go back to back in the Jubilee Cup. The last

Long time Patoni player Can Green is now the clubs

you'd be pretty motivated for the game given it's against

Yeah, we're really excited. Obviously we don't normally get to
play them by Yeah, so playing three times and even
special like McBain and then we played them again and
then obviously final they're defending chaps and we're going out
there trying to win. It's cool, but it's a big
day for the club with our women and our senior
ones in the final as well, and the senior ones
are putting hot too, so it's going to be all go. Yeah. Great.

Obviously a thrilling win in the semi finals last weekend
is that, you know, momentum have you in good start
heading into this one?

Yeah, I think so. We're going one hundred minutes against
the classy effort like Upper Hut, we'll have the confidence high. Yeah,
it was an interesting back and forth game, but yeah,
we'll take a lot of confidence out of that knowing
to come back from fourteen points down and get the win.
So yeah, the boys are feeling good.

Few changes to the team this week as well, I
see on the lineups and any reasons for those or
more just giving it yourself the best chance for for
a big.

Our flank of Brace is coming off concussion, so he's
been our flank hat starting flank all. Yeah. He he's
been out for three weeks. He got kincuss last time
he played Huts, so he's passed all this protocol so
he just comes into starting lineup and then it's just
a shuffle on the bench really, so just one boy
Jordan misses out, which was tough, but yeah, that's footy.

You guys have been a very successful team in this
sort of current era of the Todi Rugby, but not
having your hands on the Jubilee Cup yet. Is it
something that you feel like the club and not just
you know, the current playing group, but you know the
wider club is really eager for, really keen for.

Yeah, definitely, Like I played one hundred and signity games
for the club and made the final once and we
didn't get it done. So yeah, we have been successful
with Swindale and all the wins during Swindale Shield. But yeah,
it's been twenty one year since to Tony's won the
Jubilee Cup. So it's really sort of the burning and
the boys and in the old Boys. I had some

coffees with Andy Lez and feel the older boys today
and they're really backing us. So yeah, it has been
successful there, only as good as your last game. So
we just want to get the win and then we
can be really celebrate the good year we've had together.

Absolutely, And I mean what kind of I guess do
you look back into those games with Hut from earlier
in the season, or do you sort of draw a
blank canvas, say, right, playoffs are here. Now, we're going
to prepare just like any other game. A little bit.

We I looked at the last game we played and
we gave away too many penalties and that you look
at those sort of things. But there we're two different teams,
sort of different players and different stuff on the line.
So you do look back and just take your lessons,
but then you've got to sort of just put a
line through it because it is finals footing and a
lot changes on the on the day. So yeah, a
bit of both looking back taking our learnings, but then

also looking forwards into what we know, had.

A big day for the club. I'm sure that we
have a bit of a support crew there in the grandstand.

Yes, yeah, I think I think the club's putting on
a couple of buses to go into toy Ru and
what lot. So yeah, it'll be it'll be a good day.
Well I think. So the supporters have to go out
early because the women play at eleven thirty and we're
at three, so it will be a long day for them.
But yeah, we've had good support all yeah, so can't wait.

Yeah, great, And I mean, as you said, you've been
around this club for it for a long time, many years.
And as you said, you know the two finals between
these same two teams. You're in the women's final as well.
That would suggest carn the clubs in a pretty good
place at the moment.

Yeah. Absolutely, the club is in a good place. And
we sort of all trained together us senior ones and
colts on Tuesday Tuesday night, which has really got the
culture going. And yeah, I think we've reaped the rewards
for that and boys are just happy to play wherever
they put and yeah, at the club is in the
great spot.

up to this week? For your motivation? The prospects of
going two titles within two years, for.

Sure, Bro, I think I'm definitely, I think driving factor
for our team this year. We spoke about it coming
into the season, but I think the way the last
month's gone and we've been able to win some big
games that give us as an opportunity to think it's
come pretty quick, so the boys are up for it.
I think there's been a bit of a calmness about
our week and the way we trained yesterday and on
Tuesday nights, so hopefully we can get the job done.

What was the psyche of coming into this whole rugby
years defeating champions? Was it acknowledged and has it been
a big part of what's driven you to look at
doing it again or did you try the reset button?
Approaching twenty twenty six, we.
Speaker 4 (06:18):
Had a pretty sim got the same coaching group as
last year and the makeup of our groups fairly similar.
We've got a Living Boys from last year's final playing
in the final and then we've got a liven New Boys,
so it was definitely I think at the start a
bit of a bit of pressure. I think we probably
felt the pressure coming into Swindale Shield with I guess
been favorites, probably double favorites coming into the year, and
we probably didn't start our season off as probably as

we had hoped.

And that's a few big games early on.
Speaker 4 (06:42):
But I think you were pretty lucky that we were
able to just find a rhythm at the beckend of
Swindale should and sort of start to play our best
rugby over the last month. So there's definitely a driving
factor for our team this year. And I think we
felt the pressure at the start, but I think you
know that we're here.

It's just about getting it right on the day.
Speaker 1 (06:58):
I mean you would see it as a million time question,
but how did you help make that turnaround happen? As
you said towards that latter end of the Swindelle Shield.
Speaker 2 (07:05):
I think pretty similar to last year.

Like I think we lost some pretty big games this year,
like a lot of big rivery.
Speaker 2 (07:09):
Games as well.
Speaker 4 (07:10):
We lost to Tawa Upper Hut and then we lost
to be Tony and Swim the children we paid them
for the mcbainshield. I think we just sort of took
the learnings from that. It's cliche as that is, like,
I think just took the learning from our losses, and
I guess saw the parts of our game that we
don't do so well in the parts that we needed
to get better and get right.

So I think we've really fine.
Speaker 4 (07:27):
Sheened our game at the right time, and I guess,
you know, hopefully we find seed enough to be able
to get the job done.

And he mentioned McBain's shield there. You know, as Tony
the team, are they the team you enjoy facing the most?
I mean, are they your biggest rivals?
Speaker 2 (07:42):
Yeah, for sure. I think definitely our biggest rival.

Whenever we play them, whether it's Mcbainshield or Jubilee Cup
or even if we're playing for the hard them, I
think it's always a big game against them, And yeah,
definitely one that we're up for. Definitely one you wouldn't
want to be on the losing side of. But yeah,
you know, it's a tough game against him. They've got
a really good team and a really good coaching group
as well, so you're hopefully there's a big crowd at
the end.

You guys have been credited with being able to utilize
some of your big ball carriers through the season to
get you to this point, the likes of being Toyo
Menopheli and others. What areas of the game though, do
you think you'll need to target today to give yourselves
the best chance.
Speaker 4 (08:17):
I think I think obviously, I think everyone probably knows
that we've got a big pack and there's all the
driving force in the heart of our team, and I
think for Potoni they're probably probably their backs are probably
there their strength. So I think if we can just
I guess one big moments part of the game, I
think classic final, there's not going to be many moments
that you're going to get opportunities that you're going to get,
So hope you when we get our chances, we can
(08:38):
ask them and you hopefully our big boys can give
us a platform for us backs to play. I think
we've got a pretty sharp back line as well, so
hopefully if your opportunities open up for us out wide
and hopefully we can just take our chances.

And not a bad halfback battle for you. Is it
yourself versus Cam Ferira?
