Squibb's in New Zealand and he's already been spotted helping a chef in Remuera to fund her ambitions.

"I can't help it, I love hearing people's dreams, and so there's no holiday from helping people that need it. And so I have actually now helped four people in New Zealand with their dreams, which is pretty exciting."

Speaker 2 (00:17):
Simon Squibb is known for one simple question, What's your dream?
That's what he asks. He's a British entrepreneur who asks
people this when he meets them on the street, and
if he likes the answer they give, then he gives
them twenty five pounds to make their dreams come true.
He's got millions of followers on social media and we've
discovered he's in New Zealand because we spotted a video
on his install where he meets a chef in a rebby.

(00:38):
We're a cafe.

Speaker 3 (00:40):
I need to speak to the chef without you get
the chef. Yes, thank you so much.

Speaker 4 (00:44):
This pastor is the best past I've ever had in
my life.

Speaker 3 (00:47):
You are so talented. I have to ask you wats
your dream?

Speaker 4 (00:51):
I wants you have.

Speaker 3 (00:56):
I'd like to help you try and make it happen.

Speaker 2 (00:58):
Right, So we watched it. We got in touch with
Simon Squbb asked him, if you're in New Zealand, can
you come on the show. He said, yes, Simon, welcome.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
It's great to be here.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
Simon. Why are you in the country. Have you come
here with a view to handing out dollars?

Speaker 3 (01:10):
Yeah, kind of.

Speaker 4 (01:11):
I have family that live in Auckland, so primarily here
to visit the family.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
And so you're so you were actually here on a
family visit, but you're still doing your thing where you
hand out twenty five thousand.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
I can't help it.

Speaker 4 (01:25):
I love hearing people's dreams and so there's no holiday
from helping people that need it. And so yeah, I
have actually now helped four people in New Zealand with
their dreams, which is pretty exciting. And yeah, it's part
of my life. I don't have work life balance. I
just have life. So I like my work and I
like my life that I mix them together now.

Speaker 2 (01:46):
So I'm in the clip that we played just before,
is a chef who you were. You were eating pasta
in a place in Auckland. Loved the pastor so much
asked for the chef said to the chef, you want
to make her dream come true. She wants to buy
the restaurant that she works in, which is for sale.
Has she bought it? Because you haven't delivered that club yet.
Has she bought it?

Speaker 4 (02:07):
So the clip is out in a minute, and shall
I Shall I let.

Speaker 3 (02:12):
Everyone go watch it? Or shall I? Shall I break that?

Speaker 4 (02:14):
Man?

Speaker 2 (02:14):
But I can't wait. You've got to tell me.

Speaker 4 (02:18):
I don't want to ruin it for everyone, though they
might might like watching the whole story.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
Ah No, you've got to tell me.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
I've got to know, all right, all right.

Speaker 4 (02:28):
The short answer is that Pink Broccoley is alive in Auckland.

Speaker 3 (02:36):
It's now hers.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
This is what she wanted to call her a restaurant,
Pink Broccoli, And so she's exactly my can you, I mean,
you must be aware of how life changing that is.
Like there's a woman who just randomly cooks you a
pasta in someone else's cafe, You come and eat it.
Now she owns her own place. That's amazing.

Speaker 3 (02:59):
It's his fate though.

Speaker 4 (03:01):
So the backstory is I went there with my family
for breakfast. I'm staying nearby an Airbnb and I just
went there for a breakfast, totally random. And then, because
you know, in the clips, we can't show every detail
because it's too much, but she popped out and said, oh, hello,
I'm such a big fan of yours. I bought your book.
We just released the book in New Zealand. So she

(03:23):
bought the pook and she I love it and I
have a dream. I was like, oh, thank you so much.
And then the bell went off and she had to
go into the kitchen and start cooking again. And so
I was just talking and like, oh, this is amazing.

Speaker 3 (03:33):
There's a fan here. That's so sweet.

Speaker 4 (03:35):
And then we said, oh, why don't we pretend to
complain about the food, which is kind of the worst
thing you can do with a fan who's a chef,
You complain about their food, right, That sounds like the
worst thing you could do. But the food was amazing,
so it was the opposite to a complaint, as we
saw in the video. And so so then I basically
didn't actually hear her full dream. So I said, what's
your dream? She tells me it's to own her own

(03:56):
cafe one day called Pink Bocoy, and it just got
me the name just instantly. When I hear someone's thought
about it that much, I know it has to become
a reality. And then she told me that the cafe
that she's working in it's actually for sale, which again
it's just fate, and I'm like, well, why don't why
don't you buy it. She's like, well, I haven't got
any money. I can't buy it. And I'm like, we

(04:18):
have to fix this. You know, I'm visualizing in my
head this branding pink Broccoli. It has to happen. The
food's amazing, she's amazing. She just doesn't have any money
to kind of make the dream and reality, and so
I feel it's my obligation to help make it happen.
So I had to put the money up to buy
the cafe and see Pink Brockley coming on.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
Okay, So what do you do? What'sn't it for you?
Do you do? You take a steak in it?

Speaker 3 (04:43):
I take absolutely nothing. I don't. I do invest in businesses.

Speaker 4 (04:49):
It's one of the things I do is I invest
in businesses and I take equity stakes in businesses. So,
for example, I've invested in a business called Lovable, which
is actually a six billion US dollar company right now
that I invested in early. And you know, so I
do invest in businesses and take equity steaks, but that's
a tech company.

Speaker 3 (05:06):
It's very scalable.

Speaker 4 (05:07):
I don't want to take a dreamer's business. I'm not
a dragon on dragons then, or a shark on Sharks Tank.

Speaker 3 (05:13):
I just if I could help.

Speaker 4 (05:14):
Someone with a little bit of money, a little bit
of marketing, a little bit of love, a little bit
of support, a little bit of business knowledge.

Speaker 3 (05:20):
You know, in.

Speaker 4 (05:21):
Reality, it's not huge money. I've made a lot of
money in my life. I've been very lucky, and so
it's just giving back, you know. And I do it
because I enjoy it, and that's a selfish thing. I
really enjoy hearing people's dreams and then finding a way
to make it happen. But I also was fifteen once
and tried to start a business and didn't have any money,

(05:41):
didn't have any help, and it was so hard, and
so I vowed, when I make it in life, I'll
give back.

Speaker 3 (05:47):
And this is what this is. Really.

Speaker 4 (05:49):
It's just like helping that fifteen year old be if
you're talking to a psychiatrist, that's what they'd say, and
that's what it is really.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
So how do people you know, if somebody was like, jeez,
I just need to come across Simon Scrubs radar and
it will change my life, how did they do that?

Speaker 3 (06:03):
Well?

Speaker 4 (06:04):
First thing I would say is most of the time
people's dreams they can make happen.

Speaker 3 (06:08):
They stop making excuses.

Speaker 4 (06:10):
So you know, people do make a lot of excuses
they self sabotage themselves. So just check do you really
need Simon script because a lot of the time you don't,
And so I think that's important. I don't want people
to wait for, you know, a hero to come along
and save you.

Speaker 3 (06:25):
You have to save yourself. You have to take agency
over your life.

Speaker 4 (06:28):
So look, if you want, if you want to get
my attention, it's it's very simple. Follow your dream and
tell the world about it. At some point we'll cross paths.
I have set up a double of dreams in a
couple of locations around the world where you can go
press a button to pitch your dream, and then we
upload it and try and help people.

Speaker 3 (06:44):
You can go on a platform I built.

Speaker 4 (06:46):
It costs you absolutely nothing to use it called helpbank
dot com. You go there, you tell your dream and
there's three hundred thousand entrepreneurs on there ready to try
and help you for free. So yes, you can bump
into me in the street, or you know, I can
bump into you.

Speaker 3 (06:58):
That's another way.

Speaker 4 (06:59):
But I always tell people a lot of the reason
I do this is to not just help the person
in the video, but to help someone watching the video
realize how easy it actually is to make your own
dream and reality and stop making excuses.

Speaker 3 (07:11):
Just go for it.

Speaker 2 (07:11):
Brilliant, It is so nice to talk to you. Enjoy
you stay here, and yeah, thanks for making the time
for us.

Speaker 3 (07:17):
Not at all.

Speaker 4 (07:18):
Thank you for doing a story and giving a shout
out to to the amazing dreamer.

Speaker 3 (07:23):
Go there and eat. You will love the food.
