Ahead of round three of football's Chatham Cup, Adam Cooper previewed the weekend's action with Joe Serci from the Tackld podcast.
They also updated the continued growth of All White Tim Payne's social media presence, and made some predictions for the World Cup.

attention to the national club knockout competitions again, Round three
of both the Chatham Cup for the men and Kate
Shepherd Cup for the women. Our football rotation this week
sees us talking the men's game. Joe Cercy from the

this year's competition, which means over one hundred games. So
some pretty hard stretches of work coming up, hard stretches
of watching football. When I say work, I mean hard
stretches of watching.

Football exactly, exactly interesting times now. A couple of weeks ago, Joe,
we were talking just when this Tim Payne Instagram whole
story had started to blow up. I think he was
at a couple of million when we last spoke a
couple of saturdays ago. Obviously, the All Whites are only
a few days out from playing their first game against Iran,
and he is very much it's been the superstar of

the News Ahead and Team. As a result of all that,
hasn't he.

The superstar of social media now? Just to give you
a sense where he's at, So Tim Payne had one
of those exclusive one of those divine, his own slot,
his own reel on the Instagram account. So Instagram has
its own account on Instagram. That Instagram account has six

one of those exclusive reels. It's what every social media
fanatic dreams off. Tim Payne's post on Instagram got one
point four million likes, just like slone. I can't I
can't ascertain how many views it had. And just to

go back two weeks ago when the story was sort
of first breaking, was standing edging out. At that time, Adam,
he was on a million follows your exact words were,
and counting. He's now on five point six million follows.
There's been a lot of posts from different people all
over the Instagram world saying he now has more follows

than the entire population of New Zealand. Like I said
to you a couple of weeks ago, this man has.
This is bigger than winning lotto and he doesn't even
need to kick a ball in football. This has been
in the Football World Cup. This has already been a
very successful World Cup for Tim Payne. All started just
to bring it back because an Argentinian influencer on TikTok

did his research, said Tim Payne, he's at the World Cup.
He's only got four seven hundred followers. Let's support the guy.
It's gone ballistic. There's even rumors that there's a football
club in Argentina wants to sign him. So we might
not even see Tim Payne back in Wellington. Who knows
what his football in future holds. He might not even
need a football in future. His future could be purely

on social media.

I hope that guy gets a cut at some point
of when it all comes to fruition. Right, let's talk
local football job. So are interesting happenings in the Central
League obviously taking a pause this week, but jeez, those
three teams at the top are continuing to win, and
they've even got another team bringing down the Necks very closely.

That's right. We've now reached half or gone past halfway
stage of the competition. So we say there's ten teams
in the competition, so nine games is halfway. We were
nine plus one. So we've had ten games or ten
rounds in this year Central League, and there were some
really interesting results over the past weekend. We saw West's

at Indeva Park draw with Napier three all. At one
point West were down three to one. They came back.
They've shown a lot of tenastity this season to come
back from different scenarios. They actually thought they had scored
a fourth goal. Unfortunately for them, the referee ruled it
off side. If you check the footage though, maybe they
were a little bit rong because it looked like the

striker running into the box, running in to get the
ball it perfectly timed has run and they'll still settle
for that three all draw. And again in the top four,
like you mentioned Mirramar and Olympic they had a one
all draw. So the top teams are not losing points
or gaining points from each other. That top breakaway group,

they're still bout in a way. And just having a
look at some of these results, Adam, there's a few coincidences.
So Miramar an Olympic they've now played twice. Both times
the game finished one all. Also looking at round ten results,
the Battle of the Hutt Valley this year Upper Hut
have well and truly won that They've achieved accolades over

the Batoni Club on in round ten Upper Heart one
two nel against Botoni. In round one they also won
two nel against Botoni. And then another phenomenal score was
Waterside Corry beat Ibu beat Island Bay United four nell.
If you go back to round one it was four
nell result, but it was the other way round in

the sense that at Island Bay in the opening week
of football beat Watersoy Crory Fournell. So Waterside Crory have
evened up the ledger in their battle against Ireland Bay.
And on Sunday we had a very big result. Our
friends up in New Plymouth FC Western scored a night
two to one win over the Wellington Phoenix Reserves. That's

their first win, that's their first points in this year's competition.
I gave a phone call to the club captain Matt
Scott to congratulate him on the result and wishing them.
I asked him the obvious question, which was you must
be celebrating and he said, nah, I'm actually on the
building site clearing up, cleaning up some things on a
Sunday because we've got a busy week ahead, so our

typical hard working club captain maybe. But one thing Matt
did say is things are yelling nicely for the team.
They've got the whole squad together, practices are going well.
Expect a little bit more from them in the second
round the games. In week one as well, Adam I
mentioned to you that ifc Western are looking to play
some games at Stadium Taranaki, they were allowed to play

games at Stadium Taranaki, but because that stadium set up
for rugby, they weren't allowed to remove the rugby post.
They would have had to put the goals in front
of the rugby post, which would have shortened the field,
so they decided against using Stadium Taranaki at that point.
They are now allowed to use that coveted pitch on
nineteen July where they'll host Waterstow Corry, so they will

have one game on that smooth surface up there in
New Plymouth.

Great, that's great news for them.

Let's get to Round three of the Chatham Cup. Four
games today in the Wellington region featuring our central teams.
Should we start at Seaturn Park? Nice for seatun to
be at this point of the competition. Joe and A
tough one n up against Pattoni.

Well seedn't come into this game having lost last weekend
for Nell to North Wellington, and I dare say Patoni
was their coach, rookie coach Sam Pickering. He's looking at
their results in Central League one this season, two wins
in one draw, They're only on seven points. They'll probably
be disappointed with that, so I think Patani will get
up to maximize their Chatham Cup run. Special mention goes

out to young Patoni goalkeeper Lucas Siegel. He's now saved
three penalties in Central League football, so if this game
goes the extra time, if it goes beyond extra time
goes to penalties, Luca might become a key man for Patoni.
But I think Botany should take this all right up
the roads.

We've got Parmason North Maris hosting another team from outside Wellington,
naper City Rovers.

Yeah, this will be an interesting clash. Palmas North Maris
have had mixed form in Central League two. Last weekend
they lost three zero at home to the wire rapid
team Douglas Villa Napier City Rovers. Boy, they've packed stacked
with admission this season. They probably enjoyed a shorter travel
time to Parmerston North compared to coming down to Wellington.

Expect the Central League One team to get.

The cookies at the same time. The three games so
far two pm kickoff. This will be at David Farrington
Parkner of My Rangers hosting Western Suburbs.

Okay. This is the big one and I think if
you are looking for some local football this weekend, David
Farrington would be a great venue of choice. West are
the only team to have beaten Mirramar Rangers this season.
It was a one nil win not that far back
in round nine. Interesting enough, Wests have now played in

four one Neil games. I've won three lost one. If
you look at Miramar's form, they've really kept you know,
they've kept four clean sheets. They've never considered more than
one goal. Their home record is three wins one draw.
But I don't know, I'm slightly favoring West on this one.
I don't know why. I think probably because in my

very last podcast I talked to the coach coaches from
West and a very convincing gentlemen, and they seem well
motivated for this cap tie. Maybe an upset, maybe the
away team to win a one Nell. But like I say,
these teams have a record of keeping things tight in
the back, and I think it's going to be a

clash at Memorial Park under the lights where they beat

playing catch up games with the Chandam Cup. But if
you look at stopout form it's not much better either.

Well, I've got England in our sweepstakes, so that gives
me enough reason to go with them. Finally it's going

And I've got to say this one stat to you, though, Adam,
I always come prepared with statistics. Has been twenty two
World Cups and every team that's won the World Cup,
their coach has been, you know, it was a national
of that country. So no expats, no foreign coaches have

ever won the World Cup managed to take their adopted
country to the winning podium. You've gone for Turkle, the German,
to lead England to World Cup glory, something they haven't
achieved for sixty years. I'm looking and of course I'm
biased with my Italian background. I'm looking at an Italian
Carlo Ancelotti. He's coaching Brazil and I'm looking at his numbers,

and I've got to tell you one thing about Carlo Ancelotti.
He's a very good coach. He's also the most paid
coach in the world. I believe he's on twenty million
dollars a year. Brazil has just extended his contract and
I'm looking at his record here, Adam, and it's five wins,
two draws, three losses. It's not really the best record,

but a lot of people are saying Ancelotti is the
man that could guide Brazil, returned Brazil to some Cup glory.
All I wish is that maybe my career counselor way
