I was breeding More Dinner, More Dinner, Prelim's day at
Ashburton College, fun day of the year. Yeah, so they'll
all be rolling into the domain and a sea of colors.
That the dress up still a thing.

on the way home, I'm going to see some students
in their red. Was the red, green, yellow and blue?

Still yep. I was Greenhouse, Greenhouse alumni here. I remember
the ultimate breaking rights from the day and again I'm
not sure if this is still the case. But each
house got to set up their own where you sort
of common room, yes, at the Oval the other hub,
and it was always you know, a lot of coordination
into it. Who could get the best speaker system and
couches and barbecue. Yeah.

Yeah, the ice blocks were a thing, big time. Yeah.
I think the third ends used to roll in with
couches and things all on the back of yots and yeah,
I'm not sure if they still do that, but it was.
It was a pretty big deal. And it was always
nice going over after you'd won something, you know, you
got some points for your team, roll on over and
get all.

The half done. I mean, I never really experienced that
because I'm not a natural athlete, which might be a
stritch of the imagination. Unlike yourself. I was pretty good
because I was lanky. I stood a chance in the
you know, the long distance, like the fifteen hundred three thousand.

It's a bit of lunk capacity.

Yeah, yeah, I just leaned in the strings at the time.
But you know the shot put the javelin high hopeless. Oh.
I wasn't too bad at the high jump, but then
it was a real challenge, and it will be on
the daylight today when we're looking at you know, clear skies.
Once the cloud booms off and I have twenty seven,
you know, throwing yourself onto that mat, it's almost like
a sausage going onto a pan. It was all hot.

You'd be like, give me off.

Oh yeah, raft on too quick, thousand flying all around
on the man. I was off and on on the
high jump. I didn't experience that.

of water today, kids, because it is going to be.

And perhaps the ladies that tackled the summer challenge out
around the lakes on the weekend to thankful that it
wasn't today. I mean the weather was great, but it
certainly wasn't as hot on the weekend six of this
edition of this two hundred and thirty one Ladies gathering,
first time that we've held it here in mc Canterbury,
and I don't know if you saw. This's got some

Lots of potium finishes.

Yeah. So in the three hour team Get Juicy Swear, Shannon,
Judith and Georgia came in first place there two hours,
fifty three minutes, and then we also won the six
hour Beans and a pe Michelle, Penny and Nina, So
congrats to you.

Yeah, there's a few few party and finishers. Awesome to
have it here, really cool to have it here, and
I think it was a perfect weather, perfect weather conditions.
The names are quite funny, aren't though. That's a bit
of a thing, you know, a good name and then
when the prizes are done, all the names get called
out and it's a bit of a laugh.

Yeah yeah, yeah. What a stunning backdrop to hosted in
as well. It must be the season for adventure racing
because the Coast to Coast is also on this weekend.

They did. We did get stuck in one.

We were the dummies to go along and trial it
opened to.

Get stuck because I heard that the Mere Film major
got stuck because there wasn't enough water flowing down the thing,
so they had to actually flush them out.

Yeah, pretty much. So there's a few. Yeah, a few
eras when we went along. FLOSSI went down. She's all
of six and the size of an average six year
old and so not too heavy. And yeah, she took
a lot longer than I thought. And when she finally
came out, she said, Mum, I got stuck and she
had to get out and push PUSHI we tube and
then jumped in it. So yeah, my my my feedback

was maybe to have some smaller tubes for the smaller children,
but I think they've just gone, oh, well, we'll.

Just smaller tubes, more water. Well, apparently we've got it
sorted and it's reopening today for anyone who wants to.

Joins, the joins were looking a little bit Yeah, no, no,
they were hooting. There was a lot of injuries, but
it was something with the swelling of the plastic or
something something. So there is but it's a problem that
a lot of slides have.

on these Winter Olympics.

I'm watching them absolutely Yeah. Happy to see Zooey pick

And then we've got another Elis, Elis Robinson. We're gonna
find out more about the Super g after eight with
some games guru Chris Reeve. But she's tonight and if
she adds to the metal Telly, that equals what we've
done it in another game. So and then there's heaps

And then I cool watching something I haven't, to be honest,
watched a lot of before that. It's really cool and
it's cool to put it on the TV and have
the kids kids watching it as well, but more in
us around it.

I feel guilty because you know, we've got Mount Hat
right there. We should be a little more in tune
with winter sports than we are.

But I know I'm not, but this is why these
things exists as well, right, like to get exposure for
the sport, to actually get our athletes watched and celebrated.
And it's really cool.

spot and they Mid Canary locals feature at something like

Yes, yeah, he's a champ in that space. But that's
not a part of the Winter Olympics. I don't know why,

it one of the events within Winter Olympics. Yeah, it
should because he'd cover up and he is an absolute star.

Well of course he's been recognized with something far more

Sports Award recipient.

celebrate him and his achievements, which has always really wowed
the crowds of the sheer speed he goes down. So yep,
Mid Canary Sport and rec Awards are back. The nominals
have opened up. They've been opened up for a week.

This is the big, big time to get the athletes'
names in, not just athletes coaches. We've got our Community
Sport and Recreation Impact Wars.

Yeah I love that one.

Yeah, that one's a great one. The Rebilliards which is
another really cool one for the service to sport, and
then yeah, Youth Master's Team. Yeah, and then the overall
sports person. So all the categories we know and love
are back. And then the date is set for May ninth.

It's the Gala evening. What's the eligibility window here? What's
the time?
Speaker 2 (07:39):
Nums are open at the moment, and we're just going
to see what that pushes.

Yeah. Like for instance, you know for our sporting feature,
is that the year of twenty twenty five, like the
calendar year old.
Speaker 2 (07:48):
Yeah, so it goes from I think March and then
the year back. Yeah, so we capture in our summer sports,
our tennis and our rowing within that year.
