Speaker 1 (00:00):
Twenty two to eight here on the Allsport Breakfast on
Wellington's newss. He'd be great to have your company on
another Saturday morning. Time to chat to club Rugby looking
ahead to the weekend. It's great to be joined as
always by our club Rugby, Guru, Adam Julian.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
When is he Adam, Yeah, he Adam, Nice to be
back on the show.

Speaker 1 (00:16):
You got to have you as always, mate. Well, let's
go to the table. A month into the competition, Old
Boys University the only unbeaten team, four from four, so
showing some of that form that or maybe we saw
from them a couple of seasons ago. Returning other teams
were three from four records of Hullaboys. Maris Tawa for
Tooni and why no your marta, Adam. Let's go to
the weekend's games and well, the opposite end of the

(00:38):
table is where we go to at Fraser Park. Are
Avalon up against Ponicking.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
And that's the dance of the desperate because both those
sides haven't won. Although Pornicky last Saturday, Adam, we're in
an extraordinary position to win. They scored four unconverted tries
to lead twenty to zero and then they led thirty
nine to nineteen. But you have to shut Tawa out

(01:04):
because Tawa are a perennial contender and they've got several
important players back now after their diabolical showing in round one,
and they searched ahead with three quick converted tries to
lead forty to thirty nine, and then Pornicky had a
late chance to win the game but missed the penalty,

(01:24):
so it finished forty to thirty nine in favor of
Tawa in one of the more remarkable games that's been
witnessed in the last several seasons at him.

Speaker 1 (01:37):
Yes, indeed, well, that will be interesting to see who
gets the win on the board for that one. It's
going to the hot wreck Huddle Boys Maris versus Marrison Pats.
What have you got for this one?

Speaker 2 (01:46):
Well, Huddle Boys Maris were humbled by Old Boys University
last Saturday, their first loss and indeed just their second
in the last eleven games. Similarly, Marison Pats overpowered by
Marta thirty four seventeen at Emmons Bay Park. I suspect
that's the biggest margin between WinUI Are Marta and MSP

(02:09):
since Wineri Amata won a very famous Jubilee Cup semi
final in twenty fourteen. The score that day twenty six thirteen,
Jeff two Munger Allen was dramatically injured early in the
game and WinUI a Marta run a mark as they
did on Saturday. So MSP, after a promising start two wins,

(02:31):
have now dropped their last two games and faced a
hudd Old Boys Mariside smarting from their defeat. Hud Old
Boys Mariat have enjoyed the ascendency in this fixture for
several years now and I suspect that will continue all right.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
Couple of teams that will probably want to get a
move on if they do want to be in the
mix for Jubilee Cup later in the year. Johnsonville and
orient A Wrong atty at Helston.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
Park Well Oriental wrong Attye at least open their account
after five consecutive loss beating Avalon seventy one thirty one.
It was a very lively match. Avalon had some nice moments.
They actually managed to score five tries, which is more
tries than they've managed to score in any fixture last year,

(03:14):
so that's encouraging for the Wolves. Oriental Wrongattai will take
a lot of confidence from their first win. Indeed, in
those five losses they had two narrow defeats by less
than ten points, so I'm predicting an upset to Ares
to get their campaign further back on track.

Speaker 1 (03:33):
All right, let's head out North Naziita Paramatta Plumas and
hosting North always a good derby this one.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
It short is these two clubs don't like each other
very much. There is some history there with Jered Basafalhu
now the director of rugby and coach at Panamata Plymouth
and having won a Jubilee Cup at Norse in twenty
nineteen and headed across the pond to revive the Hammerheads
who were really struggling for several seasons. In fact, they

(04:02):
went on a tenure where they won eight of eighty
six games, and when Jared arrived they won four games
in their first season under his command, and then they
won fourteen in a row to make the Jubilee Cup final.
Now they're very healthy club with wilatively strong numbers and
a very settled roster. They were very impressive winners too

(04:26):
against Upper Hut last Saturday thirty nine to twelve Northern United.
Unfortunately they imploded in their match. They had some reason
for encouragement after a narrow lost to Huddld Boys Mariston,
an epic win from nineteen kneel down against Johnsonville. That
they regressed last Saturday, and it'll be hard to win Nahitao,

(04:49):
which I'm delighted to report as in pristine condition after
the flood wiped out the Avalon fixture there two weeks ago,
and that Avalon fixture still to be resolved to when
that'll be played.

Speaker 1 (05:01):
Ye made it amazing what modern drainage can do. Let's
go to what many will be considering, Adam, that the
match of the rounds one plays three and it's Tawa
with the hosting rights for the Leader's Old Boys University.

Speaker 2 (05:13):
This is a replay of the twenty twenty four Jubilee
Cup final which owed the YOUU won by twenty seven
to twenty one. Tawer have the likes of George o'seiy
and Mario all Black Camera Hoy. He part of part
of that and that strengthens their prospects significantly. Old Boys
University incredibly impressive win against hud Old Boys Maris last Saturday, Adam.

(05:36):
They lost both starting props against arguably the most imposing
scrum in the competition, and yet they still won handsomely.
And their approach is the direct opposite of Tawa, who
play direct and belligerent. The students fast and nimble with
an efficient pack, and I'm predicting they'll go to Lyndhurst

(05:59):
Park and remain unbeaten.

Speaker 1 (06:01):
Okay, looking forward to that one. Why do your Massa
over the hell hosting Potoni. This will be a good
match up too.

Speaker 2 (06:06):
This is a great day, Adam old Timer's day at
William Jones Park for the Darren Larson Cup. Darren Larson
a prominent coach at both clubs who's now involved with
the recruitment and age group coaching in the Hurricanes. I've
been playing for this trophy for twenty years. Pattoni won
the first one thirty nine twenty seven and then remarkably

(06:29):
Why Do Amara went on a ten year run where
they were unbeaten against Pottoni. There was a twenty six
all draw in that tenure. Bentupola dramatically scored a last
minute try in twenty twenty they called it the nick
of Trey Adam Trey MoU scored a try at twenty
three all from a reubn Love kickoff that dribbled within

(06:50):
a meter of the dead ballline. Caren Green stared at it,
let it go, The ball stayed in and moo came
through like a common and touch down. Scenes of bedlam
at William Jones Park that dawn, and then two years
ago Jason Love celebrated his two hundredth game in this fixture. Love,
one of the real personalities of Wellington Club Rugby, a

(07:13):
prolific tri scorer, rapper and winer. Amada against a Platoni
team that had four Hurricanes in the back line led
with fifteen minutes to go before the Cream rose to
the top. Both the sides are on three wins. One
who were mad a fantastic victory against Marison Pat's last
Saturday Campbell Cowley two tries, Raymond Barta scored a double

(07:35):
in three games, Brandon Soy and Elijah Solomona two loose forwards,
adding you venom to win. Who Amada side that jokingly
has been aging for the last decade, So don't give
it Hicks against Battoni, who have a stronger roster than
what they had last week because they have kind of
twofl and Lossi Filipo two Wellington lines back. They got

(07:58):
to go to Hong Kong playing this thing called the
Tens which celebrated its fortieth anniversary and that runs parallel
to the Hong Kong Sevens. This is a game I'm
going to look at. Why no Amada and Botany it'll
be a great day and why do Imada to win?
Just to wind up those on Jackson Street there you.

Speaker 1 (08:18):
Go, and to wrap up the Axe Men back home
at Tito Park against the Rams and bit of a
unique but a silver ware. These three teams play.

Speaker 2 (08:25):
For that's it and Wellington now had two wins this year.
They won by fifty seven to twenty seven last Saturday,
which was a smashing success for them. Upperhut humbled by
Paramount of Plymouth and thirty nine twelve. They were awful
in that game and really languishing in the bottom half

(08:50):
of the table. The Rams needing a win at High
Tito Park against a research in Wellington to get their
campaign back on track. But I'm not sure they'll do
it and haven't touched that prestigious silverware for a long time,
so it could be a hearty celebration at High Titi Pak.

Speaker 1 (09:09):
Brilliant all games two forty five will have score updates
and results here on news Talk ZB through the afternoon.
Great to catch up as always, Adam much appreciated. It's
until your weekend.
