Speaker 1 (00:00):
Jason, look, I wish you were here. I know you're
on zoom, but the only problem with you on zoom.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
Is daniel can't sniff you what she always does. Then
what are you doing to me?
Speaker 3 (00:14):
I know, I know it's crazy. It's too cold over there.
Speaker 1 (00:18):
Really Anyway, Danielle, she found out you were on zoom,
She's like, I'm not coming in unless I can sniff
me some.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
Jason, I mean, okay, it's gonna be all right. Hey,
I was listening to Sexy for Me a little bit earlier.
Speaker 1 (00:31):
This is the kind of song I need before I
go out on the town, putting on my lipstick, getting
my hair done.
Speaker 2 (00:37):
You know this is a great song.
Speaker 3 (00:39):
Thank you so much. Yeah, you know that. That was
the gold man. I really wanted to create a song
that was that backdrop when you know women are getting
ready in the morning, it's like, what's gonna make you
feel like the most confident version of you, what's gonna
make you feel sexy? And the reception has been amazing, man,
So I'm really excited.
Speaker 1 (00:58):
Well, I mean with lyrics like ass up, face down
when she's dancing on me, how can you go wrong?
Speaker 2 (01:06):
And there's one I looked at the video. There's not
one ugly person in the video. Do you even know
ugly people?
Speaker 3 (01:12):
Uh? No, I don't. I don't.
Speaker 1 (01:14):
You don't allow you don't allow ugliness in your in
your zone.
Speaker 2 (01:20):
I don't know what. Well, look, I've got a question
about the project though.
Speaker 1 (01:24):
The Last Dance Part one came out earlier this year,
but Last Dance Part two's later this year. And I
read somewhere that you're calling this the Last Dance because
it's kind of like your last dance with one era
of your music and career, and you're planning on moving
to something new, something fresh.
Speaker 2 (01:42):
Is that kind of what this is about? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (01:44):
For sure. So for me, you know, I think it's
a beautiful thing that you can wake up in the
morning and feel like today I want to be different.
But I think there's been a gradual change in me,
you know, in the way that I carry myself as
a man of interest that I have the place is
that I'm going. Uh, the way that I speak, the
way that I dress, you know, is constantly you know, evolving,
(02:07):
you know. So as I evolve as a man, I
feel like the music will do the same, you know.
So the first half of this album is a celebration
of who I've been, you know, throughout these years, and uh,
the second half will be the beginning of the evolution.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
So it's gonna have a different sound in texture. Huh
is it death metal?
Speaker 3 (02:31):
You know? That sound like the first time somebody asked
me that, But that's actually not the first time that.
Speaker 2 (02:37):
So how have you been? What have you done lately? Jason?
Speaker 1 (02:40):
That does this major go wow? Life is frigging awesome
right now for me?
Speaker 3 (02:45):
Oh man, I just got off tour. So I was
on tour in Europe and in the UK for the
last three months and it's been the most amazing experience
of my life. I mean, uh, that's just the fact
that you know, I get to be up and some
personal with the people, but also the fact that I
got to put on the show that I've always wanted
to put on. Also, I was doing these flash moms
(03:08):
outside of the venues, you know, so the people that
couldn't get tickets to the show, because you know, there's
there was a sold out tour, the people that couldn't
get the tickets, I went out where they were, you know,
selling tickets and the outside and I was doing performances
outside of the of the arena. So it was it
was a lot of fun, man.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
And you got a book. Don't you have a children's
book out too, that you just put out?
Speaker 3 (03:31):
I do, yes, yes, inspired by little Bubba who I
got to wake up and you know, in a few
minutes to But yeah, I I wrote a book called
Sing Your Name Out Loud, you know, a couple of
years ago, and I tried to read it for him
and it was just a little it was a little
too over his head, you know. So I wanted to
(03:51):
create a version that I felt I could inspire, you know,
kids in the same way that you know that I
was inspired.
Speaker 1 (03:59):
That's really cool inspiring other people. And you come from
very humble beginnings. You you make no secret about that.
And you, out of all the people we've interviewed over
the year's Jason Derulo, you always take stock in what
you have learned about how you got to where you are.
You're always inspiring for others, and your inspirational vibe is
always on point and at a hundred up. And you
(04:21):
always make us feel good. It's only your smell.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
But I mean, don't you guys always feel good with
Jason drills around. I mean you just do. Anytime people
ask us who our favorite guests are, You're always on
the list.
Speaker 3 (04:34):
Oh thanks very much, Thank you guy.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
And I like to interview you in your living room
and you're wearing a jacket with absolutely no shirt whatsoever.
Speaker 3 (04:45):
Hey, just so you know, Elvis, I don't think I'm
wearing a shirt for the next year.
Speaker 2 (04:53):
It's just the new Jason Derila, the new chapter. No
Shirt's allowed is that.
Speaker 3 (04:58):
Man, my diet on tour, it was so clean and
I'm just getting I'm trying to get it ready for summer, right,
So I don't think I'm throwing all the shirts away.
All I've seen in the last three months is soup, salmon,
baked chicken breast. I don't even like baked chicken breast.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
If you're gonna cheat, do you have a cheat meal
that you would go to.
Speaker 3 (05:23):
Yeah. If I'm gonna cheat, I'm not gonna go too crazy.
I'm gonna do something like No. Actually, the other night
I went too crazy. I had a I had a
volcano cake and been a ice cream.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
That's my favorite dessert every day.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
Yeah, volcano cake with been ice cream. It goes in
the same as it comes out. I mean if you've
been doing nothing but salmon and eating clean, that's that stuff.
Will that will wreck you?
Speaker 3 (05:56):
Yeah, there's nothing stopping after coming out for show.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
So why did you decide You told us a little
bit a second ago, but why did you decide to
make a specific lying in the sand. I'm going from
part one to part two of the Last Dance and
it's a new met Why did you want to share
it with the world like that?
Speaker 3 (06:16):
Because I started to notice the change in myself, and yeah,
and that change in myself, I was like, okay, So,
like I noticed it happening, and if it's happened organically,
then it's supposed to happen, right, And that change as
a man, I think is important. U. So I decided
to make it a definite thing and make it an
(06:39):
entire shift. So I think it's a beautiful day because
today is actually when I'm starting part two. So I'm
I'm really excited. I haven't made music really. I did
a couple of features, I recorded a couple of features
while I was on the road, but I haven't really
made music in the last three months, So I'm excited
to dive in.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
When you talk about changes that you've seen in yourself.
What type of changes have you seen?
Speaker 3 (07:05):
Honestly, it's it's really the basics, you know. Like like
I said, it's like the way that I'm dressing, how
I'm speaking to people. Even my interactions with with women
you know are are are different now than they work.
And uh, it's I guess it's just about knowing more
about life, knowing more about myself, knowing more about what
(07:26):
I want, knowing more about what works. Back in the day,
you know, I would be partying, drinking big vibes in
this time, you know, after the show, you can find
me in bed, you know, trying to get my eight hours,
you know what I'm saying. So so that that difference
(07:47):
I feel like is is a real thing, you know.
So I wanted to. I want the music to do
the same.
Speaker 1 (07:55):
So Part two will be that, but part we're still
in Part one. Now, let's do it. In the words
of Jason Derulo, s up, face down. I'm gonna put
that on my tombstone after I quote, let's do it
sexy for me.
Speaker 2 (08:12):
It's Jason Derulo. Thank you, Jason.
Speaker 1 (08:14):
He
