Speaker 1 (00:01):
Bobby Flay shows up today like he's ready to hop
in the ring and stuff. Seriously pummeling. You got me
up early this morning, Elvis. I know, I begged you
to come in today. By the way, I had to
bring my girlfriend in with me. Brooke Williamson is here
in the building. She seems lovely. I was teaching her
how to take the subway this morning. You never, Brook,
You've never taken a New York City subway?
Speaker 2 (00:19):
No I have. I just don't really know how to
navigate the city via subway by myself.
Speaker 1 (00:23):
It's not easy. There's a great app called city Mapper.
You ever use it? No? And you and actually when
you go from city to city, like anywhere in the world,
it changes.
Speaker 3 (00:32):
Oh, it knows where you are. And I use it
all the time. I use it in Europe. We used
it in Tokyo.
Speaker 1 (00:37):
I used it. I use it here.
Speaker 3 (00:40):
It gives you all kinds of options and how to
get places, because this is not an easy place to
get to from where.
Speaker 1 (00:44):
I live, Where you live Downtown where I live. Yeah,
and we're on fifty fifth Street right exactly. Do you know?
Sometimes when we got a fair I'll walk home. I
walk all the way down to trabaca. That's good exercise.
Well I need it. Look at my my Oh will
you stop? My man? Boobs are dragging my kneecaps. Goodness
to hear. Hey, let's okay, let's talk about everything. So
Brooke Williamson is here. They're not engaged to be married,
(01:07):
but Brooke won both I believe Top Chef and Tournament
of Champions. Uh not Bobby's fiance.
Speaker 2 (01:17):
You didn't even know I was coming, and you have
a phone full of facts about me Google Google making.
Speaker 1 (01:23):
I'm creepy like that. It's how we do so okay.
Speaker 4 (01:27):
Brook, do you cook better than it does?
Speaker 2 (01:29):
No, this is Bobby Flay. Guys. Wow, it depends on
what we're do.
Speaker 1 (01:36):
You hear the irony into her voice. I mean it's
Bobby Flay. She said it just like that. Hey, can
we just get that ring on your finger? As you were?
Danielle rate it? Okay, it's gorgeous. It's a beautiful ring.
But it's a friendship ring, is what you're saying. I
didn't save your friendship. On the other hand, you're going steady, yes, yes,
(01:56):
she was wearing it on her right handkerchie. Because we're
not engaged.
Speaker 4 (01:59):
Is just a friend. Is that a promised ring?
Speaker 3 (02:02):
It's a commitment ring? That that is a blood diamond
right there, he's seeing a.
Speaker 5 (02:08):
Little bits of red.
Speaker 2 (02:10):
Originally say a point of saying it wasn't a lab diamond,
by the way, the.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
Lab situation here, what's cool about them because they're big
and sheep?
Speaker 5 (02:21):
No, because they don't kill children in other countries?
Speaker 1 (02:23):
Yeah, there's that real.
Speaker 4 (02:26):
They all look real.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
Okay, let's get back to where we're going. Okay, Sody
and the way to have my morning coffee. It looks
Froggy's joining us. Froggy knew this would be a moment.
He's joining us in Jackson. He's in the building. Okay.
So we originally saw this ring on Brooks finger on
on page six in the New York Post.
Speaker 4 (02:46):
Wasn't her hand tucked in her pants?
Speaker 1 (02:47):
Or why six?
Speaker 3 (02:52):
As the like, it's it's the every gossip that you've
ever seen place like. It's not necessarily only on page six.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
No, I think it started on people. And first of all,
he did it to himself. My hand was in my
back pocket.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
Why what were you scratching?
Speaker 2 (03:08):
Was in my back pocket and the ring is sizable,
so it actually was sticking out because I couldn't get
my hand all the way in, and he thought it
was hysterical, so he took a picture and posted it
on his Instagram stories, which, of course, within an hour,
caused a bunch of commotion.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
We had a lot of fun with but one thing.
We'll move on. One thing about that ring. I wouldn't
be going on the subway with that. It turns around,
I'm her security, okay, So come on, okay. I practically
begged Bobby to come in today because of his podcast,
(03:48):
which is right here.
Speaker 3 (03:50):
But Bobby on the Beat, Bobby on the Beat, Bobby
on the Beat, Beat, Bobby Flay, Bobby on the Beat.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
We have our own version to them that we came
out with for you left.
Speaker 4 (04:00):
I don't even know at this point.
Speaker 1 (04:02):
I'm so happy she does. I was honored to be
invited to Robert Flay's home down the street from where
I live and cooked up a beautiful chicken palm lunch.
Didn't have time to eat it because we were so
busy talking and I had so much fun with you, Bobby,
and I said this on I think on the podcast.
I'll say it again to the world. You are so
(04:23):
You're such a natural when it comes to interviewing people.
You're great. You're great at it. And the thing is,
I'm going to keep talking. I know I'm going on
and on. But when we see you doing all your
shows on the Food Network, it's very polished. It's teleprompter reading,
it's a format. So it was really on this show
I first heard you, the real you, and now you're
(04:47):
doing your podcast and you hear it again on the
podcast and see it. You're fantastic at this little thank you.
Speaker 3 (04:52):
But I have to say I got a lot of
training being on this microphone over the years. Really, I
think I've been doing this show for like fifteen years
or so. It's been a long time. And the reason
why I.
Speaker 1 (05:02):
One time he brought a biscuit. He brought one biscuits
for it. It was a dry biscuit. It was a
so so city. You guys are ridiculous.
Speaker 3 (05:16):
You seem to relax when you're in this room, even
but when I the reason why I made you chicken
parm is because the very first time I was on
three Studios ago fifteen years ago, you were talking to
me about your favorite dish was chicken parmesan, and so
I decided to make that when you came to my
house to be on my podcast. I mean, there's always
there's a rhyme, like there's a reason for all that.
Speaker 1 (05:37):
It was very nice.
Speaker 3 (05:38):
It was a little salty, and then Lee called me up,
Lee Schrager, it wasn't salty. You say that about everything.
Lee called Lee called me up, and he's like, I
just want to let you know when you have me
on your podcast. I like chicken Palm too. You guys
(05:58):
did this. Yeah, he's the new one, Johnny. I've seen
this happen. He's gonna be walking in here with a
blender before you know.
Speaker 6 (06:04):
I'm surprised he didn't come in today to be honest,
being down.
Speaker 1 (06:08):
Let me just give you he's on the bus. Let
me give you something, Bobby, what this text? I listened
to your episode on Bobby on the Beat last night.
Loved it. Ended up watching five more episodes. It is
such a great podcast. I love that you're bringing people
to the podcast. Okay, I love that. Oh we're gonna
(06:28):
blow this thing up. I love it. Him like and subscribe, Yeah,
hit like and subscribe. You're getting the podcast while and
go down very good. I know it's the only thing
I know how to say.
Speaker 2 (06:36):
You know, it's so funny. You mentioned that he's like
a surprisingly good interviewer. I've mentioned that to him on
many occasions when I've seen him on talk shows or
in situations where he's being interviewed, I often find that
he tends to flip the script and interview people back.
Speaker 1 (06:53):
It's just what you did to me. Yeah, and I
do that.
Speaker 4 (06:56):
Said that though, I'm Jimmy Fallon show.
Speaker 6 (06:59):
Fallen was trying to interview Elvis, and then Elvis flipped
and started interview.
Speaker 1 (07:03):
Yeah, he got mad at me. It's the only time
I've seen Jimmy Fallon mad. Are you sending Nate sending
me texts? Hold on?
Speaker 5 (07:09):
Wait? So how do you rate him as a podcast guest?
Speaker 1 (07:11):
Then? He Well, he's excellent.
Speaker 3 (07:13):
I mean, first of all, he's a professional, so he
knows how to keep the gab going, of course, but
also like like but like typically, as he just said,
he he does. It's hard for him to be interviewed
because he wants to then just start asking the questions
as opposed to.
Speaker 1 (07:29):
Be what do you think that is?
Speaker 3 (07:30):
I think you have something to hide. I had to
edit a lot of stuff for him, what did you
edit out?
Speaker 1 (07:39):
Did not make the podcast? Only one thing about what?
Oh okay, never mind. It was something very personal and
after we were done on it, do you really have
to talk about that on your stupid podcast?
Speaker 3 (07:50):
I was like, no, thank you for of course. I mean,
first of all, my podcast is all positive. It's only
we call it a no hater z own good. I'm
not there, there's no gotcha. And honestly, you guys are
the same way. I mean every once in a while, I mean,
you take me doubt every time I'm here. But for
the most part, But for the most part, this place
is positivity, which is so great. I mean, I just
(08:13):
that's why I love coming here. Well, we like to
celebrate our guests and we want them to come back.
You know a lot of people that do these things
or have podcasts, they want to get that headline that
they can shoot it out for shoot out to the press.
Speaker 1 (08:25):
Don't We don't look for him. I know, I'm not
interested in that. This is going to be a headlineless interview.
Yes it is, we would like to have. There's no
engagement happening.
Speaker 5 (08:34):
How annoying is that you have to answer that question constantly?
Speaker 1 (08:37):
Well, it's okay.
Speaker 2 (08:38):
But also everything's a headline. Yeah, like somebody will find
something to write.
Speaker 1 (08:44):
All right, let's keep going, see maybe something will come out.
So doing your podcast, what are you learning? What do
you are you what are you picking up from this
this journey on your podcast world? Well, first of all,
we basically have no idea what we're doing. We're kind
of learning on the job. I mean, seriously, what we
do here. It's a doing it for thirty years.
Speaker 3 (09:07):
But you know, it's it's one of those things where
we kind of tweak it, you know now now we
haven't we have an actual open We changed the you
were the You are a sort of our guinea pig
in terms of what we changed the the view of
the podcast itself. It used to be just like all
you would see is a curtain. Now like there's more
depth to it. And people actually commented on on the
(09:29):
YouTube comments about the fact that they like it, so like,
we're we're constantly trying to to you know, to tweak
it the best we can. But the thing I like
about it is that people are saying to me, like, oh,
this is a different side of you that we haven't
seen before, which is what you are, which is what
you've been saying, And like, look, I'm not I'm not
(09:49):
here to like, you know, spill everything that you know
is about my personal life.
Speaker 1 (09:54):
But like it's just easy for me to talk about.
Speaker 3 (09:56):
Brooke because we're we're I'm gonna great place in my
life right now because of that.
Speaker 1 (10:01):
That's good. He has a lot nicer these days. Brook
Brook has dulled the Edges. Let's put it like that. Yeah,
he's not as cantankerous and evil. If you're just turning
this song, this is Bobby Flay. Of course, his friend
Brooke Williamson is here, his other life partner. I used
(10:27):
to call Alex my partner. People. Are you guys in
a law firm or attorneys? No, he's my boyfriend. Yeah,
I mean I call her girlfriend? Is it okay? Girlfriend?
Is there is there like an age limit the term girlfriend?
Speaker 5 (10:45):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (10:46):
I think so I'm young enough to be called a girlfriend.
Speaker 4 (10:48):
Ago you say other half, this is my other half?
Speaker 1 (10:51):
Brook?
Speaker 4 (10:52):
I like that.
Speaker 1 (10:53):
Scary's not down with that.
Speaker 4 (10:59):
You haven't learned anything over the years.
Speaker 1 (11:00):
If you're just turning us on, they are here, and
I want you to check out Bobby's podcast. Bobby I
had a beat Bobby on the beat. But this is
unlike our podcast here, this is like a real deal.
They have two two camera people. We feed you too,
and they feed you and you're in his newly renovated
apartment and in beautiful Tribeca and his cat walked by
(11:23):
a couple of times.
Speaker 4 (11:24):
Which cat what's the cat's name is?
Speaker 1 (11:25):
Well, we have two cats, Canelo and Stella.
Speaker 4 (11:29):
Yeah, are the ginger as well?
Speaker 1 (11:30):
One of the canelo is ginger because it means cinnamon. Actually,
people are texting in questions, so one can't wait. Okay,
this is life.
Speaker 2 (11:40):
I forgot.
Speaker 1 (11:43):
People want to know your favorite meal of all time
that was not in a restaurant, that was not in
a restaurant. Ye your favorite meal maybe served by a friend? Oh,
something that Brooke made me? Okay, go with it.
Speaker 2 (11:57):
What Oh what's the what's your favorite thing that I've
ever made you?
Speaker 1 (12:01):
Uh? So many things?
Speaker 2 (12:06):
Wow?
Speaker 3 (12:07):
Actually she made me some yeasted pancakes about about a
month and a half ago that were unbelieved yeast pancakes
because but you have to day before yeah, okay, so
that they so that they.
Speaker 2 (12:23):
Rise in their fridge overnight and then.
Speaker 1 (12:24):
They were they were unbelievable.
Speaker 2 (12:27):
Do you have the best pancakes I've ever made up.
Speaker 1 (12:28):
I forget that. Okay, so it hit some emotional cords. Really,
what was it was from brook Is that what made
it so special?
Speaker 3 (12:38):
I mean the thing I love about well, first of all,
this is sort of an unusual thing, like having two
chefs together. But it's really nice not having to do
all the cooking.
Speaker 1 (12:50):
In my house, right, I can imagine.
Speaker 3 (12:52):
And and Brooke is very like she has an eighteen
year old son. She's like the best mom in the
World's one of the like it's one of the sexiest
things about her, honestly, and like she is, she is
very like she wants to take care of you, you know.
Speaker 1 (13:07):
I mean that's that's sort of her nurturing. She's very nurturing. Yeah,
so like you need that. You you never had that
before since I've known you, You've never seemed to nurtured.
Speaker 2 (13:24):
Like you said, I've softened the edges.
Speaker 1 (13:27):
No, but it's really nice.
Speaker 3 (13:29):
It's nice to come home and like, you know, walk
into my house in Brooks cooking and I know it's
going to be delicious, and I don't I can just eat.
Speaker 2 (13:37):
Like he can come home and have dinner ready. You
know like that. I think that's something he's.
Speaker 1 (13:42):
Never really but you need that, we need. But on
the other hand, Brook, do you need someone to nurture?
I mean yes, Okay.
Speaker 2 (13:55):
I mean I've been. I've been. I've had a little
boy who's now eight years old, who I have really
enjoyed cooking breakfast for every single morning, and he's about
to leave for college. And I'm just going to transfer
that to my boyfriend.
Speaker 1 (14:12):
Okay, you're the closest thing to her, an eighteen year
old boy.
Speaker 2 (14:17):
I also, I also love having.
Speaker 5 (14:21):
How did you guys meet?
Speaker 1 (14:22):
How did that happen?
Speaker 5 (14:23):
Who made the first move?
Speaker 1 (14:24):
The first move?
Speaker 5 (14:25):
Yeah, all of it.
Speaker 1 (14:27):
I'll let her speak.
Speaker 2 (14:28):
Well, we've known each other for years, way before we dated.
We worked together for several years before this was a
romantic relationship.
Speaker 5 (14:35):
Did you always have a crush on him?
Speaker 2 (14:37):
I mean he's a very charming, charismatic man. I wouldn't
say that I didn't always notice that, but the opportunity
wasn't always always there, and then when it was, it
felt very natural and organic to turn it into something else.
Speaker 1 (14:54):
Wow, this is so romantic. It's kind of creepy. Actually,
I remant it. Look, we're gonna have to get into
a break. But first we have two texts. Do you
have to take a break. We have to take a break. Yeah.
And then we got to get to work because we've
just been kind of shooting the crab. We got to
get to work here. We got things to do. What
do you mean work? Hold on now, I'm gonna start
(15:15):
working now. I just want to let me know Bobby
Flay is a great guy. While we were building the
Starbucks all ninth Avenue, he stopped by. He took a
picture with all of us blue collar iron workers. It
meant a lot. Bobby, Your French onion soup and hot
chips at your Parisian steakhouse at Caesar's Palace changed my
life planning to go back to Vegas just for that.
Welcome to Bobby's World. The waiter to Welcome to Bobby's World,
(15:36):
and I was floored. Wow. In a talkback, people are
talking back to us, Hi, guys, good morning.
Speaker 5 (15:43):
I called a few months ago about trying to.
Speaker 6 (15:44):
Get tickets for Bobby Flays shows and I didn't get
them again this year.
Speaker 2 (15:49):
He's on right now. Can you ask, what do we.
Speaker 1 (15:52):
Have to do sell a kidney?
Speaker 5 (15:53):
How do we get in this lottery?
Speaker 1 (15:55):
How do we get around?
Speaker 3 (15:58):
Well, there are no tickets because it's the audience is
brought in.
Speaker 1 (16:02):
It's not are they real?
Speaker 2 (16:03):
Is it?
Speaker 1 (16:04):
AI? At these fake people?
Speaker 2 (16:08):
I'm gonna say, I think people don't realize how long
of a day it is, and it is. It is
a work that you have to pay attention. You can't
be on your phone. There are people who have to
pay attention and be active.
Speaker 1 (16:20):
It's a job. Do you force people to take adderall?
I mean, who are these people? I mean are they
on a work release program? No?
Speaker 3 (16:28):
No, no, they but it's cast like there there there
are people that the audience wranglers bring in.
Speaker 4 (16:35):
Oh so it's not tickets like a normal.
Speaker 1 (16:37):
Out, but they get in there Somehow do we get
them in there? I don't know.
Speaker 4 (16:42):
It's your show? How do you audition for that?
Speaker 1 (16:44):
The auditions is to sit there. We asked you to
clap a few times.
Speaker 5 (16:50):
This is fascinating because it's something about this seems very sketchy.
He's not giving us answers.
Speaker 1 (16:55):
It's just my family in the stands. Are these your
illegitimate children? It's my friends. They don't have jobs.
Speaker 2 (17:02):
Really, it's all his previous girlfriends.
Speaker 1 (17:08):
Is there a special is there a wives section? V
We have to take a break, but I'm not taking
a break too. You tell me how does one get
in that audience? Brook? Brook, hold on, don't get cut
up with these guys. Okay, Bobby Flay, you will answer
the question. If I want to come see you're not me.
(17:29):
But anyone wants to come watch a taping? They get tickets.
How do you get it? They appear it must.
Speaker 4 (17:35):
Maybe it's all actors that they hire from agencies.
Speaker 1 (17:38):
It is a lot of people who are extras. Yes, yeah,
they're paid for central casting. This is just a love
of crap. You're breaking my heart. I thought these are
real people. If they're real people, how much do you
pay them to come? Don't do this?
Speaker 6 (17:55):
Leave me out of it, Ate, Nate, Is it like
Disney where it's like the animate people?
Speaker 1 (18:00):
Oh my god? Is it the Hall of Presidents? Really?
They're very dedicated people to the show.
Speaker 4 (18:08):
Oh my god, this is in the same people a lot.
They keep coming back.
Speaker 3 (18:11):
They've done five hundred and twenty six episodes in a row.
All these poor people they're paying. They're paying some price
for something they didn't many episodes. Have you done just one?
Now if your show, this show, of your show, I've
done one, Yeah, of this show.
Speaker 1 (18:26):
I don't know. It's been thirty years, times five times
a week.
Speaker 3 (18:29):
I know because I always bragg. We've done five hundred
and twenty six episodes and that sounds like a lot.
But you do that like in a year.
Speaker 1 (18:34):
In the we've done hundreds of thousands. Crazy. We got
to take a break. Well, you guys that have work
this board. No, I don't know how this thing catches
on fire sometimes? What does Nate do? Brook Williamson is
here as well? I know what's the girlfriend?
Speaker 2 (18:51):
Girlfriend?
Speaker 1 (18:53):
Girlfriend? And his girlfriend's here, Yes she is. But you're
more than a girlfriend though, I just 's a life partner.
Is that not cool?
Speaker 2 (19:02):
I don't think it is.
Speaker 1 (19:04):
You're going to go, but but are you okay with
life partner? Okay?
Speaker 2 (19:08):
All right? I love being that that that person for him?
Speaker 1 (19:11):
Okay. He said on the podcast he's never ever going
to get married ever again? Yeah, your does that make
him been married? I wouldn't do that to her.
Speaker 2 (19:21):
I don't. I have some like major emphasis on marriage
where I feel like it's it's it's a necessary thing.
Speaker 1 (19:29):
No, well, I mean it's almost as if he just
puts his hand in your face. No, no, married, that's
not what's works.
Speaker 2 (19:37):
It's a conversation, okay, and we both need to be
on the same page, and we are.
Speaker 1 (19:42):
You should have been there when I gave her the
ring that like.
Speaker 2 (19:45):
That was that was a little bit of a confusing moment.
Speaker 1 (19:48):
How did you explain? I mean, was there before the
box was open? I got it. Let me set this up. No,
so we were in London if I remember it differently,
but we were.
Speaker 2 (19:59):
In London and and there was there was actually like
a whole conversation about me. Are you sure that you're
okay with never getting married again?
Speaker 1 (20:09):
Okay?
Speaker 2 (20:09):
And I was like, we had the conversation not on the.
Speaker 1 (20:12):
Park bench in London, yes, it means in Regent's Park.
Speaker 2 (20:17):
And then he said he had a gift for me
and he wanted to show me how committed he was
to this relationship. And he gave me a little blue
box and I opened it and it was this ring.
And I looked at him and I know you can't
curse on the show, but it was, what the f
what is happening?
Speaker 1 (20:39):
Wouldn't you guys be a little confused? Did you want
her to be confused. Was that the it's like a
like pulling a string in front of a cat. I
don't know what do you do? Let's put this way.
I I thought about this very very long and hard
as to what because I wanted to give her something
to show her that I was admitted to this relationship
(21:01):
in a way that was bigger than just like let's date. Okay, okay.
Speaker 3 (21:05):
I got this like a very sort of I was
actually trying to have a mature moment, and so I
kind of went back and forth as to like what
I should give her. Does diamond say engagement only or
does it matter? Like should I get a different stone,
should it be a different ring? And I just decided
(21:27):
that no, like it doesn't really matter. And so I
said to her, I was like, here's the deal, I said,
were I said to her before I gave her the ring?
I said, I just want to make sure I want
to have this conversation you want with you one more time?
Speaker 1 (21:40):
Please.
Speaker 3 (21:41):
You know, I'm sorry that we keep talking about this.
I just want to make sure that marriage is not
something you want to do again, because it's not something
that I think I can do again. And she's like, no,
I'm absolutely I'm I'm totally fine with not never.
Speaker 1 (21:55):
Getting married again. I said, okay, great, Well in that case,
I got you a gift.
Speaker 3 (22:00):
And she opened it up and I was like, I
think for fun, you should wear it on the opposite
hand of your engagement for.
Speaker 2 (22:06):
Funds for your right hand.
Speaker 1 (22:08):
It's for your right hand, for the right hand.
Speaker 2 (22:09):
He also said, just because I don't want to get
married again doesn't mean that you don't deserve the big
beautiful ring.
Speaker 1 (22:15):
Oh, Bobby, Oh that's so beautiful.
Speaker 6 (22:19):
Well, what if the hell she had said, while you
were sitting there with the ring in your hand, Yeah,
you know, I was thinking about it again, maybe I
would like to get married.
Speaker 4 (22:27):
Would you have put that ring back in your pocket?
Speaker 3 (22:31):
I would have said, well, enjoyed the ring. That's like
a big crack of cracker jack.
Speaker 1 (22:39):
You know.
Speaker 3 (22:39):
Fine, But uh, I mean I don't. I don't think
getting married is what I need to do.
Speaker 2 (22:46):
That's just I also don't think.
Speaker 1 (22:50):
I do agree some people. Some people get married because
they think it's going to make that happy.
Speaker 2 (22:54):
Some people get married because it's it seems like the
natural next step. And I don't think marriage equals happiness.
And I don't think that not being married doesn't mean
you can't be the happiest you've ever been.
Speaker 1 (23:06):
Well, I love it, I love I think this is great,
and I think.
Speaker 2 (23:09):
The conversation about the marriage prior to the ring was
to make sure that I wouldn't be disappointed by opening
a box and not having it.
Speaker 3 (23:15):
Mean that a friend of mine, by the way, I
love this story, but a friend, a friend of mine
who is a very very big actress, said to me
years ago we were sitting having lunch, and I'll just
say this. She didn't follow her own advice, but she
said to me, all I want is a big ring
(23:36):
at a big party. I don't need to be married again.
And when she said that to me, I was like,
you know what, Wow, I like that because there's there's like,
at least there's some like some moments to it, but
you don't necessarily have to document it with a piece
of paper.
Speaker 5 (23:51):
I so I clearly I'm on the same page as you.
I totally support people who want to get married. I
love it. Good for them if that's what they want
to do. It's not something that I ever want to do,
and people ask me about it constantly. When you're gonna
get married. Why aren't you gonna get married? And I
see all the time and a meanness. I think for me,
it's so much more romantic knowing that somebody wakes up
every day and chooses to be with me with no
(24:13):
strings attached. The government is not involved. You can walk
away at any moment, yes, but you choose to be here.
I like that. That's the relationship that I want. But
apparently a lot of other people just you know, they
need that answer.
Speaker 2 (24:23):
He is also really wonderful about big grand gestures, you know,
like he's a very romantic man, so that I feel
like that is who he is.
Speaker 3 (24:32):
Not married, Yeah, I'm better single.
Speaker 5 (24:47):
Well, well, I want to keep her.
Speaker 1 (24:51):
Well, look, thanks for sharing that story. That's a great story.
And a lot of people are commenting on the text.
Why I'm saying, yeah, on the same page, this is right,
that this makes sense, And a lot of people listening
may have wanted their philosophy to be defined and they
finally had someone articulate that for them. Both of you,
(25:12):
thank you very much, Okay, and you're not saying nothing
to say. I got drank quiet all of a sudden,
and that's hilarious. I got some I have all sorts
of stuff. Let's go back to the podcast. By the way,
we have our own intro where you can use. You
can borrow this if you want. On the peak. Yes,
(25:36):
I thought we had to kind of freshen that up
a little bit, like that little house music baby. Did
you just say the words house music baby?
Speaker 2 (25:45):
Like very like earythmics? It is.
Speaker 1 (25:49):
It's safety dance. It is safety dance, a safety dance.
There's you know what I'm talking about. As in the
corner of the club trying to hide his face. I'm
doing bloy with Holston in the corner. Eliza and Ellie
just walked by on a horse. Look, okay, so let's
(26:12):
talk about the podcast. This is out now, Bobby on
the beat of course, the podcast. How many episodes have
you done so twenty? You're the twentiest. Oh wow, okay,
I've got a lot of catching up to do. Then, yes,
you do. I'm gonna. I'm gonna. I'm wanna watch all
of them. And they're all on video. There's not just
they're all on video. They're on YouTube. Obviously, you can
listen to it wherever you get your podcasts, but you
can watch it on YouTube. Bobby on the Beat podcast.
(26:35):
And yeah, I mean, and you know what, they're not
that long. They're like somewhere between I don't know, twenty
eight and thirty eight minutes. We were an hour and
a half.
Speaker 3 (26:45):
Well, you didn't use all no, no, no, we edited
a hell editing.
Speaker 4 (26:54):
Wow.
Speaker 5 (26:54):
Do you have a dream guest? Like people that you
are still shooting for right now?
Speaker 1 (26:58):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (26:59):
Many?
Speaker 1 (27:00):
Yes? Many?
Speaker 5 (27:01):
Can you name them?
Speaker 1 (27:02):
Mmmm? No?
Speaker 6 (27:05):
Okay, maybe if you put it out there, it'll happen
like name it, throw it out there.
Speaker 1 (27:10):
Uh scylet Johansen. Okay, okay, it's good, done, done done.
I'm gonna give a call. But real dream podcast was
the one he did with me. I'm sure because I
showed up with a gift that I brought you a gift.
Open it up. You should smell it as soon as
you open it. There you go, give it a truffles.
(27:31):
It's the end of black truffle season. I guess these
are expensive. They are. I know you went for it.
Speaker 5 (27:38):
The booziest part of that conversation. Have you ever been
in Italy?
Speaker 1 (27:43):
Have you me? Yes?
Speaker 2 (27:45):
No?
Speaker 1 (27:45):
Never. You gotta do it.
Speaker 3 (27:47):
Everyone should have a truffle dog in the back. I
used those black truffles. I made potatoes with them this weekend.
Speaker 7 (27:53):
Nice.
Speaker 1 (27:54):
That was so nice you and like you didn't bring
me one truffle. It was like it was like marble's
in there. It was crazy.
Speaker 2 (28:00):
Yeah, there's still some in the fridge.
Speaker 1 (28:01):
I know you better use those up. Scrambled eggs, baby,
I love that. M oh is this the one where
we talked about me having a kid and you got
me to talk about this. I know you got a
little emotional.
Speaker 7 (28:11):
Actually, when we were in Italy at this villa with
our friends, we went this is a bouche's conversation ever. Actually,
when we were in Italy at this villa with our friends,
we went trouffle hunting. It was Christmas time and they
brought some of them brought their kids and watching them
have that special time around this massive Christmas tree and
enjoying each other's company. We went into Florence and all
(28:33):
bought gifts for each other and opened them Christmas morning,
this and that, and Alice.
Speaker 1 (28:38):
To her and said, God, this is this is great.
Let's talk to them about what it what it would
be like to begin to think about contemplating about commencing
to like maybe think about it really, And so we
had these conversations with them and the good the bad,
you just you know, you know, over red wine for
several days. And we said, okay, when we got home
to New York, I have a few people that can call.
(28:59):
Maybe we can figure out how we can have a
kid in our life. We're sitting on the airplane and
this little brat behind it started kicking my seat and
that ended it. I said, you know, I don't I
don't hear any emotion at all in there.
Speaker 3 (29:13):
Yeah, but even listen you. I'm watching you listening to this,
and you get a little uncomfortable.
Speaker 1 (29:19):
I'm a sixty one year old man. I don't have
any kids, okay, And it's that ship has sailed. You know.
Speaker 6 (29:26):
He's always wanted to adopt like an older like girl
so that he could just like take care of.
Speaker 3 (29:30):
Her, right yeah, and spoil her her toil, send her
to Paris. Yeah, well, I don't know.
Speaker 5 (29:35):
We're not our baby.
Speaker 2 (29:37):
You just gave up on this.
Speaker 1 (29:38):
I want to have a baby with Gandhi, she refuses. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
but you got me to talk about that somehow, And
I think that's that's what.
Speaker 3 (29:48):
You talked about. You talked about it on your own really.
I mean we were talking about you know, we were
talking about my kids, Sophie, and then you started talking
about the fact that you know, that was something you considered,
but it never really happened.
Speaker 1 (30:01):
It never will, It's not gonna happen, and it saddens
me a little bit. I understand. So I'm gonna I'm
going to adopt brook child. Good No what Brook? He's rich?
So this is yah. Hold on, He's been making that
syndication radio money for a long time.
Speaker 5 (30:18):
That's why the baby is kind of enticing.
Speaker 1 (30:25):
We have a ton of sound from the podcast. What
else you want to hear? I don't know what. I
don't know what this means. This is the does he
keep you on time? Ate? Nobody knows what's going on here? Okay,
what does Nate do? Does he keep you on time?
Nate is more of an executive producer. Tries to keep
me on time, and as you've seen, that fails miserably.
(30:47):
But you know, we're not like a network TV show
where we have marks and ques we have to meet
that's the top of the hour, crap like that. We
just you know, I have to fit in a lot
of stuff in four hours and it's up to him
to get that done. That's what Nate does. Okay, what
is this? Hold on? What is happening here?
Speaker 5 (31:05):
We don't practice?
Speaker 1 (31:07):
What does this do on the radio? This is why
I've always wanted this job.
Speaker 2 (31:14):
Pretty great?
Speaker 1 (31:15):
What else is on here, Garrett? Like, what a scary
do He's a technical producer. Everything that's on computer that
has to be fed into my computer to push buttons
and failing miserably. Okay, let me let me hold on.
I need to set this up. Becau doesn't sound like
an interesting but let me let me set this up. Okay.
Speaker 3 (31:35):
I made the point that all you guys are characters
of this radio show and you and you and you participate,
you know, live with the mic, but you also have jobs, right,
and so like that's why I think it's interesting when
people know how people get their job done.
Speaker 1 (31:52):
And so that's what I was saying. Okay, I mean.
Speaker 2 (31:54):
I remember listening to this show when he was on
it once and and he was sitting there. Yeah, you
had him lead the hardest thing.
Speaker 1 (32:03):
In the world. It's not I did that because I've
asked him and he politely said yes. Because I wanted
to let him host the show. I think he could
do this. It's very hard.
Speaker 2 (32:13):
How did he do? He did great?
Speaker 5 (32:17):
Get a stellar cast.
Speaker 1 (32:20):
Well, that's what it means, that's what it takes. Okay,
So you guys have been here for forty five minutes
and we haven't talked about what we typically talk about.
We haven't talked about restaurants. We haven't talked about food.
We went to a great restaurant last night. Talk about it,
key k krudo Q. Yeah, welcome to the stage. It's
(32:41):
a crudo.
Speaker 3 (32:41):
It's a it's a very small place. It's in the
West Village. It's it's one counter. It probably has I
don't know, a dozen to sixteen seats and it's all
like you know, seafood, but beautiful like Mexican flavors.
Speaker 1 (32:57):
It's so good. We also had some margarita's really good.
Oh yeah, did you get all twisted? Yeah? I was
a little twisted. I'm into mescal lately. It's my thing, smokey,
I do. I went to Paros last night. You ever
go to Paros in Tribeca? Yeah, the Greek place. Yah,
very love it. My friend Leo is the manager there.
Had a great dinner last night, very good. Would you
(33:18):
have everything, every every Greek spread. No, like, did you
have like a whole fish? Yeah? We did Snapper Okay,
I didn't even know her. It's not funny. I have
an idea. Let's play a game. Okay, are you in
the game playing?
Speaker 3 (33:35):
Not really, but okay, do you have I hate games.
I was on Jimmy Fallon a few months ago and
he made me play a game, right, and it was
like a handful of other of his other guests and
to Week from the Roots and and oh my god,
and and it was what's what was the game called you?
Speaker 1 (33:55):
Basically like they they like.
Speaker 2 (33:57):
You have to guess from hints, right, you have to?
Speaker 1 (34:00):
Yeah, you have to.
Speaker 3 (34:01):
Oh so, like my partner, like Tarik would show me
something that would would be a word and I have
to get him to say.
Speaker 2 (34:09):
It like heads up, yeah, okay?
Speaker 1 (34:12):
And what was mine? He did? La booo? Your face
trying to say to Tarik like l A, I'm like
city in California.
Speaker 5 (34:29):
Trying to spell it out for him.
Speaker 1 (34:33):
Fallon was like, you don't know what a la boo
boo dollars? I'm like no.
Speaker 2 (34:37):
He calls me from the car afterwards, He's like, do
you know what a La Boo Boo was. It was like, Yeah,
all of America knows.
Speaker 5 (34:43):
What dond he gave me A La Boo bought a bunch.
Speaker 1 (34:48):
You put it on your purse.
Speaker 3 (34:53):
While we just got back from Tokyo and Humble Bragg,
and you know, the Boo Boo dolls are on everybody's purses.
Speaker 6 (35:03):
I think they're opening up a New York store just
a La Boo.
Speaker 1 (35:07):
You should you should be in charge of the menual
in their kitchen. The lavooa kitchen
Speaker 2 (35:12):
Now
