want to hear. How's your carcass, bro.

Yeah, no feeling blood good, I guess. Yeah, as you said,
it's been a long time coming, but it was nice
to get out there for the being this years and
get a bit of rush out and yeah, extremely excited
to put the whites back.
Speaker 2 (03:32):
On the last time you played Test cricket was what
about a year ago. Did you spend like the last
year looking back at that time and think, wow, that
was an age ago?
Speaker 5 (03:43):
Yeah, yeah it was.
Speaker 6 (03:44):
It was obviously very very slow in thement in the moment,
the rehab period, but but I look back and Zimbabwe
doesn't actually seem too long ago. So yeah, it was
disappointing obviously to miss out on the news in the summer,
but it's nice to be back now.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
Your patient's an absolute virtue frustration I expected during the time,
But we'll want tools. Have you used to get through
this rehabilitape period? What's worked for you?
Speaker 3 (04:10):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (04:11):
I think it's one of those ones.
Speaker 6 (04:12):
You've got so many people around you that have been
through the same stuff and I just rehab the same stuff.
So early on I went for a coffee with kJ
and just he sort of talked me through his experience
and obviously he had a pretty tough going sort of
back to back with back injuries, and this was sort
of my first time so having chats with those sorts
of guys and realizing that you know it as part
(04:32):
of the game, especially as a fast baller, you're probably
going to go down at some point, so weighing it
up and then just being patient with your rehab and
making sure you're taking all the right boxes.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
You've been indulging in a bit of pilates as well. Well,
I've been told so try anything I suppose to get
yourself through, get that core nice and strong recover.
Speaker 6 (04:52):
Well, yeah, did a bit of pilate's pretty early on.
It was pretty low level stuff. But yeah, just as
I was rehabbing the bar trying to get I guess
a few of the different core muscles going and activated.
So yeah, no, it was definitely stiff in the rehab.
Speaker 2 (05:06):
So you're great mates with kJ cult Jamison. That's well known.
But this is boy's own stuff, is it not, both
of you bean Pole quicks appearing at for New Zealand
at Lord's Like, this is crazy stuff. You must pinch
yourself knowing that the gravity of what's coming ahead for
you two blocks.
Speaker 5 (05:27):
Yeah exactly. I think you know.
Speaker 6 (05:28):
I actually haven't played too much crecic with kJ, probably
a few things for Canterbury, and I'm not even sure
if we've we've suit it up for New Zealand yet,
So you know, if we both get the knot in
a couple of days, it'll be it'll be very special
going out there with the big fire. And you know,
his record speaks for himself, and you know he was
obviously gutted to not be playing the Red Bull format
for the best part of two or three years, so

he's first and ready to go, and obviously I'm menching
to get out there as well, so it'll be a
special moment.

Well, the team's not sure at quick bowlers as it will.
You've got quite the quiver. I mean, you've got yourself,
You've got got Colt Jamison, obviously, you've got Smith floating around,
You've got folks and of course Matt Henry's back two.
What a selection fight it's.

Going to be, Yeah, exactly.

I think I think it's very exciting for for New
Zealand fast Bowling and our team as a whole, having
you know, most of our quirkes up and firing and fit.
You know, obviously Duff's stuff's not here with the birth
of his kid, but you know, add him to the
list we've got. We've got so many stocks of fast
bowlers and such healthy competition where it's just going to

make us get better. So yeah, no, it is definitely
a scrap to get your name read out and get
named in the team.

But it's exciting for for New Zealand cricular as a whole.

I'll give you that chap. As much as you love
Jacob Duffy and he loves being a black Cap, I
don't think he's going to miss time at the crease
with you blokes after all of that time and the
IPL for RCB. Spoke to him yesterday. He's keen to
get home. But what a few months for him IPL Champion?

Yeah, unbelievable. It's been an unbelievable year or so for
duff hasn't it. I mean, been waiting on the fringes
for so long and then gets his opportunity and takes
it with both hands and then goes and dominates. I

and his test stuff and especially T twenty cricket and
the IPL now it was awesome to watch. And you know,

he's one of my good made stuff, so it's been
pretty special to watch.

Tell us about the conditions over there. There's a lot
of enthusiasm here about a couple of super tall bounced
bowling seamers having a crack at the English in these conditions.

Yeah, hopefully it's a bit spicy, I guess.

Caj and I sort of got over to London a
little bit earlier than the rest of the boys and
been training on the patch out of the back and
that was a little bit a little bit brown and
a little bit slow with the heat wave that they've
been hit with. But a little bit more weather around
now and you know, hopefully as fast ballers as a
little bit of grass on the wicket and we can
go out there and attack it.

this any longer. Plainly, one of the greatest drivers to

ever grace the sport across a number of teams, and
of course a number of championships as well. Anacoma after
a skiing accident many many, many, many many years ago
shows no sign of recovery. But the herald stuff everybody
else have got this unhealthy fixation with what's happening with

Michael Shoemacher. The latest story around the rape accusations on
his property many years ago just carries on in the
same thread. In no way am I trying to dismiss
the allegations of the raper of a nurse caring for
Michael Schumacher by his son's friend. Rape is absolutely boring

and should not be shifted to one side. What I'm
saying is I'm tired of Michael Schumacher being used as clickbait.
I mean, I know what I do it. It's called
hits because people out there see of Michael Schumacher. Story
is still immensely popular, even years after stopping Formula one action,

and they want to see what's going on. Stop it.
Stop hitting on these stories, Stop engaging in these stories.
Stop giving newspapers and websites a reason to climb in
with more Michael Schumacher grim storytelling. It's not right. Let
the guy go. Let the guy fade away gracefully. Don't

keep reintroducing and re litigating the terrible and tragic story
of Michael Schumacher. It doesn't do him, or as teams
or as family any justice. So from me, as a
Formula one fan is a Michael Schumacher fan, As a
Ferrari fan, I implore you stop and stop right now.

of the date. It's all about cricket. The summer schedule
has come out with not really a great deal of
games in summer. There's a couple, right, what do you
make of it? First up? Because this is one of
the biggest seasons the black Caps have had in living memory.

I think it's a very good schedule. I enjoy an
all format tour, which the black Caps will have too
of not as much for the white fans, as I
have liked. But of course that's offset by the fact
that we have the first edition of the women's Champions
Trophy at the start of next year, so you do
have the sort of work around that, like we've seen
with the men's schedule over the last two years. But
I mean, you don't get any bigger than a tour
of India. This is what keeps the lights on for
(11:24):
New Zealand cricket.
Speaker 2 (11:25):
And I too of India. They're coming here. They two
this way?
Speaker 4 (11:29):
What did I say, two of India? Sorry Indian tour
from India semantics, I'm sorry, no, no, poor journalism. Yeah,
so I think that's great. India don't actually have a
good record here, like they've won series in Australia or
in England and South Africa.
Speaker 2 (11:44):
They don't like the ball moving round, that's why.
Speaker 4 (11:47):
No, But they don't mind it because you know they
look at the way they played in England last year.
You know they drew that series too, all in a
five game series. Yeah, so I think that's a really
good benchmark. Of course, having them in all formats, like
there is no greater incentive for any cricketer at international
level than performing against India because it does lead to
opportunities for down the track. So I think that is

a huge Yeah, we'll plan you or ever else scened
up going just aver else, not just ipl But you
look at how many sort of franchises these owners have
across the world. You know, you look at Trent Bolt
going from Mumbai Indians to Bombo Indians, New York to
Mumbai Indians, Cape Town to Mumbai Indians, Emirates, like there
are opportunities now all over the world.
Speaker 2 (12:27):
They're looking to get skin and what's happening in the
Big Bash as well, aren't they?
Speaker 4 (12:31):
Well, I mean that's that's sort of the way it's
going to go. You think the privatization will see Mumbo
Indians Melbourne.
Speaker 2 (12:36):
And if we ever get a T twenty league, they'll
probably be over here too a year and a half's time.
Speaker 4 (12:41):
From what I understand, the the Ambarni family who owned
Mumbo Indians aren't actually looking at our one. But I
mean that's a story for another day. Yeah, So on
the whole, I mean, there's a bit of a gripe
that not enough cricket in Auckland, but that's just me
being selfish. So otherwise, know when was.
Speaker 2 (12:55):
The last time we had a Test match in Auckland.
Speaker 4 (12:57):
Twenty eighteen from memory the day the pink ball Test
against England.
Speaker 2 (13:02):
There's ancient history, is that fear and right? Look, granted,
there's no place to play test cricket. I've watched plenty
of Test cricket at Eden Park and like Eden Park,
it's had a lot of great cricket. There ain't a
test venue by a country mile, although I've seen some
spectacular tests and watching a Test at Eden Park with
Indian fans wicked mate because they get off the same
(13:22):
of the Barmie Army.
Speaker 4 (13:23):
If you look what works around New Zealand for cricket,
it is those sort of smaller boutique venues like the
Hagley Oval, Basin Reserve, Bayoval now Seven Park. So if
you look at it that way, I'd argue Eden Park's
not a cricket ground full stop, never mind Test matches,
but we sort of shoehorn games there because of the
population base.
Speaker 2 (13:42):
Well, you've got Indian despera up here's plenty olden so
you think they try and make the most but maybe
some t twenties Monday Internationals' that's plenty.
Speaker 4 (13:50):
I think it's going to have to be, isn't it. Yeah?
Speaker 2 (13:53):
Yeah, can you see your time though, because I don't
know what's going down at columb Maiden Park. I think
they're doing some turf work to get things going. But
you wait for that, you'd be waiting a generation. Look.
Speaker 4 (14:05):
I was there when the column Maiden Park announcement was
made and the questions were put forward of is this
the signs that we're going to have a Test being
in Auckland. The intention from Auckland Crickets perspective is very
much that's what they'd like to push for. But these
things don't happen overnight. It's not easy to have a
test ground as we've seen. You know, look at when
Dunedin last hosted a Test match. It's even longer ago
(14:26):
than Auckland, and Dunedan's a great cricket base when you
think of you know, the players that come out of Otaga.
So it is just sort of a suck it up
now for our biggest city in hosting test matches.
Speaker 2 (14:37):
The rest of the inbound tours. We've got a couple
going on in what October I think, and then later
on in the piece the Sri Lankans are on the way.
What else we're looking forward. We're touring Australia plainly.
Speaker 4 (14:51):
Yeah, we tour Australia and then Sri Lanka come here
and then we go to Pakistan. So it's busy. Yeah.
We're playing cricket in New Zealand and January again, which
I'm happy about. We've not had any cricket here the
last couple of years because we had the Champions Trophy
in twenty five. We had the T twenty World Cup
this year, which meant the Black Caps for overseas, so
I'm glad that's been righted. No room for the NZ twenty.
(15:15):
That was a pretty big stumbling block, that tour of
Sri Lanka, which they I mean, they've settled it. They
can't move it, so we'll just wait another year then
so we'll get a rehashed Super Smash. But other than that,
I think it's pretty much.

Did you experience. I know you did because you live here.
Late autumn in Auckland, they need to schedule test patches.
Then the weather's gorgeous, you do it. The rest of
the time it's typhoon season.
Speaker 4 (15:38):
Well we're not having one now.

Well, no, but we're in winter now. More than anything else,
I going back to the White Ferns, They've got rather
a big tournament coming up themselves as well. It's like
the sign off tournament for the likes of Sophie Devine
and there to who and of course Susy Bates he
managed to pick herself up a gong. And just while
I've got you here talking cricket, how do we rate

that chances? Are they there or thereabouts? They're not going
to do Surely ten losses isn't a row right? Well?
Speaker 4 (16:09):
No, I mean there's not enough time for them to
lose ten games in a row now.
Speaker 2 (16:12):
Well, last time because they popped back and went one on.

Tournament it did. I think we talk so often about
the volatility of the T twenty format and I think
that twenty twenty four title that the White Fans won
encapsulates that better than anything. I think, player for player,
the White Fans can go toe to toe with anyone
on their day, but it's just about making sure that
they have their days more days than they don't. There

are very clearly some strong contenders in South Africa now,
and then you've got the Big three of India England
and Australia. But if the White fans can get there
back together, which they mean there's no reason why they shouldn't,
then you know the right result at the right time.
You only need one of those sort of big three
of Sophie Devine, Suzie Bates or Amelia cur to come

off and you can be in the semi final.

Yeah, just like that now, sound players, And why we're
still on cricket It says stay there over in England.
It's not that far away. We heard from well I

the idea of and I wrote this for the Herald
the other day, the first time we are going to
see Matt Henry, Cole Jamison and Willow rourke and the
same bowling attack. And then you throw Nathan Smith in
there as well, who sounds like he'll play as that
fourth quick But those three that should have any batting
unit terrified and I cannot wait for tomorrow night.

I hope we bowl first. Yeah, I think so too.
We don't know. We know what the weather's like in England.
My partner lives over there, so I'm almost getting updates currently.

Well, it has been hot. The reports from the black
Caps were that it's actually cooled down a bit, they were,
So they've called Mitchell Satna back into the squad, maybe
expecting to play two spinners with Glenn Phillips there as well.
But it sounds like they're going to go four prong
pace attack and then those two Phillips and Satin will
make up the sort of that number seven spot. But
we just don't know which one it's going to be yet.

And a word on arguably the greatest player of his
generation from New Zealand perspective, Cain Williamson will bow out
at Lords and this is as last series of chances
to maybe crack the legendary ten thousand runs.

Were not at Lord's. But he will play the next
couple of tests. Well, he's got a chance. He absolutely
blew it against Ireland. He had an opportunity to score
a pile of runs and really knocks that off. I
believe I said that came Williamson blew it with a bat.

I mean, look, we're all focusing on this mark of
ten thousand Tests runs. No one will get close after
Caane Williamson.

He's not enough tests.

has the ability to do it, but he's twenty six,
twenty seven, and he's not going to play enough tests.
The great worry for me is that there is no
one in the sport that cares less about Caine Williamson
getting ten thousand Tests runs than Caine Williamson. And you know,
we had him up in the summer and I asked
him about that and he said, you know, he's never

played this game for his own milestones. He's always wanted
to contribute to the team and if he doesn't feel
like he's doing that, he'll leave. If that means he
finishes on nine nine nine nine, then that's what he'll do.

Yeah, no feeling blood good, I guess. Yeah, as you said,
it's been a long time coming, but it was nice
to get out there for the being this years and
get a bit of rush out and yeah, extremely excited
to put the whites back.
Speaker 2 (03:32):
On the last time you played Test cricket was what
about a year ago. Did you spend like the last
year looking back at that time and think, wow, that
was an age ago?
Speaker 5 (03:43):
Yeah, yeah it was.
Speaker 6 (03:44):
It was obviously very very slow in thement in the moment,
the rehab period, but but I look back and Zimbabwe
doesn't actually seem too long ago. So yeah, it was
disappointing obviously to miss out on the news in the summer,
but it's nice to be back now.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
Your patient's an absolute virtue frustration I expected during the time,
But we'll want tools. Have you used to get through
this rehabilitape period? What's worked for you?
Speaker 3 (04:10):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (04:11):
I think it's one of those ones.
Speaker 6 (04:12):
You've got so many people around you that have been
through the same stuff and I just rehab the same stuff.
So early on I went for a coffee with kJ
and just he sort of talked me through his experience
and obviously he had a pretty tough going sort of
back to back with back injuries, and this was sort
of my first time so having chats with those sorts
of guys and realizing that you know it as part
(04:32):
of the game, especially as a fast baller, you're probably
going to go down at some point, so weighing it
up and then just being patient with your rehab and
making sure you're taking all the right boxes.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
You've been indulging in a bit of pilates as well. Well,
I've been told so try anything I suppose to get
yourself through, get that core nice and strong recover.
Speaker 6 (04:52):
Well, yeah, did a bit of pilate's pretty early on.
It was pretty low level stuff. But yeah, just as
I was rehabbing the bar trying to get I guess
a few of the different core muscles going and activated.
So yeah, no, it was definitely stiff in the rehab.
Speaker 2 (05:06):
So you're great mates with kJ cult Jamison. That's well known.
But this is boy's own stuff, is it not, both
of you bean Pole quicks appearing at for New Zealand
at Lord's Like, this is crazy stuff. You must pinch
yourself knowing that the gravity of what's coming ahead for
you two blocks.
Speaker 5 (05:27):
Yeah exactly. I think you know.
Speaker 6 (05:28):
I actually haven't played too much crecic with kJ, probably
a few things for Canterbury, and I'm not even sure
if we've we've suit it up for New Zealand yet,
So you know, if we both get the knot in
a couple of days, it'll be it'll be very special
going out there with the big fire. And you know,
his record speaks for himself, and you know he was
obviously gutted to not be playing the Red Bull format
for the best part of two or three years, so

he's first and ready to go, and obviously I'm menching
to get out there as well, so it'll be a
special moment.

Well, the team's not sure at quick bowlers as it will.
You've got quite the quiver. I mean, you've got yourself,
You've got got Colt Jamison, obviously, you've got Smith floating around,
You've got folks and of course Matt Henry's back two.

Going to be, Yeah, exactly.

I think I think it's very exciting for for New
Zealand fast Bowling and our team as a whole, having
you know, most of our quirkes up and firing and fit.
You know, obviously Duff's stuff's not here with the birth
of his kid, but you know, add him to the
list we've got. We've got so many stocks of fast
bowlers and such healthy competition where it's just going to

make us get better. So yeah, no, it is definitely
a scrap to get your name read out and get
named in the team.

But it's exciting for for New Zealand cricular as a whole.

I'll give you that chap. As much as you love
Jacob Duffy and he loves being a black Cap, I
don't think he's going to miss time at the crease
with you blokes after all of that time and the
IPL for RCB. Spoke to him yesterday. He's keen to
get home. But what a few months for him IPL Champion?

Yeah, unbelievable. It's been an unbelievable year or so for
duff hasn't it. I mean, been waiting on the fringes
for so long and then gets his opportunity and takes
it with both hands and then goes and dominates. I

the IPL now it was awesome to watch. And you know,

Caj and I sort of got over to London a
little bit earlier than the rest of the boys and
been training on the patch out of the back and

go out there and attack it.

saying is I'm tired of Michael Schumacher being used as clickbait.

I think it's a very good schedule. I enjoy an
all format tour, which the black Caps will have too
of not as much for the white fans, as I
have liked. But of course that's offset by the fact
that we have the first edition of the women's Champions

have the sort of work around that, like we've seen
with the men's schedule over the last two years. But
I mean, you don't get any bigger than a tour
of India. This is what keeps the lights on for

New Zealand cricket.

And I too of India. They're coming here. They two

What did I say, two of India? Sorry Indian tour
from India semantics, I'm sorry, no, no, poor journalism. Yeah,
so I think that's great. India don't actually have a
good record here, like they've won series in Australia or
in England and South Africa.

They don't like the ball moving round, that's why.

No, But they don't mind it because you know they
look at the way they played in England last year.
You know they drew that series too, all in a
five game series. Yeah, so I think that's a really
good benchmark. Of course, having them in all formats, like
there is no greater incentive for any cricketer at international
level than performing against India because it does lead to
opportunities for down the track. So I think that is

a huge Yeah, we'll plan you or ever else scened
up going just aver else, not just ipl But you
look at how many sort of franchises these owners have
across the world. You know, you look at Trent Bolt
going from Mumbai Indians to Bombo Indians, New York to
Mumbai Indians, Cape Town to Mumbai Indians, Emirates, like there
are opportunities now all over the world.
Speaker 2 (12:27):
They're looking to get skin and what's happening in the
Big Bash as well, aren't they?
Speaker 4 (12:31):
Well, I mean that's that's sort of the way it's
going to go. You think the privatization will see Mumbo
Indians Melbourne.
Speaker 2 (12:36):
And if we ever get a T twenty league, they'll
probably be over here too a year and a half's time.
Speaker 4 (12:41):
From what I understand, the the Ambarni family who owned
Mumbo Indians aren't actually looking at our one. But I
mean that's a story for another day. Yeah, So on
the whole, I mean, there's a bit of a gripe
that not enough cricket in Auckland, but that's just me
being selfish. So otherwise, know when was.

The last time we had a Test match in Auckland.

Twenty eighteen from memory the day the pink ball Test
against England.
Speaker 2 (13:02):
There's ancient history, is that fear and right? Look, granted,
there's no place to play test cricket. I've watched plenty
of Test cricket at Eden Park and like Eden Park,
it's had a lot of great cricket. There ain't a
test venue by a country mile, although I've seen some
spectacular tests and watching a Test at Eden Park with
Indian fans wicked mate because they get off the same

of the Barmie Army.
Speaker 4 (13:23):
If you look what works around New Zealand for cricket,
it is those sort of smaller boutique venues like the
Hagley Oval, Basin Reserve, Bayoval now Seven Park. So if
you look at it that way, I'd argue Eden Park's
not a cricket ground full stop, never mind Test matches,
but we sort of shoehorn games there because of the
population base.
Speaker 2 (13:42):
Well, you've got Indian despera up here's plenty olden so
you think they try and make the most but maybe
some t twenties Monday Internationals' that's plenty.
Speaker 4 (13:50):
I think it's going to have to be, isn't it. Yeah?
Speaker 2 (13:53):
Yeah, can you see your time though, because I don't
know what's going down at columb Maiden Park. I think
they're doing some turf work to get things going. But
you wait for that, you'd be waiting a generation. Look.
Speaker 4 (14:05):
I was there when the column Maiden Park announcement was
made and the questions were put forward of is this
the signs that we're going to have a Test being
in Auckland. The intention from Auckland Crickets perspective is very
much that's what they'd like to push for. But these
things don't happen overnight. It's not easy to have a
test ground as we've seen. You know, look at when
Dunedin last hosted a Test match. It's even longer ago
(14:26):
than Auckland, and Dunedan's a great cricket base when you
think of you know, the players that come out of Otaga.
So it is just sort of a suck it up
now for our biggest city in hosting test matches.
Speaker 2 (14:37):
The rest of the inbound tours. We've got a couple
going on in what October I think, and then later
on in the piece the Sri Lankans are on the way.
What else we're looking forward. We're touring Australia plainly.
Speaker 4 (14:51):
Yeah, we tour Australia and then Sri Lanka come here
and then we go to Pakistan. So it's busy. Yeah.
We're playing cricket in New Zealand and January again, which
I'm happy about. We've not had any cricket here the
last couple of years because we had the Champions Trophy
in twenty five. We had the T twenty World Cup
this year, which meant the Black Caps for overseas, so
I'm glad that's been righted. No room for the NZ twenty.
(15:15):
That was a pretty big stumbling block, that tour of
Sri Lanka, which they I mean, they've settled it. They
can't move it, so we'll just wait another year then
so we'll get a rehashed Super Smash. But other than that,
I think it's pretty much.
Speaker 2 (15:27):
Did you experience. I know you did because you live here.
Late autumn in Auckland, they need to schedule test patches.
Then the weather's gorgeous, you do it. The rest of
the time it's typhoon season.
Speaker 4 (15:38):
Well we're not having one now.

Well, no, but we're in winter now. More than anything else,
I going back to the White Ferns, They've got rather
a big tournament coming up themselves as well. It's like
the sign off tournament for the likes of Sophie Devine
and there to who and of course Susy Bates he
managed to pick herself up a gong. And just while
I've got you here talking cricket, how do we rate

that chances? Are they there or thereabouts? They're not going
to do Surely ten losses isn't a row right? Well?
Speaker 4 (16:09):
No, I mean there's not enough time for them to
lose ten games in a row now.
Speaker 2 (16:12):
Well, last time because they popped back and went one on.

Tournament it did. I think we talk so often about
the volatility of the T twenty format and I think
that twenty twenty four title that the White Fans won
encapsulates that better than anything. I think, player for player,
the White Fans can go toe to toe with anyone
on their day, but it's just about making sure that
they have their days more days than they don't. There
(16:35):
are very clearly some strong contenders in South Africa now,
and then you've got the Big three of India England
and Australia. But if the White fans can get there
back together, which they mean there's no reason why they shouldn't,
then you know the right result at the right time.
You only need one of those sort of big three
of Sophie Devine, Suzie Bates or Amelia cur to come

off and you can be in the semi final.

Yeah, just like that now, sound players, And why we're

It's not that far away. We heard from well I

No, Well, I mean they did play against them when
they were down here a couple of years ago. But
the idea of and I wrote this for the Herald
the other day, the first time we are going to
see Matt Henry, Cole Jamison and Willow rourke and the
same bowling attack. And then you throw Nathan Smith in
there as well, who sounds like he'll play as that
fourth quick But those three that should have any batting
unit terrified and I cannot wait for tomorrow night.

Well, it has been hot. The reports from the black
Caps were that it's actually cooled down a bit, they were,
So they've called Mitchell Satna back into the squad, maybe
expecting to play two spinners with Glenn Phillips there as well.
But it sounds like they're going to go four prong
pace attack and then those two Phillips and Satin will
make up the sort of that number seven spot. But
we just don't know which one it's going to be yet.

And a word on arguably the greatest player of his
generation from New Zealand perspective, Cain Williamson will bow out
at Lords and this is as last series of chances
to maybe crack the legendary ten thousand runs.

Were not at Lord's. But he will play the next
couple of tests. Well, he's got a chance. He absolutely
blew it against Ireland. He had an opportunity to score
a pile of runs and really knocks that off. I
believe I said that came Williamson blew it with a bat.

I mean, look, we're all focusing on this mark of
ten thousand Tests runs. No one will get close after
Caane Williamson.

He's not enough tests.

has the ability to do it, but he's twenty six,
twenty seven, and he's not going to play enough tests.
The great worry for me is that there is no
one in the sport that cares less about Caine Williamson
getting ten thousand Tests runs than Caine Williamson. And you know,
we had him up in the summer and I asked
him about that and he said, you know, he's never

played this game for his own milestones. He's always wanted
to contribute to the team and if he doesn't feel
like he's doing that, he'll leave. If that means he
finishes on nine nine nine nine, then that's what he'll do.

cricket when it does arrive, but of course plenty coming
