This week on The Big League Podcast, What on Earth
does Andrew ReBs to do with the harves combination? After
a stellar performance from to Marty Martin and Chanelle Harris
de Vita and Sean Johnson back next week, mcberley's off
the interchange for Michael Burgess to analyze their hiding of
the Cowboys and rate their chances of upsetting the Storm

(00:44):
at Mount Smart this weekend. My name is Nathan Limb.
Let's go b LB. The Warriors are faced with what
I'm calling the greatest selection headache in their history. Tomighty
Martin and Chanelle Harris Tavita tour that defensively deficient Cowboys
side to shreds in Townsville. Martin running the cutter, using

(01:04):
his strengths four triassists, three line break assists, his kicking
improving once again. A third straight win can be directly
correlated with another Martin masterpiece. But with Sean Johnson returning
this weekend against the Storm, what does Andrew Webster do
for mine. Regardless of how well Martin's performed. Johnson has

(01:25):
to go back into heartback and Martin to stand off.
But you change their roles. Instead of Johnson popping up
on the left side all the time to do the kicking,
take the workload off, allow Martin to run it his way.
It makes the Warrior's attack less predictable and means Johnson's
less likely to get injured. Chanelle Harris Tavita goes to
the interchange, is the reserve dummy half and Halve's option

(01:48):
alongside Dylan Walker, Maratai Acordia and either Tom Ale or
Bunti rfour Bick Beauley News Talk set b's voice of
sport in christ Church. Am I on the money, Tell
me I'm on the money.

Speaker 4 (01:59):
Great to be here, Nathan and filling in for the
big shoes of Michael Burgess.

Speaker 5 (02:04):
Look, the Warriors were fantastic, weren't they.

Speaker 4 (02:05):
A few numbers back after they're all back to the
war winds over Penrith and the Dolphins first time they
put on forty points all season and those numbers coming
back the likes of Fanua Blake and Cokirk cape Pelto,
who Harris didn't really miss a beat. So it's a
great headache, isn't it for Andrew Webster to have Sean

(02:25):
Johnson just had you know, one of his best seasons
ever last year and is still for mine, the best
half back at the club. But we've now seen how
good Tomri Martin can be in that role as well.
And for mine, it's pretty evident from here that if
Sewn Johnson isn't fit, he most certainly is the second
best halfback option. But it is an intriguing one. With

(02:48):
no Luke Metcalf of course, still into the latter point
of the year, who fills in at five eighth for mine?
I feel like they'll default back to Martin at six,
Johnson at seven.

Speaker 5 (03:02):
Interesting.

Speaker 4 (03:02):
I've gone real deep into the stats around this, Nathan,
so just allow me if you may, just for it
for a little bit, thank you. Martin and Johnson have
combined eleven times in the halves at the Warriors through
last season. In this season a four win, one draw,
six loss records and not two flash. In that time,
Sean has had five tries, eleven assists and around five

(03:25):
hundred and thirty kick meters a game, so pretty much
all the kicking and one point four try involvements a game.
Martin conversely, three assists, a try and sixty seven kick meters,
so point three to six of a try involvement a game.
This is after he's coming off seven assists and a
try in his last three games. We're wearing the seven jersey,

(03:48):
So that just goes to show how dominant a half
Sean is. So for mine, what needs to happen, and
to be fair that happens with all the different halves.
That happens when Johnson combines with Metcalf. That has happened
back in twenty twenty two was the last time Johnson
combined with Chanelle Harris Tavita. But what I feel like,
and you alluded to it off the top there, Nathan

(04:08):
Sewn just needs to ease the burden upon himself still
be the primary kicker, but when it comes to those
attacking fifth tackle options, he needs to allow you know,
maybe two or three times out of ten in those
attacking situations to go left. He doesn't have to touch
the ball to Mighty has showing his passing in game
control capability that he can unlock that left edge, and

(04:30):
I think that's only going to be to the betterment
of this Warriors team rather than being one dimensional on attack.

Speaker 3 (04:36):
Well, I'll go back to something I said on this
podcast a few weeks ago, which is that Seawn Johnson's
injury might well be the best thing that could have
happened to the Warriors this season, because that was my
biggest concern about the Warriors on attack is that they
were too predictable. We weren't seeing Luke Metcalf do a
hell of a lot of kicking, and Sean Johnson was
doing everything on the field. Tim Marty Martin was missing
for the first part of this season, and this has

(04:57):
just allowed him to, I guess, practice those skills under
pressure in game and give himself the confidence that actually
his kicking will be up to standard in terms of
steering the Warriors attack and that he's not just trying
to be like Sean Johnson. He's actually running the game
his way in terms of putting people into holes, whereas
Johnson is as a much more of a dominant kicker

(05:18):
and to mighty, Martin's strength, I supposes is growing in
that area as well. We're going to go through this
game in a lot more detail, but first let's take
a look at the highlights of the Warriors forty two
to twelve. Hiding of the Cowboys in Townsville gets us
under way.

Speaker 6 (05:35):
Here at Queensland, Egan no looker likewise there for Mudden
terms of Nickel Kunster, he picked two and wins. The
race to the corner comes to muttin terms that the
heat side falls for newer. Blakey makes a habit of this.
What a tricet for his He goes to Martins's All

(05:57):
the space in the world, Mitch Plannet, Here's Harris comes
to Mudden. Crash play.

Speaker 3 (06:04):
Bubble Berry pulls it in.

Speaker 6 (06:07):
He's away the three living up into port. He waited
for him and found him and drink horning and run away,
hold him hol under the top. It bounces forward through
the tennis and lesbiac It's backwards into the hands. Is
the call on field and the Warriors have a try

(06:27):
long pass. He a kitch though a kick which sits
over the tennis a lasiter.

Speaker 3 (06:33):
He bounds it back in.

Speaker 6 (06:35):
He bats it back in and Nickles puts it down.

Speaker 5 (06:41):
You play pol Homes burns in the corner.

Speaker 3 (06:45):
He takes no chances.

Speaker 6 (06:47):
The Rappers barriers there he gets the bounce it sits
on for him and they ish in style.

Speaker 3 (06:55):
Hear in Townsville Audio courtesye a Fox League Big League podcast. Okay,
Nick Bewley, let's go through this game in a little
bit more detail. They've rocket it out to a twenty
two nil lead all over the Cowboys in Townsville, and
it's hard to say their performance dipped with any significance
in the second half. Worries coach Andrew Webster. Please they

(07:17):
made it three wins in a row after having a
weekend off.

Speaker 7 (07:19):
I think coming off the buy, I think the boys
are always going to be excited to play and play
to speed that we wanted to play it. The worry
for me is we're going to overcook it because you're
so excited. And I thought the boys really did disciplined
and smart, and I just loved our roof for Seewear
early and how disciplinement were to Nick.

Speaker 3 (07:34):
My worry going into this game was that because we
were getting the six key players back, would there be
any rust in terms of their attack, in terms of
the combination through the spine. But I don't think we
saw any of that at all. And how much of
that in the start do you put down to the
halves what stood out most of you.

Speaker 4 (07:50):
Yeah, it's a fair point. Charles Nickel Cookstar being another
as well. Know played against Penrith but missed that one
against the Dolphins and a bit of individual brilliance to
score that first try, and I thought initially I think
they had a try ruled out off a block play
and it sort of looked like a bit of ring
Russ there after the round. But to Marie Martin as

(08:10):
we go back to, he really just controlled the tempo,
in the rhythm. It was largely in his hands and
it was just a really really thorough.

Speaker 5 (08:19):
And dominant display.

Speaker 4 (08:21):
I think it's worth mentioning too though, Nathan, that the Cowboys,
with all their uncertainty around origin.

Speaker 5 (08:26):
Were well off the pace so well.

Speaker 4 (08:29):
While this was an ultra impressive win for the Warriors,
I thought the Cowboys were incredibly poor. Missed the jump
and what was it twenty naril after twenty two minutes
and outside of that runaway try was it late in
the first half the Scott drinkwater and then a consolation
at the end just just didn't really look in the

(08:50):
contest at all, Like that Adam Fanola Blake try where
he just runs the cut line off Martin and Fanil
Black runs over the likes of the Griffin neime and
one of the other props. You know, that's one of
the softest trials I've seen this season. So credit to
the Warriors, but you know, sometimes you can sort of
all into the trap of playing at the level of

(09:10):
your opposition.

Speaker 5 (09:12):
But they were ruthless. As Andrew Webster mention, well.

Speaker 3 (09:14):
I mean you mentioned the origin and Cowboy's not backing
up after that. I mean they did. Yeah, the players
had played, but I mean they did get It's not
like it was a new team. They still had drink Water,
they still had Valentine Holmes, Tommy Deeden was there. So
it was not quite a full strength Cowboys team, but
it was close to it. They just didn't play well
and they looked really just touched on it there. And
I mentioned it at start, just defensively deficient. They seemed

(09:37):
to be on the back foot and there were just
holes opening up really easily. If you think to Mitch
Barnett's trying to Marty Martin just putting them in a hole,
and I think the defender outside to Martin Muttin just
coming in and opening up that big gap. It was
too easy.

Speaker 4 (09:49):
Almost, yeah, completely, and it's probably worth mentioning too as
well of the to Mari's four trias a couple of
slightly fortunate like that any other day, that that Rocco
berry one off the chest goes dead in goal and
it pops up and sits in his lap. And then
obviously at the remarkable effort play which you know, you
know when you speak at effort, and Dallan montenez Leslie

(10:12):
parrying the ball back Vale Holmes, I have no idea
what he was doing, went straight past his chen and
Charnce dots down for the second. So the Warriors were
just you know, if it on, if it plays constantly
throughout the contest, and the Cowboys weren't there, so yeah,
really really impressive performance and just on the on the
Fords to know we're going to get into that, but
it was, it was really I was really impressed to

(10:33):
see all the new roles that we saw on Saturday.
Jackson Ford going in to the middle used just as
a prop.

Speaker 5 (10:41):
I thought.

Speaker 4 (10:41):
The Webster used Kirk cape Pole really effectively in a
sort of triangle edge rotation with Martha nia Corde and
Mitch Barnett, so a lot to like about that performance.

Speaker 3 (10:53):
Yeah, and obviously to Mighty. Now with another halves partner,
Shanel Harris Taveta coming in and doing a brilliant job.
Here is Andrew Webster trumpeting his squad's depth, and I'm just.

Speaker 7 (11:02):
So proud of anyone that's played in those positions, and
I think they're done a great job. And when Shawn
comes back, we're going to sure that it works for
everyone and everyone gets to display their strengths, and Sean
gets to display he's how good he is, and Chanel
and Mighty they'll play a big petotal.

Speaker 3 (11:15):
Role in someway. Yeah, lets Amighty have his strengths and
be able to use them. Skippito who Harris saying Johnson
will be welcomed back with open arms when he returns
from injury. Andrew Webster saying that he's not sure if
Johnson will be back next week, but all of our
indications from Webster and from the assistant coaches is that
he should be there at Mount Smart against the storm.

Speaker 8 (11:35):
He can do some things that people just can't and
won't ever do in their career. So if he adds
that on top of doing his job for the team,
like a lot of the guys in those positions are
doing now, then that we can only get better from there.

Speaker 3 (11:46):
Adam for Noah Blake, what a comeback. One hundred and
one post contact meters, six tackle breaks and his first
half tries you talked about before. Just all power that
performance to me alleviate some of the doubt that I'll
admit I had around his commitment to the club. Coach
Andrew Webster of course unsurprised.

Speaker 7 (12:05):
I never doubted it. I hope everyone confirms to everyone
that it hasn't. He great try, scored, He got up
and celebrated in his usual manner, which I love.

Speaker 3 (12:12):
Well, what is it doing? It's just like, yeah, that's
just him. Yeah, he's done. He's done over the last
few years. Nick Bailey, did you have doubts as well
about his commitments? Has What has this performance done for
your perception of what Adam's doing at this club?

Speaker 4 (12:27):
Just quickly, that's the Michael Jordan celebration, right, we all
know that's the Michael Jordan celebration.

Speaker 5 (12:31):
Do this anyway?

Speaker 4 (12:33):
Yeah, I must admit, Nathan, I'm probably probably in your
camp as well. After those scenes at Magic Rounds, I
remember spotting on the sideline that he just looked a
little bit disinterested. This was after a massive went over
Penrith and then for him to just head straight to
the team bus not be involved in the in the
team song, a lot of red flags. I still don't

(12:54):
think where we know everything that's going on in that situation.
I totally agree, but at the same time like his
output that that was a huge performance and it can't
be questioned, and hopefully that's what we're going to get
throughout the course of the next ten or twelve weeks,
because when he's rolling, the Warriors are a hard team

(13:17):
to stop.

Speaker 3 (13:18):
Yeah, fully agree. And speaking of massive performances, let's just
touch on Jackson Ford quickly. Another big one. Just a workhorse,
seventy post contact meters, thirty three tackles, shifted from the
second row to prop and apparently he enjoyed it.

Speaker 5 (13:34):
He's machine.

Speaker 7 (13:35):
He's actually he's a machine. Asked him last week, what
was a lot going from the edge to the middle,
and he said it was fun. I don't know many
people who say it's fun. He's special.

Speaker 4 (13:43):
Your reaction to his performance, yeah, I remember an interview
I think it was last year with Jackson Ford where
he talked about how he just has to eat all
the time to keep weight to be an edgeback riller.
Now he's just slotted in the middle and done it
with great effect. Like that's a huge stint at prop

(14:04):
to go. I know obviously it had half time, but
he played sixty one minutes straight effectively before finally coming off,
and and that really like that's the first time we've
seen that middle rotation. Of course, with tool who coming back,
Dylan Walker ended up starting at Locke, Tool who's just
the second time in his Warriors career off the interchange,
and that allowed, like I've referred to before that that

(14:24):
edge rotation with Neil Cordy Barnett and Cape Pril. So
it allows Webster to be very you know, go on
the flyers to win. The best time is to rotator
his middles, rotators Fords and Jackson Ford.

Speaker 5 (14:39):
He's just just all effort.

Speaker 4 (14:41):
And I think by getting him away from that edge
where sometimes he can you know, gets a little bit
caught out sometimes with a with an obstruction in some
of those block plays, he can just stick to running
hard up the guts and straight and then tackling Blokes,
which is which is what he does so well. So
I can't see Nathan them them steering away from that now.

(15:01):
To be honest, it works so well that I think
going forward that that's what it will look like. We'll
probably see Tool who you know, start games. Dylan Walker
has been sensational that they ended up actually playing the
same minutes against the Cowboys, a tour Who had forty
nine minutes, Dylan Walker had forty nine minutes, just a
slot bit of overlap there when Ford got a break
with tour Who going into prop Walker back onto the field.

Speaker 5 (15:24):
So I think it gives Webster great options.

Speaker 4 (15:27):
And as you mentioned earlier in the podcast around Chanelle
Harris Tavita, if Johnson comes back, I think Hill then
slode in at fourteen. Maybe some games he comes on
and spells Wade Egg and maybe some games he's just
there purely as backup. So a lot of really good
headaches for Andrew Webster, but I think he's uncovered something
pretty good there.

Speaker 5 (15:46):
And Jackson Ford it prop.

Speaker 3 (15:48):
Yeah, and just touching on Dylan Walker, obviously, Todo Harris
had to have a couple of games off because he
was managing Nigglie injuries. The workload he was enduring was
just astronomical given the injuries through the Fords. But now
that those injuries have been solved, and I don't think
anyone can say that Dylan Walker has done a bad
job in Tohoo Harris's absence at Locke, I think he's

(16:10):
been superb. Last week on the podcast, I named him
as my third best Warriors player of the year so far,
and he could have been high had he not been
injured for part of it. But I think if you
do have Walker and Harris playing near identical minutes, maybe
slightly in favor of Harris, we see to who playing
that facilitator role almost like a half sometimes, and Walker's
obviously so good at that as well. Their skill sets,

(16:32):
even though they're physically very different, the skill sets are
actually really similar. Yeah, And a ball playing lock is
so critical in the NRL these days. You look across
the top tier teams Penrith with is Ieo. You know,
he's the sort of the prototypical lock these days in

(16:52):
the modern NRL game.

Speaker 4 (16:54):
And Dylan Walker, I think, you know a lot of
credit and rightly so has gone to Mighty Martin. But
the combination that Walker and Martin have had in tandem
has been nothing short of sensation on this last three weeks.

Speaker 5 (17:05):
So I think there's a real.

Speaker 4 (17:07):
Argument and case to be made going forward, Nathan, that
it's going to it could be quality over quantity. For
tour Who Harris particularly, you know, as we've alluded to,
been pretty banged up. He said, tape on his knee
for about two years and he's obviously had this rist
issue the last couple of weeks. I think we can
get more out of tall Who Harris over fifty minutes
than potentially seventy and allow Dylan Walker to flourish in

(17:29):
that lock position as well.

Speaker 2 (17:31):
This is the Big League Podcast. This is owing Yeah,
the Big League Podcast on the Warriors Bad Wagons.

Speaker 5 (17:41):
It's day one, Okay.

Speaker 3 (17:42):
The Melbourne Storm at Mount Smart Saturday night. How good.
The Super Rugby semifinals just incidentally have been arranged so
that they do not clash with the Warriors game. Who
would have thought that Super Rugby would be moving itself
around to facilitate a Warriors regular season game, But it's
a sign of the times. Melbourne Storm the top of

(18:04):
the table nine wins, three losses coming off thirty six
twenty eight win over Newcastle at Amy Park, and I
had to look back at some of their results and
the top of the table. They've got nine wins. Not
many of their results have been convincing at all. Ten
out of their twelve games have been decided by eight
points or less. This is a team that is used

(18:24):
to tight battles and last minute plays, which of course
brings me back to this nightmare.

Speaker 6 (18:30):
Hughes, Pasant, Papenhausen.

Speaker 3 (18:33):
Remus Smith. He goes to can't you believe it? Coats
my gosh, he left across, he jumped like a rainbow
and came up with a pot of gold from Melbourne
that last minute tried denying the Warriors a famous win

(18:53):
at Amy Park thirty to twenty six to the final score.
Earlier this season, Nick Bulliot send shivers down the spine,
doesn't it?

Speaker 4 (19:00):
Oh yeah, I think you just lost about half your
listeners there, Nathan.

Speaker 5 (19:03):
That's reminiscing about that game. Still nightmare stuff, but our
credits in Melbourn.

Speaker 4 (19:09):
Yeah, they probably have been far from their best this year,
and and without Ryan Pappenhausen for for large chunks obviously,
Cameron Munster is now out for for this foreseeable future.
But they're they're just such a great system team, Like
like who even is Tyrone Wishart And he just slots
and he's in my fantasy team. I can tell you

(19:31):
that because he's cheap. But he slots in at five
eighth and scores a double against Newcastle and looks as
good as cam Munster. Like they're just so good at
at unearthing talents that you know other clubs either consider
surplus to to their to their roster. Nick Meaney being
another one you know in the centers. He was just
cast away randomly from the Bulldogs and now is just

(19:53):
an outstanding pay Let's not forget Ali Katala, who was
a former Warrior's arguably having.

Speaker 5 (19:59):
His best season on the on the edge.

Speaker 4 (20:00):
There, so very classy team and but look it's it's
good we're not playing them on Anzac Day, so I'll
give the Wars a red hot go. It's certainly got
game of the round all over it.

Speaker 3 (20:12):
Yeah, Xavier Coats and Harry Grant backing up from Origin
against Newcastle on the weekend and as you mentioned there,
Nick mean he's been in great form as well, Elie
Cator as well, Nelson us off for Saul and Mourner,
who there was a bit of doubt earlier in the
season of whether or not he was getting on with
Craig Bellamy. He was in reserve grade but still being
used off the interchange for impact and the same sort

(20:36):
of way the Warriors have used Madat and New Cordy,
and the same way that the Cowboys have used Jason
Tom lawlall nick. What have you made of the Storm
this year in terms of their style and what can
we take out from that last minute loss last round
in terms of what the Warriors are looking at this weekend.

Speaker 5 (20:52):
You a lot of five hours still out wide. As
you mentioned.

Speaker 4 (20:54):
Coach there, you know I wouldn't want to be kicking
to his wing of course, just such a such a
tall timber, and as on the back on the on
the end of so many of those shifts to the
left edge for the Storm that they're largely playing through
Jerome Hughes now with no Munster, I think I think
Papenhausen maybe is a chance of returning. But the young

(21:19):
for a longull who's filled in at fullback. He's an
excitement machine as well, and it was interesting on Sunday
Harry Grant returning from Origin, but coming off the bench
they had Bronson Garlic again and another a name that
you know, not many of our listeners will know. He
started at hooker and then Grant came on and had impacts.
So yeah, again, they're just such a very strong system team,

(21:43):
so well organized. You're going to get limited opportunities, so
you really need to keep the foot on the gas,
make the most of them, and then defensively really really
hold firm. And of course the Warriors coming off one
of their best defensive performances, I think it's fair to say,
conceding just the two tries that they'll take a great

(22:04):
deal of confidence from that. So huge game. In terms
of the context of the Warriors season, the Storm sitting
pretty there, maybe not as important to them, so perhaps
it bodes well for the wat.

Speaker 3 (22:17):
Yeah, Warrior's sitting one point outside the eight at the
time of recording. In terms of the Warriors team, obviously,
as we mentioned, we're expecting Seawan Johnson back this weekend.
If he doesn't come back, honestly, I'm pretty happy with
Tomai and Chanell continuing to run as the has combination.
Roger ty Varsischek there was a question mark over him,

(22:37):
and Andrew Webster did hint that he could be ready
for this weekend. I think NRL casualty Ward has him
returning in round sixteen, which is one round earlier than
he was originally thought for around seventeen return, but otherwise
expecting a pretty similar team just quickly.

Speaker 4 (22:54):
That's going to be That's probably going to be the
bigger headache I think, and I'm sure you and burd
will will rip in when it gets to the time
where RTS is fit. But Adam Pompey just quietly has
been very good in the last three weeks, and I
don't think RTS has sort of lived up to the
billing at left sensor. Yes, we all know what he's
capable of, but that's it. That's going to be a

(23:16):
tough call and I'm just going to throw it out there,
so that's on the record. I wouldn't be surprised if
it's RTS left wing Marcello Montoya left out going forward.

Speaker 3 (23:27):
Well, that's that is a big call. But to be honest,
I have so much respect for Adam Pompey. He has
been one of the standing He's a little bit quieter
and the game just gone. But certainly in the in
the Dolphins game, in the Penrith game, he was one
of the standout players. And I do have so much
respect him just because of how much crap he cops
from the Warriors fan base, and he still goes out
there and performs and takes his opportunities and Handy.

Speaker 4 (23:49):
Gold kick its Nate. If Sean's still a little bit troubled.
Obviously it's been the pick, but they had their Archilley's
issue as well. I think it was six from seven
off the t on the weekend Pompy. So a lot
of strings to the buck.

Speaker 2 (24:02):
The Big League Pod on the Warriors Bad Wagons since
day one, The Big League Podcast for the biggest league fans.

Speaker 3 (24:13):
Right neck, Let's go through quick fire predictions to finish
last round, Berg edged me five for WHU means he
has a two tip lead. We've still got the Bulldogs
and the Ears result to come tonight. You know, I'm
really starting to question Michael Burgess's commitment to this podcast, Pulls,
and we've been arguing over the last couple of weeks
because he didn't put in any tips when you came

(24:35):
on the podcast a few weeks ago. So I gave
him zero for that round and he's not happy because
it closed the gap right up. But if he doesn't
email me as tips this week, I've got it on
record right now. Bird, you're getting zero again because you
had so much warning.

Speaker 4 (24:49):
So I'm not playing on Burger's behalf. I'm just shooting
from the hip here.

Speaker 5 (24:54):
Yeah, a bit of fun.

Speaker 3 (24:55):
You're not playing on Burger's behalf because you're actually pretty
good and I just don't want you to give him
any help.

Speaker 4 (25:00):
Well, I think from memory, Nathan, I tipped Penrith and
you tipped Cronulla on that last time I was on
the podcast three weeks Penrith won forty two Nils.

Speaker 5 (25:09):
I'm just just going to leave that there.

Speaker 8 (25:11):
All right.

Speaker 3 (25:12):
Well, let's not talk about that. I don't need to
get into a fight with you as well. First game,
Nick Quick five predictions Sharks Dolphins should be a pretty
interesting game.

Speaker 5 (25:22):
Yeah, Dolphins are coming off of buye again.

Speaker 4 (25:24):
Always interesting to see how teams come off the by
Warriors of course, super impressive off the buye. But I
thought the Sharks it was a real real performance. They'll
be proud of. Craig Fitzgibbon was super happy after they went.
They were down early against the Broncos at Suncourt no
Nico Hines, of course, and they rarely took that game
by the scruff of the neck early in the second half.

(25:47):
And look, I think back at Shark Park, they'll get
the job done over the Dolphins, who have been impressive.
But I just wonder but like last year in their
foundation year, where you know, they rocketed out of the
gates and then you know the worm turned to touch.

Speaker 5 (26:01):
So I'm going to go Cranullah.

Speaker 3 (26:03):
Yeah, I picked the Broncos last week obviously, the Sharks
getting up twenty to twelve, and I just felt the Broncos,
even with Origin, had the momentum, but the Sharks turning
it around. Raiders versus the Cowboys in camera.

Speaker 4 (26:17):
Yeah, Raiders another team coming off the buy. But I
think it's some pretty big concerns again for Todd Payton
and the Cowboys. Defensively, they're a bit of a rabbel
and it wasn't for the first time. They've leaked a
ton of points obviously coming off that loss to the Warriors.

Speaker 5 (26:36):
So Raiders, you know they've been sharp. I thought when
they lost Jamal.

Speaker 4 (26:39):
Fogerdy at half back they were going to struggle, but
Ko Weeks has been a real fine for them, so
I'm going to Yeah, the Green Machine going.

Speaker 5 (26:46):
To roll on.

Speaker 3 (26:47):
Yeah. I mean the Cowboys defense was really the thing
that stood out from that Warriors game, and let's let's
be really the Raiders haven't had fantastic defense either. I'm
expecting a very high scoring contest, but off the by
given what we saw from the Cowboys and off the
buy for the Raiders ole back camera at home Rabbit
O's Broncos Nick.

Speaker 4 (27:07):
Yeah, this is bit of a wild prediction given their
ladder positioning, but I'm going the Bunnies here. I think
they've found something in the last week or two. I
think Latrell Mitchell is playing with a real purpose and energy.
Jack White and finally moving into the five eighth position
having been largely used at center. Cody Walker at seven

(27:28):
Damien Cook. That's arguably one of the best spines in
the competition actually in terms of name value. And the
Broncos of course, no Ree Welsh still because it's an
eleven day stand down from that after getting nailed by
Joseph Siletti in Origin one, and I thought they looked
a little bit lacking with no Welsh so I am

(27:49):
going to go the Rabbits.

Speaker 3 (27:52):
Yeah, I know it's Origin period, but I'm looking at
the results.

Speaker 2 (27:56):
Right.

Speaker 3 (27:56):
The Broncos obviously beaten by the Sharks, probably expected to
win that game given that the dip in Sharks form
losing to the Eels. But the week before that the
Broncos had to buy they lost to the ty The
Broncos are in a little bit of a They scraped
past the Seagulls and then before that they beat the Eels.
But I feel like the Broncos are in a bit

(28:17):
of a hole. And now we're in this week where
it's just a decent amount of time in between each
Origin game, and I feel like Kevin Waldas might put
a rocket up their asses because they really need to
get into gear if they're going to stay in this
sort of Top four conversation because slipping a little bit.
So I'll back them to come back Tiger's Titans in
the game of the Round.

Speaker 4 (28:39):
Oh dear, oh, it's not going well for Benji Marsha
and Tiger Town. And I see they're halfback Lockey Galvin,
who's been a bit of a fine debuting this year,
is just angling for a release as well, so it's
not getting any better. The Titans were pretty ordinary against

(29:00):
South Sydney coin flip game here, but I'll go David
Fathea to prove a point try and get back back
into the Queensland side and or a double and the
Titans win.

Speaker 3 (29:10):
I don't care, but yeah, Titans Warriors Storm.

Speaker 4 (29:13):
Let's move on our game of the round. This is
this is the game of the round. This is where
all my attention will be on Saturday nights. Warriors off
off three just brilliant performances and wins again of course
a sellout at Mount Smart butts and I'm going head
over heart here reluctantly, Nathan, the Storm, just.

Speaker 3 (29:38):
Get off this podcast. Look if I look at the
Storm results, the number of close games they've had, the
last minute try, last game, and the amount of confidence
the Warriors had regardless, this game will be tight. Obviously
you're going with the Storm to get over and that
would not be unusual at all. That is exactly what
is expected. But I think given the confidence that the
Warriors will have Sean Johnson coming back, the Mount Smart factor,

(30:02):
I'm going to back the Warriors to beat the table
topping Storm. On Saturday Night at Mount Smart Eels Man
versus the Roosters.

Speaker 5 (30:10):
I roosters.

Speaker 4 (30:12):
Yeah, I think the Roosters that that buy probably came
at a at a pretty good time for them, and
they won't be they will be without Joseph Suali, but
I still think they've got a lot of a lot
of class out wide. You're Joey Martin, who's James Tedesco.
We'll come back after the week or the call up
to New South Wales. So yeah, I'm pretty confident around

(30:36):
this one with the Roosters.

Speaker 3 (30:39):
Yeah, I don't need to think too hard about that.
Just quickly Joseph Sali head on Reese Welsh scending off
on the.

Speaker 5 (30:48):
Quickly.

Speaker 4 (30:49):
No, I would have given it a yellow card really,
that was it was direct shoulder the head.

Speaker 3 (30:57):
He wasn't slipping out.

Speaker 4 (30:58):
Yeah, I don't like Yeah, we might need another podcast
for that one, but I don't like it so early
in a contest that was so much on the line
that a team to be down to twelve unless it's
absolute thuggery.

Speaker 5 (31:11):
So I thought there was enough mitigation there for it
just to be ten.

Speaker 4 (31:14):
But no, I'm neither here nor there to be perfectly.

Speaker 3 (31:17):
Frank No, I think it was a sending off Joseph Swali.
He could have been way lower. Seagules, Dragons.

Speaker 4 (31:24):
I thought the Seagulls, even though they were tipped up
by Penrith at the weekend, still looking pretty sharp. And
I know the Dragons just put fifty on the Tigers
Zach Lomax with a hat trick. But I think on
paper manly of a little bit more about them. So
I'm going to go manly bounce back.

Speaker 3 (31:46):
Oh ah, drags. Yeah, I'm going to go with the
dragons here, just on a whim. And I realized I
didn't tip the Eels Roosters. I'm backing the roosters, just
to be clear. Finally, Nights versus the Panthers.

Speaker 4 (32:03):
Yeah, the Panthers just roll on another system team, isn't it. No, No,
Nathan Cleary, No no, Dylan Edwards at the weekend and
still getting the job done. So no, don't even have
to think to us about this one. Panthers all the way.
Panthers to win it.

Speaker 3 (32:18):
Thank you so much in the community for your time,
your wisdom, your insight. In the absence of a lazy
Michael Purgas, please follow and rate the podcast. We'll be

and Mound Smart can't wait. My name is Nathan Limb.
