Speaker 1 (00:00):
Another day of action in Premier club rugby is ahead
of us. Let's join Max Rodgers from the Wellington Rugby
Union for a preview.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Monit to Max, good Adam, how are you?

Speaker 1 (00:08):
I'm good mate. Well, there's four rounds to go of
the swin Dale Shield before the two groups of teams
are formed and the competition is split. Obviously, the table
still showing some interesting signs. Obviously Old Boys University well
out in front with a six point lead over Patoni
here in second place with Parta Mater plymout and Huddle
Boys Marist, Oriental Wrongattai, upperhut Rams and Marrison Pats still

(00:30):
in that top end at the moment. Max, let's start
off at the hut Wreck and Huddle Boys Marist have
Johnsaville today. What can we expect here?

Speaker 2 (00:37):
Yeah, fourth place Huddle Boys Marius taking on ninth place Johnsonville.
Both sides they went down last week and nail Biders
Huddle Boys Marius. They've slipped now to fourth and they're
now nine points back of first place, where they sat
for the first few weeks of the season. They'll look
to pull their way back up and hold on to
a top four position. Johnsonville They've now lost their last
three games in the final play of the game, which

(00:58):
would be pretty heart for them. They currently sit four
points outside of the top eight, so I'll need a
big win today to give them a good chance of
competing for the or competing for the Jubilee Cup in
a month's time.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
Yeah, brilliant, all right? What about Patoni hosting MSP. This
could be an interesting one at Patoni reck Yeah, for sure.

Speaker 2 (01:15):
This game being played for the Bill LB Memorial Trophy.
This is a rematch of last year's hard And Cup final,
which sees Patni hosting MSP. Paterni their six point shy
of first place and Marrison Pats, although Stems are in
touching distance of Patni in second place, both teams picking
up maximum points last weekend. We're in the Patoni game

(01:35):
left wing Belgium Tortung Law picking up a hat trick
and he's now scored ten tries in his last four games.
But I expect this game will be a really close
one today and a special mention today as well to
the logan Henry who plays one hundredth games for Patni.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
Wonderful congratulations to him. Another interesting game at nothing towards Maine,
third place, Paramas of Plymouthin host top of table OBU.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
Yeah partamusch Plymittin. They're continuing their steady rise up the table,
now sitting in third after their last minute win to Johnsonville.
Thanks for the first five Stam Clark slotting the match
winner from the corner and the howling one last week.
Very impressive kick. Boboys University currently sitting six points clear
at the top of the table. They won't want to
give those trailing teams a sniff this week and they'll

(02:20):
be out to hold on to that six point lead.
But a matchup with first verse third is always said
to be an exciting game.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
Yeah all right. In the Battle of the Eastern Suburbs,
Ponicke hosting Orienzl wrong Attigh.

Speaker 2 (02:33):
Yeah, eleventh place Pornikee hosting fifth place oriented A the tie.
This game being played for the Jimmy Gerbich Memorial Shield.
This game one of the highlight in the club trophies
across the region, so Pornikee's whole timer's day as well,
So a special day for the club. Pornikey that now
slipped down to eleventh of the table and they'll need
some results to go their way to bring them back

(02:54):
into that top eight where they sat for the majority
of the first half of the season. But results haven't
gone their way red and they found their cells near
the bottom, oriented on the tidy stuff at a shock
defeed last week to Tawa, but they will look to
put that behind them and should come out firing today
against the Street kids. They welcome back their start openside flankers,

(03:14):
your new Hollo Lula to give them their extra little
boosts in their four pack as well. And special mention
to Pornicker captain dj Tyl who plays his fiftieth game
today for Pornicke all Right.

Speaker 1 (03:24):
Battle of the Hayward's Supper Hut hosting North.

Speaker 2 (03:28):
Yes which place Upper Heart taking on twelfth place Northern United.
This game being played for the Terry Farrow Memorial Cup.
The Rams picked up a big win last weekend. He's
huddle boys Marason really hitting their stride now, so look
out for them in the coming weeks. North they sit
were just the one win still this season and we'll
look to spoil the party. One Upper Hot old timer's
day today and special mention to North captain Luca Rees

(03:51):
who runs out for his one hundredth games for North.

Speaker 1 (03:53):
Today brilliant A couple of centurions today across Club Rugley.
Good to hear, let's go to William Jones Park over
the hill and why there were Martha hosting Tawara and Max.
Pretty important to this game for both these sides, isn't it?

Speaker 2 (04:05):
Yeah? Very important for both these size this game being
played for the Chris Stirling Cup and Whinui Marta also
defending the Bill Bryant Challenge Cup, which is treated like
a ram fairly shield where it's defended by the holders
on in home games. Whyui and Marsa. They put Morse
away pretty comfortably last weekend, running in five tries to
pick up maximum competition points and keep them in the

(04:25):
hunt for that top eight position, and a win over
Tawa today could see them leap into that top eight
where they've been on the outside looking in for the
majority of the season so far. Tawa they upstairs oriented
on the TI last weekend in the game that most
would have probably expected to go the other way, but
they proved they can really compete with those top sides.

(04:45):
They will look to continue that momentum and potentially give
themselves a bit of breathing room in the top eight
if they can pick up a bigger one here today, all.

Speaker 1 (04:52):
Right, and then I guess this one could be close.
The two bottom place teams, Wellington hosting Avalon.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
Yeah. I couldn't predict which way this one is going
to go, but we've got the two teams both yet
to register a win facing off today. Yeah, hard to
say which way this will goes. Both teams have had
a couple of close games against some higher up opposition
this year, so the winner today will be the team
that's up for at a bit more today, I reckon, all.

Speaker 1 (05:16):
Right, all those games at two forty five this afternoon,
that Wellington all on the clash at ty Ty Park,
Max over in the Premier women's competitions. You want to
run us through today's games.

Speaker 2 (05:27):
Yeah, sure thing. We only got the two games today, Adam.
Unfortunately why all your Martyr's defaulted to Northern United. But
in the other game, the Tea Passi Memorial Trophy, we've
got third place oriented on the TI hosting first place.
Patni Ari's stuff. A little bit of an upset last
week from Norse, but they will look to turn that
around and hand the Ponies their first loss of the

(05:49):
year last week Ari's verse five Jane Brice hold fourteen
points with two tries and two conversions. And for Patni
Crop Lavinia Leia bagged yourself for hat trick. Special mention
to Lina Simu who plays her fiftieth game today for Worries.
And in the izzy Ford Cup, we've got Pornicky and Obu,
who currently sits second on the table taking on Avalon

(06:10):
who's sitting third. Pornicky and Obu host Avalon On the
on Pornick's old Timer's Day in a game to see
who hosts the semi final next week. After putting much,
Flumington put away both of these teams to advance straight
to the final, which is on the twenty second of June.
Last time these two teams met, Avalon scored in the
dying minutes to come from behind and steal a win

(06:30):
from the Pornicky Obu outfit. So expeak the close one
here today.

Speaker 1 (06:34):

the Wellington Rugby Union. Those are the premier men's and
women's fixtures across the city today around the wider region.
