Good afternoon. I'm Wendy Petrie. This is your afternoon news
fix for Tuesday, the eleventh of August. The Prime Minister's
recent gaffes are believed to be driving leadership questions. Chris
Luxon has called an urgent caucus meeting tomorrow, saying the
speculation needs resolving. He last week apologized for telling business
people to be adult, then caught his MPs off guard

with an impromptu call to revisit. MMP senior political correspondent
Barry Soaper told Tyler Adams he expects MPs will back
down or call a vote.

He may in fact find out that they have the
numbers tonight, And if they do have the numbers, then
I would imagine, knowing Chris Luxm as I do, he
would probably do the honorable thing and resign. But if
they don't have the numbers, he'll steer them down again.

Probably National Deputy Leader Nikola Willis's told Newstalk said b
she retains a confidence in the Prime minister. Police Minister
Mark Mitchell also says he has one hundred percent confidence
in Luckson. Our coroner is warning about the risks of

Post mortem revealed a small drawing pin was stuck at
the back of the infant's nose and mouth. Coroner Ian
Talford says the family could have done nothing more once
he was choking, but he says that death is a
reminder small items can be fatal to young children and
families should remove them where possible.

Night is falling in Columbia as a death toll from
a seven point four magnitude earthquake climbs to at least
one hundred and thirty two Its struck over night in
the western province of Shokhl people are being dug out

Directed Ruapeerho District Council is trumpeting its progress on refilling

porterloos and tanker supply since Friday after an airlock a

flow through to taps. It's still on track to be
fully restored by five. The council's encouraging people to conserve
water in coming days to let normal pressure return. People
must boil water until testing confirms it's safe again.

Labour says small businesses are our economy's engine room as
it launches a new election policy in the Rotruer. It's
campaigning on a two million dollar annual fund to help
smaller businesses adopt AI tools. It but also go into
topping up an advisory group to help with AI use
and boost mentoring and support. Leader Chris Hipkins says they've
listened to companies.
