Tim Seifert: Black Cap unpacks their loss to India in the second T20 match

The Black Caps bowlers have copped a hammering on route to a thumping seven-wicket win loss in the second T20 cricket international against India. 

The boundary was consistently peppered and cleared as the hosts cruised to a target of 209 with almost five overs to spare. 

Mitch Santner top scored for the Black Caps with a solid knock 47 off 27, while Ish Sodhi was the pick of the bowlers 34/1 off 3 overs. 

Tim Seifert played in the match today and joined D'Arcy to break it down.

I think over here batting sickond does make a huge difference.
You know, there's quite a big jew factor over here,
which which makes the wicked a lot flatter and easier. Too.

Doesn't mean you're going to win the game necessarily if
you if you win the tops and decided to bowl,
but the only favor favors you. And look, I thought,
you know, two hundred on the board was probably about par.
But yeah, you gotta take their hats off as well.
A couple of there guys battered outstanding as well.

What did you about your contribution because of a pretty
quick fire I think you ran about two hundred, didn't
you out there satisfied enough? Or there's still a bit
of nagging about could have done more?

Speaker 3 (01:19):
Yeah, definitely could have done more. I mean you look,
you look at our innings. You know, we all got starts,
but none of us really kicked on. He rutch and
got forty odd. He played very well, but the rest
of us, you know, yeah, we got starts. And if
you look at their innings, I think they had two
guys that got eighty or one of them got late

late sementies and then the other one got eighty. So
to get those big scores, and you need to top
all the batters to kick on and get those eighty
plus scores, and yeah, we just couldn't quite do that tonight.

Yeah, it's a matter of acceleration. Good to see the
sant and the clause Chalky old skipper match all though
are not out. He kind of grabbed hold of it
towards the end. Was that just the changing conditions, do
you think?

Speaker 3 (02:06):
Yeah, look, he's been playing very well over the last
kind of year batting. I think that's like the conditions
were still good from our point of view batting, but yeah,
just yeah, that just changed kind of dramatically that second things.
And yeah, sentaeners centers can smack head at that bottom there,

(02:27):
and it kind of got us to that passol.

When you look though, at the nature of the New
Zealand batting lineup you included, and you'd like to think
once Finn Allen gets over there as well at a
little more. There's some out and out aggression in that site.
You must be happy with the players that you've got
at hand leading into the World Cup, because let's face it, Tim,

even if you lose this five zip, no one's going
to remember the result of this series once the World
Cup starts. Is that an attitude that's correct? Or am
I completely wrong? Mate?

Oh? Yeah, some way.

Speaker 3 (03:05):
But you know, we want to win every game, and
you know, at the moment we're here playing the series,
obviously a great build up to to the World Cup,
but you know that that's obviously after the series. So yeah,
we still want to do well and win the when
this series. Hopefully we can finish finish well in the
last three games. But also, as you mentioned, you know

(03:27):
we we've got Fan Allen and Jim Nisham coming to
the side, which are two great players to add into
our lineup. And yeah, I think from a from a
World Cup point of view, I think we've got a
very exciting squad and yeah, hopefully this is this is
our year T twenty. Sometimes a funny game. It only

(03:50):
takes one person to take the game away from you.
But I think on the whole year, we have an
exciting squad this.

Year, Tim, So I think you can't curse yourself by
saying this is our year. That's what the Warriors say
every works.
