Good afternoon. I'm Malcolm Jordan and this is your midday
news fix for Friday, the third of October. Fear throughout
the UK's Jewish community after a man drove into people
outside a synagogue and attack them with a knife. Two
people are dead and four are injured in what police
have declared an active terrorism. The suspected attacker, a thirty

five year old British citizen of Syrian descent, was shot
dead by police. The BBC has spoken to people at
the scene. Everybody is worried. Everybody is scared. I we
shouldn't be scared to fill or believe in what we believe. Meanwhile,
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has ordered an increased police
presence around all synagogues. He says the attacker is a

vile individual that attack Jews because they are Jews and
attacked Britain because of our values. Donald Trump's new ceasefire
plan for Gaza seems unlikely to get full Hamas support.
The twenty point plan requires some mass to be disarmed
and have no future role in governing Gaza. The BBC
says it understands some of the hamas's political leadership and

KUTA are open to an agreement, but they don't have
control over the hostages held by the group. It's reporting
mediators have made contact with the head of Hamas's military
wing in Gaza, who's indicated he doesn't agree with the plan.
It says he thinks the plans are designed to finish Hamas,
whether the group accepts it or not, and he's determined
to fight on. Meanwhile, the Prime ministers reiterating do not

travel to Gaza message following Israel intercepting a flotilla set
to land in Gaza. Activists on the flotilla say they've
been detained as our Ministry of Foreign Affairs says the
safety of New Zealanders is paramount. Chris Luxon says there
