In this update, Fakatana District Council says it's prepared to
issue a state of emergency if required. It's already in
place in Northland ahead of Cyclon Vayanu, which is forecast
to hit the North Island this evening. Jessica swan Reid

Strong wind and heavy rain warnings are in place across
the North Island, with gusts of up to one hundred
