Speaker 1 (00:06):
You're listening to the All Sport Breakfast podcast with Darcy
Waldgrave from News Talk SEDB.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
The Warriors absolutely on fire. Someone's dowsing and gasoline and
chuck the match out and they are going. They battled
hard in the second half against the Dolphins that have
sold out Henry Stadium and have come from behind at
twenty eighteen victory. They travel across the Ditch today to
take on the Paramount of Eels in another very important clash.

(00:33):
Adam Pompey has made a return to the side following
a disciplinary standdown and he joins us now, Good morning, Adam.

Speaker 3 (00:42):
Good morning.

Speaker 2 (00:43):
I'm really looking forward to seeing you back in action again.
From what I know of you wires, you NRL players,
when you get sat down disciplinedly for a couple of weeks,
you come back making quite a racket, don't you. You
be pretty fizzed right now.

Speaker 3 (00:59):
Yeah, it's good to be back there. It's been a
long two weeks, but yeah, just excited to get I'm
running in my legs, so yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
What have you been pre private? How have you been
preparing this week? What has the coach been trying to
infuse in you guys for this week about this this
Paramatta team that you're taking on, who aren't like sitting
the house on fire right now, but every and our
old team is a threat. So what particularly have you
talked about with Webi.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
Yeah, I think leading up for this week, we you know,
spoke about our discipline, especially on the weekend. But you know,
these these areas that we need to improve on, just
to you know, go out there, play out in game. Obviously,
get our cycle on, which is our unbristle, and just
play an old game really and yeah, he didn't really
say too much about it, but you know, just go

(01:49):
out there just you know, perform well and then you know,
get ready for the buy.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
So yeah, and yourself, plainly, two weeks of doing not
a great deal. You will keep yourself fit, plainly. But
what do you think you need to establish after a
couple of weeks out?

Speaker 3 (02:04):
Yeah, probably for myself just you know, coming back into
the team, just to bring my my values to the team,
whether that's no carries or no good defensive reads. And
I look, yeah, seeing the boys play a couple of
weeks and you know they just bring that energy and
their willingness to defend, and yeah, just keen to go

(02:27):
out there and you know, obviously okay, well, and you
know I looked on at these last couple of weeks
just you know, boys are really performing now, so you
just got to back it up. I guess.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
Yeah, you're a good watcher of the game because last week,
what an explosive crowd that was, and you just about
blew the whole night for everybody out there. How did
you cope with that? Well, eventually got the win, but
the game itself.

Speaker 3 (02:53):
Yeah, yeah, watching last week's game, we knew that Dolphins
were going to come out firing, and you know, the
Boys really matched that. But we know, we spoke about
it in a halftime where we just got to you know,
keep keep about discipline right on spot, but just go
out there, get in our arm wrestle and and I
thought the boys, you know, turned up really well and

(03:15):
executed a few things, especially in that last winning and
you know, we came up with the two points, and
you know, I'm just, yeah, it's pretty stoked.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
That's the main thing. You got the points and you
move on, drop it to one side and get busy.
What do the Eels bring? What threats they do you think, Adam?

Speaker 3 (03:33):
I think they got a lot of speed on the outside,
and they have a lot of big boys in the middle,
and we just got to match their their game, but
also trying not to you know, get into their game.
So we just got to play our own game. That's
you know, the gritty grittiness and in our game. So yeah,

(03:54):
I think they bring a lot of you know, speed
on the edges and I'm back in ours to you know,
the find well and they come up with some big
spot reads and yeah, makes our mirrors out of them.
So yeah, you've.

Speaker 2 (04:09):
Got to feel, don't you for Ali Tawer. I mean
you're in, but you got to feel for him, for
handsome but Mitch Barnett as well. Man, he can't buy
a treck canny, the poor bugger.

Speaker 3 (04:19):
Yeah, Paul buggers, you know obviously, Yeah, got into twice
with his hand and then no hi. So yeah, I
think he's working hard to get back and.

Speaker 2 (04:30):
Yeah, and it's good you've got a couple of blocks
back yourself. Also, Luke Metcarf appears again, giving headaches to
the selection policy. Nice to see Tanner. That's ours Smith
evolving of course to Mighty Martin's back in there as well,
so that that energy even though maybe not on the
park is going to give you guys a huge, huge lift,

(04:50):
isn't it.

Speaker 3 (04:51):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I think for those dues just trying
to you know where hard and trying to get their
spot or whatever. But yeah, I think they just bring
a lot of excitement to the team. They getting their
self prepared and I'm looking forward to for them to
go well.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
And as far as the game being played, you're basically
getting off the plane and then going straight to the park,
aren't you then then out again? Is that the ideal
way to move into a match over the Tasman You've
experienced flying over the ditch and playing on numerous occasions.
Is this the best way to do it?

Speaker 3 (05:26):
I think yeah, I think you like, we prep prepped
really well over here and then go go across and no,
try get ourselves ready for the game, and yeah, I
think just yeah, worrying about our game is gonna you know,
work you up against a really good team.

Speaker 2 (05:46):
Yeah, we're looking forward to it. You guys having a
hell a hell of season so far. It's hope it
can that carry on and your reintroduction gives more strength
to the arm of the Warriors back line. Good on
your Adam Pumpy, thanks for yours BRT.

Speaker 3 (05:59):
Thank you, thank you for having me.
