Speaker 1 (00:00):
Weather on the country with Fiji, where happiness comes naturally. Okay,
Phil Duncan from weather Watch, as always on a Monday, pill,
is it too early for a field day's forecast.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
It is a little bit too early. It's still half
a month away technically, so we're not quite there yet,
but we're getting closer to it. Next time we talk, definitely, Well.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
Next time we talk will be next Tuesday. Of course
King's Birthday, not Queen's birthday. These days long weekend, Phil,
Normally the weather has a bit of a change around then.
If it's been fine and settled, you can guarantee on
a long holiday weekend, mother nature kicks up. What's happening?

Speaker 2 (00:39):
Yes, if you exactly bang on, do you want a
job with us? It's been a remarkably settled past month,
and there are some regions that haven't really had proper
rain in several weeks. We've had this very settle weather
due to high pressure. So this week high pressure carries
on moving through the country. It means we'll get some showers,

(01:00):
we'll get a bit of frost, some fog, bit of
cold weather coming back in again. For some areas that
might have had it ease back a little bit, but
there's nothing really big happening until we get to the weekend.
And the weekend starts off really settled, but by the
time we get to Monday, it looks as though we
could have some heavy rain, thunderstorms and some strong wind
around certain parts of the country, especially the northern ends

(01:22):
of both of the main islands, so the Upper North Island,
the Upper South Island, and also along the western side
of New Zealand. That says high pressure finally moves away
after being with us for several weeks, and we get
a large low that's coming out of New South Wales
and we'll be bringing them some much need to brain
as well this coming week. So we've finally got low
pressure coming back into the forecast.

Speaker 1 (01:43):
I was talking to Richard Dawkins and Marlboro. He said
they're having a really good season. But Canterbury, I still
hair is very dry.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
Yeah, it's been very dry there and it's drying out
further as we go through the through the weeks that
we've just been through, that's for sure. North Otago also
fairly dry, and we've seen the lower half of the
or lower quarter of the North Island drying out in
some areas, and so I think this potential rain coming
through next week will be very welcome. You know, I

(02:11):
can tell you that my lawn here in Auckland, which
I use my lawn to measure everything, it's really dried up.
It's really slowed down in growth, it's dried out, and
we haven't really had cold weather up here. So it's
a sign of the lack of rain that's been falling
more than anything else.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
It will change once there is upon us spell dunk
and we'll catch you next Tuesday on the country. Appreciate
your effort on a Monday sounds good.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
Thank you.
