Adam Cooper is joined by Dale Warburton to preview the penultimate round of the men's National League for 2025, and what the permutations look like for Miramar Rangers and Olympic.

It's going to men's National League Football. Now two rounds

to go before the top two teams meet and the final.
Dale Warburton is our local football analysts with US god.

I Dale, Yeah, good morning a game.

Speaker 1 (00:10):
I'm pretty tired at the top, isn't It's miram Rangers
and that top spot by points differential, tied on points
with the Western Springs Olympic back to third. Now, Dale,
it's heading up, isn't it With a couple of weekends
to play.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
Yeahs. I don't think anyone would have expected Mirramar to
jump from third to first in the course of a weekend,
but I went for them and a few results win
in their favor, and yeah they're an artist pole position
with two games to go.

Speaker 1 (00:34):
Indeed, all right, well let's talk Mirramar Rangers. Firstly, in
today's games, they're at home taking on local team as well,
Western Suburbs, so probably a good chance for them to
keep that buffer up the.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
Top, you'd think. So struggling little bit towards the sort
of middle to lower end of the table, but I
guess for Mirramar they'll be stoked with the weekend that was.
They did their part with a good four one win
over burking Head. They went down one all sort of
lake in the first half before pigging it back to
one more one one just before the break thanks to
Nicholas bob Ida and then Owen Smoth, Andy Bevan and

theare scored in the in the second half to gain
a vaaluable three points to them. And they've really started
to get there there said, they're tacking flow going on
and I've scored twenty two goals in eight games, which
is a league record at the moment. But yeah, we
traveled down to David Farrington Park, they built well into
sorry Auckland United by no thanks to a bit of
a late winner there, so put them in that sort

of seventh spot in a congested lower half the table.
But for me, I guess, I guess it's all in
their control. I guess I wouldn't it today. And then
a draw next week West Olympic, we'll see enough will
be enough with them for a finals play. So you
see how this afternoon game goes out.

All right, let's talk Olympic now. And yeah, a couple
of surprising defeats these last couple of weeks. They've got
another trip up to Auckland to try and redeem themselves
this afternoon. Auckland united their opponents.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
Yeah, they do a cop back to back losses for them,
which is very unusual, and for the second break in
a row they coughed up in a lead to lose.
In fact, they led twice at last weekend against christ
which night and four THINCTU she's losing three to Gianna
Bizukus scored in the just the second minute and then
again about an hour into the game to put them
to one up, but then a couple of late goals

in the last twenty minutes inflected inflicted a couple of
losses for Olympics. So they've dropped down to third, but
I guess they still weirdly have a final spot in
their hands as they do as I mentioned, Zoo play
Mirim Rangers in that final week, so they could certainly
leap from them. With two wins in the final two games,
they probably should go into favorites despite the travel up

to Auckland. This is a repeat of the Channel Cup
final where Wellington Olympic one four to two. Hamish Watson
was a big difference on that day, but I understand
he's been out for a few weeks with injury, so
they have to manage perhaps another weekend without Hamish Top,
but yeah, it must must win, really territory for one
to olpic later today all right.

In another weddings at Auckland Band all two teams out
of contention obviously for the final, the Phoenix Reserves hosting
Berkenhead United.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
Yeah, there's not a lot happening here, I guess eighth
berken And Nights and then the Fens down and tenth
the Phoenix went down to last week into Auckland Sidy prips.
Not surprising given the sort of experience of the Auckland
City side which as I said, Burkenhe had that very
heavy loft to Murmur Rangers. I guess, so the Phoenix
the wind Wood would jump them above burken here as
they do get the three points. But other than that,

it's really just about the minor placings kind of this
stage of the season indeed.

And then the other one to look out for of
course tomorrow, which will have well possibly some impact on
the permutations as Western Springs the joint leaders hosting fourth
placed Auckland City. So I'm sure a lot of the
Wellington teams all be keeping an eye on that one day.
