Speaker 1 (00:14):
It's for an iHeart radio station guaranteed human.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
There is a sense of urgency, there's a lot of pressure,
there's a lot of life experience that happens very early
in your life and even midlife. And if you do
get to a point where as we hear often that
as we naturally age, that things start to maybe.

Speaker 3 (00:42):
Bother you a little less. You have less to.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
Fight against or set like you know what I mean,
Like you're not really up against as much.

Speaker 3 (00:52):
And it does.

Speaker 2 (00:54):
That's not a perspective that a younger person would understand
because you're fighting through your life at that time. So
if I'm hearing like a Paul McCartney song and he's
just like this is on the book from here.

Speaker 3 (01:06):
I'm sorry, I can't buy a house, Like what are
we talking about?

Speaker 4 (01:12):
His next song is about maxing out your rough contributions.

Speaker 5 (01:17):
One, two, three.

Speaker 1 (01:20):
Frandy Bellman and the DV morning show me.

Speaker 6 (01:24):
Today's show is packed. We should probably break it up
into three or four shows. But we're not gonna. We're
gonna jam it all in there like a PRP shot
in your thumb. It's just it's gonna be way too
much in a small capsule. We'll rate our algorithms at
seven forty five. Big Cat from barstool Sports pardon my take.
We'll be joining us eight forty five and Guy janku

(01:46):
are at nine to forty five. We'll talk about how
there's nothing to talk about in sports except for the
World Cup. Yesterday's World Cup game between Argentina and England was,
in all thimer, one of the greatest games I've ever seen.

Speaker 5 (01:59):
Coach hing Mouth feassons.

Speaker 6 (02:01):
I'm sure a lot of people didn't get to see
it because of the three o'clock start time, but I'm
here to tell you right now that was as exciting
as sports can get. And with what was on the line,
international intrigue from the World Cup angle, of course, the
whole world watching and seeing England fall in glorious fashion
yet again, to have victory snag from them in the

(02:26):
last fifteen minutes there by Argentina just, oh god, was
that enjoyable. So now you have Argentina facing Spain Hispania.
But there's like, you know, when it's when it's like
Baltimore and Pittsburgh playing, you know, there's only so much
like beefing you can do back and forth. But when

(02:46):
you're talking about countries, the trolling takes on another level.
Like the Argentinians were running around with a banner that
said the Falkland Islands belonged to Argentina.

Speaker 4 (02:56):
You know they're doing war trolling, you know, yes, Oh
that's great, Yeah, history, you know exactly. I mean we
talked about Steelers Ravens. That's a less than a thirty
year old rivalry.

Speaker 5 (03:10):
Yeah, that's right.

Speaker 6 (03:11):
Argentina and England have been doing it for centuries. Anyways,
pack shows we said, Abby's got unis right now?

Speaker 5 (03:19):
Hi, Abby? What's going on?

Speaker 2 (03:20):
News?

Speaker 3 (03:20):
This hour? Brought to you by your neighborhood Ford Store.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
Partly sunny and pretty toasty today, and wildfire smoke will
create unhealthy air quality and poor visibility at times.

Speaker 3 (03:31):
It's gonna be a high of ninety three.

Speaker 6 (03:33):
I mean, the tweet of the day yesterday was breathing
in hefty lungfuls of smoke as I get explosive diarrhea
from salad. The sky turns apocalyptic orange, while oil companies
drilling protected lands, screwworms are eating cattle alive, and the
president paid six million dollars for rape.

Speaker 5 (03:48):
Also, I'm able to bet on all of it.

Speaker 2 (03:57):
I'm looking at I was just about to start a
story on the bridge demolition getting it didn't happen.

Speaker 3 (04:04):
It didn't happen.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
And it was postponed after people were camped out and
ready to go, and apparently there were issues with some
part of the deck that prevented crews from moving equipment,
and then they just ran out of daylight and just
decided to call it a day because I think the
range was until like nine pm, but they as of
like early this morning, they were supposed to do it today,

(04:27):
like this morning was supposed to happen, and now I'm
seeing an email saying that it is not happening today.

Speaker 5 (04:34):
Okay, so that's what's got you, because you look confused, over.

Speaker 2 (04:37):
Confused because I was just ready to do it, and
then like one minute ago, I just got an email.

Speaker 5 (04:42):
I just got an update from traffic.

Speaker 3 (04:43):
Well, yeah, it.

Speaker 2 (04:44):
Looks like it's not happening today. Not sure what the
reason for that would be. It did seem like a
lot of people were camped out for it, though, because
every like newscast that I saw, it almost sounded like
the news anchors were like a little miffed that so
many people were there, and like getting closer than them,

(05:05):
Like there's a drone that they had flying around and
it would beep when people were too close, and it
kept like going off because people were getting too close
to the last zone.

Speaker 3 (05:17):
But that is a very bitfird thing to do. It's
like it's going to blow up. I got to see it.

Speaker 6 (05:22):
I do want to back up Abby by reading the
the alert that we got, the email that we that
we got in all capitals, it just says bridge explosion,
not today, bridge explosion, not.

Speaker 5 (05:40):
Today, not today, bridge explosion, not today. Satan.

Speaker 3 (05:46):
Well, listen, it's.

Speaker 2 (05:47):
Clear, I understood, and you get to go through the
muck in there and find out exactly why but not.

Speaker 6 (05:53):
Today, bridge explosion, not today.

Speaker 5 (05:58):
Have a bad case of.

Speaker 4 (06:01):
Schwarzenegger and true lies to bridge explosion. Why would they
write it? Like I guess they want us to be aware.

Speaker 5 (06:10):
Well I guess they do.

Speaker 3 (06:11):
Yeah, well, super helpful.

Speaker 5 (06:13):
Very all right.

Speaker 2 (06:14):
Well, and also we know about that Pittsburgh Walk of Fame,
but we're going to do that at six forty five today,
So if everybody is ready to know what the ten,
well you.

Speaker 5 (06:23):
Can do that.

Speaker 3 (06:24):
No, I don't want to, I don't want to jump that.
Let's do it together, Okay, all right.

Speaker 2 (06:28):
Taco Bell has voluntarily and temporarily removed certain ingredients from
menus at select restaurants as a precautionary measure due to
the outbreak of cyclospora.

Speaker 3 (06:39):
Social media posts indicate that.

Speaker 2 (06:41):
Lettuce, cilantro, onions, tomatoes, guacamole, and pico deagayo are temporarily
unavailable at mostly Midwest Taco Bell locations.

Speaker 3 (06:52):
I guess you have to choose your own adventure in
other ones.

Speaker 2 (06:55):
The move by Taco Bell exceeds current CDC guidance, which
advises washing produce but acknowledges the difficulty in avoiding cyclospora.
The CDC is investigating a multi state outbreak linked to
contaminated fresh produce, with symptoms including explosive diarrhea, fatigue, and
stomach cramps.

Speaker 6 (07:14):
I you know now, we're seeing the all of the
articles going you stop freaking out about cyclosphoria, like it's
not gonna happen. Well, I mean it's happening, but it
likely won't happen to you, and it's easy to avoid
and all that.

Speaker 5 (07:29):
I bought some frozen veggies yesterday.

Speaker 6 (07:31):
I'm surprised how many frozen veggies were still in the
in the freezer. That being said, the thing I did
read which I had not considered, is because this parasite
is so damn hard to kill that when people have it,
it goes back into the water system because oh no,

(07:53):
because it will it won't die, so our waste system
at like it's getting back into the water supply. And
then they irrigate the lettuce and stuff with that water again,
and those things won't die. Chlorine bleach will not kill them.

(08:13):
The only thing that kills them is heat one hundred
and fifty eight degrees. So you do have to just
cook your stuff. I mean, you know, nobody's gonna cook
berries or lettuce, but the other stuff, I just cook
it for a while.

Speaker 2 (08:27):
I threw away so much stuff yesterday because I realized
that when the nanny's helping my daughter with her like
lunch for camp today, that there were still strawberries blueberries,
like They're all just hanging out in the refrigerator.

Speaker 3 (08:43):
And I kept thinking, I'm like, well, why am I
leaving them there? No more, like I'm not eating them.

Speaker 2 (08:47):
It's just like I'm watching them rot in the refrigerator.
I mean like, oh, well, can't eat those, I know,
and I was just thinking, I'm like, oh.

Speaker 3 (08:53):
Man, what if they're like, you haven't fresh fruit in.

Speaker 2 (08:56):
Your right you know, I'm still in that time frame
the last time I had some leafy green.

Speaker 3 (09:02):
Yeah, I think you're a right breakdown.

Speaker 6 (09:04):
I think you'd start to have a few pangs. Yeah,
you'd feel like day six or something, you'd have some pangs.
I had some lettuce last weekend.

Speaker 5 (09:15):
That you know.

Speaker 6 (09:17):
I don't know exactly who's a giant eagle up north,
so I'm not exactly sure where the lettuce came from.

Speaker 5 (09:23):
But I think I should be fine.

Speaker 6 (09:24):
I would think you'd get a few pangs before the explosion,
don't you.

Speaker 5 (09:28):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (09:29):
I would hope there'd be some warning shots instead of
I don't know. Maybe that's the thing about explosive diarrhea.
You never really know.

Speaker 5 (09:36):
That might be why it has the name.

Speaker 6 (09:38):
Yeah, otherwise it would be progressive diarrhea, Bernie Sanders kind
of diarrhea.

Speaker 5 (09:47):
We lost another one, Sheila in sales. She was God
Speed Sheila.

Speaker 2 (09:56):
Performers like Tom Cruise, I Show Speed and Postal Alone
will be a part of the closing ceremony for the
World Cup. The ceremony aims to celebrate the journey of
the forty eight teams across sixteen host cities in three countries.
I Show Speed is listed as a performer, while Tom
Cruise will make a special appearance. Other performers at the

(10:17):
ceremony include Laura Paul the Sini, Nicole Schweiser from Used
to Be Pussycat.

Speaker 3 (10:25):
Dolls, Yeah, Robbie Williams, and Jennifer Hudson.

Speaker 5 (10:28):
Some big names there. What is I show Speed? I
know that guy?

Speaker 3 (10:32):
Do you not know?

Speaker 5 (10:33):
He was a twitch star? I guess, Jacob, you're younger
than us.

Speaker 6 (10:39):
Who the hell's I show Speed other than I know
he's a Twitter live streamer?

Speaker 5 (10:44):
What does he live stream his life?

Speaker 6 (10:47):
Okay, I don't know much about him, not like I
think it's like the biggest following on Internet.

Speaker 2 (10:53):
But he's listed as a performer, so he's apparently also
a musician.

Speaker 5 (10:58):
Stunts, Oh, it.

Speaker 4 (11:00):
Does gaming, Internet challenges and some stunts. Yeah, stunts is hilarious.
And now I will jump seven school buses.

Speaker 6 (11:11):
Uh okay, well, I would think you'd get better for
the World Cup, But what do I know?

Speaker 2 (11:15):
It says he's pursued a rapping career too, well, so
am I. But they didn't invite me.

Speaker 6 (11:20):
I'm just saying I could go sing the Summer Penis song.

Speaker 5 (11:24):
Yeah, they haven't asked.

Speaker 3 (11:26):
That's on them.

Speaker 4 (11:27):
We think it would be the ideal venue for Summer
Penis to sing it, to sing it and to show it.

Speaker 6 (11:33):
Oh Hollywood Bowl, Yeah yeah, outdoor because you need to
have the outdoor whether you can't be in air.

Speaker 5 (11:40):
Conditioning singing Summer Penis. No, no, no, that's a different one.
It's crazy. That's Acy Ween, completely different song.

Speaker 6 (11:48):
Acy Wiener, Well, Acy Wiener will be at the World
Cup celebration.

Speaker 2 (11:57):
William Shatner is that to perform a metal sound at
Chicago's riot Fest with an all star band backing The
ninety five year old Shatner expressed his excitement about the performance,
dating quote Riotfest is exactly the kind of place where
anything can happen. The backing band includes members of the
Nuclear Messiah collective such as Marcus Nand and bassist Phil Susan.

(12:21):
Shatner is working on a heavy metal album for Cleopatra Records,
featuring covers of Judas Priest songs and guest appearances from
Rob Halford and Mickey d.

Speaker 7 (12:34):
Check.

Speaker 6 (12:35):
There's like eighty six. He's ninety four rather Yeah, yeah,
I say, we've had him on the show for he's great.
My favorite is he goes into space in the Bezos
Rocket and he comes down and he's so affected by it. Yeah,
that he has this revelation about our smallness in the

(12:57):
universe and it is an an absolutely like existential moment
for him, and Bezos is like, what did you think?
And William Shatner is trying to explain the gravity of
the situation that he just endured and experienced and is

(13:18):
slowly becoming more profound speaking about it, and Bezos gets
bored and shakes up a bottle of champagne and pops
it in his face.

Speaker 5 (13:27):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (13:29):
Yeah, that clip is it's like, this is why we'll
never inhabit space. This is that's why we'll die on
the smoldering rock like a light jersey.

Speaker 6 (13:40):
Isn't the reason you're doing it for that guy to
have that revelation?

Speaker 5 (13:44):
Like, no, don't you want to hear what he had
to say? There?

Speaker 6 (13:47):
He's like boring, boring, boring in his head and he
pops champagne in an old man's face and he runs
over and puts his arm around his plastic lover.

Speaker 4 (13:58):
Yeah, it was just sad because you would think, I
don't know bezos at least pretend to be.

Speaker 5 (14:07):
It's gonna take you a one minute.

Speaker 6 (14:08):
Yeah yeah, listen to him, and he just couldn't do it.
You can google it if you want. It's just a
crazy interaction. Poor old man, Poor old man.

Speaker 2 (14:16):
I think what's interesting about the Shatner performance at Riotfest
is that Cleopatra Records had a rep that came out
and said that this is not gonna be some novelty act.

Speaker 3 (14:29):
This is not like Richard Cheese kind of thing.

Speaker 2 (14:31):
This is like a genuine rock show with world class musician.

Speaker 5 (14:36):
I love Chard Cheese. It's so funny to me.

Speaker 6 (14:42):
I don't know if is Richard Cheese the guy lounge
against lounge Yeah, okay, yeah, Richard.

Speaker 4 (14:47):
He's what's great is when he calls out people for
a solo, like, uh, well, he calls out this one
guy all the time.

Speaker 5 (14:54):
He goes Bobby.

Speaker 6 (14:58):
He's been in a bunch of movies too, like he's
done little he has. Yeah, he was in definitely in
Barbin Starr at Vista del Mar. I remember him singing
a song there, and god there's another movie that he's in.
But yeah, Richard cheese in lounge against the Mischine is
such a funny name.

Speaker 5 (15:17):
He's been at it for a long time now.

Speaker 2 (15:20):
I can't remember everything that was on that record, but
I know he did Closer from Nine Inch Nails.

Speaker 4 (15:25):
He did Yeah, he did some also that I don't
think would play now. But but we're just songs that
he sang in lounge style.

Speaker 5 (15:32):
There's no editorializing. He's just like, this was the song.

Speaker 6 (15:35):
He did the lego Batman movie soundtrack, and he did
Batman Versus Superman also, and donn of the Dead from
two thousand and four.

Speaker 5 (15:46):
He did Down with the Sickness. Oh yeah, that's one
of his hits.

Speaker 6 (15:49):
Yeah, why did you leave the keys up on the table?

Speaker 5 (15:56):
Old band? You wanted to?

Speaker 2 (16:00):
Hey?

Speaker 3 (16:00):
My body?

Speaker 2 (16:02):
All right? Finally, here, a seventy six year old woman
is now speaking out after the state of Florida sent
her a randomized license plate number.

Speaker 3 (16:10):
That appears to read squeeze ass.

Speaker 5 (16:14):
Oh my god, I saw this. It's so funny.

Speaker 2 (16:17):
Last year, Florida rejected one hundred and thirty vanity plate
applications for being two obscene for public roads.

Speaker 3 (16:23):
Then the state's own system.

Speaker 2 (16:25):
Generated a standard issue plate which read sqz A five
to five, which looked like squeeze ass, and mailed it
to the seventy six year old woman in Pompino Beach,
and nobody caught it until she did. Nancy Dello Stritro
did not need a dirty mind to read the plate,
and neither did her neighbors.

Speaker 3 (16:46):
Take a listen to her reaction. I don't think a
woman that lives in a senior community that's going to
be seventy seven years old next month, we'll be driving
around with what this plate has to say.

Speaker 8 (17:00):
Okay, prude, so kind of okay, Nancy, Sorry, yeah, I
don't know.

Speaker 5 (17:10):
I guess you're walled off that way. Squeeter ash come on.

Speaker 2 (17:17):
Barently her first instinct was to swap the plate immediately.
Broward County officials confirmed that she could get a free
replacement at the DAG office, no questions asked, no cost involved,
But her sons thought it was hilarious and her friends agreed,
so after talking it over, she reversed course entirely, and
she told CBS Miami that the racy tag might even

(17:39):
earn her extra honks from passing drivers. And she's taking
the Florida woman headline and making it her own rather
than fight it.

Speaker 5 (17:46):
Well, so I mean she really steered it into the
skin on this one.

Speaker 6 (17:50):
Because you don't have to go to the news if
you didn't want this to be something that drew a
lot of attention, I just kind of be quiet about it.
But now we all know your name, where you live,
and we know you're the ass squeezer.

Speaker 4 (18:08):
It's not that Yeah, the plate's not even that bad.
It's not like telling it's a fister.

Speaker 6 (18:15):
That you would want, depending yes, depending two knucks, I
need to have this change.

Speaker 5 (18:31):
It's a type of bird.

Speaker 2 (18:35):
Yeah, a lot of things seems like they've been able
to sneak through here. They kind of like Florida built
this entire bureaucratic fortress against things like this happening, and
it's kind of wild that they are so randomized and
they got squeeze ass. But the fortress has one notable
blind spot. It guards the front door while leaving the

(18:55):
back door. Why to it and that scrutiny targets vanity
played applications like some people who try to do things
like mister Dui or badass or like mister Duy.

Speaker 3 (19:07):
I can't believe that's on there.

Speaker 5 (19:10):
Mister Duy, please tell us why.

Speaker 2 (19:15):
All right, it's going to be hot today and there's
going to be hayes from the wildfire smoke, so unhealthy
air quality and poor visibility at times.

Speaker 3 (19:23):
It's a high of ninety three.

Speaker 5 (19:24):
All right, we'll rate our algorithms.

Speaker 6 (19:26):
We'll tell you about the Pittsburgh Walk of Fame, the
newest inductees, I Guess and Big Cat from Barstool Sports

Speaker 6 (20:08):
Yesterday by England and Argentina with the World Cup Championship
on the line, was one for the ages. One of
the best sporting events I've ever watched.

Speaker 12 (20:22):
Yeah, no, no argument, seriously, no argument whatsoever. Argentina advancing
to the World Cup Final in historic and dramatic fashion
with a two to one extra time victory over England.
It'll be Argentina against Spain at three o'clock on Sunday
for the World Cup Championship. Sports This hour brought to

(20:44):
you by Bridgeville Appliance. England took the lead at the
fifty five minute mark, Argentina countered at the eighty five
minute mark and then got the eventual game winner at
the ninety two minute mark.

Speaker 5 (20:56):
In extra time.

Speaker 12 (20:57):
England's coach is being crushed, and justifiably so, for turtling
after taking that one goal lead and just trying to
hatch a one nothing victory like an egg for thirty
plus minutes. I think they call that parking the bus
in soccer. But I got to put a lot of
the blame on the players as well, because you just,
no matter what your strategy, you got to execute it.

(21:20):
And you know, if you're good enough to make it
to the World Cup Final four, you ought to be
able to protect the one goal lead late. And it
was curious to me the one scoring chance England had
after it took that one nothing. Lead was when England
took the ball off Messi and got a fast break.
I think it was number seventeen and he waited a

(21:43):
little too long and he got a shot blocked, but
he ran the ball down.

Speaker 5 (21:46):
He was just outside the box. He had a great look.

Speaker 12 (21:50):
And you know, you're allowed to counter, you're allowed to defend,
not just back up.

Speaker 5 (21:56):
And I think they just panicked completely.

Speaker 6 (21:59):
I mean, dropping that many people at that point playing
prevent defense at that point against a team like Argentina.
And again, I don't want to come off as like
I'm some like years long, you know, international soccer expert,
but having watched a ton of the World Cup and
lots of postgame on this one, it seems like England

(22:20):
really screwed the pooch uh and they just allowed Messi
to do what he does. Like the one game plan
they said. Harry Kane was like, we talked all week
about he can't beat us. Messi can't beat us, and
then they gave him the opportunity to do that when
they all dropped.

Speaker 12 (22:36):
Back, Yeah, and they were actually you know, at some
point you got to attack the guy and try to
take the ball off from which they did at least once.

Speaker 5 (22:44):
I mean you got a couple penalties too, Yeah, he
drew a couple.

Speaker 12 (22:47):
I think it was a combination of a bad strategy
and the players just looking for somebody else to do.

Speaker 6 (22:52):
It, oh man, like they didn't want to. But also,
you know, credit to Argentina. I mean they were relentless,
no question. But it was like I I posted a
tweet about Lake after England scored. It reminded me of
blazing Saddles when the sheriff is going to shoot mango
and Gene Wilder's like, no, no, no, don't shoot them,
You'll only make them mad. Like after England scored. It

(23:14):
just it really little fire under Argentina, and you got
to watch about twenty minutes of incredibly intense sports.

Speaker 12 (23:22):
And that's Romo right. They've been doing an all tournament.
They're not dead to you drive the stake through no, yeah, yeah,
I mean they keep coming.

Speaker 5 (23:30):
Our three goal comeback against Egypt.

Speaker 12 (23:34):
You know, Argentina now and it's seventh World Cup final
and trying to join Italy in nineteen thirty four, in
nineteen thirty eight and Brazil in nineteen fifty eight. In
nineteen sixty two as the only countries to win back
to back World Cups. So you got this Argentina team
that just refuses to lose against Spain, which doesn't lose, doesn't.

Speaker 5 (24:00):
Give up goals. It's gonna be fun. It's gonna be
good stuff. On What time is that on Sunday? Three o'clock?

Speaker 12 (24:06):
Oh yeah, it's a good met Life Stadium, East Rutherford,
New Jersey. Saturday, France and England play in the third
place game.

Speaker 5 (24:15):
Why do they do that third place game? Yeah, I
don't know. I guess it used to matter if you
got third the humiliation because if you lose that.

Speaker 4 (24:29):
One didn't even meddle, you're really a disgrace.

Speaker 5 (24:33):
Yeah, that's probably something.

Speaker 12 (24:35):
Well, I don't know, we'll see what what kind of
crowd they get.

Speaker 5 (24:37):
That's at Miami Gardens, Florida.

Speaker 12 (24:40):
I guess if you're over here from one of those countries,
you're still gonna go.

Speaker 6 (24:46):
Oh yeah, Freddy, you'll go. Yeah.

Speaker 12 (24:51):
Major League Baseball cranks back up tonight the Mets at
the Phillies. Pirates Wait till tomorrow night, first of three
in Cleveland. Jared Jones against Gavin Williams the rest of
the Cleveland series. Braxton Ashcraft against Joey Cantillo on Saturday
afternoon and Paul Skeens against Tanner BBI on Sunday.

Speaker 5 (25:12):
I guess that's one way to do it.

Speaker 12 (25:14):
Skiings pitch Sunday five and a third Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
to four days off till Friday. I don't know, maybe
pitch on Friday so we can pitch again against the Yankees,
because he's supposed to be your best pitcher, of your
horse and all that.

Speaker 3 (25:27):
Also just entertainment for your fans.

Speaker 12 (25:29):
But you know, I got to protect them because someday
he's going to be pitching not against the Yankees, but
for the Yankees.

Speaker 5 (25:35):
As we found that that the All Star Game.

Speaker 12 (25:38):
NHL announced home openers for its expanded eighty four game schedule.
The league season starts on September the twenty ninth. Penguins
will wait till September thirtieth, when they visit Philadelphia. The
Penn's home opener is October the third, against the Canadians.

(25:59):
Penguins will also be the opponent for the Capitol's home
opener on October the seventh. Entire NHL schedules will be
released today. Anthony Mantha won't be playing in any of
the Penguin games this season, he signs a two year,
nine point five million dollar contract with the Devils.

Speaker 5 (26:15):
Good for him.

Speaker 12 (26:16):
He's thirty one, coming off of career year thirty three goals,
thirty one assists in sixty four points in eighty one games.
And I would not have invested anything in him, regarding
money or term.

Speaker 5 (26:29):
He just it was fun.

Speaker 12 (26:31):
Yeah, he helped him make the playoffs when nobody thought
they could.

Speaker 5 (26:34):
Thanks for everything. This guy's not going to take you anywhere,
so he goes to Jersey. Good for it.

Speaker 6 (26:42):
I don't know that they had that exact conversation. Hey,
you're not going to take us anywhere.

Speaker 5 (26:47):
I had sure I would, okay, And I don't know
why they needed to be said.

Speaker 6 (26:53):
We don't want to invest anything in you, and we
don't think you're going to take us anywhere.

Speaker 5 (26:58):
Thanks for stopping. You don't have to go home, but
you can't stay here. Okay.

Speaker 6 (27:03):
Nobody likes you, Yeah, sure I like them, fine, but
all right, you're a disagreeable person. Well there's a body
order issue.

Speaker 5 (27:15):
I slept with your wife. I'm just gonna get my stuff.
We took your stuff.

Speaker 12 (27:20):
You know, everybody thought you were a has been journeyman
last year and we took a flyer and it worked out.
But we're not going to expect that lightning to strike again.

Speaker 5 (27:29):
Abbam's got a news job of the hour.

Speaker 2 (27:31):
We're going to talk about Hollywood suffering from slop face,
and robot teachers are coming to schools.

Speaker 5 (27:38):
When we come back.

Speaker 6 (27:39):
The Pittsburgh Walk of Fame the latest entrance, and comedian
Frank Nikoto's suggestions for future Walk of Fame inductees.

Speaker 5 (27:49):
That's next on DJ.

Speaker 9 (27:50):
We don't know how to make the music, We just
know how to make it last longer. Chad Tyson kicks
off his show every weekday at three with a commercial
free were Od block afternoons on one oh two point
five dv E.

Speaker 5 (28:05):
Does your Driveway or Walkway? Just keep getting.

Speaker 6 (28:10):
Cd D Morning Shoe Radie. I'm in along with Mike Pursuda,
Abby Prisoner and Ted Whistle. Our buddy Joe Barnis live
in studio with us this morning too. Joey Be, good morning.
How are you pal?

Speaker 5 (28:19):
I'm doing fantastic.

Speaker 13 (28:20):
I have had a great couple of days and everything's
great until I think a bird ate some romaine lettuce.

Speaker 3 (28:28):
On your car or.

Speaker 6 (28:29):
Something yeah, came out like, oh yeah, either blue sky,
sunny day.

Speaker 5 (28:37):
Everything's great.

Speaker 6 (28:38):
Abby's got the list of the newest inductees into the
Pittsburgh Walk of Fame.

Speaker 2 (28:43):
Okay, yeah, so last year's initial group of inductees, if
you remember, we're George Benson, Nellie Bly, Andrew Carnegie, Rachel Carson,
Fred Rogers, doctor Jonah Salt, Andy Warhol, Roberto Clemente, August Wilson,
and Michael Keaton.

Speaker 3 (28:58):
So here is your new class.

Speaker 2 (29:01):
Myron Cope kicking that off, Frank o'harrisy, now both of us.

Speaker 5 (29:08):
You can't argue with either of those.

Speaker 6 (29:10):
Mary Olemieux, I mean absolutely, you know, obviously I'm not
crazy about being walked on.

Speaker 3 (29:17):
But you know, Jimmy Stewart, he's from Indiana.

Speaker 4 (29:22):
Interesting it sets president because it's not like he's from Indiana, PA.
And then he did all of his you know, noteworthy
career stuff in Pittsburgh. He's from Indo Indiana, PA. So
it casts a wide net on where they'll be selecting
people from in the future.

Speaker 3 (29:38):
I'm not okay with it.

Speaker 2 (29:39):
I'm kind of not okay with that one. I don't
really think there's a big Pittsburgh connection there none.

Speaker 4 (29:43):
Are we going to annex Steubenville to get Dean Martin
for this? That's probably gonna happen, and I'm not okay
with that either. Suonville's closer, arguably or as close.

Speaker 5 (29:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (29:56):
Arrett Vansini, composer.

Speaker 6 (29:59):
Oh, I thought the bread guy, the bad guy deserves it.

Speaker 5 (30:04):
Yes, I agree.

Speaker 12 (30:05):
Henry man Seen he's from Cleveland and he's a graduate
of Aliquippa High School.

Speaker 9 (30:09):
Okay, okay, all right, I guess yeah, Well you graduate
from Aliquippa, that's you.

Speaker 5 (30:16):
You deserve some sort of deserve.

Speaker 6 (30:19):
Fever County Hall of Okay, Well, yeah, yeah, Beaver County,
I'll allow for sure.

Speaker 5 (30:25):
Indiana County is I mean or is it? What? What
county is? Indian?

Speaker 6 (30:29):
Is it Indian Accounty? It better be Indiana County. Yeah,
that's too far.

Speaker 2 (30:33):
Charles Teeny Harris photographer, no question, probably the most unherlded
pittsburgher there is, uh in terms of his importance, his talent,
and his his output.

Speaker 6 (30:46):
If you've never gone to the Carnegie Museum and checked
out the Teeny Harris exhibit, you're doing yourself at the service.
There's also an online uh uh way to do it,
and you can check out a bunch of pictures.

Speaker 5 (30:59):
There are books.

Speaker 6 (31:00):
He is the basically only chronicler of a glorious time
in Pittsburgh's past, when the Hill District was like the
second or third biggest black community in the United States.

Speaker 5 (31:19):
It was like.

Speaker 12 (31:20):
Harlem Watts and the Hill and as influential as any Oh.

Speaker 6 (31:26):
My God from No Question and the GOSPA. Yeah, the
Pittsburgh Courier, Okay Courier. Uh. And that's who Teeny Harris
took pictures for. And he was brilliant. And it'll show
you a side of Pittsburgh that you probably didn't know existed,
and you'll be very sad doesn't still exist.

Speaker 14 (31:49):
H J.

Speaker 3 (31:50):
Hines makes the list.

Speaker 5 (31:51):
I mean it's hard to argue with that, right.

Speaker 3 (31:53):
Very much.

Speaker 2 (31:54):
George Westinghouse, there you go, inventor and industrialist.

Speaker 6 (31:59):
Yeah, you know, I got a little issue with Carnegie too, well,
a lot of people do, yeah.

Speaker 12 (32:07):
Being you know, he tried to buy his way into
heaven after but at least you did that.

Speaker 6 (32:14):
Well, these jackasses today are just hoarding all the money
and screwing the rest of the world.

Speaker 4 (32:19):
There's that local local accordion player Steve Pellegrino.

Speaker 5 (32:22):
He does like performance art.

Speaker 4 (32:23):
I don't know if you guys are familiar, but he
has a great song called Andrew Carnegie was a jag off.

Speaker 5 (32:30):
It's about remembering.

Speaker 4 (32:32):
Sure, we have all these libraries, we have all these
you know, these parks and things.

Speaker 5 (32:37):
But yeah, let's let's not forget.

Speaker 3 (32:42):
Shirley Jones.

Speaker 5 (32:43):
Oh departure family. Yeah, she was Miss Pittsburgh, Cartridge family.
She was Miss Pittsburg. That's what you associated is her accomplishment?
What do you associate with? Oh my god, she was
actors and star of stage screen?

Speaker 3 (33:00):
Are you thinking of Shirley maclain?

Speaker 5 (33:02):
No, Shirley. What else did Shirley Jones on Broadway?

Speaker 15 (33:06):
Was she?

Speaker 14 (33:07):
Oh?

Speaker 6 (33:07):
Yeah, Shirley Jones was hot in like the forties.

Speaker 5 (33:11):
She was Miss Pittsburgh.

Speaker 3 (33:13):
That's enough.

Speaker 5 (33:15):
That's enough for a start, right exactly.

Speaker 2 (33:18):
Martha Graham is the last on the list. Dancer and choreographer.

Speaker 5 (33:24):
I don't know. Martha Graham.

Speaker 2 (33:26):
Sounds like she created one hundred and eighty one ballets
and dance technique that expressed emotion through sharp angular movements
based on.

Speaker 3 (33:34):
Contraction and release.

Speaker 5 (33:39):
Yeah, it's all right.

Speaker 6 (33:42):
Charlie Jones was in the film adaptation of Oklahoma Carousel.

Speaker 5 (33:46):
The music Man. Okay, she's from Charleroi, all right, fine,
us better than a portugee.

Speaker 3 (33:53):
Well, but the Partridge Family's famous.

Speaker 6 (33:56):
Yeah, that o su Yeah, but it's in terms of
cultural impact. I mean she was in those musicals in
the fifties. Yeah, okay, I mean that's where she made
her bones. Well all right, but my reference is the seventies.

Speaker 5 (34:11):
Few checks for the Partridge Family. She was buying a
Ducci's mom.

Speaker 6 (34:15):
Yeah, and David Cassidy she's still alive too. Wait wasn't
she David Cassidy's dad only one?

Speaker 5 (34:21):
Yeh?

Speaker 13 (34:21):
She was on Tattledale. Mom, she was on Tattledale was
like every week because her husband was like a comic.
Jack Cassidy, I don't know.

Speaker 5 (34:32):
Six.

Speaker 6 (34:33):
Shirley Jones married actor and singer Jack Cassidy. They had
three sons, Sean, Patrick and Ryan. David was Jack's son
from his first marriage to Evelyn Ward. Okay, so that
became Shirley Jones' step son. Okay, that's interesting, But Sean
Cassidy was actually Shirley Jones's kid. Shawn Cassidy was also
a teen heartthrop Oh. Absolutely, he was a Tiger Beat favorite.

Speaker 5 (34:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 12 (34:56):
Nineteen sixty Academy Award for Elmer Gantry opposite Burt Lancaster.

Speaker 6 (35:01):
Marty Ingles is who you're thinking of it? Marty Ingles, Yeah,
he was like a low red Don Rickles.

Speaker 5 (35:06):
Yeah, something like that.

Speaker 3 (35:08):
Tad makes a good point. So Shirley Jones and.

Speaker 2 (35:10):
Larry mu are the two people who are alive on
the list.

Speaker 5 (35:14):
Neither of them are going to show up for this.

Speaker 3 (35:16):
You don't think Mux would show up?

Speaker 5 (35:18):
No, I don't think. What if he's already in town?

Speaker 2 (35:20):
It says Lemu is expected to attend the event. An
official induction ceremony is gonna take place on October the thirteenth.

Speaker 6 (35:25):
Hey, all of a sudden, the guy's coming back in
the down do an induction?

Speaker 5 (35:30):
I mean, if you want to give him stuff, well.

Speaker 6 (35:31):
You know, obviously I want to meet Charlie Jones for
her work on Broadway.

Speaker 13 (35:39):
Obviously, if you want people to show up, you gotta
have Lemouse show you got that big guy?

Speaker 5 (35:45):
Yeah, I mean, who's going to go down to see?
I mean a few people. Maybe the bread guy can
fill in for he's good. The Primandy Brothers got to
be on next year's ballot.

Speaker 6 (35:56):
But I mean, isn't it not Permanny, though, isn't the
original family something else or did the the family I'm
thinking of buy it from the original Primanny's.

Speaker 13 (36:08):
I'm not sure about that. At any rate, someone on
that family tree should be down there next year on
October thirteenth. Is there anything more Pittsburgh than Primanny's. Maybe
Andrew Carnegie and Lemieux that's about it.

Speaker 12 (36:23):
Yeah, yeah, maybe Mills left. Maybe we could have a riot.

Speaker 6 (36:30):
Oh yeah, just bring in the Pinkertons and do a
little Yeah.

Speaker 5 (36:33):
That cool.

Speaker 2 (36:34):
This is, you know, going back to Jimmy Stewart thing.
It's it says in the description lack of fame groups
driven by a group of civic, corporate and community leaders
who want to celebrate the celebrate the people of Pittsburgh
who have left their mark on America.

Speaker 5 (36:50):
So by that definition, Jimmy Stewart, it's not.

Speaker 3 (36:53):
But also, I mean we're going way outside of it.

Speaker 5 (36:57):
I agree.

Speaker 6 (36:57):
I totally agree, Abby, Okay for your edification. Primanny's opened
in nineteen thirty three, and it was Joe Primanny who
was born in Wilburding and he invented the restaurant sandwich.
During the depression. His brothers Dick and Stanley later joined him.
The Primanny's opened the restaurant at the corner of Smallman

(37:19):
in eighteenth the original one which still stands today.

Speaker 5 (37:22):
I do love that. That's the Permannis to go to.

Speaker 6 (37:27):
With the passing of Stanley Primanny in the early seventies
and John in seventy four, Dick decided to sell the
business to Jim Patrinos. That's who I was thinking of
in the seventies. Okay, so it was originally a Primanny. Yes,
and they should be on the Walk of Fame. I
agree with you on that, all right. Coming up a
little bit later on this morning, big cat guy Junker,

(37:48):
he should be on the Walk of Fame with Stan
savergn It should be standing guy, love the Star, Love
the Avenue, Yes, exactly, yes. And also we'll raise our
algorithms for you a little bit later on this morning.
And Abbey has a full news report when we come back.

Speaker 2 (38:04):
Hollywood is suffering from slop face, and robot teachers are
coming to schools.

Speaker 5 (38:09):
How about Gan.

Speaker 2 (38:10):
Armloy, Harry clo He's complained that that'd be cool.

Speaker 1 (38:14):
You should feel proud. You help make this, You build
the menu, you run the electric launch with your requests.
I see Wit weekdays at noon with Michelle Michaels on dv.

Speaker 7 (38:26):
iHeartRadio Station Guaranteed Human.

Speaker 5 (38:34):
I don't know if it is Richard. She's the guy
Lounge against Loud Machine. Yeah, okay, yeah, Richard.

Speaker 4 (38:40):
He's what's great is when he calls out people for
a solo, like he calls out this one guy all
the time.

Speaker 5 (38:47):
He goes Bobby.

Speaker 6 (38:50):
He's been in a bunch of movies too, like he's
done little Richard ch'es in Lounge against.

Speaker 5 (38:56):
The Machine is such a funny name. He's been at
it for a long time time now.

Speaker 2 (39:02):
I can't remember everything that was on that record, but
I know he did Closer from Nine inch Nails.

Speaker 4 (39:06):
He did, Yeah, he did some also that I don't
think would play now. But but we're just songs that
he sang in lounge style.

Speaker 5 (39:14):
There's no editorializing. He's just like, this is the song.

Speaker 6 (39:17):
He did the lego Batman movie and soundtrack, and he
did Batman Versus Superman also.

Speaker 5 (39:25):
And Don of the Dead from two thousand and four.
He did Down with the Sickness. Oh yeah, that's one
of his hits.

Speaker 6 (39:31):
Yeah, why did you leave the keys up on the table?

Speaker 1 (39:36):
Brandy Bellman and the DV Morning Show.

Speaker 6 (39:40):
This is Richard Cheese and Lounge against the Machine doing nookie.

Speaker 5 (39:46):
Check one, one two. I came into this world and
a recheck.

Speaker 4 (39:52):
Look into these eyes they see the size.

Speaker 5 (39:55):
Of these plays. Dwelling on the past, past, burning up
my brain. Everyone has to learn from the fame.

Speaker 16 (40:02):
Hey, I think about the day my girl he ran
away with my pay When fellas come a play.

Speaker 5 (40:10):
Like a chump hay, like a chump.

Speaker 16 (40:12):
Payne by chumpy.

Speaker 5 (40:16):
I get it.

Speaker 3 (40:17):
All theokies come onies, come on to.

Speaker 16 (40:20):
You that cookie.

Speaker 5 (40:24):
Yeah, there you go. All right.

Speaker 4 (40:29):
He was about to say, Bobby he did wap recently?

Speaker 6 (40:34):
No really, yeah, why no, He's a big act in
La Joe.

Speaker 5 (40:39):
Did you ever run into Richard Cheese? I have no.

Speaker 13 (40:41):
He never at n into Richard Richard Cheese. But I've
enjoyed him on this show a bunch on this show.

Speaker 6 (40:47):
Well, you guys play him a lot that never really
yeah never.

Speaker 5 (40:54):
This is a down with the sickness.

Speaker 6 (41:03):
This is from the record Sunny Side of the movie.

Speaker 2 (41:09):
You know the words a lot of these songs, he
just doesn't they're in there, in there yet.

Speaker 5 (41:15):
And then Richard Cheese just does.

Speaker 6 (41:16):
I don't know the words done with sickness. I'll be
honest with you, but I.

Speaker 3 (41:20):
Would have thought nobody's perfect.

Speaker 5 (41:21):
Get come on, get down with the sickness. Po Buddy's nerfect,
and he's got your news right now. I hope that dumped.

Speaker 3 (41:31):
I hope it did too.

Speaker 2 (41:32):
News This Hour brought to you by Keystone Basement Systems
Wet Basement, Keystone Basement Systems dot Com. It's partly sunny,
very hot today, but wildfire smoke will create unhealthy air
quality and poor visibility at times.

Speaker 3 (41:47):
It's going to be high of ninety three.

Speaker 2 (41:49):
Okay, So we were starting the show with this, we
got maybe butt cracked, I think by somebody else's information
that it wasn't happening today.

Speaker 5 (41:58):
You mean somebody in our building was completely wrong, no.

Speaker 6 (42:04):
Spectacularly as secularly wrong. To a Pittsburgh Hall Bridge explosion
not today.

Speaker 5 (42:15):
Bridge explosion, not today.

Speaker 2 (42:18):
But it seems like all of the other news outlets
are reporting that yes, it is today. The demolition was
postponed after eight pm last night, but apparently it is
supposed to occur today, which is Thursday.

Speaker 3 (42:32):
They did not.

Speaker 2 (42:33):
Provide a time, however, but a crowd of two hundred
people gathered Wednesday evening at the sumrset at Frick Park
residential development for a front row view of the bridge demolition.
Some stood on a stone wall for a better view.
The crowds assembled around the construction site. They soon dispersed
after the news spread by word of mouth.

Speaker 3 (42:53):
I like this quote.

Speaker 2 (42:56):
It's a bummer, but I came over here because I
had so much fun getting together with the people for
Big Boy last weekend, said Robert Malaise, who had been
playing the ukulele, saying I had to practice it anyway,
but sometimes it's fun.

Speaker 3 (43:08):
To practice in public a little.

Speaker 2 (43:10):
So that guy brought a ukulele to the bridge explosion
last night.

Speaker 3 (43:15):
Lumber for him.

Speaker 5 (43:17):
Randy, you missed out. I could tell you wanted to
be there.

Speaker 6 (43:20):
Nothing I'd like more than somebody who foists their ukulele
on me.

Speaker 2 (43:25):
When the bridge is demolished, Pendot's contractors will plant nine
two hundred and fifty trees and shrubs once the bridge
is open, including over a dozen native species like white
fur elderberry and American holly. The former vegetation was struggling
with vines and invasive species, so starting fresh might come
with a silver lining.

Speaker 5 (43:46):
Okay, yea great, all right.

Speaker 2 (43:49):
Think back to the last several decades of movie stars.
They tended to have pretty unique looks, like Al Pacino,
Sylvester Stallone, Meryl Streep, Nick Cage, Christopher Walken, Samuel Jackson,
Sandra Bullock. There was a time when celebrities didn't all
share a certain look.

Speaker 3 (44:07):
But a writer at the Hollywood Reporter.

Speaker 2 (44:08):
Thinks that that's changing, and today's stars all have a
sameness to them. The writer calls it Instagram face or
slop face. And here's where the blame lies, he says, quote.
The homogenization of Hollywood beauty standards is the result of
decisions by the gatekeepers of stardom, as well as by
stars themselves, who urge plastic surgeons, cosmetic dentists, and dermatologists

(44:33):
to achieve on trend looks that they hope will benefit
or extend their careers.

Speaker 3 (44:38):
Some of them might be our fault.

Speaker 2 (44:39):
As our rude social media comments push celebrities to change
their looks. Because the writer somewhere in here calls Rachel
McAdams brave for keeping her beauty marks.

Speaker 6 (44:49):
Yeah, we've really got to stop using that word in
terms of anything to do with celebrity, brave, brave.

Speaker 5 (44:58):
I don't disagree.

Speaker 6 (45:00):
I also think that this has something, This is something
that has always happened. It's just that the common look
in face of the late fifties, sixties celebrity and movie
star was a glamorous look.

Speaker 5 (45:16):
But if you look at those pictures.

Speaker 6 (45:18):
Like you know, there's that famous picture of Sophil Urn
and Jane Mansfield and they're sitting next to each other
and Sophil Lurin's looking over to Iraq.

Speaker 5 (45:25):
Like Jesus, yeah.

Speaker 6 (45:27):
And if you look at both of theirs, they like
they look like they could be sisters, Like their hair
is the same and their makeup, their face, like, I
think that's always been a thing.

Speaker 5 (45:38):
It's just that the thing now.

Speaker 6 (45:41):
Is everybody looks at entertainment through their phone and through
their apps, and so people are trying to achieve that
look just walking around, whereas they used to try to
achieve the on a big movie screen look.

Speaker 5 (45:58):
Yeah that resonate at all or no, No.

Speaker 3 (46:01):
It definitely does.

Speaker 2 (46:03):
It's just like we don't even see stars that have
less than perfect teeth, you know, which I think is
important for film. You need characters, right, you need people
that represent something that looks like real life. But people
don't have bald spots anymore. They don't have big noses,
they don't have just like something or a BMI over thirty.

Speaker 6 (46:26):
Yeah, like Gene Hackman could not be a movie star
today the way he was when he started in the
French Connection. They just don't make movies like he wouldn't
be Batman. Gene Hackman is Batman with a gut is hilarious.

Speaker 7 (46:41):
You know what I mean?

Speaker 6 (46:42):
Like they just like Watermouth Owl. There's no movie he's in. No,
that's true. That is true.

Speaker 4 (46:47):
Slap Face would be the great name for a villain
and a Dick Tracy.

Speaker 6 (46:51):
Read were you slap Face? Did you ever watch the
Dick Tracy movie that Warren By? He did not recently,
but as a kid it was on. I watched it
as a kid. I've not gone back and watched it,
and I saw someone posting about rewatching it and just
how crazy the entire thing is.

Speaker 5 (47:10):
You forget Madonna's in that.

Speaker 3 (47:12):
Oh I did not see that.

Speaker 6 (47:14):
Yeah, and she was also very at the height of
her willing to do anything for art. So apparently it
is just a very not quite pop Eye level of crazy.
But when you watch it now. It's like, how did
they do this? And there's a ton of stars, isn't it?
Like al Pacina, Warren Baty, Dustin Hoffman and Madonna.

Speaker 3 (47:36):
When you say how did they do this?

Speaker 2 (47:38):
You mean because it's ridiculous and bad?

Speaker 3 (47:42):
Or because like, yes, they were doing something pioneering.

Speaker 5 (47:46):
No, because it's bad.

Speaker 6 (47:48):
Oh, like the Dick Van Dyke's in it, Glenn Headley,
Kathy Bates.

Speaker 5 (47:54):
Is also in it. Paul Servino dude from nineteen ninety
might have to go back and watch that.

Speaker 3 (47:59):
One, all right.

Speaker 2 (48:02):
If your kid isn't having nightmares about robots yet, they
might if they go to this school. The Salamanca City
School District in western New York will deploy a new
kind of teacher to greet students this fall, a full
on humanoid robot. A robot named Sally will not replace
the classroom teacher, but it's programmed to provide learning support

(48:22):
to both students and educators. So Sally will have a
life like appearance with silicon skin.

Speaker 3 (48:32):
And long brown hair.

Speaker 2 (48:33):
She'll be stationary in a seated position, but will have
a range of upper body movements and facial expressions.

Speaker 3 (48:41):
Oh oh oh oh oho oho.

Speaker 6 (48:45):
If it's in Salamanica. It'll probably also be a slot machine.

Speaker 2 (48:51):
Sally, the robot won't use the students' names.

Speaker 17 (48:54):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (48:55):
That might be due to privacy concerns, So the kids
will have to address themselves with a number, so they'll
be able to say, Hi, Sally, I'm student number one, two, three, four,
And then Sally would be like, Okay, we were talking
about this yesterday.

Speaker 3 (49:08):
Do you want to continue that conversation? I just love
touching them.

Speaker 5 (49:12):
No, No, I can't do that.

Speaker 6 (49:15):
No, I'm blugger, blugger back in dump water on her.

Speaker 2 (49:22):
She can also support the teachers by interjecting if the
teacher forgets where they're at in a lesson plan or
accidentally skips over something.

Speaker 3 (49:30):
I'm sure they'll love that.

Speaker 5 (49:31):
That won't be annoying for teachers.

Speaker 2 (49:33):
Nope, And Sally is costing the district around fifty seven
thousand dollars, which is discounted from the normal price of
ninety five thousand dollars.

Speaker 3 (49:43):
Cash me outside. How about that.

Speaker 5 (49:47):
Sally's had enough with the kids.

Speaker 3 (49:49):
What's the yeah, I think they needed to murder that person.

Speaker 5 (49:52):
No way, not interjections. You should have so, I mean.

Speaker 3 (49:57):
That's grosser than something I would do.

Speaker 2 (50:01):
I'm not sure why they need to have a robot
as an assistant.

Speaker 5 (50:05):
Yeah, maybe give the kids some school lunches.

Speaker 2 (50:08):
I have an idea. But if yeah, they're not starving
when they're learning, yeah.

Speaker 5 (50:13):
Or pay a teacher. No, yo, I do that.

Speaker 2 (50:17):
What if we take the devices out of their hands
for every single thing that they do?

Speaker 5 (50:21):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (50:21):
Well, isn't there a Pennsylvania law they're considering about getting
rid of the devices.

Speaker 2 (50:27):
Certain school districts have responded to the research that that
is not a good learning tool for kids, and it's
not even a good test taking tool.

Speaker 5 (50:37):
So like using iPads and interface like that.

Speaker 2 (50:39):
Yeah, like everybody gets a chromebook as soon as like
fourth grade starts, Like I've already gotten I already have
the email from school saying like, hey, time to pick
up your kid's chromebook.

Speaker 3 (50:49):
For the year.

Speaker 5 (50:50):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (50:51):
But they do so much work homeworks on the devices,
they're using them during the day, when they're taking tests,
they're using them, and their research is just showing that
there is some element of attentiveness that they're not getting
from kids because they have access to that. But that
also some people learn repetition just by writing things down

(51:13):
or just by listening in a focused way, and that's
what the devices are starting to hinder. So certain school
districts have decided to take it out in advance of
any kind of law or legislation with it.

Speaker 3 (51:26):
I think they should all.

Speaker 2 (51:28):
I would love for them to go as a parent,
just I know that Edie complains about even taking tests
on a screen. I think about that too, Like you know,
when you're taking standardized tests and you you know, have
your number two pencil and you're filling in the circles
and everything, you have to think about things a little
bit more. When you're doing it on a screen, you
screw up and it's like, no, that question's gone.

Speaker 3 (51:47):
Can't fix it.

Speaker 6 (51:47):
By you would think it would be less expensive. Also,
so if it's something that is more effective and less expensive,
why wouldn't we embrace that.

Speaker 2 (51:59):
And I don't have a problem with computer classes where
they're getting their hands on it, because it's like you
don't want them to walk into society and be like type.
So it's just like I still want them to have
access to it, but maybe more controlled.

Speaker 4 (52:12):
What you said about the test taking Abbey is like,
as someone who as a student who never knew the
material you always could get two extra answers correct on
the test when you would go back and contextually it
was answered later yes, But to not be able to
do that on a digital exam would screw up the curve. Yes,

(52:33):
that's a good point. Prevent me from getting the D
I need.

Speaker 5 (52:38):
You can't remember like there's too many c's. It's got
to be a B.

Speaker 3 (52:42):
Yeah, yes, exactly, Yeah, all right.

Speaker 5 (52:47):
The D I need by Ted Whistles, all right.

Speaker 2 (52:53):
Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey is looking to get off to
a huge start at the box office this weekend. The
film was expected to make between ninety and one hundred
million dollars in its debut. If it hits one hundred million,
it would be the third to do so this year,
after Toy Story five and the Super Mario Galaxy movie.

Speaker 3 (53:11):
The movie is the.

Speaker 2 (53:12):
First ever to be entirely shot with IMAX cameras, and
will benefit financially from premium format options, including seventy millimeter screens.

Speaker 6 (53:22):
I mean, this looks so good to me, and I
have not been excited about a movie in a long time,
but the fact that it's Nolan and Matt Damon, who
I think is probably at the height.

Speaker 5 (53:34):
Of his powers right now, you know.

Speaker 6 (53:37):
And he talked about Matt Damien did about how Ben
Affleck had such an emotional reaction to seeing The Odyssey
and it was like the most gratifying thing that has
ever happened in his career.

Speaker 18 (53:49):
Yeah, forty five year friendship and we've been through a
whole hell of a lot together and he's, you know,
one of the great loves of my life.

Speaker 19 (53:58):
I will say about Ben And.

Speaker 6 (54:00):
What was his reaction, by the way, when he watched
the movie, what did he say?

Speaker 18 (54:03):
I got a phone call from him that I think
I've been waiting forty five years to get it. He
didn't stop talking for an hour. It was like he'd
seen the movie twenty times. He got absolutely everything, every detail.

Speaker 19 (54:17):
He just he somehow soaked it all in.

Speaker 18 (54:19):
And one viewing, you know, that reaction and my wife's reaction.
And then my daughter Isabella, who saw it, is one
of my daughters who've seen it so far.

Speaker 19 (54:30):
She said, Dad, I'm proud of you.

Speaker 18 (54:32):
Now, this is a kid who I made a movie
called The Great Wall once and she calls it The Wall.
And we have friends over for dinner. She keeps talking
about this movie The Wall, and I'm like Isabella, it's
called The Great Wall, and she's like, Dad, no, there's
nothing great about that movie.

Speaker 19 (54:47):
So she is a very.

Speaker 18 (54:48):
Tough critic, and so so those reactions kind of.

Speaker 19 (54:52):
I feel like the movie's already coming to you.

Speaker 14 (54:55):
One.

Speaker 19 (54:55):
Yeah, you one.

Speaker 6 (54:57):
He's talking to Zendaya there, Zendaia whatever. It's so strange
the way that movies are promoted now. There's like these
it's almost like a pop up podcast and they just
put the stars together somewhere and then they they don't
need to go on the Today Show, they don't need
to do all this stuff. They can just put out
videos that'll go viral of them controlling the narrative. And

(55:18):
this is happening in all forms of entertainment, sports, movies.

Speaker 3 (55:21):
I think it's having in music a lot.

Speaker 5 (55:23):
Oh yeah, definitely right.

Speaker 2 (55:25):
I was just talking to Tad before the show started
about a band that I like that has no record label,
basically has a distribution deal and a publicist that just
kind of tells them what to do everything else they
film it, they needs to do whatever, and they're almost
doing better, it seems than the kind of artists that

(55:46):
would be like, oh yeah, no, we have a record label.
We owe them seventy five thousand dollars for that music
video we kind of didn't want to make.

Speaker 3 (55:53):
Yeah, so you're just not beholden to anybody. But why
wouldn't you do it that way?

Speaker 13 (55:59):
I thought for sure to say, I've been waiting forty
five years to get a phone call where Ben Affleck
didn't talk about himself for an hour.

Speaker 5 (56:06):
Stupid love life.

Speaker 14 (56:10):
I know.

Speaker 6 (56:10):
It is funny when Ben Affleck's like, yeah, you know,
I'm a real private person and I just don't want
to even be a part of the whole Hollywood machine.
It's like, I don't know, man, every decision you've made
kind of tells me something different.

Speaker 4 (56:24):
The problem with the movies like The Odyssey for me
is I'm not gonna see it in theaters, and then
your movie snob friends are gonna be like, oh, you're
not gonna see it in imax, but don't even watch
it then, right, Oh you can't watch it if you're
not gonna watch it in imax.

Speaker 3 (56:38):
Yeah, you're gonna use your TV sound.

Speaker 5 (56:43):
It's not like you're gonna read the book.

Speaker 3 (56:51):
All right. It's partly sunny.

Speaker 2 (56:52):
Wildfire smoke will create unhealthy air quality and poor visibility today,
so I have ninety three.

Speaker 6 (56:57):
Oh so there's that. Yeah, it's just a little wildfire.
Small got there, No big deal, there are fires out here.

Speaker 5 (57:04):
Nothing. This is a this is a cigarette later.

Speaker 6 (57:06):
Have you seen any of the footage of these Ontario fires.

Speaker 5 (57:10):
It's it's insane. The I just retweeted one.

Speaker 6 (57:14):
If you want to check out at d v Randy
that a remarkable Look at that, Joey B look at
this stuff.

Speaker 5 (57:21):
I mean Canada.

Speaker 6 (57:23):
Yeah, okay, I think there was some fires around here. No,
it's the smoke from coming down. There's a there's a
video that went viral of a train that became engulfed
in flames. It is terrifying looking. And the train had
to turn around, It had to stop, come to a stop.

(57:44):
You've seen it, right, Tad. Oh my goodness. Yeah, the
train had to turn around once it came to a stop,
go the other direction.

Speaker 5 (57:52):
They could only get so far.

Speaker 6 (57:54):
They had to run on foot three miles to safety
as the flames overtook the train. Woh, like it is
new jokes. So it's like California fires. It's definitely like that, Joe.
You got to look at the videos. It's like coming
across the lake and it's it's covering all of like

(58:16):
you know, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York down into DC, Maryland.
It's significant wo and it looks like it's going to
go through Friday. So anybody that has you know, compromised
uh situations with breathing might want to consider that, which
is a drag because you know, it's right when it's

(58:38):
never on Monday, it's always like right before the weekend.
By the way, I can't go outside this weekend.

Speaker 2 (58:43):
Yeah, I used my puff this morning.

Speaker 6 (58:46):
Yeah, they're saying, uh, and ninety five masks in the
area they have you can go search the map on
like weather dot Com even has them and they have
different colors. And Pittsburgh kind of just escapes the really
extreme stuff and a lot of the models. So hopefully
that remains the case and you want have to walk
outside with a mask on?

Speaker 5 (59:07):
Do you remember, I don't think, I don't know.

Speaker 6 (59:10):
Were you with us when we went to Kennywood that
one time and we had to go inside.

Speaker 5 (59:14):
I think it was right before you joined the show.
We were doing a Kenny Wood show and it was
supposed to be outside.

Speaker 2 (59:19):
It was twenty twenty three.

Speaker 6 (59:22):
And we had to move it all inside because it
was unsafe to be outside. And I was like, well,
this was a bad day to pick for our Kennywood
day because it's hazardous to just be outside without a mask.

Speaker 5 (59:33):
That's crazy.

Speaker 4 (59:34):
Yeah, we're to even go inside at Kennywood.

Speaker 6 (59:37):
The gold Mill Hiway, Yeah right, hideaway thirty times.

Speaker 5 (59:42):
We're in Noah's Ark. We just basically all piled in there.

Speaker 3 (59:45):
That actually would be kind of fun.

Speaker 1 (59:47):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (59:48):
Yeah, guys, I'm having a seizure. Mike's got your sports.
When we come back, Argentina best's England. They'll be in
the World Cup Final Sunday against Spain. Man was that
a hell of an entertaining game? Plus we got Big.

Speaker 5 (01:00:03):
Cat coming up.

Speaker 6 (01:00:04):
We'll rate our algorithms for you at seven forty five.

Persuda with free takes that resonates.

Speaker 5 (01:01:20):
With your three takes, Take number one the thrill of Victory.

Speaker 12 (01:01:25):
England collapsed at the confluence of bad tactics and coming
up small in the biggest moments, but the British pulling
another York Town should in no way diminish the absolute
magic enacted by Argentina in general and Lionel Messi in particular.
Yesterday in Atlanta, pick An adjective, any adjective brilliant seems

(01:01:45):
to fit the appropriate vernacular of the pitch. It still
won't do Argentina and Messi justice. The old man still
has it, and he led his team back from the
brink with a relentlessness that was as compelling as it
was Champ and Ship caliber. What was on display in
a nutshell is what we love about sports, even soccer.

Speaker 5 (01:02:08):
Take number Two's gotta get a little shot at.

Speaker 12 (01:02:11):
Take number two, buck up, Buttercup closer to home.

Speaker 5 (01:02:15):
Delayed reactions to Team.

Speaker 12 (01:02:16):
USA's four to one Sweet sixteen loss to Belgium are
pouring salt in the wound as the World Cup crescendos
to conclusion. Goaltender Matt Freeze, who contributed an unimaginable gaff
on the way to what became an embarrassing US exit,
told ESPN the subsequent criticism has been quote difficult for
me to hear unquote, and that it quote hurts my

(01:02:39):
heart unquote, that people don't know how badly the US
wanted to succeed, and Falarin Belogan told CBS the quote
outside noise unquote generated by his on again off against
suspension was quote hard to avoid unquote If the US
really wants to do better next time, perhaps the first
step toward redemption would be to find guys who aren't

(01:03:03):
baby pooh Soft.

Speaker 5 (01:03:07):
Baby Pooh Soft was a great Korean pitcher, and they're
also going to be in a coffee house tomorrow.

Speaker 12 (01:03:16):
Take number three perspective on a phenom as Merlin Valdez
is at three h nine with ten homers, twenty seven
RBI and a one point zero four OPS through his
first twenty eight games. Impressive numbers by any comparison, yes,
but for context with the potential to knock your socks off,
consider Jordan Alvarez hit three twenty seven with ten homers,

(01:03:39):
thirty two RBI and a one point zero eighty five
OPS in his first twenty eight games in the majors. Alvarez,
now in his eighth big league campaign, might win a
triple crown this season. Yeah, it's a miniscule sample size.
I get that, But we can still dream, can't. We
gonna have to. By the way, I hate ripping the

(01:04:01):
US soccer players who had the fortitude to wear the
jersey and represent our country, but with that comes responsibility
during the game and after the game, agreed, we got
beat we'll try to do better next time. Yeah, the
excuse making makes me puke.

Speaker 6 (01:04:18):
You didn't like all of the the the criticisms being
hurled at Polisic.

Speaker 5 (01:04:26):
No, it's fine with it. That's it's part of it.

Speaker 12 (01:04:30):
You know, if you want to walk out on the wire,
you might fall off. I respect your fortitude, but you
got to handle it. It's like women's sports. They don't
want to be criticized. Then all of a sudden, it's
the problem you want to be.

Speaker 13 (01:04:41):
If you don't think the basketball team would have been excoriated,
I think that's a big word for me.

Speaker 5 (01:04:46):
Good if they lost, Yeah, you.

Speaker 13 (01:04:48):
Know, hey, you lost, you're gonna get criticized by Caitlyn
Clark got absolutely destroyed again last night and there was
no call.

Speaker 6 (01:04:55):
I don't know why. They're just all beating the hell
out of her. It's kind of funny to watch they well,
they know Madden's theory, but.

Speaker 3 (01:05:04):
Yeah, I know, I think it's I don't and I
don't know.

Speaker 5 (01:05:06):
That either of those is the majority reason why.

Speaker 6 (01:05:09):
So much as I think it's just like there's an
entitlement that they hate that they perceive, whether it's true
or not. But it seems to me, they're they're shooting
the Golden Goose. I do agree that.

Speaker 5 (01:05:20):
You know.

Speaker 6 (01:05:20):
Look, you know, it wasn't like people loved Larry Bird.
You know, Oh they sure did well. No, I mean
in the league playing against him.

Speaker 13 (01:05:29):
Oh no, I have most of my algorithm is of
blackfellas saying how great Larry Bird was.

Speaker 6 (01:05:35):
When they like, yeah, Sean Camp and all those guys,
you know, talking about how Larry would like say to
them basically like I'm dropping thirty on YouTube. Oh yeah,
it's got the greatest stories. Yeah yeah, well that's now.
Back then it was pretty physical. If those guys were
as physical in today's NBA as they were in the
eighties and nineties, people would die because everybody is this
insane physical specimen in the NBA.

Speaker 5 (01:05:57):
Now, Yeah, I don't know. Bad boys were pretty physical, I.

Speaker 6 (01:06:00):
Know, but I'm saying, you know, Lambier, Kermit Washington was
pretty okay, Maurice Lucas from Shenley, he could be on
the Walk of Fame, I know, but you get my point, Like,
these dudes now are monsters. And if someone Kermit Washington,
somebody in today's NBA act, I don't know.

Speaker 5 (01:06:18):
I'm just saying the.

Speaker 6 (01:06:20):
Training has these guys, you know, head to toe muscle
in year round working out. You know, I think Larry
Bird worked on his farm in the off season and
you know, shot free throws back. He heard his back
ass folding his driveway. His mom's yeah, like yeah, but
his dad got a tractor. Oh wait, that was in
Blue Chips. Okay, when of the buckoes back at it

(01:06:45):
Friday in Cleveland.

Speaker 13 (01:06:46):
All right, you need it so bad, Ran, you're watching
Caitlyn Clark highlights.

Speaker 5 (01:06:50):
Right now, wildfires and WNBA and all. I got a.

Speaker 12 (01:06:54):
Little more perspective on Argentina in the knockout rounds. Beat
Cape Vere in the hundred and eleventh minute, that got
the game, eventual game winning goal in the hundred and
eleventh minute. Against Egypt, it was in the ninety second minute,
Against Switzerland it was in the hundred and twelfth minute,
and against England it was in the ninety second minute.

(01:07:15):
Argentina has not led after ninety minutes in a knockout game.

Speaker 5 (01:07:19):
Wow, and Argentina's playing for the World Cup Sunday. It's amazing.

Speaker 13 (01:07:23):
Do you guys feel like I mean, I do, like
I I really love love, I enjoy soccer a lot
that Messi is just so good. It's like when people
would watch like Lemieux, like you don't have to know
much to know that guy's the best. Yeah he was
like Messi's that good. He was going one on three
all yeah, yeah and winning more than he lost.

Speaker 5 (01:07:42):
And he's such a short guy. I mean, that's you know,
kind of stock.

Speaker 6 (01:07:45):
Yeah yeah, but it's just weird to see somebody that
diminutive out there dominating. You know, there's not too many,
you know, he's like the muggy Bogues of soccer.

Speaker 5 (01:07:54):
There's a lot of big guys in soccer though, right.

Speaker 6 (01:07:56):
Bigger now, but yeah, no, I mean that horrifically from
Norway side, that dude, the Viking. Yeah go look at
Ghana's entire team, just like a bunch of redwoods walking around.

Speaker 5 (01:08:08):
Man last night on the SPS.

Speaker 6 (01:08:10):
Which you know, it's like then the Deer of the
Sports year is All Star Game in.

Speaker 5 (01:08:17):
SP's is just like all right, this week sucks.

Speaker 19 (01:08:20):
Uh.

Speaker 6 (01:08:21):
They had Mike Tyson come out last night. He issued
an award to show a otani. He's on stage with
DJ Khaled and Jake Paul. Uh So, that's that's quite
a trio. Tyson Jake Paul and DJ khaled Uh and
he gives us a word to Otani and listen at
the end when he hears Jake Paul said Otani couldn't

(01:08:41):
be here, but he says thanks and and Tyson realizes
Otani is a guy.

Speaker 21 (01:08:47):
And he in fb wol goes to check out show
a Atani.

Speaker 5 (01:09:01):
Show, Hey could not be here tonight.

Speaker 6 (01:09:03):
He sends his gratitude and appreciation at ESPN and everyone
who voted for him.

Speaker 11 (01:09:08):
Sure he's a cut.

Speaker 5 (01:09:12):
Oh my god, he's a guy. He I thought it
was a cartoon. Abby. You'll have your news coming up

Dead Whizzle and our buddy Joe Bartnick live in studio
with us this morning, and it's time for a segment
we call rating the Algorithm.

Speaker 22 (01:10:11):
We're all right, So you know this is a little
peering into each other's respective algorithms to see what the

(01:10:32):
tech bros think we all should respectively be watching.

Speaker 5 (01:10:36):
Mike, let's start with you. What's in your algorithm this week?

Speaker 12 (01:10:39):
You know, my algorithm must know that I think Rocky
is one of the greatest movies ever made because it
sent me the trailer for a new movie which I
had no idea was coming, called I Play Rocky, and
it is about the behind the scenes story of the
making of Rocky One.

Speaker 5 (01:11:01):
How far behind the schedule are they?

Speaker 7 (01:11:03):
They're not.

Speaker 23 (01:11:08):
This movie.

Speaker 24 (01:11:09):
It's about having a boy for yourself.

Speaker 5 (01:11:11):
Carry audio.

Speaker 24 (01:11:12):
It's about going to this. I put my heart and
soul on the page. If I'm not willing to live
up to what I wrote, and what's the point. So
do you believe in me.

Speaker 14 (01:11:30):
Or not?

Speaker 5 (01:11:36):
I thought you say you could box let go of
the Hey, I'm gonna ask my god, damn it? You
always like all right, I mean a couple of things.

Speaker 6 (01:11:49):
Why was that audio so awful?

Speaker 5 (01:11:53):
It came on my Twitter and I sent it to
Jake because that was the best we could do. Uh.
The second thing is the dude who's playing stallone. Hey, Romano,
you never all right?

Speaker 3 (01:12:07):
I thought you said your cud box.

Speaker 5 (01:12:12):
They never go full stallone.

Speaker 3 (01:12:14):
Yeah, it's full stallone. That might type cast him.

Speaker 6 (01:12:17):
Yeah, you're excited for it, though, I know very Yeah,
not excited for any movie as much as any movie
since the.

Speaker 5 (01:12:24):
Springsteen Movie, since the making of the making of the
Springsteen Movie.

Speaker 6 (01:12:27):
It's my wheelhouse and it is your wheelhouse, Abby, what's
in your algorithm?

Speaker 3 (01:12:30):
I got a music one today.

Speaker 2 (01:12:33):
Eighteen in Life from skid Row is a song you'd
certainly hear quite a bit on DVE. But did you
ever consider the lyrics? Should Ricky have gotten life?

Speaker 25 (01:12:45):
He fired six shots into the wind and then a
child blew a child away. He didn't mean to kill
his friend. That was accidental. That's manslaughter, that's not murder one,
that's not capital murder. He would never get life. He
had the wrong attorney. If Ricky got a real herny
that that is an easy one to walk any any

(01:13:08):
public pretender to get him off with at least manslaughter.
In no way in hell is Ricky get life without parole.
I don't know why that just.

Speaker 5 (01:13:22):
Dawned on me. Ricky should have This is deep.

Speaker 25 (01:13:26):
Ricky should have gotten fifteen years tops tops.

Speaker 5 (01:13:33):
I mean, it's a good point.

Speaker 3 (01:13:34):
It's a very good point.

Speaker 5 (01:13:35):
He's a good point, Tad. What is in your algorithm
this week?

Speaker 4 (01:13:39):
Remember when celebrities used to do PSAs in character is
their most.

Speaker 5 (01:13:43):
Uh you know, their most common role?

Speaker 4 (01:13:46):
Well, the algorithm has a very low opinion of me
and wouldn't even give me the full PSA. But here's
Henry Winkler as Arthur Fonzarelli with a very important message.

Speaker 14 (01:13:55):
Did you know what your adoptor needs your parents' permission
to examine you, to touch you?

Speaker 17 (01:14:00):
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah, he can't
just touch.

Speaker 5 (01:14:12):
Him, be witchy?

Speaker 6 (01:14:16):
Did that talk to give you your pamish permission before
you fundled your funds of release?

Speaker 13 (01:14:23):
You know, sit on it, Joey B. What's in your
algorithm this week? Well, you know, I have a love
of beer commercials all the time. I love vintage beer commercials,
and I have a classic Iron City one which kind
of hits home right now, because times might be financially
tough for a few of us out there, and it
has a little bit of math.

Speaker 19 (01:14:45):
My nephew is the stockbroker.

Speaker 5 (01:14:47):
Every time he sees he tells me to buy bye today,
he asks who. He says, yunk, what's your best deal
on there?

Speaker 26 (01:14:54):
So I tell him invest in the case of Iron
City and sixteen ounce re turnable bottles. You get a
third more beer without spending a third more money. To me,
that's a terrific way to fight inflation and enjoy it too.
So he says, iron City returnables. Huh, And you know
what I tell him?

Speaker 7 (01:15:11):
Bye? Ay?

Speaker 6 (01:15:14):
Yes, that guy sound like Richie Aprile a little bit. Yeah,
it's the jacket Okay, guy in Essex, Kinnie. This one
is from my algorithm and I like this. It's one
of those you know, women think men are having all
of these you know, conversations about you know, important things

(01:15:37):
or how they're screwing around whatever, and it's like what
guys are actually talking about when they get together.

Speaker 15 (01:15:43):
If you're a guy and you have sex with a
female robot, but the female robot is being controlled by
another guy, are you gay? But the robot looks like
a girl, Like let's say the robot looks like a girl, like,
are you gay or not? Only if you know it's

(01:16:04):
a guy, all right, I really like that. So basically
it's like a Schrodinger's gay.

Speaker 6 (01:16:16):
If it's being controlled by a guy.

Speaker 5 (01:16:20):
I don't know. I think it's gay, do you? I mean?

Speaker 6 (01:16:23):
But but we're not talking robot like you know ten, like.

Speaker 27 (01:16:27):
Like the ones that are silicon yep insane, really authentic
looking real dolls, except it's being controlled by your guy
with a joystick.

Speaker 4 (01:16:39):
What if it's not your buddy who's an or someone
who's very into it, it's a guy whose job it
is to control sex robots, And for him it's like
I'm here to fix the dryer.

Speaker 3 (01:16:52):
That's not that he doesn't get enjoyment out of it.

Speaker 5 (01:16:56):
No, I don't know the answer to that, but I'm
here to cut the gir us.

Speaker 6 (01:17:01):
The funny thing is no discussion about what it means
to have sex with a robot, you know, because everyone
knows that's coming sooner than later. Yeah, it's like hair transplants.
We have to just like just accept accept it. Then
everyone's just gonna go in that direction. There will be
no more stigma.

Speaker 5 (01:17:19):
Uh, there you go. We rated our algorithms for you.

Speaker 16 (01:17:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:17:25):
On the radio, All right, Abby, what do you got?
Coming up here?

Speaker 2 (01:17:30):
A medium talks about everything that they wish people knew
about the afterlife.

Speaker 5 (01:17:35):
Big Cat coming up eight forty five Here.

Speaker 9 (01:17:36):
On gd this is we get back at the Greedy
Jackals In Sales Weekday's eight ten with Michelle. She brings
you a workforce commercial free rock block. On one oh
two point five DV Pittsburg.

Speaker 3 (01:17:51):
This is the week It's all decided.

Speaker 2 (01:17:53):

Speaker 3 (01:18:49):
Slash audio ends July nineteenth.

Speaker 7 (01:18:52):
It's the four.

Speaker 1 (01:18:54):
Pittsburgh an iHeartRadio station.

Speaker 6 (01:19:02):
Wyndam Clark is a guy who is easy to kind
of root against, but I kind of think that his
infractions are so like lame, so like the irony of
people reacting to his not holding every single tenet of
golf as sakra sank and their response to that is
to completely break protocol and be total morons on the

(01:19:25):
course to him is not lost on me. It's like, oh,
you hate that he's not a traditionalist or he doesn't
respect the sport, and then you're doing the least respectful
thing you can do during the game.

Speaker 5 (01:19:35):
Yeah, and the.

Speaker 28 (01:19:35):
Lock up thing is right, I mean, we talked about
it on part of my take, but it's just so ridiculous.
That's where people go to the bathroom, Like that's where
guys are walking around with their pants off and like
old dudes are nude, And we said, like listen, say
what you will about Tiger Woods, but like good for it,
Like he was smart enough to never pop a couple

(01:19:56):
of pills and flip his suv in the oakuat locker room.

Speaker 1 (01:19:59):
Because Brandy Bellman and the DVE Morning Show.

Speaker 6 (01:20:06):
Hey Cattiby joining us at eight forty five this morning
here on DVE, Abby Krisner with a news update for
you right now. Our buddy Joe Barnick is live in
studio with us as well, and she's she's a camera woman,
she's a newsperson.

Speaker 3 (01:20:20):
And she's a had to make an adjustment.

Speaker 6 (01:20:24):
Yeah, I mean, these cameras they have in here in
the studio for us top notch Jason suck so bad.
They're so good, you know, they lock us in a
bank vault, they have the most like this is the
least cool looking room to go in and be creative in.
And then they're like, and we want to film it

(01:20:45):
and show the whole internet. And then they give us
Fisher Price Price cameras. Yeah, that absolutely suck and make
us all look like we're in that hot for teacher
video looking the fish eyelids.

Speaker 3 (01:20:56):
I know they don't want us to judge up the
room in any way that we.

Speaker 5 (01:21:01):
God forbid people to watch.

Speaker 2 (01:21:03):
Yeah, but like can I project something onto the walls?
I don't know, like maybe like a Batman signal and
get like a big like Iron City logo, or we
could have like I don't know, just Donnie Iris's head
spinning like they do.

Speaker 6 (01:21:17):
I like that that would be good, But like Mike
and Bob have the same problem that you look at
our videos in Miking Bob's videos of the exact same room,
even though we're not in the exact same room, because
our company thought it would be a good idea. At
some point they're like, you know what, let's make it
as bland and as boring as possible. Let's make it
look like that Apple commercial of Dystopia and that aired
in the Super Bowl in nineteen eighty.

Speaker 3 (01:21:38):
It looks like an episode of Severn.

Speaker 6 (01:21:39):
Yes, right, that make it look like we're locked in
the basement. And then we get yelled at because the
videos don't look that good. Oh, because we're now we're
freaking Steven Spielberg on top of it all.

Speaker 2 (01:21:53):
Oh okay, I actually would like to.

Speaker 3 (01:21:59):
Fix the room anyway.

Speaker 2 (01:22:00):
Well, if I got us a palm tree, like I
could get us lush greens that doesn't impact the wall integrity.

Speaker 3 (01:22:08):
I could just do like a big olive tree.

Speaker 5 (01:22:10):
Guys, guys, I love it.

Speaker 6 (01:22:12):
Any kind of tree is good for me. I'm totally
fine with it. Maybe some maybe some lights jush up
the place a little bit.

Speaker 3 (01:22:19):
Christmas lights. I have a whole string I just took
out of my daughter's room. I'll bring them in.

Speaker 6 (01:22:23):
Yeah, just I'll do it, do something, and then maybe
it won't look like uh, you know this, this ridiculous
situation that they have locked us into.

Speaker 5 (01:22:32):
Oh it's nice and sunny today. We won't know solitary confine. Yeah,
that's right.

Speaker 6 (01:22:37):
We're locked in the vault like al Pacino's outside negotiating Naka.

Speaker 5 (01:22:46):
Maybe he won't shoot.

Speaker 1 (01:22:47):
All of us.

Speaker 2 (01:22:48):
The ballt is safe for us today though, because it
is a code red airp Actually.

Speaker 6 (01:22:52):
This is our company having our back today. You don't
have to go outside and breathe that.

Speaker 2 (01:22:57):
By the way, issued by the State Department and Environmental Protection,
the particulate matter in the air PM two point five
because of the wildfire smoke. I don't know that sounds bad.

Speaker 6 (01:23:12):
Well, so three hundred is the EPA says don't go
outside when it's three hundred, so.

Speaker 3 (01:23:18):
We're two point five. This is cause that's that's very bad.

Speaker 2 (01:23:24):
If we're just a two point five and I'm using
my puffer this morning.

Speaker 6 (01:23:27):
No, this is sixty the one that I'm looking up
right now on IQRE. But like Toledo, Ohio is at
five hundred and eighty right now, woof, so that we
could be seeing a little more something along that direction.
I don't think we'll get nearly that high, but there
are towns in Michigan that are at a one thousand,

(01:23:47):
one thousand.

Speaker 3 (01:23:48):
That's insane.

Speaker 2 (01:23:49):
Well, the implosion of the bridge just happened, so that'll
help on top of that. If you saw any of
the video, which is very funny, the same person that
told us it was not going to implode today just
send another email that said.

Speaker 5 (01:24:02):
Holy f it just exploded.

Speaker 2 (01:24:06):
So now it's just nothing but a gigantic plume of
white smoke.

Speaker 5 (01:24:12):
Oh you have not seen the follow ups.

Speaker 2 (01:24:14):
But it's they're supposed to let that die down for
a couple of days before they can even start the
next phase of the project.

Speaker 3 (01:24:21):
Like they're waiting.

Speaker 2 (01:24:21):
It's going to take a long time for that smoke
to clear before they can even start moving the bridge.

Speaker 5 (01:24:27):
Uh okay, Yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:24:29):
The official iHeartRadio press release here is holy f it
just imploded.

Speaker 5 (01:24:36):
So just you know, well, I'm not sure why that
was a surprise.

Speaker 6 (01:24:41):
No, yeah, well, the reason it was a surprise, I
don't know if you saw the email before that there
was two minutes prior to that, is that pen Dot
had told our person thirty minutes until eight thirty is
the time, and they said they will let us know
five minutes before and then that's why the next update is,
holy f it just exploded.

Speaker 5 (01:25:02):
Premature implosion, that's right. It never happens.

Speaker 6 (01:25:09):
Happens to lots of bridges. Guys implode at home before
you go out. I should have been thinking about the pirate,
that's right.

Speaker 2 (01:25:19):
Experts do suggest wearing an N ninety five mask if
you have to be outside, and keeping your indoor air
cleaner by closing windows and running an air purifier or
an air conditioner.

Speaker 6 (01:25:29):
Today again, I said that the you know, the tweet
of the day yesterday was from the dude who said,
breathing in hefty lungfuls of smoke as I get explosive
diarrhea from salad, the sky turns apocalyptic orange while oil
companies drilling protected land. Screw worms are eating cattle alive,
and the president just paid six million dollars for rape
and I'm.

Speaker 5 (01:25:48):
Able to bet on all of it. We are living
in interesting times.

Speaker 2 (01:25:56):
Oh God, speaking of interesting times, this could have been
my algorithm.

Speaker 3 (01:26:02):
I don't know if you heard that.

Speaker 2 (01:26:04):
Chuck Schumer seemingly rips an extremely loud fart on the
Senate floor.

Speaker 3 (01:26:09):
Take a listen, and.

Speaker 11 (01:26:11):
We need a complete investigation that's independent now on Iran
and the NDAA when all the Trump administration.

Speaker 6 (01:26:21):
Okay, look at a time when cyclist Bory he is
a running rampant. That might just be the warning shot
across the bile that you're gonna have to pay a
little attention to their Chuck. I just shumered in my pants.

(01:26:43):
Is he related to Amy Show her uncle?

Speaker 5 (01:26:46):
Really? Yeah?

Speaker 6 (01:26:50):
He's not on ozempic though she bummed me out when
I will say when she did the DV Comedy Fest,
she was so fun. We had a blast. Whether she
was super cool, except she wouldn't take pictures with with
with the sponsors of the fans. She's like, is that
my contract?

Speaker 3 (01:27:03):
Really?

Speaker 14 (01:27:04):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (01:27:04):
And we were like, uh no. She's like, am I
see if I don't do that, am I see? If
I don't do that, I'm like, no, if you don't,
you don't have to do that.

Speaker 6 (01:27:12):
She's like, okay, I don't want to do that. Okay,
And you know, there's like three pictures that you take
or whatever. But that was the only thing.

Speaker 5 (01:27:18):
The rest of the time. She was an absolute blast.
We had so much fun that night.

Speaker 6 (01:27:23):
But it bummed me out when she went from being
missed body positivity to took ozempic, got hot thirst traps
all over the internet, left her husband.

Speaker 3 (01:27:33):
Seems like that happens to everybody.

Speaker 2 (01:27:36):
Even Well, I should take that back because I was
gonna say that Lizzo, you know, has been like body
positivity and everything. But I don't think she did ozempic
because she actually went like through like a fitness regime
and like her album just tanked. And she said, as
soon as the album tanked, I gained back like twenty pounds.

Speaker 5 (01:27:53):
Didn't her fans get mad at her for losing.

Speaker 2 (01:27:55):
Weight though, Yeah, that's but that's part of it. If
that is your messaging as you're entering into.

Speaker 5 (01:28:01):
Well, Billy has said.

Speaker 6 (01:28:02):
Gardell has said it many times that he hears constantly
from fans that like, we liked it better when you
were fat. He's like, yeah, I couldn't walk up steps. Yeah,
you know, like I was having trouble breathing. I was
gonna have a massive coronary. This is better.

Speaker 4 (01:28:17):
Yeah, that's like the greatest ClickHole story of all time.
Click Hole is like that other onion spoof website.

Speaker 5 (01:28:25):
It's like.

Speaker 4 (01:28:27):
Plus size actress who was already beautiful loses one hundred
pounds in great motivational script flipped but then they like
the article is them, you know, saying like both things
are great, and then like being mad at the other
one and just like flipping the perspective the whole time.

Speaker 5 (01:28:44):
It's hilarious. I don't.

Speaker 6 (01:28:45):
I mean, it's strange to me because at the same time,
I think there is more body positivity out there than
ever before. Women who carry a little extra weight have
never felt so free to just flaunt it, and I
think that's good.

Speaker 2 (01:29:03):
I see a lot of even like young girls at
the mall that like they are not covering anything, and I, again,
that's one of those things I tread lightly on because
I'm like, I want everybody to feel good in their body.

Speaker 3 (01:29:16):
And then also sometimes.

Speaker 2 (01:29:17):
I'm like, wow, it's just impressive because I couldn't be made.

Speaker 5 (01:29:21):
Yeah, feel good, just don't show us.

Speaker 13 (01:29:25):
But I'm you know, like, if you're four hundred pounds,
it shouldn't be all with positivity and you do you like, no.

Speaker 5 (01:29:31):
You are so unhealthy. Yeah, you got to get healthy.

Speaker 2 (01:29:34):
I just have a natural hate for myself, like a
normal person, right, sure, self landing notwithstanding.

Speaker 6 (01:29:40):
I mean this is like people who avoid the fact that,
like I think there are natural like, hey, I'm this
is my body weight, and I work out and this
is where I land and I you know, that's genetic.
And there are people who are dangerous and dangerously overweight
and they should treat it like a health issue.

Speaker 13 (01:30:01):
That's yes, Yeah, I mean I'm you know, I could
lose a few pounds and I'm happy.

Speaker 5 (01:30:05):
Well I was talking.

Speaker 17 (01:30:08):
Chuy.

Speaker 5 (01:30:08):
Chubby's happy. You know it really is. Chubby is happy. Well,
you have a bet about that?

Speaker 9 (01:30:13):
Yeah, I do.

Speaker 14 (01:30:14):
Bet.

Speaker 5 (01:30:14):
I mean I think everybody.

Speaker 29 (01:30:15):
Do you have a couple of pounds on you, you
feel better than Oh, I've been working on them. It's like, No,
you writ the book and a pizza in the hogy,
you drink a six pack, you feel better than if
you really worked out hard kind of in a.

Speaker 6 (01:30:25):
Way, well, Ethos has always been to like, when I
am having a good time, I'm not going to keep
myself from having a good time. But I'm not trying
to make everything into a party. So like, you know,
if I'm eating lunch by myself, it doesn't need to
be a huge HOGI you know what I mean. It's like,
I'm not healthy and work out during the week and
then on the weekend if we pounds of beers and

(01:30:47):
someone's like you want wings, and like, yeah, yes I do,
I do, and then you goes no, you know what,
I'm like two, I'm like, however many are ordering like
I'm good for two.

Speaker 5 (01:30:57):
And then you eat eight. That's how it happens.

Speaker 6 (01:31:00):
And you have a pizza late night when you're banged up,
and when you go home, you wake up the next
morning and there's rappers on the counter.

Speaker 5 (01:31:05):
And you're like, what did I do?

Speaker 6 (01:31:06):
And then you take account of your night before and
then you deal with it that week.

Speaker 13 (01:31:11):
But like, everybody should be able to have a good time.
Everyone should be like, ah, he's a couple of pazza,
he's twenty pases away. Whatever, he's but if you can't
walk up steps, yes, that's a problem. And then promoting
is like, oh, she's just let her be herself. She's
probably Oh she's being herself or he's being himself.

Speaker 6 (01:31:28):
It's no, you're unhealthy. Yeah, you're gonna die young. There
was a I don't know if it was Sports Illustrated
or it was like one of the fitness magazines was
like the new face of health and it was like
a clinically obese person and people were furious, Oh yeah,
because they're like, hey, you gotta make the distinction. It's like,

(01:31:48):
it's okay if you're not movie stars felt, but you
can't promote unhealthiness. So someone's like, look, it's fine to
just sit here and eat unhealthy and all that other stuff.

Speaker 4 (01:31:59):
The headline that I botched from the spoof website is
this plus size model was inspiring, but then she lost
one hundred pounds, which was also inspiring, even though she
was already perfect before, but she's also perfect now.

Speaker 2 (01:32:21):
It's also this phenomenon though, when you brought up Amy Schumer,
and this is happening with male actors as well, that
they dropped the weight, they get the body and the
divorces immediate Tom.

Speaker 5 (01:32:34):
People are saying this about Tom Sigart, saying.

Speaker 2 (01:32:36):
About Tom Sigart, that would happened. Like Jason Biggs even said, Oh,
I lost like forty pounds and then boom, divorced.

Speaker 3 (01:32:43):
It's just like, but I'm like, I'm so curious about this.
If this is like a side effect of a GLP one.

Speaker 5 (01:32:50):
Like in your brain, in your boy, no, I think.

Speaker 3 (01:32:53):
It's saying no to all these pleasure center things.

Speaker 6 (01:32:57):
There's a lot of people wondering about that. But the
GLP ones, they're saying that the compulsion aspect of your
brain gets like whittled down to next to nothing in
terms of like coursiveness over your actions, and then you
stop to crave. You stop craving lots of things. And
that's why they were saying. It was like, hey, this

(01:33:17):
is going to be effective against people or four people
want to quit smoking, but then a lot of other
pleasurable things might fall into that eventually. He's like, I
don't want to have sex. Well, if you don't want
to have sex, why would you get divorced?

Speaker 3 (01:33:36):
Sounds like you're in a perfect situation, all right.

Speaker 2 (01:33:42):
A medium is a person who claims to act as
a bridge between the physical world and the spiritual realm.
So if anyone on Earth knows anything about death, it
probably is them. But here are the four biggest things
that mediums say that they wish everyone knew out death.
Number one, they believe that death is not the end.

(01:34:04):
They describe it as a shift instead of a goodbye.
They say loved ones are still connected to us, just
in a different way. And many believe that signs can
show up in dreams, songs, or unexpected moments.

Speaker 5 (01:34:17):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:34:18):
Like when Paully goes to see the medium in The Sopranos,
He's like, Chucky says, you were he was your first?

Speaker 5 (01:34:25):
Are you still itchy? Yeah, I hear you home.

Speaker 6 (01:34:32):
He gives me a gay sler. It's so funny. He's
just mad at the ghosts.

Speaker 14 (01:34:36):
I don't know.

Speaker 6 (01:34:36):
I kind of believe that, like, I think there might
be another dimension, for lack of a better word, just
stuff we don't understand.

Speaker 2 (01:34:42):
I don't know happy to not understand it, but I'm
open to it.

Speaker 6 (01:34:46):
Well, I've definitely had experiences that I could chalk up
the circumstance, or I could if I want to believe
that it was you know, somebody or some something making
its presence known. You know, I told you when when
my my buddy Kevin died, Like that night, I was
sitting at my piano and the top key just started

(01:35:08):
going plink plink plink out of nowhere, and it was
annoying and something he would totally do, like what you.

Speaker 3 (01:35:16):
Doing, you playing the piano playing pant you know.

Speaker 5 (01:35:19):
Yea, And I told everybody.

Speaker 6 (01:35:22):
I was like, I mean, it's kind of strange that
it happened there where I was just sitting there and
uh and I wasn't even playing. I was kind of
like looking at the piano and then it just started going.

Speaker 3 (01:35:31):
Clink plink, p It's crazy.

Speaker 4 (01:35:34):
My dad sort of shaped my, uh my views on
the afterlife and stuff like that. I remember I was
like four, I'm like, Dad, is there a heaven? He's like, no,
I don't think so. And he just like continued to
drive around. I'm like, so what happens? He's like, you
just die?

Speaker 3 (01:35:51):
Like right, thanks Dad?

Speaker 9 (01:35:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:35:55):
I mean I'm walking through food Land and downtown Imperial
having this crisis at four years.

Speaker 6 (01:36:01):
Old, existential crisis show it just nothing. Nope, huh huh, No,
you're still talking about that. No, yeah, there's no point
to this. Nope, Yeah, I don't know. I'm very firmly

(01:36:22):
in the I don't know camp, And I think that
our brains can make us see and hear and want
a lot of things to happen that may or may
not be happening. But I withhold the you know, reservation
to believe that there's something.

Speaker 5 (01:36:38):
I just don't know what the hell it is.

Speaker 2 (01:36:40):
They say, as their second point, that fear is normal,
but they say don't let it take over the medium say,
it's natural to wonder what happens after we die, just
don't let the fear take control, which, as Dad's talking about,
I imagine that when you know, I have a conversation
with my kid about this, I probably we won't say that,

(01:37:01):
but I would.

Speaker 3 (01:37:01):
Probably encourage to live.

Speaker 27 (01:37:04):
Now, Hey it worked out great ish.

Speaker 5 (01:37:08):
Look at me now, you bounced back?

Speaker 6 (01:37:12):
Yeah, uh, I mean. Being raised Catholic, it was like,
you know, none of this matters. It's all about the
next stage, you know, like, all right, can we have
a little more fun in this stage?

Speaker 1 (01:37:25):
Though?

Speaker 5 (01:37:27):
Right as they're imposing some super strict rules.

Speaker 3 (01:37:30):
Well, that always like didn't sit well with me.

Speaker 2 (01:37:32):
Whenever, you know, talking about how bad hell would be
so that you would behave here on earth.

Speaker 3 (01:37:38):
And I kept thinking, like all.

Speaker 2 (01:37:39):
The sex stuff happens down there, why is that better?

Speaker 5 (01:37:46):
Hell sounds awesome. It's full of cool people.

Speaker 2 (01:37:50):
Number three they believe that pain stays behind. According to
the mediums, once someone dies, their physical and emotional pain
is gone. So I even believe that the soul continues
learning beyond this life.

Speaker 5 (01:38:03):
I can do the rbscube. Now suck to have a
bad back in heaven. No, it's great, but take it
up these steps.

Speaker 3 (01:38:15):
Yeah, No, the harp is way heavier than.

Speaker 2 (01:38:19):
H and fourth and final thing on the list. No
one crosses over alone.

Speaker 3 (01:38:24):
They say.

Speaker 2 (01:38:24):
One of the biggest misconceptions is that people die lonely. Instead,
they believe loved ones are welcomed with peace and love.

Speaker 5 (01:38:32):
Yeah, all your relatives are there, and they go, come
on over. We've been watching you masturbate for the last
one years.

Speaker 3 (01:38:38):
You like some freaky stuff.

Speaker 5 (01:38:40):
You are weird. My god, things you've done to socks.

Speaker 2 (01:38:47):
Hartley, sonny and toasty conditions today wildfire smoke will create
unhealthy air quality and poor visibility.

Speaker 3 (01:38:54):
It's a high of ninety three.

Speaker 6 (01:38:55):
All right, that sounds great. Mike will be in with
your Sports in just a little bit.

Mike sports Is are brought to you by Bridgeville Appliance Parts.
Looking forward to the second half, the unofficial second half
of the Major League Baseball season that'll commence for the
Buckos Friday Night in Cleveland, Jared Jones against Gavin Williams
seven ten game one in Cleveland. Then it'll be Braxton
Ashcraft against Joey Cantillo at four to ten on Saturday,

(01:41:09):
Paul Skeins against Tanner Bbie in the series finale one
forty pm on Sunday. Pirates currently sitting at fifty and
forty seven, couple of games out in the wildcard chase,
and according to fangrafts, for what it's worth, the Pirates
are being given a forty one point three percent chance
to make the playoffs, which I think. I don't know

(01:41:33):
how they arrived at that number, but that feels right
to me.

Speaker 6 (01:41:36):
Okay, well, you know how that goes one series. You
know they drop all three this weekend, that drops down
at thirty four.

Speaker 12 (01:41:41):
Yeah, the three wildcard teams. According to fangrass, Philadelphia's got
an eighty six point one percent chance, the Cubs seventy
six point eight, and Miami, which is currently head of
the Pirates, has a thirty three point seven percent chance.
This is going to be a really fascinating second half
because there are early six and a half games separating

(01:42:05):
the Washington Nationals and the Cubs, who are currently the
first wild card eight teams. Within six and a half games,
only three of them are going to ultimately advance, so
it's gonna be a pretty crazy game of musical chairs.

Speaker 5 (01:42:20):
Pirates with sixty five.

Speaker 12 (01:42:21):
Games left and they have twenty one of those against Chicago, Arizona, Miami, St. Louis,
or San Diego, which are five of the eight contenders.
Bucks are already done with Philadelphia and Washington. Nothing like starting
strong in the second half Cleveland and the Pirates starting
Friday night in Cleveland. The Mets and Phillies will play

(01:42:46):
tonight to usher baseball back after the All Star break.

Speaker 5 (01:42:50):
Two to one.

Speaker 12 (01:42:50):
Argentina over England yesterday and about is dramatic and compelling
and exciting and captivating and I don't know what else
sporting event could ask for. England got the lead early
in the second half of the fifty five minute mark.
Argentina comes back with goals at the eighty five minute
mark and the ninety second.

Speaker 5 (01:43:11):
Minute mark into extra time.

Speaker 12 (01:43:13):
Lionel Messi assisted that second goal was on cloth goals,
I mean yeah. He has ten assists in the World
Cup knockout stage, which is six more than any other
players had in at least the last sixty years. He
also has a goal or an assist in eleven straight
World Cup games dating back to twenty twenty two. Gosh, phenomenal. Yeah,

(01:43:37):
at thirty nine and it was fascinating to me. I
thought they did a great job on the broadcast. They
would have those wide shots and a lot of the
time he'd just be standing over by the sideline, just
kind of watching and waiting, and I forget which announces
that he's going to pounce when he senses an opportunity,
and then all of a sudden you see him spring

(01:43:57):
in action and he gets the ball and then stuff
starts happening.

Speaker 6 (01:44:00):
Yes, incredible entertainment, just incredible yesterday. Don't miss the finale
Sunday at three o'clock. And that was highly chippy in
the first half. I missed the first half. I only
saw the second half, and it was chuck full of entertainment, a.

Speaker 12 (01:44:17):
Lot of contact. I mean, it was it sucker. So
it's not like Willis McGahee against Ryan. They still beat
the hell out of each other and they were taking
what they could get away with as well, and then
it sort of settled down and it was much more
of a game in the second half. England's getting croshed
for its tactics to coach, in particular of just trying
to sit back and play defense after taking that one

(01:44:41):
to nothing lead. That was probably a bad idea, but
also the execution was just awful. If you're going to
play defense, you got to defend well.

Speaker 13 (01:44:50):
They were saying too that, like they write, there was
one one they didn't know what was going to happen
because England brought in all their defensive people and are
just we had all the offensive people.

Speaker 6 (01:45:01):
Yep, and on the attackers. That coach really screwed up.
They are not happy with him.

Speaker 5 (01:45:07):
No.

Speaker 6 (01:45:08):
Apparently, English like sports talk was hilarious yesterday and somebody
posted that all kinds of Irish and Scottish people were
calling into these national shows just to heckle them. That's
so great, that's awesome.

Speaker 12 (01:45:25):
The NHL has announced home openers for its new eighty
four game season that's going to commence on September the
twenty ninth. Penguins will be at Philadelphia on September the thirtieth.
Pence home opener is October the third against Montreal. Penguins
will also play in the Capitol's home opener, which isn't

(01:45:45):
until October the seventh, everybody's full schedule would be released today,
and New Jersey has reached agreement with Anthony Manth on
a two year.

Speaker 5 (01:45:56):
Nine point five million dollar contract.

Speaker 12 (01:46:01):
One year with the Penguins this past season a career
high thirty three goals and thirty one assists for a
career high sixty four points in eighty one regular season games.
Joey Bay, I give him a nice pat on the
back and show him the door.

Speaker 13 (01:46:13):
Thanks for your service, Tony, But I'll tell you this,
you lost ten million dollars at least by not burying
a couple in the playoffs.

Speaker 5 (01:46:22):
One assist in the six game of elimination against Philly,
he gets two goals.

Speaker 13 (01:46:27):
He's getting at least a three times seven point seventy
five from somebody.

Speaker 6 (01:46:33):
Anthony Minta had a Panton Yamesmantha Hey, Tony. He kind
of ruined Kyle Dubas's plans. Yeah, they won the t
went the tank this year or last year?

Speaker 1 (01:46:46):
Right?

Speaker 5 (01:46:47):
Just want to sign him and trade him? Yeah? Yeah,
they by the Geno. No, like we're in the playoffs.
They could have said goodbye to Gino. Yeah.

Speaker 13 (01:46:58):
Nah, who's the hurting? I mean, we can talk about
this every day. He is he hurting?

Speaker 5 (01:47:03):
Yea, who's he's helping everybody? What are they accomplishing?

Speaker 13 (01:47:09):
They made it to the playoffs? Yay, you know selling
tickets too. One of every three people has a Gino
jersey on. It's true.

Speaker 5 (01:47:20):
It's a big deal in that leg Jeno. Let's see how.

Speaker 6 (01:47:23):
Much they like him when he's sucking wind in November.

Speaker 5 (01:47:28):
Should have given him five years.

Speaker 6 (01:47:31):
Guy Junker, next hour, Guy Junker. Should be on the
Pittsburgh Walk of Fame. Mario made it this year. Mario
is one of the ten people well deserved. Yeah, he
should have been on the first one. It's kind of
egregious that he wasn't. He's going to show up for
the ceremony. That blows me away. But you know what
I remember? I remember Michael Keaton. Should have They spelled
Michael Keaton's name wrong, unforgivable. Yeah, on the Star last year,

(01:47:53):
they spelled it wrong. They spelled Michael wrong. Mikay Ole. Yeah,
I do that all the time. But I'm a little dyslexic.
I mean they shouldn't.

Speaker 5 (01:47:59):
Yeah, you're not.

Speaker 4 (01:48:00):
You're not making stone works to be displayed in front
of everyone.

Speaker 5 (01:48:04):
Yeah, where is that the smallman Street?

Speaker 6 (01:48:06):
I thought it was at the terminal on Smallman, like
right on the terminal.

Speaker 5 (01:48:12):
It's good spot for Yeah, why not?

Speaker 6 (01:48:14):
Well, I hope that Mario gets a good spot. Franco too.
Franco's in it this year.

Speaker 5 (01:48:18):
That's another one. That's the first ballot guy.

Speaker 6 (01:48:20):
Yeah, it's on Smallman, says Henry Mancini, not the bread guy.

Speaker 12 (01:48:28):
I gotta beat that on there, Dexter's power ballot Shelch
Henry Vncini.

Speaker 5 (01:48:32):
The other one, the other one. Full disclosure.

Speaker 9 (01:48:35):
We're buying your loyalty with the only currency we have.

Speaker 1 (01:48:39):
Music.

Speaker 9 (01:48:40):
Chad Tyson kicks off his show every weekday at three
with a commercial free rock block. Yeah, we sell a
little less, but rock a little more with Tyson afternoons
on dv E.

Speaker 4 (01:48:52):
Does your driveway or walkway just keep getting worse? Sunken slabs, cracks,
uneven steps before you start thinking constantly?

Speaker 5 (01:49:05):
C DD Morning Show, Randy Ballman, I'm with Tad Whistle
Joe Bartneck live in studio with us this morning.

Speaker 6 (01:49:11):
Our next guest brought to you by a yingling traditional lagger.
It's a ying laying thing, brewing America's lagger since eighteen
twenty nine, Big HEF and Barstool Sports joining.

Speaker 5 (01:49:21):
Us, right, Yeah, yeah, what's that meant?

Speaker 14 (01:49:24):
Oh I'm getting an applause? That felt nice With some guys.

Speaker 6 (01:49:28):
We're just doing you know, I'm trying to get a
little momentum going, you know what I mean. The air
is full of smoke here right now. The lettuce is
giving us all weeks long diarrhea. I just want people to,
you know, just to perk up a little bit.

Speaker 14 (01:49:40):
You know, do you know anyone who's gotten hit by
the lettuce diarrhea situation? Because I maybe it's way worse
than I'm imagining, but I feel like I've been training my.

Speaker 5 (01:49:52):
Whole life for this and I'm not worried at all.

Speaker 23 (01:49:54):
Like this is one I can handle. You know, when COVID.

Speaker 14 (01:49:58):
Happened, I get it. When all these others, when when
the swine flew, I don't.

Speaker 5 (01:50:02):
Know what that.

Speaker 14 (01:50:02):
But when they're like, hey, you have you you get
guyria for a few days, Like all right, I've been
lifting weights. I got this. Like, don't worry, I don't
need to see a doctor.

Speaker 6 (01:50:10):
Yeah, well, not to be all like a pedantic about it,
but it's a few weeks.

Speaker 14 (01:50:16):
Still got it. You'll probably still buy a fewer amount
of days than my worst days.

Speaker 5 (01:50:21):
I believe in you.

Speaker 6 (01:50:22):
I believe in you, big cat let. Let's first talk
about the All Star Game. Okay, you guys did your
own home run home run derby yesterday?

Speaker 14 (01:50:31):
Yes, yes, we did. We do it every year and
it's a nice reminder that I'm old and have no
power left and just frustrated it at father Toime?

Speaker 5 (01:50:41):
How how bad do your sides hurt today?

Speaker 14 (01:50:45):
My sides hurt, my quads hurt. So the format was funny,
it was uh, I think, I think what I need
to keep happening. So it was all of us. There's
eight barstool people, and then you had to go find
a partner, and so a lot of peop people just
found like a friend or something. I got two time
All Star Jason Kidnis, who played on the Guardians, who
lives in Chicago, and.

Speaker 23 (01:51:07):
So I think I need to just like, as.

Speaker 14 (01:51:09):
Older as I get, I need to find younger and
younger MLB All Stars I will compete with me. But
he was awesome and he was fun and it's like
it's always funny just watching a guy who played professionally
and like just seeing just how smooth everything is and
how good he is at all the little things.

Speaker 6 (01:51:25):
Well, the Home Run Derby the other night, I mean,
Will Ferrell and those guys got some pretty bad reviews,
and obviously that was just an overreach and it doesn't
need to be, you know, everything Netflix does. They just
try to shoehorn all this comedy into it. But the
Home Run Derby remains pretty pretty fun to watch usually.

(01:51:45):
I think the change they made to it this year
really benefited having like no clock but a limited amount
of swings and then that come from behind win was
I mean, that was pretty exciting, the highlight of All
Star Week, no doubt.

Speaker 11 (01:52:00):
Great.

Speaker 14 (01:52:00):
Yeah, it was thrilling, and yeah it was My biggest
complaint the last few years was that we were getting
to a point where it was not like a home
Run Derby. It was just who can hit like quickest
and fastest. Yeah, and you wouldn't get to watch any
of the home run to actually land.

Speaker 23 (01:52:14):
And when you think of.

Speaker 14 (01:52:15):
Like home Run Derby's in the late nineties and early
two thousands, when guys had a limited amount of swings and.

Speaker 5 (01:52:20):
It was our outs and it was like you get
to watch these moon shots.

Speaker 14 (01:52:25):
So I think they did a good job as well,
it was interesting to watch, like the Phillies kind of
had I just kept on thinking like there was gonna
be a big moment for a Philly whether it be Schwarburn,
the home run derby Christopher Sanchez, you know, pitching to
start the game, Bryce Harper coming up, and it just
they just didn't.

Speaker 5 (01:52:44):
Have one of those moments. But it was a good week.

Speaker 14 (01:52:46):
I let the All Star Game for midle league baseball,
people try to fix it in a million ways, do all
these things, like it is still the best All Star
weekend or week or week of any of the sports.
It's not even close. Like no other sport comes. They
canceled the NFL, you know, the Pro Bowl. I don't
even know what the NHL does, and the NBA is

(01:53:07):
like an absolute joke of a weekend. So they still
do it better than everyone else.

Speaker 6 (01:53:11):
I kind of fall on the line of it's better
to have the All Star Game than to not have
an All Star Game and some of the things, because
this one just ended up being boring.

Speaker 3 (01:53:23):
It's like, well, sometimes that happens.

Speaker 6 (01:53:25):
When they started doing like interviewing people during the game,
I thought that's that was kind of a cool aspect
to it. And I like seeing them out there in
their respective uniforms. I hated when they do the you know,
American League unis and the National League unis. And it
shouldn't have any playoff implications. It should just be a
celebration of the sport. The NFL does a good job

(01:53:47):
with that with the draft and other things where it
becomes like you know, NFL con and Major League Baseball
gets that through their All Star Week. So as boring
as it is, at least it's a nice celebration of
the game.

Speaker 5 (01:53:58):
And there's a historical element to it.

Speaker 6 (01:54:00):
Always get to talk about Pete Rose lighting up, Fossey
at the plate, Bob Gibson, bean and guys and stuff
like that, you know, the glory days of it. But
as far as it being the best All Star game,
I mean, it would be hard for me to argue that,
only because everyone else kind of just kind of quit
on it.

Speaker 5 (01:54:18):
Hockey comes a little close.

Speaker 14 (01:54:21):
Even so you agree with me, Yeah, just because everyone
else stinks doesn't mean it's not the best.

Speaker 5 (01:54:27):
No, right, you did it? Yeah, yeah, I want to
be accomplished.

Speaker 14 (01:54:32):
Eye else terrible.

Speaker 5 (01:54:33):
It's by and fault.

Speaker 6 (01:54:33):
But just because it stinks doesn't mean I don't think
we I mean, it's the best of all of the
games at Stake, doesn't mean we shouldn't have it.

Speaker 5 (01:54:40):
I still think it should still exist.

Speaker 23 (01:54:43):
I agree.

Speaker 14 (01:54:44):
I also, you forgot to mention that Ray Charles is
still alive. I don't know if any of you you
brought you guys know music.

Speaker 5 (01:54:50):
A little bit better than me.

Speaker 9 (01:54:51):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (01:54:52):
I thought he was.

Speaker 14 (01:54:52):
Still alive for like a minute there, And boy did
I feel stupid when they like zoomed out and he
was in Milwaukee in two thousand and two.

Speaker 5 (01:55:01):
On the video board. Yeah. I don't know.

Speaker 14 (01:55:03):
Maybe I was just so pumped that he was still
alive and I was just like, oh, this is so awesome.
And then I looked at it because I was like, wait,
but Stevie Wonderson. Stevie wonder is still alive. But yeah,
I felt really stupid things. Ray Charles is still alive.

Speaker 6 (01:55:14):
Yeah, they did the America the beautiful rendition from many
years ago, not alive, although you know it's hard now
with AI, who knows, they could probably just recreate Ray
Charles whenever they wanted to.

Speaker 3 (01:55:26):
What is your take on that?

Speaker 6 (01:55:27):
Zach Hampbell, dude who collects all the bait who's like
the home run baseball collecting guy who might be the
most obnoxious sports collector in the history of the game.

Speaker 14 (01:55:39):
Misunderstood genius, the greatest of all time.

Speaker 21 (01:55:43):
Okay, okay, elicit's jealous rage from all the losers and
nobody's which I sound like you're one of them, well
lit people.

Speaker 14 (01:55:54):
If you could go out and catch thirteen thousand foul
balls and home runs, you would, but you can't because.

Speaker 5 (01:56:01):
You're a nobody.

Speaker 14 (01:56:02):
And Zach Campbell's to somebody, and he's the best that's
ever done it. And I don't know why we've as
a country, we've stopped, uh, you know, like greatness to.

Speaker 5 (01:56:13):
That level we will never see again. Why why are
we shunning it?

Speaker 14 (01:56:16):
Why are we Why are we saying, oh, this is
not fair, Oh like a little kid. No, No, he's
the best to ever do it. And anyone who's upset
about it is a jealous baby.

Speaker 5 (01:56:26):
It's like saying, he's the best TMZ reporter doing what?

Speaker 23 (01:56:35):
What's what? What?

Speaker 5 (01:56:36):
What annoys you about it?

Speaker 23 (01:56:38):
Because you're a loser and you can't catch the voll ball?

Speaker 5 (01:56:41):
Precisely, yes, precisely that.

Speaker 3 (01:56:45):
I love him.

Speaker 14 (01:56:45):
I've always defended him I think it's funny. I think
it's like, listen, if you show me footage of him
like actually stealing it from a kid.

Speaker 23 (01:56:52):
I'll be like, Okay, that was that was messed up.

Speaker 14 (01:56:54):
But for the most part, he's always just in it
with adults and he's just better than them.

Speaker 23 (01:56:59):
And yeah, it is he a little bit quirky.

Speaker 28 (01:57:01):
Yeah maybe is maybe not.

Speaker 14 (01:57:03):
Like socially the most normal dude. Like, are you gonna
be like, hey, I want to got a beer with him? Yeah,
I'll agree with you that there. But like in terms
of greatness, he's cut over thirteen thousand follow balls. What
are you doing?

Speaker 23 (01:57:16):
He's the greatest of all time.

Speaker 14 (01:57:18):
He's pretty amongst us.

Speaker 5 (01:57:19):
Yeh.

Speaker 6 (01:57:20):
World Cup talk. Now, yesterday's game was insane. You know,
even Francis Vain was a really good game too. But
England Argentina, my god, England completely choked. But I guess
this is kind of a broad brush question for you,
you know. I mean I played soccer, you know, from
a little kid in some you know till like you know, intermurals,
through college. I love watching soccer, but I don't get

(01:57:42):
into the premier leagues. I always watch the World Cup.
To me, this World Cup was more enjoyable than anyone
I can remember in quite some time. And I don't
know if I can really quantify why that is. But
do you think it'll really have an effect on American soccer?
Because ratings for USA Belgium, we're fifty one million viewers

(01:58:04):
tuned in for that. That's no small potatoes.

Speaker 1 (01:58:09):
Yeah.

Speaker 23 (01:58:09):
I think it will.

Speaker 14 (01:58:10):
I think it absolutely will.

Speaker 5 (01:58:11):
I mean you can't.

Speaker 14 (01:58:12):
It's just like, will the gold medal game for the
USA Hockey have an effect on USA hockey?

Speaker 12 (01:58:19):
Yeah?

Speaker 14 (01:58:19):
You have to say it will because there are kids
watching it that we're gonna you know, they'll look to that,
they look to their heroes. Will it mean that we're
gonna be good at soccer?

Speaker 5 (01:58:28):
Absolutely not.

Speaker 14 (01:58:29):
We suck as a country at soccer. And I've been
preaching this to everyone.

Speaker 23 (01:58:32):
It's okay, like we I'm okay, just being.

Speaker 14 (01:58:35):
Like, hey, culturally, soccer is never gonna be the number
one sport here and that's and so we're never gonna
care as.

Speaker 5 (01:58:41):
Much as all these other countries.

Speaker 14 (01:58:43):
I've actually gone so far, I'm reversing it. I think
you know that everyone's making this argument that we should
have our best athletes play in the world that you
know in soccer, and we would win the World Cup.

Speaker 5 (01:58:54):
I think we should reverse it.

Speaker 23 (01:58:55):
I think all the best soccer players.

Speaker 14 (01:58:57):
We should just reassign them to like mac uh slot receivers,
because like Kristin Pulatch, being like a nasty punt returner
for bowling green would mean more to this country than
us losing in the round of sixteen, like getting white
with Belgium. Do you know what I mean?

Speaker 23 (01:59:16):
That's a Tuesday night that we'll never forget. He's given
us like a Monday afternoon.

Speaker 14 (01:59:21):
In July every four years, and where we have to
be ashamed of ourselves.

Speaker 5 (01:59:25):
We gotta think of the yeah, yeah.

Speaker 14 (01:59:28):
Yeah, let's read, let's let's boost up the mac and
and forget about soccer. We're never gonna win, Like we're
never gonna win the World Cup. And that's okay, We're
just It's just I know that people want it badly.
I get it. I get on the train every single
four years. We're never gonna win the World Cup. The
levels to this are so pronounced, and we're so much

(01:59:49):
worse than these top teams. Belgium wipe the floor with us.

Speaker 23 (01:59:53):
Belgium was like the ninth best team, they're not even
on the same level as the other teams that are
still playing.

Speaker 5 (01:59:58):
Yeah, you know.

Speaker 6 (01:59:59):
It's though, because I have friends who are way into
you know, international soccer, Premier League and stuff like that,
and they get up early on the weekends and go
and watch, you know, and drink their faces off before
eleven am, watching their respective teams, and I get the
sense it reminds me of pirate fans, when there there's
a sect of diehard pirate fans, no matter how bad

(02:00:20):
they are, they're all in on the Pirates all year long.
And because we've had so much futility for so long,
there's a big group of pirate fans who don't get
involved unless there's a little band wagon situation and things
are going good and they jump on board. And then
those pirate fans that suffer, they kind of hate the
band wagoners. They hate the people that come and fill

(02:00:40):
out the parking instead of sixteen thousand and their thirty
and there's like a little level of resentment they have
for them. And I kind of feel like that's how
the Premier League people feel about everybody that jumps on
board for the World Cup.

Speaker 5 (02:00:52):
They're like annoyed that.

Speaker 6 (02:00:55):
People are jumping on board and liking the thing that
they're passionate about. It's almost like the hipsters who are
like I liked Arcade fire before they were big, you know, Like,
don't you want people to be attracted to your sport?

Speaker 23 (02:01:10):
Right? The please like my sport.

Speaker 14 (02:01:12):
People are the worst because they plead to please like
my sport.

Speaker 23 (02:01:15):
They'll say, oh, well, World Cups on, World Cups on.

Speaker 14 (02:01:18):
And then when you talk about it, they're like, oh,
you don't know anything, like you're a casual.

Speaker 23 (02:01:22):
Okay, which one do you want?

Speaker 14 (02:01:23):
Man, I don't listen if you want to yell at
me and tell me I'm a casual and up I am?
And yeah am I counting down that we're eight Sundays
away from the NFL?

Speaker 23 (02:01:32):
Yeah I am?

Speaker 21 (02:01:32):
And the NFL is the NFL.

Speaker 14 (02:01:35):
Mean like ten million times more to this country than soccer? Ever?

Speaker 5 (02:01:39):
Will? Yes, it will?

Speaker 23 (02:01:40):
So you can, like I'm giving you some attention right.

Speaker 28 (02:01:43):
Now, you know, take it.

Speaker 23 (02:01:44):
Enjoy it, like, enjoy the fact that the eyes of
America are on your sport.

Speaker 14 (02:01:48):
And don't embarrass us by having guys run out of
the goal and losing four one to Belgium.

Speaker 6 (02:01:54):
Sunday night, football averages twenty three and a half million viewers.
It's like half of what they got, less than half
of what they got for that USA Belgium game. Yeah,
and that's just an average. That's crappy Sunday night games
if you go across the whole weekend. Yeah, the viewership
for American football is just insane. And I think we're

(02:02:16):
going a little crazy trying to do the opposite and
get the international crowd to pay attention to the NFL
because there's absolutely no reason the Steelers should be playing
in France this year.

Speaker 5 (02:02:28):
Agreed.

Speaker 14 (02:02:29):
I hate it so so much.

Speaker 5 (02:02:31):
I get it.

Speaker 14 (02:02:32):
It's like, you know, Roger Goodell's job is to make
money for the owners.

Speaker 5 (02:02:35):
Who are they all?

Speaker 14 (02:02:36):
I mean, the Seahawks just went for nine billion dollars.

Speaker 23 (02:02:40):
Yeah, I don't care.

Speaker 14 (02:02:41):
I don't care if someone in Europe blanks the NFL.

Speaker 5 (02:02:43):
It changes zero for me, like just my day to
day life.

Speaker 14 (02:02:48):
So yeah, I think the Internet, and you know, it
was where we're going. We're going to a point where
there's going to be sixteen international games, so every single
team will have to play an international game every single year.

Speaker 23 (02:02:57):
And they're going to probably do a Super.

Speaker 14 (02:02:58):
Bowl in London and I'm gonna be so so upset
and we just let that happen.

Speaker 5 (02:03:03):
I agree with you on all of that.

Speaker 6 (02:03:04):
All right, quickly, who do you like Sunday, Argentina or Spain.

Speaker 14 (02:03:09):
I'm a Messy guy.

Speaker 23 (02:03:10):
I actually think it's been really.

Speaker 14 (02:03:11):
Fun rooting for Messy because I get it, like, like
the the Lebron sexuals out there, who all they do
is root for Lebron no matter what team he's on.
I've always been like that's kind of weird, and now
I understand. It's like so fun because I'm just rooting
for Messy. I'm not rooting for Argentina. I'm rooting for Messi,
and if he doesn't, if they don't win, it's everyone

(02:03:34):
else's fault, and if they do win, it's all Messy's credit.

Speaker 23 (02:03:37):
So it's been a fun ride.

Speaker 14 (02:03:38):
To just be like, yeah, Messi is the best ever,
and anytime Argentina has a little bit of trouble, I'm
like they're letting him down. And then whenever it's like
he does anything, it's like, look, this is why he's
the greatest of all time. So I'm gonna I'm gonna
ride that horse all the way to the end.

Speaker 5 (02:03:51):
How great was that look he gave Bellingham yesterday. Okay, okay,
the best. It was like a mob boss. Yeah, it
was so good. It's brought to you by Yongling this
morning on DV bit ID have a great weekend, all right,
thanks guys. See him celebrate the stars and stripes with Yngling.

Speaker 7 (02:04:08):
He worked at DVE dot com.

Speaker 25 (02:04:10):
Check that's check enter it now at DVE dot com, w.

Speaker 7 (02:04:17):
DV Pittsburgh and iHeartRadio station Guaranteed Human.

Speaker 6 (02:04:28):
There was a I don't know if it was Sports
Illustrated or it was like one of the fitness magazines
was like the new face of health and it was
like a clinically obese person and people were furious because.

Speaker 5 (02:04:40):
They're like, hey, you gotta make the distinction.

Speaker 6 (02:04:43):
It's like, it's okay if you're not movie star spelt,
but you can't promote unhealthiness. So someone's like, look, it's
fine to just sit here and eat unhealthy and all
that other stuff.

Speaker 4 (02:04:55):
The headline that I botched from the spoof website is
this this plus size model was inspiring, but then she
lost one hundred pounds, which was also inspiring, even.

Speaker 5 (02:05:07):
Though she was already perfect before. But she's also perfect.

Speaker 1 (02:05:12):
Now Randy Bellman and the DVE Morning Show, Well.

Speaker 5 (02:05:18):
They blew up the commercial street bridge.

Speaker 3 (02:05:20):
It's liwed up.

Speaker 5 (02:05:21):
It's blowed up.

Speaker 6 (02:05:22):
Abby Krisner has your news right now here on the
DV Morning Show.

Speaker 5 (02:05:25):
What's going on?

Speaker 2 (02:05:26):
News this hour brought to you by Better Call SI.
Partly sunny and hot today. Wildfire smoke will create unhealthy
quality and poor visibility at times, so it's a high
I'm ninety three. Yellowstone National Park officials say the bison
that tossed a sixty five year old grandfather eight feet
into the air, as seen in the viral video, will

(02:05:47):
not be euthanized. Carl McDaniel was visiting the Bridge Bay
Campground near Yellowstone Lake in Wyoming with his thirteen year
old grandson when the incident occurred last week. However, officials
told Team Quote no management action will be taken against
the wild animal. McDaniel suffered a broken femur and underwent
surgery after the attack. The National Park Service recommends staying

(02:06:12):
at least seventy five feet away from bison and elk,
but it's currently mating season so the males are more aggressive.

Speaker 4 (02:06:22):
The judge was a bison who levied the no euthanization.

Speaker 5 (02:06:28):
As a jury.

Speaker 16 (02:06:29):
It was a yeah, or doin dish wards or the
additional parts?

Speaker 13 (02:06:40):
Jerned It was so great that video though, like you
see how you got thrown out? That was looney Tunes,
Like you never see something thrown in the air like that.

Speaker 6 (02:06:50):
Like the dude had a good sense of humor about
it too, he was like, I'm okay, you know.

Speaker 5 (02:06:54):
Also, I just.

Speaker 6 (02:06:55):
Think people don't understand the power of animals. They think
because we have a society that we have somehow this
power over these beasts, that like, well, they can't come
at me.

Speaker 5 (02:07:07):
I own a house.

Speaker 6 (02:07:11):
Yeah, I mean that thing whipped that big dude. He's
probably two fifty and he hurled him into the air
like nothing.

Speaker 4 (02:07:20):
It made me think that if he was in a car,
he would have gotten equally messed up. Yeah, Like the
bison could have easily flipped the car.

Speaker 6 (02:07:29):
Yeah, it is funny though, that's like, well, why did
the bison go crazy and try to kill that guy?
Weh he's horny? Okay, that makes sense, got it? Yeah,
been there? Imagine if guy people did that. They're just
so horny they just pick up people and throw them
in the air, specifically old dudes.

Speaker 5 (02:07:48):
God, I'm so horny. There's an old guy.

Speaker 3 (02:07:50):
I gotta throw him.

Speaker 5 (02:07:51):
I'll be right back to meet a woman.

Speaker 6 (02:07:56):
Got to meet a woman who that was almost like
doing it.

Speaker 13 (02:08:01):
That was it does come out though we see angry
guys at like two am at the bar.

Speaker 5 (02:08:07):
This is kind of the same thing.

Speaker 2 (02:08:08):
Yeah, One, Iron Maiden will not be attending the twenty
twenty six Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony,
citing a conflict tour schedule in Australia. The front end,
Bruce Dickinson and Basis Steve Harris both have expressed disinterest
in attending such events, with Dickinson saying I don't do
those sort of things. Despite being chosen for induction, the

(02:08:30):
band members have mixed feelings about the Rock Hall, with
Dickinson expressing apathy and Harrison or Harris rather uh being
glad to put an end to the discussion. Ultimately, Iron
Maiden remains indifferent to the honor and does not see
it as a significant achievement, so they wouldn't go anyway
even if they were available. Is basically the point.

Speaker 4 (02:08:50):
Yeah, is it getting to a point where so many
people are passing on the Rock Hall of Fame that uh,
the avant garde thing to do will be to perform
at it again and to be excited about getting into it.

Speaker 3 (02:09:04):
Huh.

Speaker 2 (02:09:04):
I was surprised that Jack White was so into it,
because he seems like the kind of guy that would
just be like, who needs it?

Speaker 3 (02:09:10):
But he was, Yeah, I seemed pretty excited about it.

Speaker 6 (02:09:13):
But he didn't he induct somebody before, though. I think
it's kind of like, once you're a part of it
one time, it'd probably be easy to get sucked into it.
I think that there's also an element of it that
is like you kind of owe it to your fans
to do it. In a weird way, It's like people
who are like, when I die, I don't want a funeral,

(02:09:34):
It's like, well it's not for you, for you jerk,
And I kind of feel that way about the Rock
and Roll Hall of Fame.

Speaker 5 (02:09:40):
It's like, if you.

Speaker 6 (02:09:41):
Don't go and do it your your fans don't get
to sort of bask in the glory of your greatness
and celebrate what they love about you. Cause I think
that most of like Iron Maiden fans are any bands
fans really are of two minds where they're like, yes,
the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame sucks, and so
I'm glad my band is in there because they deserve

(02:10:03):
to be right. Yeah, and people would love to see,
especially with Maiden, them jamming with their contemporaries, Like who
wouldn't want to hear let's say Jack White singing The Trooper,
you know what I mean? Or Run to the Hills
or something like that. Or if Rob Halford was there,

(02:10:26):
like he jumps up and does it with them, you.

Speaker 5 (02:10:27):
Know what I mean?

Speaker 6 (02:10:28):
Like that would be really cool, even though you know,
the institution kind of sucks. It's sucks, but the World
Cup is great.

Speaker 2 (02:10:39):
That's a perfect examples we still get to celebrate this
thing that we love in a way and taking out
the fact that it's just you know, the system in
which they induct people is deeply flawed.

Speaker 5 (02:10:53):
Yeah, Chick fil A sucks, but the sandwiches.

Speaker 3 (02:10:55):
Are amazing all right. Unfortunately, Home depots ready for Halloween.

Speaker 2 (02:11:03):
They unveiled the complete twenty twenty six Spooky Season collection.

Speaker 3 (02:11:08):
And you can buy it now.

Speaker 2 (02:11:10):
The updates are a twelve foot Skelly, which I just
looked at because I had to. It's three hundred and
seventy nine dollars. Wow, an eleven foot mummy, which is.

Speaker 3 (02:11:23):
Two hundred and ninety nine dollars.

Speaker 2 (02:11:25):
They also have an eight foot perilous plant monster or
the three piece animated Gremlins from the film, so you
could get all the little Gremlins at home depot.

Speaker 6 (02:11:38):
I do feel like Gremlins got kind of left behind
in terms of people, Like when you think talk about
the Great Alzheimer's you know what I mean.

Speaker 3 (02:11:45):
Yeah, I think so too.

Speaker 4 (02:11:46):
Yeah, the Evil Gremlins were real scary. This kid is
a good is but is it just a solid movie?
And I don't think it gets brought up enough.

Speaker 5 (02:11:54):
I don't know the skeletons.

Speaker 4 (02:11:58):
Someone has a twelve foot scale and bloomfield in their
little alley way and they just leave it up here around.

Speaker 5 (02:12:03):
Same with one of my neighbors.

Speaker 14 (02:12:05):
Yep.

Speaker 19 (02:12:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:12:06):
I feel like every neighborhood has a couple at this point,
and they put it in weird spots too, sometimes, like
they're not always in the front of the house. Sometimes
I've seen them on the side of people's houses, like
right by their garbage cans.

Speaker 3 (02:12:19):
Yeah, just like that just.

Speaker 2 (02:12:20):
Seems like you hate your neighbor and you know they
have a window that faces your house and you're just like.

Speaker 4 (02:12:27):
It, right, Yeah, every time they're taking a piss, they
have a stupid scale that God put it away.

Speaker 6 (02:12:33):
If I had one of those, I would do it
so that like its leg was up on the house,
like it was humping the house. Because I don't understand
why you do that to your neighbors. I really don't
take it down.

Speaker 2 (02:12:48):
That's more what stands out to me. You're just doing
that to your neighbors.

Speaker 3 (02:12:52):
It is funny and.

Speaker 2 (02:12:53):
It's quirky and everything, but also property values and like really, yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:12:59):
It's like the light, it's like Christmas lights. It's like, oh,
it's a bitch getting on that ladder. I'm not taking
that skeleton down. You gotta pull the steaks out of
the ah, forget it.

Speaker 6 (02:13:08):
I just can't believe that the kids of today, in
my time, one of those skeletons wouldn't have lasted a
week before it was completely dismantled in the middle of
the night. Yeah, by a bunch of they're d well
kids who were you know, just whatever, keeping parts of
it as a trophy. Yeah, just doing good old fashioned vandalism.

(02:13:30):
As a kid let's get the skeleton.

Speaker 5 (02:13:33):
But now they have to put down their iPad. That
is true. Yeah, you know, I not about that.

Speaker 6 (02:13:39):
Vandalism's really gone down ever since the dawn of computers technology.

Speaker 5 (02:13:44):
We would go out just to be vandals, Like what
do you want to do? I don't know.

Speaker 6 (02:13:47):
Let's go to that golf course and trash that one
green sounds good? Yeah, yeah, maybe the ranger will come
and get us. Yeah, and give chase, because that's all
you wanted. You wanted to be chased. It's just that simple. Yeah,
you're a kid. You want to be chased. You just
throw snowballs at cars? Why kids, you want to be chased?
You want someone to stop? Yeah, then you always have

(02:14:12):
the one kid you have to talk into being like, no,
we shouldn't throw the cinder block.

Speaker 5 (02:14:15):
Off the overpass.

Speaker 6 (02:14:17):
Yeah, that can actually kill somebody. Someone always goes too fun, Yeah,
like watch this. Yeah in trouble, Yes, everyone runs and
goes like what's our story?

Speaker 3 (02:14:29):
Yea last story here.

Speaker 2 (02:14:32):
Garth Brooks wishes ticket scalping was illegal. Tickets for the
first two shows of his Arena tour go on sale tomorrow,
and all tickets are expected to be the same price
even if they're in the front row or they're the nosebleeds.
But he said on his website quote, I never understood
why scalping is legal. I don't think I'm making it
too simple by saying, if we just make scalping illegal,

(02:14:54):
a bunch of the problems of today's ticketing procedures would
be gone.

Speaker 3 (02:14:57):
Isn't scalping illegal?

Speaker 4 (02:15:00):
Yes, that's why. That's why the signs say I need tickets. Yeah,
because you're soliciting people to your I want to buy.
I'm not sale. I don't have a deck of tickets
in my pocket. I want to be very clear about that, right,
I want to buy tickets. And then you're like, hey,
I need tickets, and they're like okay. But that's the
formality of the thing. Hopefully what he's talking about is

(02:15:22):
the third party online stuff.

Speaker 3 (02:15:25):
That's what I think, that's what he thinks he means.

Speaker 2 (02:15:28):
But to say that scalping is legal on the street.

Speaker 6 (02:15:35):
You can do second part, Yeah, I mean stop hub
and all that stuff has been is that considered scalping.
It's legalized scalping. But then we just found out, you know,
the CEO of stub hub is involved in a separate
scalping entity, which would seem like a humongous conflict of interest.

Speaker 13 (02:15:54):
I don't know, there's no more old fashioned scalping. That's
what thinks is they put everything on your phone. You
can't just go give a guy twenty bucks and get
a ticket.

Speaker 4 (02:16:03):
I'm I missed. I never thought I would miss those dudes.
I loved, yeah, you know, the haggle. Hated the dudes.
But now that it's gone, I'm like, I miss those
shady He grew.

Speaker 6 (02:16:14):
Up doing it with my dad. I learned the art
of it from my dad. And at the West Virginia
Games when I was a kid and I was in
like eighth grade, and my dad would give me, you know,
he'd have six extra tickets and he'd like bring a
ten speed down in a camper, you know, and you
go to our kailgate spot and be like, okay, here's
a bunch of tickets. Don't take less than fifty bucks

(02:16:35):
apiece for these, Get sixty bucks for those.

Speaker 5 (02:16:36):
I'll split split whatever.

Speaker 6 (02:16:38):
We make with you go and I would like bike
over to the stadium and I'm you know, holding up the.

Speaker 5 (02:16:42):
Tickets like who needs to?

Speaker 3 (02:16:44):
You know, who needs to?

Speaker 6 (02:16:45):
And I would do it for eerie blades games, and
then when I was on the other side of it,
I felt like I knew what I was doing, Like,
what do you got now, I'm cool, I'll see lather, dude.

Speaker 5 (02:16:53):
And then they went, well, dude, I ain't pay. I'll
give you this.

Speaker 6 (02:16:58):
And then they're like, ah, come on, you do the
quick hag. I'll be like, man, we're good man cool,
I have a good one. And then sometimes they're super
rude to you. And I never had a bad interaction
ever in my life until I went to a giant
scheme in San Francisco and a dude rolled up on
me and was like hey, yeah. He's like, he's like,

(02:17:18):
you guys need tickets. I'm like, we're good, man, I
got him and he's like, oh man, I got good
tickets everything. I'm like, dude, we're good man, I got
I got tickets like I'm set. And he's like, no, man,
you guys see what I got And he was like
in my face, and then I was like.

Speaker 5 (02:17:29):
Dude, we're good. And I gave him a little too
much lip for his.

Speaker 6 (02:17:33):
Liking, and the guy was like showing a knife ready
to kill me at like right by the Marishall's statue,
you know, And I was like, oh, I forgot where
I am. Yeah, I'm in the Bay Area.

Speaker 5 (02:17:48):
These people kill each other here at baseball games.

Speaker 13 (02:17:51):
Well they're aggressive homeless people, Yes, aggressive homeless.

Speaker 5 (02:17:57):
And that's kind of what was going on.

Speaker 6 (02:17:58):
And I was just like, and I was right outside
the stadium, so I thought it was okay, but I was.

Speaker 3 (02:18:02):
For a moment, I was like.

Speaker 5 (02:18:03):
Guys, and all your boys are gone.

Speaker 6 (02:18:06):
No, well I think the only one left was Staggy
and he had like two bags full of merch.

Speaker 3 (02:18:10):
You know, I got a stuffed animal for my knees,
Like we have to beat up a guy with a knife, sag.

Speaker 9 (02:18:18):
Uh.

Speaker 6 (02:18:18):
So typically those interactions were always good fun, is my point.
You know, out of hundreds, I only had one bad incident.

Speaker 5 (02:18:26):
Well, it was just.

Speaker 6 (02:18:26):
Such an easy way to go to a game that
was the best my own man sway.

Speaker 5 (02:18:32):
Again, there's no such thing as a sellout. There's no
such things. Oh we can't go to the game this weekend.
It sold out. No such thing as a sellout.

Speaker 4 (02:18:39):
It's an important lesson to learn, absolutely hiding your you know,
splitting your money up into different pockets too. Based on
the starting price.

Speaker 6 (02:18:47):
Yep, man, you gotta learn how to you gotta be
poker faced, and you gotta be willing to walk away.

Speaker 5 (02:18:53):
I will watch this game at so Ho.

Speaker 6 (02:18:57):
Well that was the other fun thing is when you
didn't care and you would go to Soho or somewhere
like that, where you're like, oh, dude, I'll watch a
couple of innings in there and then I'll go in.
Like if you didn't care about the first quarter of
a football game, you can get in right, but deity cheap.

Speaker 4 (02:19:12):
You have to be authentic about that though, because they
can smell it on you, like, no, he wants to
go in there. Yes, Oh, I get to look at
the desperation in this guy. So yeah, he's texting, he's
got he's taking phone calls.

Speaker 6 (02:19:24):
But that's what sucks about when ticketmasters started basically becoming
their own scalpers, is they just do the math on
it and they wait you out.

Speaker 4 (02:19:31):
Yeah they don't even they don't. It's not like, oh,
you're not gonna buy, well, we'll sit on it. The
ball has been kicked and sixty percent off. It's not
how it works anymore.

Speaker 14 (02:19:40):
No.

Speaker 4 (02:19:40):
I actually had a good one two years ago. I
went to a game, and I did the I need
a miracle. I just held up the one and some
guys like I got an extra one. I'm just gonna
burn it. You want to go, yes, I do. It's
Jeli's Ravens. Did you sit next to him? Uh no,
I bailed. We went through. I bailed him like I'm
gonna go find my buddies. He's like a schoolman a
bottom of beer. And yeah, we went on our separate way.
That's the way to do it.

Speaker 5 (02:20:01):
Man. You know he didn't really want to sit next
to you anyways. You know, That's how I always look
at it.

Speaker 6 (02:20:06):
Yeah, And I have given people tickets at like a
fish show and then like I don't want you to
sit next to me though you can't have this, but
you get like going the lawn or see it, like
I want the seats. I want the room, Like you know,
we have six we have four people, there's six seats.
I kind of want to spread out. You can have them, right,

(02:20:27):
and they're like cool, you know, and then you don't
see them. Great, no, and then you have to kick
other hippies out. But still, yeah, I know that those
see those were my seats and I gave them and
if you could get the hell out of here. Oh yeah, no,
Abbey and I went to a fisho a long time ago.
We had to kick people out of week because we
got like one of those little boxes from a sponsor.
Do you remember we had to kick people out of

(02:20:49):
the box constantly.

Speaker 3 (02:20:50):
Yes, well I don't remember a lot about that.

Speaker 5 (02:20:52):
Yeah, well understandable.

Speaker 13 (02:20:54):
I hadn't used my dad's season tickets in forever, actually
in the new stadium, like I never did. Uh, it's
been there thirty years, because I mean three rivers. We
had a family like eighty people all knew each other.
I had no idea. Me and my buddy went to
the game, and then next week they guy next to
my dad goes, who'd you give your tickets to?

Speaker 5 (02:21:13):
Last weekday?

Speaker 13 (02:21:14):
We're drunk and obnoxious and smuggling weed, And my dad goes,
that's my son.

Speaker 5 (02:21:22):
Pittsburgh win.

Speaker 1 (02:21:24):
Listen for your chads at Workforce Cash nine Am through
ninety you'll get thirteen chances a day to win a
thousand bucks in Workforce Cash on.

Speaker 5 (02:21:33):
Dve Bridgeville appliance.

Speaker 12 (02:21:38):
Prior to yesterday, there had been one instance in the
twenty first century in the FIFA World Cup where a
team scored first in a semi final and did not advance.

Speaker 5 (02:21:51):
To reach the final.

Speaker 12 (02:21:52):
That was England in twenty eighteen against Croatia. Well, now
there are two such instances, and England is in a
class by itself. After scoring early in the second half
yesterday against Argentina and then snatching defeat from the jaws
of victory, Argentina rallies for goals in the eighty five

(02:22:14):
minute and the ninety second minute and beats England two
to one to advance to take on Spain on Sunday.

Speaker 5 (02:22:21):
For all the World Cup marbles. It's gonna be a blast.
Really looking forward to it. Good opportunity for Sunday drinking. Yeah,
it starts with a.

Speaker 6 (02:22:31):
Little the preliminary game the Pirates Guardians. Paul Skins, Oh yeah,
I thought you were talking about the third and fourth place.

Speaker 5 (02:22:41):
No, I'm not really interested in that. It's a weird one.

Speaker 12 (02:22:44):
I've been interested in the tournament, but I don't really
care what happens when France plays England.

Speaker 5 (02:22:49):
Although grudge match, love a grudge, Hey, no love lost
between those two.

Speaker 12 (02:22:57):
That was just fascinating yesterday, really exciting and little MESSI
is all.

Speaker 5 (02:23:03):
That Lino whatever, Leon Cloe Claudere.

Speaker 12 (02:23:11):
Too many names from too many places to worry about
getting them all right now, although that's probably one that
you know you ought to know that one, right.

Speaker 5 (02:23:19):
I don't know.

Speaker 6 (02:23:19):
We say, look, think of how many names we've butchered
for the Penguins through the years. We don't even care. No,
people still say Malcolm all the time. People say Mario
instead of Mario.

Speaker 5 (02:23:36):
You say Mario. I say it's Mario, It's not Mario.
And you like me calling you Mike. I've been called worse,
I know by me.

Speaker 6 (02:23:49):
You know.

Speaker 12 (02:23:49):
Argentina became the first team with multiple winning goals in
second half stoppage time in a single World Cup yesterday.
That was an epic comeback in an historic collapse, all
in one and one more time. I'm want to put
a little more on the English players. I get that
the coach screwed up and they went all defense too fast,

(02:24:09):
but you can transition out of that, you can plague
defense aggressively. And I'm guessing they were not coached to
just stand there and watch it being mesmerized.

Speaker 6 (02:24:20):
And uh, I think they were, absolutely. I think they
were terrified. Yeah, reduced to a catactonic state by fear
of winning. Yes, Oh my god, we're going to make
the final. The goaltender actually made some big saves. Huge,
so did the post. Yeah, a couple of times. I
was really uh, really great stuff.

Speaker 12 (02:24:39):
Uh nothing like Sportsman when you know in the right circumstance,
it's not reality TV. You don't know what's going to happen,
no matter how much you think you do, and and
when it unfolds in front of your eyes. Wow, glad,
Glad we hosted this thing because I don't know if
I had been watching it as closely, if.

Speaker 5 (02:24:59):
It was in German.

Speaker 6 (02:25:01):
Agreed, if it were on weird times and stuff like that.
You know, we got a lot of primetime games.

Speaker 5 (02:25:08):
Argentina is going for a back to back.

Speaker 12 (02:25:11):
It would be the third such occurrence Italy in nineteen
thirty four and thirty eight and Brazil in nineteen fifty
eight and sixty two.

Speaker 5 (02:25:19):
That was Pele time, right, fifty eight and sixty two,
I believe.

Speaker 9 (02:25:23):
So.

Speaker 5 (02:25:24):
Then he went on to star in the movie Victory
with Michael Kaine. It's pie dice goal.

Speaker 6 (02:25:31):
That was their game played nineteen fifty eight Sweden, a
seventeen year old Pele burst onto the global stage becoming
the youngest player to ever win the World Cup seventeen. Yeah,
nineteen sixty two in Chile, played an integral role in
helping Brazil secure its second consecutive title, though his tournament
was cut short he got injured.

Speaker 13 (02:25:49):
Remember when he retired. It was such a big deal.
He played for Brazil. They played the Cosmos and he
played a half for each side. Ye oh, yeah, that's right,
the New York Cosmos. Yeah, he was not in the
North American Soccer League.

Speaker 5 (02:26:02):
Correct. I believe he played for the Cosmos for a year,
but don't hold.

Speaker 6 (02:26:05):
Me to it.

Speaker 5 (02:26:05):
Tampa Bay rowdies, I think you're right.

Speaker 12 (02:26:07):
They had Giorgio Kanalia and France Beckenbauer, right, Yeah, they
were like the all star team, right, the Cosmos.

Speaker 5 (02:26:17):
Yeah.

Speaker 13 (02:26:17):
There's a great series which I have on my TiVo,
which I have not watched yet about Think at five parter,
about how soccer from like coming to America, the whole
history of soccer.

Speaker 12 (02:26:26):
Yeah, I remember when they formulated that because they had
a team in Philly, the Philadelphia Adams. It was in
the early seventies, right, seventy seventy three, so, and that
Adams were going to all the local high schools and whatnot,
hosting these free clinics and giving out pennants and key
chains and really you know, banging the drum to get
the league on the map.

Speaker 5 (02:26:48):
And everybody was saying back then, boy, soccer is going
to be the next big sport in America.

Speaker 13 (02:26:51):
So they thought, still, wait, yeah, there's nothing wrong with
it not being number one, Like when Big Kat was
talking like, I don't need hockey to be any more
popular as long as eighteen times people show up at
the PPG arena, Like, I don't care who watches it.
I don't want to be more Americanized with you. I
feel that way about college hockey as long as the

(02:27:13):
ranks filled. Yeah, I don't care if anybody else was
watching Pirates open.

Speaker 12 (02:27:18):
Their own official second half Friday night in Cleveland, Jared
Jones against Gavin Williams, Braxton Ashcraft against Joey Cantillo on Saturday,
and then the aforementioned Paul Schemes against Tanner Bebee on Sunday.
That's the one forty first pitch on Sunday, So you
can watch some baseball and then flip it over to
the World Cup.

Speaker 6 (02:27:37):
Guy Johncker's going to join us after the break. Joe
Bartneck's hanging out in studio with this Joe you got
show's coming up?

Speaker 5 (02:27:43):
Yeah, tonight, Comedy for a Cause.

Speaker 13 (02:27:46):
We are going to be at the Derby over in Lawrenceville,
Me Seneca Stone, Trey McDonald. We're in Johnny Pittsburgh raising
money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Speaker 5 (02:27:58):
It's a great cause. What time's that chest?

Speaker 3 (02:28:00):
Start?

Speaker 13 (02:28:01):
Seven thirty? All right and take it's available at the door, Yes,
but get them now because it's probably gonna sell out.

Speaker 5 (02:28:08):
Yes.

Speaker 4 (02:28:09):
The Derby formerly hand Bones for if you haven't been
there yet, it's a They really changed it a lot.

Speaker 5 (02:28:14):
It's cool.

Speaker 6 (02:28:14):
Yeah, no question, I've really heard great things. It's awesome.
All right, quick break, we'll come back with Guy junker
Butt first.

Speaker 12 (02:28:20):

guest is brought to you by your neighborhood Ford's. It's
the one and only Guy Junker Lady Guy going on
by how are you fantastic? The worst week of sports

(02:30:10):
of the year each and every year, at least it was.
You know, we had a couple of World Cup games
lodged in there, which are pretty damn exciting. I don't
know if you ended up getting into any of it,
but the last two days have just been great sports theater.

Speaker 16 (02:30:28):
Yeah, I watched the whole Spain France game. I didn't
see any of the England game because I was golfing yesterday.
But yeah, I've enjoyed watching the entire World Cup And
or Mikey saying earlier, that seems just seems like it's
been or maybe it was you, Randy, it seems better
this year, and it might be my imagination, but there's
been more like three two games and it hasn't been
a lot of this one one mill stuff that's but

(02:30:50):
I think turns off a lot of Americans. You know,
we like to see scoring, and it seems like there's
been more this year. I don't know statistically that's true,
but it just feels that way.

Speaker 5 (02:30:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 16 (02:30:58):
Comebacks too, Yeah yeah, I mean usually, you know, two
nothing in soccer is like ten nothing in baseball, and
yet we've had several teams come back from two no
deficits to win, which has made it really exciting.

Speaker 5 (02:31:10):
Guy.

Speaker 6 (02:31:11):
I proposed earlier that you and Stan should get a
star on the Pittsburgh Walk of Fame. You know, they
issued their most recent ten inductees, Mary Lemieux and Myron
Cope and frank O Harris among them.

Speaker 5 (02:31:26):
I mean, there needs to be a sports beat star.

Speaker 16 (02:31:30):
Oh boy, that's I appreciate that, but I think we're
a level below the group that's going.

Speaker 5 (02:31:35):
In there anyway. But ye're nice with Myron. Come on,
I don't know.

Speaker 16 (02:31:41):
I never felt that way, you know, even when I
retired and I got compared with some of those guys,
that was kind of like embarrassing or weird. I don't
I don't Stan, yes, or maybe us together, but.

Speaker 19 (02:31:52):
I don't feel that way.

Speaker 23 (02:31:54):
I'm happy to get into my.

Speaker 5 (02:31:55):
High school Hall of Fame this year.

Speaker 1 (02:31:56):
That was fun enough.

Speaker 6 (02:31:58):
Yeah, that was pretty cool. Yeah, I'm guessing, Uh, you
have Myron Cope memories.

Speaker 16 (02:32:06):
Oh geez, some some that I can't talk about. Yeah, right,
you know, Myron, Myron was Myron was always really great
to me. And I think one of the things early
on he said to me one time, like his little
studio there had a some things are so different now
your story, everything in your phone and your computer. I mean,
I used to keep sports materials in a foul cabinet.

(02:32:29):
He gave me a drawer in his foul cabinet in
his studio and I would store stuff in there, which which.

Speaker 5 (02:32:33):
Was nice of him.

Speaker 16 (02:32:34):
And he said, guy, I didn't know you were an
old Southsider and I said yeah. And he says, you
were a vendor at the stadium and I said yeah,
because he was a vendor at Forbes Field. And somehow
I think he took me sort of under his wing
and we sort of grew up the same, uh you know,
doing so some of the same things. But he came
to the funeral home when my mother died, and I

(02:32:54):
think and he didn't just come in sign.

Speaker 5 (02:32:56):
The book, say I'm sorry and leave.

Speaker 16 (02:32:58):
He was there for well over and I are talking
to all my relatives and I think people were kind
of flabbergasted at that.

Speaker 5 (02:33:05):
Yeah, that's very nice.

Speaker 6 (02:33:06):
I have the same experience with him being incredibly kind
towards me. He had no reason to be. I was
very young when I got to know Myra, and he
always treated me great. And I love seeing him, especially
when i'd see him at lunchtime in Atrias with Jim
O'Brien throwing down a few cocktails.

Speaker 5 (02:33:22):
What a different world it was then.

Speaker 16 (02:33:24):
I mean, my god, Now you you know they had
two full time bartenders in the press blotch at three
River Stadium for the media to drink whilecovering games. The
anniversary today's the anniversary at three River Stadium's first time
Pirates and Reds this day in nineteen seventy.

Speaker 6 (02:33:42):
Isn't it crazy to think? I was talking about the
fact that Three Rivers Stadium was there for thirty years,
but it was something that you think about was like
from the like Mesozoic era, you know.

Speaker 5 (02:33:52):
What I mean. It like it was always there, but
it's only there for thirty years.

Speaker 6 (02:33:56):
And then it was when it was imploded, all kind
of were like, oh God, memories been there forever. Hedes
Field Acrocer Stadium is right on the heels of that lifeline,
of that life length together, you know, and I.

Speaker 5 (02:34:11):
Believe the.

Speaker 16 (02:34:13):
Contracts with them end in twenty thirty, So it's going
to be an interesting couple of years leading up to
that about whether you know, I don't think the Pirates
won a new ballpark. That one remains one of the
most sought tickets for out of town people. But you know,
the Steelers gonna want a new stadium or they are
both places gonna want upgrades, So that's going to be
an interesting battle. I think in the next couple of years.

Speaker 6 (02:34:35):
I couldn't imagine the city not working out a deal
to make sure they at least stay downtown or in
that area, or maybe over where the Esplanade is or something,
because I heard talk about them putting up a new
stadium in.

Speaker 5 (02:34:52):
Like Hayes and that to me just sounds crazy.

Speaker 7 (02:34:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 16 (02:34:57):
Well, I mean, if it wasn't for planned be or
planed c or whatever it turned out to be in
the voting, I mean, we might not have had those
stadiums built. So there's a lot of people I remember
going into the going into vote, and some lady said, well,
I know how you're gonna about it on I looked
at her and I said, do you have kids? She
said yeah. I said, well, I pay school taxes. I
don't have any kids, so you can pay taxes that

(02:35:18):
I can go watch baseball. And she she's just standing
in her hand and have bumper stickers with her mouth open.

Speaker 5 (02:35:24):
And when I said that to her, so you have kids,
said yeah, you like she's how that happened.

Speaker 23 (02:35:32):
I thought that I had.

Speaker 14 (02:35:33):
I didn't say that.

Speaker 6 (02:35:34):
Bucko's getting back at it on Friday. Uh, and uh,
we're bummed. It doesn't look like Mike. It doesn't look
like Paul Skeins will end up pitching against the Yanks.

Speaker 5 (02:35:43):
Not if he's pitching Sunday. I don't I wouldn't think
why not arrange it so that would be the case.

Speaker 16 (02:35:48):
Guy, Well, I liked them giving him a little bit
of extra rest.

Speaker 5 (02:35:52):
I mean, we saw.

Speaker 16 (02:35:53):
I was disappointed, and I'm sure Peacock was too. Not
to see Steens against Miserawski and he's suffering from fatigue.
Teams had two pretty good games going into the break,
so I don't mind giving him a little bit of
rest there. Jones is the next guy in line to
have pitched anyway and push Keller back as far as
you can right now with the struggles that he's had. Hey,

(02:36:14):
you know, the Cleveland games just as important as is
the Yankee game is at this point and what wearies
me a little bit down the stretch. And I think
their hitting will continue, especially when you got you know,
three or four of their better offensive players going to
come back to the lineup at some point. They do
a lot of road games left I mean, E've been
decent on the road, way better.

Speaker 5 (02:36:33):
Than last year. But you know, guys like guys like look.

Speaker 16 (02:36:37):
At Jared Triolo, splits, he hits, people complain about his hitting.
You know, actually doesn't hit badly at PMC Park, but
he's terrible on the road. And they're terrible against lefties.
There's a couple of small things that they're eight and
seventeen when a left hander started. So I'd like to
see a couple of those things improved down the stretch here,
But I don't care who that's what.

Speaker 12 (02:36:56):
A couple of wins against Milwaukee against lefties, right, Yeah,
they improved to eight and seventeen, got right?

Speaker 16 (02:37:05):
Yeah, were at one point they were five and fifteen,
I think, and well, that's because you know, you got
a zoom in a line up in Triolo and Henry
Davis and those guys when they're righty pitches, and that's
those are your weakest hitters right there. I was looking
at the record of teams in the division against each
other in the division. I don't have any illusions of
grandeur that they could catch Milwaukee. They have the second

(02:37:26):
best divisional record, Milwaukee's nineteen and ten. Within the division,
the Pirates are seventeen, eighteen and twelve. The Red Stink,
the Cubs are only five hundred, and the Cardinals were
the worst team in the division the last two weeks
before the All Star Break. I think they're fading. And
the one thing that's changed my outlook a little bit.
You know, just a couple of weeks ago, you're looking
at the Wild Card and even when they were like
maybe four games out, there were four or five teams

(02:37:47):
in front of them they could leap over to Cardinals.
Now then the only teams they got to worry about
are the ones they are trying to catch, the Marlins
and the Phillies. And then I think that makes it
a little more doable instead of every night two teams
are winning, two teams are losing. When you win, you
can't see the gain any ground.

Speaker 6 (02:38:02):
What's your expectation for the offensive output to continue at
this pace?

Speaker 16 (02:38:09):
Well, I think I think because some guys will be
coming back and can maybe get hot. You know, Horowitz
will be a good addition. Cruz will add some power
and stuff when he comes back. I can't see you're
not going to continue to get this from Valdez. It's
just ridiculous. The guy's averaging an RBI a game, twenty
eight games, you know.

Speaker 5 (02:38:26):
As a young kid.

Speaker 16 (02:38:27):
I think at some point they're going to punch back
against him.

Speaker 5 (02:38:31):
Ryan O'Hearn is having a career year. Can you keep
that up for a whole year or expect him to
cool off a little bit.

Speaker 16 (02:38:36):
So I think they have the enough offense that it'll do.
And that's been the good thing. They haven't relied on
just two guys or three guys, and when one guy
gets hurt, I mean, look how Mangum has stepped up.
Look how Valdez. You know in spring training it was
it was the password that we were kind of looking at.
It could be a guy to be called up and
be a part of the team this year, and nobody
was talking about Valdez.

Speaker 5 (02:38:56):
So even if those.

Speaker 16 (02:38:57):
Guys cooled off, there's so much offense of talent on
this team. I expect someone else to pick it up.

Speaker 5 (02:39:02):
I think they'll be all right.

Speaker 6 (02:39:03):
Guy Junker, brought to you by your neighborhood Ford Store
