Speaker 1 (00:01):
Guaranteed human.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
But then when he got to the end, this one
eighth grader, he was like he would grab he grab
my hand and he's.
Speaker 3 (00:12):
Like, stick your hand.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
Did my throw up and jam my hand? He jammed
my hand into a chafing dish filled with cream corn
and it was like room temperature. I was like, oh
my god. And that was the end. That was like
(00:36):
the finale of the Haunted House.
Speaker 3 (00:40):
Horrifying enough as a kindergartener. Yeah, no way, I like
that one. That's that's stick your hand, my brow up.
It was the final boss of the Haunted House. That's
such an.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
Like you know what's going to gross these kids out
and scare them? What if there was a huge tray
of bar and you could jam their little hand into.
Speaker 4 (01:02):
It because they can't do anything about it, what are
you gonna do?
Speaker 3 (01:06):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (01:07):
Brandy Bellman and the DV Morning Show.
Speaker 4 (01:10):
So we were talking earlier about cyclosporiasis and how some
people think, like God's diarrhea, it'll go away in a
couple of days. This is an interview with a woman
in Ohio that had the parasite and just give a
listen to her depiction of what it's like if you
(01:32):
were to contract it.
Speaker 5 (01:33):
No, it was pretty bad.
Speaker 6 (01:34):
It was.
Speaker 3 (01:35):
It was bad.
Speaker 7 (01:35):
It's embarrassing how bad it was.
Speaker 1 (01:37):
It was really bad.
Speaker 7 (01:38):
There were there were moments where I was literally just
camped out in the bathroom and like I don't care,
I'm just gonna lay on this floor. And there was
like one night and I'm not a vomitor. One night
I did have an episode of just like it was.
That was actually the turning port where I was like,
the next morning, I'm like, okay, we're going to the
emergency room because I remember calling and my baby came
(02:00):
in and she's like, what do you need. I was
like something for me to get this out in, so
she's bringing me a trash can. And Yeah, it was
pretty bad.
Speaker 5 (02:07):
It was.
Speaker 3 (02:08):
It was bad.
Speaker 7 (02:08):
It's it's not for the week, I'll tell you that.
And it's kind of scary to think like the effects
that it would have on like elderly people or young kids,
or people who aren't healthy or already immunal compromised. Yeah,
it's pretty bad. I couldn't keep any solid food now.
I did everything I didn't. My friend joked and said
(02:28):
I was eating like a sick dog because I even
made like I made homemade chicken and rice, homemade chicken
and noodles. I couldn't eat any of it, Like I
couldn't hold anything down. And I'm still I'm still actually
on the antibiotics, Like I'm not fully recovered yet. I
still have to go and get you know, follow up
labs because they want to make sure that my liver
is excuse me, that my liver is repairing and that
(02:53):
everything is kind of going back to where it.
Speaker 4 (02:55):
Needs to be.
Speaker 3 (02:57):
Weeks of illness, weeks of arhea.
Speaker 2 (03:01):
When she said if to see if my liver excuse me,
I thought she was going to do it right there. Yeah,
my proom.
Speaker 8 (03:14):
The other component that we have not discussed is that
in order to know that it is cycle sporiasis, is
that you just send in a stool sample.
Speaker 4 (03:24):
Oh yeah, do you want to hear that part of
the interview she talks about, Oh, yes, got.
Speaker 3 (03:31):
The diagnosed gnosis.
Speaker 4 (03:32):
Did you do a stool sample and it came back.
Speaker 7 (03:34):
Yes, So they did. They had me do a stool sample.
They said, a lot of people aren't able to give
them school samples.
Speaker 3 (03:39):
But that's how bad I was.
Speaker 4 (03:41):
A lot of people can't even give the sample. That's
not stool.
Speaker 3 (03:52):
Remember when that game show was on ABC. That's not stool.
Speaker 9 (03:57):
Welcome, I'm Jim J. Bullock your host. Uh, I'm Chuck
Woolry tonight on. Is this your stool?
Speaker 3 (04:12):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (04:12):
And when they send it back, it's not just the results.
They send it all back.
Speaker 3 (04:21):
The labs like you can alright, box it back up.
We didn't want you to lose that tupperware.
Speaker 8 (04:33):
So you're gonna have to clean it.
Speaker 3 (04:36):
So here you go.
Speaker 4 (04:39):
Doesn't look like it's been burned too many times. We
figured you'd want it back.
Speaker 3 (04:43):
Oh no, we thought that was spaghetti sauce stum. Yeah,
it turns out I might have been something else.
Speaker 4 (04:52):
But hey, these things are expensive.
Speaker 3 (04:57):
Best of luck to you.
Speaker 4 (04:59):
Check in with us in a few weeks if you
haven't died of dysentery.
Speaker 8 (05:04):
Kevin Neil and have the bit about how everybody has
a popcorn bowl that's also a puke bowl.
Speaker 3 (05:11):
Yeah so true.
Speaker 4 (05:15):
I think my go to is to take the tiny
bathroom waiste can dump it out or whatever is in there,
which is usually a paper like the the you know,
toilet paper roll and yeah someth and then just just
barfing that.
Speaker 2 (05:31):
I remember when I was a kid, I'd be throwing
up violently, you know. I remember this from me like
four years old. And my dad would be like, Haysten,
Jason passed the basin, whoop slop, pass the mop. I'm like, Dada,
one time, I would be like throwing up in the toilet.
My dad would be like, Haysten Jason passed the basin,
(05:51):
oop slop past the mop. I'm like, dude, please stoping,
like from the Navy or something.
Speaker 3 (05:57):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (05:58):
My dad and Jasons whoop slop.
Speaker 2 (06:03):
My dad was an old dude and he yeah, and
I'm like, you know, stomach cramping, violently, barfing, and he's like,
this is a light in the mood.
Speaker 3 (06:13):
Asian Jason bringing the basin oop slop, bringing them up.
That's awesome.
Speaker 2 (06:19):
Yeah, good wow, good time dude, dudes.
Speaker 8 (06:26):
All right, how about some news this hour, which is
brought to you by Window Nation. Mostly sunny and very
hot today. It's a high of ninety.
Speaker 2 (06:33):
Five, got ninety five. It can't be more than a
hundred and fourteen.
Speaker 5 (06:41):
No, all right.
Speaker 8 (06:45):
The days I'm springing forward and falling back maybe numbered.
Speaker 3 (06:49):
The House passed a bill yesterday.
Speaker 8 (06:51):
To make daylight Saving time permanent nationwide and a bipart
is in three hundred and eight to one hundred and
seventeen vote. The measure, called the Sunshine Protection Act, would
keep the country on the time observed from March to November,
sparing Americans the twice yearly clock change. Those states could
opt for standard time if they set an exemption before
(07:13):
the law takes effect.
Speaker 3 (07:15):
Okay, here's the thing.
Speaker 4 (07:18):
If you don't have daylight savings or it's permanent daylight saving,
do you know what time the sun is going to
come up in the winter?
Speaker 3 (07:29):
No? Idea? Sixteen?
Speaker 4 (07:36):
Yeah, nine am basically is when the sun will rise
nine two am the in the dead of winter, that is, No,
that'll be in the summer.
Speaker 3 (07:45):
Okay does that even make sense? No?
Speaker 8 (07:47):
No, wait, March to November. So what we we're on
the time March to November? What time does the sun
come up?
Speaker 5 (07:57):
Ish?
Speaker 4 (07:57):
Like, well, like it's up, it's technically all the way
up at eight, but it starts to come up so out,
but like it would be a full.
Speaker 3 (08:03):
Hour later, like.
Speaker 4 (08:07):
Nine am sunrise is like think of it, like kids
going to school classes started, the sun's not all the
way up yet. People at their jobs, like we're used
to that coming in as early as we are. But
like if everybody has to do that, I don't know,
Just so the sun can stay out during the winter
until six twenty.
Speaker 3 (08:27):
Like, what is the difference for that? I would? I
think it's a bad idea.
Speaker 8 (08:31):
I want the sun earlier.
Speaker 4 (08:33):
Not well, I in the winter, you're not going out
and about anyways?
Speaker 3 (08:37):
Yeah, I guess not. I mean, I don't know.
Speaker 4 (08:40):
I think there's something good to the early when it
gets dark early, like get build character, get.
Speaker 3 (08:47):
Inside, go home now. I when I when.
Speaker 2 (08:50):
You do the first uh, when it starts getting dark early,
it does like set off a timer in my brain,
like I get get home.
Speaker 3 (08:58):
It does what am I doing? Out? So here's what
it is.
Speaker 4 (09:01):
The current system is summer solstice six sixteen am sunrise,
Winter solstice eight o two sunrise sunset nine sixteen for
summer solstice, sunset five twenty.
Speaker 3 (09:15):
Three for winter solstice solstice, so five twenty three. Okay.
Speaker 4 (09:20):
If you have year round daylight savings time, the sunrise
in the summer will be six sixteen am, it'll set
at nine sixteen pm. In the winter, it won't rise
until nine o two am and it will set at
six twenty three. If you have year round standard time,
the summer solstice solstice months will be five sixteen am sunrise,
(09:46):
which is really early eight sixteen pm sunset, and the
winter will be eight o two am sunrise five twenty
three pm sunset. I think the current system is the
best one six sixteen am to nine sixteen pm in
the summer, eight oh two am to five twenty three
(10:09):
pm in the.
Speaker 3 (10:09):
Winter eight O two to carry the one.
Speaker 2 (10:18):
All right, I'm good with the system we have in
place now because I fear that I'm incapable of changing.
Speaker 3 (10:27):
At all. Well about that, I fear change.
Speaker 8 (10:30):
I just don't want to change the way I do anything.
I'm also curious what the impact is on your circadian
rhythm in terms of observing the sun with your eyes
in the morning and becoming mole people.
Speaker 4 (10:44):
Basically, yeah, yeah, Hey, look, our lawmakers haven't done us
wrong yet, so let's just put our faith in them.
Speaker 3 (10:52):
You nailed it.
Speaker 8 (10:54):
A huge new survey asked the question how many group
chats are you in the most popular answer was zero.
Thirty five percent of people have no group chats. I'm
jealous with a peaceful life. After that, it seems like
two to three. Group chats is the sweet spot. But
here are the best stats. One percent have over twenty
(11:16):
group chats. Seven percent don't even know how many they're in.
And what do you do when your group chat explodes
with hundreds of unread messages all of a sudden. Twenty
eight percent say they read every single one, Twenty seven
percent say they just skim them to get the general idea,
seven percent ignore the whole thing, and one percent ask
(11:39):
Ai to summarize them for it.
Speaker 3 (11:43):
Yeah, we shouldn't be doing that.
Speaker 2 (11:44):
You shouldn't ask Gai to summarize because you need to
know how to clap back at people who are trashing
you in the group chat.
Speaker 5 (11:50):
It's true, Yeah, that's true.
Speaker 8 (11:52):
Family group chats are tough because if you leave a
family group chat, they know and then it's another big deal.
Speaker 3 (12:02):
So I'm on several variations of family group chats.
Speaker 2 (12:07):
So you're in some secret family group chats, Yes, you're
in like a brain trust group chat.
Speaker 4 (12:11):
But the main one with my mom who's the only
living parent and her kids, her six kids, I don't
choose to interact with that one very much because my
mom will send a few memes a day, and you know,
everyone from out of town will be like hitting love
and I put the heart emoji on it and everything.
(12:31):
Like the other day, she sent a meme about love
and it was from the writer the poet Rumy, and
you know, on the side, I said to my sister,
I'm like, this is about romantic love. That's what he
wrote about, not like Mom, and like she's just she's
online too much. And everyone's like, oh, Mom, that's so sweet.
I'm like, that's about humpin'. Like that is not for kids.
(12:55):
That's not what it's supposed to be. This is why
I don't because Randy ruins everything. I don't say anything right, and.
Speaker 3 (13:00):
Then I catch flak from some of the other siblings like, man,
you don't say anything, Like it's just like you don't
want to. Mom's trying, yeah, And I'm like, well, guess
what a holes who shows up for mom?
Speaker 4 (13:09):
Me.
Speaker 3 (13:10):
I'm the guy who goes there.
Speaker 4 (13:11):
I'm actually the guy that visits with her and takes
her to the stuff while you're down in Florida or
Los Angeles or Chicago.
Speaker 1 (13:17):
Or New York or whatever.
Speaker 3 (13:18):
Like you guys don't hear I'm boots on the ground.
Speaker 4 (13:21):
Yeah, you want to have this little parasocial relationship with
her through memes.
Speaker 2 (13:26):
Go right ahead, I am muting the f out of
that stuff. Don't choose to engage. It's the memes that
really matter.
Speaker 3 (13:32):
Randy they are.
Speaker 4 (13:33):
But here's the thing, I think they do matter more
to my mom than me being there. That's she's so
upset that I won't respond to that stuff she sends
me stuff on the side, I just.
Speaker 3 (13:43):
Want to make sure everything's okay.
Speaker 4 (13:46):
I'm like, yeah, I just don't want to respond to
every Jesus meme you send, Like I will be there
for brunch on Sunday. I'm the one picking you up
and I'm doing all the stuff.
Speaker 3 (13:55):
I didn't think we needed.
Speaker 4 (13:56):
To have this little back and forth with whatever your
favorite faces what graphic is today?
Speaker 8 (14:02):
This is like this is my girl causin or you know,
just like a larger picture of just sibling relationships to
I had this conversation with my mom yesterday where she
was like, if I'm ever on life support, you know
she'll pull the plug.
Speaker 3 (14:14):
I know you won't, but she will. So here's what
I want you to do. You make sure you know
whether it should be done or not, and you.
Speaker 8 (14:21):
Decide, but you make her pull the plug so she
has to think about it.
Speaker 3 (14:25):
Oh God, exactly.
Speaker 2 (14:29):
Now everybody sit down, we're gonna watch the end of
million Dollar Baby.
Speaker 3 (14:37):
No. I am one hundred percent car. I have been there.
Speaker 4 (14:40):
I have been the one who's put up her husband's
family when he was done, they all stayed at my house.
I pulled the plug on him, literally, like I turned
off the death machine.
Speaker 3 (14:49):
Yeah, they're win win win. And everyone's crying around the body.
The nurse looks over at me, just turn it off,
just turn it off.
Speaker 4 (14:56):
I'm like, no, I'm not turning it off. Really, Oh,
I swear to god. He he checks out. His kids are
like this. Kids are really nice, and they are all like,
you know, whimpering over their deceased father. And my mom's
in there with me. I'm the only one of the kids,
not one of the memes me. I'm there.
Speaker 3 (15:16):
And the nurse like.
Speaker 4 (15:18):
Leans over the table while they're all crying and said,
because it's like going, and she because I'm next to
it with my hands folded, looking down somberly.
Speaker 3 (15:29):
She's like, just turn it off. I'm like, no, I'm
not turning it off. You have to turn it off.
It's gonna look like I'm the one who could build
the blacking. You'll get out, you know. She's like, it's
not that hard, you just are Oh.
Speaker 2 (15:42):
My god, you were the closest though.
Speaker 4 (15:45):
Yeah, so, but I made her do it. The point
is like, this is more of an argument has nothing to.
Speaker 3 (15:51):
Do with my mom.
Speaker 4 (15:52):
It has everything to do with my siblings, where I'm like, oh, oh, mom,
was oh you love you.
Speaker 3 (15:57):
Love that one because he keeps responding telling your memes.
Speaker 4 (16:00):
Remember when you made you feel unwelcome when you went
down there on Christmas because his in laws were there
and you were second banana to everything.
Speaker 3 (16:08):
I remember that who took you to brunch?
Speaker 6 (16:12):
Mom?
Speaker 3 (16:12):
Who got you the mimosas.
Speaker 4 (16:14):
Yeah, so that's like I'm very sensitive about that's because
I just don't think, like, hey, my relationship with my
mom does not depend on how active I am in
the group chat. But for the people who are out
of town, from my siblings who are out of town,
they invest a lot in that, and they're like, man,
you just don't even you don't get involved in her.
I'm like, that's because I talked to her. I talked
to all you guys separate too. I don't need to
(16:35):
weigh in on every one of these. I mean, my
one brother's just like, you know, he just hits the
emoji every time.
Speaker 2 (16:41):
He's just like like it's just easier that way.
Speaker 3 (16:44):
And I'm like, yeah, but that's nothing. Yeah, that's not
even that I'm there, doesn't that matter. No, that's my mom.
Speaker 4 (16:50):
My mom would rather I liked all of her memes
then actually show up.
Speaker 8 (16:55):
I swear to God, he just wants to know you're
in on the Jesus part of it, right, It's.
Speaker 3 (17:01):
Not just Jesus, it's just like, you know, a love
of a mother for her children. You know a lot
of that stuff.
Speaker 2 (17:07):
Have you thought about sending uh anti memes in response,
like a picture of Trent Reznor, like your own personal
Jesus I.
Speaker 3 (17:17):
Love you, mom?
Speaker 4 (17:18):
But anytime I've done that, like joked around and then
like she doesn't know how to take it. She's she's
because she's trying. It's for her. She's eighty three, you
know what I mean. So she's really just trying to
be like I wish I could be with all my kids,
you know, and it's it's very sweet, but I'm the
I just keep saying to her, I'm like I'm actually
with you.
Speaker 3 (17:36):
I'm I'm actually doing the stuff.
Speaker 8 (17:38):
What if you started trolling it a little bit?
Speaker 3 (17:40):
I get it, and it was no, no, no.
Speaker 8 (17:42):
Every time you have a meal, you do like a
selfie with your food, be like guys look and yeah
they start giving love and like emojis.
Speaker 3 (17:52):
Like yay, and then if they don't, you can bitch
about it.
Speaker 4 (17:55):
Yeah, but it's the ones who do the least that
are the most active on the thread.
Speaker 3 (18:01):
And I'm like, it's over compensation. Does nobody see this? Crazy?
Speaker 4 (18:08):
I know, And it's just me mad at my siblings.
That has nothing to do with my mom because I
talk to her all the time. I'm like, I just
don't need to do it on that thread.
Speaker 3 (18:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (18:18):
There's fourteen in my family like group text yeah, and
four of those people are retired and then two or
like work from home and so I just get enraged
because people have time and it sets me off.
Speaker 4 (18:34):
Two is like when you're working and everybody's just lighting
your phone up. I mean I have it on mute,
but like I can't see that I have a message
and not look at so the mute just stops a
ding from happening.
Speaker 2 (18:49):
Yeah, I'm in I have a small family, so we
don't have like a big family group chat, which is
good because if I were added to my aunt and
cousins group chat, I know I'd be in there, like
eleven thirty on a Friday, Me send something out here.
Speaker 3 (19:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (19:04):
We just upgraded my daughter from like a little Gizmo watch,
which has like a ton of protection you can't really
text her without the app, to an Apple Watch. So
now she has the phone number and I keep thinking,
I'm like, if one of you adds her to this
group chat, I'll kill you.
Speaker 3 (19:22):
Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 8 (19:25):
Can only take so many poop emojis in the day.
Speaker 3 (19:29):
Mostly sunny and very hot. It's the high of ninety
five today. Yeah, I just want to make Claire. I
was not being mad at my mom. It's my siblings.
I'm like, they get away with murder and just by
liking it. She's like, oh, isn't that sweet? I'm like,
where the hell was he? Well? I needed to help,
which we had to take it to the hospital.
Speaker 6 (19:47):
Where was he?
Speaker 3 (19:48):
The uh?
Speaker 1 (19:49):
Where were the memes?
Speaker 3 (19:50):
Then?
Speaker 8 (19:50):
Who sent you home with leftovers and a belly full?
Speaker 3 (19:55):
Remember Mother's Day? Who are you sitting with? Who was
that that showed up. It was Randy.
Speaker 4 (20:00):
That's right.
Speaker 1 (20:01):
You can have your memes.
Speaker 4 (20:03):
I have the mums on the way for you. Mike pursueda,
he's got your sports. Not much to talk about with
the All Star Game, but the World Cup yesterday was
a was a doozy, and Spain defensively has just been
a juggernaut. And France umbape m ba not.
Speaker 3 (20:24):
He couldn't get it done.
Speaker 4 (20:25):
France is out and now it's Spain versus the winner
of England and Argentina today Messy and Harry Kane, Messy
Caine today at three o'clock.
Speaker 3 (20:40):
I'm on Argentina, want England to win. I hate I
hate England. He too. We're Americans, We're supposed to hate England.
Speaker 2 (20:45):
Mike was given me a bunch of Mike pushed back
a lot on this last week.
Speaker 3 (20:49):
If you have any Irish in you, you hate the English?
What do you mean? Why the way? What?
Speaker 2 (20:54):
You need a reason to hate England now all of
a sudden?
Speaker 4 (20:58):
Yeah, well just ask any of your Irish friends what
they think about that. Yeah, I have my one buddy,
uh uh, our dear friend Declan down at harpin Fiddle
in his suicide pool he drew England.
Speaker 3 (21:12):
He was so like, oh my god. Yeah, and then
what's the payout?
Speaker 5 (21:18):
Right?
Speaker 4 (21:18):
He's probably significant, So like there's that, Like you know,
I'm like, well, look, if you win, you can donate
it all to the IRA. Uh all right, Mark Madden
nine forty five, Steve burn E forty five.
Speaker 6 (21:31):
If you've got a craving for a song that you
haven't heard in a while.
Speaker 3 (21:34):
Hey, Michelle, how about this one?
Speaker 6 (21:36):
Let Michelle know we all request electric Lunch is coming
up later at noon on one oh two point five
DV live from the Donz Appliances studios going on Sports
Up brought.
Speaker 3 (21:49):
You buy Bridgeville Appliants.
Speaker 10 (21:51):
It didn't exactly qualify as a Midsummer Classic. Last night
in Philadelphia, the All Star Game won by the American
League four to nothing. Thing the National League held to
three hits and two walks while striking out fifteen times
against eleven American League pitchers. Cody Bellinger and the Yankees
(22:12):
went one for three with two RBI. He was your
game MVP. Not exactly Dave Parker in nineteen seventy nine.
Speaker 3 (22:21):
Ratings had to be terrible for this. In Seattle, Jim
Rice oh for three tonight. I guess Micha Lacos.
Speaker 10 (22:30):
Pops it up right side Parker Mark.
Speaker 3 (22:34):
Uston, he last it, it drops and.
Speaker 11 (22:38):
It's a two base hit, and Rice is gonna try for.
Speaker 3 (22:40):
Three and he will not make it.
Speaker 6 (22:48):
I ain't Parker talking to each other out there now,
Margan and Parker.
Speaker 11 (22:54):
That's part of what we've told you about the Bermuda
triangle from second base to right around that spotting back
up toward center failed.
Speaker 3 (23:01):
But what a recovery to show a tremendous.
Speaker 4 (23:04):
Throwing arm with a perfect one hopper.
Speaker 3 (23:07):
To say to get Rice, Wow, boy.
Speaker 2 (23:10):
I'll tell you, when you got an arm like that,
you can.
Speaker 3 (23:13):
Erase a lot of mistakes. When you have speed like him,
you can erase a lot of mistakes. Yeah.
Speaker 10 (23:17):
That was Dave Parker throwing out Jim Rice at third
base in the seventh inning. Uh but the Cobras, it
turned out, wasn't done showing off that arm just yet.
Speaker 3 (23:29):
Light drive right here, we may have a player to
play a big hop. Here comes down he here's a
troll it is.
Speaker 12 (23:36):
He knocked him off the plate.
Speaker 6 (23:38):
What a pay my citter, My tremendous play by Purner.
Speaker 3 (23:42):
Oh baby, what a play what a throw by Dad
Parker to ten years the show why some.
Speaker 10 (23:49):
People consider the greatest player of the game. That's what
he was in the late seventies, the greatest player in
the game. Yeah, and Willie Starts was not far off
of that. Nationally won seven to six in nineteen seventy nine,
Parker was the MVP, and then Willie Starzell went on
to split the National League MVP award with Keith Hernandez
(24:12):
and then win the NLCS MVP and the World Series
MVP as the Pirates.
Speaker 3 (24:19):
That was their last World Series championship.
Speaker 2 (24:21):
Did you ever hear that thing about Dave Parker when
he was with the the like credit him with the
longest home run in history home run?
Speaker 3 (24:27):
Oh okay, I think you gus long do something.
Speaker 1 (24:29):
Else, Brad.
Speaker 2 (24:33):
He hit a home run when he was playing for
the Charleston Charlie's or something into a coal car out
of the outfield and it traveled like two hundred and
ten miles.
Speaker 3 (24:42):
Seriously. Yeah, so that's that's hilarious home run. That's hilarious. Yeah.
Speaker 10 (24:51):
They try to play everybody now to Parker in that game.
In addition to those two throws, he started the game
he's still in the game at right field. In the
seventh and the eighth inning, he went one for three
at the plate with a walk and a sacrifice sacrifice
fly RBI, so he had five plate appearances enough time
to do MVP like stuff. I get they want to
(25:13):
play everybody, but I don't know, it's just the All
Star Games kind of run out of juice to me.
Speaker 4 (25:21):
I don't know how they could possibly jush it up
at this point. You know, they got microphones on the players.
It's just they're too valuable of an asset to their
respective franchises, and nobody wants them really going after it.
Speaker 3 (25:39):
Yeah, they don't. And that's the thing.
Speaker 5 (25:41):
You know.
Speaker 10 (25:41):
Before it used to be you were a starter and
you played the majority of the game, and then if
you were a reserved you.
Speaker 3 (25:46):
Might get in, you might not. Yeah noo.
Speaker 10 (25:48):
Now nobody wants to go if they if they're not
going to play, the fans want to see their guys.
Speaker 3 (25:53):
I get.
Speaker 4 (25:53):
It's like bowl games. Yeah, bowl games that don't matter,
Like I'm gonna skip it.
Speaker 3 (25:57):
They should maybe just take a break. I don't know.
Speaker 4 (26:00):
I think there's something important about celebrating the sport.
Speaker 3 (26:05):
I'm not sure.
Speaker 4 (26:08):
You know, the exhibition could be anything other than what
it is, which is a disappointment, But I think it
would be a bigger disappointment to not have it, because
there's still once in a while going to be like
an Otawne Trout thing where hey, maybe though don I know.
Speaker 3 (26:24):
That was in the World Baseball Class. That's different.
Speaker 10 (26:25):
But you know what I'm saying, Well, and there is
other stuff besides the playing of the game. I can
remember the last time it was at PNC Park. I
forget the exact year, but I was with the trip
then and one of my assignments was I hung out
on the Clementi Bridge and they were taking the players
in convertibles from the Renaissance Hotel over the bridge to
(26:49):
the stadium, and there were thousands and thousands of fans
on the bridge and on the route.
Speaker 3 (26:55):
It was really cool. That was fantastic, Like I was
down there with my pop was.
Speaker 10 (27:00):
Really playing it up parade, doing everything he could to
engage with as many people as he possibly could.
Speaker 3 (27:06):
And it was a great hour and a half or
however long that it took.
Speaker 10 (27:10):
So there is that kind of stuff which you can't
replicate anywhere else.
Speaker 4 (27:13):
What I would also say is that it might just
be the last night's game wasn't very good, and sometimes
you can create scenarios where it's a little more exciting.
Like Bryce Harper is miked up going against Cade Smith
who strikes him out with a nasty splitter, and you
can hear Bryce Harper he says, ah.
Speaker 3 (27:31):
Sorry, guys, that was disgusting. Yeah, that's disgusting. That's that's
what I'm saying. I mean, that's kind of cool.
Speaker 4 (27:41):
Like he lives just terribly at this splitter that drops
off the table and he's like, ah, that was disgusting, guy. Sorry,
talking to the analysts that you know, that's pretty cool.
Speaker 3 (27:52):
Well, there was a moment also.
Speaker 10 (27:53):
I watched the first inning in a little bit after
and Dylan Cease was the starter for the American League,
and he was talking to the broadcast crew and John
Smoltz actually suggested a pitch at one point. I forget
what was too too or so hey try the slider.
Guy's like, oh, well, Smoltsey says, so you know, here
we go. Like but some of that was awkward too,
(28:14):
because it's hard, particularly for a catcher to catch and
talk at the same time. Right, I'm not trying to
make fun of it. I mean, it's just they're asking
too much. Yeah, I get if it's an outfielder or
somebody that's not doing something every pitch, one pitch after another.
Speaker 4 (28:30):
What if there are only two outs per inning, be
quicker or you just featured three batters per inning.
Speaker 3 (28:38):
I don't know.
Speaker 10 (28:38):
I don't have an answer for it. But it used
to be a huge deal, and now it's a TV show.
Speaker 2 (28:44):
To the micd up point, they did that in the
NHL All Star Game one time and they were talking
to Marty Turco who was on the ice and he
got scored on and he was like, I kind of
wish I wasn't talking to you guys during that.
Speaker 3 (28:56):
He was like pissed. Yeah, I brought shame on my family. Rightly.
Pitch the Turco family thread is going to really get
ugly down. Yeah.
Speaker 10 (29:05):
I hopefully people enjoyed. It started closer to eight thirty
than eight o'clock. I don't know what time it ended.
Speaker 3 (29:11):

Speaker 4 (31:31):
Rivers Casino joining us right now the host of all
five of those goddamn comedy jams. Ladies and gentlemen, our
dear friend, Pittsburgh's own Steve Burns.
Speaker 3 (31:39):
Sean, Hello, Hi, how are you? Good morning, buddy?
Speaker 4 (31:49):
How are you Have you stayed away from the parasite
yet or do you already have it?
Speaker 5 (31:53):
You know, it's interesting when you get diarrhea then this
time do you get to blame the parasite?
Speaker 3 (32:00):
Or is it?
Speaker 5 (32:00):
Like I think it's from Taco Bell, but I can't
be sure, so I don't know. I just I always
roll the dice. It's Arby's, it's Taco Bell. It's like,
let's eat like an eighth grader today and see what
can affect us.
Speaker 3 (32:12):
You know, it's so far, so good, good, that's good.
Speaker 4 (32:14):
You know what's funny is like Arby's just announced a
new sandwich this week that is roast beef smothered with
mac and cheese in the middle of it, and it's
on a Hogi roll. So it's like Arby's roast beef
shove in a whole bunch of mac and cheese into
a toasted Hogi roll. Eating that is about the safest
thing you can eat right now. Not a vegetable within
(32:37):
a mile of that thing.
Speaker 5 (32:40):
It's true, you know, even Permanni's you know, for as
much as it can. At least you got whole slow
on that. You know, Yeah you got somewhat of a
vegetable there, But yeah, Arby's is a it's always look
any of those things, there's a roll of the dice.
Speaker 3 (32:53):
I think that the biggest.
Speaker 5 (32:54):
Dice roll in fast food by far is long John Sobers.
Speaker 3 (32:59):
It is deep.
Speaker 5 (33:01):
Food under a dollar. I don't know it's that or
gas station sushi could be the biggest roll of the dice.
It's like, all right, do you are you able to
clear your calendar just in case?
Speaker 3 (33:16):
But go for it, Steve.
Speaker 4 (33:19):
The goddamn Comedy Jam is back this Friday night, and
you put together another stellar lineup. For the few remaining
tickets that are left, people can get those at the
River's Casino box office. But once again, regale us with
this all star cast that you have thrown together.
Speaker 5 (33:35):
It's been a while since anybody asked me to regale
them with anything, but I'm more than happy to regale
the fine people of Pittsburgh, Ye and your listeners. Yes,
the fifty annual Comedy Jam benefiting a wonderful night of
comedy music benefiting being Mario Lemu Foundation over the last
four years we've raised over two hundred and fifty thousand dollars,
so we're hoping to break a record. We're close to
(33:56):
being sold out, so we have a few tickets that
were least that are thirty four dollars now on the wings,
so people can get those at Riverscasino dot com.
Speaker 3 (34:07):
But it's a great show.
Speaker 5 (34:08):
It's comedians come out, we tell some stand up and
then we sing a song with a live band to
usually comedic results. This year we have Joe Gaddo, James
Murray from Practical Jokers, Joey Fatone from and Think, Jessica
Cia from Pussycat Dolls, myself, Gary Cannon will host, Bill Crawford,
Lace Larrabee, Patrick Keane, We'll be doing stand up as well,
(34:29):
and we got some special guests that are coming.
Speaker 3 (34:31):
Through this year.
Speaker 5 (34:32):
And yeah, it's all for an incredible cause, what the
Lemieux Foundation does and how they've been not only supportive
in the within the community, but to you know, especially
Children's Hospital, et cetera, et cetera. Nancy Angus, the crew
they've done just do an incredible job. So it's it's
truly like a great honor to be tethered with them
and let them. They they're giving us permission to do
(34:56):
a show like this to raise money for them. So
it's the fun oft show of the year for me.
It's always the one I circle on the calendar and
I have an absolute blast and I hope everybody comes
out and has a great time.
Speaker 3 (35:07):
It's a killer lineup this year. Oh, it always is.
Speaker 4 (35:10):
It always is, uh, And everybody always asks me about
this show because they have such a it's such a
unique time.
Speaker 3 (35:17):
They're always like, oh, when is that? When is it?
Speaker 4 (35:20):
Because it's not your standard comedy show. It's like a
party that the whole crowd is involved in.
Speaker 5 (35:26):
Yeah, yeah, I mean it's very interactive, especially with Gary
Cannon thing. So Gary and I hosted it last year.
We had so much fun. It was such a blast
that we decided to team up again and do it
this year.
Speaker 3 (35:37):
But it literally is.
Speaker 5 (35:39):
It's the most nervous I get doing a show, And
after thirty years of doing stand up, it's hard to
get nervous doing a show, but this is one where
you're outside your comfort level.
Speaker 3 (35:46):
You're singing songs you have no right to sing.
Speaker 5 (35:50):
And this year I'm going to take it up a
notch and try to do Man in.
Speaker 3 (35:55):
The mirror with Gary. So, oh my god, we'll see
how that goes. Will be special.
Speaker 4 (36:01):
I want to point out Gary Cannon was taking off
his shirt long before Burt Kreischer was. He was like
the original just take off your shirt and walk around
the south Side kind of guy.
Speaker 5 (36:10):
Yeah, and if you can imagine it getting worse, which
is odd. It's it's as though the guy didn't do
a push up since the presidential fitness challenge.
Speaker 4 (36:20):
I think the one with Gerald Ford.
Speaker 5 (36:28):
Yes, Garry I believe is approaching his seventies.
Speaker 3 (36:32):
Yes, that's right, yeah, all tracks.
Speaker 4 (36:34):
Yeah, Now, Steve, have you been watching the World Cup?
Speaker 5 (36:39):
I've not.
Speaker 4 (36:40):
Oh my god, I can't believe you've not taken the
opportunity to get involved in something that pits the world
against against each other.
Speaker 5 (36:49):
No, no, no, usually that's that's Donald Trump. I've not
necessarily watched. Did something spectacular happen recently?
Speaker 4 (36:58):
Well, I was saying you would probably be rooting for
you know, after South Korea got ousted that it would
have been.
Speaker 3 (37:09):
You would.
Speaker 5 (37:11):
What's the top three Asians get out? I'm like, I'm out,
I'm out.
Speaker 4 (37:16):
But the England victory song is Oasis Wonderwall, so I
thought maybe you'd be excited about that for no other
reason to maybe be rooting for England today in the
semi final against Argentina.
Speaker 5 (37:31):
I think it's like when a twin gets late, the
other twin knows and just smiles.
Speaker 3 (37:35):
I think that's why I feel about Wonderwall.
Speaker 5 (37:37):
Anytime anybody and over over over twelve people sing it,
somewhere there's a glint in my eyes.
Speaker 3 (37:42):
Yeah. Absolutely, yeah.
Speaker 5 (37:44):
But they have a new documentary coming out September eleventh
that I'm very excited about.
Speaker 3 (37:49):
So that'll that'll.
Speaker 5 (37:51):
Go too, and I'll bring my kids with me and
they'll go, Daddy, why are you crying again? And that's
what happened that that's what they do to me. But no,
it also Saria and I've been off the grid and
Pittsburgh's actually my last show doing stand up comedy. As
you guys know, I've been doing stand up for you know,
god knows, you know, thirty decades, three decades now, and
(38:14):
and other than when Sullivan's Sun was taping, I was
still doing stand up on the weekends and then I
go four so it's always doing stand up. But this
is the first time since I started in ninety seven
where I'm I'm taking some like three three to four
months off doing stand up because I'm actually moved to
Saint Louis and I'm going to direct the film that
(38:34):
I wrote about caw Tech Caltech basketball team called The Streak.
So yeah, I think of a yeah, yeah, I couldn't
think of a better better place to do my last
show for quite some time than Pittsburgh. So I'm literally
doing it, and then I'm jumping.
Speaker 3 (38:51):
Right into pre production. I'm here for soft prep right now.
But the movie is called The Streak.
Speaker 5 (38:57):
And that's why the Asian team.
Speaker 3 (39:00):
Uh so I.
Speaker 5 (39:02):
But but the film is is a true story about
cal Tech's basketball team. Cal Tech the MIT the West Coast,
and they have a basketball team, and they possess the
longest losing streak in college basketball history thirty years, not
a win in three hundred and ten conference games.
Speaker 3 (39:21):
Uh, they don't win a single time.
Speaker 5 (39:23):
So a new coach comes in, takes over the program,
and his whole goal is to get a bunch of
Asians and Indians and whites and black.
Speaker 3 (39:32):
Kids to just win a single game.
Speaker 5 (39:35):
So it's obviously very comedic in nature at Helm's going
to play the coach. I'm gonna direct, and we're here
casting it right now and scouting and getting it all situated.
Speaker 3 (39:45):
So it's a it's a it'll be announced soon. Nothing's
been announced yet.
Speaker 5 (39:49):
Usually these things are announced on deadline, but uh, this
will probably announced in the next two or three weeks.
Back home and telling you guys about it. So it's
gonna be It's gonna be pretty cool. It's like a
ten months dollar budget, whoa close to eleven, So it's
a it's a pretty big film.
Speaker 3 (40:04):
Yeah, it'll be fun.
Speaker 4 (40:05):
Well, congrats on that, and I predict within two weeks
you'll be doing stand up at the Funny Bone in
Saint Louis with Greg Warren.
Speaker 3 (40:10):
But that's you know, we've actually talked, Yeah, and you're
not far off. I've been. I've been talking to.
Speaker 5 (40:16):
Helium about doing Sunday, and I chose just to keep
fresh because stand up, as you know, is a.
Speaker 1 (40:21):
Lot like running.
Speaker 3 (40:22):
The minute you stopped, you kind of lose.
Speaker 5 (40:25):
So I don't want to get any rush. So yeah,
it's gonna be darn fun.
Speaker 4 (40:28):
Steve Byrne The Goddamn Comedy Jam fifth Annual Goddamn Comedy jam, folks.
It's almost sold out, so don't delay getting your tickets.
This benefits of Mario Lemoux Foundation, as it does each
and every year. It's this Friday at Rivers Casino. Get
your tickets at the River's Casino box office. Steven, congrats
on that news about directing that flick about cal Tech.
Speaker 3 (40:45):
I had no idea and I'm thrilled for you, buddy. Oh,
thank you so much.
Speaker 5 (40:49):
Yet it's I mean, you know, I think anytime somebody
goes to your IMDb or looks at these things, it's like,
you know, everybody sees the yeses, right, Like Sullivan's son
was a yes. Opening act was yes. But you don't
see the nose. And this this film has spent six
years in the making, and it's just it's I'm just
so glad it's it's being made and we're all so
(41:09):
excited about it. It's it's truly a really fun inspiring
underdog sports comedy with a with a bunch of nerds,
and it's so funny. Even when you're auditioning these kids,
You're you're auditioning kids that you know one of the
one of the producers like, how about this guy, he's
good looking.
Speaker 3 (41:29):
I'm like, yeah, that's great. I'm not making and sync.
We're creating the Big.
Speaker 1 (41:33):
Bang theory guys.
Speaker 3 (41:34):
You know.
Speaker 5 (41:35):
So we're casting these nerds and and some of them
are like, yeah, I don't really play basketball. It's I'm like,
the good news is none of them do. So yeah,
so you don't have to be great. You don't even
have to be good.
Speaker 3 (41:49):
You know.
Speaker 5 (41:49):
So this is the one sports film where the kids
aren't like actually athletics. So it's kind of like the
opposite of every sports fool you were soon.
Speaker 4 (41:58):
Leave it to Steve Byrne to go from host of
a disgraced international beauty pageant to direct.
Speaker 5 (42:04):
He that's yeah, I will not be asked to do
that anytime against.
Speaker 4 (42:13):
Maybe you can hire one of those those those women
that the Mexican called ugly. Wasn't there a Mexican guy
that called them one of the contestants ugly or something?
Speaker 5 (42:24):
Wasn't that Oh he did more than yeah, he called
her dumb head.
Speaker 3 (42:27):
She wasn't she was ugly.
Speaker 5 (42:29):
It was absolutely like and again like to your point,
like he called her.
Speaker 3 (42:34):
All this stuff.
Speaker 5 (42:35):
The day after I was announced as the host for
the next day, I wake up to all these messages,
You're a jerk, You're this, You're that, You're racist, You're
you're racist, you're racist against Latinas. And then I had
to clarify. I'm like, I'm not racist. If anybody's racist,
it's you, guys, because it was the other agent, dude.
Speaker 4 (42:59):
Uh Steve Burr and this weekend here in Pittsburgh, and Buddy,
I know these tickets are going to fly off the shelf.
Speaker 3 (43:05):
But looking forward to seeing you soon.
Speaker 5 (43:08):
Thank you so much, Randy, thank you Abby, Thanks to
the crew, everybody. Thanks again for having me. As always, man,
you gotta come best. We'll see you.
