Speaker 1 (00:02):
Welcome to Radio Hodar Keys Off the Record podcast with
Greg Triven.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
Let's have a chat with Teen Jesus and the Gene Teasers.
Cure to Anna, good to be here.

Speaker 3 (00:14):
Thanks for having me.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
Did I get the band name right? Because it's it's
a bit of a.

Speaker 3 (00:18):
Jeen Jesus and the Gene Teasers. That's it.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
It's such a good name.

Speaker 3 (00:23):
Thank you.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
And so when you are on stage, is that a
thing to wear jeans? Is that a part of your look?

Speaker 3 (00:29):
No, I actually don't.

Speaker 4 (00:31):
I can't think of a single time that I've bought
jeans on stage.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
It's too hot. You can't wear jeans up there.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
Yeah, that's true. You're under the lights, you're jumping around
a lot. You did that in christ last night, you're
doing it around the rest of the country across the weekend.
How has the rest of twenty twenty six been for
you guys.

Speaker 3 (00:51):
It's been great so far. We've had a great time.

Speaker 4 (00:53):
We're just we've done the Australian like of the tour.
Obviously christ Church last night really good stuff.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
And so for people who haven't heard of you guys.

Speaker 4 (01:03):
Before, Okay, well I'm Anna, I'm the singer. Yeah, there's
Neith who's on drums, Scarlet on guitar, Jada on bass.

Speaker 3 (01:14):
I don't know what we sound like. You'll have to
listen to us, please, A bit of rock, bit of
you know, some heavier stuff in there. Yeah, I don't know.
You guys have to listen to us to find out.
I'm not going to.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
Tell you everything, Okay, all right, we'll do that in
a second. There's a song called Bathwater and you talk
about catching the train at two in the morning. I'm
sure where you guys are from in Australia that's probably
a common thing, but here in New Zealand we have
an average train service at best the big cities heaven,
but not always at two am. How is that song

(01:48):
going to relate to Kiwi audiences?

Speaker 3 (01:51):
Hey, look, maybe you could be in an uber on
the way home.

Speaker 4 (01:55):
Maybe you could a friend could be given you a lift.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
Doesn't it's just about the journey, right, And would.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
You consider adapting the song for a Kiwi audience and
maybe changing the lyrics a little bit?

Speaker 3 (02:10):
Yeah, two am on in an uber to get home?
All right?

Speaker 2 (02:16):
Well, well, let's let's check out the song that takes
us on a journey to wherever we happen to be
at two am.

Speaker 1 (02:23):
Radio Hodar Keys Off the Record podcast with.

Speaker 2 (02:26):
Greg Triven Kilder and thanks for bringing us at tune.

Speaker 3 (02:29):
Hey, thanks for having us, it's awesome.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
And taking us on a journey at two am.

Speaker 3 (02:35):
Hopefully you're not listening to this at to.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
A no, no, we're drivetime at the moment. Was that
inspired by a real life predicament that you or all
of the band were involved in.

Speaker 3 (02:46):
Well, Scarlett wrote that one.

Speaker 4 (02:48):
But I think it's more just of a general vibe
of being, you know, like out on the town and
reaching the point of being tired, wanting to go home,
and just like the journey to get there, and it
sort of just has that end.

Speaker 3 (03:04):
Of the night vibe about it, which is, yeah, it's good.

Speaker 2 (03:08):
Yeah, And so two A it's a normal finishing time
for you.

Speaker 4 (03:13):
Honestly, for me, I would love to be in bed
before ten.

Speaker 3 (03:18):
Yeah. I like to keep it pretty classy on days
that are not show days. But yeah, I am definitely
the one in the band that will leave a show immediately.

Speaker 4 (03:29):
And go straight to the hotel, have a cup of tea,
watch a movie and go to bed.

Speaker 3 (03:34):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
And meanwhile, the rest of the band is hanging out
with the fans and partying all night till Yeah.

Speaker 3 (03:40):
No, I get that, get that stuff done earlier on.

Speaker 4 (03:43):
And then I'm I'm you know, rest in recovery.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
Have you ever stayed up till the sunrise?

Speaker 4 (03:50):
I think there's plenty of times in my in my
good young life that stayed up.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
Until the morning.

Speaker 2 (03:59):
Have you ever in New Zealand?

Speaker 3 (04:02):
No, maybe I will, Maybe I will.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
So you're in Auckland tonight playing at the Tuning Fork
and you've got a darned and bank called Ivy opening
up for you.

Speaker 4 (04:12):
Honestly, we were just like sussing a lot of bands
out and they just look really cool and.

Speaker 3 (04:16):
Fit the vibe and we're really excited to see them.

Speaker 4 (04:20):
Neive and I were at the hotel gym before and
having a little listen of their stuff, so it sounds
really good and we're really excited to see them play.

Speaker 2 (04:30):
So at the gym, it's good workout music.

Speaker 4 (04:32):
I reckon, Yeah, well, I guess, I mean, I can
listen to anything at the gym, but.

Speaker 2 (04:37):
Yes, And then where are you going to be tomorrow night.

Speaker 3 (04:40):
In Wellington at San fran which is very exciting?

Speaker 2 (04:45):
Yeah, so upstairs bar Cubi Street. Wellington has got a
cool vibe in the city. Have you always been to
New Zealand before?

Speaker 3 (04:52):
No, this is the first time for me. I think
maybe a couple. I think Jada has been to New Zealand.

Speaker 4 (04:58):
I'm not sure if Neve well Scarlet have but I
definitely haven't.

Speaker 3 (05:02):
And I'm really stoked to be here.

Speaker 4 (05:05):
And we've heard really good things about Wellington, especially the music,
the nightlife.

Speaker 2 (05:10):
I'm very excited what you've blasted into. Christ you've been
here twenty four hours. What have been your first impressions
of al.

Speaker 3 (05:19):
Oh, it's great. I love it here.

Speaker 4 (05:21):
It's very peaceful, walking around is very calming.

Speaker 3 (05:26):
I think it's very beautiful as well. And we're expecting
the weather to be like really really really cold, but
it's lovely. Oh, it's great and show awesome, really good energy.

Speaker 2 (05:39):

Auckland and tomorrow and Wellington. If anyone listening wants to

I'm feeling pretty confident in the fact it will still
come up right.

Speaker 2 (06:12):
The algorithms work in your favor. Yes, brilliant. Well, congrats
on the band name. I love it. As soon as
I saw it, I thought, this is something I've got
to check out.

Speaker 4 (06:21):
Yeah, that's like the number one thing people say, like,
even if they're like not really fussed on our music,
they always remember the name.

Speaker 3 (06:29):
So that's that's stilling something I guess.

Speaker 2 (06:32):
Yeah, you can't wear it out. And then there's the
music as well. They're singing the guitars. That's what we're
all about at Hidaki. So nice one. Save travels and
