Speaker 1 (00:00):
Let's go to Club cricket look ahead to the weekend's action.
Matt Wilson now to Cricket Wellington joins us. Morning to you, Matt, morning,
Hello Adam.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
How are we? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (00:07):
Very good, thanks, good to catch up again. We obviously
miss chatting last weekend Matt. But we've had another rounds
now completed in the Premier Women's competition. So round nine
this weekend, is it?
Speaker 2 (00:17):
Yeah, that's right, very much in the heart of the
business ends now of the season and the weather're just
starting to call down a tad But yes, round nine today,
round eight last week, and it's very much looking like
a three horse race for the top two to make
that Joey Lamerson final. Patoni and Norse obviously still in
there with a shot as they've been the last couple
(00:39):
of years, but Johnsonville in the mix for a spot
as well. So good to see three teams competing and
fighting it out in these last few weeks. Last week
Collegians they are up against Patoni and Patoni got home
there by seven wickets over them. North City we're in
City Suburbs, North City with a fairly dominant eights wicket
win there and Johnson a Upper Heart. They played a
(01:01):
game at alex Moore than Johnsonville, winning by six wickets.
So those top three all picking up victories last week
to carry on the merry way. Round nine today and
it's for Tony against Upper Heart that one at Petny
Reck Number two City Suburbs there at home at Krori
Park against Johnsonville and Collegians are at home Anderson Park
(01:23):
against North City. So those top three all playing the
bottom three today, So who knows, might be an upset
to put a few cats amongst the pigeons today. But
another exciting round for the women.
Speaker 1 (01:36):
Yeah, great stuff, looking forward to some of those results.
All right, across to the men's and PS Cup, we've
had another rounds completed.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
Now, yeah, that's right, three rounds. Three rounds completed, so
two rounds to go, so I guess we've gone over
that halfway point. Things are starting to shape up. Obviously.
We did get an outright last week in Division one,
which was good to see. Second outright in Division one
for the season and that was Onsbo who as we
all know, have been really dominant this year. They won
(02:04):
the one day competition and they currently at the top
of the overall ladder, so in a really good position
to be in the past Cup final and to be
that top qualifier which also plays a part in that
final and what you need to do. So they got
an outright against Heut District last week, winning bisex wickets
there went down to the last five or six overs,
(02:24):
so a really tight finish and also getting over the
line there. Eastern Suburbs are up against Corori. That one
actually had a delay start on day one, so it
was always going to be tricky for either team to
get to get a result, so that one ended in
a draw. Carrory managed to get first innings there in
that one and Upper Hearts against Tiger that was the
cook Shield challenge, Upper Hearts first defense of it since
(02:48):
they took the shield off East earlier in the campaign,
and that one also finished in a draw, but Tiger
did managed to get the first innings lead and at
the points there but Upper Heart retaining the shield as tighter,
didn't manage to win that one out right, so there
was some good games there in round three onto round
four today and next week of course Upper Heart Bay
(03:09):
are defending the shield again. It's their last defense of
the Cooks Shield for this season at Barton Oval against Karori,
so they'll want to lock that away for the winter,
no doubt. Over the next two weekends. And they're also
win with a shot of the two day competition Hut
District there against Eastern Suburbs. That one's at heart wreck
number one and tighter. They have got Onslow at Fraser
Park and that'll be a really interesting one with both
(03:31):
those teams currently one and two on the overall ladder
and vying probably with each other to play in the
pess Cup Final as it stands, so that'll be really
interesting to see how that one plays out today and
next Saturday at Fraser Park.
Speaker 1 (03:44):
Yeah great, okay, And down the division the Hanslet Trophy.
How many outrights do we get there last week?
Speaker 2 (03:50):
Yeah, we've got another two outrights there in Division two,
so there have been quite a few more in Division
two this season. But again good to see that teams
are looking to attack the game and force those results
and get more points. So Vic JUNI they got a
last ball win against nine I and fantastic finished there.
From what I'm told, nine to I were one hundred
(04:10):
and fifty without loss going into the last hour with
fifteen I just to go and Vic's neared ten wickets
with the last on the last ball to get an
outright win by just four runs. Incredible game of cricket
and Vick will be happy that they got that to
keep them in the running for not only the two
day competition, but potentially the overall points are fairly tight
there in the haslet, so they would have been wrapped
(04:32):
to get that result. Tony they got another outright against
Why that one's fairly comfortable for them. They they won
by seven wickets at PA Tony Rex, so they stay
top of the overall and hazlet and they also are
top of the two day competition, jumping above Johnsonville who
couldn't quite get the job done against North City. They
(04:53):
declared with a mammoth total of three hundred and seventy
one bold North City out and forced the follow on,
but nor that he credit to them dug on day
two and managed to force the draw, with Johnsonville just
getting the first and thing so again tight in a
few very interesting games and the hazlet onto today Round
four North City against Winery. That one's at London Park,
(05:15):
Johnsonville against nine to I. That one's at Alex Moore Park,
and probably the big one in the division for the
next two weekends is at Patoni Rep. Patoni against Vicunity
first to the third, which could very much have permutations
on next season, so that one's definitely want to look
out for over the next two weeks between those two
teams wonderful.
Speaker 1 (05:34):
Suff Yeah, we'll plenty to play for for a lot
of those teams still, Matt, great to chat again. Good
to set up the weekend by looking at a lot
of exciting games, so we'll look forward to tracking those
results through the afternoon here on News Talks HEB and
we'll chat again next Saturday.
