Speaker 1 (00:19):
W DPE Pittsburgh at iHeart radio station guaranteed human.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
Oh good lord, because there's gonna be lots of stories
in the offices of people who are just sitting there.
And it's like Janet soiled herself today, she had to
go home. There's gonna be there's gonna be chairs that
have to be thrown out. There's a good time to
buy stock in office supplies, is what I really think.
Or we might just go right back to the you
know what, let's all work from home again. Let's work

(00:49):
from home until we stop diarrheaing explosively.

Speaker 3 (00:52):
Anyways, I was gonna say it.

Speaker 4 (00:54):
If you get it, you just stay home.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
Right Well, you.

Speaker 5 (00:57):
Don't know that you get it's got it, we would
need to stay home.

Speaker 6 (01:01):
I'm coming in. You gotta be I'll be here.

Speaker 5 (01:06):
It's not that it's not contagious. No, you're not giving
it to somebody else. But you can't get away from
the toilet.

Speaker 6 (01:11):
I'm bringing in a drop cloth.

Speaker 7 (01:14):
I'm gonna go to Loew's and get a drop cloth
and place it under my little station here.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
Brandy Bellman and the DV Morning Show.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
I thought we were joking about that, and now the
whole country knows what's going on.

Speaker 4 (01:27):
I'm scared to let us.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
Uh well, all right, like they're saying, stay away from
it altogether. If you cook it, you should be fine,
but it's so bad if you get it. It's not
like hilarious I have diarrhea. No, it's like go to
the hospital diarrhea sometimes. You know what I mean, guys,
this is go to the hospital.

Speaker 4 (01:47):
Diary is different? Uh No.

Speaker 5 (01:51):
I the thing about bag salads and they're not sure
what leafy greens it, you know, impacts and everything. And
I just had kale a couple of days ago, and
now like waiting for the timer to go off.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
Well, I ate so much fruit and kale, not kale
and salad and veggies this weekend. I'm sure it's only
a moment before the explosive diarrhea comes for me. I
do not fear the explosive diarrhea, for it comes for
all men. Shooty in sales gone gone. Uh yeah, you know,

(02:39):
eat meat for a while. Let's just all go carnivore
and hope for the best. Last night, we did our
Common Era Pittsburgh Power Ballad Challenge finale, and we taped
it so that you can hear it on Friday morning.
We want to do a bunch of post edits on
it. It was just tremendous and I just want to thank
the judges, first and foremost Mark Madden, who was amazing.

(02:59):
Red Beach, the one on only Red Beach from White
Snake Winger you named Dawkin. He's played with everybody, and
of course John Bellen from Gene the Werewolf who also
plays it ReBs solo outfit, and they are going to
be playing out at South Park Amphitheater Friday night of

(03:20):
Labor Day weekend, just doing all eighties rockers that it's
going to be a great time. He's got the bass
player from Dawkin. I'm not sure what that guy's name is.
I thought they were all named Dawkin, like the Ramones,
Darryl Dawkin, Chocolate Thunder. He's on bass. And anyways, thanks
to the contestants who were Kevin Yurig, Frank Montleone and

(03:44):
kJ Devlin.

Speaker 4 (03:45):
Yep, yeah, good job.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
Well maybe my memory is not completely gassed.

Speaker 6 (03:50):
That was a lot of fun last night.

Speaker 7 (03:52):
It was my first one and it was a blast,
very what.

Speaker 4 (04:00):
Kind of blast.

Speaker 2 (04:02):
There was loose salad in the break room.

Speaker 8 (04:04):
Yeah, nobody touched that. I mean, I didn't see anybody
eating it to do.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
No. They they brought us, you know, pizza and salad,
and I think people just looked at the salad and
saw that as impending sphincter doom. And they were, by
the way, impending sphincter doom in the coffee house this Friday,
And so nobody wanted to take a chance. Who take
a chance on the salad. Nobody was gonna do that.

Speaker 4 (04:29):
Don't you dare read the salad?

Speaker 6 (04:31):
Yeah?

Speaker 7 (04:32):
Yeah, I thought it was like a bit. I thought
the salad was like prop salad because it seemed so
tone deaf to even put it out there.

Speaker 2 (04:41):
We set up a camera to see if anybody would
eat the poopy salad.

Speaker 7 (04:48):
In this salad, it's not like it's possible. It has
cyclists prices, it does confirm. Yeah, there's like an.

Speaker 2 (04:54):
Edit of one of our interns like shaking it on
the salad whe with this he's like laughing like jackass. Anyways,
I'm sure it's gonna be fine. We're all gonna be
fine with our diarrhea. Abby's got your news right now.
Oh yeah, thanks to everybody who came out to But
just a great crowd of people too, like everyone in

(05:14):
they brought. It was like a real proper show.

Speaker 6 (05:16):
It was fun.

Speaker 5 (05:17):
Yeah, everybody had a fan club, yes they did.

Speaker 4 (05:20):
That was sweet.

Speaker 2 (05:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (05:21):
People would like get up and hug their you know,
whoever they came to support last night.

Speaker 4 (05:26):
They'd get up. They'd be like, you did such a
good job, Like, oh.

Speaker 2 (05:29):
Wow, this is really sweet.

Speaker 4 (05:30):
This has turned into something cute.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
You guys were all really funny too. It was. It
was a really good time. You're gonna like that. We'll
rebroadcast at Friday morning. I'm not sure, you know. I
think we're gonna do like half a show Friday, and
that will be half the show. That doesn't matter right now,
we're all worried about diarrhea. Abby's got the news.

Speaker 5 (05:47):
News this hour brought to you by your neighborhood Ford Store.
Mostly sunny, very hot. Caution advice if you're gonna be
outside for extended periods of time. The high today is
ninety seven. National Weather Service in Moon is forecasting at
least four days this week with tip ninety degrees, and
there have been five so far this year, which is
actually down from seventeen last year. This week, there are

(06:08):
again four days expected to reach ninety but the worst
is going to be tomorrow, when the mercury will climb
to at least ninety eight degrees, sparing a major heat
risk according to the National Weather Services online tool Forecast,
but it means that the weather will be a factor
for anybody without access to cooling systems or proper hydration.
So the remainder of the week is going to pose
a moderate heat risk according to the tool.

Speaker 2 (06:31):
You know, it's fun if your AC breaks and you
have explosive diarrhea. Just say goodbye, right and it's ninety
seven degrees.

Speaker 4 (06:40):
Yeah, just say goodbye. Just be done with it.

Speaker 5 (06:43):
Nearly eighteen thousand more of Akroscher Stadium's original original seats
will be replaced following the upcoming season. The Pittsburgh Sports
and Exhibition Authority on Thursday approved a reimbursement of five
million dollars to the Steelers affiliated PSSI Stadium Corp. To
pay for seventeen thousand seats and associated concrete work. In

(07:03):
April of twenty twenty five, they replaced fifty eight thousand
seats that they said or they requested that rather, and
then that's going to occur in phases over the next
four years. But that means that all of these seats
that had a condition assessment firm, which is called Stantech.
They reported that multiple seats have had issues over the

(07:24):
last five years. So they're going to get rid of
twenty two thousand seats in the upper level, East, upper
Level West, and North Club of the stadium and that
is supposed to be done before this upcoming season.

Speaker 2 (07:36):
Okay, better for your butt. They would piss me off
if I was paying that much for a seat and
it was busted.

Speaker 5 (07:41):
Yeah, those seats that are being replaced our original to
the stadium, which opened up in two thousand and one,
so they've probably seen quite a bit already. Yeah, kind
of forget how time time passes.

Speaker 2 (07:53):
Well, consider this Three Rivers Stadium seemed like it was
there for ever ver and it was only there for
thirty years and we're four years away from that. Yeah
ooh with a forsure.

Speaker 9 (08:08):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (08:09):
I know when you think of three of our statement like, oh, yeah, well,
the dinosaurs were there, uh, you know, cavemen roamed through
the stadium of course back in the day, and then
in you know, two thousand, we finally got rid of it. Nope, No,
that's how quickly time moves.

Speaker 5 (08:26):
Oh all right, remember when everyone used to update their
status on social media. I don't know if you've noticed,
but it's taken a noseedive. A new survey from a
privacy company found fifty five percent of Americans say maintaining
their social media presence now feels like more work instead
of fun. More than half say that they're posting less
than they did five years ago, and many are being

(08:47):
much more selective about what they share. The biggest reasons
that people say they're pulling back are political arguments, endless
doom scrolling, and concerns about privacy.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
Well, I just think people are beaten down. You know,
every time you post something, somebody comes at you. If
you change your social if you change your status at all,
someone's gonna comment. You're just risking fighting all the time.
No matter what it.

Speaker 4 (09:17):
Is, it's not social. Media isn't social anymore.

Speaker 5 (09:22):
No, it's it's mostly you're following media again, right, So
like you're just following like either creator accounts that are
feeding you something, you're following news. So it's lost that
early days of like either MySpace, Facebook, all that kind
of stuff where people actually were using the app to

(09:46):
communicate with each other. Yeah, you're not really connecting with people,
like maybe you follow them and you're like half stocking them, but.

Speaker 2 (09:52):
Like it is weird, like when I went home last
week and I was an eerie for a week and
people have not seen in a long time and they
know everything about you, and that is such a weird feeling. Hey,
how'd your comedy fest go? I'm like, I haven't talked
to you in twenty years. Yeah, you know what I mean.
Like its online, and I know that that's not a
new observation, but it'll never kind of not feel weird

(10:15):
to me that people know. Like, and one woman was like, well,
you know you've seen our kids on social media, right,
And I'm like, I haven't. I'm sorry. I just well,
you'll be creepier if I said, yeah, oh yeah, oh
I've seen them all right, yeah, uncle watching That's what

(10:35):
I mean. I was like, I actually don't know what
your kids look like, but I'm sure they're adorable.

Speaker 4 (10:40):
It's wild though.

Speaker 5 (10:41):
I don't feel like I have ever needed to go
to a class reunion because there's been social media since
you know, mid two thousands that like we were using
like more regularly, but like, I know what everybody looks like,
I know what you're doing if if we're connected or not,
you know, so, like I it's easy to check up
on people and it doesn't require the same or you

(11:03):
don't get that same hit and be like, hey, it's
a class reunion and be.

Speaker 4 (11:06):
Like, oh my god, I didn't recognize you. It's like,
oh I did, and you like some really weird stuff.

Speaker 6 (11:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (11:14):
In the early days of Facebook, there was too many
people that I was like, I know too much about
what's going on with you. Remember John Staggerwald one time
sent me an email he was really upset with me
because I blocked him on Twitter. This is like a
long time ago, and he's like, you know, you could
have just reached out and talked to me. He didn't
have to block me on Twitter. And he goes, there
wasn't a very manly thing to do, or something like that.

(11:36):
And I was like, hey, John, FYI who. By the way,
I like John a lot. I don't agree with i
thing that he thinks or says about anything outside of sports,
and I disagree with a lot of what he has
to say about sports. But I've always liked John a
whole lot, and he is a smart and funny guy
when you're talking to him. And he sent me this

(11:56):
email mad at me that I blocked him. I was like, hey, John,
this I blocked you before there was a mute on
Twitter because you responded and fought to every person who
commented on anything I posted. And so my whole day

(12:16):
was looking at you fighting people, and it just was like,
I didn't want my whole day to be through the
prism of your perspective. Yeah, you know, that's all. And
I'm like, and you know, not very manly to fight
most He's like, ah, man, I'm sorry, blah blah blah.

Speaker 6 (12:36):
I mean we're you know, and it was good. It
was all no.

Speaker 2 (12:39):
John and I are I've known him forever. His step
son and I are really good friends, and I just
I don't agree with anything he says. But it wasn't
even that he was being political. Half the time. He
was just arguing with people, and I'm like, I don't
want to see you in my feed this much. And
sometimes your algorithm if you just hover on let's say
an old classmates profile for a second or something that

(13:00):
they posted, then they're like, oh, you want to see
more of Adrian's med You know, you're like, I don't,
Actually I don't. Yeah, so that's a weird thing too.

Speaker 4 (13:09):
Yeah, all right.

Speaker 5 (13:11):
People struggling to lose weight by focusing on calorie counting
may want to consider intermittent fasting. A new study out
of University of Adelaide shows that both methods led to
similar weight loss. People who took part in the studies
say that they got results through intermittent fasting without the
work of constantly monitoring their eating. More than two hundred

(13:31):
obese adults took part in the year and a half
long study.

Speaker 2 (13:35):
Yeah, I think that there's probably a lot of benefits
of doing that. I mean, I didn't eat yesterday and
I had like a biass workout, and it is remarkable
the difference in one day, just one day of not
really it's not that I didn't eat at all, I
just only ate a little bit. Yeah, and it's like
four pounds swing on the scale, four pounds. Yeah. Mean,

(13:56):
I had to be a lot of water, right, this
will probably a lot of booze from the weekend that
was sweated out or something.

Speaker 7 (14:01):
Yeah, you got to keep I mean, you gotta eat something, right,
you got to keep the engine hummin Yeah.

Speaker 2 (14:07):
Right now, what I recommend is a lot of leafy greens.

Speaker 4 (14:09):
Yeah you really want to lose light?

Speaker 2 (14:12):
Yeah exactly, Yeah, tiber vegetables. Doctors recommend contracting a parasite.

Speaker 5 (14:19):
I really need to know if people are okay afterwards.
Like I know that it destroys your gut biome to
have any kind of extended period of time of diarrhea
or vomiting, like it's going to do that.

Speaker 4 (14:35):
But I need to know, like in.

Speaker 5 (14:38):
The same way when people would get COVID and then
they'd get long COVID, right, like you'd just be like,
what happens later?

Speaker 2 (14:46):
That's what I'm asking same thing. This can go on
for months.

Speaker 4 (14:49):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (14:50):
Now here's the other other part of that. It's not
a virus. You can keep getting it. Yeah, nice, go
back to that well whenever you want to. Yeah, very cool.
So it's not like, oh I already had it, I
can have you.

Speaker 4 (15:07):
Know, there's no immunity.

Speaker 6 (15:09):
No, I'll have a broccoli shake.

Speaker 4 (15:12):
How long does it last?

Speaker 2 (15:14):
It depends. I think that there are drugs that treat it,
and if you get on it early, it can knock
it out a little sooner. But they also said, and
this is maybe the more disturbing part of it. It's
like an acid flashback. You can have recurrences like from
the initial infection. So you can like, Okay, finally that

(15:36):
was seven days of hell. You know, I look like,
you know, I've been I'm emaciated. I can start putting
some weight back on now and eating some you know,
high calorie meals, and then three days after that just
you know, all over and it's like, oh yeah, that

(15:57):
was a little residual effect. That was an aftershock. So
that's part of it too. And now it's not fun
well because.

Speaker 4 (16:04):
Like parasites die, you know, eventually they.

Speaker 5 (16:08):
Die in side your stomach. They do a bunch of
other things. I learned too much yesterday.

Speaker 2 (16:13):
About a parasites. Oh yeah they are. Didn't meeting about
them being by the dashboard.

Speaker 4 (16:19):
Light, Yeah they are.

Speaker 7 (16:20):
You know.

Speaker 5 (16:21):
There was something about like how the parasites like at
first aren't doing much of anything, and then they they
do reproduce in you. They start they start because asexual reproduction,
and then it turns into just goal fashion sexual reproduction.

Speaker 6 (16:39):
And then one of the sites shows up with a pizza.

Speaker 4 (16:42):
Yeah, pretty much do you.

Speaker 6 (16:43):
Come to this colon often.

Speaker 8 (16:48):
By the way, but then they have sex and then
they die. Oh all, all right, finally here Pittsburgh is
being named as one of the worst cities in the
nation when it comes to bedbug infestation.

Speaker 2 (17:09):
So really it's no good.

Speaker 4 (17:10):
The Steel City has landed at number nine on the.

Speaker 6 (17:12):
Good Parasites They did.

Speaker 5 (17:19):
This was number nine on the twenty twenty sixth list
released by Pest Control Company.

Speaker 2 (17:24):
Orcan they say?

Speaker 5 (17:25):
The rankings are based on metro areas where the most
commercial and residential bedbug treatments were performed over the last year.
Chicago's listed at number one with the highest infestation rate,
with Los Angeles, Detroit, Cleveland, and Indianapolis rounding out the
top five.

Speaker 2 (17:39):
Well, there goes Frank.

Speaker 4 (17:43):
Oh he was a good one for.

Speaker 2 (17:46):
Frank in traffic. You got it now too.

Speaker 7 (17:50):
I worked with a guy who had to do bedbug
remediation last year.

Speaker 2 (17:54):
It's like eight grand, he said, really. Yeah. Yeah. My
sister had to have it done at her house in
Los Angeles and it was a nightmare for her. And
it was because she found one bug and she'd come
back from New York where there was a big infestation
and she called a couple of people. They're like, yeah,
you gotta do everything. Yeah, you can't just do one room. No, right,

(18:14):
And then they came in and it was like it
was a week long ord deal or something like that,
and it was very expensive.

Speaker 4 (18:19):
Can you see bed bugs?

Speaker 2 (18:21):
Yeah? I remember one time when we were out at camp.
We were uh, we were at Steelers training camp and
the bed bugs thing was going on big time many
years ago, and Val was like, please come into my room.
I need you to look at this. And she's like,
is this a bed bug? And I was like, no,
that's just an old fashioned blood stain on your mattress

(18:44):
from the person who was here before.

Speaker 6 (18:45):
You don't worry about that.

Speaker 2 (18:47):
You're fine, You're oh thank god. Yeah, bed bugs are
nobling on though you don't want them. They're gonna bite
you while your sleep. Oh yeah, you get like a
rash or something.

Speaker 6 (18:59):
It's like, yeah, they bite.

Speaker 2 (19:01):
A ton, Yeah, do a lot of biting. So it's like,
I don't think so, I think that's part of the problem.
I think they're like tiny and then you wake up
and you have like scabs all over your legs or
something like that. This is a fun segment, I know,
poopy bear resites and bed bugs.

Speaker 4 (19:19):
Started off with poop yesterday.

Speaker 2 (19:20):
I'm just trying to keep okay. It's the national discourse.
It's not like we are like right, We're not scraping
the bottom of the barrel. Everybody's wondering what the hell
is going on. I mean, I'm, you know, shocked. We
haven't even talked about Tom Sooner and Christina Pozitski breaking up.
That is shocking to me. There's so much to get to,

(19:43):
like how bad the home run derby was last night.
I don't know if you guys got a chance to
see any of it, but Netflix ran it. Netflix should
never be allowed to do anything sports related. And I
don't know what happened to Will Ferrel, but at some
point Will Ferrell and I love Will Ferrell. He's one
of the all time greats. Who doesn't I don't know

(20:05):
what he is doing right now. It's like he is
half assing, rehashing old characters. It's not even like he's
trying to put a new spin on it and trying hard,
Like I feel like Mike the Austin Powers he went

(20:27):
down swinging with the Love Guru. I mean, he really
tried hard. He believed in it. It was terrible and
it ended his career for a while. But this movie
that Will Ferrell is pushing serious, it's a series, I think, so.
I mean, it just looks like like a weak conglomeration

(20:48):
of all the Will Ferrell characters from everything he's done.
And I don't understand that. Like somebody on Twitter last
night was comparing it to They're like, look at how
Seth Rogan's comedy career has advanced. You know, he just
won all of these Emmys for that show The Studio.
His new movie, i think it's called The Invitation, is
getting all kinds of accolades, and they're like, his career

(21:09):
has continued to move forward and expand and grow, and
like Farrell's has like gone backwards, and it's like, you know,
it's DeVault. I just don't think of the same kind
of comedians, So I don't think it's fair. I think
it's harder to do character work as you get older,
you know, And I think, like Peter Seller saw that,
like you have to become a different kind of comedian
because if you're doing character stuff when you're an old person,

(21:30):
it's like Jerry Lewis in Hardly working where it's like, oh,
look at that old man being goofy, you know what
I mean.

Speaker 7 (21:37):
Yeah, I'm trying to think of like Will Ferrell's most
serious acting role stranger than fiction.

Speaker 2 (21:43):
Yeah, that's it. Okay, he did a.

Speaker 4 (21:46):
Serious role, huh.

Speaker 2 (21:47):
A couple of them. Oh, him and John Riley did
an entire serious movie, and then him and Kristin wigg
did a serious Hallmark movie no jokes, because that was
the joke joke. Yeah, the joke was that there was
no jokes payoff and it was like burning Bed's kind

(22:09):
of shoe, you know what I mean. And he was
like the abusive husband. I'll see that, No nobody did.

Speaker 7 (22:20):
I'm thinking about as uh his SNL character, which I
think he did in the audition, the like the guy
the cookout, like you guys get off the show, get off,
But as an abusive husband in a lifetime movie, right,
I think that's kind of what it was.

Speaker 2 (22:35):
And it's hard to just watch him and think that that, Like,
you know, when he's being serious, you're.

Speaker 6 (22:39):
Like, okay, yeah, are you really yelling?

Speaker 2 (22:41):
Yeah? Is this rond Bergen?

Speaker 6 (22:43):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (22:43):
Right?

Speaker 5 (22:44):
Mostly sunny today, Barry hot. It's a high of ninety.

Speaker 2 (22:47):

You decide the menu and let Michelle know what you
wanted to hear on the all request of electric lunch
on one O two point five DVE.

Speaker 10 (23:18):
Live from the Don's Appliances Studios where Pittsburgh shops for appliances.
This is WDVE, It's Pittsburgh from the DVE Weather Center.

Speaker 4 (23:28):
This report is sponsored by Discover.

Speaker 11 (23:31):
It's going to be another hot one today, mostly sunny,
very hot, high of ninety four, clear skies tonight, dropping
to seventy two degrees overnight sonny in extremely hot tomorrow,
look for high of ninety seven.

Speaker 2 (23:42):
When you hear a good idea, it's natural to do
a double tape. That's what you might do when you
here Discover aught Sports. Mike Soud has got your sports

Sports is Hours brought to you back Bridgeville Appliance.

Speaker 12 (23:55):
If you don't like Philadelphia fans, you probably enjoyed the
home run derby last night. His hometown hero Kyle Schwarber
didn't win it. Saint Louis Cardinals outfielder Jordan Walker out
distanced Schwarber the Phillies left fielder DH twelve to eleven
in the final round, including six consecutive dingers to win it.

(24:16):
Schwarber had defeated Wilson contraras the Red Sox first baseman
catcher to reach the final. Walker bested race third basement
junior cam and Aro Bryce Harper, the Phillies first baseman,
right fielder Jack Cagleone Royal's right fielder, first baseman, Moontaka Muracawie,

(24:37):
Chicago White Sox first baseman, and ben Rice Yankees DH
first baseman did not advance.

Speaker 2 (24:44):
I didn't watch any of it. I tried to watch
a little bit of it was really hard. Netflix really
made it difficult. It was an awful broadcast. You know,
we'll get to the Will Ferrell and Luke Wilson stuff,
but it just was from a production standpoint bad, the
direction bad. Everything they tried to do to bring that

(25:06):
to you last night made it hard to watch. The
sound was bad, froze constantly. They had problems in football. Also,
I know Amazon Prime did and Netflix did have some issues. Yeah,
because they did, like the Christmas shows and stuff. Yeah,
maybe they should stop looking at just the bottom line
and how much money they're going to make.

Speaker 12 (25:32):
If these production companies can actually I don't know, produce, yes,
maybe maybe not.

Speaker 2 (25:40):
Your money and bro bless your heart.

Speaker 12 (25:43):
Mike home run Derby kind of emblematic of the new
attitude towards the All Star Game in general. There are
twelve players that are at least tied for tenth in
home runs through the unofficial first half of the baseball season.
Seven of the leading home run hitters, seven of the
top twelve home run hitters did not participate for one

(26:05):
reason or another.

Speaker 2 (26:07):
I wanted to see low in there, and he didn't
make the roster. Yeah, it was a new format this year.
Twenty un time swings in the first round, fifteen in
the semis and fifteen in the final. Walker and schwarb
were both ended with thirty one home runs. Paul Skeen's
one of the Pirates representatives, along with Braxton Ashcraft, is

(26:30):
in Philadelphia.

Speaker 12 (26:31):
Not one of those guys is going to play tonight.
When Handa Meres of Sports Net Pittsburgh caught up with
Skeens yesterday in Philadelphia, Skeens was still thinking mostly about
Milwaukee in Pittsburgh.

Speaker 13 (26:46):
Yeah, I mean, it's a lot sweeter that, you know,
we won yesterday and you know, get a chance to
pitch again soon after the break, So that's that's fun.
The biggest thing, you know. I know, in twenty four
we were at five hundred coming in and I had
thrown i think on the Thursday before, so it didn't
change anything. Last year we were obviously under five hundred,

(27:10):
and so this year, you know, we're above five hundred.
We're you know, fighting to win the division and make
the playoffs. That is a whole lot more important than
the All Star Game. So I'm ecstatic to not be
throwing in it.

Speaker 5 (27:24):
What's it like to come here off of a series
sweep in the way you guys just didn't have the
highest scoring offense heading into the All Star break as well.

Speaker 13 (27:32):
Kind of crazy that nobody from our offense is here still.

Speaker 2 (27:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 13 (27:37):
I mean it's great to come in that way. I
think we won a lot of games this year on
the back of our offense, which is a little bit
different than how it was last year. Yeah, I don't know.
It's it's kind of a weird feeling a little bit,
but yeah, I don't I don't really know.

Speaker 2 (27:55):
It's it's interesting. That is a strange answer, isn't it.

Speaker 1 (28:01):
Well?

Speaker 12 (28:02):
Does he not believe they have a great offense? Is
he upset that the pitching is taking a backseat to
the offense.

Speaker 2 (28:08):
I think that. Yeah, I kind of did too. I
mean it's interesting. It's strange you can say that about
the Pirates.

Speaker 12 (28:19):
You could. Bucks are back in action Friday at Cleveland.
World Cup semi final number one today France against Spain
three o'clock from Jerry World in Arlington, Texas. The second
semi final will be tomorrow at three o'clock, England against Argentina.
The championship game the two winners from today and tomorrow

(28:41):
Sunday at MetLife Stadium at three o'clock.

Speaker 6 (28:45):
Do you have a rooting interest?

Speaker 2 (28:46):
I do. Is it only because you're gambling? Or is that? Okay?
Who is it? I'm the conehead we come from France. Yeah,
we all have a buddy that is the soccer guy, right, sure,
I have a couple of them. And I asked a
couple of the soccer buddies that I know that are
the soccer guy and France's exquisite. They tell me they're
the soccer guy and they said France is a wagon.

(29:08):
Yeah they are, so I hope they don't start running backwards.
See what Mike was doing there as a retreat joke
in a little World War Two humor for you, which
hits our core audience.

Speaker 12 (29:21):
I gotta say, by the way, you mentioned the great
job Madden did last night, and I concur Madden has
been a shining star of.

Speaker 2 (29:28):
World War Two references throughout the World Cup. Oh, I'm
sure he is setting the standard. Yeah, the World Cup
has been The World Cups are in great. I'm sad
that it's coming to an end because it really did
just fill an entire month for me. But I really
want to see Argentina beat England, and then I don't care.

(29:50):
I just don't want England in England. I hate England
because I hate the team, I hate their coach, I
hate Harry Kane, I especially hate Harry Kane. Not because
like they've burned a white house or anything like that. No,
that was many, many years ago. I've gotten over it, Okay, yeah,
that I've gotten over and those they were just there

(30:12):
was good people on both sides there, Mike. I don't
know if you know about that, but I hate that team.
We're kind of doing it in ourselves now slowly, but
surely that's good people. Uh, good days. Good. I just
want Argentine. I want to see Messi in the final
against Himbape. I'm want to see France won the whole thing.

(30:35):
I know why.

Speaker 6 (30:36):
Abby has your news coming up at the top.

Speaker 5 (30:37):
Of the hour, one of comedy's biggest couples are going
their separate ways.

Speaker 4 (30:41):
And Tom Cruise as you've never seen him.

Speaker 2 (30:43):
Before, Sean Casey eight forty five today the mayor talking
MLB All Star Game, and also just the Pirates talking
to Little Buckos going forward because they are unexpectedly an
offensive juggernaut as we were just saying. And Billy Gardell
joined us for the nine am hour. People for Pittsburgh win.

Speaker 1 (30:59):
Listen for you chads at Workforce Cash nine am through
nine p m. You'll get thirteen chances a day to
win a thousand bucks in Workforce cash on DV.

Speaker 7 (31:09):
Does your driveway or walkway just keep getting worse? Sunken slabs, cracks,
uneven steps before you start thinking costly replacement.

Speaker 2 (31:17):
And Welcoming to the studio, Joe Byron Ackley, Yeah, thank you,
great to be back.

Speaker 6 (31:22):
I'm back, baby.

Speaker 2 (31:26):
I like that one. I did you know, did you
watch the home run Derby last night? I did not.
It was on Netflix and they don't do sports well.
The thing with Net was calling Homer no basically though,
that's because then what they did, that's what they do.
They get comics because Ted Sarandos loves his comics so

(31:48):
much he makes them do all this stuff. So Will
Ferrell has this new series coming out. So it was
Will Ferrell, Luke Wilson, and Jimmy Tatrow. I think that's
says the thin guy's name, get it. Anyways, the three
of them were doing it now. Not only was it
just like not the kind of comedy that lands in
a live sporting event. Comedy in sports really don't mix

(32:13):
all that well. I just think that there are two
different mindsets and people don't want to hear it. It's
like have you opened before for musical acts.

Speaker 14 (32:22):
Yes, I have. And that's hard, right, It's usually very hard.
Sometimes it's fun, sure, but no, yeah, when you're there,
people are there rock Yes, you know, hey, hey who
has dogs?

Speaker 2 (32:35):
Yeah? Yeah right, And I kind of felt like that's
what was going on last night, as Will Ferrell, Luke
Wilson and that the other guy, Jimmy Tatreau. We're pimping
that new series Hawk on Netflix. And in addition to that,
the production of it was just got awful. Here we are, Oh.

Speaker 15 (33:02):
My goodness, Roger Ghosts, good to be with you tonight.

Speaker 2 (33:06):
No, I'm well and this is Jenny and we went
over there.

Speaker 6 (33:10):
We're very excited to be here.

Speaker 2 (33:12):
We're very excited to be a part of this. We
hope you are too, are you.

Speaker 15 (33:16):
Guys even watch some balls.

Speaker 2 (33:19):
Go very far into the air.

Speaker 14 (33:23):
Oh he played that card. It's like I hate the
Oh you like every super Bowl? Oh you like the ball? Sports?
Sports ball? Yeah, I can't even do it right. Yeah,
that's awful. Well, sports is, like Mikey knows this. If
you can drop in a little fun like a Chris
Burman or like that, you have to just drop like
Mike does. He drops in the fun every now and then,

(33:44):
but usually it's like, it's sports. You don't need to entertain,
you don't need to make sports better than it is.
That's why it's sports. You need to make life better
than this. Is that making sense? That's too deep?

Speaker 2 (33:56):
When I eat that b mushroom tea. The introductions were
where things were really being criticized.

Speaker 6 (34:06):
I'm going to talk Mr Kami from the White Sox.

Speaker 2 (34:10):
I'm not exactly sure why Ferrell Seeson Asian and then
starts going, you know, this makes me miss another Asian.
It is morning Taka mare comed.

Speaker 10 (34:28):
I have two.

Speaker 2 (34:28):
Words for you hand I'm coordination. He's gonna see a
big knife bo him. He's looking good, he's got a
good walk headed out there.

Speaker 16 (34:38):
He's like a tiger approaching the ring.

Speaker 2 (34:40):
As he takes the steps. It really makes you think, God,
I wish Showhy was here right now.

Speaker 16 (34:48):
Huh.

Speaker 2 (34:50):
So I'm guessing two words for you hand eye coordination
is a joke from their series. That's that's my guess.

Speaker 6 (34:58):
That would be helpful to know.

Speaker 2 (35:00):
Uh uh. And then the Bryce Harper intro, Will Ferrell
did kind of a Chuck Norris thing, the man who
never has to pay a rama, the Liberty Bell comes
and takes photos of him. This bab calls a cosa
delay more than George Washington. He has twenty one career.

Speaker 15 (35:26):
Both him.

Speaker 2 (35:29):
And hopefully he ejects the balls tonight.

Speaker 14 (35:37):
Okay, yeah, and then when you'll need it, Junior Cameron Arrow.

Speaker 2 (35:46):
We may have to fact check.

Speaker 16 (35:48):
This because I'm not one hundred percent okay, but I'm
gonna go and hide.

Speaker 2 (35:52):
And say he's the first player and then history at
the home to complete the crazy.

Speaker 16 (35:59):
Now he's a competitive advantage.

Speaker 2 (36:01):
I feel like it.

Speaker 6 (36:02):
I'd say definitely.

Speaker 2 (36:03):
Would that was beautiful streight teeth. You know if Junior
had a kid and named him Junior, would he be
Junior Junior? Oh no, I know what's happening to Will Ferrell.

Speaker 14 (36:18):
They needed like you know, Chris Berman or Dan Schulman
and then Will Ferrell. Yes, they didn't have They didn't
need three guys and two of them you never heard of.

Speaker 2 (36:27):
Yeah, good point. And then this is the Wilson contrast introduction.

Speaker 17 (36:37):
I think people in Philadelphi, Boston, I get that feeling.
It is the city of brother Mill. You need, you
need a hot limon tea. Maybe you're a big point
in Sonya.

Speaker 6 (36:57):
Yeah, that's what it was like, great audio.

Speaker 2 (37:00):
Oh my god. I know it was absolutely ridiculous. And
I understand that broadcasting standards have dropped considerably. Now we
watch television and a guy is sitting in his house
on the evening news reporting on world events, and we're
fine with it. ESPN basically employs a bunch of people

(37:20):
who never leave their homes. They sit in a den
and they have a bookshelf behind them with their favorite
record in a couple of books that they wrote, or
one of their friends wrote, assigned baseball and or football,
and they opine all day from what is basically a
glorified zoom camera. I get it. We have accepted less
than ever since COVID. That is just how things are.

(37:45):
But it's got to be better than that, doesn't it.

Speaker 12 (37:49):
You know, I gotta be honest with you. I've always
found Will Ferrell to be really inconsistent. Some of his
stuff I love, Yes, Ricky, Bobby, Jackie Moon Ah, yeah,
man right, some of it I think is just awful.

Speaker 2 (38:03):
I concur and I love him, but I think when
he fails, he fails miserably, just spectacularly. He's taking swings,
He's taking home run swings. Yes, well there you go
that apropos.

Speaker 14 (38:17):
I will say this though, about the last couple of years,
I've become a watching tennis person, and the Wimbledon production
was insane.

Speaker 2 (38:27):
Where they put cameras now is really sweet?

Speaker 14 (38:30):
Yeah, like you feel like you're taking the serve? Was
Will Ferrell there at all?

Speaker 1 (38:35):
No?

Speaker 2 (38:36):
It was it was the mci roe brothers. I mean
it was like dumb and dumber. They actually are larious. No,
they're great, Macarro doesn't it. That's what I mean it tennis.
Actually watching like two straight Netflix specials on McEnroe. Yeah,
did you the have the greatest story ever?

Speaker 14 (38:50):
And when you win Wimbledon, you're supposed to go have
dinner with the queen? Okay, and he went and partied
with Mick and Keith.

Speaker 2 (38:58):
He blew him off there, didn't let him play the
next year at Wimbledon's seriously, that's awesome. That's is that great? Like,
now I'm gonna go hang out with I think I
would do that too. He probably jammed with him. He's
like a guitar player and he jams with dudes all
the time. Hey, Delli, everyone hates it. No, literally, they're
like John you can come over, just don't bring your guitar. No,

(39:20):
it's the truth. I think that's good advice for anybody
who brings a guitar with him. Abbey's got your news
coming up to the top of the hour.

Speaker 5 (39:27):
One of comedy's biggest couples are going their separate ways.

Speaker 2 (39:30):
Sean Casey the Mayor, coming up a forty five BILLI
Guard Ellen the nine o'clock.

Speaker 10 (39:33):
Allen Tyson is safe for highway travel and ready to
get you from here to there.

Speaker 2 (39:39):
Hey man, He's.

Speaker 10 (39:41):
Got a reloaded cut from the DV morning show Sports
and a Workforce commercial three Rock Block at three afternoons
with Chad Tyson on DV.

Speaker 18 (39:52):
The biggest reason Metropolitan Window Company has been in business
w DV.

Speaker 1 (39:57):
It'sborg an iHeart radio station, guaranteed human.

Speaker 5 (40:06):
So it's lost that early days of like either MySpace, Facebook,
all that kind of stuff where people actually were using
the app to communicate with each other. Yeah, you're not
really connecting with people, like maybe you follow them and
you're like half stocking them.

Speaker 2 (40:23):
But like, well it is weird. Like when I went
home last week and I was in Eerie for a
week and people I have not seen in a long
time and they know everything about you. That is such
a weird feeling. Hey, how'd your comedy fest go? I'm like,
I haven't talked to you in twenty years. Yeah, you
know what I mean. Like, it's online, and I know
that that's not a new observation, but it'll never kind

(40:45):
of not feel weird to me that people know. Like
and one woman was like, well, you know you've seen
our kids on social media, right, And I'm like, I haven't.
I'm sorry. I just we could be creepier if I said, yeah,
oh yeah, oh I've seen them all right, Yeah.

Speaker 6 (41:00):
Uncle Randy's watching.

Speaker 1 (41:04):
Brandy Bellman and the DVE Morning Show.

Speaker 2 (41:07):
Everybody. Joe Barnick's hanging out with us as well. This
morning here on the DVE Morning Show, and Abby Krisner
has a news update for you. What's going on Abby News.

Speaker 5 (41:16):
This hour is brought to you by Keystone Basement Systems
Web Basement Keystone Basementsystems dot com.

Speaker 4 (41:21):
It's mostly sunny, very hot today.

Speaker 5 (41:23):
Caution is advised if you're going to be outside for
extended periods of time. It's a high of ninety seven
as the first week of commutes of the partial closure
of the Parkway East occur pen dots directing people to
a website that has real time information on how quickly
they can get to their destination via various detour routes.

Speaker 4 (41:40):
So the website, if you.

Speaker 5 (41:42):
Don't know, is five to one one pa dot com
that provides travel times for the main detour routes and
shows real time incidents construction, traffic cams, traffic speeds, and
message board delays. Of course, the key section of the
Parkway between eastern end of Squirrel Hill Tunnel and Edgewood
Swissful is closed on Friday. That's going to remain inaccessible
until at least August the fifth.

Speaker 7 (42:03):
I saw somebody post that it was like taking thirty
seven minutes to get from Forest Hill to the south side.

Speaker 2 (42:11):
Oh, there was people in traffic for two hours, two hours,
waterfronts and mess Uh, this is going to be a
night to mere for a while. August fifth is the
conservative i've seen.

Speaker 4 (42:28):
Yeah, really, Yeah, it's kind of wiggling a little bit.

Speaker 7 (42:31):
Yeah, I guess you have to say it a date,
but wouldn't you want to be kind of sure? So,
I mean, people, it's licensed to freak out once you
blow past August fifth.

Speaker 2 (42:42):
What do you think the average number of trucker bombs
per day is in that traffic.

Speaker 7 (42:47):
Well, and you know, necessity is the mother of trucker bombing.
So people who never do that, unpracticed people are peeing
into bottles in their own cars right now.

Speaker 2 (42:59):
Oh yeah, there's gonna be some some yetties that get mugs. Yeah, exactly.
Those are like neutron bombs. Well, Stanley coming, they're too expensive.
You can't say you just gotta sit there. Yeah, well,
now use that, but then you just got to, I
don't know, go home and wash it. I don't I'm
not sure I can't just throw it out the window.

(43:20):
But when you're in traffic that lot, well, they should
probably just put up porta potties. That would be a
good idea.

Speaker 19 (43:24):
Right now, it's only one dred degrees nine degree heat.
I walk past one. I walked past the portage on
my way to the gym in my neighborhood. It's like
right by the ballfield. And then in the heat, it's
like I hold my breath when I'm thirty yards away,
and then I fast walk past it thirty yards past,
and I'm like, because I can't breathe it in because

(43:46):
if you get snuck up on with that, it's brutal.

Speaker 2 (43:49):
Is it open to the public or is it for
a construction site.

Speaker 7 (43:52):
It's like sort of both, Like there's I think like
public works. Dudes like chill down there and use it.

Speaker 2 (44:01):
I don't know.

Speaker 7 (44:02):
Yeah, it's like what if you smell it, you get
a migraine, is what it is.

Speaker 2 (44:07):
I was going to, Uh, there's a there was a
bar I was going to last week that's on a
barge and all they have is a porta potty, Like
that's the bathroom and it's it was so hot, so
every time you had to go, yeah, to hold your
breath and jump in there exactly.

Speaker 6 (44:25):
It was the worst.

Speaker 2 (44:27):
Like everything about this bar was great, except that I said,
tat a video of it. I'm like, look, my cool,
I'm on the water, super fun, super fun. But the
only place to go to the bathroom it's in a
hot porta potty. Hot, Yeah, porta potties. Look, there's never
a good porta potty experience. There's only not disgusting. Like

(44:51):
that wasn't too bad. Yeah, I'm on record. I go home.
That's it. Yeah, buzz Kills show over. You won't even
pee in them. No, I'll.

Speaker 14 (45:01):
Nine nine times out of ten, I'll pee buy a
car and risk being arrested.

Speaker 2 (45:08):
And then the worst was my gall bladderstone incident. Well,
i'd like to hear about that show. No, you've heard
about it a few times on the show at the
Rose Bowl whatever. Oh yeah, that's right, okay, all right, yeah,
yeah yeah.

Speaker 14 (45:20):
And then finally people start going into the game, so
I got to go. It like you had to go
to the bathroom so bad, but you couldn't go. Yes,
just a terrible feeling and a porta potty. And so
when it finally popped, it popped in a porta potty. No,
and it finally popped, I was cause they were like
minutes away from rushing me to the hospital. I was

(45:41):
just relaxed by a truck and I still remember seeing
it hit the tire.

Speaker 2 (45:49):
That's what it felt like. I felt immediately, immediate rely,
Oh my god. But it was a kidney stone, Kitty,
I'm sorry, Okay, I was gonna say, I didn't know
you pee out gallstones. No, No, Kidney got my stones confused? Yeah,
Mick and Keith, Oh yeah, Kidney's the pean out of

(46:12):
Kidney's known in a hot porter potty sounds about as
bad as it can get. Well, you don't know what's wrong.
I know what was wrong.

Speaker 14 (46:18):
I'm like, how I've had fifteen beers already and you
just all you wanted to do is pee and nothing
would happened. They couldn't come out.

Speaker 1 (46:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 14 (46:25):
Yeah, And then that's why I could see in my ice.
I could just see it come out like yeah, yeah,
crazy stuff. Well, we're all glad here. Okay. Have you
ever had someone try to say, hey, you want to
do some drugs in this port? I'm like, are you crazy?

Speaker 3 (46:41):
No?

Speaker 2 (46:42):
RFK.

Speaker 5 (46:45):
Tom Segura and Christina p are going their separate ways
after nearly two decades his husband and wife. Source that
familiar with the situation told TMZ the comedians and podcast
hosts recently separated after eighteen years of marriage. Told the
split happened within the last couple of months and is
completely amicable. TMZ is also told that they had a

(47:06):
special and productive relationship, creating one of the most successful
comedy podcast networks in the industry, and more importantly, two kids.
They're taking different paths moving forward, and remained devoted to
their children.

Speaker 14 (47:18):
Well, that was on one of their first dates with them. Really, Yeah,
I've known them forever. I've known them forever.

Speaker 2 (47:25):
Well, you were here at the Comedy Fest where we
had Tom Segura and Christina Paziski as part of the lineup.
That was the one that was It was Jim Norton,
Michael Ja, Christina Pazzitski and Tom Segura was that was
like the big show. And then me and Versey were
on the Medium Show. Yes, we had the Rex Theater
show also and that was the night Ralphie May was

(47:47):
in town, right, and then we all got together afterwards
and eight nine hundred primannies and nobody slept but we
all ate won and Ralphie had seven hundred. That's true. Yeah, Well,
ralph he was sitting in my I have a bar
in my basement and there's like this big bar school
there that he was sitting on. And the next day

(48:08):
that was like it was like a crime scene imprint
of Ralphie in Coleslaw.

Speaker 6 (48:14):
This is like his body.

Speaker 2 (48:17):
But somewhat of a surprise, I know, eighteen years is
a long time, but a little bit surprised that Christina
p and Tom they always seem so unbelievably close that
if anybody was gonna make it in show business, those
two would.

Speaker 9 (48:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 14 (48:32):
It never even brings them up as like one of
the only two or three comedy couples that ever works out.

Speaker 2 (48:37):
Yeah, yeah, I don't. I mean, I don't know.

Speaker 14 (48:40):
Where did you go on one of their first dates? Oh, like,
you know, some dive bar, like they were like hanging
out for the first time, Like, oh, you guys are
a couple, and like, eh, Christina was like, oh, like giddy.

Speaker 2 (48:50):
Yeah, I love Christina. She's great. Tom's always super cool
to me. Yeah, but they've both been great with us
in the past too, so I wish him both. Well.
I wonder if she's gonna move back to la I
wonder if she's free out in Austin. Oh I didn't.
I guess I didn't realize he went to Austin.

Speaker 14 (49:04):
Well they both did and didn't know that. Yeah, they
live in Austin. They have some big compound or whatever. Yeah,
everyone does. It's the end thing to do in the
comedy world. Yeah, it's still Austin.

Speaker 2 (49:15):
I don't understand, Joe, When are you gonna spark the
all the comics should move to Pittsburgh movement? Why you
mean either's those stage time anyway.

Speaker 14 (49:24):
Maybe you know me and Sean Coyer, so we got
keep it locked down. I need Actually a buddy of
mine just moved to mister Ricardo. I'm space on his
first name right now. I'm good friend. Yeah, good friend. No,
he he's following his Josh Accardo.

Speaker 2 (49:45):
He's his.

Speaker 14 (49:46):
I guess he got divorced. He's a New York comic.
Great guy. And he's like, I just moved to Pittsburgh. Guy,
what are you doing?

Speaker 2 (49:51):
He goes out, my wife, I got divorced and following
my kid here to have lunch for dinner with him
next week or so well, come up with a plan
to launch a big comedy boon here.

Speaker 14 (50:01):
I'm trying to, yeah, you know, trying to get some
shows together. Got one Thursday night for the final bit
for the tell the Kidney Stone story.

Speaker 2 (50:11):
I'm sorry, I'm sorry. Just think fibrosis.

Speaker 14 (50:13):
I've done so many benefits last two weeks.

Speaker 2 (50:22):
One of those weird tonight to raise money for this
wicked thing. Am I right?

Speaker 6 (50:30):
Folks, It's like a Krusty the Clown move.

Speaker 2 (50:33):
I don't even know what jaredy I'm doing. That's terrible,
isn't it oh my heartbreak it again.

Speaker 5 (50:41):
Anyways, all Right, Warner Brothers has just dropped the first
trailer for the Tom Cruise starring Alejandro in Aratu directed Digger.

Speaker 2 (50:51):
Did anybody get to see it? Yes?

Speaker 6 (50:52):
To watch the trailer.

Speaker 5 (50:53):
Yeah, this is uh Ala Cruz's major studio boss Les
Grossman and Tropic Thunder. He transforms into another kind of
opposite once again. So it's very blunt, southern talking, older
pot belly oil baron who may have set off a
massive global economic disaster. And his name is Digger Rockwell.

(51:16):
So he's the only guy who can fix what looks
to be a rapidly melting Iceberg crisis, and he's ordered
by the standing US President who's played by John Goodman,
to save the day.

Speaker 2 (51:26):
All Right, this sounds more interesting than anything he's done
in a long time to me, Cruz, Yeah, Tom Cruise
and Will Smith are two guys where I have a
hard time watching their movies because I just can't separate them.
I just feel like i'm watching them. I don't feel
like I'm watching a movie. I feel like I'm watching

(51:46):
that person, you know what I mean. Yeah, And so
I just I'm never really a fan, though I think
Tom Cruise has done.

Speaker 14 (51:53):
Some great movies. I'm triggered. I can't even talk about
Will Smith. I get triggered because he slapped Chris Rocky.

Speaker 2 (51:59):
Yeah, I hope you whatever. He's doing some show he's
going around the world, but he falls off by an Arctica.

Speaker 14 (52:06):
Did you just say you hope he falls off and
the world.

Speaker 2 (52:11):
Yeah, I just I want the worst things to happen
to him. But Tom Tom Cruise Impossible is amazing. I
looked there very good. I'm just saying I can't separate
Tom Cruise from the movie. I feel like I'm watching
Tom Cruise. That's all you are though. Yeah, no, I know,
I know, but like you know, sometimes you get engrossed
in a movie and you just like I never don't

(52:31):
think like, oh, sure, Tom Cruise. You know what I mean?

Speaker 7 (52:34):
If you feel like that this Digger movie is gonna
be much of the same because the makeup is so pronounced.

Speaker 2 (52:43):
Okay, well see now, I think that that might actually
help me. Like that movie Collaterally did where he had
like the white hair him and Jamie Foxx. Yeah, that
was a good movie. I thought that was good.

Speaker 5 (52:52):
I prefer him to do weird roles like that. Then
then see him as an action star like I don't
know why. I don't care about that. I'd rather him
in like a Vanilla Sky. Then I would rather see
him in a mission impossible.

Speaker 2 (53:03):
Completely agree. I think it's interesting that King Ralph is
now a president. Yes, well it's a downgrade, but presidency
is kind of getting monarchy these days, so who knows.
That's one of the best lines I have. Diver Fence.
Oh in college, just watches you quoting the movie King Ralph.
Trendy movies, you know that classic King Ralph. What year

(53:32):
was King Ralph? That'd be like nineteen ninety or something
like eighty six. Maybe, don't okay, I don't know. I
never did see that. John Goodman, No, no, we're gonna around.
It was All the Time, nineteen ninety one. It's a
great cast. Peter O'Toole John Hurt. I mean, you know,
but an Oscar should have an Oscar. They were robbed.

Speaker 7 (53:55):
He hits a danger with a cricket bat Randy, Oh, okay, spoiler,
all right, I do watch.

Speaker 2 (54:00):
You know, we'll put it on Sean Collier's list of
movies to watch. He hates all the movies I love
every time we get Sean Collier are like, oh, dude,
you've never seen this. You have to see it. He
watches it and he's like, I don't know what you
guys were thinking. This is terrible. Okay, well, all right,
all right.

Speaker 5 (54:16):
Googles be getting a policy to disclose ads that are
made using AI. Consumers can now see that information by
clicking on the info icon when using a Google platform.
The company says a disclaimer will be automatic when an
advertiser uses an AI image. The staff writer for The
Atlantic did a story on how AI is already breaking

(54:36):
our brains. There's clear evidence that we're not thinking for
ourselves as much as we used to. But here are
a few techniques to try and prevent that from happening.
Number One, when you're using AI, ask for hints, not answers.
So people who ask AI to directly answer their questions
suffer severe declines in motivation and ability. But people who

(54:59):
ask aif, background thinking or clarifications do not.

Speaker 2 (55:03):
So every time I hear like ask AI, I will
just type into Google something.

Speaker 6 (55:08):
But that is using AI.

Speaker 4 (55:10):
I mean it kind of is. But you're using it
for a search function, right.

Speaker 5 (55:13):
Yes, So it's not like saying like, you know, write
an email to my you know that's different boss or
something like that, so I don't have to think about it,
you know, just the function.

Speaker 20 (55:24):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (55:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (55:26):
Number two is start with a blank page when you
want its take on something quote, write up your own
analysis and conclusions, and then ask AI to challenge your thinking,
not produce your thinking. Okay, which I like that so
if you did okay, let's go back to the email example.
You wrote an email that was like, you know, something
that work that was giving you anxiety and you were

(55:49):
worried that it wasn't coming off the right way. You
write it first, then you pop what you wrote into
AI and let it be like, hey, this is where
this is unclear instead of you just saying like okay,
AI did it and I'm good, got it okay. Number
three rotate tasks. Every time you do a task with AI,
follow it with a task that doesn't involve AI that
will keep your creative effort muscles alive.

Speaker 4 (56:14):
Okay, I don't know, let's say something.

Speaker 6 (56:16):
Out the double the work clean your bathroom.

Speaker 5 (56:20):
Yeah, and the final thing for number four, make a
sharp distinction between the rote work and the creative work.
Let AI write quick emails. Don't let it write your
essays or your memos.

Speaker 2 (56:34):
Yeah, I would just refrain from letting it do anything
outside of a search. Personally, my buddy got very angry
angry with me for criticizing him for using it for
his heat for decoration ideas. He was like making a
man cave, and he used AI to give him all
kinds of like interior design ideas. And I came around

(56:54):
on that one. I'm like, He's like, I would have
never thought to do this stuff, and it looks awesome,
and I'm like, okay, right, all right, I'm willing to
admit that does not seem to erode your brain because
you did not have that in your brain. You need
AI to tell you where to hang your steeler pictures. Yeah,
he'd end up doing like this whole like ship lap thing.

(57:17):
I don't know, you know, it looks very cool, but.

Speaker 5 (57:19):
I used it to I just gave my daughter a
new bedroom for her birthday, for her tenth birthday, and
I used AI to do it because I took a
picture of her room. We talked about all these things
that she wanted, and then I was just like, don't
show me what.

Speaker 4 (57:34):
That looks like.

Speaker 5 (57:34):
And then, you know, but I wrote things like keep
all the existing furniture, change it to this color.

Speaker 2 (57:41):
Did you involve her in this selection?

Speaker 5 (57:42):
Pros I wish that together, and we did it because
she was kind of talking about like, well, I don't
want this, but I do want, you know, these kind
of characters in my room, and I don't want this
kind of pink.

Speaker 4 (57:53):
I want this kind of pink.

Speaker 5 (57:54):
And so I was just like, okay, let's put our
ideas together, because if we're doing a pink room, I
don't want to paint it again in four years when
you tell me it's cringe. So like, now I need
my you know, adult version of being like, give me
the softest, most you know, adaptable pink color that you
can find given these parameters. And it gave me this

(58:15):
perfect room and I'm like, great, what paint colors are those?
And then gave me that went out, bought the paint done.
I'm like, that's kind of awesome instead of you know,
going through the process of getting it wrong a bunch
of times.

Speaker 2 (58:26):
Yeah, yeah, do that saved me time, right, So I
can see that as a sort of like acceptable use
of AI.

Speaker 8 (58:33):
Yes, all right, it's super hot today it's going to
be high of ninety seven.

Speaker 2 (58:38):
Mike Pursuita coming in with the sports. Not all lot
going on. The home run derby last night was exciting
if you watched Jordan Walker rally late and he had
to hit like seven home runs in a row. They
have a new format that people seem to really like.
The broadcast stunk, but it seemed like the actual home
run derby was pretty exciting. I couldn't watch it because
the broadcast was annoying the piss out of me, and

(58:59):
I was like, oh, thanks, put on an old sopranos instead. Michael,
have a full report on that and I'll look ahead
for your buckos.

Speaker 3 (59:05):
Here.

Speaker 2 (59:06):
Sean Casey, the Mayor, joins us at eight forty five
Billy Gardell in the entire nine am hour here on THEE.

Speaker 1 (59:12):
No matter how you listen, DVE is always there. Listen
on the free iHeartRadio apth on all your devices and
save us as a pre sins.

Speaker 10 (59:22):
Why don't you point find DV live from the Donz
appliance in studios where Pittsburgh shops for appliances. This is
w DVEE Pittsburgh from the Seedon Hill University Weather Center
schedule your campus visit today.

Speaker 15 (59:37):
This report is sponsored by Pierre's ice Cream.

Speaker 11 (59:40):
It's going to be another hot one today, mostly sunning,
very hot. Hive ninety for is Mike pursuita with three takes?
That resident?

Speaker 2 (59:47):
I hear we all three takes one two three Mic pursuita.

Speaker 12 (59:50):
Let's go take number one? Different strokes for different folks.
The three home runs blasted by his Merlin Valdez against
Milwaukee provided the excel point for the player who has
clearly emerged as the Buckos breakout star of baseball's unofficial
first half, but a couple of bats on which the
ball didn't leave the infield, let alone the yard against

(01:00:12):
the Brewers were likewise revealing. Valdez grounded into a second
to short the first double play in the bottom of
the eighth in Game two on Saturday.

Speaker 2 (01:00:21):
That's not the desired.

Speaker 12 (01:00:23):
Result, but he was trying to move the runners into
scoring position in a one run game, as he should
have been. And on Sunday, Valdez accepted a bases loaded
walk during the Pirates ten run eruption in the fourth
inning rather than swing from his heels for the cheap seats.
He apparently has an understanding a situational plan from a

(01:00:43):
bat to at bat. It isn't just home run or bust,
and that might make Baldez the real deal. That can't
impress me this weekend?

Speaker 2 (01:00:51):
Oh man, he's again. He's the sample sizes. If you
use Indy, it's substantial. Knows how to play baseball, or
so it appears. Take number two Mason has entered the chat.

Speaker 12 (01:01:04):
Lefting Mason Montgomery save in Game two on Saturday was
also as revealing potentially as it was encouraging. Montgomery walked
Christian Yellis to open the ninth, which is never advisable,
but Montgomery did so in part because he refused to
serve up a meatball on three and two that could
have tied the game. Unfazed by putting the tying run

(01:01:24):
on base, Montgomery worked through the Brewers two, three, and
four hitters in succession and closed it. Could he too,
actually know what he's doing. Closer is still wide open.
Montgomery deserves some runway in an effort to try and
change that. I like that Take number three defense wins championships.

(01:01:46):
That's the theory. At least France and Spain may both
test it in their World Cup semi final today. France
has allowed two goals in six games and Spain won.
The suspicion is that's the case because these are two
elite teams, not because they're two teams playing soccer and
nobody ever scores. It should be tough to score in

(01:02:07):
final fours in any sport. I'm looking forward to a
struggle to produce chances, let alone goals this afternoon. Yeah,
I said that, I really am. I want to see
a battle royal today and I want to get excited
if there might be a chance.

Speaker 6 (01:02:24):
You are.

Speaker 2 (01:02:25):
Your embrace of the World Cup has I don't know,
want to say it's surprising, but it's uh.

Speaker 12 (01:02:32):
You know somewhat. I mean, I'm still out nuts for me,
I'm still not nuts for the sport. But I get
the beautiful game. I get the drama, I get the stakes,
I get the world stage, I get the passion, I
get the.

Speaker 2 (01:02:44):
Emotion that's compelling. Yeah, and it's gonna go away. I
mean that's the other thing. It's not like I'm going
to adopt Everton. Yeah, you're not gonna. I'm on the weekend.
You're gonna watch Premier League games.

Speaker 12 (01:02:56):
It's not gonna happen see at the Olympics, boys, but
give us a good ending here and go friends.

Speaker 2 (01:03:02):
We are from France. I just want Argentina to beat England.
That's all I care about. Last night the home run
derby pretty exciting by all accounts, Mike. For the people
who watch a terrible broadcast, Yeah, but well, I mean
I tried to watch it. It was just way too
annoying of a production. But Jordan Walker had such an

(01:03:26):
amazing performance last night. He basically had to hit six
in a row because they changed the format and you
had limited swings, which I think is a great idea,
but they took a clock out of it, which made
it go until who knows what time. But Jordan Walker's
dad was behind home plate rooting on his son in
a crowd full of Philly people who were cheering for

(01:03:48):
Kyle Schwarber, which was pretty funny. He got interviewed after
the game and he.

Speaker 21 (01:03:53):
Was, honestly, so, I don't know, man, I mean, he's
a great hitter, sawments on he was doing hitting a
whole lot of home runs. So I just came in
here trying to be easy and trying to swing as
easy as I can and I'll go on my way.

Speaker 4 (01:04:07):
They're still doing you.

Speaker 18 (01:04:08):
What's it like to have forty thousand people brew you.

Speaker 21 (01:04:11):
I was once sold you don't boot nobody, So it
feels pretty good.

Speaker 15 (01:04:13):
Yeah right.

Speaker 2 (01:04:14):
How about your dad, Derek, get over here, get over here?
How about your boy?

Speaker 20 (01:04:19):
Oh he was awesome today. I just loved everything about it.
Just his attitude, his approach, the smoothness. Is this swing
look like his dad? But yeah, he just did a
great job. We're so proud of him. He just really
went proud.

Speaker 2 (01:04:32):
He told me at six years old he had her
home run. Don't hate his grandma's car.

Speaker 4 (01:04:36):
When did you know he could be this?

Speaker 2 (01:04:38):
Oh man?

Speaker 20 (01:04:39):
So that was an indication there. That was one good invitation.
I think again, from early age, he always loved the game.
He always loved to play baseball, loved to sleep with
his glove. He always had a bat. We traveled with
it all the time. He you know, h slept thought baseball.

Speaker 2 (01:04:56):
And he just kept progressing.

Speaker 20 (01:04:58):
He just he just kept getting better and better and
working in his craft.

Speaker 2 (01:05:01):
And again, we can't be more proud. You said you
were so nervous Jordan coming in. We full of me.

Speaker 15 (01:05:08):
We didn't look it, no No, absolutely was nervous.

Speaker 16 (01:05:10):
Man hold on one.

Speaker 2 (01:05:12):
Second, right Howard. Ryan Howard comes over and well, playing
from right Howard. I mean, that's pretty awesome. His family
looks like they like his sisters were on the field
with him and everything. It was like an extremely wholesome moment.
And it happened in front of a bunch of angry
Philly fans, which I absolutely love. They were booing him.

(01:05:35):
His dad's like, we couldn't be more proud of him.
He slept with his glove. Yeah, Philly, I know Harper
goes out in the first round and Schoreburg got that close,
that close on the way for you. We'll talk with
Sean Casey coming up at age forty five. Dumb Mayor

(01:05:55):
Tonight's All Star Game. I don't know what to be
even excited about her, how much I'll want tonight. The
year that they tried to make it matter, I think
things took a turn in the All Star Game, and
it's I'm not sure that much should be riding on it,
you know what I mean.

Speaker 12 (01:06:17):
Well, they didn't used to have to have a carrot. Yes,
I mean the guys used to want to play. We
can get blasts on. He could tell the same stories
he's always told about how competitive it was.

Speaker 2 (01:06:26):
Yeah, Cadon went and talked to him in his own
locker room.

Speaker 12 (01:06:29):
I get that that changed with free agency and interleague play,
and it's not you never see this guy against that
guy anymore. But the players do not want to really participate,
at at least too many of them. It's had an effect.
It's diluted it. Yeah, and if they don't care, why
should we.

Speaker 2 (01:06:48):
By the way, I just want to point out, I'm
just now realizing you're wearing your Rigs Baseball shirt this morning.
I am sick. Did you watch this cigarette? Smell out
of it or at the times? Yeah? Put mine through twice?
Did you?

Speaker 20 (01:07:01):
Ah?

Speaker 2 (01:07:02):
Nice? I like their slogan, though. If you're not more side,
you're outside. There you go, Abby, I'll have your news
coming up at the top of the hour.

Speaker 5 (01:07:09):
So there was an MLB reporter that was on a
hot Mike calling Paul Skeins a future Yankee. We'll play
that audio for you, and Mick Jagger does not believe
in meeting your heroes.

Speaker 2 (01:07:18):
Joe Bartneck's live and studio with us as well this
morning on DV.

Speaker 1 (01:07:22):
The Electric Lunch sounds better because it's all request through socials,
phone or they talk about talking on the Ilheart radio app.
You picked the songs Michelle plays on the Electric Lunch
on DV.

Speaker 8 (01:07:36):
Hey friends, it's abby and think about the last time
you actually had your carpets cleaned because vacuuming.

Speaker 2 (01:07:42):
It turns out it's the DV morning show Raady Down
and along with Mike Prosuda, Addy Christener, Tad Whistler, Buddy
Joe Bartnick is in studio with us this morning as well.
And well, the thing that the entire country is really
talking out right now is, uh, who that kooky little parasites?

Speaker 20 (01:08:06):
I have a I have.

Speaker 2 (01:08:10):
I have Diaryeah, I have a dia. Yes, it seems
like we're all going to have a bad case area. Yeah.
The name of it, once again, cyclospora. Okay, is that's
the parasite. That's the parasite. And they believe for the

(01:08:32):
most part that it is in Lettuce, Michigan has tallied
twenty six and forty cases and forty four hospitalizations. That's
what I'm saying. This is not just like you pooped
your pins, you pop your pants, everybody go into the
dookie dance. This is something completely different.

Speaker 5 (01:08:54):
Yeah, Lettuce is the common product that regularly comes up
in the investigation just because it's so diff dificult to clean.

Speaker 2 (01:09:01):
So you know, I think everything that you're ordering from
now on is going to be like mm no lettuce,
know nothing. You've get a cheeseburger, no veggies, no nothing.
According to doctor Priam Bordoloi, who is a specialist in
this kind of stuff, he says it loves fresh raw produce,

(01:09:25):
cyclospora and bagged salads. We talked about this yesterday. That's
the big culprit right now, which I think everybody just
thinks that means like, oh yeah, when they give you
the salad makings, and I think that's all like lettuce
that's bagged, which is almost exclusively what I've been using. Berries.

(01:09:46):
I'm a big berry guy. No berries anymore, basil fresh basil,
If you go your own at home, you're fine. It's
pretty easy to grow basil. Think of it that way.
And cilantro completely microscopic. Of course, you don't catch it
from someone coughing. It's not like so if someone has
it in your house, you can't get it from them.

(01:10:07):
What if you kiss someone with cyclists or let's find
out under the Kaufman's clock. No, I don't know. I
don't think you will get it. I think it's like
because it is ingested at that point.

Speaker 5 (01:10:21):
I don't think you'd want to kiss somebody who had it,
because they'd be like, no, it's not what you're looking for.

Speaker 2 (01:10:27):
Here's the thing, man, like people who are sick like
or weakened immune systems or maybe going through chemo and
stuff like that. Older people, this can be life threatening.
It's no joke for them because it's severe dehydration. They're saying. Now.
Yesterday they were like, ah, just be careful of whatever.
Now they're like, no, no, no, avoid all of this

(01:10:49):
stuff for at least a week until we learn a
little bit more. No, bag salads and any vegetables that
you do have you have to cook to a hundred
and fifty eight degrees. I think something like that.

Speaker 6 (01:11:02):
That's what I saw.

Speaker 2 (01:11:02):
Okay and fifty won't cut it. Now, I don't believe so, no,
so just be very very careful. I saw a video
on those bag selets. I threw them all out. Yeah,
they're just it's disgusting.

Speaker 21 (01:11:17):
I know.

Speaker 2 (01:11:17):
Neil Young always used to say that during the farm,
made things you're like, those bag shells are bad for you.

Speaker 14 (01:11:21):
You know, and I go play with its.

Speaker 2 (01:11:24):
Well it's just easy then yeah grab it. Yeah, but
you throw a little protein in there and you got
a nice lunch. Yeah. Except this kind of thing can happen.
So should you not eat vegetables at all? Well, you
can still eat vegetables. You just got to cook them.
You got to cook the bejesus out of them.

Speaker 7 (01:11:43):
What better day to make a nice, big hot pot
of soup than today ninety seven degrees.

Speaker 6 (01:11:52):
And that's what you should.

Speaker 2 (01:11:53):
That's what they're saying to do, is like, if you
have veggies, make a soup out of it.

Speaker 6 (01:11:56):
Yep, boil it. Great time for it.

Speaker 2 (01:11:58):
Boil it, or to roll the dice. Yeah.

Speaker 14 (01:12:01):
Now, is it like they knows all the lettuce from
like Wisconsin? Or is it like they don't let us
all over the world. We know it's it's here.

Speaker 2 (01:12:10):
And the program that we used to have to follow
these things and track it Elon and his doge buddies
got rid of it last year, So we have no
idea of knowing where this started, where it's located now,
how fast it's spreading, or any of that kind of stuff.
Which makes it more fun for the family at home.
Who's going to get it first? You don't want it,

(01:12:32):
I do know that much. But the fact that it's
constantly being described as explosive diarrhea is hilarious. Like we
said yesterday, it's just like a funny term, like, what
are your symptoms? Well, it's, uh, explosive diarrhea docket. That's
basically what it is.

Speaker 14 (01:12:54):
No swimming for two weeks? Oh my god, I didn't
eve think about that. But the other thing is how
every signs like two weeks, Like some comics have some
great jokes.

Speaker 2 (01:13:05):
I hadn't thought about that. No swimming pool, so people.

Speaker 4 (01:13:07):
What if you find out you have it at the pool?

Speaker 2 (01:13:11):
Oh yeah.

Speaker 14 (01:13:15):
The other weird thing is that like just cook the parasite.
And I'm like, well, you're still that's weird that you're
eating dead parasites. But I guess you do that all
the time when you cook things. But now that I
know it could be in there.

Speaker 7 (01:13:24):
Yeah, you don't even want to think that that is
something that you're engaging in constantly.

Speaker 6 (01:13:28):
Which you are.

Speaker 2 (01:13:30):
I five.

Speaker 6 (01:13:30):
The incubation period is not great.

Speaker 7 (01:13:33):
Tend five to ten days because you know, it's like
it's not happening on a Tuesday.

Speaker 6 (01:13:38):
It's going to be Saturday morning. You got plans?

Speaker 2 (01:13:42):
Oh yeah, Ah, I just hope it doesn't happen. If
I get it, I don't want to be around anybody.
If you know it's going to be in here. I
hope not. I mean, you can hope as much as
you want, Randy, I'm terrified that that's what's gonna happen.
Goodness is it wouldn't ruin the studio. No, you never know,

(01:14:03):
Beteran here is gross. Last night's home run Derby reminded
me of this. Do you remember this girl's anthem from
two years ago?

Speaker 1 (01:14:12):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (01:14:13):
Say, can you say?

Speaker 2 (01:14:18):
By the dawns? What's so proudly?

Speaker 22 (01:14:26):
We by the trio light, last clean Foods, broad shape.

Speaker 4 (01:14:37):
Sun bright Sun.

Speaker 2 (01:14:40):
To the pairs?

Speaker 22 (01:14:44):
Fine, oh the rest, but we watch We're so gayly stream.

Speaker 2 (01:14:58):
Rockets, the bombs bust, all right, God bless her?

Speaker 1 (01:15:07):
All right?

Speaker 10 (01:15:07):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:15:08):
The weird thing about that, she was like, it was
so bad she had to come out afterwards and be like,
I was hammered and I'm going to rehab see you
guys later.

Speaker 4 (01:15:16):
Yeah, that's all you can do.

Speaker 5 (01:15:18):
She sounds like one of those singers that like gets
a lot of accolades for being like a soft singer
like Billie Eilish style, but like if they try to
belt it, it just goes sideways. Because she was introduced
as like a national recording artist, like they made a
like they made a big deal about her being like
recording artists, blah blah, and so people's expectations were that that's.

Speaker 2 (01:15:38):
That she would know how to sing a little bit. Yeah,
she did not, But I do think it's funny, Like
you mentioned Billie Eilish, like when people do the anthem
like they want to have sex with it, you know,
it's not the vibe. Francis scott Key did not have

(01:15:58):
a boner. Well wow, well, Matty's going your news next.

Speaker 5 (01:16:02):
All right, So an MLB reporter was caught on a
hot mic calling Paul Scheme's a future Yankee.

Make a sharp distinction between the rote work and the
creative work.

Speaker 4 (01:17:50):
Let AI write quick emails.

Speaker 5 (01:17:52):
Don't let it write your essays or your memos.

Speaker 2 (01:17:56):
I yeah, I would just refrain from letting it do
anything outside of a search. Personally, my buddy got very
angry angry with me for criticizing him for using it
for his heat for decoration ideas. He was like making
a man cave, and he used AI to give him
all kinds of like interior design ideas. And I came

(01:18:17):
around on that one. I'm like, He's like, I would
have never thought to do this stuff, and it looks awesome,
and I'm like, okay, all right, all right, I'm willing
to admit that does not seem to erode your brain
because you did not have that in your brain.

Speaker 14 (01:18:31):
You need AI to tell you where to hang your
steeler pictures?

Speaker 1 (01:18:35):
Yeah, Randy Bellman and the DV Morning Show.

Speaker 2 (01:18:40):
Yeah, Joe Barnica hanging out with this is some morning
shoe you sent me. Forwarded this to me. Foods that
starve parasites from your gut pumpkin, seeds, pineapple, but by seeds, wormwood.
I don't know what wormwood is? Good show, I think
Tyler Sheridan write that a wormwood, lemon, ginger, cayenne pepper,

(01:19:01):
raw carrots, It scrapes parasites from your intestines. Rock herrots
does U raw honey and cloves. So there you go.
If you're looking to form a defense against the parasite
that is coming for all of us, you have to
eat carrotsh You're not supposed to do that.

Speaker 4 (01:19:21):
But aren't we supposed to be afraid of carrots?

Speaker 2 (01:19:23):
I don't. I think this is not leafy. It's not
the same wash your carrots.

Speaker 6 (01:19:28):
What That's what I just did.

Speaker 4 (01:19:32):
I can't do that at work.

Speaker 2 (01:19:34):
Well, I don't want the pair anyways. Um Seun Casey,
the Mayor, will be joining us eight to forty five
this morning. Billy gardell in at nine o'clock hour on
the slowest week of the calendar year, the All Star
break week, nothing is going on. You do have the
World Cup games, at least there are two the semifinals here.

(01:19:57):
What if you didn't have that, I mean here, I
mean the home run derby. There's only so much analyzing
you can do with that. There's just nothing going on. Thankfully,
Abby's here with all of the pertinent news right now.

Speaker 5 (01:20:10):
News this hour brought to you by Windownation. Mostly sunny,
very hot today. If you're gonna be outside used caution
high of ninety seven today. Oh my god, I'm thinking
about all those people that are working on that commercial
street bridge.

Speaker 2 (01:20:23):
Oh yeah, we're gonna be outside.

Speaker 4 (01:20:26):
All right.

Speaker 5 (01:20:27):
And a reporter interviewed MLB star Paul Skins and referred
to him as a future Yankee. So this prompted a
confused response from Schemes. We're gonna play you the audio
here if you haven't had a chance to hear it yet.
But this was captured and now what's becoming a viral
clip during the All Star event.

Speaker 16 (01:20:54):
Future Yankee.

Speaker 5 (01:20:57):
So the woman that was walking away just said, I
just got the most amazing interview with Paul Schmes. Yeah,
oh yeah, future Yankee and that's what he was responding to.
She was kind of further in the background and harder
to hear, right, but that other person reiterated it.

Speaker 4 (01:21:12):
But he he made this confused face and he was like,
who's that.

Speaker 6 (01:21:15):
Yeah, Like, hey, that's not cool.

Speaker 4 (01:21:18):
Don't tell them shut up.

Speaker 2 (01:21:21):
I mean, we all know that's probably gonna happen, but like,
have a little kooth, lady. It was probably like some
blogger or influencer who got to be in the pass.

Speaker 5 (01:21:33):
Well, I mean super unprofessional also to celebrate the win,
like literally right next to him and just started being like.

Speaker 8 (01:21:40):
I just got this amazing interview.

Speaker 4 (01:21:42):
It's like, oh, you suck.

Speaker 2 (01:21:44):
I'm dating the Patriots head coach.

Speaker 10 (01:21:51):
All right.

Speaker 5 (01:21:51):
The Rolling Stones, Mick Jagger revealed that he never met
Elvis Presley because.

Speaker 4 (01:21:57):
John Lennon warned him against it.

Speaker 8 (01:22:00):
Lennon, who famously met Presley alongside the rest of the
Beatles in nineteen sixty five, apparently came away very disappointed
and later convinced Jagger to preserve his own image of
the rock and roll icon.

Speaker 4 (01:22:13):
Quote.

Speaker 5 (01:22:13):
I remember John telling me you should never meet your heroes,
and I would never meet Elvis Mick if I were you,
and so I didn't. I took John's advice. It was
really stupid. I would have loved to meet Elvis. Maybe
my Elvis version would.

Speaker 2 (01:22:29):
Have been different.

Speaker 7 (01:22:30):
I'm imagining Jack White as Elvis in Walkhart where he
meets John Sierrell.

Speaker 2 (01:22:36):
Say look out, man.

Speaker 4 (01:22:41):
I don't know is that it never never meets your
heroes kind of thing.

Speaker 3 (01:22:45):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (01:22:45):
I mean, I have definitely met people you know. To me,
even just meeting Dana Gold at the comedy Fest was
kind of I kind of felt like that, but you
faboid a little bit, I gleefully did I told I
didn't care. I just I've been such a bit excited.
I love him, you know what I mean? I was
just so I love him too. Yeah, And I've definitely

(01:23:07):
done it on air with a few people where you
fan out like that. But I've never met anyone who
I was like, oh, I wish I didn't meet them.
But I've heard that here at DV. The famous story
was John Mellencamp. He came in and he was a
total jerk to everybody, and everybody kind of hated. But
he's notorious for being a curmudgeon, so that didn't surprise

(01:23:30):
me too much.

Speaker 6 (01:23:31):
I didn't take out his paintings. H No, it wasn't.

Speaker 2 (01:23:34):
It was it was pre his art, pre arch phase.
But You've met so many people through the years, Joe,
big stars, and I'm wondering if any of them you
thought was like, oh, we're gonna be good bye, and
then that just didn't happen. I never assumed it'd be
good buddies with anybody, or that they would be fun
to meet. You know, I'm not sure.

Speaker 14 (01:23:56):
It's just terrible radio. I've never really met someone that was.
I was like, ugh, you know, I wish I didn't
meet I'll tell you it was kind of a jerk
to me. He was rich Eisen really and everyone claims
how what a great guy is, but he was kind
of not cool. Yeah, the only one that kind of
sticks out the like I wish I didn't meet that.
What was the setting that you met him in at
an sb's party.

Speaker 2 (01:24:16):
Oh no, no, no, no, no, I take that back.
It was a Comedy Central roast. Okay. It was like yeah,
it was a big.

Speaker 14 (01:24:22):
Theater and there was like no one around, and I'm like,
I'm like, hey, rich Man, I love your stuff.

Speaker 2 (01:24:28):
He's like, yeah, thanks sports. It was just like rich
like I'm on only ten people here. He knows who
you are. Sports guys who sports guys and sportscasters and
people like that are different than entertainers. I feel like
entertainers there's an expectation of them being like the their persona.

(01:24:50):
We're sports guys. I always assume when you meet a
like big name athlete, it's going to be they don't
want to talk to you or at all.

Speaker 14 (01:24:58):
Which is why the by the way, though, like when
we're working with the Pirates, like everyone's like, oh, don't
talk to Will Clark. Will Clark couldn't have been nicer.
Jack Clark couldn't have been nicer. Like people who have
these big reputations of being jerks always seem.

Speaker 2 (01:25:10):
To be pretty nice. What about the clerks?

Speaker 14 (01:25:14):
Those guys are great, yes, exactly, But you said sports
so like, I don't know, maybe Pittsburgh is Pittsburgh. But
you know, before I worked with the Godfather, I mean
stand incredible human being.

Speaker 2 (01:25:25):
Yeah, Mike Lang incredible?

Speaker 9 (01:25:27):
What mad?

Speaker 2 (01:25:28):
People I mad?

Speaker 14 (01:25:29):
You're like, oh my god, he's so nice. Yeah, he's
a nice guy. Like I don't know, I don't know.
I'm not trying to be spurs rich, but it was
just kind of.

Speaker 2 (01:25:36):
Like what I guess athletes are the ones I'm saying, like,
never meet your hero if it's an athlete.

Speaker 10 (01:25:43):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:25:43):
I mean that's the thing is you have to understand
it if you are in that or you are at
that level, that you're going to be asked questions people
are going to want to know about you. But a
lot of them also don't have the kind of media
training and like how to like, yeah, you can be
really talented and something. It's like, honestly, that reminds me
of kind of like the issue that people would say,

(01:26:06):
like with with Kirk Cobain, like getting famous like that,
Like his core was that he was just an artist, right,
so everything in his presentation and everything that he does
is all about the artistry of things. And then you
keep throwing him into these situations where they're like that's
for me now, and he can't do it, and so
he came off as just like really you know, nonplussed

(01:26:29):
about everything or mean or just you know and all
you know, and then let's add drugs on.

Speaker 2 (01:26:34):
Top of that. Right.

Speaker 8 (01:26:34):
My point being that you know, athletes who are you know,
virtuous in whatever they do, they don't actually always know
how to Also.

Speaker 2 (01:26:45):
There's a lot of fame. There's a lot of athletes
that are great, like Sean Casey's coming on the show
in a little bit. There's there are a lot of
athletes who are great with everybody they meet, and there's
great stories that they make time, especially for kids, and
they understand. I'm not trying to paint with a broadbrush.
I'm just saying a lot of times when it's the
Derek g and the people who are like beyond famous,
you know, they transcend the sport. Those kind of people

(01:27:07):
who are like famous, that's like typically those people are
not easy to be around.

Speaker 14 (01:27:12):
Well, like Pat Ewing didn't give me an autograph. My
dad was mad at him for the rest of Yeah. Right,
so we saw him at the New York Airport and
I'm like, oh, Pat, he's your shot fan, and he's
just like, I don't do autographs.

Speaker 7 (01:27:24):
That when you reach a level of fame where you
have like goodie bags, like party favorite bags after one
night stands that you are a toxic, messed up person. Yeah,
not going to be cool to run into at the mall.

Speaker 2 (01:27:44):
Yeah, I mean, there's there's plenty of There's been some
Steelers through the years who haven't been all that easy
to deal with in town. You know, there's been a
couple of hockey players who have been arrestable. You know,
it happens. I'm trying to think, uh, like musicians who

(01:28:05):
are like notably like stay away from them, Oh, Morrissey Morsey, right?
You know who is uh from comedy is Jerry Seinfeld.
Jerry Seinfeld is notoriously like, I don't want to talk
to you. No, thank Like if you're like Jerry bigfan,
can I get an autograph? He'd be like, no, no,
And some people are like, that's great. That's exactly what

(01:28:26):
I expect from Jerry Seinfeld, Like he would be annoyed
by you, you know, and other people are like, oh,
I kind of was just hoping to have a nice
little experience.

Speaker 6 (01:28:34):
What I do like is how Paul McCartney is.

Speaker 2 (01:28:37):
Like, I don't take the Sophie's you know, He's like,
but I give you an experience, like you get to
have a few sentences with him, you know what I mean?
Like that should mean more. Pull out one are my
chest hips and put it in an omulus good. I

(01:28:57):
think it beatles one thing. You can do what you want.
I don't know. I think you should always be that.
I try to be.

Speaker 14 (01:29:04):
I'll think two days later when something like, you know,
the other day someone was like, oh and I was nice,
but I wasn't my over the top super nice and
I felt bad about it, like, oh, be cause I
was shopping, you know.

Speaker 2 (01:29:14):
I don't know. I think you should.

Speaker 14 (01:29:16):
I should be nice to everybody anyway, let alone someone's
a fan.

Speaker 2 (01:29:19):
You should really be nice. I'm sure you're a nice Joe,
don't beat yourself up. In the Italian mascot.

Speaker 14 (01:29:26):
He worked at the liquor store and he goes, oh,
big fan, I go, can you lover the prices? And
you laughed and then it was kind of like I did.
But I wasn't like, ah, you know, what's your name?
And you don't have to hug everybody, you know, but.

Speaker 4 (01:29:37):
What is that feeling? I get that too.

Speaker 5 (01:29:39):
I do feel like if I meet somebody, and especially
if they like the show or something, I feel like
if I don't meet them where they are, that I
have failed and I will think about it all day.

Speaker 2 (01:29:50):
I'm not the only person that okay good constantly.

Speaker 8 (01:29:53):
I'm just kind of like, oh my god, they're gonna
think I'm awful, and it's just because like I was busy,
or I was having a bad day or whatever.

Speaker 14 (01:30:01):
It is, you know, like I, oh no, yeah, not
even remotely meet They just just didn't meet.

Speaker 2 (01:30:07):
That level of like, yeah, I disappointed you.

Speaker 4 (01:30:11):
Yeah, I've decided that I've disappointed in life.

Speaker 2 (01:30:14):
That's one thing, But especially after a show.

Speaker 14 (01:30:16):
I hate when I'm like everyone, I hate when someone
walks by and someone's cornering you too much. It's almost
like you when you're a wedding and you kick out
of the conversation, Like I'm not trying to be mean
to you, but there's twenty people that just want to
yeah when they have their second.

Speaker 5 (01:30:30):
You know, yeah, and you're at your limit too, and
you're just like I, if I was actually just being me,
I'd let you have it a little bit right now.

Speaker 14 (01:30:40):
Why I always say me on stage is a little
nicer version of me in real life.

Speaker 2 (01:30:43):
Yeah, Birr's really good with people with fans. Oh yeah,
well yeah, yeah, I mean I'll never forget. I'll never
forget this.

Speaker 14 (01:30:52):
One time we were in Canada, way up north in Canada.
It was like five thirty in the morning in me
Him and Verse are just having like this little breakfast.
It's like almost dark in the in the in the
hotel base it wasn't a basement. We're sitting there and
there's just like one other couple there and we're just

(01:31:13):
eating and this woman goes, can I get a picture?
And Bill just very rarely does Bill ever go like,
He's like, I'm kind of eating right now, and she goes,
I know.

Speaker 2 (01:31:30):
I mean he's still talking about that. But it was
so he was the term cringe. It was like, and
she literally waited until like her boyfriend went to the
bathroom or something like to see he was probably don't
do it. Don't do it, dude.

Speaker 22 (01:31:44):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (01:31:46):
It the reverse of that. Warren Haynes did our show
one morning before a Government Mule show and he's like,
you're coming to the show, and I'm like, man, i
gotta do this thing, uh this charity thing.

Speaker 16 (01:31:56):
First.

Speaker 2 (01:31:56):
I'm gonna come late, but my my sister in law,
his dad is going to be there. He's the biggest fan,
and I'm gonna be there for the second set. And
he's like, well, hey, bring him backstage, man, bring him
back stage and we'll say hi to him. And I
was like, oh, he'd go crazy if you know, you
could make time. And he was like, yeah, no problem.
So after the show, I find their tour manager and

(01:32:20):
he's like, oh, hey, man, come on back, and we
go back there and he jumps on the bus and
he comes off. He goes, man, he just started eating,
and I was like, oh, they never because once people
are eating, it's like that's when you should leave them
alone like a dog. Hey, you know there. It's just
you can't pull them away from dinner, you know what
I mean. It's like, ah, well we mistimed it. Okay,

(01:32:43):
better luck next time and thanks for everything. And he's like, well,
hold on man, and he goes out. And Warren literally
comes off the bus chewing was like, hey man, you
made it and then made time for like that guy.
Total mench just the best. That's so cool to hear.

Speaker 7 (01:32:58):
Yeah, And Warren Haynes is like the hardest working man
in music. He's in everything exactly. He solos on everything.

Speaker 9 (01:33:05):
I know.

Speaker 2 (01:33:06):
He's the Forest Gump of rock and roll. You know what.
We have a special guest on the line right now
with the All Star Game happening tonight. This is the
star of the nineteen seventy two major League Baseball All
Star Game from your Pittsburgh Pirates. Mister Steve Blast says, yeah,
that buddy, how are you.

Speaker 9 (01:33:26):
I'm doing good. I'm doing good. It seems like that
All Star Game in seventy two yesterday. But yeah, it's
been a while, but what a great experience. I only
went once, but just to kind of set it up,
we had won the World Series a year before, so
Danny Murchal was a manager and he picked me to
be on the pitching staff. But if we had pretty

(01:33:47):
good representation too, Willie Stargell, Roberta kameny Many Sangian and
Al Oliver.

Speaker 1 (01:33:53):
I mean, can you.

Speaker 9 (01:33:54):
Can do some damage with that group? So you know,
we're flying down to Atlanta where the All Star Game was,
and Clemente gets up out of his seat and the
airplane comes down and said, Steve, would you and Karen
like to join Vera and I for dinner tonight? And
I'm thinking you think I said, I said, we join

(01:34:16):
you for a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and a
glass of skim milk. My goodness, for dinner with the Clemente's.
That's that's very very cool. So we get down there
and walking into that National League clubhouse in nineteen seventy two.
Somebody said there were thirteen future Hall of famers in

(01:34:38):
that room, and he just looked around. There's See, there's Carlton,
there's Gibson, There's Johnny Bench, Johnny Bench.

Speaker 2 (01:34:45):
Joe Morgan, Joe Torre's.

Speaker 9 (01:34:48):
Cincinnati sent the whole damn team. Yeah, but anyway you
mentioned Bench, I wind up. My locker is next to
Johnny Bench, and you know we didn't do all that
hugging and everything professional respect. Hey John, Hey, Steve, how
you doing? Yeah? He said, I understand that you're pitching
the third inning because I kind of structure it that way.

(01:35:10):
He said, I'm going to be catching. What kind of
signals do you want to use? You know, one fingers
of fastball, two is a curve. Three, there's a change,
I said, John, whenever I face you, you seem to
know what's coming. So why don't we just.

Speaker 6 (01:35:22):
Wing What a pitching staff you were involved with?

Speaker 2 (01:35:27):
There? Don Sutton, Tom Seaver, Tug McGraw, Ferguson, Jenkins, Bob Gibson,
Steve Carlton, Steve Blast, my lord, Yeah.

Speaker 9 (01:35:37):
Yeah, you could do all right?

Speaker 7 (01:35:39):
Well that staff?

Speaker 9 (01:35:40):
So I get in in the third inning and I'm
getting knocked around. I give up one run. I still
got the bases loaded with one out, and I don't
remember who it was, but somebody hit a rocket to
first base and Lee May was playing, almost knocked him over.
He catches it, stepped on first base, ending over. I
ran for the dugout those guys that's in talent too.

Speaker 2 (01:36:01):
Yeah, Hank Aaron was in the outfield for the National League.

Speaker 9 (01:36:05):
Also, Yeah, and winds up hitting a home run. I
think it might have been the game winner in his home,
you know, ballpark, in his home city.

Speaker 2 (01:36:13):
So it was.

Speaker 9 (01:36:14):
It was entirely fitting, but it was. It was quite
an experience just walking into that clubhouse.

Speaker 2 (01:36:21):
Willie Mays was on that team.

Speaker 9 (01:36:23):
Yeah, yeah, my goodness. I think McCovey might have been
on that team too. And I remember him because forbes
Field my rookie year, he hit a ball over the
four fifty seven signs at forbes Field had disrupted it.
I think I forced him on the Shenley Park golf course.
And I have a friend, a former friend, because of
the story. He told me that he believes, sincerely, it's

(01:36:46):
convinced that every Monday evening at ten o'clock in the
eastern sky. He can still see that ball McCovey hit
going around here.

Speaker 2 (01:36:56):
But I mean this was the culmination of the dream
for you. The year after going to complete games in
the World Series, including a complete Game seven to bring
a World Championship to Pittsburgh, and then following it up
with an All Star Game appearance the next year, And
this was a different time. And I know you said, like,
Bob Gibson wasn't exactly friendly with you during All Star

(01:37:18):
festivities because well, you still had a season to play.

Speaker 9 (01:37:23):
Well yeah, and also I don't know if it was
before or after, but that year he's pitching against us
in Saint Louis and first time up, Willie stars will
take some deep for a home run. I'm sitting on
the bench, and next time up he just drills Willie,
you know, because that's what he did. And so Danny

(01:37:43):
Murtoz turns to me and said, you know you're next.
You know what you gotta do. And I'm weighing barely
six foot at one hundred and seventy pounds. Bob Gibson
is like six two twenty and ripped, and so I've
got to go out and hit him to let him
let Willie know he's got his back. So I went

(01:38:05):
out there and I said, if he hits, if I
hit him and he puts a bat down and comes
to them, I'm running like a little girl. And I
hit him right in the ribs. I didn't throw it
at his head. It took me three pitches, but I
got him, and he put the bat down and went
to first base. We didn't have to get the umpires involved.
He know why I did it, you know. And but

(01:38:27):
you know, pitching against him and guys like Seaver and Fergie,
what a time it was in baseball. If you did
well in that environment, you really felt like you were
capable and qualified to compete at that level because there
was some talent hanging around and there wasn't free agency. Yeah,
there wasn't free agency yet, but so oh no. And

(01:38:51):
I won nineteen games and I buy a house in
the middle of the summer of seventy two and Upper
Saint Clair for forty nine grand. It was a hell
of a year.

Speaker 2 (01:39:02):
Well, uh, tonight the All Star Game in Philadelphia, and uh,
you know, we won't see Skiings pitching, but he seems to,
you know, he got those two wins. The last couple
of weeks here Steve, which is great, still seems like
there's it's he's not quite the Paul Skiings that we
were expecting this year.

Speaker 9 (01:39:21):
Well, you know, he burst onto the scene and immediately
set standards, incredible standards right among the grand base myself included.
So I don't know if you can maintain that the
whole time. I think he's gonna have one heck of
a major league career. You know, there there there are
patches where it's not dominating. Uh, and and maybe the

(01:39:41):
speed is down a little bit. But if I got
a ballgame to win, I'm gonna run him out there.
I'll tell you that right now. And uh, kind of
interesting because I don't know what the rotation is going
to be like after the after the break. But he
pitched Sunday, he could you know, his term might be
Friday again. Again. I never mind having him out when

(01:40:02):
they play the anthem. So we'll see what's going to
happen in Cleveland Friday night.

Speaker 2 (01:40:06):
What about just if you could listen, we'll leave it
on this. You know, the All Star Game and the
way that the players think about it now has obviously
changed quite a bit through the years. It doesn't have
the same aura that it used to that the honor
of the distinction seems to have faded a little bit.

(01:40:27):
And I know that certainly wasn't the case when you
were selected.

Speaker 9 (01:40:32):
Well, yeah, that's true. What so many if you got
a couple hours of day, there's so many games, so
many things about the game have changed. Right now, there's
a couple of things I like, but a lot of
things I'm not crazy about. But that's that's just a
carryover for when the purity of the game before free agency.

(01:40:52):
I'll kind of phrase it that way at seventy five
or six, when it was and I got out before
I didn't want that money. I got out.

Speaker 16 (01:41:00):
Well this smart Yeah yeah, sure, yeah.

Speaker 9 (01:41:04):
How's that going. I'm still working at eighty four, So yeah,
that's a whole different subject. But yeah, there was a
I remember even growing up. It was the National League
against American League, And when I was a rookie and
coming up, I said, nationally this counts for something. This
this uh maybe a little different mistique, maybe because players

(01:41:28):
move around so much, maybe because of free agency. I
don't know, but I kind of agree to I guess
a degree with you that it doesn't seem quite as much.
But you know the world has changed to so uh
you just go along with the flow. But uh, I

(01:41:48):
will never forget the honor of walking into that clubhouse
with that team and being part of that group that
represented the National League. And it was it was intent
we you know, we we're out there went. It wasn't
just an appearance for us back in the day. I
don't know how it is for these guys. I hope
it's the same, but it was more than an appearance
for us, And yeah, I'll never forget it.

Speaker 2 (01:42:11):
Steve Blast, the one and only. Yeah Blast, we love youbody.
Thanks for checking in with us this morning.

The world's attention will be on the world stage today
for World Cup Semi final number one between Spain and France.
James Coburn has had his suspicion confirmed regarding which team
he thinks has the potential to make a great escape
in advance.

Speaker 2 (01:43:08):
I am your guide, Spie, the Great Escape Jesus, who else?
Only you?

Speaker 12 (01:43:27):
The Konahas understandably are backing their adopt the nation, even
if it's Wednesday afternoon and not Saturday.

Speaker 11 (01:43:33):
Night week up for France, friends, Well, that explains everything.

Speaker 2 (01:43:44):
The only thing it doesn't explain is who's going to
win the game?

Speaker 12 (01:43:47):
Three o'clock at Jerry World Fred the New York Post.
I don't know if the New York Post knows more
about soccer than I do or less, but the New
York Post has declared that this is a final caliber matchup.

Speaker 2 (01:44:00):
Yeah, and that these are the two best teams. Well
that's mostly everyone was saying prior to the start of
the World Cup that these were the two best teams.

Speaker 12 (01:44:10):
Spain has won thirty six consecutive matches one more in
it ties Italy's all time record of thirty seven. The
New York Post also said this is going to be
quote a game of chess played at one hundred miles
an hour.

Speaker 2 (01:44:24):
Well, I think that that's the part of soccer that
most Americans have trouble with, is the chess part, because.

Speaker 12 (01:44:31):
We don't understand. We can diagram as sweet, but we
don't know right right. All we think these guys are
doing is kicking its sideways.

Speaker 2 (01:44:39):
But I mean, I've heard people who are pretty knowledgeable
about US men soccer saying that that, you know, just
the approach to it in general, just the way that
they we approached the game as opposed to Europeans. It
is a lack of that understanding of the game that
has been a hindrance.

Speaker 6 (01:44:55):
But I don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:44:56):
All the discourse about the development of US soccer and
the States after that loss, I thought really shone a
light or shined a light on just how messed up
it all is and how all of youth's sports across
the board I think has just gotten away from us,
but particularly soccer is a mess. We'll never be able
to compete if it's a pay to play situation.

Speaker 12 (01:45:17):
Well, I just think we have to decide we want
to compete, right, and we haven't done that yet, And
everything else is probably reflective of our lack of deciding
to compete. Now any other sport, if we want to
be the best, we can be the best.

Speaker 2 (01:45:30):
There was a.

Speaker 12 (01:45:30):
Time when we said we're going to the moon in
ten years and we were starting from ground. We had
no idea where the moon was, and they figured it
out because there was the motivation was there and they
figured it out and whila.

Speaker 2 (01:45:47):
I mean, we just we don't care about it enough.
That is odd. We just needed to get some German
scientists to teach us how to play soccer.

Speaker 12 (01:45:53):
Well, we'll try. We had an Argentine coach. I mean, yeah, Ray,
keep going through them until you find one that knows.

Speaker 2 (01:45:58):
What he's doing.

Speaker 6 (01:45:59):
And yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:46:00):
But when like Alexi Lallas is like, hey, if people
can make a lot of money in the development of
our soccer program, good, I say go ahead. And it's
like okay, Well, if that's more important, then you're going
to always lag behind.

Speaker 12 (01:46:13):
I don't know how help soccer works, but it can't
be that much more expensive than hockey at all. More
problem with hockey also, but we're the best in the
world at hockey. We figured it out. We develop gold
medal winning players. It took a long time. We can
do it if we want to do it. Yeah, because

(01:46:35):
we're Americans. But because we're Americans, we get to stress.

Speaker 2 (01:46:39):
Because we figured it out. Is it because well, yeah,
I guess it's because we figured it out.

Speaker 14 (01:46:45):
I think kids have to just play it as kids
and learn how to play it at a competitive level,
not with like, oh, we're going to sports camp and
we're paying five hundred dollars and everyone's It has to
be like they've been fighting it out in the street.

Speaker 2 (01:47:02):
Kids have and that's how they play. That's how we
got baseball, football, basketball, hockey. You know the kids in
Boston and Minnesota, now in Pittsburgh. You have to be
at that level.

Speaker 14 (01:47:13):
It can't be like all the rich kids go to
a camp and learn how to play and compete against
these kids from the barrio and the wood of France.
They're not going to beat them. The hood of France.
I don't know what the French word for ghetto is.
Do they have those Oh in France, Oh, they certainly do.
I don't know they had a hood in France.

Speaker 2 (01:47:35):
You think if is from like an upper middle class background. Oh,
I don't know. I figure there's always angles played to
get these guys eligible. I mean, was from like abject poverty.
Some of our guys didn't exactly grow up reading the
Constitution and saying the pledge of allegiance. I don't see
the correlation between what we're talking about socioeconomic upbringing.

Speaker 12 (01:47:58):
Well, I just I don't think all the players are
from all the countries they represent.

Speaker 2 (01:48:05):
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, no, that's definitely the case.
Yeah yeah, but.

Speaker 12 (01:48:09):
No, we just got you know, I mean, you need
eleven guys, I mean six kids that decide they're gonna
put our world soccer hopes on their shoulders and make
it happen.

Speaker 2 (01:48:18):
Yeah, but they have to be like real athletes.

Speaker 7 (01:48:21):
Not to say that the US soccer team, the World
Cup team wasn't the best. Yeah, you know what I
am saying that they're they're not the best athletes.

Speaker 14 (01:48:30):
You have to you need like eleven alan I how
about they came to have their mother for that thirty
eight year old defenders who like completely embarrassed themselves in
the game.

Speaker 2 (01:48:41):
They get knocked out in our Jari playing goal. Yeah,
sure that was. Yeah, you have that you're gonna lose. Yeah,
that's not that's not the system.

Speaker 16 (01:48:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:48:53):
I think there are people know so much more about
soccer than I do that I couldn't possibly have a
totally informed opinion on it. I can only give you
a broadbrush sort of like, here's what it looks like.
The eagle eyeview of this seems pretty easy to figure out.
But I think the major problem that we have is
just with youth sports in general. Every kid should play
a bunch of different sports, not one sport, and not
have to pay through the nose for it. And then

(01:49:14):
your parents have to go into you know, get a
loan to be able to afford your travel team expenses,
and then get hotel rooms every weekend, and then you
split up. One parent goes with this kid to this
baseball tournament, one kid goes one parent goes with another
kid to a volleyball tournament. Then they end up cheating
on you on each other, and there's infidelity and all
these like Ramata Inns in Indianapolis and Canton, and this

(01:49:35):
is the destruction of America. And if you vote for me,
you know, I went to a kid's house. There's a
lot of infidelity in that suf Oh, I'm sure tons.

Speaker 12 (01:49:43):
I went to a kid's hockey game last year. My
nephew lives in Columbus. His son was eight years old.
They were playing in ros Drever against a team from Charlotte. Yeah,
why what are they don't? Why why do they coming
from Columbus and Charlotte to play in suburban western PENNSYLVANYI

(01:50:05):
makes no sense to me.

Speaker 2 (01:50:07):
Possible point of that, I don't know. Maybe Sean Casey
you'll know when we talked to him after this commercial break.
Billy Gardell coming up in the nine o'clock hour as well,
But first, Mike Persuda.

Speaker 12 (01:50:17):

Speaker 15 (01:52:22):
Hey, what's up, guys?

Speaker 2 (01:52:23):
How you doing? Are you doing good?

Speaker 10 (01:52:25):
Man?

Speaker 2 (01:52:25):
Did you watch the Derby last night? I watch the
whole derby? Man, what a derby?

Speaker 15 (01:52:31):
Pretty awesome.

Speaker 11 (01:52:31):
Hum.

Speaker 2 (01:52:32):
I think that new rule, you know, getting rid of
the clock, was a good idea, no doubt about it.
And they made for a lot more drama to have
to be more selective with your swings. I love it.

Speaker 15 (01:52:42):
Yeah, and listen, you're always good as the pitch of
swinging out, whether you're in the game or in the
in the home run derby. So I think those I
think I think it was. I think it was better.
I like that the guys could watch the ball flight too.
You're not so rush to getting swings in right, and uh,
you know if you're taking a million swings in the
road too, that's like you're getting gas quickly. So I
thought I thought it was great.

Speaker 1 (01:53:01):
Man.

Speaker 15 (01:53:01):
I thought I thought the new format was awesome.

Speaker 2 (01:53:03):
Yeah, so with the All Star Game tonight, you know,
it's been a while since it mattered. Uh, and they
I think they overcorrected. They're like, we have to do
something to get people to care about the All Star
Game again. They're like, I know, let's make playoff implications
part of this. And that was way way too you know,
too much gravity attached to it. Is there anything they

(01:53:27):
could do besides money to make this a little more
of a competition or at this point is it like, well,
it's just so far past the point where you can
make people who make this much money and they are
assets for these organizations to put.

Speaker 6 (01:53:44):
Them at risk in any way.

Speaker 2 (01:53:45):
But to just do a little, you know, half ass
exhibition is just going to be probably foolish.

Speaker 15 (01:53:53):
Well, the first off, you're right, the playoff implications were
ridiculous because you play one hundred and sixty two games.
You're grinding to get through that you're one of the
best team in the game. They're like, oh, yeah, the
American League won the All Star Game. You know, I mean,
let's let's you know, so let's switch that to the world.
I thought that was a little little over the top.
I think the one thing about the base the All
Star Baseball game, I think it's so different. I think

(01:54:15):
it really is different than, you know, than any other game,
especially like obviously football is going to whatever flag football
and stuff, because those guys don't want to get hurt
and then you know they're just kind of like done
with the season all that stuff. But in baseball, I
really believe, like you know, when you're in those All
Star games, like you it really is you know, you're
really in there trying to win the game. You're you're

(01:54:35):
you're locked in. You're getting a few at bats. If
you're a starter, you're probably getting three at bats. Uh,
you know, the pitchers are coming in, they're throwing one
or two max effort innings, you know. So I think
I think there's something about the Mayor League Baseball All
Star Game. It really is a real game. You know,
it doesn't feel like all these guys are mailing it
in because in baseball you really can't mail it in,
Like you can't give it like a half an effort.

(01:54:57):
You know, you really got to like you really got
to like switch show up, slow down, you know, be
in the moment because it's you know, it's almost like golf.
You're you're, it's you, it's you, it's you versus you
and uh, you know that guy on the mount. So
I think it's I think it's the best All Star
game out there still. And you know, hey, listen, man,
if you can make a couple extra bucks. I thought
of that last night when Jordan Walker ended up winning

(01:55:18):
the winning the Derby. I mean, don't you get a
million bucks or you get something real money? Yeah, real
cash if you win it.

Speaker 2 (01:55:24):
So, uh, this year is it really Yeah? He's making
like eight hundred k.

Speaker 15 (01:55:32):
Yeah, he made more in the derby. He was like,
you know what, it came down to it. He's like,
please let me just get these balls out of here.
I need to make this million dollars, make a million bucks,
you know what I mean?

Speaker 2 (01:55:42):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (01:55:43):
You know, well you're you're a three time All Star.

Speaker 2 (01:55:45):
I believe By the way, I believe they make twenty
five thousand per man if they win tonight.

Speaker 6 (01:55:50):
That's the check they get every nice money.

Speaker 2 (01:55:54):
Yeah nice that that that pays for the jet ride
home for for some of them. I guess, uh you
you were three time All Star in ninety nine, two
thousand and one, two thousand and four. Famously, in ninety
nine you were jersey that you signed.

Speaker 9 (01:56:07):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:56:07):
I'm not sure if you talked about that last week
and he did not the Reds game. Yeah, but in
ninety nine you signed your own jersey thinking it was
a jersey that you were going to donate, and you
ended up having to wear it in the game, right, yeah,
Oh yeah, yeah.

Speaker 18 (01:56:26):
Yeah.

Speaker 15 (01:56:26):
We get there the first day and I'm like, I'm
twenty five years old. I can't even believe.

Speaker 16 (01:56:30):
I'm at the Ulcar game.

Speaker 15 (01:56:31):
I'm like, you know, literally, a couple of years earlier,
I was that I'm high school, Like, hey hey. A
couple of years later, I'm like, oh my god, I'm
an All Star. I'm at the All Star Game. I
got Mike Piazzita, my right, Vladimir Guerrero, I got Randy Johnson,
you know, two lockers down. I literally can't believe it.
So so Tommy the clubby comes in. He's all right, boys,

(01:56:53):
He's like listen. He's like, uh, your team's giving your
two jerseys. We need you to sign one for like
the Yockey Foundation or something or Major League Baseball, and
then the other one, you know, I'll put in your
locker on game day. So I'm like, oh, this is incredible.
I can't believe they want to want my signature. So
you know, I signed my jersey as big as you
can sign it as beautiful. I give it to Tommy.

(01:57:14):
Here you go, man, Hopefully this can get you ten
or twenty dollars, you know, with the auction is incredible.
So I know, I give it to him. Then we
have the workout and derby. Then the next day we
have VP and we're getting ready for the game, and
I go into my locker and grab my jersey, getting
dressed next to my piazza and I put my I
go to grab my jersey and it's it's the jersey
with a hugemongous signature on the back. So I go

(01:57:35):
over to I go over to Tommy like, hey Tommy, hey,
real real quick, bro. It's like you put the wrong
jersey in my locker. You gave me the jersey that
I signed, And he goes, oh, man, Casey does. I
don't know what to tell you.

Speaker 19 (01:57:45):
Man.

Speaker 15 (01:57:45):
He goes, I don't know if the Reds are hurting
with for funds or whatever. Mark Shaant suspended. I don't
know what's going on. But he's like, the Reds gave
you one jersey. I go. I'm like, so I have
to wear this in the game. I go, you go,
like to a sporting goods store to like, you know,
Dick's Sporting Goods. They have Dick Sporting You like, make
me a jersey or something. He's like, dude, I don't

(01:58:07):
know what to tell you. I'm like, oh my god.
So I'm the youngest guy. Obviously, I'm a rookie and
I feel like I'm being Hayese because I signed my
own jersey and I'm out there and I'm like, I'm like,
please don't let anyone see me, you know, and a
couple of guys and the dugout were saying.

Speaker 2 (01:58:20):
Hey, dude, you nice jersey. I'm like, oh, yeah, thanks.

Speaker 15 (01:58:23):
But anyway, I go on deck and like this I'm
hitting from McGuire in the seventh I go on deck
and I'm like, I remember on the on the on
the on the game that you know, Tim McCarver comes on.
He's like, come show on Casey. He's having a nice
first half blah blah blah. And they zoom in on
me and I'm like, you know, doing my thing, and
They're like, did he sign his jersey? So anyway, I

(01:58:49):
go down in his history only guy. I have to
be the only guy in Big leg history that ever
played the All Star Game with a fully signed jersey.

Speaker 2 (01:58:56):
I mean amazing though, So the the buck go's going
into the All Star break, dude, the offense the bats
have just exploded right now, and we were kind of
kicking around ways to keep this going. When you get
Cruise and you get Griffin back now that you can't
get you gotta keep Valdez in the lineup right, I mean,
O'Hearn has been on fire too, So what's the solution?

(01:59:20):
You got a deal Ozona or something? Right? I mean,
isn't it first off?

Speaker 15 (01:59:26):
Last year we're talking about the worst offensive baseball. This
year we're talking about did you need to trade somebody?

Speaker 2 (01:59:31):
But you have too much.

Speaker 15 (01:59:32):
Offense, you know, which is incredible and you're right, Valdez
needs to play every day like he cannot sit anymore.
This guy is the real deal. His power is real.
He can I mean, I just feel like you got
to give him every day at bats. He's not a
guy off the bench. You know, bam, he's he's made
his mark O'Hearn's been really good, you know, just the
way you know Branon Reynolds is having an all star

(01:59:53):
first half. You know, when Horwitz comes back and on
Neil Cruise, I mean, Donnie Kelly has a great problem
on his hands because that offense is electric and you
have so many different offense. But that's what great offenses do.
But if you look at the great offenses around the league,
they have four or five deep outfielders. You can mix
a match.

Speaker 1 (02:00:12):
Here.

Speaker 15 (02:00:12):
You have a guy lefty off the bench if you
need him. I don't know exactly what he's gonna do,
but but you're gonna have guys banged up at some
point too. But I really believe Randall that they are
about to make a run. I mean the fact that
they swept the Brewers, who are a really good team
obviously going into the break, and they really they really
took it to him. It wasn't like they really you know,

(02:00:33):
punched him in the mouth early and won all those games.
So and I think, you know the way Jared Jones
pitch going into the break, you know, Mitch Keller's gotta
be better than he's been. He's been in the first half.
I think Schemes had a nice start on the way.
So I really believe they're about to make a run
in the second half. And this is a really this
is a really good team we're looking at with a
lot of offense. But it's a great problem to have case.

Speaker 12 (02:00:56):
There's about eight teams in the National League in wild
card contention, I think, all within five and a half
six games of each other. You know, the three qualifiers
and the five contenders. What's the number that gets you
that third spot? Eighty four eighty five?

Speaker 15 (02:01:11):
I mean right now, you know, right now, it looks like,
you know, the way it's the way it's situated with
those guys block teams are like, you know, right in it.
But yeah, i'd say eighty three got the reds in
last year. You know, I'm thinking it's going to be
right there. Probably eighty five five wins is gonna get
you in and I'd be shocked if the Bucos aren't

(02:01:33):
aren't definitely at eighty five wins at the end. I
just really feel like this is a good team.

Speaker 2 (02:01:38):
Sean Casey the mayor. Tonight the All Star Game, hopefully
nobody will have repeated your your faux pae and we
won't see anybody with their John Hancock in blizing across
their UNI. You're a classic, buddy. Hey, what's going on
with the Casey's Clubhouse? What's the latest? Uh?

Speaker 10 (02:01:59):
There?

Speaker 15 (02:01:59):
We just had the greatest trip really quick, thanks for asking, Randy.
We had the greatest trip. We just went to Cincinnati
with our travel program and we met up with six states.
We met up Iowa, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio,
and we had a we had a six state tournament.
We called it the Miracle Series out in Cincinnati this

(02:02:20):
past weekend. It was truly truly incredible. So a bunch
of our you know, officely, our Casey's Clubhouse kids were
there with their parents and it was an amazing, amazing weekend.
So that was That's one of our big things on
the dock, and we have it going this summer. And
like I said, we're about to.

Speaker 16 (02:02:34):
Build a new field.

Speaker 15 (02:02:35):
Please, if you want to donate for us or help us,
get involved or get involved with us Casey's Clubhouse dot org.
You can help us out and help our athletes, you know,
get this second field that we we we really do need,
and then we appreciate anything anyone, anyone can do.

Speaker 2 (02:02:49):
You're the best case. Thanks so much, Sean Casey. This
morning here on DVA.

Speaker 10 (02:02:53):

Speaker 16 (02:03:31):
Just salt, pepper and some garlic salt, and then throw
them on a super hot grill. Close that hood for
about three and a half minutes. Flip that hood back up,
don't touch them. Flip them once. If you're flipping more
than once, you're a rookie. You flip them again. Close
that hood. Go another three and a half minutes, open

(02:03:52):
the hood, flip them again, drop the cheese on, close
it and let it wrap it like a blanket. And
they come out look and picture perfectly. That sounds delicious,
not that I've had some thought about that. And then
I come in. It doesn't matter what I cook. I've
been married twenty five years.

Speaker 2 (02:04:06):
Whatever.

Speaker 16 (02:04:06):
I walk in the door with a tray of meat
and food.

Speaker 2 (02:04:11):
My wife, Wilger, is that cooked.

Speaker 16 (02:04:13):
No one's ever been sick in a quarter of a century.
But that's it. And here's when you become a Jedi
in marriage, when you look at her and.

Speaker 2 (02:04:20):
Go it is. You keep moving just the way.

Speaker 16 (02:04:24):
No shots fire, no shots fire, no shot estellation nice.
There's gonna be no trouble out of me. Don't cheat.

Speaker 1 (02:04:33):
Randy Bellman and the DVE Morning Show Bill.

Speaker 2 (02:04:36):
Greydell scheduled to join us this hour here on DVE.
We're waiting for him to get connected. Abby. He's got
a news update before we got Joe Bartnick in studio
as well, along with Tad Whistle and myself here on
one O t point five DVE.

Speaker 5 (02:04:49):
New's This hour brought to you by Better Call Sy
mostly sunny, very hot today. Caution adviser, you're gonna be
outside for extended periods of time.

Speaker 4 (02:04:57):
It is a high of ninety seven.

Speaker 5 (02:04:58):
And actually jumping off of that topic with grilling, July
is National Grilling Month, which makes sense since it's Midsummer.
There are surely diehards who have no problem tossing on
a jacket and had to stand by the grill in
mid January. But according to a new report, the average
American enjoys thirteen grill days per year. Eighty four percent

(02:05:19):
of Americans say that they would grill if they had
more opportunities, but forty nine percent say that they are
not comfortable at the grill. Top fears include dropping meat
through the grates, fear, top fears.

Speaker 8 (02:05:33):
Top fears turning, running out of propane, and you know,
making having something to be raw when you serve it.

Speaker 7 (02:05:42):
My brother in law ran out of propane recently and
his dad was there and it was a kid's birthday party.
He fired up the grill, he gets the you know,
it's going for a little bit, and he gets the
burghers on there, and then the propane dies immediately and
his dad, just the rest of the party just rode him,
so are like, Kevin, I'm telling you what. You gotta

(02:06:03):
have pro paye right. I know you always gotta have
the backup. You gotta have a backup tank. Kevin, I mean, oh,
what are you doing? I always have a backup. You
gotta have a backup y.

Speaker 2 (02:06:13):
There's no there's nothing like being in the middle of
grilling something and the gas goes out because you don't
want to have to take it in into the broiler
or anything like that. Like you gotta be able to
do the quick switch and then take that one down,
get it, get your back up refilled. Always have the
backup propane.

Speaker 6 (02:06:30):
These burgers were finished at the neighbor's house.

Speaker 14 (02:06:33):
Brutal I ran out this weekend, but no harm, no foul,
no meat was on yet.

Speaker 2 (02:06:38):
Yeah, I'm like, oh, you're fine.

Speaker 4 (02:06:41):
People did rank the biggest grilling sins.

Speaker 5 (02:06:44):
The top five included uh, number one, touching another person's
grill without permission.

Speaker 2 (02:06:49):
Yes. Hey, By the way, we have Billy Gardell joining
us now live from Los Angeles.

Speaker 6 (02:06:53):
Billy William, good morning.

Speaker 16 (02:06:55):
Hi, good morning, Causes. I came in mid stream here.
We had a little trouble connected not here. The Santa
Annas are blown but U yeah, please continue. Yeah, you're
an embarrassment if you don't have extra pro paine. Yes,
you're an embarrassment. Right, you're not a grown man.

Speaker 22 (02:07:12):
You know.

Speaker 16 (02:07:12):
You start a cookout with half a tank of pro paine,
you are not a grown man, period.

Speaker 2 (02:07:17):
And the discussion full stop. Okay, but the next thing
you were saying abby.

Speaker 16 (02:07:21):
Although Randy did say. Randy did say, the emergency procedure,
if you do roun low the broiler is your saving.

Speaker 6 (02:07:29):
Yeah, you got taken the broiler. But nobody wants to
do that.

Speaker 16 (02:07:32):
Smoke up the kitchen.

Speaker 2 (02:07:33):
No one wants, hey, Bill, are you doing?

Speaker 16 (02:07:36):
Hey Joe, good buddy.

Speaker 2 (02:07:38):
I just always say to it.

Speaker 14 (02:07:39):
Never never speak about a man's grill, like, let if
it's his grill, you let him man his grill. I
don't you never step in unless ask upon right you can.

Speaker 16 (02:07:52):
Yeah, that's another perfect ruling, Joe. You can gather around
the grill. Do not criticize the man's grill. Do not
suggest what he should be going. We're all married. You
don't need to do that. That's you don't have to
worry about that. I already have a supervisor buzz in
the tower.

Speaker 2 (02:08:08):
Every twenty.

Speaker 4 (02:08:11):
Another grilling.

Speaker 5 (02:08:12):
Sin that came up was not allowing the meat to
rest before you serve it.

Speaker 2 (02:08:17):
How many times have I said to you, you get
to meet rest, Abby, Open that's.

Speaker 16 (02:08:23):
A T shirt, Abbey, that's a T shirt out there.

Speaker 2 (02:08:26):
Let everything that sound like.

Speaker 4 (02:08:30):
I'm just tired and the world would be.

Speaker 16 (02:08:33):
A better place if we all wore let the meat
rest shirts.

Speaker 4 (02:08:40):
Opening the lid unnecessarily.

Speaker 2 (02:08:43):
Yeah, people do that with the oven too, but you
get it.

Speaker 16 (02:08:46):
If you're looking, you're not cooking, man. It depends on
what you're working with too. Now see, I got a
smoker and a grill. So the smoker you cracked that,
I'll come apart like my father in nineteen seventy seven.
You don't touch that. We've got convection cooking going, and
you are going to disturb the rhythm and the frequency.
You might have to crack under that propanegirl, just to

(02:09:08):
make sure flames aren't, you know, licking everything to point
where it's charred. Well, I like too much charge. That's lazy.
It's a lazy excuse for saying it's cajun.

Speaker 2 (02:09:16):
My brother, who is an expert griller, does what I
think is the most rube move when he grills. What
is he'll two points for using d cut into it
to see how far it's gone. Like he'll sacrifice one
of the steaks or burgers just to see how it's cooking.
And I'm like, you gotta trust your process, man. Yeah,

(02:09:39):
no one of your guests just gets an injured steak.

Speaker 16 (02:09:42):
That's no good. Yeah, he's toy.

Speaker 2 (02:09:45):
I think he has a I think that's his test steak,
you know what I mean?

Speaker 16 (02:09:49):
Or burger. You know he's he's paranoid of it. You
gotta get your timing down for all your different meats.
I know I.

Speaker 2 (02:09:58):
Got burgers and steaks down. I I know that. I
know that differs between fil A's and a strip and
a burger and chicken. I you all of those pork.
I'm on pork because I don't eat that much pork.

Speaker 16 (02:10:08):
I take my time, my time, and I have Joey
O'Connell from Penhill's come over with a starting gun and
a stopwatch. We've got a good system. Just times out perfectly.

Speaker 14 (02:10:19):
What do you think of the guys that put the
thermometer in. A buddy of mine did that the last week,
and I'm like, that's like, you know, that's like using
it as steroids.

Speaker 2 (02:10:28):
I don't know, that's just either.

Speaker 16 (02:10:29):
Training wheels, Joe. I just go by field training wheel's body.

Speaker 2 (02:10:33):
That's it.

Speaker 16 (02:10:34):
You got a feeling, look and expertise and experience. That's
what's gonna get you downe.

Speaker 2 (02:10:38):
There you go.

Speaker 5 (02:10:39):
Grill We kind of covered the fourth one, which was
backseat grilling, just hanging out in the background. Plenty of
opinions on what the grillers should be doing. So that
is a major foul.

Speaker 16 (02:10:50):
Let me tell you, by the way, for any of
you to do that, any grown men to do that,
by the way, the minute you walk away, the other
three guys go. Who invited him?

Speaker 2 (02:11:00):
Well, So I had dinner with two friends Saturday night
to watch the World Cup game. Uh, and we were
grilling out and it was it was at my crib.
So I'm like, all right, well, look here's what we're
working with tonight. Got a couple of steaks. There's a
piece of the Copper River salmon. Then it was in
the freezer. I'm gonna do that too, And they're like

(02:11:22):
all right, yeah, yeah, man, do it up. And I
was like, I'm just telling you right now because there
they have both worked in restaurants, one owns a restaurant currently,
I'm like, if you guys are gonna bitch about how
I'm doing this, just do it because I don't care.
I'm not trying to be like this. I'm this is
how I do it, you know, and my way's best.
I'm here to learn. If you want to tell you no, no, no,

(02:11:44):
you're fine. And those bastards the entire time, what are
you doing? What are you doing? I'm like, we need
one am I doing?

Speaker 6 (02:11:53):
We closed the lid on the steaks.

Speaker 2 (02:11:55):
I'm like, I closed the lid on the stakes because
I know these are small, full and I wanted to
be a medium rare all the way top to bottom.

Speaker 6 (02:12:01):
I don't like it to have the fleshy middle.

Speaker 2 (02:12:03):
I like to have that nice, you know, red top
to bottom and if you convection it real quick, it'll
do that. And they're like, oh, well, you're you're baking
a steak. You're baking a steak. Don't you just eat
the salmon?

Speaker 9 (02:12:17):
Then?

Speaker 16 (02:12:19):
Well you already or go home home, you can go
home now.

Speaker 2 (02:12:23):
They're like, whatever, man, it's your deal. It's your deal now.

Speaker 15 (02:12:26):
Dan.

Speaker 16 (02:12:27):
My dad's answer for that was my dad's answer for
anything you criticized him about when you were over for
any event, you said anything. He's like, well you could leave.

Speaker 2 (02:12:35):
Yeah.

Speaker 21 (02:12:38):
No.

Speaker 2 (02:12:38):
But then they are complimentary. They're like fine, and I did.
I totally fed up the one strip we had, you know,
And they're like, no, it's fine, that's good. And I'm like,
I hate you guys because I know it's not fine.
And you guys are just completely patronizing me right now.
They're like, no, no, no, it's good. My body's good.

Speaker 6 (02:12:57):
Oh I'm like.

Speaker 2 (02:13:01):
Patronizing is the word raw high? Yeah, no, it's good.
It's sucking.

Speaker 16 (02:13:09):
Well, you have to practice. Is sloughing it off? You
gotta let it roll off you too, everybody. But I've
been trained for twenty five years. I mean I told
you every Thanksgiving I smoked two turkeys for four and
a half hours, and and every single time, when it's
right before we're about to bring it in and match

(02:13:30):
it up with all the sides, I will walk in
with a giant turkey, perfectly smoke, perfectly carved, and Patty
will go is that cooked? No, honey, I'm gonna kill
all of us. I've been doing this twenty five. I'm
twenty five and oh but This is the one that's
not that. This is the one here perfectly brown, Martha Stewart, Turkey,

(02:13:51):
I'm walking to you, in front of you. But that's
the one that's gonna salmonell les where I'm sinking the
whole ship Thanksgiving.

Speaker 2 (02:13:56):
I never understand how there is an thermometer in the
turkey that pops like. It just feels to me like
that's not a safe thing.

Speaker 16 (02:14:04):
Who does that? Does that? Jenny O?

Speaker 2 (02:14:06):
Or butter Ball? Butter Ball?

Speaker 1 (02:14:09):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (02:14:09):
Well, do we have mercury in the turkey? Is that?

Speaker 21 (02:14:12):
Is that?

Speaker 16 (02:14:12):
What's happening in there? Listen, listen, it's all in there.
They're killing all of us. Everything's bad, everything's poison.

Speaker 2 (02:14:18):
Just enjoying now eating. All I'm eating is turkey now, turkey, chicken,
no veggies, no fruit until this diarrhea.

Speaker 6 (02:14:27):
You know, epidemic is done.

Speaker 16 (02:14:30):
Because if we're now at a place in the world
where chocolate is safer than raspberries, that's fantastic. That's where
we're almost done here. I've been telling the kids on stage,
the younger ones that are coming to my show, and
now I go, Hey, the world's ending, Lean into it,
Lean into it. Get a job swipe what you can
have some fun on the weekends and just lean in.

(02:14:52):
Don't let them steal another day And tell us is
that the show's over, and people go, well, how do
you know the world's ending? I said, well, I've been
on TV a long time and I could spot a
series finale. When I see, I can share a comment.
We're wrapping up here.

Speaker 2 (02:15:10):
I saw. Hilariously, it's like it's a thousand degrees. Economic
inequality is more sparse than ever before. There's deadly epidemics
happening every other month. Water, but at least no black
scientists are being recognized in the Smithsonian.

Speaker 6 (02:15:25):
We can say the r work, so it's all worth Yeah.

Speaker 16 (02:15:29):
Yeah, we fought for all the right things. Congratulations everybody, Yay,
it's watched the world burn.

Speaker 2 (02:15:34):
I just want yeah, I just the amount of Here's
what I'm afraid of is if the poop epidemic, if
this this parasite, the cyclospora really takes off the way
that it seems like it already has begun. That like
people are gonna start tiktoking their adventures with cyclospora, as
if they're all doing their own dumb.

Speaker 16 (02:15:54):
Jet bridges and commers.

Speaker 2 (02:15:58):
It's gonna be like a lot of people sitting there like, I.

Speaker 3 (02:16:00):
Don't think you guys realize how bad this is. I'm
doing this as a public service announcement. And then there's
just like cats, you know, it sounds like whales.

Speaker 16 (02:16:15):
And then and then eventually one comic will get into
that and make it his whole act.

Speaker 2 (02:16:20):
You know, it'll be that guy.

Speaker 16 (02:16:22):
I know what, So how do you say that? How
do you say that?

Speaker 6 (02:16:25):
How do you say?

Speaker 16 (02:16:28):
Welcome cyclospora, everybody, the whole chef? Yeah, TikTok, sensation selling out, pitterina.
I got that spiral gyra parasite. What was the thing
is kids were used to use where you put the
circle in the circle and you put the pen in
it and grind it around. What was that?

Speaker 6 (02:16:49):
Spirography? Nice work.

Speaker 16 (02:16:52):
If I had a memory, I could have remembered. Yes,
spirograph that's what I'm going out as from now on.
Please welcome spirograph. That's where we're heading.

Speaker 2 (02:17:00):
It's gonna be fine. That's it. I'm not worried about it.

Speaker 16 (02:17:02):
Good times ahead, fellas, good times ahead. Just have a cookout.

Speaker 2 (02:17:08):
We're fine. Yeah, but you're so you've got the smoker.
The smokers are tough. Here's the only thing about the
smoker that I don't like is people will smoke ribs
and I don't think ribs should be smoked. All you're wrong, okay, wrong,
Well I like them sloppy.

Speaker 6 (02:17:23):
I like them sloppy.

Speaker 16 (02:17:24):
No, no, well that's all about cook time. Six hours.
You could yank the bone, right, they won't. You can't
even transfer them to the plate without the bone falling
out after six hours of smoking.

Speaker 2 (02:17:33):
It's unbelievable, Okay, because every time I have smoker, they're like,
they taaste good, but they're not falling apart, and they're
not I like sauce. They're always driver.

Speaker 16 (02:17:41):
Will you come out here again? I will fix that
for you and then you'll go. I used to hate
smoke ribs, but the nas a guardells. I'm a believer.
I'll take a believer. Now take you upon, all right.

Speaker 5 (02:17:54):
Picklesburg returns for it's eleventh year starting on Thursday, and
local businesses are real out pickle flavored food and drinks
to celebrate, so Eaton Park announce the return of its
limited edition Pickle Smiley Cookies on Monday.

Speaker 16 (02:18:08):
You gotta Pittsburgh that up a little bit pickle.

Speaker 8 (02:18:11):
All right, hold on the return of its limited edition
pickle Smiley Cookie Girl.

Speaker 5 (02:18:20):
It's a spin on the restaurant You got a pickle,
I got pickle and cooky in there. It's a spin
on the restaurant's classic Smiley Cookie. The pickled version features
green pickle flavored icing and Smiley's signature grin.

Speaker 16 (02:18:37):
But you can get that every time I come home.
Every time I come home, I make at least one
trip to Eaton Park and uh oh, by the way,
I will be home. I'm coming in. Uh like end
of July and August first or second? No, I think
it's August second. Is that Saturday? Me and Lou from
Mike and Molly Vnce. Lou is actually a legit bartender,

(02:19:01):
like he's in New York Bartending Hall of Fame and
that was what he did for as an actor.

Speaker 2 (02:19:06):
So it's Roccos August versus a Saturday. August second is.

Speaker 16 (02:19:10):
Saday for fiction that because I'm crazy. August first at
Roccos from one to five, Lou will be guest bartending
and I will be bar back and so come down
and see us at Rocos and Swiss fell Shaturday.

Speaker 2 (02:19:21):
Are you going to come and do our Jerry Garcia.
I want to talk to you about all Jerry Garcia
about it.

Speaker 16 (02:19:33):
Yeah, and I will call you today about it. I
think wonder five. Our shift is one to five ran,
so that show starts later.

Speaker 20 (02:19:42):
Now.

Speaker 16 (02:19:42):
I think we can make.

Speaker 2 (02:19:43):
I think he should jump up on stage and sing
a dead tune.

Speaker 16 (02:19:48):
I will call you to I'll call you. Let's figure
this out.

Speaker 9 (02:19:56):
There.

Speaker 2 (02:19:56):
You go, all right?

Speaker 4 (02:19:58):
It is high today with a high of ninety hot.

Speaker 16 (02:20:02):
Hot, pickle hot, Can you eat padra?

Speaker 6 (02:20:07):
What if it's a pickle with the parasite?

Speaker 4 (02:20:10):
Parasite?

Speaker 9 (02:20:10):
Yeah?

Speaker 16 (02:20:11):
No, No, I think you're all right with the pickles.
I think I read it was the berries. Is the trouble?
Pre made salad, No chance of that happening, pre made
veggie trade, no chance of that happening. I think I'm good.
I'm gonna let this blow over.

Speaker 2 (02:20:26):

Fridgeville this morning and Mike pursuit it with your Sports

Speaker 12 (02:22:04):
What's Up Sports is all brought to you by Bridgeville Appliants.
They're down to the final four in the World Cup.
Semi final number one today at three o'clock from Jerry
World France against Spain. That'll be followed by tomorrow's second
semi final, England and Argentina. The two winners we'll meet
Sunday at MetLife Stadium in the Swampsa, Jersey to decide

(02:22:27):
this year's World Cup champion.

Speaker 2 (02:22:29):
It's interesting the way.

Speaker 12 (02:22:30):
This has played out. I heard some analogies at the
start of the tournament to the NCAA basketball tournament. You
get some fireworks in the early rounds and some upsets happened,
but usually as the thing continues, the cream rises to
the top. And here we are at the final four.
Today's matchup France against Spain. France is the number three

(02:22:52):
rated team according to FIFA, Spain's number two. Tomorrow England's
number four against Argentina number one. So basically the four
number one seeds have advanced out of the regions to
the final four, and that's exciting. It was kind of
by design. This is the first year that FIFA designed

(02:23:15):
its draw to prevent the four highest ranked teams from
meeting before the semi finals. Yeah, so you know you
don't want to see Duke play Gonzaga in around to sixteen, right,
you want that in the final four?

Speaker 2 (02:23:29):
Well, speaking of that, they are going to increase the
size of the field for the next World cop to
sixty four. They're like, all nations should get a chance,
and it's like, all right, well, let's see how this goes,
because I think there's gonna be some thumping going on
in those early rounds. There was nations in this one
I never heard of, and you're Ordain like four times.

Speaker 12 (02:23:59):
Tabo to our previous point opened the tournament. Cap isn't Cabo.

Speaker 6 (02:24:05):
Cabo, is it?

Speaker 2 (02:24:06):
I thought it was Cape Forday, I think it's Cape
like Cape like geographic. I thought it was Cabo like
Cape of Horn. Yeah, I don't care. Let's get that
out there. Well, look for a guy who likes it's cape.
But whoever they are.

Speaker 12 (02:24:19):
They started out zero zero against Spain, which was unthinkable
first game, but Spain has won every game since five
ozho to one, and Spain has allowed one goal in
this tournament that was in its most recent game, the
two to one quarterfinal win over Belgium. France has only
allowed two goals. The French are six and zero and

(02:24:41):
they have five of their six wins by two or
more goals. So I guess in soccer two or more goals,
that's like ten running somebody in softball, right, That's that's
a blowout. It should be fun.

Speaker 16 (02:24:54):
I'm rooting for I'm rooting for Spain. One of my
neighbors is French and I can't stand him. So let's
go Spain.

Speaker 2 (02:25:04):
I'm rooting for France. Why because Vegas dictated.

Speaker 16 (02:25:10):
That I do so, Zah, I see where your loyalty is.

Speaker 12 (02:25:13):
I got I got the French at plus money to
win the whole thing at the start of the quarterfinals.

Speaker 16 (02:25:19):
And what do we got on the other side with
Argentina and England.

Speaker 2 (02:25:23):
Having like Bill got to play one game at a time.
Let's not get over it. We were talking today.

Speaker 12 (02:25:34):
I'm still not a soccer fan, but I'm a fan
of this tournament and the drama and the excitement and
the passion.

Speaker 2 (02:25:41):
And the history and all that. So it's it's pretty cool.
I'll get my fix.

Speaker 16 (02:25:45):
You know what's really been cool about this tournament is
all the people from other countries posting about how much
they've enjoyed being over in America and how what they
perceived we were.

Speaker 2 (02:25:56):
Doing over here for the Scion was.

Speaker 16 (02:25:59):
Not that way. Yeah they were, And that's been joyous
to see. That's been really cool. And the fact that
the Scots drank Boston out of beer maybe my favorite.
That's my favorite, but beyond.

Speaker 12 (02:26:13):
Beyond St Patrick, Stay in Boston levels of drinking, it's unbelievable.
Gotta respect that, right absolutely. I have heard people saying
nice things about Philly. I guess they weren't there.

Speaker 6 (02:26:27):
They weren't there long enough.

Speaker 16 (02:26:29):
Yeah, that's that you were. You were there one day short,
one day short.

Speaker 2 (02:26:34):
Just sitting get on the Broad Street subway line.

Speaker 16 (02:26:37):
We're having a great time until we ran into the Mummers.

Speaker 2 (02:26:41):
But Philly is a great town. It's just it is
a harsh group of people. All yeah, I mean, it's awesome,
it's an awesome it is a great town. It's amazing,
it's a great.

Speaker 16 (02:26:50):
Time, but it's brutal and yeah, you know, I don't
know if you've had this experience in Philly, but I
find them to be some of the most they're just
abrasive before you even get to the stage. I have
never had fun in Philly as a stand up.

Speaker 14 (02:27:09):
I've had a lot of fun in Philly. They actually
I love the comedy fans that I've always had a
great time. I like everybody there but the flyer fans.
But they'll tell you what's really tough about them is
the women in Philly are just bad. Yeah, but they
all think they all think they're like Brooklyn eights, and
they're like.

Speaker 2 (02:27:33):
And they got these attitudes like you, you can't talk
to me like this. You're not enough to talk to you.

Speaker 16 (02:27:41):
Your security badge, you're level three.

Speaker 2 (02:27:44):
My mom's family is from Philadelphia.

Speaker 23 (02:27:46):
It's mad.

Speaker 16 (02:27:47):
That whole city is mad. It's not Manhattan. That's really
what this.

Speaker 2 (02:27:54):
Chicago is known as. Yeah, Chicago is the second city,
but it's really Philadelphia.

Speaker 14 (02:28:00):
Well, Philly kind of has most of the like they have,
like all the problems that New York has, but not
all the great stuff.

Speaker 2 (02:28:09):
That's the right.

Speaker 16 (02:28:11):
That's a great description. That's a great description of Philly.

Speaker 2 (02:28:15):
But I do have a blast. I love eating in
Philly is fantastic. Always have a good time in Philadelphia. Yes, ye,
great town. Important town, beautiful town. Sports fans are crazy.
That's like my only take. Sports fans are absolutely nuts.
I have been in fights that I did not even
try to be in, just going to a Phillies game
and making a comment to a friend. Someone overhears it

(02:28:35):
and goes, why the hell would you do that?

Speaker 9 (02:28:37):
You know, like.

Speaker 2 (02:28:40):
I mean I remember seriously being in a Phillies game
and somebody's walking down the aisle when it's like full count,
you know, guy on second two outs, and I'm like,
how can you just walk down the you know, the
stairs right now during this How can you not have
that a situational awareness?

Speaker 6 (02:28:57):
And someone overheard me, and this lady's like.

Speaker 2 (02:29:00):
What do you want to do?

Speaker 15 (02:29:01):
Just stand there all day?

Speaker 2 (02:29:02):
And I'm like, we'll wait till the pitches, you know,
like a normal person. And she's like, well what if
they got to get down to their people? And I'm like,
why are we fighting? I don't even know you because
we're in Philly. Yes exactly. But just to get back
to Billy's point, though, I I the comedy fans I
always find are great there. Bill Burr's legendary, but that's

(02:29:27):
that's over. Anthony fans though, too, those are a whole
nother breed of that is true.

Speaker 16 (02:29:35):
Species.

Speaker 12 (02:29:38):
Jordan Walker. The Cardinals won the home run derby last
night in Philly. I heard it was a hell of
a time. I didn't watch it.

Speaker 2 (02:29:45):
I tried, Man, I tried. I watched the highlights this morning.
It was a lot easier to do because that that
broadcast was terrible last night. One of the.

Speaker 12 (02:29:51):
Reasons why I didn't watch it is Jordan Alvarez, James
Wood Hunter, Goodman Byron Buxton, Matt Olson, Colin Montgomery, and
show Hey Otane for one reason or another did not participate.

Speaker 2 (02:30:04):
Those are seven of your top twelve home run hitters.

Speaker 16 (02:30:09):
The only thing saving my sanity these days is sports.
It's the only place my brain literally shuts off. I'll
watch anything at this point. If they have an axe
chopping contest, I'm in any I don't care. Guys climbing trees.
I'll bet on the guy in red shorts. I don't care.
I just need sports to take me away from I
need Colgon from sports every three hours.

Speaker 2 (02:30:30):
Well a noon cake. I watch Time today.

Speaker 7 (02:30:32):
Man.

Speaker 2 (02:30:32):
France, and.

Speaker 12 (02:30:38):
No offense to your rooting against your neighbor, but I'm
back into.

Speaker 16 (02:30:42):
French well, I'll clap quietly under the table for you
if you win.

Speaker 12 (02:30:46):
Add that to the list of things I never thought
I would say out loud. I can't believe you're rooting
for France.

Speaker 2 (02:30:52):
What's next. I'm gonna root for Canada and hockey probably,
I don't know. That may never come to that, That
will never All right, let's do it quick, quick break,
and we'll see if we can come out even more ethnocentric.
After this commercial break, here more with Billy Gardell on
the DV Morning Show Full Disclosure.

Speaker 10 (02:31:12):
We're buying your loyalty with the only currency we have, musage.
Chad Tyson kicks off his show every weekday at three
with a commercial free rock block. Yeah, we sell a
little less, but rock a little more with Tyson afternoons
on dv E, We're the average show.

Speaker 6 (02:31:33):
Prove CG.

Speaker 2 (02:31:36):
Show Brandy Doamin along with Billy Gardell live in Los Angeles, California,
Mike pursueda Abby Prisoner, Ted Whistle, and Joe Bartnick all
here this one, hush. It is a full house. It's
the slowest week of the year, which makes this is Yes,

(02:31:56):
this is the slowest week of the year. There is
you know there's no sports, but we do have the
World Cup to kind of save us because it's the
All Star Game and most people are on either you know,
vacation or coming off vacation. There's just not a whole
lot happening right now, which can sometimes make it hard
to come up with things that talk about Bill.

Speaker 16 (02:32:17):
Yeah, cause we're growing up the string. It's growing up string.
But one guy.

Speaker 2 (02:32:23):
People know that on August first, you're gonna be coming
back to go to Rocos and tell us what switch.

Speaker 16 (02:32:29):
Well, we're coming back. It's the eightieth anniversary of that
Corner Bar, which is just amazing to me. It's an
institution and everybody in there should be institutionalized. So I'm
looking forward to being back in my neighborhood. And like
I said, it's gonna be a lot of kick man
and lou is going to bartend and abuse me while
I bar back for him and uh, and we're just

(02:32:50):
gonna be in there slinging drinks from one to five.
So I think it's gonna be a fun time and
it'd be nice to be in the neighborhood.

Speaker 2 (02:32:56):
And yeah, Looma Larvin Stillo, who was on Mike and
Mollie and he was the uh he was the landscaper
on the Sopranos.

Speaker 16 (02:33:05):
And the Sopranos and then he was forgot what guy
he was on Seinfeld, but him and Rondey both had
popular Seinfeld episodes. Rondi of course played my Mom on
Mike and Bali and uh yeah man. And he always
he really last time he was there, he dug the
music scene because you took him and his wife around
that one night. He always talks about that. He really
loved her because he's a music head man and he

(02:33:27):
really was impressed by Pittsburgh's local music scene.

Speaker 2 (02:33:30):
Oh yeah, he took him that night.

Speaker 16 (02:33:32):
He was blown away by the local musicians. Blown away,
he always talks about. He's like, I couldn't believe it.

Speaker 15 (02:33:37):
I thought, I'm in Pittsburgh.

Speaker 16 (02:33:39):
How's it gonna go?

Speaker 15 (02:33:40):
Oh my god?

Speaker 4 (02:33:41):
They were great, great.

Speaker 2 (02:33:42):
He were so funny in the in the Sopranos but
all right, so Rockos, like now, the that was like
your dad's hangout. So like my dad and allma just
hung out called May's Tavern, and it made a tavern.
They had peanut night was Thursday night and there's free
peanuts and so we would go because it'd be peanut

(02:34:03):
at night, and we'd get a burger and he'd give
us you know, hey, he's made peanuts. You want to
have a cheeseburger while your dad and your uncles get
sauced at the bar. Right, And so that became the
proper childhood brand. Yes, you'd be done, and then you
get quarters, go play the pinball machine, go play pool
like you know, until it got you know, ce d
at a certain time, and then they'd us shuffle board

(02:34:24):
because yeah, but and then like you go to the bathroom,
be like, dad, this gum tastes funny. Where'd you get it?
I'm the machine and it's not gun. Do you remember
just spending hours inside of Rocos with your old man?

Speaker 16 (02:34:41):
Oh my, oh my god. Yes, I mean we would
we get picked me up on Sunday after my parents
got divorced, and we just got down the street to
Roccos and I'd have a gingerrell and some pretzels while
he had a few libations and watched the.

Speaker 2 (02:34:56):
Steelers the game. Yeah.

Speaker 16 (02:34:57):
Just I just grew up in that bar and I
love it. Because the right of passage at Rakas was
you had to be thrown out by Aggie the owner.
If he threw you out, then now you were legit.
You had to be thrown out and suspended for at
least two weeks, and that he always put a two
week suspension on you if you were acting up at
the bar. Nope, you're out for two weeks. But Aggie,

(02:35:18):
you remember this guy Ogg's in his seventies, and he's
still got a grip that if he grabs your shoulder
you're leaving. It's like worse than Spock. He grabbed as
you're gone, you're gone, You're walking to the door. That's it.

Speaker 1 (02:35:33):
Bill.

Speaker 12 (02:35:34):
Do you remember when you made your I'm thrown out
of her bones the first time.

Speaker 16 (02:35:39):
I was twenty two, Yeah, twenty two, and I got
the I got the paralyzing shoulder grip. And apparently I
was a little too loud and not as funny as
I thought, and I was asked apparently three or four times,
which I was unaware of. But on the fourth one
I was showing the door. Absolutely got my stripes.

Speaker 2 (02:36:00):
But so I kind of grew up in bars, and
I like not entirely, but like I started, you know,
playing in bands in bars when I was very young,
and we spent so much time in the bar with
my with my dad. Frankly in my family, but my family,
he was like the whole family was there and we
were in bars. And I think that there's something really

(02:36:23):
beneficial to developing social graces at a young age by
hanging out in bars, because the social dynamic in a
bar runs the gamut of just about every interaction that
you're going to encounter in every aspect of life. In

(02:36:45):
a little microcosm that has a bar and some barstools, TVs,
a jukebox and pinball teaches.

Speaker 16 (02:36:53):
You how to be out in a bot and it
teaches you how to not act like a lunatic. And
the most dangerous thing about a corner bars. If you
do act out of line, they're not calling the cops.
They're calling your dad, and that's worse. I would rather
go to jail for a night than have them call
my father and say I embarrassed him down at the bar,

(02:37:13):
because that was it. That was I didn't want to
go home. When you you get in trouble at the bar,
they call your dad, your kids down here acting like
a total jag.

Speaker 6 (02:37:23):
Yeah, yeah, I've got called for my brother.

Speaker 2 (02:37:28):
Before he.

Speaker 4 (02:37:31):
Done here and get him, he's a jag.

Speaker 2 (02:37:34):
But when you stop drinking, I mean, I remember the
days when you were still, you know, betting the album.
But when you stopped drinking, was there any part of
you that you like, you'd want to go have lunch
in a bar just to kind of feel that vibe?
Or was that too much of a temptation?

Speaker 16 (02:37:48):
No, when I when I was, it wasn't a temptation
Because I got sober on the Jamison Whiskey tour. So
you're going to get sober you want to test a fire.
That's like Lord of the Rings.

Speaker 6 (02:37:59):
Wasn't that like you gracious and burn?

Speaker 16 (02:38:03):
It was the original four was me, Danny Bevans, Steve Brne,
and Nick Griffin. And in the following year they brought
in Burt Kreischer, Pete core Ally. I mean that was
a drinking crew, make no mistake. And uh and and
then I just it was time for me to stop.
And uh and I had to just I had to go.
I had to run out of the bar in those
days because they were just handing us free Jamison, they

(02:38:26):
were sending it to the house.

Speaker 21 (02:38:27):
I mean that.

Speaker 16 (02:38:29):
Tapped out all my fun tickets ran. Yeah, I was
done after that. But after a while, now, after enough
not drinking. For me, it was it was just easy
to go in, do my job, get some Malopinia poppers,
and go home.

Speaker 2 (02:38:43):
I get romantic about bars. Not did I necessarily want
to get hammered in them.

Speaker 16 (02:38:47):
But if I see play the tape all the way through,
the beginning of the tape always starts out, good, what
a romantically fun time.

Speaker 2 (02:39:00):
This is great. Later on play that fourth quarter, you go,
like the more stuff that's in front of your beer,
like once there, once you've accumulated change uh sunglass. There's

(02:39:20):
a weird bottle of exactly half a bag of chips.
They're sitting there, like the more stuff that. Eventually you're like,
all right, I created a pile.

Speaker 16 (02:39:33):
I gotta go. When you're at the bar and you
have an altar and a candle in.

Speaker 2 (02:39:37):
Front of you, Billy live in Los Angeles, California, and
you'll be back in a couple of weeks, and we're
looking forward to seeing you having.

Speaker 16 (02:39:44):
A couple of weeks. And I'm gonna listen to this
dead song. If we can't put that together.

Speaker 2 (02:39:48):
Yeah, I hope you're you show up Ramble on Rose too.
At the Thunderbird August first, celebrating Jerry Garcia's birthday with
the cause It's it's a ramble, but the caw is gonna.

Speaker 6 (02:40:00):
Be the cause.

Speaker 2 (02:40:02):
Yeah, for you, it'll be the cause. I'm coming late.
It'll be a good one and all Jerry tunes in
honor of Jerry's birthday. That's, of course the days between,
which is a big old week of celebration of grateful
dead songs all across the world. Thunderbird Saturday Nights. Get
your tickets for that one, because we're gonna make Billy
Guardell get up and saying I got a couple other people, Yeah,
I get some special guests involved in that one. Thanks

(02:40:25):
to joe Bartnick for hanging out with us this morning.
Joey b You're gonna be in Pittsburgh for a couple
of weeks, just.

Speaker 14 (02:40:29):
Yeah right, Yeah, I'll come in Thursday hangout because I'm
promoting the big Assistic Fibrosis Foundation down at the Derby
Thursday night, Me and a bunch of comics Johnny Pittsburgh host.

Speaker 2 (02:40:43):

just a phenomenal show. I'm anxious for everyone to get

The judges Mark Madden, Red Beach and John Bellen from
gena Warewoof were hilarious and spot on, some great performances,

(02:41:27):
and Abby and Mike and Tad were hilarious. And you're
