Our rotation this week sees us talking the Women's Central
League getting towards the business end of the competition now.
So let's head to our contributor for this weekend and
it's the Seaton goalkeeper Alex Currancy with us.

Well morning, Adam. Yeah, is doing really well, thanks.

And I see business end of the season.

Is that sort of how the mentality of the teams
is working at the moment the way you described this point.
Speaker 3 (00:25):
Yeah, absolutely, you're being on the money there and the
title rate is just cracked open as well. Obviously with
the game previous week was United and but Tony was
coming away with five that Friday night, which is really cool.
They kept the Nora Watkins shield as well, so it's
definitely opened up that gap at the tour at the
top of the table. It's United to lose now in

a lot of regards, so it's going to be an
interesting one this weekend.

Yeah, absolutely, Well, let's start up in Palmerston North and
usually these teams are either having to travel or some
team is traveling up just to play them. But a
local derby up in Palmerston North with Marist up against FC.
Speaker 3 (01:01):
Yeah, I think both these teams will be quite pleased.
I don't have the trail too far, which would be great,
and it's an early one for them as well. But look,
they've both had interesting seasons. Obviously, Thomaston North United are
at the kind of top end of the table with
Marit at the lower end, but as you said, it's
the Derby, so anything can happen. I think both teams
will bring a strong game for United. Annibal Irwin's kind
(01:22):
of their stand out at the moment was goals for
the year, so it's definitely one to watch in the game.
And look, you know Maris has had a couple of
tough defeats with a few high scoring games against them,
but you know, nothing brings out a little bit of
fight like as Derby does. So in terms of like results,
it's a hard one to predict. I mean, I'd love
to see an upset, but I do think United might

edgit just with there the way they set up in structure,
but never seen any of all.

Right, eleven thirty kickoff for that one up the line
at midday at CALAUI Parker. I guess many would consider
this the match of the rounds throughout two of the
teams in that sort of top three breakaway group waterside
Krori hosting the leaders, Well we can unite it.

Yeah, this one's definitely the one that matters this round.
The wharfes are you know, doing to get top of
the table. It's going to be a tough one. Their
mindset's going to have to be strong, especially if they
want to stay in the National League picture. That's obviously
what they're gunning for. They do have games in hand
which could work their advantage, but again they're going to
be coming out looking for this. On the flip side
of that, though, United is smashing it really Hannah Peely
(02:23):
on I think twenty five goals for the season, which
is absolutely wild and fantastic to see really a high
scorer like that. So, you know, I just know how
to score goals, and they do have a range of
goal scorers, but look, Corey at home has always been difficult.
They have real fire power as well with Sophie Birchfield
and Renee Bacon, so they're also you know, up towards

that top end of the top goal scorers. So I
don't know if it'll be a high scoring game necessarily,
but look, the result will definitely you know, put a tawe.
If United do to take it away, then they'll just
make more clearance up the top there. Whereas you know,
if Corey can show up on the day, they could
definitely up set it and just make that title race
even closer with only a handful of games to go.

So I would love to see Carori win just to
kind of you open the title race again. But I
feel like this one is going to be one that
a few teams, even some of our Seaton gals, that
might even pop down and just have a watch just
because it'll be really interesting.

And of course the other team Alex in that title
race p Toni here in second are heading into the
round obviously they had Taradale drawn this weekend. Taradale no
longer there. Can you just remind our listeners what happens
in terms of points for Potni, Yes.

So basically without Paradale are sadly having to pull out,
which is very unfortunate to see that a team has
to do that through the season. So the points for
this game basically don't count for this round, so all
of the points for teams for the second round A
basically just been skipped over, so no points for Patony
this time. They just kind of have to sit there
and relax a little bit, have a nice weekend off.

They'll probably be interested in seeing that Karori United game
for sure, but you know, we asked to see the
departure of Taradatho are a great team and I know
travel was definitely a hard one for them being they've
got to go such a distance, but yeah, sad to see,
and yeah, I suppose nice and easy for for.

And another big one mir of my range is up
against the Phoenix team again, probably pretty evenly match shitting
into this one.

Yeah, again a bit more of an interesting one. You know,
Mirrama have had quite a solid season. They're sitting there
in the mid table and they're doing well in terms
of you know, they've got a goal threat in Iris
Rouitti gold there seven on the air I believe for her,
which is pretty good and she definitely stands up in
those moments, which is good. And they have played the
Phoenix before and that was a two two draw, so

a good one for them. It'll be interesting there at home,
and Miramar are again a team that likes to dominate
at home, so it'll be a tough one. They have
been scoring up some points as well. They've they even
got both off the parme sides recently as well, so
definitely a good one for them. The Phoenix, I would
say wild cards in the league. You know they're young
that quit their fit, but I think for them it's

definitely been an up and down season. You know, one
minute their top lings, you know, league leaders and bits
and pieces, and then you know they do turn over
the next week. So I think that's been something that
they've been working on, which is good to see, especially
for the youth coming through. It'll be interesting as a
coin flip in my opinion. I mean the Phoenix show
off on the day, they can definitely be lethal, but
the same with Mirama they can be just as lethal.

So I wouldn't be surprised if it was another draw,
but I do wonder if Mirriamam might just eache them
with that home advantage.

All right, And then wrapping up the weekend's action, a
Sunday game for your Seaturn team at home against University.
What's the preparation been looking like for this one.
Speaker 3 (05:39):
Yeah, we've definitely been prepping hard. I think it's a
kind of testament to this whole league is no one's
an easy walkover, and I don't think I don't think
vi Unia and I'm sure they don't think we are
as well. Both both of us have had our ups
and downs. We've managed to hit quite a nice little
streak of some good winds and draws, so you know,
we're definitely looking at the Sundans and the good chance
(06:00):
for us to get three points and are sure. But
Puny on the other side are also doing the same.
We didn't manage to beat them earlier in the season one, Neil.
It was a tight game, to be honest. So we'll
be definitely looking our home ground. We know what our
pitch can be, like the old Tea Tunes bobble, so
we'll be definitely playing to our strength that Guney will
not be a hard one to put away necessarily. We
(06:22):
all look to get some good goals in there for sure,
and they'll be looking to pinch some past us. So
it's not an interesting one. I mean again, I don't
really want to drinx it. I would like clean sheet,
as all goalkeepers do, so we'll just I'll just sit
with that. I would like a clean sheet and we'll
go from there.
