Now we're into August. Man, unbelievable, eh, isn't it unbelievable?

Just I cannot believe it.

That's it, man, I'm not drinking for the rest of
the year. Really. Yeah, man, I'm giving up the smoke
and the whole thing. Keasy, I promise you? Oh God?

Yeah?

Good looking? Bit tired? Yeah, I had a bit of
a disturbed sleeper. We'll get into that later on the SHEP.
But to be honest, excellent weekends us today in particular,
was one of the great days of the year for me.
Had an absolute ball and so did my wife. Alight,
it's great. Of course we are referring to come Dine
with Me first, cab off the rank was Moogi. Yeah, yes,
and the whole team and their partner's got together. It
was magnificent, it was.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
It was really great, lovely, very pleasant. I likewise had
a very good weekend, had a very nice Saturday, Moggi.
Sunday was sensational with Come Dine with Maggie, enjoyed by everyone,
I believe. So yeah, tickety boo. Can I say you
can slay? I sleep like a baby last night?

Speaker 5 (01:46):
Oh yeah, yeah, mate, I was all g yeah, man,
I was out like the light as well. It's bloody good,
bloody good initially. Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah. We're going to
get into the final details of that as well.

Another Monday, another reflection fellas on the Warriors performance over
the weekend and what the hell of a game it was.

all Wings looking over his beat with me. Keysey flew
in the first of eight races in this pigeon racing

Hot Arky Big Show this Monday afternoon. The time is
thirteen minutes past four o'clock, which means it's time for.

Speaker 4 (03:08):

The feelings.

Speaker 5 (03:13):
Well here we are, fellows. A day after the very
first come down with Me, it was come come down
with the fellows with.

Speaker 4 (03:19):
Me, Mogi, yes, or just come down with Mogi, come
don with Mogi.

Speaker 5 (03:23):
If you like, and had it yesterday around at our joint.
Beautiful bloody day it was. It had been a weekend
of a lot of prep. Now, I do just want
to say off from the start, and we haven't really
said anything about the rules around this, but I I
made everything in this menu. I got zero help from
my wife except on the hosting.

Speaker 4 (03:44):
Duties on the day. Oh wow. And she did duck
out and get some white pepper at the place that
I went to. So we're not out of anyhow from
our partners. No, No, I'm just saying that for me.
You know, it's come down with the fowlers.

Speaker 5 (03:56):
It's not come down with your fellers and you and
your part You know, you guys can do what you want.
I'm just saying that for me and this, and let
me be honest, that's just the way that it happened.
It's not how I wanted it.

Speaker 4 (04:06):
Yeah, okay.

Speaker 5 (04:08):
My wife was meant to take care of the dumplings,
and the entree was a dumpling made ve made from
scratch by hand by these very hands fellers. And my
wife was like, oh, me and our daughter, me and
Megie and Magi will make those. Well she was nowhere
to be seen. She didn't make anything, but it was.
It was absolutely fine. It worked out good. But so

(04:30):
with the entree that was the dumplings. Now that's the
area where I felt I left my let myself down
the most because it wasn't enough of them. And what
I didn't realize was it took ten minutes to cook
them all, and I had planned to steam them. I
bought a steam especially, but all four pots were operating
the volcanic heat broth, so we had no pots left

(04:53):
for me to be able to steam them.

Speaker 4 (04:54):
So there wasn't enough of those.

Speaker 5 (04:55):
So I apologized for that, and then I thought, well,
there's probably enough main food anyway, so that it does.

Speaker 4 (04:59):
The main food was a hot part, and she was hot.
She was hot.

Speaker 5 (05:04):
And then for dessert we had a Korean mango dish,
which I was really happy with. No I had made now,
I'd made none of these things before, and I've never
hosted a dinner party ever before in my life, so
I was really worried about things not timing out right.

Speaker 4 (05:21):
So on Saturday I worked.

Speaker 5 (05:22):
I was beavering away until nine o'clock at night, and
then on Sunday there I was up at six thirty
and I was back back at it so I was
that that and I tell you what, I was grateful
for Parks pushing out because he couldn't. Originally it was
going to be two o'clock thirty. I needed every minute
of that. I had a shower about three minutes before

(05:45):
you guys walked through the door.

Speaker 4 (05:46):
And it's funny because I was like to my wife,
we cannot be late. We had attulity on the dot
because like they'll all be waiting. Yeah, well, I appreciate
people not being early. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (05:55):
And then the entertainment was we went on a tour
of the Sinkhole, Moggie's Sinkhole, which is around the corner.

Speaker 4 (06:04):
Yes, and your people will see footage.

Speaker 5 (06:06):
Of that as well. But I had a great time.
There's a lot of great laughs and a two hour
thing being four hours.

Speaker 4 (06:15):
Yeah, I had an absolute ball.

Speaker 2 (06:17):
Well, I think it's fair to say we all had
a ball mogie.

Speaker 4 (06:19):
It was excellent person and it's really.

Speaker 2 (06:21):
Nice too with our partners as well, you know what
I mean. It's not just a fellows. Our partners are
there and even one gets on very well. But it
was a majestic afternoon and I like the time of
day too, by the way. Yeah, plenty of run up,
which we've been discussing.

Speaker 4 (06:37):
At first, I was, ah, a bit random, but when
you talk about it, you can prep on the Saturday
and Sunday morning to just iron stuff out. I think
it's a good idea, yes, and we'll probably do the same.

Speaker 2 (06:46):
So what we're going to do next is get all
the fellows in and score it. Now, the scoring is
going to work like this. We're going to score the entre, Main,
dessert and entertainment each out of ten for a final total.

Speaker 4 (06:58):
Out of forty out of forty yep. Okay, so this
is I'm nervous because so much love went into that.
It was an entire weekend of work. Yes, you know,
and if Kezy just comes out and gives the old
six out of ten and you know, it's not gonna
get out. Well, so that's all right.

high jump, but Mogi's come out and done pole vault.
So I'm glad you went first.

To be So this is how we're doing it. We're
scoring Entrey, Main, Dessert and Entertainment each out of ten.

Speaker 4 (08:05):
Yes, all right. And also, can we say, regardless of
the scores, we all agree that was frigaging awesome.

Speaker 5 (08:10):
I had a ball ahead of ball. This is this
is almost a separate thing to me. And I do
want to point out in the last break, I said,
my wife didn't help me with anything. She cleaned the house,
which was its own two day jobs. Yes, okay, thank
you to her. All Right, Well, howdy Jay you.

Speaker 2 (08:23):
Can Okay, we'll set off with Entree Fellers. Yeah, I'll
kick off with my score. I gave it a very
solid and respectable eight out of ten.

Speaker 4 (08:31):
Wow. Okay, now the entre for me, which was the
dumplings eight for me is really good. Yeah, that's my
to say, you're aware I've given them a seven out
of ten. Great, just because I wanted more of them, Yes,
thank you, Then it's fair. And then I had the
last one and I got a bit of chewed from everyone,
and I was like, I just wanted more of them.

Speaker 6 (08:50):
So yeah, well listen, moggie, I love them so much.

Speaker 7 (08:52):
I dropped one on the floor, you do, because I
was just trying to scoff my faces as many as
I could.

Speaker 4 (08:56):
I did.

Speaker 7 (08:57):
I thoroughly enjoyed it, and just the vibe of the
on Trey as well was really great. You had some
good tunes going, some little bit for Keysy. So I
take the atmosphere into account as well. Fellas, so I've
given your entree and out of ten.

Speaker 2 (09:09):
The only thing about the ENTREA will say, with the
red oil there, I was terrified of spilling it on you.

Speaker 4 (09:14):
Yeah, and also bonus points for having your daughter meg Mino.
You're handing out chopsticks.

Speaker 2 (09:20):
Ye. Now for the main hot pot, very dear to
my heart, and I was very impressed with the inspiration
behind that, the dedication behind me, the execution behind that,
very enjoyable to me.

Speaker 5 (09:34):
I will just say that the music was for Keysy
the hot pot was for everyone, but Jay's for you,
and then Pegs and I ducked outside for a dat.

Speaker 7 (09:43):
I knew everybody I said that. I was like, this
guy knows how to play the game. Man, he's got
something for everyone. And I knew the cigarette came into that.

Speaker 2 (09:51):
So for me, the main hot pot I gave a
nine out of ten.

Speaker 6 (09:56):
Wow, brilliant stuff.

Speaker 2 (09:57):
Wow.

Speaker 4 (09:58):
So a ten out of ten would be the be
dinner at someone's house you've ever had, Yes, wow, Yeah,
So the main for me MOGI. When I walked in
and saw the banquet you'd put out, blown away. The
taste of the hot pot was sensational. The heat level, however,
head me up twice twice during the night. Seriously, I

(10:20):
had to get up in the middle of the night.
I was like, this is an emergency, and unfortunately I
checked the time and it was midnight. So I was like, cool,
a keasy midnight semer, that's great. I was in up
again at three am, and I'll be honest this morning,
at about eight it was still like holy cow, super hot. However,
it was one of the most delicious hot pots I've
ever had, so the heat of it and the pain,

(10:40):
the fact I had to pay midway through the night
a couple of times dropped it from a nine to
an eight. Gat okay, So eight out of ten for.

Speaker 6 (10:46):
Me for the hot pot, for me for the hot pot, Mogi.

Speaker 7 (10:49):
I think it's it's really really an easy one, not
saying it was easy for you to do, but I
think it's a great way to let people create their
own dishes and their own delicious agree meal however they want.
And also very topical, really really right on brand. So
I've given your main and nine.

Speaker 4 (11:04):
Out of ten.

Speaker 3 (11:05):
Wow.

Speaker 4 (11:05):
Okay, So I was stunning stuff. Casey is the harsh guy.

Speaker 2 (11:09):
What man now for dessert? I was very impressed with
this feelings because I'll be honest with you, Mogi, I'm
not a huge mango fan, and it was a kind
of beautifully presented mango with a sort of condensed milky
icy kind of It was a bit sore beyish, really
a little bit soor bayish, and I thought I was

(11:33):
expecting it to be sweeter and it was much more
subtle than that, which I enjoyed. I gave your dessert
a solid and very good nine out of ten.

Speaker 4 (11:43):
Wow wow. So ten out of ten is the best
dessert you've ever had worried about everyone else's school, you know.

Speaker 5 (11:51):
I think the reason why Keysy is worried about your score,
Jose is because of Kesey's score.

Speaker 4 (11:56):
No, because it's just like if I make the best
dessert out.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
Of time, I'm saying. But what I'm saying is this
is this is mates dinners.

Speaker 5 (12:08):
You can also get a mind that's completely different and
you go, I really enjoyed that. So you don't, I know,
if you need to leave, okay, you know, okay.

Speaker 4 (12:16):
All right. So the dessert for me was subtle, which
when you're executing, especially the Asian style desserts, they are
always subtle. They're not always smacky in the face. Ice
cream on the side. There for a little bonus, I've
given you an eight out of ten. That's great. And
the good thing about it is I've never had that
dessert before. Yeah, And it was timed well, you know
it was. It was well executed. Yeah, it was a
real roll of the dicet one.

Speaker 5 (12:37):
I hadn't made any of the things on the menu,
but that one I'd never even heard of.

Speaker 4 (12:41):
Sam And I.

Speaker 5 (12:42):
Thought to myself, condensed milk, this is going to be foul.
But anyway, let's serve it up. And it was actually, yeah,
it was really good.

Speaker 2 (12:49):
And I love me a bit of condensed milk action.

Speaker 7 (12:52):
I'm a hard man to impress when it comes to
desserts because I don't really have a sweet tooth. I'm
very much a savory guy, which is why the main
was so high. But I really really appreciated the effort
you put in. I was walking into the kitchen to
plug my phone and.

Speaker 6 (13:04):
So you spring your little shamed ice there.

Speaker 7 (13:07):
So, as I say, hard to impress with desserts, however,
really really enjoyed it.

Speaker 6 (13:11):
I give it an eight out of ten for your dessert.

Speaker 4 (13:14):
Yeah, good stuff.

Speaker 2 (13:14):
Okay, entertainment, Jason, entertainment, Well, we went to see Mogi's Stinkhole.

Speaker 4 (13:20):
Sinkhole.

Speaker 2 (13:21):
Oh, I was at sink well. I had the air
maffs and I didn't quite hear what was going on.
Once again, I enjoyed the preparation.

Speaker 4 (13:30):
Should we talk through what happened there?

Speaker 5 (13:31):
So for the entertainment, I got everybody outside, put everybody
in a hard hat, a high verse safety glasses, and
little disposable airplugs, and then we walked about one hundred
meters around the corner in the daylight, and we did
an inspection of the sinkhole that's opened up over there.

(13:52):
Well it's been there for three years, but it's got
a much worse recently and they're doing a couple of
months with a work on it. So I thought we
go on a little tour because it has been content
of on the show.

Speaker 4 (14:00):
It was great. It was very as fun. I had
no idea what was going on. I was putting stuff
on and it was like, hey, stinkhold tell this is
great and ICs going for a walk after your dinner.

Speaker 2 (14:09):
I'm very fond of that. So it was it was
the sync that was well thought out, well thought out.
I'll be giving your entertainment for the night, Mogi nine
out of tea.

Speaker 4 (14:20):
Right, so holy walking around the corner and looking at
a hole tin.

Speaker 2 (14:32):
But also but we were all costumed up and there
was a lot of thought in that. And also I
like the brevity of it. Yeah, nothing, nothing. I don't
like entertainment going on forever.

Speaker 5 (14:44):
And somebody like someone's you know, playing a guitar and
steering your straight in the.

Speaker 4 (14:52):
Okay, So for the entertainment, I'm been capturing the whole
ambiance of the entire evening. So obviously your daughter, your
wife hosting, being very good hosts as well, great music
playing angle Bird every third song was an appreciated that,
and of course a lot of laughter to be had
as well. The tour itself thought was very funny. I
was like, what's going on? And then we went and

(15:12):
did it. It was funny, It was brief. Mogi did a
little bit of improv then pretended to be the site manager.
That was great, getting to see who's acting chops in
the flesh. For that reason, I've given it an eight
out of ten.

Speaker 7 (15:22):
Hey, that's good stuff, Keezy. Now, I really enjoyed that too.
I thought it was topical, right on brand. The stinkhole
has been talked about a lot in the last few days.
I also really, as I said to you in the
moment expensive bit.

Speaker 6 (15:34):
You really threw everything at it.

Speaker 7 (15:36):
You know, you bought official hard hats, high Viz goggles,
and earplugs. It was short, which I enjoyed, and I
know that you were playing to an audience that doesn't
love like intimate performances from friends, so I do appreciate
that and I take that into account with my score. However,
I I liked it, but I didn't love it as

(15:57):
much as I thought I would. I appreciated your commitment
to the bit, but it was a bit short for
my liking in terms of the maybe the practice.

So I've given your entertainment a seven out of ten.

Nice, beautiful, So total that gives you, Jase, what's your
toe thirty nine out of forty.

Yeah, that's bloody good. And as I say, that is
a very very high. So what we're going to do next,

That's right in the date it's going to be in
a few weeks time. We'll draw names out of a
hat and Pugs, you're working on a video of this
you were filming yesterday.

Yes, there's a shite load of footage, Fellers, so I'm

that we expect here on the big show.

Interesting because I've got a tiny two piers in apartment.

I didn't get to watch a lot, but what I
had been watching is continuing along with the series Friday
Night Lights that is available for you on Neon. It started,
I think there's five seasons of it started around about
two thousand and five or two thousand and six, and
it's based in a small town in Texas around the
high school football team and how all the pressures on

the players and the surrounding character's a great show.

Speaker 4 (20:49):
I'm just playing along with it, feels.

Speaker 2 (20:50):
Yeah, fellows. I went to the movies with my wife
and father in layd Sat day afternoon to see the
much talked about, the much claimed The Odyssey, the movie
that's on everyone's lips.

Speaker 4 (21:04):
At the moment. Did you go ix, Yes, very very loud.
I've heard that. I've heard that before, that comment.

Speaker 2 (21:12):
And I know that that makes me sound like a
very old man. But god, it's just a but anyway.
And of course my wife and I remembered that we've
just seen The Ralph. The fine version of is much
more low budget.

Over the weekend I saw Ellen Davies Live, the comedian
that was Yes, So he came in for listeners at
Donat's Massive Hero of Mine one of my all time
favorite comedians. Met him here at the show. He's very
low keyw energy his show. It's the first time I've
seen like a super slick, high energy UK comic. Before

the first ten minutes, he's literally just doing stuff specific
to Auckland in the theater, everyone's in stitch it. I
was like laughing so much and then really slick, highly polished,
very experienced comedian. In the middle of his show, it
gets down to the nitty gritty, and the nitty gritty
of his life is ten years ago he had his
father arrested for essentially molesting him as a child, and

it's really really heavy stuff. The reason he went on
tour again he hasn't been on tour and over a
day decade, was because he wanted to tell that story
and share that gets into some really heavy themes and
I think, just yeah, and for me personally, seeing a
real role model of mine talk about stuff like that,
at one point, I was like, you know, I felt
like I was gonna freaking almost cry. I was like,
I love this guy and I can't believe that the

stuff happened to him. But he soundwiches it perfectly, like
in the middle. It's this real deep, serious stuff. The
bread on each side is just some of the most select,
high energy, very very funny comedy I've ever seen. So
I give the show itself like a four. I mean,
you're going there to laugh for an hour and you're not.
You're laughing for forty minutes and really sad for twenty minutes. Yeah,
I'll give it a four. Bus he's out of five.

But to see him like, especially after meeting him and
then seeing I was just like, oh man, this is
so like he is, but great, really great great stuff.

Fellers. I've got a seven year old daughter, Maggie Minogi.
Maggie Minogi is what we called her.

Speaker 5 (40:23):
She's reached another mile milestone, and I've got to say
I'm pretty proud. When I was a youngster, I was
a very fussy eater. We used to eat at the
dining room table. My mother, Marge, my brother whose name
is Mike, weirdly enough, and myself and we we would
sit there and eat our dinner. And I hated every

(40:45):
single vegetable. If it was a frozen veget I couldn't
eat it. Yes, I could tell if her vegetable had
been frozen. My family would try and trick me, but
I always knew, so idly ended up sort of pushing
my food around the plate while my brother and mother
finished up, and then they'd go watch TV. And I
had to stay at the table and continue eating until
I was done. So what I would do is I

would take my plate. You get to a point where
you go, oh, nobody can see through these walls and
see what I'm doing. So one of the things I
would do is I'd go to the side window there
I carefully open the window because it was next to
the TV room, and I would scrape the rest of
my food out the window into the garden. Yes, on
another occasion, I took I hate peas, mean frozen peas,

the absolute worse. I'd take them and I'd put them
in my pocket and I'd go out. And I remember
one time I got caught because I put them in
my back pocket and then I went for a ride
on my bike and then I put them in the
wash and Mum discovered that I had a pocket full
of squash peas. So, just as past week, Mogi and
Ogi has reached a similar milestone. My wife, she had

her food from her lunch. She didn't eat it, so
I got it, got reheated. It was like a sandwich
and it got toasted up for her and she's got
to eat it. She's not eating it at skull, you're
eating it for afternoon tea.

Man.

So she got it and she was My wife gave
it to her. She was less than thrilled. Thrilled, but
my wife was trying to give it a nice little
spin by toasting it for a nice touch, nice little touch,
my wife, kids, and then the trouble is when these
kids are young, they don't really have any real concept
of time. So about thirty seconds later she came back
and she said, I'm finished it. My wife said, that's

not possible. It's like when they go for a nap
and they came out one second later and I've had
a nap.

Speaker 2 (42:32):
Yes, I'm rested now, that's right.

Speaker 5 (42:34):
I'm all good. And my wife said, have you eaten that?
And she said yes. And my wife looked at her
and said, have you really eaten that? Or have you
put it somewhere? And she said, ah, yeah, I put it.
She didn't tell her where. So I got home and
I got told the story and I'm cracking.

Speaker 4 (42:49):
I was sad. Where did you put it? She she
made the zipper sign across her mouth. She's not down.

Speaker 5 (42:55):
I was like, come on, where did you put it?
And she said outside? I said, we're outside. She said
in the it in the dirt. So put it in
the in the garden and the dirt, and I've said
anything else, and then she said.

Speaker 4 (43:05):
Yeah, I put a brick on top of it. So random.

Speaker 5 (43:11):
So now we've ended this age where it's going to
dawn and the same thing's going to happen with that
now with the lunches, which she mostly never eats, Yes,
and then she gets a lecturer about it when she
gets home. So the obvious thing and the realization you
come to when you're growing up is not that I
am going to start eating my lunch in order to
not get lectured by my parents. I just need my
parents to think that I've eaten my lunch. So that

means I so have to go through the absolute ball
ache of making the lunch and then I'm going to

I went for a few drafts. Yea out of land

Speaker 2 (44:34):
Man. You probably don't know this, but I live in
the CBD and right in the middle of the city here,
and every day I go home. I've seen your poster
for your play run Out. Yeah, I didn't go and
see it, but that's just because I tend to ignore
that sort of stuff. But I have heard so many
amazing things about it. Man, tell us about the story

(44:55):
and how it all came to be.

Speaker 11 (44:57):
Yeah, I was kind of just wanting to create a
S show. I've always thought of, like that classic like
what is your story?

Speaker 4 (45:03):
What's your story?

Speaker 11 (45:05):
And I don't know why, but I just thought about
I could have been a truck driver. My dad and
my granddad were truck drivers, and I just thought, why
did I never become one? And why am I in
the arts career? Yes, you know, like it's hard, and
I've always I was always told to never become a
truck driver.

Speaker 4 (45:21):
It's terrible. It's like the worst thing ever.

Speaker 11 (45:23):
Don't do it, and I was like, well, let me
find out from someone who's not who I don't know,
and who will tell me the truth. And so yeah,
I organized some interviews, but I actually only interviewed one
person in the end and we were in a truck
on the way home from Wontington to the White Leupper
just had a fat old yarn and it was just amazing.
And now this show is a debatim show using his

(45:46):
real words and me and kind of this show is
about me discovering if I should have become a truck driver.

Speaker 4 (45:52):
So that that's interesting because the show is called over
and out and it's very similar to my situation. Everyone
in my family on my dad's side are all mechanics. Yeah,
every single person does a job surrounding to do with cars.
So naturally I was like, I'm going to do that,
and my dad was like, do not do that? Yeah,
but I was like, but I really want to, because
everyone does it looks great.

Speaker 9 (46:10):
I do not do that.

Speaker 4 (46:11):
He's the opposite of that. Yeah, yeah, I have no skills.
What's yeah? Yeah, yeah, So it's the same thing, right,
They don't want you to follow down that same path
that they went down.

Speaker 11 (46:21):
Yeah, but I I despised it as well. I was like,
I was like, yeah, I'm with you, like I don't
want to I don't want to do that.

Speaker 4 (46:29):
And do you have a message for any truck where
I was listening right now, come along, come along to
the show.

Speaker 2 (46:36):
Well that's really funny because I say, I've got four
daughters and I've said to my daughters, never get into acting. Yeah,
it's it's a hard right and all seriousness, you know,
and it's not an easy one. So I've always gone,
don't do it. But I tell you what, I love
the idea of a big rig, you know, just cruising that,

(46:57):
you know, just cruising. But you know, I've also hitchhike
my life, and I know it's hard jecker and bloody,
boring and tiring at times.

Speaker 11 (47:05):
Yeah, well I think that's like kind of one of
the main messages in the show is like, like stuff
is hard get But you know, I wouldn't probably recommend
being an actor to someone who's like, should I be
an actor? I'll be like, you know, yes, it's it's
pretty tricky, but but I love it and I'll do
anything for it. And so yeah, there's some really cool
topics around, like what's what's in your blood? As this

(47:26):
truck driver talks about you that diesels in my blood,
so like performing is in my blood yet. So it's
really cool to compare acting and truck driving. You'd think
there'll be no similarities.

Speaker 4 (47:36):
Well what about what about going? You know, you talk
about your dad, your granddad, truck drivers blue dinnim in
their veins, like Jimmy Barnes says, and then you are
an actor. Yeah, what's what's the dead and granddad response
to that?

Speaker 11 (47:47):
But I think they were pretty I don't think they
maybe understood it at first. Yeah, but the more they've
seen me do it, the more they're like, we can
see you you are die hard about Yeah, and I
know where I get it from, Like my dad is
a performer, Like he's he's a clown, he's he's a jokester.

Speaker 4 (48:06):
And that's where I've got to try and beat it
out of you. My dad tried to beat it out
of me. I don't know, I not. I mean I
think you'd remember. Yeah, maybe I don't. Maybe it was
that bad, but it probably helps toe Like, hey, I'm
into acting, but good news my show is about truck drive.

Speaker 2 (48:23):
Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah yeah I remember my father saying
to me, but you know when I was thinking of
getting into acting when I left school, and he said,
it's all very well now, because you're a big fashion
a small pond. You get out into the royal world, boy,
and you're a small fashion a massive pond.

Speaker 4 (48:38):
And then what happened? Dog Squad broken mystress? Where with
actor Jackson Berlin discussing over and out the stage show
should go to a tune fellow? Yeah came back?

you have won a few awards there app which Chapter
of the Year whoa Mowgi's won that as well? I
have the film No, TV wasn't not really film, it's
just TV.

Which Actor of the Year did you win? Jason, Ah,
it was?

Speaker 11 (49:54):
Was it?

Speaker 4 (49:55):
I can't remember.

I don't place much stock on that sort of stuff.

Speaker 4 (50:00):
So Jackson, yeah, you want to actor the year most promising?
You Coomer as well at the Wellington Theater Awards. Obviously
you're a young talent who's coming through, you know, with
a few accolades behind you. Even so with your own
show it Q Theater. How hard is it to really
make it first of this career. It's pretty tricky. Yeah,
you gotta, you gotta, you gotta love it.

Speaker 11 (50:18):
You gotta do it when you're not getting paid or
you maybe don't enjoy it all the time.

Speaker 4 (50:23):
It's yeah, it's lemon tricky. But is it one of
those big picture things where you've got this big picture
in the in the horizon and that's what you're aiming towards.
You just gotta stay focused on that.

Speaker 2 (50:34):
Yeah.

Speaker 11 (50:34):
And there's nothing that like, there's nothing that drives me
more and there's nothing I can see myself doing other
than this.

Speaker 4 (50:41):
Yeah, And I think I've always heard that like, oh,
if you can do.

Speaker 11 (50:43):
Anything else, do it, And I was like, yeah, sure,
I play some sport. I can you know, maybe do economics.
I don't know, but no, I can't. I really can't.
I maybe thought that when I was you know, college
and early twenties, but now I'm like, no, there's nothing
else I can do.

Speaker 4 (50:57):
Awesome.

Speaker 5 (50:58):
Yeah, And then's, however, an experience put your own player
to get to putting it on and then having it
recognized like that. I'm assuming was that the first play
you've put on that sort of because we was that
was that at sir?

Speaker 11 (51:08):
There was at Bats oh wow man, Yeah, and I
think it really kind of showed people like you can
you know, Bats is a great place to it's raw,
you can throw walls and see what sticks.

Speaker 5 (51:19):
And Jays used to literally because he was at Bets
and he would literally throw ship.

Speaker 2 (51:27):
We went back there but about two years ago and
there's still one of my stalls on the on the
wall there. No we hit that. We had many great
times at Bats and Wellington, right, Yeah, it's an institution
in Wellington isn't it feelings? And I'm going to say, man,
you know, particularly for actors when they're starting out, just
do everything and when by that I mean everything acting related.

(51:50):
And what I really admire about so many young actors
these days is that so many of them, like yourself,
are creating their own work, because that's some to is
what you got to do. I mean, you can sit
there all day going, oh, well, I've got no auditions,
there's nothing going on, do comedy, do everything you can
do amateur thea to do everything exactly and fill your

(52:10):
you know, your boots reservoir with stuff. Yes, well you don't.

Speaker 4 (52:16):
You don't want to. If you've got the ability to write,
and now you know that you have, it's brilliant.

Speaker 5 (52:21):
That's the best of both wills because it means that
the power is no longer no longer in the hands
of other people. You're not waiting for people to decide
you're good enough. Yeah, you know you're good enough. You
can create your own work.

Speaker 4 (52:31):
Yeah right, the role that you want? Yeah, yeah, yeah,
if you want to go and see Jackson write me
the role that I want? Yeah, I think okay, yeah, okay,
good role? Do you want? I don't know Jackson talking

Speaker 2 (52:45):
I've always wanted to. I've always wanted to sort of,
you know, the Lefario role, you know, the sort of
lover of everything truck driver.

Speaker 5 (52:56):
That's actually maybe, yeah, you're hit shriking Joe's because he
used to. Yes, And this truck comes along, pulls over,
picks up old truck driver.

Speaker 4 (53:06):
Yeah, that's right. I could say.

Speaker 9 (53:07):

Yeah, I put my phone out. Yeah.

We actually I used to be in a comedy jerk
ll Cheuring Spice, and we had that very scenario where
a truck driver picks up a dude and then we
get in the truck and smoke a massive doobie and
I start freaking out and the driver is really inappropriate
and saying really intense stuff.

Speaker 4 (53:32):
That's a great. Yeah, when you're moving fast, you can't
get out. No, just checking Jackson. Are you only able
to write truck driving based stuff? Is there sort of
the limitation currently and I can only use other people's words. Yeah,
