Speaker 1 (00:06):
You're listening to the All Sport Breakfast podcast with Darcy
Waldgrave from News Talk SEDB.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
First and foremost, let's get to our guest because it's
late at night, early in the morning in Sri Lanka.
His name is Autchin Ravendra out of the Black Caps.
Good morning, good evening to you, Rudgeon.
Speaker 3 (00:24):
Good morning, Darcy. How are you.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
I'm very good, probably better than you guys are at
the moment. That was a devastating loss. You were looking
quids in to get that sort of out. And then
Glenn Phillips, he's expect he's still in quite a filthy
mood after that. Over that conceded twenty two and seat
on the way down hill. What's the feeling like.
Speaker 3 (00:44):
Yeah, obviously disappointing when you lose a game like that
that you thought you were ahead. But I mean that's
it's cracket. That's a very cruel game. And we'll get
around GP. And he's obviously an incredible player for us
and in all three facets. So look at it is. It
is and it's not just that over right, it's a
it's a a two hundred and forty ball game. So
things happen over over a period of time. So yeah,
(01:07):
there's what it.
Speaker 2 (01:07):
Was, mad old deck to play on. I got up
stupid early before I came into work to watch it. Unfortunately,
the first thing I saw was three wickets going down.
No good, but really hard to get established on to
carry on on? Was it that packy out there?
Speaker 3 (01:22):
Right?
Speaker 1 (01:24):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (01:24):
I mean it's pretty slow and was turning quite a bit,
so it was definitely hard to get a bit of
a rhythm. I mean, playing in Colombo and Sri Lanka
you sort of expect that. And obviously our game against
Sri Lanka we knew what to expect and it was
on the same wicket. So yeah, I mean it's different
and it's certainly challenging trying to adapt to all these
different conditions. You know, we play a bunch of games
(01:45):
Indiana and we come to Sri Lanka. But that's something
we put ourselves on as a team and as a group.
But wasn't just quite enough today?
Speaker 2 (01:52):
You didn't manage to set the scoreboard on fire. What
eleven off thirteen? But you did pretty good with the ball?
What three for nineteen off you four? What do you
put that down to?
Speaker 3 (02:04):
Yeah, I mean probably condition. I think it's I mean
it's obviously nice to be able to contribute about all
ball and whatever capacity. And that's the that's the cool
thing about being an all rounder. If you don't have
such an amazing day for a bat, you can hopefully
make a mark with the ball. And I guess it's
just just the way the cookie crumble. I guess got
to bosom overs and got you know, Santa trust me
(02:27):
and that's the cool thing. And being able to work
with him and having him extra covers a huge help
for me.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
Pretty relaxed character, and that's an understatement. When it comes
to your captain, the Saint Mclaus, you very rarely see
him either celebrating or panicking. I tell you when when
Harry Brook went the catch by Phillips, I would have
expected a bit more celebration. Mate, it was like, you
know nothing, you just watched it go.
Speaker 3 (02:54):
Yeah, that's the way it is that I don't know,
like there's different characters on the teammate, Like you know,
when you see GP take a log, he's visiting. But
that's that's cool. That's that's what makes a team. Right.
You've got eleven different blokes.
Speaker 2 (03:05):
Eleven v very different blokes. So now you sit and wait,
have you done the mastike? Do you know what has
to happen in order for you to qualify?
Speaker 3 (03:12):
Yeah, I think we just sit and wait. But I
think I don't know if it's a hundred percent correct,
but it's sort of around six. So Pakstan have to
win if they bat first by sixty or sixty five runs,
if they're chasing their your door in fourteen others or
thirteen or fourteen overs. So we're still like a very
very good chance, which is great. It was nice to
get a good win, big win over street Anker. So
(03:35):
we just wait and see. And I certainly be watching
tomorrow's game with a lot of interest.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
Now. And do you guys all get together as a
team as a unit is one? Do you go to
the ground and watch it? Do you hide in your hotel?
What's what's the deal there?
Speaker 3 (03:46):
Are We'll probably just hide. Definitely hid in the hotel.
I think we've we've watched enough cricket in our lifetimes
at stadiums and played enough best but we don't want
to be around one. But now we'll definitely probably at
some point hang around each other. And I mean to
be fair, some guys might watch it. Some guys won't,
but I've certainly enjoy watching a bit of cricket, so
I'll be tuning.
Speaker 2 (04:05):
Turning absolute cricket tragics for a lot of you. And apparently,
according to this text to Craig, it was my fault.
We're going all right in the cricket. Then I turned
it on. We lost three wickets, so I apologize to
all of the team. One last thing for you. Do
you mind if I call you ravishing, reck revenger or
is that kind of insulting?
Speaker 3 (04:24):
No, that's so completely fine. That's the acc boys.
Speaker 1 (04:26):
They love it.
Speaker 2 (04:27):
Yeah, absolutely, I'm with them one hundred percent. They get it.
They understand that sport's far too important to be taken seriously.
Rational revenger, ravashing rec Thanks so much for your time.
Now you better go and get some kip and enjoy
the room service and watching the game. I think you
guys are going to be fine, but it is T
twenty cricket. You just never can tell. Thanks buddy, exactly,
It's just Darcy.
Speaker 3 (04:45):
Thanks mate.
