Speaker 1 (00:00):
Club football time. Let's have a look at the day's
National League action. Dale or ursion is with us morning Dale. Yeah, good, good, thanks,
pretty excited for what lies aheads across the weekend, especially Tonightdale.
But let's look at round six of the National League. So, yeah,
we're ticking along in this competition, aren't we. Let's start
though by talking action up in Hawk's Bay. Napia City
(00:22):
Rovers hosting cash Me Technical today.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
Yeah, I guess, and I keep themselves in a pretty
good space. They're up and forth there with two wins
to draws and a lott and eight points. They're just
two points off the top two watcher they'll be looking for.
They had a pretty good four to two win over
Western Suburbs, but spent most of the second half with
just ten players after their goalkeeper and Tony got sent off.
(00:47):
They decided not to put a reserve goalkeeper on the
bench prior to that game signed out for their to
go and goal, so they're probably pretty thankful they managed
to get away with the one there to keep their
final chuncels alive. Their cash Me Tech just blow them
two points so the back and I think I lost
for Cashia Checkers start knocking teams out pretty quickly about
(01:08):
finals contentions. So I think for Kashmia they really need
to win that one and if they don't, they'll be
gone and then they're just playing for pride at the
end of the end of the season, all right.
Speaker 1 (01:17):
And here on wellingson o past one Martin Lucky Park
Wellingson Olympic fifth on the ladder taking on Burkenhead United,
who have had a pretty good campaign so far.
Speaker 2 (01:25):
Yeah, still in a pretty curious position really, so it's
a big game for them. They are Western Springs three
to last week thanks to goal so Kevin Hoy, Hoy,
Jannaherzerkus and Prince. They went turn Our ahead before gemped
back to two two and then Hoy scored them Winter
just after half time. They left them to eight points,
(01:46):
two points behind Birkenhead and second with four games to go.
I think, and they lose this, I think that's probably
their season, season done. They probably really need to beat
them to get above Birkenhead when they'll be just three
games for all games to go after that.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
Yeah, wonderful other games today, All Coastal Spirit are hosting
Eastern Suburbs down in christ Church tomorrow. Another game featuring
non Wellington teams Auckland City and Western Springs. But then
here in the Capital at four o'clock tomorrow, Dale Phoenix
Reserves hosting Western Suburbs at Fraser Park, but of a local.
Speaker 2 (02:18):
One, yeah, local one, but probably two teams that are
really out of the running. Fox down in eight on
four points and Western Suburbs and tenths on one. Suburbs
won both of these Central League games by a single
goal between the two, but it feels like Suburbs are
hobbling towards the end of the season. They had that
four to two loss last week, and despite having an
extra demand for most of the second half and have
(02:40):
conceded eighteen goals already in five games, they're only scored
six themselves, so they're kind of struggling in this National League.
Aspects Phoenix themselves, they lost four to t Burkenhead. They
went down to Monty Patterson Patrick's there so that they
might go in as some favoites, but some favorites, but
probably expect a pretty close game between those two.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
Yeah, wonderful and tonight at sky Stadium Dale five o'clock.
I've seen you make a lot of comments in the
media this week on behalf of the Yellow Fever. Just
tell us, I guess from your perspective what derby like
this actually means, you know for Phoenix fans and football
followers around Wellington.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
Yeah, I think in general it's pretty exciting to have
like another team in the competition of a bit of
difference from previous seasons. I think, you know, in every
sort of thing, ex. Home game, you look across their
way section, you're lucky as you get more more than
ten people across there. So it sounds like Auckland a
brilliance of three or four hundred people down, which would
(03:37):
be good and create a bit more atmosphere and you know,
later bit there's a challenge down for us in Yellow
Fever to up our game as well to you know,
to make sure we have a bit of a fortress
there for the Phoenix. So yeah, exciting to have, you know,
some more competition in the league.
Speaker 1 (03:54):
And if people are wanting to join some of the
Yellow Fevers festivities, is it tesp Arena where you're meeting
a bit.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
Later on, Yeah, we're we gather at the Featherston Bar
on Silverston Street. From there enough, but from four o'clock
we'll gather down at under the Sales at testp Arena
and we'll march down to the Townsa Stadium following down
the down down the waterfront, so we have a drum
and some flags and create a bit of chanting scene
(04:19):
as we go down there. So everyone's all welcome. We've
had kids there two weeks ago, so there's nothing nothing
to worry about where we're there to create a good
family environment. So if anyone wants to join and come
come join us down the waterfront.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
Great to hear. Good on your Dale and hope it
goes really well and I hope it's positive results tonight
at sky Stadium as well. Thanks your time as always, Dale.
We'll catch up next week. Yeah, look forward to talk
to you that Dale will be in with the National
League and a bit of a yellow fever updates ahead
of the big derby at sky Stadium just quickly. In
the Women's National League today David Farrington Park playing host
(04:53):
to Waterside Rory. They're the leading Wellington team and the
Women's National League at the moment up against Canterbury United.
Wellington United have the trip up to Auckland to meet
Auckland United FC tomorrow the Phoenix Women's Reserves at Fraser
Park host Central Football Federation as the Wellington based teams
in the Women's National League, with that Round six today
(05:15):
