time.

(17:38):
He does model trains and then goes and sees. You know,
I would think consider himself. He and Zeke a fohmer.
Fomer's okay, there's a Pittsburgh band named Fomer.

Speaker 3 (17:47):
It's a great name. I didn't know that was the
term until now.

Speaker 2 (17:50):
Can I ask just to recalibrate myself. So foemers are
like just enthusiasts, but there's not any other nefarious component too.

Speaker 3 (18:00):
No, it's not like plush easy.

Speaker 4 (18:02):
It's not like burry.

Speaker 3 (18:02):
Yeah it's and then they have sex with somebody in
an e. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (18:06):
Anytime something has like a cool urban dictionary kind of
sounding name, I'm always like, is there sex?

Speaker 3 (18:12):
And then tag my kabooth? Nope, nothing like that too,
Yeah right, none of that.

Speaker 8 (18:19):
All right.

Speaker 2 (18:20):
It is mostly sunny and hot today with a high
of ninety.

Speaker 7 (18:23):
Michael, have your sports here coming up in a little bits,
and as promised, Benzi, you'll be joining us. The Bucos
have just been on fire and as Merlin Valdez has
been bringing the lumber and it's crazy. The Buccos go
into the break with the best offense in the league.
Last year, going into the All Star Break, they were

(18:45):
the worst. To go from worst to first is a
feat only a few of gee before. So one thing
that you can't say about this team is that it's
not entertaining because they're never out of a game with
these bats.

Speaker 3 (18:58):
And what a weekend sweeping the Brewers Sports next.

Speaker 8 (19:00):
Now, wherever you go or whatever you're doing, you are
never too far from your hometown station.

Speaker 3 (19:06):
Good films on duty or keeping us going.

Speaker 8 (19:09):
We are streaming on all your devices.

Speaker 3 (19:12):
Just save us.

Speaker 8 (19:12):
As a priest said on the free iHeartRadio app live
from the Don's Appliances Studios, where Pittsburgh shops for appliances.

Speaker 12 (19:20):
This is WDWE Pittsburgh from the Seedon Hill University Weather Center.
Schedule your campus visit today.

Speaker 10 (19:29):
This report is sponsored by Groundworks, your local experts for
foundation and concrete repair.

Speaker 13 (19:34):
It's going to be a hot one today, mostly sunny skies,
high near eighty eight. Can't roll out an afternoon stray shower.
Partly cloudy tonight than decreasing clouds with clear skies overnight,
dropping the sixty seven sunny and hot once again tomorrow
with a high of ninety four.

Speaker 3 (19:48):
Twenty show Mike, What's going On? Sports is Up? Brought
to you by Bridgeville Appliance.

Speaker 10 (19:53):
The Pirates completed an unlikely sweep of the Milwaukee Brews
yesterday thanks to the contributions you'll have slimmit yes, unlikely
sources in yesterday's fourteen to five sweep, completing victory at
PNC Park. Marcell Ozuna two for five with two RBI,
Jared Triolo three for five two RBI, Henry Davis two

(20:16):
for four three RBI. Ozuna and Davis both hit their
eighth home runs of the season. Davis longball coming after
he tried to lay down a bunt and couldn't do
it just on his own. It wasn't called from the bench.
You just thought would be a good time to try
to bunt. Couldn't get that done, so he hit it
out of the yard. Incredible weekend for the Pirates. Thirty

(20:39):
four thousand and eighty seven. Your official attendance yesterday. A
lot of Jordan Davis fans. There was a concert after
the game, which I did not stay around for. I
never heard of Jordan Davis, nor have I, but a
lot of people had because there were a lot of
cowboy boots and T shirts and a lot of people
in the yard yesterday that deson we're not there to
see what we thought. It was going to be a

(21:00):
matchup between Skeens and Meserrowski, but the Brewers pulled Beserraski
Saturday night.

Speaker 3 (21:05):
Yeah, because he was sore.

Speaker 7 (21:07):
Well maybe you know what'd you say it like that,
like you know he might have a legitimate The.

Speaker 3 (21:12):
Whole world wanted to see that match up. I know
thee all start break. Yeah, we were gonna hurt Misserowski.

Speaker 10 (21:18):
He says he's going to fall apart he throws one
hundred and five miles an hour.

Speaker 3 (21:22):
That's why he saw.

Speaker 10 (21:25):
It's it's an industry wide plague the way they handle pitchers,
and that's why these guys get hurt.

Speaker 3 (21:31):
And I don't disagree with you that.

Speaker 10 (21:32):
And the theory is, well, we got to keep them healthy,
so don't pitch them. What's the point of keeping them
healthy if they don't pitch.

Speaker 7 (21:40):
Yeah, No, I don't disagree with you. I just don't
know all the particulars about his nor do I. But
I'll guess, Yeah, I guess that's the same I'll suspect.
I don't know why I'm defending that guy. Yeah, I
mean the whole world was waiting for that matchup. They
announced it a.

Speaker 10 (21:53):
Couple of days prior into the first half.

Speaker 3 (21:56):
Skeens against Miserowski won a game thirty four thousand on hand.

Speaker 1 (21:59):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (22:00):
Again, a lot of hillbillies, right, They just want to
catch some fish, drive their truck, shoot a beer, crank,
cranked their hog.

Speaker 3 (22:09):
Yes, that's right. That's the one guy.

Speaker 10 (22:10):
He had a T shirt that had the American flag
with a deer in front of it.

Speaker 3 (22:15):
I love it, and I thought, boy, nothing makes me
think of American. I don't know why.

Speaker 10 (22:20):
It just it had a I guess, you know, shoot
the deer salute the flag? Is that the daily double?

Speaker 3 (22:28):
I don't know. Home of the Dough.

Speaker 10 (22:33):
I got nothing, Lord and I but looked like everybody
who's having a good time. The sweep was possible because
the Pirates rallied in the bottom of the seventh in
the first game of what became a double header on Saturday,
Bucco's down three until as Merlin Valdez went yard Grand Slam.
Pirates end up winning that game seven to six, Game

(22:54):
one of the three against Milwaukee, Valdez five for twelve,
three home runs, nine RBI. In twenty eight games of
this season, he's got ten homers twenty seven rbi. He's
hitting three toh nine. His ops is one point eight four.
This guy came out of nowhere.

Speaker 14 (23:13):
Well not totally out of nowhere, but yes, yeah, I
don't recall talking spring training of well, they bring Valdez
up in May.

Speaker 3 (23:22):
But he was killing it in Indy. Yeah, oh he was,
but he wasn't. That got him on the radar.

Speaker 10 (23:27):
And now he's just taken off and running with the opportunity.

Speaker 7 (23:30):
But I mean, and let's enjoy it because you know,
I mean, there's plenty of years, plenty of Brady Anderson years,
plenty of cal Raleigh years, you know where you think, oh,
this guy's gonna hit forty every year. No, that doesn't
always happen. Sometimes guys are on streaking. Let's just enjoy it.

Speaker 10 (23:47):
The sweep for the Buckos there, first since April the
twenty ninth, twenty twenty three at Washington, first home sweep
of doubleheader since May twenty ninth, twenty one against Colorado
onto the All Star break, and the Pirates, all things considered,
are in okay shape, not great, but they're not buried yet.

(24:09):
The sweep of the Brewers, you're saying it's a wipe.

Speaker 3 (24:13):
Well you call it a sweep. We don't need that.
Is that in.

Speaker 10 (24:18):
It's an homage to the explosive diarrhegita, right, yeah, epidemic. Yes,
they got the deficit with Milwaukee down to single digits.
Pirates are nine and a half back in the NL
Central fourth place, but in the wildcard chase, two games
behind Miami, which is the third wildcard. Saint Louis a
game back is in between Miami and Pittsburgh. Pirates are

(24:41):
only four and a half games behind the Cubs, who
are the first wildcard, and there are three teams breathing
down the Pirates next the Diamondbacks, Padres, and National So
it's going to be a crazy second half sprint to
the finish for the Pirates and everybody else in the
L that is contending for the postseason.

Speaker 3 (24:59):
Yeah, could be worse, no question.

Speaker 7 (25:03):
I hate to see them with that many wins and
still be near the bottom of the standings right now,
because it feels like when you rip up in the
NL standings, you want to see the buckos like second
or third the way they're playing right now.

Speaker 3 (25:15):
Yeah, and you'd like to see him five out. Yeah.
A lot of roster moves over the weekend.

Speaker 10 (25:23):
The Pirates activated Jacob Gonzalez, enfielder, and left handed pitcher
Bryant Brandon Iert on Saturday. They had acquired those guys
from the White Sox for pitcher Jaden Woods and the
thirty fourth overall pick a Competitive Ballance, a pick in
the first year player Draft.

Speaker 3 (25:40):
They also recall.

Speaker 10 (25:41):
Thomas Harrington and Antoine Kelly from Triple A Indy. Kelly
threw two innings yesterday, four hits, three runs, all of BRN.
He went back to Indianapolis after yesterday's game and twenty
one selections in the draft for the Pirates, including first
round pick.

Speaker 3 (25:56):
Derek Curial of LSU.

Speaker 10 (26:00):
We'll getting into some of that stuff as this week progresses,
and there's less and less to talk about because baseball
has arrived at its all Star break.

Speaker 3 (26:08):
The World Cup is down to four teams. Since we last.

Speaker 10 (26:11):
Spoke Friday, Spain beat Belgium two to one, closer than
I thought it was going to be, but few Belgium
is that game approached last look, I became more and
more anti Belgium, anti Belgium, and anti Belgia. So I
was happy to see that. Saturday, England beats Norway two
to one, a Flemish flamer, and Argentina beat Sweden excuse me,

(26:36):
Switzerland three to one.

Speaker 3 (26:38):
So here we go.

Speaker 7 (26:38):
That game was awesome, though like three to one didn't
do it justice. They battled on one till very late. Yeah,
and they were down a man because of a dubious
sort of ejection. A lot of stuff happens in the
World Cup, Yes, a lot of a lot of.

Speaker 10 (26:54):
Balls hitting wires, controversy cars England, this.

Speaker 7 (27:00):
Is fixed and Norway should have won that game. Well,
I'm glad they didn't. Well, I know why you're going.

Speaker 10 (27:07):
Tuesday France against Spain semi final number one. Wednesday England
against Argentina Semi final number two. The winners will play
Sunday three o'clock at MetLife Stadium for the World Cup,
which isn't a cup.

Speaker 7 (27:22):
It's a gold thing, that's true. It is a gold thing.
It's like a is it a ball with hands on it?
It's it's it looks like well, it kind of looks
like a coffee grinder. It's maybe a pepper grinder, Like
you turn the ball and pepper comes out of the bottom.

Speaker 10 (27:42):
Yeah, you think they have a nice cup? Yeah, that's
not very big. No, Well, maybe they could learn a
little from us. We have much to learn from them,
particularly as it relates to soccer. But maybe they could
learn a little from us and have a real trophy
and like an actual cup. I think it's earth. I
think the ball is earth. Okay, what's under the world?

(28:02):
The world?

Speaker 3 (28:02):
What's under it? A cup? People holding the cup up
in a sport where you're not supposed.

Speaker 6 (28:07):
To touch it. They should saw the top off of
the world and drink from it. That's what I would do.
I like that.

Speaker 3 (28:15):
Anyway, It's been a lot of fun. Told you to
get into it. Yeah I have. I'm actually bummed out
there's fewer games now. I hate that.

Speaker 7 (28:22):
The two games that we're watching this week, which are
you know, of utmost importance, we have the AFC NFC
Championships being played on a Tuesday and a Wednesday at
three o'clock.

Speaker 3 (28:31):
That sucks.

Speaker 10 (28:32):
Just walking back to COVID, Yeah, I know. Want a
hearken back steals Raven's five o'clock on a Tuesday taking
a noon on a Wednesday.

Speaker 3 (28:39):
Yeah, done, harkening. Abby's got your news Top of the hour.

Speaker 2 (28:42):
Some breaking news this morning. We have to say goodbye
to actor Sam Neil.

Speaker 3 (28:46):
What a drag.

Speaker 7 (28:47):
Well, we'll say hello to Tim Ben's awkward transition Benzi
coming up next.

It's the DV Morning Show and joining us right now
from chib Lef Sports, it's our friend Tim Ben's Benzi.

Speaker 3 (29:45):
Good morning, How are you buddy?

Speaker 14 (29:48):
Welcome back.

Speaker 11 (29:48):
Good to hear the first topic of the day was
explosive diarrhea after your return.

Speaker 7 (29:53):
Well, you know, and I wasn't talking about the Pirates
for once, because they lit it up this weekend against
the Brewer, second best team in baseball. The offensive explosion
from the Buckos has been a huge surprise this season,
no doubt about it, and very timely on Sunday, as

(30:13):
you've pointed out today. In the trip Tim because he
needed Paul Skins to get a couple of w's behind him,
and boy did they come to his offense in the
last two starts.

Speaker 11 (30:31):
I know, yeah, I think that the fact that the
offenses performed as well as it has, it's not just
a surprise compared to what we're expecting at the start
of the year. I think we all expected it to
be better than what it was last year, and how
could it be worse. But the fact that they're scoring
as many runs as they are with guys like Horowitz, Cruz,

(30:51):
Rodriguez and Griffin all on the shelf, they've gotten very
fortunate that other guys have gotten hot while those guys
have been out and has bullied them going into the
All Star break and to the Skeens point, Yeah, I mean, like,
think about how that game could have been different if
Jacob Miserowski was pitching right. I mean, Skeens had plenty
of room to maneuver and operate. He had the one

(31:13):
inning where he allowed the back to back doubles that
are resulted in two runs, and from there he just
needed to keep a clean sheet and he was going
to be fine. And that's because the offense gave him
tons of cushion. It was easier to pitch. He didn't
have to nibble, he didn't have to worry about traffic
on the bases when they got there, and I think
for him to find his sea legs after that really

(31:35):
bad stretch of nine starts, the offense has given him
a platform to do that with O'Hearn's performance against the
Braves last week and then what happened against Milwaukee without
Missowski yesterday.

Speaker 3 (31:46):
Tim.

Speaker 10 (31:47):
I heard the postgame interview with Skeens yesterday and he
was paraphrasing him. He was saying talking about how excited
he was for the second half and how much fun
it's going to be, and how much he thinks of
team of great potential and possibility. Did you get the
impression listening to that that he was saying what you're
supposed to say at the All Star break?

Speaker 3 (32:07):
Or do you think he genuinely believes it.

Speaker 11 (32:11):
I always get that impression with him when he's talking.
I always sort of get the impression that he's, you know,
giving the company line and saying roughly what you're supposed
to say. But I do think that there is optimism
within that clubhouse that they could sustain this at least
until the trade deadlines, that they don't have to sell off.

(32:33):
I do think that there's optimism that this offense can
be even better when all those injured players I just
rattled through come back. It's gonna be a while for Griffin,
of course. But you know, I don't know what you
guys think. I think the cruise angle to this is
really interesting, you know, Like, I don't want to say
that it's because he's out that the offense has found

(32:53):
its rhythm. But he's such a big bat, He's such
a big talent. I would think that if be thrilled
to get him back that again, you know, you know,
are they perhaps surviving better because there are as many
empty at bats, there's fewer strikeouts with runners in scoring position.
Like when he comes back, does the apple cart get upset?
Or how do they weave him back in? You know,

(33:13):
Madden mentioned on the podcast today, do you throw him
back at short because Griffin isn't there? I don't know
if I do that just because he was such a
broken mess there and he might be figuring out center
field a little bit. But hey, Mangum's hitting above three
hundreds since he's taken on what amounts to an everyday role.
So I think that is an interesting thing to watch
whenever he does come back, how he gets woven back

(33:34):
into the lineup and how the pieces move around him.

Speaker 10 (33:37):
That's a fascinating suggestion or narrative because his numbers are great.
But I don't think he's a great player, and I
don't think they miss him.

Speaker 7 (33:47):
So why not deal Ozuna now that he started to
show a little light and maybe show a little interest
and then d H Cruz.

Speaker 11 (33:55):
I'd be good with that. I'd be good with that.
You know, they're also finding one thing that has been
forced here is they can't dilly dally as much with
Sunday lineups, and well, this guy splits are a little
bit better against right e's than lefties, so we're gonna
sit him against the lefty. They've just kept their good
players playing, and you know some guys have stayed hot

(34:19):
because of that. You know, Ozuna's complaint has been, well,
you know, they never give me enough time to get
runway to stay hot, and people have been complaining on
his behalf about that. But what are you gonna do
sit valdads at this point or where else is he
gonna go?

Speaker 1 (34:33):
Like?

Speaker 11 (34:34):
How else you gonna move chairs around that Ozuna gets hits.
Not everybody can be pacified in that regard, but I
would investigate that for sure, Randy. Maybe there's somebody out
there that just needs a right handed bat to be
a platoon DH and he knows he's gonna play all
the time against lefties and that could be a perfect
fit and opens up a spot.

Speaker 10 (34:52):
Yeah, because if they ever get healthy, which is a
big if he's out right, I mean, he's gonna get
cut if they can't trade him when they get hold.

Speaker 11 (35:01):
Yeah, unless Valdez HiT's a wall. And this has just
been a one or two week fluky thing. But I
don't think that it is thing.

Speaker 7 (35:10):
Is Azuna showing a little life recently. Valdez has all year.

Speaker 11 (35:18):
And there's Clay to work with there. And for as
much as we want to anoint this a team that
has arrived, it isn't. It is still very much a
team in development and hopefully can be developed beyond this
season whenever the next season rolls around, whether that's twenty
twenty seven or twenty eight, whenever the labor thing has resolved.

Speaker 7 (35:35):
Tim Benz from Trip Live Sports All Star Break, You're
gonna watch the home run Derby tonight.

Speaker 11 (35:43):
I'll probably watch it some out of obligation until I
get bored with it turn it off. I mean in Philadelphia,
that thing might not end until the time you guys
take the air tomorrow. There's gonna be so many homers there.

Speaker 3 (35:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 11 (35:55):
Have they changed the format back or is it still timed?

Speaker 3 (35:58):
What have they done there?

Speaker 11 (35:59):
I'm not sure it different again this year.

Speaker 3 (36:01):
I'm not sure, but I know I was.

Speaker 7 (36:03):
I was kind of cleaning out some more crap out
of my dad's house this past weekend and I found
the All Star program from when he and I went
was a two thousand and two when P and C
Park hosted it last.

Speaker 11 (36:17):
And six, actually the twentieth anniversary, okay, and who won?

Speaker 7 (36:21):
That?

Speaker 3 (36:21):
Was it Ryan Howard that won the home run Derby
that year?

Speaker 15 (36:24):
Yeah?

Speaker 11 (36:25):
No, David Wright put on a really big show. Howard
hit the one that almost hit John Kruck while he
was broadcasting in center field, left center or right center field. Yeah,
there were some. There were some moonshots, I think, or
teams at one or two absolute bombs.

Speaker 7 (36:38):
That was one of those super fun events that you're
not exactly sure if you're going to enjoy it. When
you're going, You're like, all right, I'm waiting in crowds
to get into a sold out stadium just to watch
BP and how entertaining will this be? But much like
the draft, it becomes a celebration of the sport.

Speaker 11 (36:57):
In the park for everybody nationally to see that for
the first time. And it's funny to bring this up
because I am talking to Jason Bay and Freddy Sanchez today,
the two Pirates All Stars who were on that team,
just to kind of flash back to the twentieth anniversary
of it. And don't forget the game was great. Like
the two All Star Games that we've had in Pittsburgh
last few times it's come through in ninety four and

(37:20):
two thousand and six were fantastic. You know, that was
the The ninety four game was Jim Leland sending Tony
Gwynn around to win it and then you had Michael
Young with the base hit and the ninth to win
it for the American League. Like they've had two really
good All Star Games the last time they've come through,
and you know, the one unfortunately was remembered as baseball,

(37:42):
I guess for Pittsburgh. It's nice, but that was as
good as it got for baseball this year because the
strike happened shortly thereafter, So you know, they've been two
pretty memorable. And don't forget the home run hitting contest
that weekend two with Griffy and Frank Thomas hitting won
five hundred and twenty eight feet or whatever. Three rivers,
So you had. It's been a good show the last
couple of times it's come through Pittsburgh when it's been here.

Speaker 3 (38:03):
Tim Benz, thanks so much, buddy, Talk to you soon.
You got it, guys, Abby's you got your news?

Speaker 2 (38:06):
Next breaking this morning, actor Sam Neil has died at
the age of seventy eight.

Speaker 7 (38:11):
Kevin Gorman be right for the triable talk Bucks coming
up eight forty five today, and pretty high hopes right
now for the Buckos Buckles fans of Rideheide. Despite many
mistakes that would have put them in a much better
position in the division Mike, going into the All Star Break,
they're still hanging in their best record they've had going
into the All Star breaks since when twenty fifteen.

Speaker 3 (38:33):
I mean, yeah, it could be a lot worse.

Speaker 10 (38:36):
I mean, I'm still not sold bad now, but there's
no reason to throw up the white flag and say
that's another one of these years.

Speaker 3 (38:41):
Yeah, all right, that's all coming up. Full disclosure.

Speaker 8 (38:44):
We're buying your loyalty with the only currency we have music.
Chaed Tyson kicks off his show every weekday at three
with a commercial free rock block. Yeah we sell a
little less, but rock a little more with Tyson afternoons
on dv E.

Speaker 6 (39:02):
Don't miss the fourteenth annual Car, truck and Motorcycle Cruise in.

Speaker 8 (39:06):
At w d v E Pittsburgh and iHeartRadio Station.

Speaker 3 (39:13):
Guaranteed human.

Speaker 4 (39:17):
Have no control where you are when that happens, and
then you just.

Speaker 3 (39:20):
You you really can't. You can't tell what's going to happen.

Speaker 7 (39:24):
You Well, after that, what I would say is, uh,
phone your neighbors and uh and tell them to check
on you every couple of days, just to make sure
you're still making it.

Speaker 3 (39:34):
Because people are going, it's like out of both ends.

Speaker 7 (39:36):
Yeah, it's not just the explosive diarrhea. And it is
so funny to hear all of the news people like
reporting on it with straight faces and they're going.

Speaker 3 (39:46):
The explosive diarrhea.

Speaker 7 (39:48):
You know that's because it's it's it's not diarrhea is
kind of by definition explosive. It's not like John, they're saying,
this is the tamous diarrhea. They see in some time,
it hardly explodes, sort of just falls out.

Speaker 5 (40:05):
Yeah, Brandy Bellman and the DVE Morning shows.

Speaker 7 (40:12):
Cyclosporiasis, sporiasis, spariasis, cyclosporiasis.

Speaker 3 (40:19):
No, you don't want that.

Speaker 7 (40:22):
Thirty one states have the parasite known to cause explosive diarrhea.
Thanks to those dozed nerds cutting our FDA defense of
this stuff. We used to check for stuff like this,
and now we don't know where the hell is coming
from or where it's going. But the good news is

(40:43):
you could have it right now and not know and
it takes five days to incubate. This is why I
think it's the most hilarious diarrhea outbreak that we've ever had,
because there's gonna be people feeling very confident during PowerPoint
presentations at work, pretty good, and they're gonna stand up.
They're gonna be like, no, if you'll notice in quarter
or two, hot fart, oh, hot fart hits and it's

(41:09):
all downhill from there, and all of a sudden, they
can't concentrate on what they're doing and they're thinking.

Speaker 3 (41:13):
Is this it? Is it coming for me?

Speaker 7 (41:16):
Is that that's chocolate covered strawberry I had three days ago,
going to be chal downfall. Oh good lord, because there's
gonna be lots of stories in the offices of people
who are just sitting there, and it's like.

Speaker 3 (41:29):
Janet soiled herself today she had to go.

Speaker 7 (41:32):
There's gonna be there's gonna be chairs that have to
be thrown out. There's a good time to buy stock
in office supplies, is what I really think.

Speaker 3 (41:41):
Or we might just go right back to the you
know what, let's all work from home again.

Speaker 7 (41:44):
Let's work from home until we stop diarrhe eating explosively.

Speaker 2 (41:47):
Anyways, I was gonna say it, if you get it,
you just stay.

Speaker 4 (41:50):
Home, right.

Speaker 3 (41:51):
Well, you don't know that you get it, Well, it's
got it.

Speaker 4 (41:54):
We would need to stay home.

Speaker 3 (41:56):
I'm coming in. I'll be here.

Speaker 4 (42:01):
Not that it's not contagious.

Speaker 2 (42:02):
No, you're not giving it to somebody else, but you
can't get away from the toilet.

Speaker 6 (42:06):
I'm bringing in a drop cloth, Like I'm gonna go
to Low's and get a drop cloth and places it
under my little station here.

Speaker 3 (42:14):
I like that.

Speaker 7 (42:15):
I like the idea of explosive diarrhea, Like you're just
sitting there and you're like, hey, can you guys, God

(42:37):
every Michael Bay diarrhea. Just prepare yourself, that's all.

Speaker 3 (42:44):
I mean.

Speaker 7 (42:45):
We might needs to start like micro dosing ammodium.

Speaker 2 (42:51):
There's some like backroom the that the there's like a
kind of antibiotic that they're recommending for this.

Speaker 3 (42:59):
Okay, to try to help.

Speaker 4 (43:00):
Like if you do get it that you.

Speaker 2 (43:01):
Could ask for an antibiotic and you would you would
get a little bit of timeline boost.

Speaker 3 (43:07):
Okay, do you guys hear what happened to Janet? Yeah?

Speaker 6 (43:10):
I saw a chair out by the dumpster, just a
graveyard of chairs.

Speaker 7 (43:15):
So say this just this is just gonna be a
just an office manager in a hazmat suit.

Speaker 3 (43:21):
He was like, got it all the one earl O
gosh god.

Speaker 7 (43:26):
Okay, hopefully that's it for today.

Speaker 3 (43:34):
Was that an accounting Yeah, okay, I'll be right over.
Whole departments wiped out.

Speaker 7 (43:41):
It's explosive diarrhea. It's just such a funny term. Why
is it? Of course it is. It's being it's also
it's the most they're calling it the most redundant diarrhea
of all time.

Speaker 3 (44:07):
Everyone's sitting at work and they're like, have a report.

Speaker 7 (44:09):
Hey, it's says here that if we don't allocate these resources,
and then the person is still standing there like holding
the report. Are you okay, Frank you sure you're okay? Yeah, anyways,

(44:31):
fun with diarrhea.

Speaker 3 (44:31):
It's so good to be back.

Speaker 7 (44:33):
Look, I bet you you missed this level of discourse
while I was gone.

Speaker 3 (44:37):
Can you give me a ride home?

Speaker 7 (44:41):
Why would be hilarious if it was like trouble on
the Parkway East today as the enclosure, which was already
causing traffics, generals experience a number of drivers who were
experiencing explosive diarrhea.

Speaker 4 (45:05):
We got to redo the road.

Speaker 3 (45:08):
That's right, Steve.

Speaker 6 (45:08):
And a lot of folks are sitting on their hoodie
in their car, you know, the old emergency hoodie you're
keep in your trunk.

Speaker 3 (45:17):
Well, a lot of folks are using it.

Speaker 7 (45:21):
Ken, My gym teacher used to call this a period dress.

Speaker 3 (45:24):
And what you do is tie it around your waist.

Speaker 7 (45:42):
My gym teacher actually did say that to some of
the girls one time, really well, because one girl had
a very embarrassing incident and she was like, hey, this
is like eighth grade. You know, It's like if that happens,
just just you know, pull a hoodie or around you
just tie it. Just tie it and then you can go,

(46:03):
you know, so you're not running around with you know, evidence,
and uh, they kept calling it period dress.

Speaker 4 (46:13):
I've never heard it called that before, but now that's
what it is.

Speaker 3 (46:16):
It's a period dress exclusive periods.

Speaker 7 (46:22):
No no, no, no no no no, oh god, if
the parasite does that, good lord guys, no, no.

Speaker 11 (46:32):
That is.

Speaker 3 (46:34):
Cyclose sparid.

Speaker 7 (46:38):
All right, well, let's just everybody go total, just ketto
I guess right. Nothing isn't that all meat, isn't can carnivore.

Speaker 3 (46:50):
That's it. That's worked for some people that I know.

Speaker 7 (46:53):
Yeah, you know when you try, when you want colon
cancer fast, they say that is the best way.

Speaker 3 (46:59):
There's nothing like why ching someone eat two pounds of
bacon for dinner? And that's kind of what they're like,
it's legal.

Speaker 7 (47:07):
Why don't see, you know, I get in occasionally, I
get in the meatthead algorithm, you know, and they'd be like,
you don't even know what you could be eating all
the week. You could eat like this. And it's just
a dude who's got like three pounds of ground beef
which he browns and then he puts it in bryce,
you know, and he's like like while you're real out
and brown, aren't you Like you can't eat that much

(47:30):
red meat at a certain point in your life, you know.

Speaker 3 (47:34):
You shouldn't. Yeah.

Speaker 7 (47:35):
So my problem is when I see something on the Internet,
I'm like, Okay, yes, that's what I'm going to do
a meal prepping. Yeah no, no, the internet said that.
My buddy's a friend of mine, she's a nutritionist, so
I tried to run things by her every once in
a while. She gave me the go ahead on the creating.
She said that's oh, it's great for you. Yeah, she

(47:56):
was like, oh yeah, yeah. Even more evidence is coming
out about that now, talking about it helping to stop
cell division, which.

Speaker 3 (48:04):
Is really big. Yes. Wow, so in terms of cancer.

Speaker 7 (48:08):
So now that it's a preventative or it doesn't cure anything,
but it's more of a prevention, is.

Speaker 4 (48:13):
It still like the one scoop is enough?

Speaker 3 (48:17):
Uh?

Speaker 7 (48:17):
Yeah, I'm doing ten milograms. She said that was good.
Most people they say five is like the baseline. Yeah,
you can tolerate a lot more than that. But I
do it for the brain. You know, everything for me
is brain. I don't want to go through what I
saw my dad go through. And I'm terrified of it,
so I do it for the brain and to get swollen.

Speaker 3 (48:36):
Yeah, but it's one A, one B.

Speaker 6 (48:38):
They say, you're actually in terms of cognitive function, you're
supposed to hang brain.

Speaker 3 (48:44):
Another thing I've been doing every years. Anybody at Penn
State who would hang brain And he would do it
so secretively.

Speaker 7 (48:57):
He would lift his leg up on the keg like
it would be kind of dark, yeah, and he'd be
like he'd be like, hey, let me pull you a beer,
and he would grab a beer and then like talk
to the person and just maintain eye contact and then
hold the beer down by the keg and he would
drizzle it.

Speaker 3 (49:14):
For a waterfall effect into the beer.

Speaker 7 (49:19):
And we were talking about this because I like a
bunch of my buddies from high school and college were
you know, we all were back home for the fourth
and we were talking about that. We're like, could you
imagine if a kid got in college, got busted to do
and then it would be like an international incident, oh
like expulsion, He wouldn't he'd have trouble getting a job.
And they were just idiots doing stuff like this all

(49:41):
the time because there were no cameras, there was no you.

Speaker 3 (49:43):
Know, I didn't do that. What are you talking about it? Like,
he didn't do that.

Speaker 7 (49:46):
I thought it was fakes. Those were truck notts. Now
there's like forty five cameras have caught it. Yeah right,
your life is anexorably changed. Oh man, I think I
stepped in some good Yeah that.

Speaker 3 (50:01):
Was a good one. Yeah classic.

Speaker 7 (50:05):
Oh yeah, the old hanging brain. I never understood that one.
To me, I was like, those are those aren't for outside?

Speaker 6 (50:12):
It's the same type of dude is always hanging brain.
It's not like it was the party where the guy
who never hanged right, It's always this.

Speaker 3 (50:24):
It's like, Gary, come on, well, this is gonna shock you.

Speaker 7 (50:28):
So I asked the guys, well, how's how's that guy doing,
you know who the brain hanger. They're like, oh, yeah,
well he's doing He's doing okay. Now he's doing okay.
Now did he have a rough patch? Because boy, what
a shock? What a shock The guy whose decision making
including included I'm gonna.

Speaker 3 (50:46):
Take my balls out.

Speaker 7 (50:47):
I'm gonna poor beer down at a party and poor
beer over them and then serve it.

Speaker 3 (50:51):
Yeah, call it on the rocks. You know, well, what
are you gonna too? Abby? He's got a news update
for you right now. What's happening?

Speaker 4 (51:03):
Is this hour brought to you by Keystone Basement Systems?
What basement? Keystone Basement Systems dot Com? Mostly I know it,
I know what.

Speaker 3 (51:12):
We lost another one that was Shirley. That looks like
Shirley and Engineering. Don't you not eat that iceberg lettuce.

Speaker 4 (51:26):
I don't want to do it.

Speaker 8 (51:29):
All right?

Speaker 16 (51:29):
Mostly sunny.

Speaker 2 (51:30):
It hot today with a high of ninety Guys, this
is a serious Jurassic Park icon. Sam Neil has passed away,
you know how.

Speaker 4 (51:41):
I'm so trusperous.

Speaker 3 (51:48):
I like the debris falling at.

Speaker 4 (51:49):
The end of the It's gotta go somewhere.

Speaker 7 (52:00):
I like Sam Neel. I love He's got good dude.
He would be fine with that joking about him explosive diarrhea.

Speaker 3 (52:12):
He fought cancer for a long time, didn't he. He
was like many years. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (52:15):
The New Zealand Actors family confirmed that he died in Sydney, Australia,
but had been diagnosed with stage three.

Speaker 3 (52:24):
Is it calling cancer? Was it prostrates?

Speaker 4 (52:27):
No explosion?

Speaker 3 (52:37):
Lost it up? That was Mikey. I think we lost Mikey.

Speaker 6 (52:46):
A dude just continuously dragging off his chairs out to
the parking lot.

Speaker 7 (52:53):
This explosive diarrhea break is the worst one I've ever seen,
and we go again. I was here for the g
Debuckle because the visual of it is just so funny.
It's just somebody sitting there, totally fine and unsuspecting.

Speaker 3 (53:15):
I was thinking, maybe after work today we can go
over to gg I for lost another one.

Speaker 16 (53:36):
The next one. The thing was his death was sudden.

Speaker 7 (53:41):
Expected, but there you go. We all know what that means.
It can only mean one thing. An explosion down on
that and he's from New Zealand, he hates that.

Speaker 17 (54:02):
While best known for the Jurassic Park franchise, Neil appeared
in films including Omens three, The Final Conflict, Dead Calm,
The Hunt for Red, October, The Piano, and many others.

Speaker 11 (54:13):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (54:14):
I would say he's one of my favorite actual horror
movie guys.

Speaker 3 (54:18):
What's that? What's that? The first horror movie did? The Possession? Yes, Possession.

Speaker 4 (54:23):
That's ridiculous.

Speaker 2 (54:24):
I actually that's one of those movies that people are
catching up with now, like just as a cult classic.

Speaker 3 (54:30):
Well it was remade, wasn't it.

Speaker 2 (54:33):
I think it was remade, but I don't The original
is insane.

Speaker 7 (54:39):
Yeah, Neil, wash, it's being remade with Paul dano right now.
Oh oh no, no, Robert Pattinson. Uh and Paul Dano.

Speaker 4 (54:53):
Oh does it say who the female leader is?

Speaker 3 (54:55):
Margaret Qually?

Speaker 4 (54:56):
Is it really?

Speaker 2 (54:58):
Oh, she's gonna do a maze because that's a very
uh visceral role and pretty crazy things happened in that movie,
so she'd be amazing in that, all right, Neil was
the Pioneers.

Speaker 3 (55:11):
You just got divorced from Jack Antonoff.

Speaker 2 (55:13):
Yeah, you know why.

Speaker 16 (55:21):
I'm gonna name my bluffer? When when did this happen
to us?

Speaker 3 (55:33):
See you? Jack? I shouldn't have worn these light jeans.

Speaker 7 (55:38):
Am I still wearing skinny jeans?

Speaker 3 (55:42):
Anyways? Ri I p Sam Neil, I think we're done
with this. That poor man so much better. I know.
I do love him.

Speaker 7 (55:52):
He did one of my favorite like movies that not
a lot of people saw, was a Taikawa ted movie
and it's Sam Neil Hunt for Wilder People. It's called
Highest Recommendation. And he's just like a dude who lives
out in the country in well, it's like in New Zealand.

Speaker 3 (56:11):
Like he lives in rural New Zealand.

Speaker 7 (56:13):
And he and his partner dies his wife, and he
kind of ends up adopting this kid who's like a
sort of bigger kind of Maori kind of dissent kid. Anyways,
and it's really brilliant if you like anything Taikowa Ti does.

Speaker 3 (56:32):
It's all in that vein.

Speaker 7 (56:33):
So it's like sweet and funny and Sam Neil is
amazing in it. Hunt for Wilder People, big, big recommendation.
All Right, rip rip, all right.

Speaker 2 (56:44):
It's the reason so many nineties kids wanted to go
to Sea World. Warner Brothers has announced that a reboot
of the nineteen ninety three hit Free.

Speaker 4 (56:52):
Willie is in the works.

Speaker 2 (56:54):
The original film follows a troubled boy who attempts to
free and aging orca that was captured from the wild
and put into a local aquarium as a tourist attraction.
The movie spawned a franchise that included numerous theatrical and
home releases. As the announcement was just made, no casting
or premier information is available yet.

Speaker 3 (57:15):
I got nothing black. I don't like, I don't.

Speaker 7 (57:19):
I mean, I think all the Willies should be freed.
Free the Willie hang the Brain.

Speaker 3 (57:28):
That's what it's going to be called. Free Willie. Tool
two hanging brain.

Speaker 7 (57:33):
Do you know, Uh, they say orches don't kill humans,
they're in captivity.

Speaker 3 (57:41):
Yeah, yeah, and then they're like, they will kill haven't
they been?

Speaker 6 (57:46):
Haven't they been sinking boats though? Because we've missed them off.
We've pissed off the natural world to like any reversible level.

Speaker 7 (57:52):
Yeah, yeah, they've been doing that with with great frequency.

Speaker 3 (57:57):
I get it. I gotta say me too that it's recently.

Speaker 7 (58:03):
I think it just happened to like ten boats, like
outside a Nantucket or something like that.

Speaker 3 (58:07):
Well in the last couple of weeks. Yeah, who knows.

Speaker 4 (58:12):
Did you see the video of the bison at Yellowstone.

Speaker 3 (58:15):
It's unbelievable. I watched it one hundred.

Speaker 2 (58:17):
Times, Oh my god, and enraged two thousand pound bull
bison hooked a tourist and tossed him eight feet into
the air at a campsite in Yellowstone National Park. This
happened on Friday, an encounter captured by a professional photographer
who said the animal was agitated, pissed off and charging
anything and everything. So that was a grandfather and grandson

(58:40):
that were walking around. Whenever that bowl did charge, it
was like rolling around on the ground.

Speaker 4 (58:45):
It kind of looked like it was doing its own thing.

Speaker 2 (58:47):
That chicken truck back, Yeah, pickup truck goes by, and
then that bull just charged. But the bison, according to
the photographer, was at least six feet tall, and the
victim ended up several feet above him, so he went flying.

Speaker 7 (59:02):
But so I was one of the many people who
opened Twitter like early and scrolling.

Speaker 3 (59:09):
It's like Lindsey Graham dies, WHOA crazy?

Speaker 7 (59:11):
And then I saw that video and then I'm like,
he got thrown up in the air by a bowl.

Speaker 3 (59:15):
I don't understand what happened.

Speaker 7 (59:16):
It was like the consecutive like that's how Lindsey Graham died.

Speaker 3 (59:21):
Oh no, no, no, no, that's not how Ladybugs went.

Speaker 7 (59:25):
But if you watch, that guy was doing what you're
supposed to do. He had he had a safe distance,
he was, but then that bison was just like coming
for you. Yeah, I'm extremely fast and huge.

Speaker 3 (59:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (59:37):
The old guy actually put a move on the bison
at the beginning of the video around the trees, and
I was like, I think he's gonna get away, and
of course.

Speaker 7 (59:46):
He he went flying through the air so fast and
so funny, like someone put the penny healthy behind it too,
which I thought like, the guy's okay, right.

Speaker 2 (59:54):
I mean he's excuse me, pretty significant injuries and is
not out of the world yet.

Speaker 3 (01:00:00):
Oh okay, well, then I'll stop making jokes about it.

Speaker 7 (01:00:02):
I thought he was just like, maybe broke some ribs
or something like that, because he went for the lion.

Speaker 6 (01:00:06):
Yeah, the air, I think it's I thought it was
higher than eight feet. I mean it's it looks it
doesn't look real like. You don't think that can happen
to a two hundred pound human being. How fast it
happened too?

Speaker 4 (01:00:20):
Yeah, I checked it for AI because.

Speaker 7 (01:00:22):
It didn't look real right, like the Mitch McConnell picture
from yesterday.

Speaker 4 (01:00:25):
Correct.

Speaker 3 (01:00:26):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:00:27):
Yellowstone officials warn on the park's website that the animals
in the park are wild and dangerous, no matter how
dosa they may appear to be, and the best way
to view them is from inside a car.

Speaker 3 (01:00:39):
Always disrespect nature.

Speaker 2 (01:00:42):
I don't know, but were those people getting out to
see the bison. It just looked like they were on
their way to something, you know, it didn't look like
they were everything.

Speaker 7 (01:00:50):
I read people who know that particular part of the
park say that those those people were well within the
sort of safety zone. Where tons of people go, and
it just that bison just had a hair up its
rear and just went after the guy.

Speaker 3 (01:01:04):
They weren't doing anything wrong. There's plenty of people who
do things.

Speaker 7 (01:01:07):
I follow this one account from Tahoe that just shows
idiots trying to go up to bears and like, oh hi.

Speaker 3 (01:01:14):
Like pulling over their car to go say hi to cubs.

Speaker 7 (01:01:19):
Okay, can you imagine being that devoid of instinct that
you go to say hi to a bear cub not
thinking well, there's a mom arinder somewhere that's gonna absolutely
maul me.

Speaker 3 (01:01:29):
Right.

Speaker 6 (01:01:31):
Yeah, they should force everyone to watch that scene in
the Revenant before they know because he in The Revenant,
he like sees a cub and he's like, oh no,
and then he instantly gets t boned by the bear.

Speaker 3 (01:01:44):
Yeah, I can.

Speaker 7 (01:01:45):
The Revenant is a movie I can only watch one time.
It was so intense and I loved it. But I
never hated a character as much as I hated Tom
Hardy's character in that movie. And just the constant pace
and the intensity in the stress level that my blood
put pressures through the roof watching The Revenant. But it
is awesome. It is an amazing movie. Yeah, it's hard

(01:02:09):
to watch twice. It is a one watcher. It's like
Fox Catcher. You're not like I can just throw that
on as a comfort movie. The Fox Catcher. I haven't.
I don't think I ever even sat through Fox Catcher.
They're just there's some movies I just don't need to
see how it all went down, you know. Yeah, Oh
that that coach who was a better ass. Yeah, let's
throw that on. It's a popcorn quiet Quiet. This is

(01:02:31):
where he shoots Mark Ruffalo in the stomach. What's the
weather gonna be like today?

Speaker 4 (01:02:37):
Mostly sunny and hot. It's a high of nineties.

Speaker 7 (01:02:39):
Michael, have your sports coming up, your buckos with a
huge weekend sweeping the brew Crew out of town going
into the All Star break. The Buccos are the most
prolific offense in the league. Last year, at this time
they were in the basement from worse to first offensively
for your buckos, so hopefully this portends good things in

(01:03:01):
the second half.

Speaker 3 (01:03:02):
Mike's up next with your sports on.

Speaker 7 (01:03:04):

the DVE Morning Show.

Speaker 8 (01:03:40):
Here's Mike Persuda with three takes that resident Here we go.

Speaker 3 (01:03:44):
Yeah, it churns one, two, three, Mike pursuita. Let's hear it,
take number one. It ain't over till it's over.

Speaker 10 (01:03:51):
The Pirates spent last week confirming again the wisdom of Yogi.
Berra First, it was a three game series against Atlanta
in which the Bucks one Game one in a blow
and then threw seven innings of shutout, one hit ball
at the Bravos in Game two and still didn't win
the series. The Pirates next completed a three game sweep

(01:04:11):
in Milwaukee, a series that opened with the Bucks down
three runs with one out in the seventh before going
on to win Game one against a better team than Atlanta,
and then the two that followed. You can't make this
stuff up. If nothing else, stay tuned the Fat Lady
hasn't even begun warming up yet.

Speaker 3 (01:04:30):
Take number two, whatever it takes.

Speaker 10 (01:04:32):
Paul Skeins went five and a third unspectacular innings in
Game three against the Brewers. That was after Braxton Ashcraft
had allowed five runs in five innings in Game one
and Bubba Chandler had only lasted four and two thirds.

Speaker 3 (01:04:45):
Innings in Game two.

Speaker 10 (01:04:47):
The pitching hasn't been what the Pirates thought it would
be the starters as well as the relievers. The Bucks
have survived to this point thanks to an offense that
even significant injuries have it slowed down. But they're not
gonna slow been away to October. The pitching has to
be better, starting with the starters. Take number three. The
fans matter, start acting like it. As successful as the

(01:05:10):
weekend was on the field, the Pirates failed miserably at
customer service. The scene outside of PNC Park between games
of Saturday's double Hutter was as unimaginable as it was unacceptable.
Thousands and thousands and thousands of people chaotically crowded together
trying to get through gates that wouldn't open. Zero information
or direction provided by the ball club.

Speaker 3 (01:05:33):
Was this what it was like?

Speaker 10 (01:05:33):
Trying to get the last chopper out of Saigon. Pictured
DiCaprio DiCaprio trying to get off the Titanic. I was
outside the park at three pm for a four to
h five scheduled first pitch. I got to my seat
in the second inning. The organization should be embarrassed. That
had to piss you off. Let me, you wan't mind
if I expound on that a little now, please do now?

(01:05:56):
The problem was Friday rained out, Yes, so they scheduled doubleheader.
Some genius thought would be a good idea to start
games of twelve fifteen and four oh five and you
still have time to clear the part and then have
people in. Okay, this is just why did they do that?
Apocalyptically stupid first start? You got to make the seven
one a second one at least six forty. Yeah, so

(01:06:18):
then we, as far as we know, the game is
going to start at four h five. I had a
group of eleven people, counting myself. We had six adults
and five kids, ages ranging nine to three. We did
the whole go to Station Square, take the boat thing
because the kids fun. We're at the stadium at three
o'clock and there's just people everywhere that street, you know, McFadden's.

Speaker 3 (01:06:41):
And where all that stuff is. I forget the name
of the street because I'm from Pittsburgh, so I don't
care what the name.

Speaker 11 (01:06:46):
You know.

Speaker 3 (01:06:46):
Go there and make a.

Speaker 10 (01:06:47):
Left outside the Wagoner statute. It looked like Times Square
after we won World War Two. It's just people everywhere
all and I'm trying to get to somebody that can
tell me what the hell's going on, and you can't
get close enough to the stadium to even get any information.

Speaker 7 (01:07:04):
The pirates won't have anybody out there with like a megaphone.

Speaker 10 (01:07:07):
Yeah, they don't put anything on social media except they're stupid.

Speaker 3 (01:07:10):
Hey we won, We're great.

Speaker 10 (01:07:12):
That crap the thing in on date us with and
then eventually just end up in an ameba of people
and the crowd is just lurching to.

Speaker 3 (01:07:21):
However they got people in? How long did it take you?
I was there at three o'clock. I got in for
the second inning.

Speaker 10 (01:07:26):
I was standing in the heat, surrounded by humanity, and
I'm listening. Everybody else is going as crazy as we are.
The couple of the kids are crying. We took the
boat over and now you can't get a boat back
till the seventh inning, So my wife said, where we
have to go to? Get an uber and get the
hell out of here, get back to some stations.

Speaker 3 (01:07:43):
Spam and just go home. You almost pulled the ripcord
all both. I would have been real close to doing that.

Speaker 10 (01:07:49):
Well, I probably would have if I hadn't paid ninety
four dollars for eleven tickets, right a piece for eleven.

Speaker 3 (01:07:54):
Yeah, and nothing nothing from the team.

Speaker 11 (01:08:00):
Now.

Speaker 10 (01:08:00):
Of course, you know I bought my tickets to the Pirates,
so they sent me their prerequisite email.

Speaker 3 (01:08:04):
How did you like your experience? Did you write one back?
Not yet? Oh, will you read it on air if
you'd like? Yeah, I think that you should do that.
They're also getting a phone call. It's just it was
so minor league. You know, they're a better team this year.

Speaker 10 (01:08:18):
They might start drawing some fans, but maybe figure out
how to get them in to take advantage of.

Speaker 3 (01:08:25):
The better team. Isn't it major League Baseball that would
set that time? I don't know.

Speaker 10 (01:08:29):
I want to ask Kevin Gorman about that, because that's
where the problems started.

Speaker 7 (01:08:33):
Because I don't think the Pirates get to just choose
when they usually I mean, I would imagine the league
is the one that approves that. And it wasn't a
getaway day for Milwaukee, so there's no hurry.

Speaker 10 (01:08:43):
And it's a division team. I mean, aren't they playing again?
I haven't looked at the schedule. Aren't they coming back?

Speaker 7 (01:08:48):
Like?

Speaker 3 (01:08:49):
Why did they have to get that Friday game in
Saturday afternoon? Nuts?

Speaker 7 (01:08:53):
Well, I mean, you have all day Saturday. There's no
reason why you couldn't. You just need to space the
games out. You could have even made it a seven
fifteen start if you wanted to on Saturday night, and
then bumped the Sunday game to the afternoon because it's
the All Star break. Seemed like there was a lot
of odd could have started at three o'clock on Sunday
if you were worried about them the.

Speaker 10 (01:09:12):
Idea they came up with. And I you know, I
heard what people were saying around me. I know I'm
not the only one.

Speaker 3 (01:09:17):
People are passed outraged by this.

Speaker 7 (01:09:19):
Yeah, well, I look, I look forward to hearing your
the letter you composed to Bob Nutting and company, Dear Blank,
to whom it may concern, Yeah, I just was a shame,
Like you shouldn't have to go through the shame because
also the product on the field was great. On Saturday,
I mean Esmerlin Valdez had a day for the record books.

Speaker 10 (01:09:41):
His series against Milwaukee Pirates ended up winning fourteen to
five yesterday, which completed the three games sweep. Valdez was
five for twelve with three home runs and nine RBIs.
Got ten home runs and twenty seven RBI in twenty
eight games.

Speaker 7 (01:09:57):
Radall, he did more damage than the exce on Valdez. Yes,
twenty seven are behind in twenty eight games, Pretty muzy.
The offense has been ridiculously good. They wanted it to
be better. It's among the best in baseball, and the
pitching is what's really holding them back.

Speaker 3 (01:10:15):
Abby Scart your news coming up top of the hour.

Speaker 2 (01:10:17):
Picklesburg is about three days away now and Mick Jagger
talks about fame and how it breaks your brain.

Speaker 7 (01:10:23):
Kevin Gorman next hour, we'll talk about box. We'll get
to the bottom of that. What's going on there. Pittsburgh
Power Ballad Challenge. Tonight is the semi finals. We're going
to record it. We'll have it all played back for
you Friday morning. We will reveal to you who ended
up winning this year's Pittsburgh Power Ballad Challenge as we
put it all on tape. Looking very much forward to

(01:10:43):
that tonight and the three finalists will remind you who
those are coming up.

Speaker 1 (01:10:46):
The music's all right, The music is more than all
right when you get to pick the songs. The DV
Workthorce takes their lunch break and they all request the
Electric Lunch every weekday at noon.

Speaker 3 (01:10:58):
Hey, Michelle, love the shows on one O two point
five DV E.

Speaker 6 (01:11:04):
I'm Tad from the DV Morning Show and I'm a
member of the Pittsburgh Firefighters Federal Credit Union. Who can
join our credit union all City of Pittsburgh employees.

Speaker 7 (01:11:13):
That Bob Dylan show last night, I didn't get back
into town until too late, but sounds like it was
a good one, and he closed with I shall be released.

Speaker 3 (01:11:22):
Pretty awesome, pretty cool.

Speaker 7 (01:11:24):
Yeah, nice warm night to see Bob Dylan warble his
way through a bunch of tunes which I'm sure half
the people love and half the people hate.

Speaker 3 (01:11:29):
That's how it always goes. Were they recognizable? I don't.

Speaker 7 (01:11:33):
I don't know the answer to that, but you know
he played when I Paint My Masterpiece, another one of
my favorites.

Speaker 3 (01:11:39):
It ain't me babe played. It ain't me, babe, it
ain't him, babe.

Speaker 7 (01:11:43):
So the good news is with the Pittsburgh Power Ballot
Challenge entries, they are all very easy to understand. Congratulations
to our three finalists. First one you have is that
John Roppo, the Where Things used to Be song Oh yeah,
returned with great power ballad entry or intro turned.

Speaker 3 (01:12:12):
Pizza Hut turn into UPMC. Great video. Also yes.

Speaker 15 (01:12:20):
And ice cream Father Helmet.

Speaker 3 (01:12:28):
Oh yeah, really good.

Speaker 7 (01:12:33):
Oh yeah, little last kissing never hurts.

Speaker 10 (01:12:42):
I want to go back to.

Speaker 7 (01:12:46):
Really good, go back, Okay, great hook there. And then
there was Dave Kern who did the ode to Ben,
which I said, this is like the home sweet home
of the the Batch when.

Speaker 16 (01:13:04):
We walk the first day that you left us.

Speaker 3 (01:13:09):
Lot of these sons revolve around real.

Speaker 18 (01:13:13):
Loud balance, nothing you say, don't playoff round and superba
nothing more than not losing season junior suspense.

Speaker 7 (01:13:35):
How many games you think Ben could win?

Speaker 8 (01:13:37):
Now? Yeah?

Speaker 7 (01:13:40):
Maybe you're not.

Speaker 3 (01:13:45):
Not even really that old noll.

Speaker 8 (01:13:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (01:13:54):
So a great job there from David. And then the
last finalist, Frank Montleone, is back. This is the second
time he's made the finals. It's his third submission he's
zero for two so far, and this one he just
resorted to basically desperate begging to be chosen in his
plight as a power balladeer.

Speaker 3 (01:14:15):
This is the ballad of the Pittsburgh power Balladeer test.
You to got a two for you to fit me?
Minor key tinge one?

Speaker 15 (01:14:29):
Should I sing a battle berg bud in a minor
king o.

Speaker 3 (01:14:39):
Villain origin story?

Speaker 6 (01:14:40):
Yeah?

Speaker 19 (01:14:41):
Mayby you mentioned difference baster b Bama rigle bone of
my shep bud Let be a b.

Speaker 3 (01:15:00):
Yeah, and this is the chorus gets dark, sure does.

Speaker 19 (01:15:11):
Ballen?

Speaker 15 (01:15:12):
Okay, this is the ballads very.

Speaker 3 (01:15:39):
Another super clever entry, great production there from Frank.

Speaker 7 (01:15:43):
So tonight we're gonna have the semi fi well the
final really Red Beach, Mark Madden and Gene werewolfse John
Bellen will be your your your your judges for the
evening and then Friday morning we'll play it all back
for you. But I know you guys, uh this weekend
I wasn't here, but you got to go to the
Northside Music Festival in Abbey.

Speaker 2 (01:16:02):
I heard it was amazing, it was fantastic and so
once the weather cleared. I know that some bands didn't
get to play if you had an outdoor stage and
the weather wasn't cooperating early, but after that it was killer.
I got to the Eastman to see Brooks Surgeoner and
the Bandits, which is Noah.

Speaker 4 (01:16:22):
From the Clarks.

Speaker 2 (01:16:23):
This is the band that he's playing with now. Our
Buddies and Raised by Giants played after that, who were
just in the coffee House recently. I'm trying to think
who else I saw Iron City Stage. Certainly got to
see the Vindy's. We're also in the copy Path last Friday,
and in the common Heart to end the night, Anthony
Jardine at the Elks, and Poster Child at ACB, so

(01:16:46):
like made a lot around and like, you don't get
to see everybody's full set, no, but you at least
get to pop in and you kind of just get
the spirit of the entire festival where you know a
lot of people were playing at the same time.

Speaker 4 (01:16:59):
So there's quite a few bands that I did not
get to see.

Speaker 3 (01:17:01):
Yeah, yeah, I went on Saturday. It was a blast.
I had sort of an abridge thing.

Speaker 6 (01:17:06):
I was meeting some people later in the day, but
I got to see Jeff Taylor at the Nice Stage
on four Land. The Iron City stage, which was awesome.
Saw some of a working breed and they always put
on a great show. Oh tremendous. Yeah, and strolled through
the park, got some food and I caught some of
I'm pretty sure it was Cam Chambers this set, which

(01:17:28):
was really good in the in the park and also
just like the perfect backdrop sound for the park, sort
of jamming as he strolled through there, and we had
it was great weather on Saturday, so that's great.

Speaker 7 (01:17:41):
Yeah, congrats of Ben Sultz and company. Something like another
huge successful year. I was sorry to miss it. I
was in Earie with family and the week started with
my cousin passed away, Caleb, who was the nicest guy
in the world and he was way too young to
go and just a sweet guy. And I went and
saw the Ks play at the Eerie Bayfront. They had

(01:18:02):
this thing called eight Grade Tuesdays, which I showed you
the picture of the venue. It's right on the bay
and the sun you know, setting behind the stage, and
they had about seven eight thousand people there for the Clerks.
It's a free show and it was There's just a
lot of people coming up to me and talking about
my cousin, which was great. But then also be there
with the family of the Clerks was just outstanding. They

(01:18:27):
sounded amazing. The crowd I think was probably of those
thousands of people, I'd say a third of them came
up from Pittsburgh for it. I mean it, there's a
ton of people. I was getting recognized. I don't get
recognized up there, you know what I mean. People don't
know that lie. But like Pittsburgh's were like, what's up?
And then they had like their Clark's shirts on and
stuff like that. They were just the damn good and

(01:18:48):
it was the perfect night. I posted some video of
that one on socials. It could not have been a
nicer night. And she's those guys are good. And speaking
of Brooks Sugar her she performed with the Clerks that night.
She did song Roses, which you did with them at
Stage AE a long time ago, and killed it. And
she did a great job that night as well. It

(01:19:09):
was so damn fun being outside in the summer and
watching music doing it at Deutschetown this past weekend or
North Side Music Festival.

Speaker 3 (01:19:18):
Is now as it is now known.

Speaker 7 (01:19:21):
Plus you had the Iron City Music Festival going on
yes this weekend too. You had free shows Friday night
at Heartwood or at south Park and then Sunday at Heartwood,
So there is no no And don't forget that Alleghany
River Trail Park which is out in Aspen Wall they're
having shows on Fridays too now. So there are just
so many damn opportunities to get out and see live

(01:19:42):
music outside. I know it's been hot and we just
got blasted with like all that rain and severe weather,
but just make sure you're getting out and about getting
off your phones and sitting down on a blanket with
a cooler and watching music where you can, or going
to places where they're vending beers and her soft drinks
and whatever, and.

Speaker 3 (01:19:59):
Go see some life.

Speaker 7 (01:20:00):
I have music out and about. It's summertime. Don't get
caught up in the grind. Remember this is summer. It
is easy to get caught up it is.

Speaker 3 (01:20:07):
You just keep working and then you're like Jesus, it's
the end of July.

Speaker 10 (01:20:11):
That's not a throwaway statement by you. I'm making a
public statement. You got to show a little service statement. Yeah,
you got to go do summer because it's easy to
not do summer. So get out there and do it. Uh,
there to listen. Abby's got your news coming up next.

Speaker 2 (01:20:25):
Well, Picklesburg is three days away, and Mick Jagger says
that fame breaks your brain.

Speaker 3 (01:20:31):
I believe that to be true.

Speaker 7 (01:20:33):
I don't know what you guys think, but I don't
think I've seen those guys brains break. We'll talk to
Kevin Gorman coming up at eight forty five, talking Bus.

Speaker 1 (01:20:41):
Chad Tyson turns your car into a sonic playground a
lot every weekday afternoon, you's got a reloaded cut from
the DVE Morning show Sports and a Workforce commercial free
rock block at three afternoons with Chad ty Sudden on DVE.

Speaker 6 (01:20:58):
Does your driveway or walkway just keep getting worse? Sunken slabs, crap,
guaranteed human.

Speaker 7 (01:21:07):
A friend of mine, she's a nutritionist, so I tried
to run things by her every once in a while.
She gave me the go ahead on the creatine. She
said that's oh, it's great for you. Yeah, she was like,
oh yeah, yeah. Even more evidence is coming out about
that now they're talking about it helping to stop cell division,
which is really big.

Speaker 1 (01:21:25):
Yes.

Speaker 3 (01:21:25):
Wow, so in terms of cancer.

Speaker 7 (01:21:28):
So now that it's a preventative or it doesn't cure anything,
but it's more of a prevention.

Speaker 4 (01:21:33):
Is it still like the one scoop is enough?

Speaker 8 (01:21:36):
Uh?

Speaker 7 (01:21:37):
Yeah, I'm doing ten miligrams. She said that was good.
Most people they say five is like the baseline. Yeah,
you can tolerate a lot more than that. But I
do it for the brain. You know, everything for me
is brain. I don't want to go through what I
saw my dad go through and I'm terrified of it.
So I do it for the brain and to get swollen. Yeah,
but it's one A, one B.

Speaker 6 (01:21:58):
They say, you're actually in terms of cognitive function, you're
supposed to hang brain.

Speaker 3 (01:22:05):
I've been doing every years Brandy Bellman and the DV
Morning Show.

Speaker 7 (01:22:10):
You know, I had a nice week off and I
was up in the lake and hanging with my family
and stuff. And I went out to dinner at this
place where it was a new restaurant and there went
to meet some friends and I got there early and
I go to the bar and I'm sitting at the
bar and the bartender is annoyed. Okay, come to find
out he's the owner, and yeah, he's working really hard.
Because somebody comes up and goes, oh, we just.

Speaker 3 (01:22:31):
Wanted to come up and say hi, and you're doing
so well, and we.

Speaker 20 (01:22:34):
Were telling everybody at the Sebenberger Club today that they
should come down here because your food is so good
and everything, and we're just so proud.

Speaker 4 (01:22:40):
Of you Johnny.

Speaker 3 (01:22:41):
And he's like miserable and he's like, I'm the only
one doing any work around here right now. I swear
to god.

Speaker 7 (01:22:46):
He's like, I just made forty gallons of sauce. Forty gallons.
I'm just it's just it's a lot. It's a lot,
and they're just trying to compliment him, and he's being
miserable to them, like they're being nice. This guy's being miserable.
So then finally he gets around to like he looks
at me, he's like, what can I get you? And
I went, I'll have forty one gallons of sauce. And

(01:23:09):
he goes, do you think you can afford that? I'm like,
I bet I could. I bet I could afford forty
one And then I go, oh, neat, I would like that.
Neat And he's like yeah, yeah right, He's like, you
you love to know how much that costs? I'm like,
how much could it cost?

Speaker 3 (01:23:27):
Yeah? Don't get weird about the money.

Speaker 7 (01:23:28):
So like, I start arguing with this guy about how
much sauce costs at his somewhat upscale bar, and my
friends come in and they're.

Speaker 3 (01:23:37):
Like, ah, right, hey, we got a table.

Speaker 7 (01:23:38):
I'm like, hold on, I'm doing something okay at the most,
like what four.

Speaker 3 (01:23:46):
Hundred dollars, I'm like, I have it, I do I
have it. He was so pissed at me. I'm like,
and the other people laughed.

Speaker 7 (01:23:55):
You know, I was trying to make light because I
thought he was being like douchey to people.

Speaker 3 (01:24:00):
We're being nice to them, and so I.

Speaker 7 (01:24:02):
Just kind of dryly said that, you know, and oh, yeah,
you think that's funny. I actually, yeah, it got a
laugh in the room. Everybody else, those guys thought it
was funny. We're just getting around. We're here to have
fun tonight. You couldn't, Yeah, you wouldn't liked to know
how much that costs. Couldn't afford it, couldn't afford my sauce. Yeah,
But it was another one of those situations where and

(01:24:23):
actually it was ended up being a lovely place full
of lovely people. But they did something at this place
that I know has been a big topic for diners,
particularly in the summertime. The musical accompaniment. Okay, when you
go to a restaurant and someone is playing, or you

(01:24:45):
go to a bar and someone is playing, there's an expectation.
The expectation that I have is that the music the musicians,
and I am one on the side of book. Musicians
have bands do that stuff. Now, the band, the expectation
of the band is to not play so loud that

(01:25:07):
the people who are there can't have a conversation.

Speaker 3 (01:25:11):
You can't.

Speaker 7 (01:25:12):
It's not a concert for you, right, It's you're the background,
and you know, we'll kind of look over and pay
attention and golf clap it every once in a while
and stuff like that. If it's a bar, maybe it
gets a little rowdi er. Maybe you're on a like
a Sunday fun day in one of the like carms.
Sometimes people will get rowdy down there. That's cool, that's
a different vibe, Tobe. But when you're eating dinner and

(01:25:33):
they're banging you for like thirty bucks a plate, and
there's a three piece band of dudes singing super loud
and like playing their instruments really really loud, and you
can't talk to the people next to you.

Speaker 3 (01:25:48):
The entire dinner. It drives me crazy.

Speaker 7 (01:25:51):
And all they would need to do is turn down,
Like the music is fine, the music is great, the
band's amazing, Just turn it down.

Speaker 3 (01:25:57):
What were they playing?

Speaker 7 (01:25:59):
They play cool tunes, you know, they're playing like John
prinzones and stuff like that. They had a mandolin, a
guitar player, and a stand up bass. I'm like, oh,
this would be cool.

Speaker 4 (01:26:05):
But then it was just like, yeah, it doesn't have
to be that loud, just based on those instruments, right.

Speaker 7 (01:26:11):
And so I've seen this conversation on TikTok and on
reels where people are like wondering, well, what the hell
I'm in a bar. I just want to talk to
my buddies, And there's some dude, and a lot of
times what happens to when people first start playing like
an acoustic guitar and they buy a PA, they don't
really know how to mix it for the room and
it's not really shrill and things like that, and that happens,

(01:26:33):
and then there's the defense of the musicians who say like, hey, no,
he's hired to do a job and that's what he's doing,
versus the people who are sitting at the bar going
I just want to be able to talk to my
buddies though, And I think that this is like as
easily fixable as when you're in a bar and you
say something like, hey, the Pirates game ended four hours
ago and you still have it on that channel and

(01:26:55):
they're just showing there are other games on.

Speaker 3 (01:26:58):
Can you change the channel to.

Speaker 7 (01:26:59):
The hockey game? And then someone's like, uh, yeah, I'll
get the manager to me. How did it go that
long without anybody noticing it?

Speaker 3 (01:27:07):
Number one? Number two? Why doesn't everyone know how.

Speaker 21 (01:27:10):
To just go like?

Speaker 3 (01:27:11):
That should be something? I think it should be more important. Also,
turn down the music. Those are the two things.

Speaker 4 (01:27:16):
Yeah, that's it.

Speaker 3 (01:27:17):
I think those are you know, I'm coming back griping.
There's you know they're they're I.

Speaker 4 (01:27:22):
Don't Yeah, I couldn't hear anything.

Speaker 3 (01:27:25):
The guy said, I was poor. You can't afford you.
You can't afford it, gallus. What do he look at you.

Speaker 4 (01:27:32):
Sound like a little like insult, like you can't afford
this sauce?

Speaker 7 (01:27:35):
Well, I think it's like all right, so he he
sells it right, So I think it's like I would
imagine it's like, all right, let's say twelve dollars a jar. Right,
So how many sixteen ounce jars are in a gallon?
I'm bad with volume eight? Okay, so eight.

Speaker 3 (01:27:52):
So if he has forty, that's three hundred and twenty
of them. OKAYR It is a lot, but I get
all right, I could afford it.

Speaker 4 (01:27:57):
You can't afford it.

Speaker 7 (01:27:59):
And yeah, I'm gonna use credit. Yeah, I mean it's
about thirty six grand or something or three six hundred.
I'll be paying it off. Yeah you couldn't afford it.
Oh yes, you don't think I can afford it, Just
pull out the credit card.

Speaker 3 (01:28:12):
I want it all now.

Speaker 2 (01:28:14):
I have to have it.

Speaker 7 (01:28:15):
It'll go nicely with my mustard. Well, let me tell
you about the mustard. I did the first unfreezing okay
this week because, for those who don't remember, I bought
four gallons of my favorite mustard because they went out
of productions. They stopped making it, and I just went
online to see what I could order, and some restaurant
depot had four gallons of it, so I thought I

(01:28:37):
was buying one gallon, about four, So I defrosted the
first one.

Speaker 3 (01:28:42):
It's fine. You didn't have to restir it or anything delicious.

Speaker 7 (01:28:46):
It's fine, No, no, it little shake it up. It
was totally fine. Feeling pretty good about that purchase.

Speaker 4 (01:28:51):
Now, yeah, now, who's the idiot?

Speaker 3 (01:28:54):
It's right, that's right. You don't think I can afford
the sauce. You should see how I work with mustard.
They all laughed at me, they said I was a fool.
Here's what I'm wondering the what's the diarrhea called the
sister spat like glosporiases? I mean, what are the chances
that that gets into tomatoes?

Speaker 2 (01:29:16):
I mean tomatoes, let's see, are easily washable.

Speaker 3 (01:29:21):
Right, you can't wash it off.

Speaker 11 (01:29:23):
You can't.

Speaker 7 (01:29:23):
No, you cannot. I'm telling you right now. You can't
wash this off. You can't wash it off with vinegar.
You can't wash it off with water.

Speaker 3 (01:29:29):
You have to cook it.

Speaker 7 (01:29:31):
It will not wash off if you don't. If you
think like washing your tomatoes is gonna work, you're gonna
be sitting at your desk at work and just all
of a sudden, well, wash that explosive diarrhea.

Speaker 4 (01:29:49):
The sauce would have been fine because you can cook it.

Speaker 3 (01:29:52):
Yeah, that's true.

Speaker 7 (01:29:53):
So pizza is okay, Yeah, thank god, thank god. So
right there, But you have to cook your vegetables, and
you can't eat any fruit for a while. I mean
you can christ fruit, cook the fruit. What's the good
cooked fruit? There are none?

Speaker 3 (01:30:09):
Not apple. I just had a broke. That would have
been so bad. It would have got mean so much
hard apple. Yeah like a pie? Sure, yeah, bake it
in a pie.

Speaker 4 (01:30:19):
All your fruit needs to go into a pie.

Speaker 3 (01:30:21):
All right? Nothing but pies, Nothing but pies. You couldn't
afford it. You can't can't afford it. Broke guy?

Speaker 7 (01:30:29):
What what a.

Speaker 3 (01:30:31):
I guess he is going through. It is no, but
I heard from other people that are like, oh, that
guy's the worst.

Speaker 7 (01:30:37):
And I just didn't understand why he was bitching and
complaining the customers. And it was like a nice vibe,
you know what I mean, Like like usually the owners
kind of like, oh, welcome, well, yeah, we're working hard.

Speaker 3 (01:30:48):
Oh it's good to see you. He's just like this sucks.
I'm doing my job.

Speaker 2 (01:30:52):
When I'm upset about it, it's like, yeah, no, you
have to make forty gallons of sauce.

Speaker 3 (01:30:57):
You own a rest.

Speaker 7 (01:31:00):
Like he's furious at me, like red face, what you think?
I honestly I thought he was gonna laugh.

Speaker 6 (01:31:09):
You don't even know how thin the margins are here.
I mean it's tight, damn you, bowman. He just hops
over the bar and just starts beating me to it.
For you're getting pummeled, You're.

Speaker 3 (01:31:29):
Like, and the music's too loud too. This guy comes
over with his mandolin and just starts with it. I
respect that place. I support. It's just too bad, and
then of course it all ends with me.

Speaker 7 (01:31:52):
On the floor explosive diarrhea from sistos ipoor iosis my khakis. No,
I had one pair of shorts. I had one pair
of shorts and three shirts for ten days. Awesome, isn't
it sort of liberating?

Speaker 3 (01:32:08):
Though it's the best. I just when you don't have
any you're not paralyzed by choice.

Speaker 7 (01:32:13):
Yeah yeah, but also you kind of feel like an idiot,
Like after you've worn it all twice, you're like, I
kind of feel like an idiot.

Speaker 3 (01:32:20):
Think about buying another pair of shorts. No, I wasn't
going that far. I mean I did have a pair.
I had, like a pair of workout shorts that I
worked at the gym.

Speaker 6 (01:32:28):
But it's good to have easy access, do you know
what this is?

Speaker 3 (01:32:35):
Why I wish I would have had another pair of shorts.

Speaker 7 (01:32:38):
So I was going to see where Al Yankovic because
he was playing up there, and highest recommendation to everybody
here in Pittsburgh to go see the Weird Al Yankovic show.
It was so entertaining, and I've seen him before, this
was the best I've ever seen him, and it was
quite possibly the greatest encore I have ever seen.

Speaker 3 (01:32:59):
The music is.

Speaker 7 (01:33:00):
Through the roof and if you like I think Weird
Al is unbelievably funny. This show will make you laugh
your ass off. And don't miss Puddles the clown Puddles
Pity Party as the opener, because that is hilariously unique
as well.

Speaker 3 (01:33:14):
But I call an uber. It comes and picks me up.
And as I opened the door, I noticed there's like
a stain on the seat. It's a lift.

Speaker 11 (01:33:21):
You know, when you see a.

Speaker 7 (01:33:21):
Stain, You're like that Staine's been there forever, you know,
because a lot of these cars are just kind of nasty,
and so I just, for some reason take for granted
that stain has been there for a while, and I
sat down in the As I sat I go, hey,
this stain back here has been here for a while,
I'm guessing, And he goes, what and I'm like, oh no,

(01:33:42):
and then I reach underneath soaking we and it's I mean,
it's it's like you know, yeah big, I'm you know,
it's like three inches circumference.

Speaker 3 (01:33:53):
And I'm like, what did I just sit in?

Speaker 22 (01:33:55):
He goes, oh, man, a woman had a baby back No,
And I'm like, did I just sit in baby p
And he goes, I don't know.

Speaker 3 (01:34:07):
She had a bottle. It could be a bottle. And
I'm like, why did you look back here? He's like, well,
you just sat on it.

Speaker 7 (01:34:13):
And I'm like, well, because I thought you wouldn't let
me sit in pee, So I'll.

Speaker 3 (01:34:18):
Leave one pair of shorts. I'm like, you gotta wait here.

Speaker 7 (01:34:20):
And I had to go inside and I washed off
my shorts and took a hair dryer and I was
like what you like, did the quick dry?

Speaker 3 (01:34:27):
I'm like, don't leave and I got it. And then
so then I got out there.

Speaker 7 (01:34:31):
I'm like I can't believe this, and you go, sir,
if you would like to take another car, I'm like, no,
I need to get in your car.

Speaker 3 (01:34:37):
I'm late for the show now.

Speaker 7 (01:34:39):
And he's like, well you can. You know, if you're
all angry, you can I can't help it. I'm like, look, man,
I'm not angry at you. I'm angry at the system.

Speaker 3 (01:34:47):
Mangrate the pea, the system.

Speaker 7 (01:34:49):
That makes you drive so fast one fare to another
that you don't check for baby pa in the back,
or the people are so grossly let their baby p.

Speaker 6 (01:34:59):
When you said the woman had a baby back there,
I was like, like, labor, That's what I thought too.

Speaker 7 (01:35:06):
He's like, I thought she got it out of cleat.
I heard have been a one hopper paramedic caught the baby.

Speaker 3 (01:35:16):
Of a of a one hop He's like, I was
just going on the road. I heard a few moons
and then baby baby.

Speaker 7 (01:35:27):
Anyways, weird El's are not for a half hour, You'll
be fine. He's like, some guy had sauce back there.
Weird Al's awesomest. First go selling that show at star Lake.
You will laugh so hard. First of all, the smartest
thing he did is he hired more musicians for his

(01:35:49):
band that are young, and there's like these I'm actually
like just smoking hot beautiful girls who are incredible musicians
and they dance and jump around and they're badass players
and they sing like birds. So he has like eight
part harmonies going, and it gives the stage so much
energy because they're you know, weird Alan his original band,

(01:36:10):
they're older fellows. And now it's like the stage is
popping and all of the video edits that he does
in between the songs when he does costume changes are
just fall down funny. Like it's really fun. The entire show.
You are entertained NonStop. And he does probably ten eleven
costume changes maybe more.

Speaker 4 (01:36:31):
Wow, that's a killer. When he gets like fat, does
he have to change his face too? Does he wear
like a face post.

Speaker 7 (01:36:37):
Yeah, he puts on the fat suit and then they
like glue a thing under his under his chin like that.

Speaker 3 (01:36:45):
And we were wondering.

Speaker 7 (01:36:46):
We were like, because when you walk into a weird
Ause show, the great thing about it is there is
a weird al fan archetype, you know, like they all
look like weird elf fans.

Speaker 3 (01:36:55):
And I mean that is the compliment.

Speaker 4 (01:36:57):
We can picture it.

Speaker 3 (01:36:58):
It's a comic book guy, you know what I mean.
But because he's so.

Speaker 7 (01:37:04):
You know, he's been Rabbit so long, people are taking
their kids and the kids are so into it, like
way into it, and they're they're like costuming for it
and like some of them were dressed up in Star
Wars stuff, or like you know that uh my my,
uh this here Anakin guy that you know the Lukes
Cow Darth Vader song, and.

Speaker 3 (01:37:23):
You're just like walking into this vibe.

Speaker 7 (01:37:26):
Of everybody is waiting to have so much fun that
I don't know, it's it's hard to not enjoy yourself
the entire time.

Speaker 6 (01:37:36):
He was a monstrous deal. Like he released that album
in the nineties that, yeah, Amish Paradise is on.

Speaker 3 (01:37:45):
He did that. I really can't tell you how. I mean,
that was a smash.

Speaker 6 (01:37:50):
At the time, so successful and like you know, got
him a whole generation of fans.

Speaker 7 (01:37:58):
Yeah, well he does a whole I mean he had
a bunch of new ones of songs like Party in
the USA and stuff like that, but even much newer
songs than that, where I didn't know a couple of
the things you spoofing. As a matter of fact, I
went to the bathroom and some guy like sidled up
next to me and he goes, but enjoyed this a
lot more.

Speaker 3 (01:38:13):
If I knew half the songs he was playing, you know,
And I was like, we don't talk it to Arnal,
all right, there's no talking it to Arnel.

Speaker 7 (01:38:22):
Anyways, if you are on the fence of going, I'm
telling you right now you will go and have the
best time ever and your kids can enjoy it. And
it's weird. Now there's nobody like him. It's really funny.
All right, Sorry, I just yanked the wheel there. The
caffeine's working.

Speaker 4 (01:38:38):
Leslie's monny and hot today high ninety.

Speaker 7 (01:38:40):
Yeah, Bucco's just whoop bass this weekend against the brew Crew.
And it's so bizarre to think that a year ago
at this time they were the worst offense in the
league and now that the best going into the All
Star break. Kevin Gorman talks about what's next for the
Buckos after the break and what we can expect from

(01:39:05):
I won't say Bob Nutting, but I'm not exactly sure
that they're gonna be movers or shakers or sellers.

Speaker 3 (01:39:14):
I'm not exactly sure. I think they're gonna be Stan Patters. Yeah,
let's see what Kevin thinks about that. Coming up eight
forty five.

Speaker 7 (01:39:21):
And as we said earlier, tonight, the Pittsburgh Power Ballad
Challenge Final will be recorded live to tape and broadcast
back to you Friday morning. And you'll find out who
this year's Pittsburgh power Ballad Challenge winner is.

Speaker 3 (01:39:31):

where I go, I always listen.

Speaker 8 (01:39:36):

Speaker 3 (01:39:49):

Brought to you by Bridgeville Appliance.

Speaker 10 (01:39:54):
We mentioned today the sweeps are pretty unlikely in Major
League Baseball these days. The Pirates getting a sweep of
the Brewers this weekend definitely qualifies. Brewers came in on fire.
Pirates were scuffling again after revealing their wars against the
Atlanta Braves, and nonetheless, the Bucks wind up with their

(01:40:18):
first sweep since April. The doubleheader Saturday is what I'm
talking about. Their first doubleheader sweep since April of twenty
twenty three, in their first at home since twenty twenty one,
that propelled them to a three game series over the Bruce,
which was unlikely. If you've been watching the Pirates, you

(01:40:40):
know there's ways that are probably going to win games,
and ways they're probably going to lose games, and this
one was all three of these way outside the margins.

Speaker 3 (01:40:48):
Yeah, seven six.

Speaker 10 (01:40:50):
In the first game on Saturday, Bucks were down six
to three in the bottom of the seventh and as
Marilyn Valdez hits a grand slam that holds up as
the game winner, Ruwers loaded the bases against Gregorysoto in
the top of the ninth, a walk and an air
by Jared Triolo contributing to that dilemma, and then Andrew
Vaughan hits a grounder to third. Nick go Zalez steps

(01:41:13):
on third, and rather than throw across the diamond for
the force out at first, which would have been an
easy out, throws home for a tag play. Fortunately, Christian
Yelich wasn't running. He was just kind of jogging in
the home. He thought it's going to force out at
first anyways, Either that or he thought there was two
outs and the infield out would end it. I don't

(01:41:33):
know what he was thinking, but the old five to
two double play to end it in game one. Then
in game two, the Pirates only get four and two
thirds innings out of Bubba Chandler. He threw ninety seven
pitches in four and two thirds innings. Everybody was going
crazy because he went over one hundred miles an hour
a couple of times. So what right, ninety seven pitches

(01:41:56):
in four and two third innings is not good enough?

Speaker 3 (01:41:59):
Agreed?

Speaker 10 (01:42:00):
But somehow the Pirates run five relievers at the Brewers
from there, and they combined for four and a third
innings of two hitch shutout ball. The Bucks hang on
and win that one three to two, and then yesterday
fourteen to five, another offensive eruption. But the guy's doing
most of the erupting were Marcelo Ozuna, Jared Triolo, and

(01:42:21):
Henry Davis.

Speaker 7 (01:42:23):
Home runs for Davis and Ozuna. Good for Ozuna. Like
I said, perfect time, let's deal him. He's getting hot.
Give them to somebody else.

Speaker 10 (01:42:31):
Couldn't agree more. And I'm not sure about the eventual return.
We know Connor Griffin is out until at least September.
So you put Cruz. You think Cruz and Horwitz are
getting close, right, I mean.

Speaker 7 (01:42:42):
It'd have to be Cruise especially, it would have to
be but I wouldn't mind seeing Cruise, DH deal Ozuna,
keep mangam in at center and uh it's a pretty
formidable lineup right there.

Speaker 3 (01:42:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 10 (01:42:54):
And the guy that's really, you know, changed the landscape
in terms of Ozuna being needed is Valdez, who went
berserk against Milwaukee five for twelve, three homers, nine RBI
in three games. He's played twenty eight games for the Pirates,
one hundred and five played appearances, ninety four at bats.
He's got ten home runs in twenty seven RBI. And

(01:43:15):
he's not just pulling the ball. The Grand Slam was
the other way to right field.

Speaker 3 (01:43:20):
He seems to have an idea of how to hit. Yeah,
his approaches are good. I don't know.

Speaker 10 (01:43:26):
This guy might not be a flash in the pen.
He might just be a good player that they have
stumbled upon.

Speaker 3 (01:43:32):
We'll see.

Speaker 10 (01:43:33):
It's the All Star break now for the Buckos, and
they're in They're still not in good shape in the
NL Central. They're nine and a half games behind Milwaukee
after sweeping the Brewers, they're not going to make that up.

Speaker 7 (01:43:43):
I wish the All Star break would have happened last
week so that we had more World Cup soccer in between,
because now we only have two games this week and
they're both at three.

Speaker 10 (01:43:52):
O'clock Tuesday and Wednesday, Parks are four excuse me, they're
two back of Miami for the third wild card, but
there are only four and a half games behind.

Speaker 3 (01:44:04):
The Cubs, who are the first wild card.

Speaker 10 (01:44:06):
There are eight teams, excuse me, seven teams within six
and a half games or fewer of the Cubs, and
there are still two spots to get after the Cubs.

Speaker 3 (01:44:18):
This is gonna be insane.

Speaker 10 (01:44:20):
Chicago, Philly, Miami, Saint Louis, Pittsburgh, Arizona, San Diego, Washington.
All those teams are playoff contenders.

Speaker 3 (01:44:26):
I think somebody is going to add, somebody's going to
get hot. I'm gonna have to earn this one.

Speaker 7 (01:44:36):
I am still burned too much from the previous years
to think that they'll do it right. Either, they wouldn't
sell enough, I get it. I think they won't buy enough.

Speaker 10 (01:44:46):
The standing Patters, I think is the most likely of
the three outcomes, and so tad things. I think they're
unlikely to sell because they've invested too much in it,
and you know, unless they start the second half and
go one to nine or something like.

Speaker 7 (01:45:00):
Standing pat is a kind of giving up to me,
though I would agree, but the market, they're gonna have
to like really overpay, right, I mean, so many teams.

Speaker 3 (01:45:08):
Are still in it. That's the price of pork, you know.
I'm I mean, I'm into it.

Speaker 6 (01:45:12):
I would like I just feel like they're not gonna
which two weeks ago or even last week, I thought
there was a chance that they would deal low, which
would be yes, that would cause great anger to me.

Speaker 7 (01:45:28):
Oh yeah, so leading home run hitter on the team. Yeah,
but on a one year deal, yep. I mean they
should extend them, is what they really should.

Speaker 3 (01:45:37):
Do, no question. We've all seen this movie before, right, Yeah,
of course they should.

Speaker 10 (01:45:45):
Even you know, they haven't made the playoffs since twenty fifteen,
but there have been a couple of seasons where there
was some reason to talk yourself into optimism at the
All Star break.

Speaker 11 (01:45:55):
But I.

Speaker 10 (01:45:57):
The more I watched this team, the more I think
it can be better. But the more I'm becoming convinced
it won't be. Why Because he's I don't know that
these starting pitchers, Ashcraft's been their best guy.

Speaker 19 (01:46:10):
Right.

Speaker 10 (01:46:11):
We got to as soon be approaching the point where
they stopped saying, well, he can't pitch anymore because he's
pitched a way more innings then he pitched last year.

Speaker 7 (01:46:20):
Well, there is a kicking the can down the road
mentality that the team has. It's like the Jared Jones
thing last week. They're still treating Skeens with relative kid gloves. Yeah, Like,
he just pitched yesterday, right, so he's not gonna pitch Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday,
or Thursday.

Speaker 3 (01:46:34):
They play again Friday.

Speaker 10 (01:46:36):
He should start the first game against Cleveland, and then
he's available to pitch against the Yankees, to.

Speaker 3 (01:46:41):
Pitch an inning on Tuesday.

Speaker 10 (01:46:42):
He's pitching because he pitched yesterday. Oh, but I bet
they don't start him Friday.

Speaker 7 (01:46:50):
I mean, do you see the picture of Skeens and
Livy Dunn in the private jet on the way of
the All Star Game. No, you know, she didn't have
her seatbelt on, and I didn't think that was very safe.
And it's not just a pirates problem, but the way
pitchers are treated. And that's if the bullpen has any
chance to be better, they're gonna have to go get
some guys. But beyond that, they're gonna have to get

(01:47:11):
innings out of these starters. And I just don't know
that they have the starters that can do it, or
they're interested in doing that.

Speaker 3 (01:47:17):
Where did you land on how they treated Jared Jones
last week? It's ridiculous.

Speaker 10 (01:47:24):
I never for a second thought he was going to
complete a nine inning perfect game, because I never thought
they let him for that. But he should have gone
out for the seventh because that's one fewer reliever you
have to use if he pitches seventh.

Speaker 3 (01:47:36):
Yeah, and he was dealing, Yeah, I mean, let him deal.
You know, there's times when a guy's just on.

Speaker 10 (01:47:44):
And it was one of those games that was a
reliever that was in the same boat, and they took
came out and went to Santana.

Speaker 3 (01:47:50):
I forget who it was.

Speaker 10 (01:47:51):
And Soto went through the eighth inning eleven pitches, and
they took him out and put Santana in.

Speaker 7 (01:47:58):
Santana gave up a game lose home run. It is
curious the way they're handling things. The way they've been
handling Majinski has alway has been a little crazy. Also,
Oh god, that's getting ridiculous. Let's talk to Kevin Gorman
about it. Well, we'll do a break, we'll come back.
We'll talk with Kevin Gorman at the trib abbe. You'll
have your news at the top of the hour.

Speaker 4 (01:48:15):

Speaker 20 (01:48:34):

since nineteen seventy eight is are.

Speaker 3 (01:48:39):
You Randy damind the TV morning show?

Speaker 7 (01:48:42):
Well, my pursuit of tab whistle in the studio with me,
welcoming our friend from the trib Bucks beat writer Kevin Gorman.

Speaker 3 (01:48:49):
Gorm, good morning, how are you, buddy.

Speaker 21 (01:48:52):
I'm doing good, recovering from covering a doubleheader in the
draft on the same day, which was just kind of
mind boggling, but a good weekend for the Bucket.

Speaker 7 (01:49:01):
A great weekend for the Buckles. Fifteen and forty seven
at the All Star Break. The most prolific offense in
the major leagues. Not something I saw coming this year.
It certainly has made it an entertaining season to this point,
but not exactly the mo I thought this team was
going to use to get to fifty and forty seven

(01:49:22):
at the All.

Speaker 3 (01:49:22):
Star Break, No, not at all.

Speaker 21 (01:49:26):
I mean, everything was about the foundation being the starting
pitching instead. You know, the Pirates, which they ranked dead
last in home runs, RBIs, runs scored, slugging in ops.
Those were the categories where they were the worst team
in baseball. They're in the top six in every one
of those categories, first in RBIs and tied for first

(01:49:47):
and run scored, and lead the majors in batting average.
It's been a major, an impressive and amazing transformation to
see them go for one of the worst offenses in
baseball to one of the very best, and to do
so what you know, for large chunks without first Ryan O'Hearn,
then Connor Griffin, now O'Neil Cruz and Spencer Horwitz. I mean,
they've lost some key bats during that time. So that's why,

(01:50:09):
you know, I think he's very aptly nicknamed the Magician.
Ezmerlin Valdez has just been a real revelation for the Pirates.

Speaker 10 (01:50:17):
I still like Exon, but the offense has been great,
no disputing that. Can can you possibly envision late August
through September where the starting pitchers are throwing seven when
they're capable?

Speaker 3 (01:50:33):
Are they even interested in that? Will last craft even
be playing?

Speaker 21 (01:50:36):
Then that's that's a big question, you know, because Ashcraft
as at one hundred and thirteen and a third innings,
I believe, and he threw one hundred and eighteen innings
last season, so you figure, I mean, they can only
go a certain threshold above the previous year. You're not
going to go one hundred innings above or even you know,
seventy or eighty innings above. So I'm not sure at

(01:50:59):
some point that we're going to see Ashcraft or Bubba
Chandler or Jared Jones or somebody moved to the bullpen
and we see Karen Maginsky return to the rotation, and
it seems to be that's that's kind of what you know.
Ben Cherrington wasn't really interested in revealing the plan, but
the Pirates have kind of indicated that they're keeping Maginsky

(01:51:20):
on something of a starter starting Pitcher's schedule, because he's
going to pitch one game and give you two or
three innings, and then he's going to require several days
of recovery and then be available to go a little
deeper into a game the next time. And that's all
to keep him stretched out so that if he does
have to return to the rotation and throw six or
seven innings that it's not going to be, you know,

(01:51:43):
something that's dangerous for him. So it certainly seems like
at some point they're going to have to move some
starting pitching around and put them in the pen to preserve,
you know, their their arms, because these guys just don't
have the mileage on them to be able to make
that jump. So I think you're going to se than
lean more heavily on schemes in Keller and a little
less so on Ashcraft, Chandler and Jones. You know, but

(01:52:07):
that's why they're being protective of these pitchers, which you know,
I heard you guys say this earlier. But you know,
it's like they're talking about tomorrow, but you have to
live for today. You have to get your team in
the race.

Speaker 11 (01:52:18):
You know.

Speaker 21 (01:52:18):
If you want to be a team that's going to
be in the playoff hunt, you have to stay in
the playoff hunt. Leading into the trade deadline.

Speaker 7 (01:52:24):
They're constantly talking about worrying about a tomorrow that never comes,
because when they get there, they're still worrying about tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (01:52:34):
It's amazing when you think about that.

Speaker 21 (01:52:36):
They're fifty and forty seven, which is in fourth place.
Nine and a half games back. They're only two out
of the wild card. But this is the first time
they've gone into the All Star Break with a winning
record above five hundred since twenty sixteen. I mean, that's
a damning statistic right there.

Speaker 7 (01:52:52):
Yeah, we were kicking around the idea of adding or
subtracting buyers or seller that's a deadline here, and I
came up with the Hey, let's get rid of Ozuna
and d h o'neo Cruz, keep Mangham in center. If
they do buy, where do you see him buying? Because
I would think bullpen help would be exactly what they

(01:53:13):
need right now. In the past, it's always been a bat.
But certainly that's not the case this year. No, you know,
there's still you know, some question marks at third base.
You know, whether Nickensolo is after the five two double play. Defensively,
whether he's good enough there, whether they can move Triola there,
given that Connor Griffin is out, that would certainly help
out defensively. Trill has been you know, pretty good offensively

(01:53:36):
the last few weeks, but you know that's.

Speaker 3 (01:53:37):
Not his calling card with with the offensive.

Speaker 21 (01:53:42):
It wouldn't shock me if the Pirates you know, obviously
bullpen help is the main priority. But the one way
they could get bullpen help is if they acquired a
starting pitcher. And you know, they don't have a lefty
in this rotation. So you know, I've seen somebody suggest
like Foster Griffin, the All star left hander from the
Washington Nationals, who's not only you know, an all star

(01:54:05):
right now coming off a really good first half, but
also is affordable at five and a half million dollar contract.
So you don't have to break the bank to get
somebody like that. You probably give up some you know,
good prospects and get a guy for a team. You know,
Washington right now is still in the mix, but they
could fade and that that would be an interesting one
is you added an arm that you don't have to

(01:54:26):
worry about. You just go out there and throw Foster
Griffin until his arm falls off, because he's going to
be a free agent at the end of the season.
And so it's not about, you know, planning for the future,
it's about living in the now.

Speaker 10 (01:54:38):
Kevin Whola is responsible for the absolute debacle that was
the scheduling of those two games on Saturday.

Speaker 21 (01:54:47):
Yeah, I'd love to know that one because you know,
they didn't announce until I think after eight o'clock that
the game was being postponed. The players were long gone
by the time they announced it. They let the players
and coaches and everybody get out of the stadium to
avoid the fireworks crowd, And they had fireworks going off
while it was still daylight, so it looked just like

(01:55:08):
for the most part, just big puffs of smoke, and
you could see a few fireworks here and there, and
they put on quite a display, I guess as it
went on.

Speaker 3 (01:55:15):
But it was a it was it kind of a
debacle and coming and that.

Speaker 21 (01:55:21):
Contributed to Milwaukee being chippy the rest of the weekend
because then they had to play, you know, a doubleheader
and then you know, they scratched Mierowski. It was that
was one where it seemed like the Brewers couldn't get
out of town fast enough.

Speaker 7 (01:55:33):
The home team front office is responsible for determining the
makeup date and time for an MLB game that is
rained out before it reaches official status.

Speaker 3 (01:55:45):
Yeah, how the hell do they sandwich those that close?

Speaker 10 (01:55:48):
I was in that massive humanity Saturday trying to get
to the four o'clock game.

Speaker 3 (01:55:52):
They wouldn't let me in Yeah, that was a disaster.
And you know, and they do that when the Major League.

Speaker 21 (01:55:58):
Baseball Draft is going on too, So I mean it
was just a very complicated Saturday in a lot of ways,
you know, trying to for me, trying to cover the
draft while watching a double header, and you know the
excitement of somebody said, oh, you know that as Merlin Valdez,
that was amazing the grand flame, and I was like, yeah,
I was downstairs watching the draft.

Speaker 3 (01:56:15):
I heard it, but I didn't see it. You know,
that was, you know, disappointing.

Speaker 21 (01:56:19):
It was just a cluster all the way around.

Speaker 7 (01:56:22):
Kevin Gorman from the trip Buccos at fifty and forty
seven going into the All Star break and the derby
tonight in Philadelphia.

Speaker 3 (01:56:30):
I'm guessing you're not going.

Speaker 6 (01:56:31):
To cover that.

Speaker 21 (01:56:33):
No, but you know, I think Brandon Lot might have
been hopeful that he would have been a last minute edition.
You know, that was a guy who had a first
half that was worthy of an All Star appearance, no question.
Let me throw this number out you but about Valdez.
O'Neil Cruz went on the injured list on June tenth.
Since June eleventh, you know, you guys mentioned Valdez's numbers

(01:56:56):
since June eleventh. This is a twenty three game stretch,
three forty six batting average, four oh two on base
one point one five to nine ohps, six doubles, a triple,
eight homers, twenty two RBIs.

Speaker 11 (01:57:09):
To put that into perspective, number.

Speaker 3 (01:57:12):
One was one point one five nine ops.

Speaker 21 (01:57:17):
Oh my god, Just to put that in perspective, O'Neil
Kruz was having an outstanding season. He had a little
prolonged slump there at one stretch, but two sixty four
batting average, three fifty on base eight twenty two ops,
ten doubles, fourteen homers, forty four RBIs in sixty four games.
I mean, I mean, the Pirates couldn't have asked for

(01:57:38):
anything better than you know, And here's Magnum's numbers since
June tenth, three forty three, three ninety three, four fifty
four slash line, seven doubles, a triple, a homer, and
ten RBIs. They couldn't have prayed for, you know, two
guys to step in and fill O'Neil Cruz's shoes the
way that those two have, and it's really given them
the luxury of considering, as you guys mentioned, what to

(01:58:01):
do when Cruz comes back, because they do, they could
move on from Azuna, or they could just make them
a pen you know, very expensive pinch hitter. But it
gives you the opportunity to either cycle Cruise or Spencer
Horwitz or a low Reynolds O'Hearn through the DH spot
and keep Valdez in the lineup and right field and
preserve O'Hearn's legs so he can stay at first base.

(01:58:22):
I mean, there's a lot of possibilities with this Pirates
team when everybody gets healthy. And that's not even counting
Connor Griffin, who should be back sometime in early to
mid September. So you know, this is a team that has,
you know, to go into the trade deadline and not
have to worry about acquiring bats and to be able
to focus on pitching, whether it's in the rotation or
the bullpen is a real luxury for the Pirates if

(01:58:43):
they can keep everybody healthy, which is this season has
been a huge if.

Speaker 3 (01:58:47):
Kevin Gorman from the trip. Always a pleasure, Budd, Thanks
so much for talking next week, Hey, thanks for having me, Solos.
All right, we'll see you.

Speaker 8 (01:58:52):

I went out to dinner at this place where it
was a new restaurant and there went to meet some
friends and I got there early, and I go to
the bar and I'm sitting at the bar and the
bartender is annoyed. Okay, come to find out he's the owner,
and yeah, he's working really hard. Because somebody comes up
and goes, oh.

Speaker 3 (01:59:51):
We just wanted to come up and say hi, and
you're doing so well.

Speaker 20 (01:59:53):
And we were telling everybody at the Sebenberger Club today
that they should come down here because your food is
so good and everything and we're just so Johnny.

Speaker 3 (02:00:00):
And he's like miserable, and he's like, I'm the only
one doing any work around here right now. I swear
to god.

Speaker 7 (02:00:06):
He's like, I just made forty gallons of sauce. Forty gallons.
I'm just it's just it's a lot. It's a lot,
and they're just trying to compliment him, and he's being
miserable to them, Like they're being nice. This guy's being miserable.
So then finally he gets around to like he looks
at me, he's like, what can I get you? And
I went, I'll have forty one gallons of sauce.

Speaker 5 (02:00:26):
Randy Bellman and the DV Morning Show. Yeah, you would
like to know how much that costs when you could
afford him? What a weird you got saucemugged Randy. I
did get sauce, Mogg, But it was it was just
the fun. Like my buddy was laughing so hard and
he's like, only you would do that. I'm like, well,
I just thought I was like helping the room vity, like,

(02:00:47):
because the guy was just being unpleasant, you know.

Speaker 7 (02:00:50):
And if I was like, I'll have a Tito soda,
you know, then you know, I don't know. Then that
guy miserably makes me a tito soda. But I thought
I might have got to chuckle out of him instead.

Speaker 3 (02:00:59):
Anger.

Speaker 7 (02:01:00):
Yeah, resentment, that's right. I got saucemogs. I got saucemog.
It's okay, I deserved it.

Speaker 3 (02:01:08):
Abby's got a news up there for you. What's going on?

Speaker 2 (02:01:10):
Is this hour brought to you by Better call Sy
Mostly sunny and hot and high of ninety. The annual
Picklesburg Festival is set to be held July sixteenth through
the nineteenth in downtown Pittsburgh.

Speaker 4 (02:01:21):
The event kicked off in twenty fifteen.

Speaker 2 (02:01:23):
It's grown with each passing year, obviously a lot of
pickle related food options, including pickle egg rolls, pickled Parogi's,
pickled beizza. This year, Picklesburg also includes an expanded footprint,
incorporating the newly renovated Market Square as well as the
new Arts landing. Jeremy Waldrop, who's the president and CEO

(02:01:44):
of the Pittsburgh Downtown I don't know, let's call them
a coalition, also offered advice for Picklesburg goers navigating the
twenty five day Parkway East closure that began on July
the tenth, saying that they're encouraging folks to take mass transit,
but that there's plenty of alternative ways to get in.

(02:02:05):
He said, quote, you have four days this year to
make it happen. If I were you, I would look
at our Thursday and Friday afternoons. They tend to be
some of the slowest times in the festival.

Speaker 7 (02:02:14):
Well, my sister has coming into town with her daughters
on Thursday, and they are the kind of people where
my sister would would hate this, but my nieces, who
are adults, would love the kitchiness of it. So I
am one taking them through pickles Burg. Hell yeah, just
to make my sister miserable.

Speaker 3 (02:02:33):
It's fine.

Speaker 4 (02:02:35):
Don't you love it here?

Speaker 7 (02:02:36):
Because she's like, I want to go to the War
Hall and then go to dinner. I'm like, you got it,
bougie chick. We'll do the boogiest Pittsburgh experience I can think.

Speaker 1 (02:02:43):
Of for you.

Speaker 3 (02:02:44):
And then that is decidedly unbougie.

Speaker 7 (02:02:48):
And they're like, your bully's gonna be chugging pickle juice
on the Clemente Bridge.

Speaker 6 (02:02:53):
Go go ninety degrees, Want a cup of vinegar? Wait
a minute, pickles Oh no, the explosion. They have to
be safe, right, They're so cucumber.

Speaker 4 (02:03:05):
They're cucumbers, but they're soaked in stuff.

Speaker 3 (02:03:09):
Right, there's but to vinegar.

Speaker 7 (02:03:11):
I don't know because they said vinegar like rinses on
vegetables and fruits don't work to get rid of the
diarrhea bug.

Speaker 2 (02:03:20):
Diarrhea bug because we can't say cycles spurs.

Speaker 4 (02:03:28):
The diarrhea bug, the.

Speaker 3 (02:03:29):
Diarya bug no.

Speaker 7 (02:03:31):
Parentheses featuring diarrhea bug known as the diarrhea bug. Anyways, Okay,
Picklesburg this weekend looking forward to be prepared.

Speaker 2 (02:03:43):
Country artist Charlie Crockett dropped the satanic doo wop group
Twin Temple as an opening act over there quote satanic imagery,
The duo were not unemployed for long, though, Jack White
reached out and offered them a much higher profile gig
opening for him at the Hollywood Palladium. In an Instagram post,
the Hall of Famer wrote, Twin Temple, would you like

(02:04:06):
to open my show in LA on September twenty ninth.
Let me know, get in front of me, Satan, referencing
of course white stripes, get behind me Satan. But the
duo unsurprisingly snapped up that invite. As for Crockett, in
a brief statement to Rolling Stone, the country singer said,
I thought they were like Black Sabbath, but they ain't.
Not today Satan.

Speaker 7 (02:04:27):
Yeah, Charlie Crockett's a weird guy. He's like always persecuted.
He's constantly like he's constantly acting like you know, he
is being put upon somehow. And he's a great artist.
But I've heard a lot of crazy things about that dude.
He's just he's a disagreeable fellow. Now that's not to

(02:04:49):
say he doesn't have the right to exercise, you know,
his judgment here and change up the openers.

Speaker 3 (02:04:54):
But like the statement he posted was very long. It
just didn't need to be that long.

Speaker 2 (02:05:00):
It did, and it just needed to say, like, you know,
it was a misunderstanding about this kind of band on
this tour.

Speaker 4 (02:05:05):
This was not quite what I had in mind.

Speaker 3 (02:05:08):
Yeah, move on.

Speaker 4 (02:05:09):
But he made it.

Speaker 7 (02:05:10):
Uh, it was like a it was like a manifesto. Yeah,
just talking about these opener and just how like people
are coming from me all the time, you have no
idea what I have to endure and stuff. And I
was like one of the like I wanted to post
that meme like I'm not reading all that I'm happy
for you or sorry that it happened.

Speaker 4 (02:05:27):
Yeah, I'm not reading that.

Speaker 2 (02:05:30):
John Mulaney mentioned that Mick Jagger wasn't nice to work
with on SNL in his twenty eighteen stand up special,
and Mick has kind of responded to that. He addressed
how fame has changed his personality, saying.

Speaker 4 (02:05:45):
Quote, it does affect you.

Speaker 2 (02:05:47):
You become disassociated from what people might call real life psychologically,
your actual state of mind is permanently damaged. Your late
twenties and early thirties is a very tough time because
it's a big ego trip and you have.

Speaker 4 (02:06:01):
To have a huge ego to do this.

Speaker 2 (02:06:03):
People that don't have huge egos have huge problems because
they have to manufacture a completely different personality.

Speaker 7 (02:06:11):
Yeah, I get it makes sense. Not a huge surprise
that Mick Jagger has a big ego. Yeah, It's the
only thing keeping him alive. It's like if he did
you know, mushrooms or ayahuasca and did an ego death,
he would.

Speaker 3 (02:06:27):
Actually die probably. Yeah wait, I'm just like everybody else. Yeah,
it does. Yeah, exactly, all right.

Speaker 2 (02:06:37):
Max Holloway defeated Connor McGregor by first round knockout after
the after McGregor suffered a devastating right knee injury. Just
one minute into their UFC two three twenty nine main
event on Saturday Night at Mobile Arena, McGregor appeared to
injure his knee while attempting a flying kick and was
unable to continue. F Herb Dean stopped the fight after

(02:07:02):
Halloway signaled that his opponent was seriously hurt. Halloway, in
a statement afterwards, said I didn't want to win like that.
UFC CEO Dana White said that the injury appeared to
be a torn ACL, though no official diagnosis was immediately confirmed,
but the lost spoiled McGregor's first UFC appearance in five years.

Speaker 7 (02:07:21):
Total scumbag. But a lot of people are pissed that
about this because they think it was a pre existing
injury that they knew about and they made him fight
through it.

Speaker 3 (02:07:29):
Really Yep.

Speaker 7 (02:07:29):
There's a lot of talk online about that that this
was not predisclosed, but it was known about which affected
gambling lines considerably, And if you look at the gambling
lines and the way they moved at the end, like
the word got out to some people and it totally
just went. It was going to go against him for
a couple of different reasons, but it really flipped right

(02:07:53):
before the fight.

Speaker 3 (02:07:54):
Isn't he a spokesperson for polymarket sexual what? Oh? Yeah, dude, yeah, good,
good good? Is he a polymarket guy? I thought so.

Speaker 4 (02:08:09):
He seems like he would.

Speaker 7 (02:08:10):
Yeah, that was part of the grift, was like his
uh gambling gamble with me, Right, I'm a scumbag m hm. Anyways,
it'll be interesting to see if anything comes with that.
I don't think there's any investigative body that's going to
look into you know, UFC fights being fixed.

Speaker 3 (02:08:28):
Yeah, Dana what we'll get right on the right From
the Trib.

Speaker 2 (02:08:32):
Former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Juju Smith Schuster got married
on Friday, but two of his wedding guests seemingly stole
the show. That'll happen when you invite recently newlywed Taylor
Swift and Travis Kelcey to your event just a week
after their Madison Square Garden wedding. The star couple, who
are both thirty six years old, were among attendees at

(02:08:53):
Juju's nuptials to his longtime girlfriend and fitness influencer Laura
Cruck at the Ritz.

Speaker 4 (02:08:58):
Carlton and Laguna each Florida.

Speaker 3 (02:09:00):
Oh that's cute.

Speaker 11 (02:09:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:09:02):
The guest list featured various NFL players, coaches, and friends.
This offseason, Juju signed a one year contract with the
New York Giants. He's gonna play for former Baltimore Ravens
coach John Harbough.

Speaker 7 (02:09:13):
Imagine them going to a Pittsburgh wedding and Travis eyeing
a cookie table, the whole table.

Speaker 3 (02:09:20):
This is awesome? Can we get one?

Speaker 4 (02:09:23):
Why didn't you tell me that we could have had
this for our wedding?

Speaker 11 (02:09:28):
Now?

Speaker 4 (02:09:28):
The tots table looks stupid.

Speaker 3 (02:09:33):
You ever go to a wedding and this happened to me?

Speaker 11 (02:09:36):
I was.

Speaker 6 (02:09:37):
I went to a wedding in Minneapolis, and I was
seated at this table with this guy who was getting
married later that year, and everything. He was seeing everything
through the lens of like, you know, at my wedding.
Oh yeah, so that was kind of Oh yeah, I
got one better for you or worse. I know a
dude who went to a Destination wedding the wedding proposed

(02:10:01):
to his girlfriend. You have to be insane to do
something like that.

Speaker 3 (02:10:07):
How old was he old enough to know of age?
In his thirties? In his thirties yes. Is he just
that type of dude? Apparently? Did it shock you?

Speaker 19 (02:10:21):
No?

Speaker 3 (02:10:21):
I was not there.

Speaker 7 (02:10:23):
I only know of the event because I knew a
ton of people that were there proposed at the reception.

Speaker 3 (02:10:28):
Yep, crazy, yep, crazy behavior.

Speaker 7 (02:10:32):
You're gonna make it about us now, like so bananas
related to the no no, no, just hey, while we're here,
can we borrow your photographer?

Speaker 10 (02:10:46):
No lame.

Speaker 6 (02:10:54):
What's funny is when he thought to do that, he
was like, huh a moment of brilliance. I've got a
great idea. Yeah, I'm gonna take over this wedding.

Speaker 3 (02:11:05):
Tell me she hated it. I don't know. I I
think they're still married. Well it actually yeah, Well I
wouldn't you say no, like not here, not here, not here,
not here?

Speaker 2 (02:11:18):
Yeah, as soon as I would see the motion no no, no,
all right, Uh, let's see, despite what our billionaire overlords
would have you believe, apparently you can have enough money,
just ask Rosie O'Donnell. So for six years she hosted
The Rosie o'donnald Show, one of the most popular and

(02:11:40):
influential daytime talk shows on TV, and then in two
thousand and two she quit, not because her ratings were down,
not because of a scandal, but because she found out
that she had one hundred million dollars in the bank.
She says, quote, when I heard that number, I thought, Okay,
now I'm done, and everyone else was like, why are
you leaving? Or in addition to having enough was her kids.

(02:12:02):
She said she wanted to be at their softball games
and wanted to be at school plays. She even refused
an offer of another one hundred million dollars to do
two more years. Her thinking at the time was quote,
I already have that money, and I think if I
need more, something's wrong with me.

Speaker 7 (02:12:17):
Yeah, that's actually like normal thinking. I'll just understand what
some people are driven to do more. Uh, But if
you get to that level of financial independence, I mean
you could also consider, like, you know, what might be
more fulfilling doing nothing, being around a family, just picking
what I want to do instead of like being in

(02:12:38):
the grind. And I know people will be like, oh
she wasn't like digging digenoushoe dealership. But it's just stress
and stuff that you have to worry about fifty million
year to do two more years, two more years. Man
wasn't feeling it though. Twenty and this is like twenty
five years ago.

Speaker 3 (02:12:56):
Yeah. Yeah, you could buy a house in the South
with that. Now she could move to Beaters.

Speaker 13 (02:13:03):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:13:06):
All right, So we've talked a lot about cyclosporiasis today
with sorry.

Speaker 4 (02:13:14):
It's explosive diarrhea. You guys, if you want to reduce
your chances of.

Speaker 2 (02:13:20):
Getting sick outside of that parasitic exploding diarrhea bug, here
are the things that you should always wash your hands
after touching. Number one on the list, touchscreens and pin pads,
things like the atm, ordering on a tablet at a
restaurant or a coffee shop, or doing self checkout, or

(02:13:41):
punching in your phone number at.

Speaker 4 (02:13:43):
The grocery store.

Speaker 3 (02:13:45):
I always use my knuckle for that, now, Yeah, I
knuckle it.

Speaker 7 (02:13:50):
Yeah yeah, that's I mean. I don't know that it
makes much difference, because then if I'm have like an
itchy eye, I'm not going to stick my finger in
and I'll use my knuckle, oh right, like to like
wipe your eye, you.

Speaker 3 (02:14:02):
Know what I mean. I don't know. I'm using the
sleeve of my shirt. Oh big, I'm big on that one,
big on that. That's my move. Oh yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:14:10):
Grocery cart handles a lot of different hands touched those
every single day, and some of those.

Speaker 4 (02:14:16):
Hands are unwashed.

Speaker 3 (02:14:17):
All of those hands are washed.

Speaker 4 (02:14:19):
Have you been, uh, have been handling raw meat packages?

Speaker 2 (02:14:23):
Like if there are people that are working and then
have to move like you know stuff, or maybe think
about people who take care of sick kids all the time.

Speaker 7 (02:14:32):
Yes, that's why they give you those handy wipes to
wipe your cars.

Speaker 3 (02:14:37):
I use them. I don't when I'm done at the
grocery store.

Speaker 7 (02:14:43):
I always have I have like a purel in my car,
and I always just give it up like a doctor
walking into a hospital room.

Speaker 11 (02:14:50):
What do we have you?

Speaker 3 (02:14:52):
I do that, and then I try to do my phone?
Try to you wipe it down purel? My phone. My
phone is so disgusting right now, I've got to do something.
I'm I definitely thing on the list phones, Yeah, third
thing on the list that's just gonna get me.

Speaker 4 (02:15:07):
Your phone is dirty.

Speaker 2 (02:15:08):
You take it with you everywhere you go, and it's
picking up germs all along the way from the bathroom,
the gym, you name it. And chances are you are
not cleaning it that often either, unless you're tad.

Speaker 3 (02:15:19):
I don't clean it that often. But I'm aware. I'm
gonna this.

Speaker 6 (02:15:24):
This cyclosporiasis is gonna make me like Howard Hughes at
the end of the Avia Way of the Future, Way
of the Future, Way of the Future. Let's get ted
into the penthouse. No one can see him like this,
just pe and and jars wait the future.

Speaker 7 (02:15:45):
Why did he pee? I'm not sure why he peed
in jars. It got very weird there at the end.
That whole story is very bizarre. But OCD will do
a lot to you if you leave it unchecked. I'm
gonna piano Jard and I just to be safe. I
knew dude in college, and apparently there was a guy
at snl that used to do that and the writers.

(02:16:07):
Because the bathroom was so far away, he would peet
a jar in his office and I can't remember who
it was. It was like somebody that everyone knows, and
then he would pour it out the window, like emptying
a chamber pot in medieval time.

Speaker 3 (02:16:17):
Exactly. Good dude, good, good dude. It might have been Norm.

Speaker 7 (02:16:22):
Really, yeah, it seems on brand for Norm who peede
in a jar At snl U. Multiple male writers, according
to Tina fey On, the show, would urinate and coups
and jars rather than walking to the nearby bathroom. While
Face specifically singled out her boss, former co head writer
Steve Higgins, whose son was one of the members of

(02:16:44):
Please Don't Destroy, she noted other unnamed staff members also
participated in the habit there.

Speaker 3 (02:16:50):
Yeah, so that it became a cultural thing. Yeah, but
she sold out Steve Higgins. Well, it's just probably sick
of rancid jars of pea.

Speaker 7 (02:17:04):
Once Fay became aware of what was going on, she
couldn't help but notice cups in other rooms as well.
One exception was the weekend up at Update Offices. In
their Fae pointed out there was just a single jar
of urine with a lid on it. Based on what
she could see of the liquid in the jar, she
suspected that either the writers were also spitting into their
urine or that one of them was very sick. Furthermore,
Fay recalled that you could see the jar immediately upon

(02:17:27):
entering the room, and that would sometimes be backlit by
the sun shining in the room. Matt Faye did go
out of her way to clarify not all the male
sn all writers were engaging this activity. At the end
of the day. She said it only amounted to about
four or five of twenty men who worked there at
the time, and apparently some of them used to enjoy
pretending to dry hump each other. Oh and did we
mention the booger in the one weekend update offices that

(02:17:50):
was evidently wiped on the wall and painted over.

Speaker 11 (02:17:53):
That.

Speaker 3 (02:17:53):
That was another part of her books.

Speaker 7 (02:17:55):
She said that someone wiped a gross booger on the
wall and like hardened and they painted over. Guys are disgusting,
just the guys being dudes. If you could have seen
the third floor bathroom in our last building, it was
one of the nastiest things. There was a whole booger wall.

Speaker 3 (02:18:13):
People.

Speaker 6 (02:18:13):
Also, there was a trend for a while at the
Green Tree Studios of writing in the grout above the urnal.
But it was like, wasn't it like booger puns and stuff.
It was it had to include the word line. So
it was like, oh yeah, okay, red line, bread line,
free cheese line, and it was all over the grout.

Speaker 3 (02:18:36):
Yeah, it was, but only in the ground which was small.
It wasn't like a big thick, it was like a
tiny it was tiny.

Speaker 7 (02:18:42):
Yeah, So what I always wonder is who's going into
the toilet with a pen and then enough time on there,
Like if you're in there like writing stuff, I've got one.
You gotta you gotta get some fiber gone. You gotta
really start to think about supplements at that point.

Speaker 4 (02:19:00):
Yeah, it's supposed to be a quick transaction.

Speaker 3 (02:19:02):
You're not supposed to be in there that long.

Speaker 7 (02:19:04):

Speaker 7 (02:19:21):
It's unbelievable. I'll tell you what's even just as disgusting

lung butter maybe.

Speaker 3 (02:19:42):
I don't know.

Speaker 7 (02:19:43):
You watch what's gonna start happening at these gyms. People
are going to be doing squats pretty soon, and.

Speaker 3 (02:19:53):
Dude, it's coming for everyone. Wait out on the explosion
that so good. How long is that?

Speaker 7 (02:19:58):
Like nine seconds? I'm telling you right now, you watch
someone's going to be asking for a spot. Someone's going
to be doing deadlift wrap our deadlift.

Speaker 3 (02:20:12):
You all right?

Speaker 7 (02:20:12):
Come on, come on, gym is closed for the day.
It's coming for all of us. I just pray it
does not happen to me in front of other people.
That is the only thing I am hoping for. It's
going to happen in here, all right. Look a diar

(02:20:33):

one of us, we can.

Speaker 4 (02:20:38):

it and just.

Speaker 3 (02:20:42):
Like back out of the studio.

Speaker 6 (02:20:45):
Guys, I'll join my phone from the parkway on my
way home. I don't think you will. You'll be crying
too hard. Yeah, well, well there will be like a recap.
Are we all going to get it?

Speaker 7 (02:20:58):
Is?

Speaker 3 (02:20:58):
It sounds like it? Okay?

Speaker 7 (02:21:01):

Speaker 3 (02:22:50):
Sports is Up?

Speaker 10 (02:22:51):
Brought to you by Bridgeville Appliance to Pirates sweep completing
fourteen to five blowout of the Brewers yesterday PNC Park.

Speaker 3 (02:22:59):
Included the ten run fourth inning.

Speaker 10 (02:23:02):
Pirates were leading four to two after Milwaukee played at
a couple of runs in the top of the fourth inning.
Ten runs pretty much decided things even with the Pirates bullpen.

Speaker 7 (02:23:12):
Well, let me ask you this, Mike, because I was
out of town, didn't get to watch any of the
games this week, and both the skiing starts, he had
a ton of run support. He got those wins. That's great,
But besides having that run support, did he look a
little more Paul Skins this.

Speaker 10 (02:23:31):
A little so we're not there yet on that front. Okay, Nope,
not even close. I mean, he's better. He's not getting
hammered like he did for two consecutive starts. But he's
not miss Rowski, He's not.

Speaker 3 (02:23:43):
He's just good. Hey, good, good job, good five and
a third. Ooh, way to go? You know, I mean,
what do you think?

Speaker 10 (02:23:51):
I get that the game was out of hand yesterday
they decided to take him out after eighty two pitches
for whatever reason.

Speaker 3 (02:23:57):
But is he dead armed after the World Baseball Class
is there? I have no idea.

Speaker 10 (02:24:02):
But my biggest concern for this team, and we talked
about this with Kevin Gorman, it's a legit concern. The
starting pitching hasn't been good enough to this point, and
it's in great question moving forward because of the ages
of these guys, or the injuries they're coming off, or
just how they want to treat them like they're China dolls.

Speaker 3 (02:24:23):
Yeah, so what are you going to?

Speaker 10 (02:24:25):
I get the bullpen's been the biggest problem, But if
the starters had been better, the bullpen would be less
of a problem, if only because the bullpen wouldn't have
pitched as much.

Speaker 3 (02:24:32):
Right, So if the bullpen has a chance to get better,
the starters have to be better.

Speaker 10 (02:24:36):
I think the starters might be worse in the second half,
So can they just club people to death and be
a softball team and.

Speaker 3 (02:24:45):
Find that path October I don't think so.

Speaker 10 (02:24:50):
You gotta get better starting pitching. But it didn't matter yesterday.
Let's go through the bottom of the fourth inning.

Speaker 3 (02:24:59):
I mentioned a.

Speaker 10 (02:25:00):
Milwaukee had just scored two to pull within two. Ozuna
leads off with a home run, Triolo double, Davis single,
Mangham walk, Lao single, Mangham scored, Reynolds hit by pitch,
Davis scored, Valdez walked, Mangum scored, O'Hearn single, Loud scored,

(02:25:23):
Gonzalez double, Reynolds scored, and Valdez scored. Finally, uh Milwaukee
gets an out of Zuna in his second at bat
of the inning, strikes out nine consecutive batters reaching base
in succession against three Milwaukee pitchers, and for the entirety
of the inning, ten runs on eight hits, and the
Bucks hit for the team cycle. In the bottom of

(02:25:46):
the fourth four singles, a double, excuse me, two doubles.
Triolo had one of each, a triple and a home run.
They also had two walks and a hit by pitch.
I was wondering if Hawaukee was going to turn to
a position player for the top of the for the
bottom of the fifth, it was explosive to use the

(02:26:08):
word of the day.

Speaker 3 (02:26:10):
It is the word of the day, and that's how
the Bucos completed the wipe of the Brewers. I think
they're still wiping dab technique.

Speaker 6 (02:26:22):
Everyone in America's gonna have to refamiliarize themselves.

Speaker 8 (02:26:25):
Damn.

Speaker 10 (02:26:26):
You know, if Clint Hurdle was managed in Milwaukee, he'd say,
that's all right, shower it off, boys, and.

Speaker 3 (02:26:32):
It's gonna take a while.

Speaker 7 (02:26:33):
Hey, that's a hell of a weekend by your Bucko's
going into the break, though, It's been a long time
since we've had something to feel good about with this
team going into an All Star break.

Speaker 10 (02:26:40):
First fifty wins at the break since twenty fifteen, parts
are fifteen forty seven. They played a few more games
than they usually do with the All Star break. Back
in twenty fifteen, they were fifty three and thirty five
on the way to ninety eight and sixty four of THEMS.
That was that great team that still couldn't win the
division because the Cardinals one hundred games and then they
got steroid jaked in a wildcard game.

Speaker 3 (02:27:03):
Pissed me off so bad. I think they were down
two nothing right away. Yes, that one.

Speaker 10 (02:27:09):
Last time they finished with the winning record at the
All Star break was twenty sixteen. There were forty six
and forty three that on the way to seventy eight
and eighty three. So you know, certainly nothing is assured,
but they've gotten this far and there is reason to
believe there is reason to be concerned, which probably is
represented by fifty and forty seven. It's not great, but

(02:27:32):
it's pretty good, and it's way better than they usually are. Yep,
let's hope two games back a wild You got to
keep investing in this team, right, they said at the
start of the year. The goal is the playoffs. But
they spent on Bob Nutting like funds to set this
team up. So next step is to improve it. Right,

(02:27:52):
It's not only not going anywhere in its current configuration.

Speaker 3 (02:27:55):
No, I mean, you get to a playoff series or
a wild card game.

Speaker 10 (02:28:04):
Those bats, Yeah, and maybe Ashcraft could pitch anything get
a third.

Speaker 3 (02:28:10):
Because you know, twenty twenty nine, you know.

Speaker 7 (02:28:14):
What I mean, the anticipate air Jones will be pitching,
you know, to eighty five ninety pitches by the end
of the season, or is it just getting All.

Speaker 10 (02:28:21):
I know is his first game of the year in May,
he through seventy seven. The last time he pitched me
through seventy seven. They are not stretching him out to
this point. I don't know what they're waiting for.

Speaker 7 (02:28:30):
Very weird, very strange. After the break, we're going to
celebrate a milestone today. It's the anniversary of one of
the greatest days of live music ever. I'll explain when
we come back. But first, Mike.

Speaker 10 (02:28:48):
Randore's no soccer today and no baseball, but there's still
plenty to ponder with bete Parks. The bet park sports
book and online casino app is still open for business
on the futures market.

Speaker 3 (02:28:58):
That's right.

Speaker 10 (02:28:59):
That goes for the Vision winners, League champions, even the
team that's eventually going to capture all the marbles, and
it's the same regarding the eventual individual award winners. If
you've got a feeling about any of that stuff by now,
bet Parks, as you covered, there's always another way to
win with bet Parks, and that includes the live in
game betting option when they're actually playing games which is

(02:29:20):
always better on bet Parks. It's no wonder the bet
Park sports booking online casino app is the only one
I recommend. Bett Parks has a special World Soccer Hub
with odds boosts as well as team and player props
for all the games, and right now new users can
up to five hundred dollars casino bonus back plus five
hundred bonus spins on the new soccer themed online slot

(02:29:41):

Michigan or Maryland. Casino bonus must be wager Gambi problem

Speaker 8 (02:29:54):

we have used it. Jad Tyson kicks off his show
every weekday at three with a commercial free rock block.
Yeah we sell a little less, but rock a little
more with Tyson afternoons on DVE.

Speaker 3 (02:30:13):
Do you have a passion for making a difference in
the lives of Tad Whistle?

Speaker 7 (02:30:16):
On this day, July thirteenth, nineteen eighty five, forty one
years ago, Live Aid was held jointly at Wembley Stadium
in London and JFK Stadium in Philadelphia. Now, the Wembley

(02:30:36):
Stadium lineup was adam Ant, Boomtown Rats, David Bowie, Phil Collins,
who was at the height of his solo career, Elvis Costello,
Dire Straits, Brian Ferry, Elton, John Howard Jones, Nick Kershaw,

(02:31:00):
Alison Moyer, Queen Charde Spando, Ballet Status Quo. They were
the first band to kick things off for all of
Live Aid at Wembley Style Council sting U two, Ultravox,

(02:31:22):
Paul Young, Wham and the Who. At JFK Stadium in Philadelphia.
Brian Adams.

Speaker 3 (02:31:33):
You have to remember this is nineteen eighty five.

Speaker 7 (02:31:36):
Brian Adams, The Cars, Eric Clapton, Duran, Duran Boy, George
Hall and Oates, Mick Jagger Solo Stones weren't playing around then.
It was before the Steel Wheels Tour, Billy Joel Whalen, Jennings,

(02:31:58):
Judas Priest, I remember of that Priest sept Chris Christofferson,
Huey Lewis in the news, Robert Plant. Of course, that
would be the led Zeppelin Reunion, The Surprise, The Power Station, Pretenders, Santana,

(02:32:18):
Paul Simon, Simple Minds, Tears for Fears, The Temptations, the
Thompson Twins, Neil Young and Stevie Wonder that all happened
at JFK Insane tickets. By the way, at for the
Wembley Stadium show, we're twenty five pounds, which I'm guessing

(02:32:41):
is I don't know what. Yeah, I mean, But back
then in nineteen eighty five, who knows what it was?
So many legendary performances. Obviously you know three yes about that?
What that wouldn't even be half of your ticket fee
for some thing like that. Now the iconic performances. Obviously,

(02:33:05):
Queen has been voted the greatest live performance in the
history of music, which I think is.

Speaker 3 (02:33:12):
Like, I bet there were a few Wagner shows back
in Austria. At the end of the day, they are
pretty rocking.

Speaker 7 (02:33:19):
But in a two thousand and five poll, everyone voted
that Queen that twenty one minute live aid set that
was immortalized in the movie Bohemian Rhapsody, but it was.

Speaker 6 (02:33:27):
Voted that it was voted the best in two thousand
and five, not as a reaction to the film.

Speaker 3 (02:33:33):
Film was years from being made great.

Speaker 7 (02:33:34):
Yeah, other notable things about that day, of course, Phil
Collins playing at Wembley Stadium, then getting on the concord
and zooming over to JFK and then playing drums for
that ill fated led Zeppelin reunion, which was marred by
the drunkenness of Jimmy Page the fact that he didn't

(02:33:56):
like Phil Collins and Robert Plant just sort of demanded
that he play with them, even though they had Chester
Thompson on drums, and it devolved into a just it
was horrible if you watch it, and you can watch it,
and I'll tell you more about that in a second,
really really bad. The other moment that stood out on

(02:34:19):
days like this, careers can be launched. Iconic moments can
sort of help to define a band, and that is
exactly what happened for You two because at the end
of You two set, they were supposed to get off

(02:34:39):
the freaking stage and they're playing bad and Bono leaps
off the stage at Wembley Stadium down into the security pit.

Speaker 3 (02:34:51):
The security guards catch him.

Speaker 7 (02:34:53):
He motions to a woman that he saw that was
getting kind of crushed up against the front of the
railing and has the security lift her up and bring
her into the pit, where he then just embraces her
and just begins to like slow dance and hold her
and embrace her.

Speaker 3 (02:35:15):
For a long time.

Speaker 7 (02:35:17):
Now they're supposed to be getting off the stage, this
song is supposed to be done, but Bono can't leave
this girl, and so he stays with her for a
minute or so and he's like, I gotta get back
on the stage now, and then that proves to be
a little problematic, and then he runs and jumps back,

(02:35:40):
gets on the stage and then vamps a little bit longer,
and the edge is like, what the are you doing?
They went backstage. The rest of the band thought they
were going to fire Bono. They were so pissed at
him for doing that. It turned out to be a

(02:36:01):
move that became part of rock and roll lore and
helped to sort of launch the identity of You two,
just as the Joshua Tree was coming out and you know,
on the heels of Unforgettable Fire and all of that,
And it really was something that was like a just
an impulse that he had that became one of the

(02:36:23):
most recognizable moments in music live music history. The JFK's
show did not have a lot of highlights. It really didn't.
There was not a lot of great stuff there. The
Clapton set's pretty good, but not great. The sound there
was weird. They had like Bill Murray and Chevy Chase
where the MC's during the day, and so it had

(02:36:45):
just a different vibe. The Wembley vibe was a lot different,
and I think that when you watch the Queen set,
you see that. When you watch the David Bowie set,
you see that it just had a gravitas that JFK
shows just couldn't achieve. But a super fun thing to do,

(02:37:06):
and I have done this party a few times, is
to do a rewatch and you can do it all.
It's like the full MTV feed was available on YouTube
last time I checked, and maybe it is now or
maybe it isn't, but you can minimum line up the
shows you want and do a full rewatch of the

(02:37:29):
day and it's super fun. I remember being a kid
and watching this and just like, you know, on the
floor because I couldn't get on the couch because there's
so many of us in there, like head in my hands,
like staring at the TV like oh.

Speaker 3 (02:37:42):
My god, oh my god, led Zeppelin, and.

Speaker 7 (02:37:45):
I thought it was just like I'm like this is
I can't believe I'm seeing led Zepp and it was terrible,
but I didn't know any better. Uh, And it's really
fun and if if you want to go back and
just remember everything about it, because there's a lot of
controversy surrounding it. There's a great BBC documentary that's on YouTube.

(02:38:07):
There's a couple of different documentaries with the BBC. One
it's a two partner and it's amazing. And I remember
the one scene is they had created this video that
showed just how awful things were in Ethiopium, and the
BBC was like, well, no, we're not airing that.

Speaker 3 (02:38:28):
We are not airing that.

Speaker 7 (02:38:29):
And Geldoff, you know, one of the organizers. By the way,
when you watch it, you'll also realize like Geldoff kind
of just took the mantle as the organizer and it
wasn't just him.

Speaker 3 (02:38:42):
Mid Jerry from Ultravox was a big, big part of it.

Speaker 7 (02:38:47):
He kind of gets pushed to the wayside where he's
like he got garfunkled a little bit in terms of
getting credit for Live Aid. But the BBC did not
want to air this video, and then David Bowie in
that it air and then he shot to the video
before he performed, and they said, like after he did that,

(02:39:09):
the phones just exploded, and you know, the phone banks
went down because so many calls were coming in. It's
a really cool documentary, Like I said, it's on YouTube,
check it out.

Speaker 10 (02:39:21):
So things were explosive even back then. Well it was
a different kind of explosive.

Speaker 3 (02:39:26):
I mean back then.

Speaker 4 (02:39:27):
Oh no, did that come from accounting?

Speaker 7 (02:39:32):
Cheryl Cheryl Cheryl's Gotta go home, I said for us
