Speaker 1 (00:00):
From the cricket field to the cowshead. It's the Country
Sport Breakfast with Brian Kelly on gold Sport.
Speaker 2 (00:12):
Stay away from Me alright, It's time to hit stateside,
and this this time to the West coast of the
United States. She is in another Washington, but it's the
state of Washington and not DC. Catching up with our
US correspondent Amy Taylor.
Speaker 3 (00:28):
Good morning, Amy, Good morning BK. Yeah, I'm in Washington State.
I'm here to drop blife off at UNI, at the
University of Washington AK aka the Husky. So we're very excited.
She goes to we do her move in on to
our Tuesday, your Wednesday, so big, big times ahead.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
How she how she feeling? Is she a little nervous
now leaving you know the nest?
Speaker 1 (00:55):
No?
Speaker 3 (00:55):
No, Actually she's really excited. It's been a long time coming.
Utubbs aren't very late. Their classes don't start until the
twenty fifth of September, and her two bessies have been
in school for about a month now, so she's been
waiting and waiting and waiting, so now she just wants
to get going.
Speaker 1 (01:12):
Nice.
Speaker 3 (01:12):
Everybody's excited by mom.
Speaker 2 (01:14):
See Eleida, yep, yep, all right, So the big talking
point since we've spoken last, of course, there was the debate,
the Kamala Harris Donald Trump debate, the washup from there.
What was the reaction like from basically your friends in
the public.
Speaker 3 (01:33):
Yeah, well, you know, we had said that we weren't
going to be talking this week, and I texted you
and said, I don't know how we couldn't talk this
week because it was such a stunning debate generally speaking,
not just my friends who are tend to be Democrats,
although I have a lot of Republican friends as well.
But really the thought is that Kamala just took it,
(01:55):
I mean, clearly won that debate. However, Trump has himself
believes he won, which is why he's saying that there
aren't going to be any more debates because he's he
clearly won. He thought it was very unfair. He thinks
everybody at ABC should be fired because they were fact
checking him and not and not Kamala. And he says
(02:16):
he's clearly won, although Republicans are also acknowledging that he
didn't do well enough debates. So you know that's the
general consensus. Uh, the Republicans are really on their their
back feet now, and yeah, I mean kamalagist. You know,
I think her whole demeanor, she went after him on
things that just really got him going. Uh, you know,
(02:39):
the number of people at his rallies, you know, just
all sorts of things that were just triggering. And he
just looked mad the whole time. I mean, he was
rattled and just rambled. And the thing that really got
that I found very interesting is you know, he was
in office, he's for four years. He was out of
office for four years, so that's at least eight years.
(03:01):
And then he had a couple of years, you know,
to plan before he went in the office. And when
he was talking about healthcare and he was asked if
he had a plan, He's like, oh, yeah, it's in development.
Speaker 1 (03:11):
Yes.
Speaker 3 (03:11):
He had at least eight years to come up with
a plan, and he still has no plan of healthcare.
Speaker 2 (03:16):
So have there been many polls since? I mean one
of the latest polls saying s outside regarding the two contenders.
Speaker 3 (03:25):
Well, they continue to poll They're still saying it's it's close.
Although Kamala after that debate raised forty seven million dollars
in the twenty four hours right after the debate, The
most recent poll I saw was one in Virginia. Now
keep in mind the DC Maryland Virginia area is known
as the DMB. It's all very close. Virginia tends to
(03:46):
be the Republican state in that area. And the most
recent poll I saw was that Virginia is saying that
poll there says that Kamala is well ahead. It's not
just by the margin of error, which is a couple
percent points. I've seen polls that say she's ahead in
Virginia seven points, nine points, thirteen points, So the tide
(04:08):
is turning.
Speaker 2 (04:09):
Bring on November, all right. Of course, the big story
in the last twenty four hours has been the sick
and assassination attempt of Donald Trump, this time on his
golf course. That will be a big story over there.
Speaker 3 (04:22):
It is, And in fact, I've read something today that
said the Republicans are blaming the Democrats. They use this
video that has Bernie Sanders in it calling for that
Trump is We've said it time and time again that
Trump is a threat to democracy, and they're saying that
that call and that statement is causing these assassination attempts
(04:47):
on Trump. But you have to remember the Democrats want
gun reform, and they keep saying that, you know, violence
is no you know, no way to solve this. So
I think it's just they're trying to, you know, take
their spin doing the spin doctor thing, and that's not
really going to work. But they are trying to say
that the Democrats are responsible for these assassination attempts. The
(05:11):
thing I'm really impressed by is, you know, we see
the Secret Service and the protective details, always scanning and
looking around and focused, and I don't think we have
a real appreciation for the skill of Secret Service because
you know, my attention to detail isn't great. I often
go on tricks with life and she said, did you
see this? Did you see that? And I didn't see that.
(05:32):
The fact that the Secret Service is on that golf course,
and I'm sure you've seen the photos of the fence
with those backpacks on it. The descriptions have been that
there's vines growing on that fence as well, that he
would really well camouflage and for the Secret Service to
pick out the rifle barrel through that fence through the
vines with the backpacks, you know, black backpacks covering the
(05:54):
rifle barrel, I'm so impressed by their ability to pick
that out. I wouldn't have, you know, on a golf course,
even scanning, I don't think I would have picked that up.
But that is the talent of.
Speaker 2 (06:04):
The Secret Service, absolutely. And the Dawn didn't seem to
be too rattled as well. I think he may have
finished his round. Who knows. Hey, Amy, will let you
go and farewell your daughter. This time next week you'll
be a solo mum back in DC.
Speaker 1 (06:18):
I will.
Speaker 3 (06:18):
But actually, this time next week, I think I'm going
to be on a plane. So you're gonna have to
get someone to cover me and we'll catch up in
two weeks.
Speaker 2 (06:25):
All righty, we'll catch up with that farmer friend. Good
on you, Amy, good luck, Thanks for joining us.
Speaker 3 (06:30):
Thanks mate, you have a good one.
Speaker 2 (06:31):
Amy Taylor, a US correspondent here on gold Sport. Yeah.
Next week, chance to catch up with Colin the Iowa
corn and be farmer. Will do that next week on
gold Sport.
