their second Test against England is evenly poised. After the
first day at the Oval. New Zealand went to stumps
are two ninety one for seven, Glenn Phillips unbeaten on
forty nine, Kyle Jamison with him on six. Daryl Mitchell,

Hills Golf Club in New York for the year's third
golf major, the US Open. Traditionally tough, it's expected to
be even tougher, with wins expected to peak quite heavy
on the first round. Ryan Fox, the New Zealander, gets
underway twenty five past five on Friday morning and he

joins us Now, Ryan, thanks for your time. What kind
of form do you think you're getting into for the
US Open?
Speaker 6 (02:46):
Yeah, Look, obviously last week was a was a nice
week in Canada being the mix again and had a
lot of good shots on on Sunday, you know, maybe
a slightly disappointing finish, but no, all on all, it
was a really good week. So coming into this week,
you know, feel pretty good about where things are. And
I think that's a good thing because Shinnecock doesn't let
(03:08):
up on you at all. And we look like we
go a pretty tough weather forecast this week with a
bunch of wind and a golf course that's not very
forgiving in the wind. So yeah, it's nice to be
coming in air feeling like I've got a little bit
of form.
Speaker 5 (03:22):
Did you feel like you were in the mix for
potentially going back to back at a point on that
Sunday afternoon, Yeah, a.
Speaker 6 (03:28):
Little bit, obviously, was I was still a little bit
behind Bud, and Bud was kind of going all right.
But I felt like when I birdied sixteen, you know,
if I could sneak, if I could sneak two more,
you know, finish birdie birdie, or finish with an eagle
on eighteen, things might have got interesting. And obviously I
didn't quite pan out that way, but it still would
(03:50):
and it still would have been one short. But I
haven't had those feelings this year yet, so it was
nice to kind of feel that way, And you know,
to be honest, no, I felt like that whole back nine.
I had a lot of really good shots and hit
one bad part on seventeen the first one left it short,
and then was kind of in between tubs on seventy
(04:10):
and eighteen and hit the exact shot I wanted to hit,
but just came up a few meters short and that
ended up in the water, And you know, Bogey was
an ideal but it didn't feel like I did a
whole lot wrong in that sense, so it was nice
to to hit good shots, you know, feeling those nerves
and that pressure coming down the stretch again. So hopefully
(04:31):
I can put myself in that position a few more
times this year. But yeah, it's it was a great
I still at the start of the week I would
have taken a tied for eighth in the defense. You know,
obviously there's a there's a bit more interest in everything
around being the defending champion. You're in the marquee groups
and press conferences and all of that, so you know,
(04:51):
it was a it was, all in all, a really
good week to sorry, all in all, a really good
week dealing with all of.
Speaker 5 (04:57):
That you mentioned. Obviously, you feel your games get at
a pretty good point to comparing it to to previous majors.
Do you feel like you get the sense that it
is coming together?
Speaker 2 (05:05):
Yeah, I do.
Speaker 6 (05:06):
You know, obviously, heading into AUGUSTA this year, I'd had
kidney stones a couple of weeks before and was trying
to find the golf game again and struggled a little
bit there. The PGA, you know, I played Teita Green
pretty solid and just really struggled on the greens, and
you know, the last couple of weeks have kind of
been that trend as well. Memorial I putted really well
(05:28):
and kind of struggled a little bit off the tea,
and then last week I managed to put pretty much
everything together. I think I had one slightly bad day
with a driver on Saturday, but the rest of the week,
you know, I had a lot of decent nine shots,
chipped and parted really nicely so and obviously had some
good scores going as well. So it was nice to
(05:49):
feel like I had everything working last week, and yeah,
I'm going to need to have everything working this week,
because yeah, Shinnecock is an absolute beast of a golf course.
Speaker 5 (05:58):
Is it the first time you've been at Shinnecock.
Speaker 6 (06:00):
No, I it was my first US Open was here
in twenty eighteen, which I will say was a shocked system.
I don't think I'd ever played a golf course this
hard before, and it was the year that Phil Micholson
had the moving ball. So I think the talk around
was they kind of lost the golf course a little
bit on that Saturday, and then Tommy Fleetwood went out
(06:22):
and shot sixty three and on Sunday and almost one,
So yeah, I think they're going to be a bit
safer in that respect.
Speaker 2 (06:29):
This year.
Speaker 6 (06:29):
We do have a bad weather forecast win wise. I
think Thursday's looking up to sixty kilometer in our gusts,
which is not very fine on a golf course like this,
So I think they're going to keep it soft and
slow for us in order to try to get us
around on Thursday and then potentially let it firm up
the rest of the week. But you know, they don't
really need to do much to this this golf course.
(06:52):
You know, everyone that's played here, all the members say
that they'd be ready to host the US Open the
next week if they had an opportunity. So it's it's
kind of set up very hard day in, day out,
and it's definitely going to be that for us this week.
Speaker 5 (07:08):
How do you brace for something like the wind that
is in the four cars. I've seen a lot of
the players already quoted about it and how those gusts
are going to be pretty hard to deal with. So
how do you personally sort of brace yourself for what's
coming at you.
Speaker 6 (07:21):
I think you've just got to be prepared to get
screwed over a few times. To be honest, there's got
to be some patience and some acceptance that you're going
to hit some good shots and they're not going to
end up in very good places. And you know, I
guess the good thing on a golf course like this,
you know it's going to be hard. Everyone's going to
be in the same boat. You know that pars and
(07:43):
bogies aren't probably going to be that bad out there.
Definitely pars aren't going to be bad, But even making
bogies are going to feel pretty good on a bunch
of holes if it's blowing that hard. So you know,
you don't have to do anything crazy. You don't have
to fire at flags, you don't have to be super
aggressive off the tee. You've just got to try to
get it and play, get it up near the green. Hope,
(08:03):
hope the short game works. I hope you can hold
a few putts. Probably the hardest thing that wind is
going to be the putting. You know, if it gets
up to that that strength, you know, balls will potentially
move around on the greens. It will affect how much
or how little a putt breaks, depending on which way
the wind's coming. From it obviously is going to affect
(08:24):
speed a little bit. So you know, if you're on
putting down down, wind down, hell, it's going to be
almost impossible to stop the ball. So yeah, there's going
to be some some interesting stuff go on, especially on Thursday,
but you've just got to kind of roll with the
punches and take it and see if you can get
away relatively unscathed. You know, even shooting three four five
(08:46):
over on that Thursday might not be a bad score.
And you know that's very different than what we play
most weeks, to be honest, this is.

Well, the thing for World Cup's been going for a
week now.

Everybody has played their first game, and it felt like
back end of the week was when the World Cup
rarely began. When the stars came out to play Wednesday
our time and France, the competition favorites in the hearts
and minds of many, took to the field against Senegal
and it was Killian Embarpe, their main man, who scored

two goals in their three to one win over Senegal.
Immediately following that, in the same group Norway back at
the World Cup for the first time since nineteen ninety eight,
beat Iraq four to one, and the inevitability of Earling
Harland being on the score sheet was well and truly fulfilled.
He got a brace as well, so two for embarpey
(09:45):
two for Harland, and then Lionel Messi said, hold my bear,
I'm going to go one better. A hat trick for
the man who turns thirty nine next week, his first
ever World Cup hat trick and drawing him level with
the all time leading goalscorer at a World Cup, German
Miroslav Closer. Sixteen goals for Closer, now sixteen for Messi.
(10:07):
Well you wouldn't bet against taking that record on his
own over the next little while, so in Barbe and
Harland and Messy. But then today Portugal take to the
field and Christiana Ronaldo, who's even older than Messi, at
the age of forty one and a bit, became the
oldest ever outfield player to start a match at a
(10:28):
fee for World Cup. Unfortunately for Ronaldo, he wasn't able
in any way to replicate the feats of Messi, or
of Harland or of Embarbe. In fact, twenty five touches
in the entire game, the fewest he's ever had in
a major tournament, in a game where he's played for
ninety minutes. It was only his first outing, but you

just get the feeling that Portugal and Ronaldo aren't as
happy a marriage as Argentina and MESSI. Of course, we're
early on in the piece, and a word two on
England Harry Kane, their main man, with a couple of
goals as they beat Croatia four to this morning. Is
it coming home? Could it possibly be coming home? Us
(11:10):
sixty years have hurt about to end. I don't know
the answer, but it's going to be fun finding out.

Into the chamber, we go, gee, great there from Ryan Fox.
Let's talk about some other kiwi's doing things overseas, in
particular our black Caps. How would you assess where they
are after the first day of the second Test at
the Oval?
Speaker 5 (11:34):
Not completely out of it, but I think they would
have wanted a bit more of a return to ninety
one for seven. I think you go, yep. We probably
left a few runs out there, probably a couple more
wickets than we probably would have liked. But if they
can add fifty or social the total when they get
in on day two, then it's not completely wrecked. We
(11:54):
saw a lot of players have starts, didn't we Piney,
you know, Tom Lathan was there for a bit but
couldn't quite get going. Henry Nichols the new number three
first drop for the black Caps in place of King Williamson.
What a job he's got on his shoulders now. He
looked like he was in then got out. It wasn't
until so the middle order came together with with Mitchell
and Phillips and Blunder where they showed a bit more resistance.
(12:15):
But again a couple of those players left earlier than
they would have liked.

So I go and go.

It's not a complete disaster, but it could have been
better and very much. I hate the phrase, but a
crucial first session awaits on day two at the Oval.
If they can get you know, in to three fifty
yesh with you know those three wickets that've got left
in the bank, then I don't think it's completely terminal.

What so you yeah, I feel exactly the same way,
particularly given the fact that England won the toss and
sent us in. So you know, I feel if you're
sent in and you can get three point fifty, then
you're probably reasonably satisfied. As you say, you look at
it and you say, if Ravendra or Mitchell, or Blundel
or Latham could have gone on or Nichols and turn
those twenties, thirties and forties into eighties, nineties, even a century,
(12:59):
Glenn Phillips is unbeaten there on forty nine at Stump.
So look, I mean, you never know. With Glen Phillip's.

Watching it again Sundays on, which was great. I love that.
Speaker 3 (13:08):
That was a real fashion statement, wasn't it. So look,
I feel the same way as you. I feel if
they can push on to three point fifty, then it's
not you know, it's not a catastrophic first and thing's
bonny stretch, especially constiad of what happened to Lords when
everybody was finding it very difficult to bat.
Speaker 5 (13:25):
That's right, and in the context of the series as well,
if they can get to three fifty, yesh batting first
after being sent in as they face a must win
scenario now to try and if they want to still
win the series, then I don't think it's completely bad,
but a lot's going to fall on the likes of
Matt Henry to get a few early and put some
pressure on when they do get the chance to bawl,
which you suspect would look all going to plan later

in the day would be preferable, but will probably be
some point late in the first.

I'm looking at this batting card here, and if you
told us a couple of months ago that in the
second Test at the Oval Henry Nichols would bat three
for New Zealand's it would seem very fanciful, wouldn't it.
But you have to say his domestic form has been
pretty good. He's probably earned it.
Speaker 5 (14:06):
Yeah, I think so.
Speaker 4 (14:07):
He played a couple it look like it a while for.
Speaker 5 (14:10):
Him to get going in that innings last night and
had an LBW shouts that they referred was struck down,
So that went his way early. Look at the shot
he got out to well, sorry not the shot he
got bold completely by Josh Tungu. But he didn't have
display a lot of footwork. But you're right, the weight
of runs, you know, made his form irresistible force selectors,
(14:31):
and when you're looking to put someone in at three,
I don't think there are too many better options. You know,
Will Young obviously came into camp, but you're replacing an
all time great of the game who added nine five
hundred and fifteen runs. Those decisions aren't easy, and I
think you go with the domestic hot hand in Henry Nichols.
Interesting to see whether he keeps that long term, whether
it's very much. Let's get these two tests out of

the way. That's a conversation for later, But I think
they went with the right option.

Yeah, I tend to agree. So second day underway tonight
New Zealand or resume at two ninety one for seven,

I was impressed by what they delivered in that game.
We've often seen England and Paul stages be quite cagey,
piney and perhaps you know, try and start at the
starting point of not losing a game and working backwards
from there. But even at too too. They came out
with Gusto after halftime and played some really really good
football and you know fort So against Croatian. Look perhaps
(15:28):
an age in Croatian, so you know, look at Modric
who was at fault for that that Penrody the Harry
Kane scored. You know, perhaps not what they were a
couple of cycles ago, this Croatian team, but they've still
got some quality players. But I was impressed by the
way that England priests. I thought there was a lot
to like about that performance. So obviously they've got to
get out of the groat first and foremost get into
(15:49):
the round of thirty two. But I thought it was
a performance with a lot to like. And you know,
I was surprised when Tukle left Cole Palmer at home
and Phil Foden among others. But he's been justified, I
think on the basis of that performance, which was Darra
say it better than I expected. What did you make
of it?
Speaker 4 (16:05):
Yeah, I thought they were good.
Speaker 3 (16:06):
Yeah, and Croatia at the start before the game, I
thought this game's got one all written all over it.
But I was really impressed with the attack, for the
attacking intents from both sides, but particularly from England. And
when you look at some of the other you know,
supposed favorites for the tournament, Portugal in the early game today,
you know, couldn't couldn't get anything other than a point
against the Democratic Republic of Congo. You know, Spain drawing
(16:30):
Milaw with with with Cape Verde. You know, these are
results that the Spanish football fans and Portuguese football fans
will be thinking. You know, why are we stalled a
little bit at the start line? England are up and
running and they shouldn't have any problems really with Gharana
and with Panama and their group. Harry Kines got a
couple of goals. It just feels as though the last
couple of days, Elliot, the World Cups arrived, Messi has arrived,
(16:52):
Harland has arrived, and Barbie's arrived, Kines arrived. Ronaldo hasn't
really arrived, but we can, I guess wait a little
bit for him because a bit older than the rest.

But the World Cup feels like it's kicked into life.
Speaker 5 (17:03):
Yeah, it felt like a little bit of waiting around.
Look good to have seen some some quality sides. But once
you get those superstars out on the the park like
we have over the last twenty four to forty eight hours,
it feels like, right, we're here to play now, and
obviously we get into the next couple of days, we
will have seen everyone out on the park and you
begin your round two games as of tomorrow morning. But
you're seeing those superstars right. The World Cup, as you say,

is fully underway now, and some of those stars have
announced their prisons. So I thought Harlem was exceptional in
a first World Cup game, went close to a hat
trick yesterday. Don't I have no I can go overly
deep in the tournament given that the rest of the
squad Bramby lack a bit of depth, but very promising
signs from them among others.

Yeah, when you've got a guy like Harlan and your team,
you feel like anything might be possible.

kidney stones a couple of weeks before and was trying
to find the golf game again and struggled a little
bit there. The PGA, you know, I played Teita Green
pretty solid and just really struggled on the greens, and
you know, the last couple of weeks have kind of
been that trend as well. Memorial I putted really well
(05:28):
and kind of struggled a little bit off the tea,
and then last week I managed to put pretty much
everything together. I think I had one slightly bad day
with a driver on Saturday, but the rest of the week,
you know, I had a lot of decent nine shots,
chipped and parted really nicely so and obviously had some
good scores going as well. So it was nice to
(05:49):
feel like I had everything working last week, and yeah,
I'm going to need to have everything working this week,
because yeah, Shinnecock is an absolute beast of a golf course.
Speaker 5 (05:58):
Is it the first time you've been at Shinnecock.
Speaker 6 (06:00):
No, I it was my first US Open was here
in twenty eighteen, which I will say was a shocked system.
I don't think I'd ever played a golf course this
hard before, and it was the year that Phil Micholson
had the moving ball. So I think the talk around
was they kind of lost the golf course a little
bit on that Saturday, and then Tommy Fleetwood went out
(06:22):
and shot sixty three and on Sunday and almost one,
So yeah, I think they're going to be a bit
safer in that respect.
Speaker 2 (06:29):
This year.
Speaker 6 (06:29):
We do have a bad weather forecast win wise. I
think Thursday's looking up to sixty kilometer in our gusts,
which is not very fine on a golf course like this,
So I think they're going to keep it soft and
slow for us in order to try to get us
around on Thursday and then potentially let it firm up
the rest of the week. But you know, they don't
really need to do much to this this golf course.
(06:52):
You know, everyone that's played here, all the members say
that they'd be ready to host the US Open the
next week if they had an opportunity. So it's it's
kind of set up very hard day in, day out,
and it's definitely going to be that for us this week.
Speaker 5 (07:08):
How do you brace for something like the wind that
is in the four cars. I've seen a lot of
the players already quoted about it and how those gusts
are going to be pretty hard to deal with. So
how do you personally sort of brace yourself for what's
coming at you.
Speaker 6 (07:21):
I think you've just got to be prepared to get
screwed over a few times. To be honest, there's got
to be some patience and some acceptance that you're going
to hit some good shots and they're not going to
end up in very good places. And you know, I
guess the good thing on a golf course like this,
you know it's going to be hard. Everyone's going to
be in the same boat. You know that pars and
(07:43):
bogies aren't probably going to be that bad out there.
Definitely pars aren't going to be bad, But even making
bogies are going to feel pretty good on a bunch
of holes if it's blowing that hard. So you know,
you don't have to do anything crazy. You don't have
to fire at flags, you don't have to be super
aggressive off the tee. You've just got to try to
get it and play, get it up near the green. Hope,
(08:03):
hope the short game works. I hope you can hold
a few putts. Probably the hardest thing that wind is
going to be the putting. You know, if it gets
up to that that strength, you know, balls will potentially
move around on the greens. It will affect how much
or how little a putt breaks, depending on which way
the wind's coming. From it obviously is going to affect
(08:24):
speed a little bit. So you know, if you're on
putting down down, wind down, hell, it's going to be
almost impossible to stop the ball. So yeah, there's going
to be some some interesting stuff go on, especially on Thursday,
but you've just got to kind of roll with the
punches and take it and see if you can get
away relatively unscathed. You know, even shooting three four five
(08:46):
over on that Thursday might not be a bad score.
And you know that's very different than what we play
most weeks, to be honest, this is.

Well, the thing for World Cup's been going for a
week now.

Everybody has played their first game, and it felt like
back end of the week was when the World Cup
rarely began. When the stars came out to play Wednesday
our time and France, the competition favorites in the hearts
and minds of many, took to the field against Senegal
and it was Killian Embarpe, their main man, who scored

two goals in their three to one win over Senegal.
Immediately following that, in the same group Norway back at
the World Cup for the first time since nineteen ninety eight,
beat Iraq four to one, and the inevitability of Earling
Harland being on the score sheet was well and truly fulfilled.
He got a brace as well, so two for embarpey
(09:45):
two for Harland, and then Lionel Messi said, hold my bear,
I'm going to go one better. A hat trick for
the man who turns thirty nine next week, his first
ever World Cup hat trick and drawing him level with
the all time leading goalscorer at a World Cup, German
Miroslav Closer. Sixteen goals for Closer, now sixteen for Messi.

Well you wouldn't bet against taking that record on his
own over the next little while, so in Barbe and
Harland and Messy. But then today Portugal take to the
field and Christiana Ronaldo, who's even older than Messi, at
the age of forty one and a bit, became the
oldest ever outfield player to start a match at a
(10:28):
fee for World Cup. Unfortunately for Ronaldo, he wasn't able
in any way to replicate the feats of Messi, or
of Harland or of Embarbe. In fact, twenty five touches
in the entire game, the fewest he's ever had in
a major tournament, in a game where he's played for
ninety minutes. It was only his first outing, but you
(10:49):
just get the feeling that Portugal and Ronaldo aren't as
happy a marriage as Argentina and MESSI. Of course, we're
early on in the piece, and a word two on
England Harry Kane, their main man, with a couple of
goals as they beat Croatia four to this morning. Is
it coming home? Could it possibly be coming home? Us
(11:10):
sixty years have hurt about to end. I don't know
the answer, but it's going to be fun finding out.
Speaker 2 (11:17):

Into the chamber, we go, gee, great there from Ryan Fox.
Let's talk about some other kiwi's doing things overseas, in
particular our black Caps. How would you assess where they
are after the first day of the second Test at
the Oval?
Speaker 5 (11:34):
Not completely out of it, but I think they would
have wanted a bit more of a return to ninety
one for seven. I think you go, yep. We probably
left a few runs out there, probably a couple more
wickets than we probably would have liked. But if they
can add fifty or social the total when they get
in on day two, then it's not completely wrecked. We
(11:54):
saw a lot of players have starts, didn't we Piney,
you know, Tom Lathan was there for a bit but
couldn't quite get going. Henry Nichols the new number three
first drop for the black Caps in place of King Williamson.
What a job he's got on his shoulders now. He
looked like he was in then got out. It wasn't
until so the middle order came together with with Mitchell
and Phillips and Blunder where they showed a bit more resistance.

But again a couple of those players left earlier than
they would have liked.
Speaker 4 (12:19):
So I go and go.
Speaker 5 (12:20):
It's not a complete disaster, but it could have been
better and very much. I hate the phrase, but a
crucial first session awaits on day two at the Oval.
If they can get you know, in to three fifty
yesh with you know those three wickets that've got left
in the bank, then I don't think it's completely terminal.
Speaker 3 (12:35):
What so you yeah, I feel exactly the same way,
particularly given the fact that England won the toss and
sent us in. So you know, I feel if you're
sent in and you can get three point fifty, then
you're probably reasonably satisfied. As you say, you look at
it and you say, if Ravendra or Mitchell, or Blundel
or Latham could have gone on or Nichols and turn
those twenties, thirties and forties into eighties, nineties, even a century,
(12:59):
Glenn Phillips is unbeaten there on forty nine at Stump.
So look, I mean, you never know. With Glen Phillip's.
Speaker 5 (13:04):
Watching it again Sundays on, which was great. I love that.
Speaker 3 (13:08):
That was a real fashion statement, wasn't it. So look,
I feel the same way as you. I feel if
they can push on to three point fifty, then it's
not you know, it's not a catastrophic first and thing's
bonny stretch, especially constiad of what happened to Lords when
everybody was finding it very difficult to bat.
Speaker 5 (13:25):
That's right, and in the context of the series as well,
if they can get to three fifty, yesh batting first
after being sent in as they face a must win
scenario now to try and if they want to still
win the series, then I don't think it's completely bad,
but a lot's going to fall on the likes of
Matt Henry to get a few early and put some
pressure on when they do get the chance to bawl,
which you suspect would look all going to plan later
(13:46):
in the day would be preferable, but will probably be
some point late in the first.

I'm looking at this batting card here, and if you
told us a couple of months ago that in the
second Test at the Oval Henry Nichols would bat three
for New Zealand's it would seem very fanciful, wouldn't it.
But you have to say his domestic form has been
pretty good. He's probably earned it.
Speaker 5 (14:06):
Yeah, I think so.
Speaker 4 (14:07):
He played a couple it look like it a while for.
Speaker 5 (14:10):
Him to get going in that innings last night and
had an LBW shouts that they referred was struck down,
So that went his way early. Look at the shot
he got out to well, sorry not the shot he
got bold completely by Josh Tungu. But he didn't have
display a lot of footwork. But you're right, the weight
of runs, you know, made his form irresistible force selectors,
(14:31):
and when you're looking to put someone in at three,
I don't think there are too many better options. You know,
Will Young obviously came into camp, but you're replacing an
all time great of the game who added nine five
hundred and fifteen runs. Those decisions aren't easy, and I
think you go with the domestic hot hand in Henry Nichols.
Interesting to see whether he keeps that long term, whether
it's very much. Let's get these two tests out of
(14:51):
the way. That's a conversation for later, But I think
they went with the right option.

Yeah, I tend to agree. So second day underway tonight

I was impressed by what they delivered in that game.
We've often seen England and Paul stages be quite cagey,
piney and perhaps you know, try and start at the
starting point of not losing a game and working backwards
from there. But even at too too. They came out
with Gusto after halftime and played some really really good
football and you know fort So against Croatian. Look perhaps
(15:28):
an age in Croatian, so you know, look at Modric
who was at fault for that that Penrody the Harry
Kane scored. You know, perhaps not what they were a
couple of cycles ago, this Croatian team, but they've still
got some quality players. But I was impressed by the
way that England priests. I thought there was a lot
to like about that performance. So obviously they've got to
get out of the groat first and foremost get into
(15:49):
the round of thirty two. But I thought it was
a performance with a lot to like. And you know,
I was surprised when Tukle left Cole Palmer at home
and Phil Foden among others. But he's been justified, I
think on the basis of that performance, which was Darra
say it better than I expected. What did you make
of it?
Speaker 4 (16:05):
Yeah, I thought they were good.
Speaker 3 (16:06):
Yeah, and Croatia at the start before the game, I
thought this game's got one all written all over it.
But I was really impressed with the attack, for the
attacking intents from both sides, but particularly from England. And
when you look at some of the other you know,
supposed favorites for the tournament, Portugal in the early game today,
you know, couldn't couldn't get anything other than a point
against the Democratic Republic of Congo. You know, Spain drawing
(16:30):
Milaw with with with Cape Verde. You know, these are
results that the Spanish football fans and Portuguese football fans
will be thinking. You know, why are we stalled a
little bit at the start line? England are up and
running and they shouldn't have any problems really with Gharana
and with Panama and their group. Harry Kines got a
couple of goals. It just feels as though the last
couple of days, Elliot, the World Cups arrived, Messi has arrived,
(16:52):
Harland has arrived, and Barbie's arrived, Kines arrived. Ronaldo hasn't
really arrived, but we can, I guess wait a little
bit for him because a bit older than the rest.
Speaker 4 (17:00):
But the World Cup feels like it's kicked into life.
Speaker 5 (17:03):
Yeah, it felt like a little bit of waiting around.
Look good to have seen some some quality sides. But once
you get those superstars out on the the park like
we have over the last twenty four to forty eight hours,
it feels like, right, we're here to play now, and
obviously we get into the next couple of days, we
will have seen everyone out on the park and you
begin your round two games as of tomorrow morning. But
you're seeing those superstars right. The World Cup, as you say,
(17:23):
is fully underway now, and some of those stars have
announced their prisons. So I thought Harlem was exceptional in
a first World Cup game, went close to a hat
trick yesterday. Don't I have no I can go overly
deep in the tournament given that the rest of the
squad Bramby lack a bit of depth, but very promising
signs from them among others.

Yeah, when you've got a guy like Harlan and your team,
you feel like anything might be possible.
