Speaker 1 (00:00):
Ar time to take our monthly look at the wall market.
Joining me is GM for Will at PGG right and
Rachel's share a good afternoon.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
Rate, Good afternoon row.
Speaker 1 (00:09):
So what's happening in the market at the moment. Let's
start in the South Island where we're having the peak
of the fine wall season.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
It certainly is, and our crash each Will exchange is
performing extremely well. In this final space. We actually see
that we're punching above our weight against the Australian market
at present, which is very pleasing. Once again, international buyers
were attracted to our bench yesterday which helped push the
price for some high quality fine wall lots. Ourgros should
be extremely proud of producing these lots. There was actually
(00:37):
some extreme bidding taking place in a line of ultrafying
thirteen Micromwell achieved a record price of seventy one dollars
per kg. Greasy Doug McKay, who's our superstar auctioneer here,
said he hasn't laid a hammer down on price this
high since we've been auctioning out of the Blenham Roade premises,
and we've been here nearly twenty years, so a really
pleasing result for our Central Otago grower. There was also
(00:58):
a limited that good offering of crossbred wall at the
auction yesterday which saw the market rebound once again to
the grower's favor.
Speaker 1 (01:05):
Brilliant and I love getting one over the Aussies, so
good on you South Island. What about the North Island.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
It's a simple supply and demand curve dominating the North
Island this month. The bales were back from the rostered
amount planned, but that's all the full bench of buyers
bidding really strongly for the longer wall and some of
the second sheer wall. The North Island's now on a
three week break, will be back on the tenth of
October and that will resume with a duel sale with
the South Island. So there's a good amount of wool
coming on offer.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
Brilliant. What else is happening right, So we're.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
Really looking forward to welcoming the next intake of students
from sit are coming to our napire Wall store next
month to continue their training and will technology and classing,
and it's really important to us that we continue to
play our part to help educate the future generation of
these dedicated willies. So we're really looking forward to meeting them.
Speaker 1 (01:52):
