The Hodaki Big Show.
Speaker 2 (00:02):
Thanks to Craveworthy Street Food.
Speaker 3 (00:05):
Freshly made with Reburger.
Speaker 4 (00:07):
Welcome to The Hodaki Big Show.
Speaker 3 (00:12):
Really big. With Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Keezy. The
Hodaki Big Show. Oh, g'day, you mad boss. It's great
to have your company on this glorious Wednesday afternoon. It
is the 2nd of September, 2026. And you, my friends,
as always, listening to The Big Show, brought to you
by Reburger.
Speaker 1 (00:31):
Beef, chicken, vegan and vegetarian options. Reburger are redefining the norm.
Speaker 3 (00:35):
The name's burger. Dish, dish, dish. Reburger. You're looking very
handsome today, Moggy.
Speaker 4 (00:48):
Thanks, mate. You're not looking too bad to yourself there.
Speaker 3 (00:51):
Yeah, thanks, mate. I've gone back to my little hoodie there.
Speaker 4 (00:53):
You've got a black cap on, Reburger cap.
Speaker 3 (00:56):
Yes, I've got it back, man. It's back.
Speaker 4 (00:57):
You've got a huge story about that that you should tell.
You're wearing a hoodie and then you've got a jacket
over the top of it. You like your black, don't you?
Is that your favourite lack of colour?
Speaker 3 (01:08):
It's not really even a choice. It's the clothes that
I like to wear just happen to be black.
Speaker 5 (01:12):
Slimming.
Speaker 4 (01:13):
Yeah, slimming.
Speaker 5 (01:14):
Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:15):
Do you like what he's wearing there, Keezy?
Speaker 1 (01:17):
Yeah, yeah, I love it.
Speaker 4 (01:18):
It's great.
Speaker 3 (01:20):
What's that you got on, Keezy?
Speaker 1 (01:21):
Just a jacket and a T-shirt. G'day, fellas. How you going?
Speaker 3 (01:24):
Yeah, good, mate, good.
Speaker 1 (01:25):
Feeling pretty good hump day?
Speaker 4 (01:26):
Hump it up. Yeah, man.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
God, but I tell you what. Today's show, jam-packed full
of good stuff. We're filling good stuff today, Fiona.
Speaker 4 (01:33):
Absolutely, we do.
Speaker 3 (01:34):
Massive.
Speaker 4 (01:35):
Massive.
Speaker 1 (01:36):
How are you, though, Jase? You all G-men? You all good, mate?
Speaker 3 (01:38):
I'm really good.
Speaker 4 (01:39):
Now, I know you guys went out and played golf today.
You both had a shocker and sort of that sort of,
you've come in here and you're real down in the mouth.
Not at all. A couple of sad sacks, a couple
of shocking bastards.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
But what I am is very physically sore.
Speaker 4 (01:53):
Oh, yes.
Speaker 3 (01:53):
Yeah, I'm a bit achy. It's a hell of a course,
that one, so I'm feeling a bit... 16,000 steps today, Mogi.
Speaker 1 (02:00):
Whoa.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
Most of it uphill.
Speaker 4 (02:02):
How many steps did you do, Keezy?
Speaker 1 (02:04):
I was in a cart.
Speaker 3 (02:05):
You were with him.
Speaker 5 (02:06):
Yeah, right. He was with me.
Speaker 1 (02:07):
I think 50.
Speaker 3 (02:08):
Yeah, we went through his steps. He's done 180 steps
to my 16,000. Yeah, because I had a cart, though.
Speaker 4 (02:16):
Yeah, good.
Speaker 1 (02:16):
Yeah, I can hit it without hopping out of the cart. Yeah,
like polo, golf polo.
Speaker 4 (02:20):
100%.
Speaker 3 (02:21):
Nice, man.
Speaker 1 (02:22):
So good.
Speaker 3 (02:26):
What's happening on The Big Show with Old Moges.
Speaker 4 (02:29):
Hey, another opportunity to get yourself in the draw for
Would You Rather. Listen out for the cue to call.
Give us a buzz and you can tell us what
you'd rather do. Go to the footy final in Sydney
or attend the great race at Mount Panorama. Hoity J,
what would you do, man?
Speaker 3 (02:44):
That's a tough one.
Speaker 4 (02:45):
Okay, come back to us later and we'll tell you
what Hoity J's decided there. Also, there's three certainties in life,
isn't there? There's death, taxes, and Keezy needing to make
an apology for another shocker. We'll get into that later
in the show, Keezy. What have you done, man? Yeah,
come on. I don't know, man.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
It's not that bad, man.
Speaker 4 (03:01):
It's chill, man.
Speaker 3 (03:02):
Unbelievable.
Speaker 4 (03:03):
But coming up next, Jase's filthy mind. Jase's shocking, filthy,
bastard mind. Well, I mean... He's been keeping them up
at night.
Speaker 3 (03:14):
Has been, actually, last night, for sure. But we'll get
into that in a moment.
Speaker 4 (03:18):
But.
Speaker 3 (03:19):
In the meantime, here's Stone Temple Pilot.
Speaker 2 (03:22):
The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
Speaker 3 (03:26):
Yes, indeed. Papa Roach there on the Hauraki Big Show.
This Wednesday afternoon, the time is 12 minutes past 4 o'clock. And, fellas,
I'm fuming. We were talking a little yesterday about how
we've been having shocking sleeps.
Speaker 5 (03:42):
I haven't.
Speaker 3 (03:45):
And not only... Did I have a shocking sleep last night?
Speaker 4 (03:51):
Yes.
Speaker 3 (03:51):
I was also interrupted mid-erotic dream. Ooh. It was 3
o'clock in the morning.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
Right.
Speaker 3 (04:02):
And I was having this dream, and then in the midst.
Speaker 4 (04:06):
Of this dream, there was this- What was the dream about?
Speaker 3 (04:10):
Well, I don't want to get into the- massive details
about the dream.
Speaker 4 (04:14):
Just a taste. Give me a taste.
Speaker 1 (04:15):
Just a little bit.
Speaker 3 (04:16):
Well, I don't think that the actual erotic dream.
Speaker 1 (04:19):
Were you in it?
Speaker 3 (04:20):
Yeah, I was in it, obviously.
Speaker 1 (04:22):
Who else was there? Was it Hoity J's eye view?
Speaker 3 (04:26):
Yes, it was my view.
Speaker 4 (04:27):
Okay, great. So you couldn't see you in the dream?
Speaker 3 (04:29):
No, you couldn't see me. I was behind the screen,
as it were.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
Who was it?
Speaker 3 (04:35):
Well, as I say, the actual dream itself, like I
got home and Pugs was in my apartment. He was
totally naked on the couch. I was like, bloody hell,
what are you doing, Pugs?
Speaker 5 (04:51):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (04:52):
And he was like, oh, watching Dog Squad? Yeah.
Speaker 4 (04:54):
And I was like, oh. That's how all my erotic
dreams start as well. That's a bit weird.
Speaker 1 (04:59):
Same, but mine's Border Patrol.
Speaker 3 (05:00):
I was at Border Patrol, and I was like, oh. But,
you know, I was obviously pretty moved by that. But anyway,
so there was this cacophony of noise in the middle
of my dream, and I've never had a– I've never
been aware of having a dream and it being disturbed
from almost like an outside force, you know what I mean?
Speaker 1 (05:18):
And was Pugs the only one– Well, I.
Speaker 3 (05:23):
Mean, no, he wasn't, but he was just naked on
the couch.
Speaker 1 (05:26):
But then who, was there someone else there as well,
or was it just Pugs?
Speaker 3 (05:28):
Well, this is a weird thing, because normally when I
get home, I go and put my uggies on.
Speaker 1 (05:32):
Your ugg boots?
Speaker 3 (05:33):
Yeah, yeah. And in my dream, I was like, oh, God,
Pugs is naked, and what's going on there? And he's
watching Dog Squad. And I go into my bedroom where
my uggies are, and there's old bloody Keezy, butt naked.
Speaker 5 (05:49):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (05:50):
Yeah. But for a diamante G string. And I'm like,
you know when you're sort of in a dream and
you go, hang on, is that, is that Keezy?
Speaker 1 (05:59):
Am I on your bed?
Speaker 3 (06:01):
No, you're not on my bed. You had your hands
on the carpet. Right. And you were just wearing this diamante.
Speaker 1 (06:08):
I was on all fours.
Speaker 3 (06:09):
And you're on all fours, just sort of looking over
your shoulder.
Speaker 1 (06:12):
That sounds right. Are you sure that was a dream?
This is where it.
Speaker 3 (06:17):
Started to merge between dream and reality, you know?
Speaker 1 (06:20):
But I wasn't at yours last night. It must have
been a dream.
Speaker 3 (06:23):
You weren't?
Speaker 1 (06:24):
No, Pucks hates Dog Squad.
Speaker 3 (06:26):
And I was like, what are you doing, Keezy? And
he was like, not much.
Speaker 5 (06:29):
You?
Speaker 3 (06:32):
But anyway, so I'm having this dream, and I am
being affected by the fact that the fellas are all
naked there. But then I get interrupted in my dream.
Speaker 1 (06:42):
Hang on, was Mogi there?
Speaker 2 (06:43):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (06:46):
Well, as I say, I don't want to get bogged
down into the eroticism of the tree.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
But you've got me, you've got Pug. Surely Mogi was there.
Speaker 3 (06:52):
Well, the funny thing was, so I'm staring at old
Keezy's butt, and I'm going, God. You know why you're
wearing a Timu Daimonte thing, a G-string?
Speaker 1 (07:04):
Was it from Timu?
Speaker 4 (07:05):
Because he's a sick bastard.
Speaker 3 (07:06):
Well, because it came up in my feed yesterday.
Speaker 5 (07:08):
Oh.
Speaker 3 (07:09):
It was a Timu daimonte. So I think that's why
you were wearing it. But anyway, I went to put
my uggies on. I was like, who's in the shower?
Speaker 1 (07:19):
Who was it?
Speaker 3 (07:20):
And I was like, oh, what the hell's going on?
So go into the shower. There's old Mogi sudded up. Yeah.
You know, he's got like soap suds all over his buzzies. Wow.
Sort of collecting in his pubis. And I'm like, what
are you doing, Maggie? And he was like, just cleaning, man.
Speaker 5 (07:42):
And I was like, God.
Speaker 4 (07:44):
So nothing sexual about it.
Speaker 3 (07:46):
Oh, I think that was probably the most sexual part
of my dream. And I was, you know, I was
getting into it by then. You know what I mean?
Speaker 1 (07:53):
What were you doing? You say you're getting into it.
Speaker 3 (07:55):
What were you doing? I'm not going to get into
the details of what I was doing. But you know
what I mean? I may or may not have hopped
in the shower with Maggie.
Speaker 4 (08:02):
Well, you would need to because it sounds like you
have been a dirty little fella.
Speaker 5 (08:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (08:06):
Well, actually.
Speaker 4 (08:07):
You need a good wash.
Speaker 3 (08:08):
You've just jogged my memory. That's what you said to me. God,
you dirty little bastard. You'd better jump in here. Oh,
hang on, Keezy. You haven't got to the point in
my dream yet.
Speaker 1 (08:18):
We don't have time, man. You've got to play the
White Stripes.
Speaker 5 (08:20):
Oh.
Speaker 1 (08:21):
You got interrupted, right?
Speaker 3 (08:22):
By a gang of you.
Speaker 1 (08:23):
We don't have time.
Speaker 4 (08:24):
We don't have time.
Speaker 1 (08:24):
Here's the White Stripes.
Speaker 2 (08:28):
The Hodaki Beat Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune
in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki. One simple question.
One weekend of a lifetime.
Speaker 4 (08:39):
Would you rather?
Speaker 3 (08:41):
Yes, indeed. Would you rather Bathurst and or the NRL
Grand Final?
Speaker 1 (08:47):
Just to correct you there, it's not and or.
Speaker 4 (08:49):
You can't do both.
Speaker 3 (08:50):
Or the Grand Final or Bathurst.
Speaker 2 (08:54):
And?
Speaker 1 (08:56):
Would you rather Bathurst and the Grand Final?
Speaker 5 (08:59):
Yes.
Speaker 1 (09:00):
Yeah, see that one.
Speaker 4 (09:01):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (09:01):
And then all of a sudden, you know, we're giving
away two chips.
Speaker 4 (09:03):
Yeah, well, certainly when it comes to the prizes, we
don't want to be making false promises, Keezy. Yeah, totally.
Speaker 3 (09:08):
Totally. Totally, we don't want to be doing that.
Speaker 1 (09:10):
They're only saying that people can win something that they can't.
Speaker 3 (09:12):
Can't win, yeah, that would be correct, fellas.
Speaker 4 (09:14):
That's never been on the table.
Speaker 3 (09:15):
That would be ridiculous.
Speaker 1 (09:17):
That would be like saying, oh, we've got $ 8 million
to give away, a guy in the urinal told me,
and then it doesn't even happen.
Speaker 3 (09:22):
I mean, that would be career ending. Would it? Yeah, totally, man.
Speaker 4 (09:25):
Shocking bastard stuff.
Speaker 3 (09:27):
But let's go to the phone lines. G'day, James, you
mad bastard. How's life?
Speaker 5 (09:32):
G'day, fellas.
Speaker 3 (09:33):
Very good, mate.
Speaker 5 (09:34):
How are you going?
Speaker 3 (09:35):
Oh, thanks, man.
Speaker 5 (09:36):
Good.
Speaker 3 (09:36):
Thank you for asking, James. James, what do you do
for a crust?
Speaker 5 (09:42):
Yeah, well, I've changed jobs.
Speaker 3 (09:43):
I'm actually a loader driver at a rescue station now. Ah,
backbone show.
Speaker 4 (09:48):
How good. Is that fun, man, just going around just
dumping crap all over the place? You know what?
Speaker 5 (09:55):
It's better than dropping steamers, I tell you.
Speaker 3 (09:57):
Yeah. I don't know, man.
Speaker 1 (09:58):
Have you ever dropped a steamer? mid-Secret Santa, James? What
was that, though, mate? Don't worry about it. Hey, what
would you rather, man, Beth, this or the NRL Grand Final?
Speaker 4 (10:10):
Oh, that's a silly question.
Speaker 5 (10:11):
It's the NRL Grand Final all day.
Speaker 4 (10:13):
Yeah, good on you. Come on, Keezy, man.
Speaker 1 (10:15):
Why did you even ask him that, Keezy? I don't
know what he's into, man. What a silly question. Hey, James,
who would you take with you if you.
Speaker 4 (10:23):
Won, mate?
Speaker 1 (10:25):
I'd take my mate Marty. He actually took me to
the Tigers a couple of years ago free of charge,
so I guess I'd better repay the favour.
Speaker 4 (10:31):
Why should you repay him for taking you along to
see those hopeless mongrels?
Speaker 2 (10:35):
I mean, we were playing them to be fair.
Speaker 5 (10:38):
Oh, yeah.
Speaker 4 (10:38):
Backbone, backbone.
Speaker 3 (10:40):
Good on you, James. You're in the draw. Puck Sam
will sort you out. Let's go to that mad bastard Gibbo. G'day, Gibbo.
How's life?
Speaker 4 (10:49):
Hey, not bad, horse. What about you?
Speaker 3 (10:51):
Horse?
Speaker 4 (10:52):
Yeah, mate.
Speaker 3 (10:53):
I like it.
Speaker 1 (10:54):
Hey, Gibbo, where are you calling from today, man?
Speaker 4 (10:57):
I'm up in Fungus, mate. Oh, yeah, man.
Speaker 3 (11:00):
Beautiful day out there, is it, mate?
Speaker 4 (11:02):
Oh, there's not a cloud in the sky, mate.
Speaker 5 (11:05):
Palm trees are blowing gently in the breeze.
Speaker 3 (11:08):
Tell me, Gibbo, what do you do for a crust?
Speaker 4 (11:11):
I run a machinery business, mate. Oh, yeah, backbone. Ah, backbone.
There's backbone.
Speaker 3 (11:15):
What kind of machinery are we talking here?
Speaker 1 (11:18):
Excavators, rollers.
Speaker 3 (11:21):
Oh, yeah, that's real backbone stuff.
Speaker 4 (11:22):
The whole works burger, mate.
Speaker 1 (11:23):
How good. Do you have a steamroller, Gibbo? No, no, no, no, no.
Speaker 5 (11:28):
I haven't got a steam one, mate.
Speaker 1 (11:29):
I haven't got a steam one. Okay, just a motorised one. Yeah, nah,
fair enough.
Speaker 4 (11:32):
Oh, gee.
Speaker 3 (11:32):
Now, can I guess what Gibbo's going to pick here?
Speaker 1 (11:36):
Go for it.
Speaker 3 (11:36):
I reckon he's going to go Bathurst. Gabbo?
Speaker 1 (11:41):
Mate, I tell you what, when you're looking at a
bus ride, three hours either side of six hours racing,
that's value, isn't it?
Speaker 4 (11:47):
Yeah, mate.
Speaker 1 (11:47):
100%, man.
Speaker 4 (11:48):
That's it. This guy gets it. This guy gets it.
There you go.
Speaker 1 (11:52):
So which one are you locking in, Gabbo? Bathurst? Is
the 8mm still on the table? The 8mm? No, it's not, mate. Sorry,
that's just been taken out. Sorry about that.
Speaker 5 (12:02):
We'd better do Bathurst then.
Speaker 3 (12:04):
All right, mate.
Speaker 1 (12:05):
You're in the draw. Pugsnail will look after you. Gibbo, eh?
Mad bastard. Big shout out to boystrip.co.nz, sports travel made easy.
If you want to go to Bathurst or if you
want to go to the grand final, well, grand final,
to be honest, it's sold out.
Speaker 3 (12:17):
Yes.
Speaker 1 (12:17):
The boystrip packages, however, there are still some available for Bathurst.
Speaker 4 (12:20):
The boystrip packages have sold out and so has the
grand final, Keezy, itself. The whole thing has sold out
weeks and weeks and weeks ago. It feels like we're
on track for something special here, fellas. It really does.
This is a hot ticket here.
Speaker 3 (12:34):
I've got a feeling about this this year, fellas. I really,
really do.
Speaker 1 (12:41):
What happened with those dudes that were outside your window,
by the way? Oh, man.
Speaker 2 (12:47):
The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
Speaker 3 (12:53):
Yes indeed, REM there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show
this Wednesday afternoon. The time is 4.53. Let's talk TV.
What's on the telly with Mike Minogue.
Speaker 4 (13:09):
Yeah!
Speaker 3 (13:10):
That's right.
Speaker 1 (13:12):
Hey fellas, today I went along to a special screening.
Speaker 4 (13:15):
It was very special.
Speaker 3 (13:15):
All right.
Speaker 1 (13:18):
The film is called Heart of the Beast.
Speaker 4 (13:21):
Okay. Starring Brad Pitt. Oh, yeah.
Speaker 3 (13:24):
Now you're talking.
Speaker 1 (13:25):
Oh, is that the one where he's in the forest
with a dog?
Speaker 4 (13:27):
That's right. I'll give you the rundown here. After surviving
a plane crash, a former Special Forces soldier finds himself
trapped in the unforgiving Alaskan wilderness with his combat dog.
Speaker 1 (13:37):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (13:38):
Together they battle the elements and other animals in a
harsh landscape that would likely kill any other man or dog.
I don't think they've nailed that synopsis. that last line
there but very limited cast it's got your Brad Pitt
in it JK Simmons and a dog filmed in New
Zealand last year I'm surprised how quickly this has come
out because it was only filmed last year David Eyre
(13:59):
is the director he's really good he directed Fury amongst
other things maybe a Suicide Squad as well and god
it's possibly the best advertisement for New Zealand in a
film since Lord of the Rings absolutely stunning and nothing
like the beauty of Brad Pitt up against the beauty
of New Zealand.
Speaker 1 (14:20):
Yes. The two just go hand in hand. Absolutely stunning.
Speaker 4 (14:24):
It's an hour and 40 minutes long, which is an
instant five buzzies out of five buzzies for old Mogi.
I hate a long movie. I can't tell you what
I thought of the movie. I'm not allowed to give
it a review because there's an embargo on it. Yeah.
But I'll tell you this, I'll be going again, fellas.
Speaker 3 (14:37):
Do you know, I... I often wonder if cameramen, you know,
from outside of New Zealand come to New Zealand and
just go, yeah, boy.
Speaker 2 (14:44):
Oh, yeah.
Speaker 3 (14:44):
You know what I mean? It's like a dream kind
of set up.
Speaker 4 (14:48):
It is.
Speaker 3 (14:48):
For, you know, your cameraman, Keezy.
Speaker 1 (14:51):
What about camera women?
Speaker 3 (14:52):
Or women, yes, indeed. I don't know if you know,
this is a very, very attractive and highly photographic country
we live in.
Speaker 1 (15:01):
Yes. New Zealand.
Speaker 3 (15:02):
New Zealand. Yeah, very nice.
Speaker 4 (15:04):
I'll look into it. This movie is out on the
24th of September. I can't go into details, as I said,
but I recommend you go.
Speaker 3 (15:10):
Fellas, I watched Pat last night. And by that, I
mean just, you know, it was something to do with,
you know, family members killing each other. But it was,
you know, it was like.
Speaker 1 (15:22):
Like a crime docker.
Speaker 3 (15:23):
Yeah, it was like a series, actually.
Speaker 5 (15:25):
Yeah, right.
Speaker 3 (15:26):
And people are just dumb. Is that it? Yeah, that
was it, man.
Speaker 1 (15:29):
How many buzzies?
Speaker 4 (15:30):
Um.
Speaker 3 (15:32):
One buzzy.
Speaker 1 (15:32):
Out of five.
Speaker 3 (15:33):
Out of five buzzies.
Speaker 5 (15:34):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (15:35):
It was lazy because we just went, oh, I don't know, man.
We'll just go with this crap. You know what I mean?
You know what I mean?
Speaker 2 (15:39):
Easy.
Speaker 3 (15:39):
I feel you, dog. I feel you.
Speaker 1 (15:41):
Last night we watched the second to last episode ever
of Colin from Accounts, which is an Australian comedy. It's
on TVNZ Plus. Three seasons. Bloody good. My wife has
done the thing when she likes a TV show of
following the main cast members on Instagram.
Speaker 3 (15:56):
Right.
Speaker 1 (15:56):
Sure. doing a deep dive into that and then because
his husband and wife wrote the show and they play
the two main characters and then they also take turns
at writing each episode so one's written and I can
tell because one episode is written in a particular flavour
and then the next episode is very different and they're
all great it's very interesting and then she watched a
behind the scenes interview with the cast because there's only
(16:17):
one episode left to go and the question to them
was like if it made you filthy rich would you
make a fourth season and they both said no yeah
yeah we'll see But they're just like, we're done with this.
The expectation and the amount of time it takes for
you as a couple to work on and organise every
facet of this TV show and get it all out
(16:37):
and be the main characters. Well, what else are they doing?
It would be all-consuming.
Speaker 3 (16:42):
Can you imagine the fights they had?
Speaker 1 (16:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (16:46):
They would have had full-on fights.
Speaker 4 (16:50):
Creative disagreements.
Speaker 3 (16:51):
Well, imagine if your partner wrote a terrible episode. What
do you do then?
Speaker 1 (16:56):
That's a shocker. They're all pretty good. But Patrick Bremel,
I think his name is, he was in The Devil
Wears Prada 2. Oh, yes. As her love interest.
Speaker 3 (17:06):
Yes.
Speaker 1 (17:06):
And got slammed by critics. Anne Hathaway's love interest. He
got slammed by critics today. Yeah, they just said he
was like a nothing character. And then he went on
Instagram and was like, oh, they cut literally everything out
of the movie that I was in.
Speaker 4 (17:16):
Yeah, yeah, right. Because he was so terrible.
Speaker 1 (17:17):
Because he was, yeah. But he's actually super funny.
Speaker 4 (17:20):
He is, he's great.
Speaker 1 (17:21):
Such a great actor.
Speaker 4 (17:21):
Great, it's a good show.
Speaker 1 (17:22):
Colin from Accounts, TVNZ Plus. Give the whole thing a
4.2 buzzies out of 5.
Speaker 3 (17:27):
Yeah, great stuff.
Speaker 1 (17:28):
Hey, after five, fellas, we've got two of the leads
from Cirque du Soleil, Alice, coming in.
Speaker 3 (17:32):
Oh, how good.
Speaker 1 (17:33):
Alice in Wonderland and the Mad Hatter as well. Plus,
I've got some questions now that I'm a full-blown actor.
Speaker 3 (17:39):
Sure, man, sure.
Speaker 2 (17:43):
The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
Speaker 3 (17:48):
Welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope your Wednesday is absolutely
going off. You're listening to The Big Show, incidentally, brought
to you by Reburger.
Speaker 1 (17:57):
Craveworthy street food freshly made with Reburger.
Speaker 4 (17:59):
Yum.
Speaker 3 (18:01):
Yeah, yum.
Speaker 1 (18:02):
Fun fact about Reburger, when you go into a Reburger store,
all the employees there are wearing hats.
Speaker 4 (18:08):
That's true.
Speaker 1 (18:09):
Well, they're not employees, they're family, aren't they?
Speaker 4 (18:11):
No.
Speaker 1 (18:12):
And the hats, you'll notice, have got the Reburger logo,
but it used to be red and yellow, and now
it's black.
Speaker 3 (18:18):
Yes.
Speaker 1 (18:19):
Why is that, Jase?
Speaker 3 (18:21):
Well, you'll recall, fellas, there was a brief time when
Reburger weren't sponsoring us anymore, but I love their cap.
But I didn't want to be a sort of walking
advertisement for them because they were no longer our sponsor.
So I went, I love the hat and it fits
me so well. So what I'm going to do is
(18:41):
I'm going to black out the Reburgers symbol there so
you can't really see it. I did it with a
vivid marker.
Speaker 1 (18:48):
And can I just say, you couldn't see anything.
Speaker 3 (18:50):
You just couldn't see anything.
Speaker 4 (18:51):
Oh, it was amazing.
Speaker 3 (18:52):
Then Keezy and I were down in Dunedin, Mogi. I
don't know where you were.
Speaker 1 (18:55):
I was doing a little bit of work. I was
also down there, but I was doing a bit of work.
Speaker 3 (18:58):
Oh, that's right, yes.
Speaker 5 (18:59):
Yes.
Speaker 3 (19:00):
Doing a live show, and we were having a chat
to the fellas from Reburger. And one of them looked
at my hat and they went, Boris, and he went, oh,
is that a Reburger hat? And I said, yeah, man.
And he said, I really like it. And he noticed
that I'd coloured it all in black. So you'll notice
now the new Reburger hat is... has a black instead
(19:22):
of the yellow and orange and whatever it was. It's
just black now. Yes. Because Hoity J blacked it out
all that year, about a year ago, and they went,
that's cool, we're doing that.
Speaker 4 (19:32):
And you had to sit down, didn't you, with Vivid
and colour in every single one of them.
Speaker 3 (19:36):
Yes, I did.
Speaker 4 (19:37):
Unbelievable. That's a big job, man.
Speaker 1 (19:38):
Oh, man.
Speaker 4 (19:39):
But such is your commitment to the Reburg.
Speaker 3 (19:41):
It just kept running out all the time, the bloody Vivid,
you know what I mean?
Speaker 4 (19:44):
They do.
Speaker 3 (19:45):
Really annoyed me.
Speaker 1 (19:46):
It was like the box for like 500 hats, wasn't it?
Speaker 3 (19:48):
Yeah, I know.
Speaker 1 (19:49):
Far out. Did they pay you?
Speaker 3 (19:51):
Well, yes, they gave me a hat.
Speaker 1 (19:54):
That's pretty good.
Speaker 3 (19:55):
Yeah, I reckon. It's Arctic Monkeys.
Speaker 2 (19:58):
The Hodaki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hodaki.
Speaker 4 (20:02):
Yes, indeed.
Speaker 3 (20:03):
She Hard there on the Radio Hodaki Big Show this
Wednesday afternoon. The time is 13 minutes past 5 o'clock.
Speaker 1 (20:11):
Fellas, I've been talking. Over the past week about an
audition I had recently for an ad.
Speaker 3 (20:16):
Yes.
Speaker 1 (20:18):
Went really well. Well, I mean, I assume it did
because I got a callback.
Speaker 3 (20:23):
Yeah, man.
Speaker 1 (20:23):
Which is where you sort of get shortlisted and you
come back and do it again, but with a funny
wig on this time.
Speaker 3 (20:28):
Yes.
Speaker 1 (20:29):
Which is what happened. Yeah. And also there's a man
in the room with a camera.
Speaker 4 (20:34):
Camera man.
Speaker 1 (20:35):
Camera man.
Speaker 4 (20:35):
Or a person.
Speaker 1 (20:36):
Yeah, but this was a man.
Speaker 4 (20:37):
Or a woman.
Speaker 1 (20:37):
This is a man. and then the director was on
Zoom or Skype or whatever it's called on the computer
looking at me and giving me directions. I then today
got a criminal check, a criminal background check, and I
was like, well, that's got to be a good sign.
Speaker 3 (20:53):
Sure.
Speaker 4 (20:54):
Well, for people who don't know, you go and do
these auditions and things, and if they want you, they
then do a criminal check because they don't want you
getting on air and then somebody complaining because you've got X, Y,
and Z.
Speaker 3 (21:05):
Convictions.
Speaker 4 (21:05):
Convictions. Often the most specific ones is you don't want
someone doing, say, a drink driving ad who's got multiple
convictions for drink driving.
Speaker 1 (21:13):
Yes. Makes sense.
Speaker 4 (21:14):
I get it.
Speaker 1 (21:15):
So obviously that was sweet as clean as a whistle
old Keezy. But I was just wondering because– Skeletons in
the closet there.
Speaker 5 (21:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (21:23):
Holy heck.
Speaker 1 (21:24):
I mean, I did a test and it was fine.
But I guess the reason I want to talk to
you guys is obviously– I mean, this is like my
fourth audition– And it's quite clear that I'm going to
bag this thing. You know what I mean?
Speaker 3 (21:36):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (21:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (21:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (21:38):
I was just wondering, like now that I am kind
of an actor. You know, should I, do I, for example,
this is just random, like, do I make my own
IMDB web page?
Speaker 4 (21:50):
Right.
Speaker 1 (21:50):
So, you know, the online movie database, whatever it's called,
so that whenever you search an actor, I come up
because I'm now an actor.
Speaker 4 (21:57):
Like, did you make your own ones? You should have
yours set up now. You know, four auditions in the
last couple of years. Yeah, okay. Turn down a few.
One callback.
Speaker 1 (22:09):
One callback.
Speaker 3 (22:09):
Yeah, that's good, man. That's a pretty good strike rate.
Speaker 1 (22:11):
One out of four.
Speaker 3 (22:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (22:13):
25% hit rate. Should I put, like, the TV shows,
non-acting TV shows I was part of?
Speaker 4 (22:19):
I wouldn't mention the Dicks.
Speaker 3 (22:20):
Yeah, I wouldn't do the shows you've done.
Speaker 4 (22:22):
Or the League Lounge.
Speaker 3 (22:23):
Yeah, just leave those.
Speaker 1 (22:24):
So none of the ones that were cancelled?
Speaker 3 (22:26):
No, no, don't put that out there.
Speaker 1 (22:28):
Okay, but okay.
Speaker 3 (22:28):
Good God, I mean, really, really, I'm telling you as
your agent, Don't do that.
Speaker 4 (22:34):
Right, okay.
Speaker 3 (22:35):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (22:35):
We don't have to be so intense about it.
Speaker 3 (22:39):
I want you to succeed, Keezy.
Speaker 4 (22:41):
Do you?
Speaker 3 (22:42):
Yeah, man.
Speaker 1 (22:42):
You don't want things to come screeching to a halt. No,
you're right, Mogi. It's all about keeping this good thing
going and also aiming high. I was wondering also, Mogi,
did you fill out your own application when you won
the Actor of the Year award? Or does someone else
do that for you? Just because I feel like I should– Chris,
I was so shocked and surprised. Generally, it's the producer
(23:06):
that will put you forward. Okay, so I should have
an accent.
Speaker 4 (23:09):
Yeah, so yeah.
Speaker 1 (23:10):
I'm not sure that there is a category for– For advertorials. Yeah,
what you're doing there.
Speaker 3 (23:18):
It might be sort of– yeah, nah.
Speaker 1 (23:21):
Well, if it's all right, Jason, I'll probably get this
from Mike just because he's won it.
Speaker 4 (23:24):
Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 3 (23:26):
I actually got– I actually won an award for my acting,
but I turned it down. Oh, yeah?
Speaker 4 (23:33):
What was the award?
Speaker 3 (23:36):
Best Male Lead.
Speaker 4 (23:38):
Right.
Speaker 1 (23:39):
Tell me this was outside of school.
Speaker 3 (23:41):
In a school production.
Speaker 1 (23:46):
Should I put actor in my Instagram bio?
Speaker 4 (23:48):
Wow. I'll just say that whenever you're coming into the
country or leaving the country, your occupation should now be actor.
Speaker 1 (23:56):
Oh, when I fill out the little declaration? Yeah, the
customs form.
Speaker 3 (24:00):
Yeah, actor.
Speaker 1 (24:01):
Oh, that sounds cool. Or is it thespian?
Speaker 4 (24:04):
Or pretender?
Speaker 3 (24:05):
Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (24:05):
Pretender, is that another name for it, is it?
Speaker 4 (24:07):
It's another name for what you do, yeah.
Speaker 2 (24:09):
The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
Speaker 3 (24:15):
Pearl Jam there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this
Wednesday evening. The time is 5.26. But listen up, New Zealand.
If you want to win yourself a double pass to
watch the Waz this weekend, give us a call right
now on 0800 Hauraki.
Speaker 1 (24:30):
That's right, they're playing Saturday evening, 5pm against the Manly
Seagulls at good old Mount Smart. Time to chat footy
with me, Keezy. What are the Warriors up to? It's
Waz Wednesday, fellas.
Speaker 5 (24:45):
Yeah, man.
Speaker 1 (24:46):
Which is when we get a double pass to give away,
which is bloody exciting. Last home game of the season. Well,
last regular season home game of the season, Mogi. And
there's a real risk to this game that you book
tickets and then the Waz name are pretty... you know,
B team to wrestle their main guys. But they're only
resting two chaps, really. Wade Egan and also Kurt Capewell.
Speaker 2 (25:05):
Yes.
Speaker 1 (25:06):
Both have had a long season. Both very experienced, very crucial. However,
I was listening to old Raylene Ramsey reading.
Speaker 4 (25:11):
The news there before.
Speaker 3 (25:12):
Raylene, she's a backbone.
Speaker 4 (25:14):
She is.
Speaker 1 (25:14):
And she was saying that Aaron Clark and James Fisher
Harris said no to resting. Yes. They were like, we're playing,
which I love. Isn't that just fantastic? Yeah, that's good.
Speaker 4 (25:25):
Yeah, and I think it's okay because they're going to
have a week off shortly anyway.
Speaker 3 (25:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (25:30):
So because we're finishing the top two, you get a
week off around the semi. So good on them. And
the other thing is I think it's really important, Keezy,
and you tell me, man, what you don't want to
do is bring in two halves that have been out
for three or four weeks due to injury and have
them come back in and put them in behind a
makeshift pack that is then going backwards during the game.
So they can't get their flow on. You need them
(25:51):
to get their mojo back. Yeah, they need to get
their feet under the desk now.
Speaker 1 (25:55):
Thank you.
Speaker 5 (25:56):
Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 3 (25:57):
Or their slippers under the bed.
Speaker 1 (25:59):
Yeah, that's a saying in league. And it's like, Jase,
for example, like if we had a really big week
of radio coming up, right?
Speaker 5 (26:05):
Yes.
Speaker 1 (26:06):
And the week before the bosses were like, hey, do
you want the week off?
Speaker 4 (26:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (26:09):
You know, going into this big week, we'd all say.
Speaker 4 (26:11):
No, right?
Speaker 3 (26:12):
No, totally, man. Totally. Not in your Nelly.
Speaker 1 (26:15):
Yeah, we'd do it, right?
Speaker 3 (26:16):
Yeah, I'd put my slippers under the bed, man.
Speaker 1 (26:19):
I don't know if that's a saying, Jase. G'day, Dylan.
How you going, man? Oh, g'day, Keezy.
Speaker 3 (26:24):
Good, mate.
Speaker 4 (26:24):
Good, good, good.
Speaker 3 (26:25):
Good on you, Dylan, you mad bastard. What do you
do for a crust, by the way?
Speaker 5 (26:29):
Ice cream, brother.
Speaker 3 (26:30):
Ice cream?
Speaker 1 (26:31):
Hey, back, mate. So you're making it? You're driving a truck?
What are you doing?
Speaker 5 (26:35):
Making it. Fully making it, man.
Speaker 4 (26:38):
Fully making it. So you're making it from scratch, man?
Are you out back milking the cow?
Speaker 5 (26:43):
From, what's it called?
Speaker 4 (26:44):
From cow to plate.
Speaker 1 (26:46):
From teat to plate.
Speaker 4 (26:47):
Oh, nice.
Speaker 3 (26:47):
How bloody good, mate. And obviously, Dylan, you're a massive
Waz fan. Oh, yeah, man.
Speaker 5 (26:53):
Went to high school with old Fisher Harris there.
Speaker 3 (26:56):
Oh, did you?
Speaker 4 (26:57):
Where was that exactly, mate?
Speaker 1 (26:59):
Oh, yeah, good, good, good.
Speaker 3 (27:01):
Tell me, Dylan, who are you going to take with you?
Speaker 5 (27:04):
Oh, I'll pick up my mate on the way and, yeah,
old Zane. We'll go up for the old game there, yeah.
Speaker 4 (27:10):
Old Zane, oh, he's a mad dog. Well, old James
Fisher Harris there, man. Would he remember you from school, man?
Were you guys pretty tight?
Speaker 5 (27:17):
Yeah, he was my bloody roommate at boarding school.
Speaker 4 (27:19):
Oh, there you go. How about that? Has he got
a bit of a sense of humour on him? You
don't see him laughing very much.
Speaker 5 (27:25):
Oh, he's a cracker.
Speaker 3 (27:26):
Is he?
Speaker 5 (27:27):
Yeah, okay.
Speaker 4 (27:28):
This guy gets it.
Speaker 1 (27:29):
Good on you, Diller.
Speaker 4 (27:30):
Oh, hell good.
Speaker 1 (27:31):
You hold the line, mate. Pugs will sort you out,
but have fun at the Waz on Saturday.
Speaker 3 (27:35):
You all right?
Speaker 5 (27:36):
Yeah, cheers, fellas. Thank you very much.
Speaker 3 (27:37):
No worries, mate.
Speaker 4 (27:38):
Good on you, man.
Speaker 3 (27:38):
Have a good one. Good. Hey, coming up next, by
the way, we're going to be speaking to the stars
of Cirque, Alice, Dizzy, and Layla.
Speaker 1 (27:47):
That's right. Cirque du Soleil, Alice in Wonderland, me and
Moggy went on Friday, and it was absolutely magnificent.
Speaker 4 (27:52):
We loved it.
Speaker 2 (27:55):
The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
Speaker 3 (28:01):
Welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope you're surviving your hump
day okay. You're listening to The Big Show, by the way,
brought to you by Reburger.
Speaker 1 (28:09):
Serving good times and good food. Dine in or take
away Reburger today.
Speaker 3 (28:13):
Reburger. Yeah, man.
Speaker 1 (28:16):
Yeah, man.
Speaker 4 (28:17):
Hey, Jase.
Speaker 1 (28:17):
Yeah, man. What are you having for dinner tonight, man?
Speaker 3 (28:20):
Reburger.
Speaker 4 (28:21):
Oh, here he is.
Speaker 1 (28:22):
Are you?
Speaker 4 (28:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (28:22):
You sure you're having Reburger?
Speaker 3 (28:24):
Yeah, totally.
Speaker 4 (28:25):
Totally.
Speaker 1 (28:25):
Really? Because a little birdie told me that you're getting
hot pot.
Speaker 3 (28:29):
No, no, no. You don't want to overdo that sort
of stuff. At heart, I'm a down-country kind of young... Oh,
not young, I suppose.
Speaker 1 (28:38):
No.
Speaker 3 (28:39):
Fjella. You know, I like my burgers. I love my chips.
And some days, it's just the right time.
Speaker 1 (28:45):
Yeah, and today's re-burger day.
Speaker 3 (28:47):
Yeah, I think so.
Speaker 4 (28:47):
Right, right.
Speaker 1 (28:48):
What spice level are you going to get?
Speaker 3 (28:49):
Especially now that they're, you know, in the CBD.
Speaker 4 (28:53):
Oh.
Speaker 3 (28:54):
You know what I mean? I was very excited to
hear that.
Speaker 1 (28:57):
Are you talking about the one on Key Street?
Speaker 3 (28:58):
Yes, that's the one, Key. Z. Z.
Speaker 1 (29:02):
Mogi, tonight?
Speaker 4 (29:04):
Tonight, yes, it exists. You and I, Keezy, we're going
to be going out on a little date together, and
you were just saying to me, oh, I'm a little
bit hungus. The state that we're going on, they're going
to have food there.
Speaker 3 (29:16):
Yeah, I was going to say, sure, and I'll have
hors d'oeuvres.
Speaker 1 (29:19):
Canapes, yeah.
Speaker 4 (29:20):
Yeah, canapes.
Speaker 1 (29:21):
Canaps. To be honest, though, the issue with canapes is I'm–
I'm too, like... Much of a gut to just have.
Speaker 3 (29:29):
One and sort of leave it. No, no, no. Grab
the tray and you're just like shoveling it down.
Speaker 1 (29:33):
Just leave those there.
Speaker 3 (29:35):
Mate, is what Kesey says. Just leave the tray.
Speaker 1 (29:37):
I take the tray off him. Yeah. No, but the
issue is I can't.
Speaker 4 (29:40):
You take the uniform off him and then you're going
around and just grabbing all the trays, pretending you work there,
but you take them into the toilets there, the cubicle,
and you just scoff at them.
Speaker 1 (29:49):
I take them into the toilets. And then I just
dump them all on the floor in a pile and
I get down on all fours.
Speaker 4 (29:54):
And look over your shoulder.
Speaker 1 (29:55):
And then start eating and then Mogi comes through the
front door and I look back over my shoulder on
all fours.
Speaker 4 (30:00):
And I say, thought I'd find you here.
Speaker 5 (30:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (30:03):
With crepe all over your face.
Speaker 4 (30:05):
Yeah, crepe.
Speaker 1 (30:07):
Crepe. Hey, fellas, actually, you know, all jokes aside.
Speaker 5 (30:12):
Yes.
Speaker 1 (30:12):
Coming up next, I have to make an apology to
the listeners.
Speaker 4 (30:15):
You do, man.
Speaker 3 (30:15):
You do.
Speaker 1 (30:16):
Because I made one of the biggest mistakes of my
career yesterday on the show.
Speaker 4 (30:19):
Yeah, I know.
Speaker 1 (30:20):
I feel terrible.
Speaker 3 (30:21):
I wanted to just go away and, you know, slip
it under the carpet. No chance.
Speaker 1 (30:26):
Under the rug. No, the carpet.
Speaker 3 (30:28):
No, the carpet, man.
Speaker 4 (30:29):
The rug can be moved. The carpet can't, you see. Okay.
Speaker 3 (30:33):
He's smashing pumpkins.
Speaker 2 (30:35):
The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
Speaker 3 (30:40):
Lincoln Park there on the Radio Hodaki Big Show this
Wednesday evening. The time is 6.14. Over to you, Keezy.
Speaker 1 (30:48):
Jase, could you please play the apology music?
Speaker 4 (30:50):
Sure, man.
Speaker 1 (30:51):
Nah, it's wrong.
Speaker 4 (30:53):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (30:57):
Fellas, yesterday on the show, I made a mistake, a
huge mistake. It's the worst mistake I've ever made in
my entire life.
Speaker 3 (31:04):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (31:06):
I mistakenly said to the audience, which is vast, I said, hey,
do you want to come down to Dunedin? Dunedin? Do
you want to come to Dunedin to the beer festival there?
Speaker 4 (31:18):
That's right.
Speaker 1 (31:18):
Do you want to win a prize? People called up. Oh,
800 Hodaki.
Speaker 4 (31:22):
People were keen. Yeah, it was a good prize too. Yeah,
trip for two down to the Dunedin Beer Festival. Flights, accommodation,
the whole kit and caboodle. There was only one problem,
wasn't there, Keezy? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (31:36):
The prize didn't exist.
Speaker 3 (31:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (31:38):
What I had mistakenly done is not read properly. and
just assume that that's what we were doing.
Speaker 4 (31:44):
Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (31:45):
And I knew I'd made a mistake because as soon
as I said it, I looked into the B studio
and Pugs was bursting to tears.
Speaker 3 (31:49):
Yeah, he was sobbing. I've never seen him like that.
Speaker 4 (31:52):
We don't make mistakes like that on the big show. Wow, wow, wow.
Speaker 3 (31:55):
Very real.
Speaker 1 (31:56):
Yeah, yeah. Hey, and another way to look at it
is fellas, it's like, fuck, good run. Five years, zero mistakes.
Speaker 4 (32:02):
Yeah, you've had a shocker though the last couple of weeks,
haven't you? There's been a real couple of weeks, a
couple of weeks for first, if I remember correctly.
Speaker 3 (32:11):
Eight F-bombs, too, over the years, too.
Speaker 4 (32:13):
Yeah, shocking bastard.
Speaker 5 (32:14):
Eight.
Speaker 1 (32:16):
But look, that might happen in the future, right? That
prize might happen in the future. Let's just say that.
For now, though. I was talking to Bogsy.
Speaker 4 (32:24):
He said it definitely won't. It's off the table.
Speaker 1 (32:27):
The CEO?
Speaker 4 (32:27):
Yeah, yeah, yeah. He's very involved for a CEO, isn't he? Well,
he needs to be, man, because you are all over
the show. You need a steady hand at the tiller.
You do. Yeah, yeah, yeah, right.
Speaker 3 (32:38):
Otherwise, you'd just go crashing into the coral.
Speaker 1 (32:40):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 4 (32:42):
We've got to be careful, Keezy. Otherwise, next thing you know,
you'll be chucking the rugby ball around the studio, knocking
glasses of water all over the computers.
Speaker 3 (32:49):
Smashing bowls.
Speaker 4 (32:50):
Smashing bowls out in the kitchen, kicking the ball around willy-nilly,
acting like you've got skills. You've got none. Hey, I
cleaned those up.
Speaker 1 (32:55):
We've got to be careful with you, man. I cleaned
both of those messes up.
Speaker 4 (32:59):
Oh, did that actually happen? Oh, did it?
Speaker 1 (33:00):
Hey, fellas, here's the prize, right? Here we go. I
think I'll have.
Speaker 4 (33:08):
Myself a beer.
Speaker 3 (33:08):
Big show.
Speaker 2 (33:11):
The Radio Hodaki Big Show. Name our beer.
Speaker 1 (33:14):
That's right. Name our beer, fellas. 2026, today in Craft
Beer and Beer Festival. They're making a beer specifically for
the festival. It is a tropical, hazy pale ale. It
needs a name. If you'd like to name it, you
give us a call right now on 0800-HODAKI. You suggest
a name.
Speaker 5 (33:31):
Boom!
Speaker 1 (33:32):
Free Emerson's hoodie.
Speaker 3 (33:34):
Yeah, nice. Just like that.
Speaker 5 (33:37):
Boom.
Speaker 1 (33:37):
0800 HODOKI. Give us a buzz right now with a
good name for that beard.
Speaker 4 (33:40):
And that's free, that hoodie.
Speaker 1 (33:41):
It is free.
Speaker 3 (33:43):
100% free. I tell you what, I love me a
good hoodie. You do? I love me hoodies.
Speaker 1 (33:48):
Hoodie J.
Speaker 3 (33:49):
Yeah, hoodie, hoodie, Jay.
Speaker 1 (33:50):
You're wearing one right now, man. It rules.
Speaker 3 (33:52):
Yeah, thank you. It's not an Emerson's, though, which is
a bugger.
Speaker 1 (33:56):
No, you're right. Emerson's, of course, are the ones that
are making it all possible. They are, well, they've been
a big partner of the Big Show for a long time.
Speaker 3 (34:02):
Yes, they have.
Speaker 1 (34:03):
Don't forget, if you're keen to go to the Dunedin
Beer Festival, dunedinbeerfestival.co.nz. It's happening a little later on in
the year. We're talking Friday, November 27th, and Saturday, November
28th at Forsyth Bar Stadium. Shapeys are playing. Shape Chef,
the Troy King in Red Fountain.
Speaker 4 (34:18):
How good.
Speaker 1 (34:19):
Plus more than 75 beer, food, and beverage vendors.
Speaker 4 (34:24):
100% true, Muggy.
Speaker 1 (34:25):
I don't lie about this.
Speaker 4 (34:26):
Yeah, I don't know if I can trust you.
Speaker 3 (34:27):
Well, let's go to the phone lines. G'day, Jordan, you
mad bastard. How's life?
Speaker 5 (34:31):
Oh, I'm great, thanks.
Speaker 3 (34:33):
Yeah, good, thanks, mate. What do you do for a crust, Jordan?
Speaker 5 (34:36):
Oh, it's, uh, Renovation.
Speaker 3 (34:38):
Oh, okay, Renovation, sweet.
Speaker 1 (34:40):
What did you say, Innovation?
Speaker 5 (34:42):
No, no, I said Innovation.
Speaker 3 (34:43):
Oh, Innovation. Sorry. Yeah, backbone.
Speaker 4 (34:45):
Yeah, good on you, man.
Speaker 1 (34:46):
Backbone shit.
Speaker 3 (34:47):
We need our innovators, don't we, fellas?
Speaker 1 (34:49):
Actually, do you have a good innovative name for our beer, Jordan?
Speaker 5 (34:54):
Oh, yeah, I might do, actually.
Speaker 4 (34:55):
You might like it.
Speaker 5 (34:55):
It's, uh, Keezy on all four bottles looking over his
bottle top Keezy.
Speaker 1 (35:00):
LAUGHTER Jordan, that name is shit. I couldn't help myself. No,
it's good shit, Jordan. Boom, you've got yourself an Emerson's hoodie.
Speaker 3 (35:09):
You all right, brother?
Speaker 5 (35:11):
Oh, thank you so much for that.
Speaker 3 (35:12):
No, you're welcome, man. That's a great name, actually.
Speaker 4 (35:15):
Well, it's a good name for Jordan. It's Beer Jordan.
Speaker 3 (35:19):
Yes.
Speaker 4 (35:19):
Bear Jordan.
Speaker 1 (35:20):
Bear Jordan.
Speaker 4 (35:20):
Yeah, that's what he should call himself.
Speaker 1 (35:21):
And it's a silhouette of him.
Speaker 4 (35:23):
Yeah, that's right. Sculling a bear.
Speaker 3 (35:24):
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Just over the net there.
Speaker 5 (35:26):
Yeah, good stuff.
Speaker 1 (35:27):
Hey, fellas, big shout-out to Emerson's and also a big
shout-out to the Dunedin Bear Festival. Don't forget to hit
up their website, dunedinbearfestival.co.nz for tickets.
Speaker 3 (35:35):
Beautiful.
Speaker 2 (35:36):
The Hodaki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune
in weekdays at four on Radio Hodaki.
Speaker 3 (35:41):
Yes, indeed. Faith no more there on the Hodaki Big
Show this Wednesday evening. Fellas, let's give out some advice.
Speaker 1 (35:50):
PattyNibs69 at.
Speaker 4 (35:55):
Gmail.com.
Speaker 1 (35:56):
Get in touch with the fellas.
Speaker 3 (35:59):
With the fellas.
Speaker 1 (36:01):
Meet PattyNibs69 at gmail.com. Real email address. Get in touch.
It's anonymous. We give out great advice, and you get
a Reburger voucher if we read it on the show.
G'day there, fellas. Anonymous here. I've got a proper nightmare
going on at my place.
Speaker 4 (36:14):
Oh, no.
Speaker 1 (36:15):
Some hooded joker is rocking up to my building every
day at 4 a.m., dumping a mountain of bird seed
on the street and then gapping it before anyone can
catch him. It's been going on for ages now, and
every morning it's an absolute circus, hundreds of birds and
whatever else going feral outside my window. My car is
copping it daily. The street looks like a crime scene
(36:36):
and I'm running on stuff all sleep. Best part is
the keen bastard doesn't even stick around to watch the chaos,
just does the drop and bails like a proper ghost.
How do I deal with this shocking bastard, fellas?
Speaker 4 (36:48):
I saw this on the news. This was on the news, Jase.
Speaker 3 (36:51):
Was it?
Speaker 4 (36:52):
Yes, they had a news crew that accosted the person.
I think it might have been in Australia, though, weirdly enough.
So I don't know. So, yeah, I don't know. It's
a tricky one, isn't it?
Speaker 5 (37:03):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (37:03):
I'm going through it at the moment with the birds
waking me up.
Speaker 1 (37:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (37:06):
That's with no seeds involved at all.
Speaker 1 (37:08):
That's just one or two, though, isn't it?
Speaker 4 (37:09):
It's just a couple of vocal bastards there.
Speaker 3 (37:14):
There's a young lady in the square, Aotea Square there,
who every couple of days or so... Stands in the
middle of the square with handfuls of seed.
Speaker 4 (37:30):
Oh, yeah.
Speaker 3 (37:31):
And is just.
Speaker 4 (37:33):
Bird seed.
Speaker 3 (37:33):
Bird seed.
Speaker 1 (37:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (37:37):
Absolutely mobbed. And she lived by pigeons. Like, literally, there'll
be 50 pigeons on her. And she just stands there.
Loves it. And I'm like, I couldn't think of anything
more icky than being covered with flapping birds. Pecking away.
(37:59):
I mean, that's my nightmare.
Speaker 1 (38:01):
To be fair, my old flat, we used to have chickens.
We had six chickens.
Speaker 3 (38:06):
Do you used to feed the chickens?
Speaker 1 (38:07):
Yeah, and I used to fill up my hand with
grain and feed the chooks.
Speaker 3 (38:11):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (38:12):
And I loved it. Like, it's a really nice feeling.
Speaker 5 (38:15):
Pick, pick, pick.
Speaker 1 (38:16):
Yeah, it's fun. It's like you're part of nature.
Speaker 4 (38:18):
You know?
Speaker 3 (38:19):
I don't know about you guys. For me, they're a pest.
Speaker 1 (38:23):
Birds? Yeah.
Speaker 3 (38:24):
All of them? Yeah. I mean, you know how I feel.
I went through that weird phase where I was getting
attacked by birds. There were birds doing weird things in
my roof. I've got no time for birds.
Speaker 1 (38:35):
So what would you do?
Speaker 3 (38:36):
So I totally get what this guy is talking about.
Speaker 1 (38:39):
What do we do?
Speaker 4 (38:40):
What do we do, Jase? There's a guy dropping bird seed.
Have you listened to this, man?
Speaker 3 (38:44):
I wouldn't leave the house.
Speaker 1 (38:46):
So your solution is just to stay indoors?
Speaker 3 (38:48):
Yes. Don't leave until this guy gets caught and put
away for 10 plus years.
Speaker 4 (38:57):
I would, this guy comes every morning about 4 a.m.,
was it, Keezy?
Speaker 1 (39:01):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (39:02):
I'd get up there, I'd set a booby trap.
Speaker 5 (39:04):
Right.
Speaker 4 (39:05):
You heard about that?
Speaker 1 (39:06):
Like dig a hole?
Speaker 3 (39:07):
No.
Speaker 1 (39:07):
Put a blanket over it?
Speaker 4 (39:08):
No, no, no, no, no, no. Booby trap.
Speaker 1 (39:11):
Yeah. So while he's distracted, you tackle him. Oh, so someone,
one person, oh. That's a good idea.
Speaker 4 (39:18):
You like that?
Speaker 1 (39:19):
And then there's seed everywhere.
Speaker 2 (39:21):
The Hodaki Big Show with Jace, Mike, and Keezy. Tune
in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
Speaker 3 (39:26):
Red.
Speaker 1 (39:27):
Hot.
Speaker 5 (39:27):
Turn.
Speaker 3 (39:31):
Chili Peppers here on the Radio Hodaki Big Show this
Wednesday evening. Fellas, I've got a bone to pick. I've
got a bone to pick. Now, you'll be aware of
the fact from the past that old hoodie J doesn't
like birds very much.
Speaker 1 (39:47):
When you say that, what do you mean?
Speaker 3 (39:48):
Well, it's just as a kid I was attacked by them.
I got attacked by a magpie once and I think.
Speaker 1 (39:54):
Picked you up and flew off, didn't it?
Speaker 3 (39:55):
Yeah, it did.
Speaker 1 (39:56):
You were raised in a nest as one of its own.
Speaker 3 (39:59):
I was for ages. But in the end, you know,
I just had to jump out.
Speaker 1 (40:04):
Was it the beak, do you reckon?
Speaker 3 (40:06):
Yeah, I think it was the beak. Well, that was
the thing, Keith. I thought it was a massive beak.
Speaker 1 (40:10):
Because you were wearing all black like you are now.
Speaker 3 (40:12):
I was. And what you don't know about me, when
I was about five years old, I had this weird
grey streak in my hair. So I used to wear
black with this grey streak in my hair, and this
big magpie saw me and went, McCaw, McCaw, and picked
me up and dumped me in the nest. Far out.
But anyway.
Speaker 4 (40:30):
Happens quite a lot.
Speaker 3 (40:31):
This is my bugbear. Now, you'll be aware of the
fact that I live in the CBD now, old hoity J.
Speaker 5 (40:37):
Mm.
Speaker 3 (40:41):
And my wife and I are prone to the occasional
cafe visit, as you do when you're living in the city,
you know. It's right there on your doorstep.
Speaker 1 (40:49):
I would say as you do if you live anywhere,
to be honest.
Speaker 3 (40:51):
Well, not out west. There's don't really have any cafes
out west.
Speaker 1 (40:53):
There's a great cafe just on the corner by my house.
Speaker 3 (40:56):
I don't call a petrol station a cafe, Keezy.
Speaker 4 (40:59):
Oh, okay. Well, never mind.
Speaker 3 (41:00):
But anyway, so what I've noticed, and particularly in my
two favourite cafes, which I won't, you know, name, is
the amount of birds inside the cafe. Now, you'll be
sitting there, right? No, I'm prone in one of the cafes.
Speaker 1 (41:16):
You're prone, so you're lying down. You're lying down.
Speaker 3 (41:19):
I'm looking over my shoulder or on my hands and knees.
What I like.
Speaker 4 (41:23):
That's not prone. What do you like when you're prone?
Speaker 3 (41:25):
When I am, you know, ordering my favourite dish, which
is Turkish eggs, and it has a labnet. which is
like a cheesy sort of sauce, which is really good.
But there's always like a couple of pigeons flying around.
I don't know about you, but I find that massively disconcerting.
I find it unhygienic.
Speaker 1 (41:46):
Pigeons, yes, they're big.
Speaker 3 (41:49):
I hate the idea that I'm tucking into my Turkish
eggs and then one of the pigeons does a massive
pigeon steamer right on my Turkish eggs.
Speaker 1 (42:00):
Well, that's not going to happen, though, is it?
Speaker 3 (42:01):
Well, I mean, why wouldn't it happen? Is there flying
around the place? You know what I mean?
Speaker 4 (42:05):
It's like, what's going on here? The bird's flying these
pigeons that you're inside.
Speaker 3 (42:10):
You're inside the cafe and there'll be a pigeon bloody
hopping around.
Speaker 4 (42:14):
So hopping or flying?
Speaker 3 (42:15):
Well, they hop and then they fly. You know, the
last thing you want to do is order a ham
and cheese croissant and have a big splatter on it.
You know what I'm saying?
Speaker 1 (42:25):
Do you find it ironic that you're in a cafe
eating eggs? From a bird?
Speaker 4 (42:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (42:30):
And complaining about birds?
Speaker 3 (42:32):
No.
Speaker 4 (42:34):
Good.
Speaker 3 (42:36):
But you know what I mean?
Speaker 2 (42:37):
The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
Speaker 4 (42:44):
Doosh, doosh, doosh.
Speaker 3 (42:46):
Mochi. Well, there you go, you mad bastards. That's the
big show done and dusted for your Wednesday. And the
disclaimer today, the new name for what used to be
previously called the outro podcast. What clip have you got
for us, Keezy?
Speaker 1 (43:01):
It's a clip about Jase putting and having the yips.
Did I tell you to think about hot pot?
Speaker 3 (43:08):
No.
Speaker 1 (43:08):
When you were putting?
Speaker 3 (43:09):
I was already thinking about hot pot.
Speaker 1 (43:11):
Woody J's got the yips.
Speaker 4 (43:12):
Oh, have you got the yips?
Speaker 1 (43:13):
He's got the putting yips.
Speaker 4 (43:14):
Oh, you've had the yips, right?
Speaker 5 (43:15):
I have.
Speaker 1 (43:16):
Now that he's starting to really dwell on it now,
which is making it way worse. And he'll step up
to hit it and he'll say stuff like, this is
where I f * * * ed up last time.
And I'm like, Dad, of course you're going to hit
bad if you think that as soon as you go
to hit it.
Speaker 3 (43:32):
Yeah, we're broken men. We're broken golfers, Mogi. But anyway,
moving on, what's your plan for the night?
Speaker 4 (43:37):
Me and Keezy are going on a hot date. Can't
tell you any more than that. It's a bit of
a surprise.
Speaker 1 (43:42):
Bit of an industry who's who situation.
Speaker 4 (43:44):
That's right. Yeah, exactly. So looking forward to that. We
might have some information about that tomorrow, eh, Keezy? A
few yarns to tell? Yeah, how good. Mogi and Keezy
out on the town painting it red, brother.
Speaker 3 (43:54):
Yeah, sounds good.
Speaker 1 (43:55):
We've already got the yarn about me getting all the
hors d'oeuvres, putting it on the floor in the toilet,
and then eating it on all fours.
Speaker 4 (44:00):
You're a shocking bastard. Sometimes I forget, Jase.
Speaker 1 (44:03):
He's a shocking bastard.
Speaker 3 (44:04):
I know.
Speaker 1 (44:04):
You can't take him anywhere.
Speaker 3 (44:06):
You don't need to remind me.
Speaker 1 (44:07):
But you keep taking me places.
Speaker 4 (44:08):
I keep doing it.
Speaker 3 (44:09):
I know.
Speaker 1 (44:09):
Shocking bastard.
Speaker 4 (44:11):
You know, at some point, man, I've probably got to
blame myself, don't I? Yeah.
Speaker 1 (44:14):
Because I keep taking them places, he keeps on doing it.
Speaker 4 (44:16):
But, you know... You've just got to expect it from
the guy because it's just part of who he is.
Speaker 3 (44:22):
It's who I am. It's who he is, man. Is
it his fault or.
Speaker 4 (44:25):
Is it my fault?
Speaker 1 (44:25):
It's probably my fault for expecting anything different. Actually, Jase,
you're having hot pot tonight. What's hot pot like eating
off the floor of a public toilet?
Speaker 3 (44:32):
Yeah, really good, man. Really good.
Speaker 1 (44:34):
I might try it.
Speaker 3 (44:36):
I'm off. I'm going to don my skull candies.
Speaker 4 (44:39):
Just sit in the restaurant with your skull candies on.
Speaker 3 (44:43):
My wife will be opposite me. She'll be on her
phone probably looking at Insta.
Speaker 1 (44:48):
You guys have got a great relationship.
Speaker 3 (44:50):
We'll scoff it all down and then go home. I
don't know, actually. I think I might... Watch telly and
then go to bed. No, because I'm really... I'm a
bit sore after the old golf today.
Speaker 1 (45:02):
Have a sauna, man.
Speaker 3 (45:03):
Not a bad idea, Keezy.
Speaker 5 (45:05):
He won't.
Speaker 3 (45:05):
I think it might be closed, though. Actually, I should
investigate that. You should. Because I've never been quite sure.
Speaker 1 (45:10):
You should investigate it, but you won't. We'll do nothing.
Speaker 4 (45:13):
You'll do nothing.
Speaker 1 (45:14):
Investigate it like you're a detective. Sort of detective.
Speaker 4 (45:18):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (45:18):
Yeah, good stuff.
Speaker 1 (45:20):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (45:20):
Or I might just have a... You know what? I
think I'll have a bath.
Speaker 4 (45:23):
No, you won't.
Speaker 3 (45:24):
You don't have a bath.
Speaker 4 (45:25):
You'll do nothing.
Speaker 1 (45:25):
You haven't had a bath or cleaned yourself in years.
Speaker 3 (45:29):
Goodbye!
Speaker 1 (45:29):
See you tomorrow.
