Speaker 1 (00:00):
Rugby League on the country Sport breakfast with pet stop
your car service doctor using the latest technology. Of course
it's some matter of fact.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
Yeah, we keep the faith weekend week out on the show.
What in New Zealand Warriors back in action this weekend
across the Ditch against Cannery Bankstown the Bulldogs. Five o'clock
on Saturday afternoon our time. Joining us on the show
this morning, Warriors forward Kurt Caple on his way to physio.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
Morning Kurt, good morning. How are we good mate?

Speaker 2 (00:31):
More reportedly, how are you feeling?

Speaker 1 (00:33):
Yeah? Bad, just coming into MAT's done and the training
today and we're on the plane. So yeah, big day.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
So last week was your first start since round nine.
Of course you had the injury the interchange bench. Does
the mentality change from starting or coming off the bench
for you?

Speaker 1 (00:51):
Not too much, not really obviously. This is the time
we run a little bit basically keeps youself warm. But
other than that, the job still were same. Let's go down,
run and tackle and.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
Go and do your job and do what you paid
for the last wee while injury disappointment, being reintegrated back
off the bench, then the origin recall as well, and
now you're starting. I mean, you've been in a way
sort of all over the place. What have you learned
about yourself in that time?

Speaker 1 (01:20):
Yeah, I guess you're just going to keep on going.
And now you still never know what'll happen. I was
obviously quite surprised when I got the call up, but
that's going to open But yeah, I just I guess
you just never know what can happen. Just keep on grinding.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
Did you did you enjoy the time in the State
of Origin tea with Queensland?

Speaker 1 (01:39):
It's great. We had a great camp and unfortunate as
a result, but and all, it was a good camp.
It was good to be back in around the boys.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
And that series is locked up. Really it could go
either way, couldn't.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
It, Eh? I think when I went, but we wait
to see You.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
Spent two years with Cam to around her at Penrith
and he was your defensive coach. So the Dogs now
the top two defensive teams in the competition. So what
have you made of their rise this year? I mean,
did you see that coming?

Speaker 1 (02:12):
Yeah? And you know, always going to be successful once
Cam got a job there, it was always going to
take him a couple of years. I think they're going
a good roster now and you're starting to see what
they can actually do. And yeah, unfortunately I haven't been
able to watch too many of their games this year.
Is they're on a bit laid over here. But yeah,

(02:33):
I'm sure. I'm sure they'll be tough to beat this week.
That's one thing on that I think.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
The first time versus the Broncos that you and Chanelle
Harris Tavita started on the same edge five eighth and
second row. How are you seeing that combination going at
the moment you're working together?

Speaker 1 (02:48):
Well, yeah, you Chanelle is a great player. He's had
he's had a pretty up and down season in terms
of injuries as well, but it's great to see fit
healthy and you know what they can do on the
fields pretty special. So it's going to be good to
be able to play next to him and to be
able to do that week in week now, it'll be great.

Speaker 2 (03:08):
And looking back at last week and played really well
against the Broncos, do you feel like each game you
know you're getting better and better. Maybe another trial for
you getting back into the Maroons.

Speaker 1 (03:19):
Oh, I see what happens. I'm not too concern about
the moment. I'm just worried about obviously winning for the Warriors,
and then yeah, forget that done, and I'm sure we've
been good dead.

Speaker 2 (03:29):
Are you a player that looks at the championship ladder
or do you avoid getting caught up and all that
and just look at every game and I must win.

Speaker 1 (03:38):
Yeah, No, I don't look into that too much. Obviously,
it's there in the background, and you go trying to
win every game. So I don't think too much changes.
But you know, I guess towards the end of the
season can add a little bit of pressure. But yeah,
I haven't really looked at it too much. I know
it's quite a tight competition and if we three a
few wins together, we're shading the top concern.

Speaker 2 (04:02):
So, Kurt, your first season over here in New Zealand,
what have you made of it? I mean, if you
enjoyed playing at Mount Smart in front of the faithful, Yeah.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
Mate, it's been great. Unfortunately we're not, you know, not
winning every game, but one thing the fans will do,
they show up every week. So it's been great starts
the year, and yeah, it would be a great finish
as well.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
All right, we'll let you get off to the physio mate,
and good luck with travel across the Tezzi today and
good luck on Saturday afternoon.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
Thanks mate, Thank you.

Speaker 2 (04:32):
Caple joining us here on the show this morning. Your
five o'clock kickoff over there, which is a good time,
that's our time. And then then of course we'll lead
into the All Black match just after seven o'clock

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
