Speaker 1 (00:01):
The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Foo Fighters there on the Hodaki Big Show this Monday evening.
The time is 6.42. Fellas, let's give out some advice.

Speaker 3 (00:14):
Be pretty nips 69 at gmail.com.

Speaker 4 (00:21):
Get in touch with the fellas.

Speaker 5 (00:24):
Please do get in touch. Real email address, meet pretty nips.

Speaker 6 (00:27):
With the fellas.

Speaker 4 (00:28):
Jase.

Speaker 5 (00:30):
Meet PaddyNib69 at gmail.com. If we read it on the show,
it's 100% anonymous. And if we read it on the show, boom,
$ 50 reboot.

Speaker 6 (00:37):
Boom. Hell good, man.

Speaker 4 (00:38):
Boom.

Speaker 6 (00:39):
Boom.

Speaker 4 (00:39):
That's enough to get you a hell of a fee.

Speaker 6 (00:41):
That is dead. It's great stuff.

Speaker 4 (00:43):
Hey, fellas, boom.

Speaker 5 (00:44):
Boom. Hey, just chill.

Speaker 4 (00:45):
This one here is from anonymous. Boom.

Speaker 5 (00:48):
This one here is from anonymous, Mogi.

Speaker 4 (00:49):
Good spotting.

Speaker 5 (00:50):
Boom. G'day, fellas. Anonymous here.

Speaker 1 (00:51):
Boom.

Speaker 7 (00:52):
Boom.

Speaker 4 (00:53):
Got a conundrum.

Speaker 5 (00:54):
My closest group of friends, there are four of us,
is unfortunately having a member leave us. We're based in
Christchurch and he's flying to Wellington to study at police
college so he can become a backbone. My question to you,
handsome studs, is what do we do? He's leaving three
of his mates to go pursue his future. Personally, I
think this is outrageous. Can't we all just stay in
Christchurch and drink ourselves to death responsibly? I say I

(01:17):
wish him well, but in the end, I'm just sad
we can't use his house as a hangout spot on
the weekends for our filth. Not to mention the shift
in dynamic within our friend group. Only three of us.
Can you imagine what that would be like? We might
have to start a radio show. Haha, lol.

Speaker 4 (01:30):
Backbone.

Speaker 5 (01:31):
One more thing is that I am a heavy user
of illegal drugs. He is aware of this and I'm
scared he's going to arrest me.

Speaker 4 (01:38):
Cheers, Anonymous. Sounds like he's also a heavy user of
illegal drugs. Well, I don't know about that.

Speaker 3 (01:42):
I'll tell you what, you can't have a group of four.
Just one of them is not into it at all.
I think they're all into it. I think this guy's
a shocking bastard.

Speaker 6 (01:50):
Yeah, I agree.

Speaker 4 (01:51):
And I don't know whether he's really New Zealand police worthy.
If I was this gentleman here, Anonymous, is that his name? Anonymous, yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:58):
I'd be making a discreet phone call, an anonymous phone call,
to the New Zealand Police Training College there in Wellington.
And I'd be saying, you've got yourself a drug addict
on your hands.

Speaker 4 (02:09):
And kick him out.

Speaker 3 (02:10):
So I was two problems at once. One, we don't
have a drug addict for a police officer walking the streets,
walking the beat in New Zealand.

Speaker 5 (02:17):
And also, you get your friend back. Yeah, and that'll
be the last time he tries to, you know, get
a career.

Speaker 4 (02:21):
Better his life. Better his life.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
But I also wonder on the other side of it,
you know, the guy that actually wrote the email there,
he's a piece of work too.

Speaker 4 (02:27):
He sounds like a shocking bastard.

Speaker 6 (02:29):
Who, Anonymous?

Speaker 2 (02:29):
Well, he's basically saying he's buggering off. We can't use
his house anymore.

Speaker 4 (02:33):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:33):
So was he ever really your friend or was that
just your drug den?

Speaker 3 (02:36):
Well, maybe, you know, Anonymous used to get his drugs off.
This guy is going to be the police officer. Maybe
that's why he loved them so much. Let's not cast aspersions.

Speaker 2 (02:44):
Well, it just sounded pretty obvious from what he was
saying in the email there, Keezy.

Speaker 4 (02:47):
Yeah, but you.

Speaker 5 (02:48):
Can't just read between the lines like that and just
jump to a conclusion.

Speaker 4 (02:51):
If I had to guess, they're both shocking bastards.

Speaker 7 (02:54):
Yes.

Speaker 5 (02:55):
Okay, so anonymous phone call.

Speaker 2 (02:56):
And if you're going to be a policeman, you've got
to read between the lines.

Speaker 6 (02:58):
You know what I mean?

Speaker 4 (02:59):
That's half the job, Keezy, is reading between the lines.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
Really?

Speaker 4 (03:02):
Making shit up.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
Sounds like this particular guy is sniffing the lines, but.

Speaker 6 (03:08):
Hey! Yeah, Jase.

Speaker 3 (03:11):
Yeah, Jase.

Speaker 1 (03:12):
There he is.

Speaker 4 (03:13):
There he is. Hey, we got ourselves a trailer.

Speaker 5 (03:17):
$ 50 rebug about you. $ 50 rebug about you to you, Jase.

Speaker 6 (03:20):
Thanks, man.

Speaker 4 (03:21):
Because that was good shit.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
Pugs.

Speaker 6 (03:22):
I'll use that tonight.

Speaker 5 (03:24):
Pugs, can you sniff this?

Speaker 4 (03:25):
Ah, snip. Oh, dear. And then you've ruined it. Forget it. Oh, God.

Speaker 6 (03:30):
End on a downer.

Speaker 4 (03:32):
Oh, sorry.

Speaker 1 (03:33):
The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.

Speaker 2 (03:37):
Here's Panama there on the goat countdown coming in at
a rollicking 203, fellas.

Speaker 6 (03:43):
That surprised me, I'll be honest with you.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
Yes.

Speaker 4 (03:47):
Fellas, I was down in Wellington last week for, well,
we call it beervana.

Speaker 5 (03:51):
That's what it's called, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 3 (03:53):
And the next day after Birvana, you and I, Jase,
we'd been down there, hadn't we, working like dogs.

Speaker 4 (04:00):
Yeah, man.

Speaker 3 (04:01):
While also enjoying all the hospitality that was being offered
to us, I went along to a local cafe.

Speaker 4 (04:07):
And I was working away there, old mogie working away.

Speaker 6 (04:10):
Tap, tap, tap, tap.

Speaker 4 (04:12):
Old mogie, tappity, tap, tap there, bit of a hangover. Oh, God,
a little bit over it.

Speaker 3 (04:16):
When this fellow approaches me and he says, oh, I
haven't seen you for a while.

Speaker 4 (04:22):
And he's right.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
He was a guy that was a couple of three
years ahead of me at school. I didn't know him
very well, but knew him well enough to say hello.
Lovely fellow, actually. And he said, oh, God, I haven't
seen you for 30 years.

Speaker 4 (04:35):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (04:35):
Wow, that's a. That is a long time, isn't it?
And he said, do you remember that? And I said, no,
not really. Now, then he went on to tell me
a story. Now, I was a little bit annoyed by it, actually,
because it doesn't sound anything like me, and I think
he's got me mixed up with somebody else, and you
guys can be the judge. So he says, at the time,
and this was literally 30 years ago, he was managing

(04:58):
a McDonald's on Lampton Quay.

Speaker 4 (05:01):
In Wellington. Lampton Quay down there in Wellington, yes.

Speaker 5 (05:03):
Right.

Speaker 3 (05:05):
And he was doing the late shift, and it's a
bit of a, it's an absolute filthy bastard of a McDonald's.

Speaker 5 (05:10):
Late at night it is, yeah.

Speaker 4 (05:12):
Absolutely disgusting.

Speaker 3 (05:14):
Anyway, he was the manager there, he said, and he said,
I came in, it's about two or three o'clock in
the morning.

Speaker 6 (05:20):
Okay, yeah, I see where this is going.

Speaker 4 (05:23):
And I get served by a young fella there, and.

Speaker 3 (05:28):
According to this guy that I know, he said that
he was standing out the back as the manager, and
he was sort of dealing with a few things back there,
and they've got a different coloured shirt, don't they? The
manager shirt, yeah. Yeah, the manager shirt. The much-coveted manager shirt.
And I said really loudly to the guy that was working,
is that John Smith out there? Let's say his name's

(05:50):
John Smith. I say, is that John Smith out there?
And this young fella goes, yeah, yeah, it is. Now,
at that point, John Smith turns around and looks and
sees it's me.

Speaker 6 (05:59):
Right.

Speaker 4 (05:59):
So I say, is that John Smith? The young fella goes, yeah,
it is. And I say... He says, I say, has
he ever told you what he used to do with sheep? Right.

Speaker 3 (06:12):
And apparently this guy took it really seriously, this young
fella there.

Speaker 4 (06:17):
On the till. On the till there.

Speaker 3 (06:20):
And it led to him eventually, my mate, having to
exit the job.

Speaker 5 (06:26):
He had to quit because of.

Speaker 4 (06:27):
Well, because word got around, you see.

Speaker 5 (06:29):
Yes.

Speaker 4 (06:29):
About him with the sheep.

Speaker 5 (06:31):
Now.

Speaker 2 (06:33):
Are you asking us here, Mogi, does this sound like you?

Speaker 3 (06:39):
Now, let me say that this is, without a word
of a lie, this is, according to him, a true story.

Speaker 4 (06:44):
Right.

Speaker 5 (06:46):
That's so good.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (06:49):
Well, I mean, you can't be doing that.

Speaker 6 (06:50):
No, it's shocking.

Speaker 5 (06:51):
You know what I mean?

Speaker 4 (06:52):
It's disgusting.

Speaker 6 (06:53):
Oh, John Smith.

Speaker 7 (06:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (06:54):
Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 4 (06:55):
Well, this is the thing. It's a shocking bit.

Speaker 6 (06:57):
Well, that's right. I mean, absolutely.

Speaker 5 (07:01):
That's so great. What was his name?

Speaker 4 (07:03):
John Smith. Oh, John Smith.

Speaker 6 (07:05):
Disgusting. He was saying.

Speaker 5 (07:06):
What was he saying?

Speaker 2 (07:09):
He was saying that he lives with his mum in
Huntly now, doesn't he?

Speaker 4 (07:14):
He's got a quarter-acre block with a couple of sheep.

Speaker 7 (07:19):
Oh, g'day, Matt.

Speaker 6 (07:20):
Oh, hi, Mo.

Speaker 4 (07:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (08:13):
Hello.

Speaker 5 (08:14):
Anonymous here.

Speaker 4 (08:14):
G'day there.

Speaker 6 (08:15):
Hello.

Speaker 4 (08:16):
Have they said all that? Nah.

Speaker 5 (08:17):
It just says g'day, fellas.

Speaker 4 (08:18):
Oh, yeah. That's better.

Speaker 5 (08:20):
We're a flat full of vapers who have recently been
trying to quit. However, there is nothing better than a
Friday night pint paired with a vape.

Speaker 4 (08:28):
There is.

Speaker 5 (08:29):
All washed down with some re-burger. Question for the team.
Experienced vape quitters, what are some of the top tips
to get off the nicotine?

Speaker 4 (08:38):
Cheers. Fellas.

Speaker 2 (08:40):
Well, I would say get off the vape and go
back to the ciggies for a start.

Speaker 5 (08:43):
I don't think we should encourage people to go.

Speaker 4 (08:46):
He's trying to get off the vape.

Speaker 6 (08:47):
He's trying to get off the vape here, Keezy.

Speaker 5 (08:49):
No, he said off the nick. The nicotine in general.

Speaker 4 (08:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (08:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (08:55):
I think you need to start by getting onto the darts.
Because once you're onto the darts, that sort of weans
you off the nicotine because you can't smoke in all
the places that you can vape.

Speaker 4 (09:05):
You just can't.

Speaker 5 (09:06):
Isn't that an interesting point?

Speaker 3 (09:08):
So immediately your intake is down, your costs are up,
so you can't afford it as much. So your overall
consumption is lower. And then you can wean off the darts,
which is, as I've found, an absolute piece of piss.

Speaker 4 (09:20):
Yeah, totally.

Speaker 5 (09:21):
Well, isn't the easiest way to wean off the darts
to get on the vape, though?

Speaker 4 (09:24):
Oh, absolutely. Well, that'll be the next step. Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 6 (09:27):
That'll be after that, though, Kesey.

Speaker 2 (09:29):
Just a little tip on that front, by the way,
is when you're smoking the darts and you're keen to
get off the nick, as he put.

Speaker 6 (09:36):
It, Put the butts in your pockets and stuff.

Speaker 2 (09:39):
Yes. Just so, you know, you can just reek of
cigarette smoke the whole time. And eventually, you know, if
you chuck all your butts in there, the smell's going
to put.

Speaker 4 (09:49):
You off alone.

Speaker 5 (09:51):
I thought it was like, oh, that way you can
see how many you've had and it's a real reminder.

Speaker 4 (09:54):
You can also roll the butts up.

Speaker 6 (09:56):
Yeah, that's right.

Speaker 2 (09:57):
And, I mean, if you run out of darts, you
can just get the... tobacco out of the butts and
just do.

Speaker 6 (10:01):
Them in a rollie.

Speaker 4 (10:02):
Put them into rollie paper and then you're off to
the races.

Speaker 6 (10:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (10:05):
Yeah, right, okay. Jason and I have both done that
thousands of times.

Speaker 5 (10:09):
No, I know that.

Speaker 1 (10:10):
Yes.

Speaker 6 (10:10):
Yes, we have.

Speaker 5 (10:11):
My concern is that neither of you are ever fully
off the nicotine.

Speaker 4 (10:14):
I'm not on the nicotine.

Speaker 6 (10:16):
Can I just ask?

Speaker 2 (10:17):
I mean, am I the right person to ask on this?

Speaker 4 (10:19):
I don't know.

Speaker 5 (10:21):
I mean, it's an advice segment and you're a heavy
nicotine user.

Speaker 4 (10:23):
No, but he's saying how do you get off it.
He's the last person you should be asking.

Speaker 6 (10:27):
Thank you, Mogi.

Speaker 5 (10:27):
So if there's a question like, hey fellas, how do
I get on to the nicotine?

Speaker 4 (10:30):
And never get off it.

Speaker 6 (10:31):
Yeah, I'm your man.

Speaker 4 (10:32):
For 30, 40 years.

Speaker 6 (10:33):
I'm your man.

Speaker 2 (10:34):
Yes.

Speaker 5 (10:34):
So Mogi, you're off the nicotine.

Speaker 4 (10:36):
How long has it been for you? When was Sunday? Sunday.

Speaker 1 (10:42):
The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.

Speaker 2 (10:48):
We are there on the Hauraki Big Show this Thursday evening.

Speaker 3 (10:53):
Fellas, I've got my brother-in-law Luke is now staying with us.
He's moved back from Australia. Pleasure to have him.

Speaker 4 (11:01):
And it's good. He's holding me to a higher standard.
He started going to the gym at 6 o'clock in
the morning.

Speaker 1 (11:05):
Yes.

Speaker 3 (11:05):
So I've started getting up in the mornings. And went
outside the house today. and I just kept on walking, right,
to walk to the gym. And he's like, oh, we're
not driving.

Speaker 4 (11:13):
I was like, oh, damn it.

Speaker 3 (11:15):
I thought he was walking to the gym, so I
was going to walk to the gym. So I was like, no, man,
we'll walk. It was my plan the whole time. Walked
to the gym, and I've been walking around all day.
I just sort of feel like I've got a TV
show coming up at the end of the year, and
I can't be in the shape I'm in now for that.
And I think if you walk everywhere, then that's half
your work done for you.

Speaker 5 (11:36):
Well, that's the Hoide J method.

Speaker 4 (11:37):
That's the Hoide J method. Thank you, Chris.

Speaker 3 (11:40):
Anyway, I had a look after I'd done that walk
to the gym and home, and I was sitting at
around about 3,000 steps or something like that. And it
said it's better than your daily average, which is 272.

Speaker 1 (11:51):
What?

Speaker 6 (11:55):
Seriously?

Speaker 4 (11:55):
That's what it said. Wow. That can't be right.

Speaker 5 (11:58):
You're Pushbike Mogi, aren't you?

Speaker 3 (12:00):
I am Pushbike Mogi. Well, the trouble with Pushbike Mogi
is Pushbike Mogi doesn't count as a step. And nor
should it.

Speaker 4 (12:05):
But it counts.

Speaker 5 (12:06):
It knows you're cycling.

Speaker 3 (12:08):
Yeah, well, exactly. So it doesn't count as steps. It
calls me a cheat. But I was just wondering, what
sort of steps are you doing? Because that's a real concern.
And essentially what that's saying to me is I get up,
I go to the toilet, I go to the kitchen,
I get in the car.

Speaker 4 (12:23):
I get out of the car. I get in the car.
You know what I'm saying?

Speaker 6 (12:26):
It's not good.

Speaker 4 (12:26):
Today, for me, Mogi, 9,780 steps. Now, on Tuesday, 17,348.

Speaker 6 (12:28):
That's because I played golf with Keezy.

Speaker 5 (12:30):
Ah, yes.

Speaker 2 (12:30):
So yesterday I thought I'd have a quiet day on
the step front, and I ended up doing 10,811. Yeah, well,
today I'm on 10,949.

Speaker 6 (12:35):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (12:52):
And I've got to walk home after this.

Speaker 6 (12:54):
Yeah, so you'll be 12, 13. That's good, man.

Speaker 4 (12:56):
Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 3 (12:57):
You've got to keep it up. I think it's a
good way of doing it. If I can be doing
10,000 steps a day, 272, that's not enough. It says
here I'm on 47. Yeah, that's too high for you
because I've seen you and there's no way you've done 47.

Speaker 5 (13:10):
Well, I'm just trying to check because what did I do?
I got up, sort of just watched TV.

Speaker 3 (13:14):
You've got punks to carry you from your car into Reba.

Speaker 2 (13:18):
And you've got to stop getting a scooter from the
studio to your car park.

Speaker 6 (13:21):
I mean, it's 200 metres away, Keezy.

Speaker 5 (13:23):
Jase, it's not a scooter.

Speaker 3 (13:24):
Do you know what the problem I think today, the
reason why you've done 47 is you've got your brand
new clompers on.

Speaker 5 (13:29):
My Doc Martens.

Speaker 4 (13:30):
Yeah, you're going to find it hard to sort of
drag those bastards around.

Speaker 5 (13:33):
Yeah, I'm actually worried. Actually, I might get pugs to
wheel me to the car park tonight.

Speaker 2 (13:37):
I tell you what, if you keep up wearing those shoes, seriously,
you are going to have massive thighs by summer.

Speaker 5 (13:44):
Yeah, well, that sounds great to me.

Speaker 6 (13:45):
Yeah, totally, man.

Speaker 5 (13:46):
So 47, I'll probably get that down to about 30.

Speaker 4 (13:48):
All right. Well, we might start doing daily check-ins.

Speaker 6 (13:51):
Sure.

Speaker 4 (13:51):
All right. It's not a competition.

Speaker 6 (13:53):
I think my average that I worked out was something like.

Speaker 4 (13:56):
You worked it out.

Speaker 2 (13:57):
Well, no, it tells you your weekly average was pretty
much 10,000.

Speaker 4 (14:01):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (14:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (14:02):
What a legend.

Speaker 6 (14:02):
All right.

Speaker 5 (14:04):
What an alpha dog.

Speaker 4 (14:05):
Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 6 (14:06):
But that's, you know, that's sedate hoity-jay walking.

Speaker 4 (14:09):
I think mine was about, mine was 12,000.

Speaker 6 (14:11):
Oh, hang on, I'll just check. Oh, no, mine was
14 and a half.

Speaker 4 (14:16):
Oh, hang on a minute.

Speaker 5 (14:17):
Mine's dropped to 35.

Speaker 1 (14:18):
