Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Hodaki Big Show.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
Thanks to Craveworthy Street Food.

Speaker 1 (00:05):
Freshly made with Reburger.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
Welcome to the Hauraki Big Show.

Speaker 3 (00:12):
With Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Keezy. Oh, g'day, you
mad bastards. Great to have your company on this glorious
Wednesday afternoon. It is the 9th of September, 2026. And you,
my friends, as always, listening to the big show brought
to you by Reburg Air.

Speaker 4 (00:30):
Beef, chicken, vegan and vegetarian options. Reburg Air are redefining
the norm.

Speaker 3 (00:34):
Scrumptiously. Mogi, you stud, you Greek god, you stallion. How's life?

Speaker 1 (00:41):
Going pretty grousey, you mad dog, you sick son of
a bee, you weirdo. Another beautiful day here in the
city of Sales House. Look, dare I say it, spring
has sprung. I think so, man.

Speaker 3 (00:52):
I think so.

Speaker 1 (00:53):
There's never going to be another cold day as long
as I live. That's how it feels at the moment.

Speaker 3 (00:56):
The flowers are blooming. The birds are tweeting. Spring is here.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
I went for a walk today. I had a meeting.
I've just started walking everywhere. I've decided that's what I'm
going to do. And it was a half an hour walk.
And I got about 10 minutes into it and I thought,
this is too hot. I'm too hot. So I took
my shoes off and my socks off and I was
walking bare feet. And then I ran into Paddy Gower.
He's like, what are you doing? I said, nothing. He said,

(01:22):
why are you carrying your shoes?

Speaker 3 (01:24):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (01:25):
So anyway, I'm going to be on his new show,
Mogi's Got Issues, with Paddy Gower.

Speaker 3 (01:30):
It's going to.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
Be good about how I'm walking around like a homeless person.
So that was a fun day for me, Keezy. How
are you going, brother? Good.

Speaker 4 (01:35):
You're going pretty grouse, guys. Pretty stoked to be here.
Lovely day, isn't it?

Speaker 3 (01:39):
Isn't it? It's unbelievable.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
I feel like spring has sprung.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
Yeah, I feel like it has too.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
Quick question about you walking everywhere. What happened to Pushbike Mogi? Well,
Pushbike Mogi only pushbikes when he's a little bit short
on time. If I've got a little bit of time
up my sleeve, I'm Beat the Feet Mogi. Beat the Feet. Mogie, yeah, okay, cool.

Speaker 3 (01:59):
Jase, how are you going, man? You're looking good, brother. Yeah, yeah, good,
thank you. I can't complain. I don't know, I was
just walking through the CBD today and I was going, jeez,
what a glorious day. It feels like spring.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
What? Do you think it's sprung?

Speaker 3 (02:11):
I think so.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
You're off your head.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
What's happening on The Big Show with Old Mogie?

Speaker 1 (02:19):
Absolute treat today, fellas. We're going to have Jackie Van
Beek and Johnny Brough in studio for a yarn about
their new film, Mum, I'm Alien Pregnant. Very, very funny movie.
That'll be later on. Also, would you rather another opportunity
to get yourself into the drawer for Waz or Cars?
Listen out for the cue to call. That's going to
be a bloody ripper. Jase. Yeah, man. You've got a
huge holiday of a lifetime coming up.

Speaker 3 (02:40):
I do.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
You're going to Australia.

Speaker 3 (02:43):
Oh, wow. Yeah, you guys simply must one day. Again.

Speaker 1 (02:48):
We're going to get into that next, but also, Keezy,
we've got another cue to call to listen out for,
and this one is a monster of a bastard.

Speaker 4 (02:56):
That's right, fellas. Of course, this weekend is a huge
one at Mount Smart Stadium. The Warriors are taking on
the Dolphins. It's a home final. It's completely sold out. However,
if you're listening to the show and you hear this.

Speaker 3 (03:07):
Let's hear it.

Speaker 4 (03:15):
If you hear that, call us on 0800 HODAKI and
the first person through will get a double pass to
the sold-out WARS home final.

Speaker 3 (03:23):
How good, man.

Speaker 1 (03:24):
Oh, this is a jam.

Speaker 3 (03:25):
You like this one, don't you, James? I do. The
temper trap. Let's do it.

Speaker 2 (03:29):
The HODAKI Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio HODAKI.

Speaker 3 (03:33):
Yes, indeed. Bush there on the Radio HODAKI Big Show
this Wednesday afternoon. The time is 14 minutes past 4 o'clock. And, fellas,
exciting news. I'm going on holiday very soon in a
couple of weeks. And I must say that I've been
inspired by you fellas and all your massive overseas travels. And,

(03:53):
you know, I've always felt like a bit of a
deer brain, you know, the fact that I've never really
left New Zealand. Yes. The Nest, if you will. And
I see you, Backbones, and you've been to Europe. You've
been all over the shop.

Speaker 4 (04:06):
Europe's more than one country, Jess.

Speaker 3 (04:09):
Apparently so.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
I went to Fiji last year.

Speaker 3 (04:11):
You were joking.

Speaker 1 (04:12):
Yeah, 100%.

Speaker 4 (04:13):
I was in Brizzy earlier this year.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
Oh, wow.

Speaker 4 (04:16):
I've got a Japan trip coming up. So you're all right.
And I'm excited to see you getting out and about, man.

Speaker 3 (04:21):
Well, you know, I said to my wife, you know what, darling?
Let's bite the bullet. Let's go a bit crazy and
go overseas.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
Where are you going?

Speaker 3 (04:27):
Aussie. Oh, nice.

Speaker 4 (04:29):
Yeah, that's a good start.

Speaker 3 (04:30):
Yeah, thank you.

Speaker 1 (04:31):
West Coast or, you know, the more accessible and sort
of commonly treaded path of the East Coast?

Speaker 3 (04:38):
East.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
Yeah, good on you, man.

Speaker 3 (04:39):
But here's the exciting news, right? So I've got family
in Sydney, but all my daughters live in Melbourne. So
we're going to go and visit my family in Sydney initially.
And I said to my wife, check this out. How
about rather than fly from Sydney to Melbourne to see
the girls, we do a roadie.

Speaker 4 (04:58):
Oh.

Speaker 3 (04:58):
So we drive from Sydney to Melbourne and we said
to the girls, why don't we meet up somewhere along
the way, somewhere coastal, somewhere pretty, you know, that serves oysters,
have a bit of family time.

Speaker 1 (05:10):
Yeah, right.

Speaker 3 (05:11):
The only issue that I have is that I don't
know that area, so I don't know where all the
good spots are to sort of, hang out or, you know,
for a night or two because we'll be on the road.
It's going to be madness for like six days.

Speaker 1 (05:23):
Six days. A lot of time to play with, yes.
I lived over there for four years, Jase.

Speaker 3 (05:28):
Yes.

Speaker 1 (05:29):
There's some bloody great spots that you can strop in.
Australia's got so much to offer.

Speaker 3 (05:33):
I've heard that, man.

Speaker 1 (05:34):
And also, are you getting a rental car? Yes. Or
are you going to get a motorbike?

Speaker 3 (05:38):
Oh, we did think about the motorbike with the sidecar,
but my daughter's with us as well. Yeah, go rental car. Yeah, yeah,
so we're going rental.

Speaker 4 (05:46):
What that does, whether it's the rental car or the
motorbike or the sidecar, it opens up a lot of
places off the beaten path.

Speaker 3 (05:52):
Yeah. So true. Now you're talking.

Speaker 1 (05:54):
Yes. Byron Bay is bloody beautiful.

Speaker 3 (05:57):
I've heard that. Can we just write that down? Yeah,
write that down. Byron Bay. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (06:03):
That's about, I think, four or five hours north of
Sydney there.

Speaker 3 (06:06):
Yes, yes.

Speaker 1 (06:07):
Okay, so yeah. Yeah, that's a great place to start.

Speaker 3 (06:10):
I've heard it's very pretty.

Speaker 5 (06:12):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (06:12):
It really is.

Speaker 3 (06:13):
Yes.

Speaker 1 (06:15):
Do you like surfing? Because you've been a big surfer,
I know, big wave surfer.

Speaker 3 (06:19):
Yeah, totally, man. I love my curls.

Speaker 1 (06:22):
Oh, you used to curl one out, didn't you?

Speaker 3 (06:24):
Yeah, I did, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm never happier
than when I'm in a swell.

Speaker 1 (06:29):
Then there's Adelaide. Stop in at Adelaide.

Speaker 4 (06:32):
The Brasser Valley near Adelaide is very nice.

Speaker 3 (06:34):
Very nice.

Speaker 1 (06:36):
Adelaide. Yeah, nice.

Speaker 4 (06:38):
Do you like sort of nature and seeing, you know,
like Mother Nature at her most pure?

Speaker 3 (06:44):
Like your koalas, your lorikeets, your kangaroos. Yeah, sure, certainly.

Speaker 1 (06:48):
Well, if you want to see that, Alice Springs.

Speaker 3 (06:50):
Alice Springs. This is great stuff.

Speaker 1 (06:53):
You know, one of the things, and they call this
the eighth wonder of the world, Jizz. And you simply
must go. If you're going there for that amount of.

Speaker 3 (07:01):
Time, Uluru.

Speaker 1 (07:02):
Uluru. Uluru.

Speaker 3 (07:03):
I've heard about Uluru.

Speaker 1 (07:04):
Uluru, it's massive. It'll blow your mind. It used to
be called Ears Rock.

Speaker 5 (07:08):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (07:08):
But now it's Uluru.

Speaker 4 (07:09):
I think it was called Uluru first, wasn't it?

Speaker 5 (07:11):
No, no.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
Oh, okay.

Speaker 3 (07:12):
I could climb Ears Rock and take some selfies.

Speaker 1 (07:15):
Yeah, they love it when you do that.

Speaker 3 (07:16):
Yeah, do they? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, do they? Okay.
It's on my bucket list too.

Speaker 4 (07:20):
Actually, another place, have you heard of Movie World?

Speaker 1 (07:22):
Movie World.

Speaker 3 (07:23):
Movie World.

Speaker 1 (07:25):
Honestly, you guys will love it.

Speaker 3 (07:26):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (07:26):
Because you like movies, eh? Samsung TV and all that.

Speaker 3 (07:29):
Oh, yeah, kind of.

Speaker 1 (07:31):
Well, look. What about Wet n' Wild?

Speaker 3 (07:34):
Now you're talking.

Speaker 1 (07:35):
They've got a chain of those over there.

Speaker 3 (07:36):
Yeah, Wet n' Wild? Yeah. Okay, so Byron Bay, Adelaide,
Alice Springs, and Wet n' Wild.

Speaker 1 (07:44):
And Movie World. Oh, and Movie World.

Speaker 3 (07:47):
And Uluru. Yeah, Uluru.

Speaker 1 (07:49):
Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 4 (07:50):
And if anyone else has got any good suggestions, by
the way, 3483, let us know because Jason's got six
whole days.

Speaker 1 (07:55):
That's ages.

Speaker 3 (07:56):
I'd love to hear from you on 3483. In the meantime,
here's Alice in Chains. Doosh, doosh.

Speaker 1 (08:00):
Doosh, doosh.

Speaker 2 (08:04):
The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.

Speaker 3 (08:10):
Kings of Leon there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show
this Wednesday afternoon. The time is 4.26 and Hoiti J
is on holiday very shortly and he's doing a roadie
from Sydney to Melbourne. And I've been asking for suggestions
from the audience, you fellas having been experienced travellers yourselves.
You've recommended Byron's Bay. Adelaide.

Speaker 1 (08:32):
Byron Bay.

Speaker 3 (08:33):
Byron Bay. Yeah. Adelaide. Alice Springs. What was the wet one?
Wet and Wild. Wet and Wild. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (08:42):
And Movie World as well. And Uluru.

Speaker 5 (08:45):
Uluru.

Speaker 4 (08:45):
Because you've got six days. You can easily tackle most
of that in like three.

Speaker 3 (08:48):
Yeah. Okay, good.

Speaker 4 (08:50):
Another place that a lot of people from Aussie go
on holiday is Bali.

Speaker 3 (08:54):
Oh, they love it.

Speaker 1 (08:55):
Have you heard of Bali?

Speaker 3 (08:55):
I have, actually, yeah. It's great.

Speaker 4 (08:57):
It's essentially Australia.

Speaker 3 (08:58):
That's like a sort of party town, though, isn't it?

Speaker 4 (09:00):
Yeah, no, there's chill parts of it, yoga and that.

Speaker 3 (09:03):
Oh, yes.

Speaker 1 (09:03):
Unofficial capital of Australia.

Speaker 3 (09:05):
Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's a Bali.

Speaker 1 (09:07):
You can go to the actual capital, Darwin.

Speaker 3 (09:10):
Darwin?

Speaker 1 (09:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (09:11):
Why not? Well, that would be quite nice, go to
the capital. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, 100%. Yeah, cool.

Speaker 1 (09:17):
It's a Bali. There's a text that's come through here
on 3483 recommending Nimbin.

Speaker 3 (09:24):
Nimbin. Nimbin.

Speaker 1 (09:26):
Now, Nimbin, you drive down the street and people just
knock on your window and off you get the weed. Oh, really?
The devil's weed. Wow.

Speaker 3 (09:35):
The devil's lettuce.

Speaker 1 (09:35):
Also, they give you the old mushrooms there, the old mushies.

Speaker 3 (09:40):
What, for a stir fry or something like that?

Speaker 1 (09:42):
Yeah, like that. Stir fry's your brain. Or beef wellington.

Speaker 3 (09:45):
Yeah. Oh, yeah.

Speaker 1 (09:46):
Whatever you're into there. Rottnest Island.

Speaker 3 (09:49):
Oh, nice. Rottnest.

Speaker 1 (09:51):
Is that how it's called? Is that what it's called? Yeah,
Rottnest Island, yeah. It's where they've got the quokkas.

Speaker 3 (09:54):
The quokkas.

Speaker 1 (09:54):
They're the little beavery-looking things.

Speaker 3 (09:57):
Oh, yes.

Speaker 1 (09:57):
And people get selfies with them. Yeah, because they look
like they're smiling.

Speaker 3 (10:01):
Right, okay.

Speaker 1 (10:02):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 4 (10:02):
And the text here says Jase could probably saddle one
up and take it for a spin around the island.

Speaker 1 (10:06):
He could. Yeah, good.

Speaker 3 (10:08):
Because they'd be pretty cute. Where would I find some platypus?

Speaker 1 (10:14):
That's not. Do you mean multiple? Jase?

Speaker 3 (10:19):
No, just a platypus.

Speaker 1 (10:21):
You've always wanted to see a platypus. Yes.

Speaker 3 (10:24):
Don't they have them in Australia?

Speaker 1 (10:26):
Yeah, they're Australian. They are indigenous.

Speaker 3 (10:29):
Okay. Yeah. The platypus.

Speaker 1 (10:32):
Great tip here from Kurt. Go to Great Barrier Reef.

Speaker 3 (10:34):
Oh, I've heard that. Yeah, it's really good.

Speaker 1 (10:36):
That's on the way to Melbourne, apparently, which is cool.

Speaker 3 (10:39):
So I'd have to pack my sort of aqua gear.

Speaker 4 (10:41):
Oh, they'll have your aqua gear. They'll have aqua gear there, man,
so you should be sweet.

Speaker 3 (10:45):
Oh, you reckon I could hire it?

Speaker 1 (10:46):
Yeah, 100%.

Speaker 3 (10:46):
Yeah, I just don't know that they'd have my size, Keezy.

Speaker 1 (10:49):
I guess the bigger problem for you, though, outside of
the size, is that you can't swim.

Speaker 3 (10:53):
There is that. But you're attached to a rope and
they just pull you down, don't they?

Speaker 1 (10:57):
Well, they actually attach you to some of the sea life,
so dolphin, shark, you name it.

Speaker 3 (11:01):
Oh, that'd be special.

Speaker 4 (11:03):
It would be, but you get to choose what thing
you're attached to.

Speaker 3 (11:06):
Right, okay. I'd probably go dolphin or a platypus.

Speaker 1 (11:10):
I recommend the boat. Oh, the boat, okay.

Speaker 4 (11:13):
So do you think platypus swim in the sea?

Speaker 3 (11:15):
Yeah, they do, don't they? They can. Right.

Speaker 1 (11:19):
Yeah, yeah. They're usually in the river, though, you find
a platypus there. They sort of hang out with your crocodiles,
et cetera, et cetera. Have you ever ridden a crocodile?

Speaker 3 (11:28):
Never have.

Speaker 4 (11:30):
Look, Jase, the good news is these are all things
that you can do whilst you're on your six-day holiday.

Speaker 1 (11:35):
Are you into shopping?

Speaker 3 (11:36):
Love it.

Speaker 1 (11:37):
They have really good malls over there.

Speaker 3 (11:38):
Oh, they do?

Speaker 1 (11:39):
Oh, yes. You go to the mall.

Speaker 3 (11:40):
They have like Woolworths and stuff?

Speaker 1 (11:42):
Do they?

Speaker 3 (11:43):
They do. Oh, okay.

Speaker 1 (11:44):
Yes.

Speaker 3 (11:45):
I'll tell you what I really want to get into,
and I hope I'll see a lot of, bin chickens.

Speaker 2 (11:50):
The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. One simple question.
One weekend of a lifetime. Would you rather.

Speaker 3 (12:03):
Yes, indeed. Waz or cars, that is the question. You decide,
New Zealand.

Speaker 4 (12:07):
It'll be interesting to see what happens, fellas. If, heaven forbid,
and I'm going to the game, I don't want this
to happen, but if the Waz were to lose this weekend,
whether the sort of ratio of people choosing Bathurst over
the finals would start to tilt just a little bit.

Speaker 1 (12:22):
Yeah, probably. Yeah, just because people start to get a
bit nervous.

Speaker 3 (12:25):
I'm really excited about the game on safety.

Speaker 1 (12:28):
So am I.

Speaker 3 (12:29):
It's going to be doozy, I reckon.

Speaker 1 (12:32):
I think we're either going to smash them. I think
we're probably going to smash them or lose.

Speaker 3 (12:36):
Smash them or lose.

Speaker 1 (12:37):
That's my vibe. Or it's going to be a close one.

Speaker 3 (12:39):
Yeah, nice.

Speaker 1 (12:40):
Or a draw.

Speaker 3 (12:41):
Or a draw. Yeah, very close.

Speaker 4 (12:43):
Don't forget.

Speaker 1 (12:44):
We've got a golden point. Yeah. Imagine that. That would
be a ripper.

Speaker 3 (12:48):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (12:48):
Have you heard about golden point, Jase?

Speaker 3 (12:50):
Yeah, man.

Speaker 1 (12:51):
Good stuff. Should we go to the lines?

Speaker 3 (12:53):
Love a bit of golden point.

Speaker 1 (12:55):
Yeah, man.

Speaker 3 (12:55):
G'day, Stephanie. How's life?

Speaker 5 (12:57):
Hey, it's good. Thank you.

Speaker 3 (12:59):
Good on you, mate. Have you had a good day, Stephanie?

Speaker 5 (13:02):
Oh, yeah, nothing too taxing.

Speaker 3 (13:03):
Oh, yeah, that's nice. And what do you do for
a crust?

Speaker 5 (13:06):
So I work in new vehicle car sales.

Speaker 1 (13:10):
Oh, yeah, that's good. Would you regard yourself, Stephanie, as
a mad bastard?

Speaker 3 (13:16):
Oh, absolutely. Yeah, I thought so.

Speaker 1 (13:18):
It's good best to be honest.

Speaker 3 (13:19):
Yeah, I think so.

Speaker 4 (13:20):
Up front so we know what we're dealing with, Stephanie.
Am I right in saying, Stephanie, that you went online
and joined the great New Zealanders club at hodaki.co.nz?

Speaker 1 (13:28):
Is that right? I did.

Speaker 4 (13:29):
I did. So Stephanie got a heads up as to
when the cuticle was going to play today.

Speaker 1 (13:33):
Oh, what a backbite.

Speaker 3 (13:34):
What a massive backbite. Inside info.

Speaker 4 (13:36):
Boom. There's going to be another one playing at some
point on the show later if you want to get.

Speaker 1 (13:40):
A head start on that one.

Speaker 4 (13:42):
Head to hodaki.co.nz, join the Great New Zealanders Club like
Stephanie asked. But what are you choosing, Grand Final or Bathurst?

Speaker 5 (13:48):
Okay, so I would absolutely choose the Grand Final. However,
we're already locked and loaded and going.

Speaker 1 (13:56):
Oh! That's bad right shit. I'll see you there, Stephanie.

Speaker 5 (14:00):
Yeah, awesome. We'll make that a date.

Speaker 3 (14:02):
Yeah, let's do that.

Speaker 1 (14:03):
Let's do that.

Speaker 4 (14:05):
Ah, bloody good. So you're choosing Bathurst? Yeah.

Speaker 3 (14:08):
Why not?

Speaker 5 (14:08):
So I'd be a good wife, and I might even
just send hubby and the lad over instead. So, you know.

Speaker 3 (14:13):
That's the one. What a massive name, Stephanie.

Speaker 4 (14:15):
Wait, so, sorry, Stephanie's going to catch up with Mogi
for a day. Yes. Grand final and send the husband.

Speaker 3 (14:21):
And the lad. I see. I see. Oh, yeah.

Speaker 1 (14:25):
You hold the line, Stephanie. Pugs will sort you out,
all right?

Speaker 3 (14:28):
Okay, thanks. Thanks, mate. G'day, Andy, you mad bastard. How's life?

Speaker 5 (14:33):
Good, you mad bastard.

Speaker 3 (14:35):
Yeah, good stuff, mate. Tell me, Andy, what do you
do for a crust?

Speaker 5 (14:40):
I work in the supply chain. Oh, yeah.

Speaker 1 (14:41):
Oh, yeah. The old supply chain. What does that mean?

Speaker 4 (14:45):
Whereabouts specifically, Andy? Whereabouts in the chain?

Speaker 5 (14:48):
Yeah, so I'm in Auckland doing a lot of the
purchasing for pharmaceutical products. Oh, yeah.

Speaker 3 (14:54):
Yeah, nice, nice, nice. Good stuff.

Speaker 1 (14:56):
Good on you, Andy.

Speaker 4 (14:57):
And are you thinking Bathurst or are you thinking the
grand final?

Speaker 5 (15:00):
Oh, motorsports. There's got to be a weekend of cars
at Bathurst.

Speaker 3 (15:04):
Yeah, good on you, man. Sounds good, mate. Good on you.
Tell me, Andy, who would you take with you?

Speaker 5 (15:09):
My drinking buddy, Willie.

Speaker 3 (15:11):
Oh, Willie's a sick son of a bitch.

Speaker 1 (15:14):
He's a shocking bastard.

Speaker 4 (15:15):
All right, Andy, well, you and Willie, you're both in
the draw.

Speaker 1 (15:18):
All right? Good luck.

Speaker 5 (15:19):
Fantastic.

Speaker 3 (15:20):
Rock on. Rock on, mate.

Speaker 1 (15:22):
I wonder if Willie can get us any syringes, Jase.

Speaker 3 (15:25):
Yeah, maybe.

Speaker 5 (15:25):
Maybe.

Speaker 1 (15:26):
Or Andy. I was thinking about Willie there. I'm always
thinking about Willie there. Classic mogey. Hey, another chance to
win later on in the show. Keep an ear out.
Get ready to call 0800 HODAKI.

Speaker 3 (15:41):
In the meantime, here's Arctic Monkeys.

Speaker 2 (15:44):
The HODAKI Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio HODAKI.

Speaker 3 (15:48):
Led Zeppelin there on the HODAKI Big Show this Wednesday afternoon.
The time is 4.50. Let's talk TV. What's on the
telly with Mike Minogue.

Speaker 1 (16:02):
Yeah!

Speaker 3 (16:03):
That's right.

Speaker 1 (16:05):
Last night, fellas, I didn't watch any TV at all.
I went to a play.

Speaker 3 (16:09):
How very cultured of you, Mogi.

Speaker 1 (16:11):
Do you know where it was, man?

Speaker 3 (16:13):
The basement?

Speaker 1 (16:13):
The theatre. Oh, right. The basement theatre.

Speaker 3 (16:17):
Theatre.

Speaker 1 (16:19):
But you're going to it tonight, Joe, so I can't
review it.

Speaker 3 (16:21):
Yes.

Speaker 5 (16:22):
Okay?

Speaker 1 (16:22):
I'll have to wait.

Speaker 3 (16:24):
Fellas, I just carried on with the show. I think
I've talked about it already. The Tudors.

Speaker 1 (16:30):
I've never heard of it.

Speaker 3 (16:31):
King Henry VIII engages in a dispute with the Roman
Catholic Church to get his first marriage annulled. Later, he
goes on to marry six times and lays the foundation
for the Church of England.

Speaker 1 (16:44):
Is that with the guy with the eyes here, Jonathan Rees,
something or other?

Speaker 3 (16:48):
Myers.

Speaker 1 (16:49):
Myers, yeah.

Speaker 3 (16:49):
Yes, it is. Good-looking fella. Natalie Dormer?

Speaker 4 (16:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (16:53):
Famous, of course, for Game of Thrones.

Speaker 1 (16:54):
Game of Thrones, yeah.

Speaker 3 (16:56):
And she plays Anne Boleyn.

Speaker 1 (16:58):
Is Anne Boleyn the first wife or the one he
falls in love with? Are you saying Anne Boleyn?

Speaker 3 (17:04):
Anne Boleyn. Oh, Anne Boleyn. Yeah, yeah. And the thing
is with her is he falls in love with her.

Speaker 1 (17:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (17:11):
Or should I say, in lust.

Speaker 1 (17:13):
Oh, yeah.

Speaker 3 (17:14):
And she's like, no siree, Bob. Not until you marry me,
there shall be no relations of that kind.

Speaker 1 (17:21):
Thank you.

Speaker 4 (17:22):
But his bed's annulling, right, essentially.

Speaker 3 (17:25):
Yes, but his first wife is like, no, I'm not
having that. No, no. You can't divorce me and it's
against God. And the Pope says, that's right, it's against God.
And he's going, what? I'm the king, damn it.

Speaker 1 (17:36):
It's a good trick though, isn't it? Because what I
always do when my wife won't let me have an
affair and the Pope won't let me have an affair
is I invent a new church so that I can
have as many affairs as I want. That's actually a
good strategy. It's a good trick.

Speaker 3 (17:50):
The Church of Mogi.

Speaker 1 (17:54):
It's good, though.

Speaker 3 (17:54):
It's good. I like a period drama. It's pretty well acted. Yeah.
I'll give it a solid 3.3 out of 5, Buzzy.

Speaker 1 (18:01):
What's it called? The Tudors.

Speaker 3 (18:02):
The Tudors.

Speaker 1 (18:03):
And that's on?

Speaker 3 (18:04):
Netflix.

Speaker 4 (18:05):
Last night, fellas, I watched the show finale of Australian rom-com...
Colin from Accounts. Four seasons, or is it three seasons?
Can't remember there. It's on TVNZ +. Really, really good show.

Speaker 1 (18:17):
A lot of laughs.

Speaker 4 (18:18):
A lot of heart.

Speaker 1 (18:19):
Did very well over in the UK.

Speaker 4 (18:21):
They've won, I think, a few BAFTAs and things like that.

Speaker 3 (18:24):
Nice.

Speaker 4 (18:24):
Really interesting seeing the likes of these Aussie actors and
writers who I really like. rubbing shoulders with huge-name UK
comedians who I also like.

Speaker 1 (18:32):
Very interesting. Final show was All G.

Speaker 3 (18:36):
Okay, it was a massive disappointment, obviously.

Speaker 4 (18:39):
Well, no, I feel like the show was almost set
up so it could keep going, but they were like,
you know what, stuff it, we're done. And so it
does finish, and they wrapped up everyone, and they tried
to bring all the characters from throughout the seasons back,
but I couldn't remember a lot of them.

Speaker 3 (18:52):
Right, okay.

Speaker 1 (18:53):
Who's that guy? Okay. So it was fine. It wasn't
as good.

Speaker 4 (18:56):
For example, the night before last, I watched the season
finale of season one of Outrageous Fortune, and that wrapped
things up really, really nicely.

Speaker 1 (19:03):
Whereas this one was fine. They've fallen into the Seinfeld trap,
which they did at the end of that. They were
being tried for a crime in a small town. They
brought back all of the characters as character witnesses.

Speaker 5 (19:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (19:15):
And instead of just focusing on the core cast, they
sort of made it a trip down memory lane and
no one cared.

Speaker 4 (19:20):
But it wasn't as on the nose as that.

Speaker 3 (19:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (19:24):
They were weaved in. Yeah, it was fine.

Speaker 4 (19:26):
My wife and I were both like, oh, it was
probably one of the weaker episodes.

Speaker 1 (19:29):
Oh, sure. But all the other episodes are great.

Speaker 4 (19:30):
I still highly recommend it.

Speaker 1 (19:32):
Can you give us a ranking on the series as
a whole, Keezy?

Speaker 4 (19:37):
The series as a whole, out of the five buzzies,
I would give the series as a whole four buzzies
out of five.

Speaker 1 (19:42):
Great.

Speaker 4 (19:42):
Because it's Aussie comedy. I have a soft spot for
them in New Zealand. And it exceeded my expectations.

Speaker 1 (19:48):
There you go.

Speaker 4 (19:48):
TVNZ Plus, Colin from Accounts.

Speaker 1 (19:50):
Get it in you.

Speaker 3 (19:51):
Here's the Black Keys.

Speaker 2 (19:54):
The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.

Speaker 3 (20:00):
Yeah, welcome back, you massive bag bones. Hope you're getting
through your hump day OK. You're listening to The Big Show,
by the way, brought to you by Reburg Air.

Speaker 4 (20:08):
Craveworthy street food freshly made with Reburg Air.

Speaker 3 (20:12):
I can't believe it.

Speaker 1 (20:14):
It's street food, but.

Speaker 3 (20:16):
It's so unbelievably crave-worthy.

Speaker 1 (20:19):
Yes, and they have beef, chicken, vegan and vegetarian options. Yum.

Speaker 5 (20:27):
Yum.

Speaker 3 (20:28):
Sure is. In all seriousness, if you've never tried Ree Burger,
give it a nudge. It's bloody top quality.

Speaker 4 (20:35):
Certainly is, Jase. 40 stores nationwide now.

Speaker 1 (20:38):
Yeah, man.

Speaker 3 (20:38):
Well, there's a reason for that, Keezy, because people love it.

Speaker 1 (20:40):
Because they love it.

Speaker 3 (20:41):
They love it.

Speaker 1 (20:42):
And also because of the big show, obviously. Yeah, well.
I think that's really the driver in it. Do we
have a percentage of the company? Do we own, we
must own half of it or something? Or at least
one store. Half of one store?

Speaker 3 (20:52):
Yeah, I think so.

Speaker 1 (20:52):
Thank you. What about one store each? What about, why
don't we have a store each in our houses? That
would rule. Just for us.

Speaker 3 (20:59):
I did actually look into buying a re-burger.

Speaker 1 (21:01):
You did.

Speaker 3 (21:02):
You did.

Speaker 1 (21:03):
Just what, the burger or the whole joint?

Speaker 3 (21:05):
Just a burger. No, a joint.

Speaker 1 (21:10):
Are you going to buy a joint? I'm keen, man.
I think that's illegal. 100%. Oh, I mean, yeah, don't
do that.

Speaker 3 (21:16):
A little bit outside my range, even with my dog
squad money.

Speaker 1 (21:19):
Buying a re-burger or a joint?

Speaker 4 (21:21):
Why don't you instead buy a joint and an actual
re-burger burger?

Speaker 3 (21:25):
Yes.

Speaker 1 (21:25):
And that'll be a great night. Not bad. Not bad
at all. It's actually illegal that I was joking, mate.
You can't agree to that stuff on the radio.

Speaker 3 (21:33):
You'd get in trouble, man.

Speaker 1 (21:34):
Sorry, man. You're fired. So you're fired, yeah.

Speaker 3 (21:37):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (21:38):
No, you're just fired.

Speaker 3 (21:39):
Here's Velvet Revolver.

Speaker 2 (21:41):
The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.

Speaker 3 (21:47):
Yes, indeed. Radiohead there on the Radio Hodaki Big Show
this Wednesday afternoon. The time is exactly 15 minutes past five.

Speaker 1 (21:57):
Fellas, I've got a bit of a conundrum, and I
was wondering if you could help me out.

Speaker 3 (22:00):
Sure.

Speaker 1 (22:01):
Just listen to this, Keezy. See what you think, man. Okay. Okay,
you too, Jase.

Speaker 3 (22:04):
Okay.

Speaker 4 (22:05):
Do you want me to play the conundrum music?

Speaker 1 (22:07):
If you've got some. Makes you feel better about your conundrums.
I've got a mate and he and I have long
enjoyed watching the Warriors together.

Speaker 3 (22:20):
It's very bonding, isn't it?

Speaker 1 (22:22):
It is very bonding.

Speaker 4 (22:24):
It's super bonding.

Speaker 1 (22:26):
Everybody knows that the right way to say it is
that it's bonding.

Speaker 3 (22:29):
When you were around at my joint the other day,
how bonding was that with all three of us backbones
watching it together?

Speaker 1 (22:35):
It's one of the most bonding things ever. So over
20 years I've been watching games with this backbone. We
F and Jeff at the screen together. We go out
to games together, all sorts of carry-ons. This weekend I'm
trying to book a, well, I have booked a table
at a bar, and I've said, you know, what time
should we get there? I've sent out the group chat.
He's one of them. What time should we get there? Also,

(22:55):
if you want to bring anybody else, let me know.
I'll need to adjust the booking, et cetera, et cetera.
Everyone's really excited, obviously. It's a final game for the Waz.
This is why we do it, Gizzy, isn't it? All
these years of supporters say that we get to the finals,
you get to enjoy it. Totally, man. This mate of mine,
let's call him John. John? Only because that's his name. Yeah, okay.

(23:17):
Let's call him that. Let's show him a little bit
of respect, all right? Okay. Because that's his name. John
messaged back and said, don't know if I'm going to
be able to make it. I've got a gig I've
got to go to. Oh, what? So he's saying that
he's not going to come. He said, I might be
able to watch 20 minutes of it, and then I've
got to go to this gig. What a conundrum.

Speaker 4 (23:37):
Who's the person that's coming?

Speaker 1 (23:39):
It's the Australian musician Chet Faker. Chet Faker.

Speaker 3 (23:43):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (23:43):
He's fine. Yeah, sweet.

Speaker 3 (23:44):
I get it.

Speaker 1 (23:45):
That's a disgrace. So I'm just wondering if I should
dump him.

Speaker 3 (23:54):
Yes.

Speaker 1 (23:55):
Thank you. Well, I mean, it's tricky, right?

Speaker 4 (23:57):
Because he's obviously a big Chet Faker fan.

Speaker 1 (24:00):
First I've heard, man. I tell you what, I know
he's a big Waz fan because for 20 years we've
been watching the game.

Speaker 3 (24:05):
Together.

Speaker 1 (24:05):
For 20 years we've been effing and jeffing at the screen.
For 20 years we've been riding the wave of support
for the Waz that has gone here and there. And finally,
it hasn't been an uninterrupted downward trajectory. It's actually heading
up in the right direction. To a possible premiership, Keezy.

Speaker 5 (24:20):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (24:20):
And in all of those times that I've been with him,
watching the game, cheering, effing and jeffing, not once has
he ever mentioned the words Chet Faker.

Speaker 2 (24:28):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (24:29):
Not once.

Speaker 3 (24:29):
Can I put it in context? I've known Keezy five
odd years, right?

Speaker 5 (24:34):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (24:36):
We've watched a bit of Waz together.

Speaker 1 (24:38):
Oh, you love it.

Speaker 3 (24:39):
Have we?

Speaker 1 (24:39):
Once.

Speaker 3 (24:40):
And when I heard he was going to the game,
I moved heaven and earth to make sure that I've
got the seat next to him.

Speaker 1 (24:46):
Yes.

Speaker 3 (24:46):
You know what I mean? And we've only known each
other five years. You're talking 20 at a bar, Mogi.
I paid triple so I could sit next to Keezy
and his lovely wife.

Speaker 4 (24:58):
Actually, do you want to tell your mate there's a
couple of tickets going to that game, Mogi? Maybe that'll
change his mind. This is Chet Faker now, Jase.

Speaker 1 (25:08):
Is it? Nah, it's looking back.

Speaker 2 (25:11):
The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki. One simple question.
One weekend of a lifetime.

Speaker 1 (25:21):
Would you rather?

Speaker 3 (25:24):
I've just realised something, fellas. Just as a bit of
a sideline here before we get into this because it's huge.
Pugs gives me a certain look sometimes and I've been
looking at it going, Who does that remind me of?
And it reminds me of the look my youngest daughter
gives me when she thinks I'm being an idiot.

Speaker 1 (25:46):
Oh, yeah.

Speaker 3 (25:46):
It's the same look.

Speaker 1 (25:48):
Pity, sort of like a loathing mix with a pity.

Speaker 3 (25:51):
Yes, disdainful. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But I tell you what's
not disdainful, Waz versus Kaz.

Speaker 4 (25:58):
Are you talking about the NRL grand final or Bathurst?

Speaker 1 (26:01):
Your choice. both provided by boyschip.co.nz.

Speaker 4 (26:04):
All you have to do is call 0800 HODUCKY, get
yourself in the draw.

Speaker 1 (26:08):
Shall we go to the Lions, fellas?

Speaker 3 (26:09):
Yeah, let's do it. G'day, Steve, you mad bastard. How's life?

Speaker 6 (26:13):
Yeah, it's awesome. It's awesome. How about yourself?

Speaker 1 (26:15):
It is, isn't it?

Speaker 3 (26:16):
It is awesome, man, it is.

Speaker 4 (26:17):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (26:17):
What do you do for a crust, Steve?

Speaker 6 (26:20):
I work maintenance in a paper mill.

Speaker 3 (26:23):
Oh, yeah? Backbone. Backbone, mate. Is that a.

Speaker 1 (26:25):
Dangerous job, Steve?

Speaker 6 (26:28):
I guess it can be. You know, you do your
best to keep all your... fingers on the end of
your hands, but some people don't make it.

Speaker 3 (26:36):
Yeah, I could see you losing a limb pretty quickly, Keezy,
in that job. Because you get all woozy and you
don't concentrate. Do I?

Speaker 1 (26:43):
What, when I'm in a paper mill?

Speaker 3 (26:45):
Yeah, totally.

Speaker 1 (26:46):
Yeah, true, that's true.

Speaker 4 (26:47):
Hey, Steve, are you thinking Bathurst or Grand Final, man?

Speaker 6 (26:51):
Oh, definitely be Cars, be the Bathurst.

Speaker 3 (26:53):
Oh, okay. And who would you take with you, Steve?

Speaker 6 (26:56):
I might take my partner if she behaves herself enough.

Speaker 3 (27:00):
Oh, yeah, that's a way. You tell her, man.

Speaker 1 (27:02):
You're in the draw, Steve.

Speaker 3 (27:04):
All right, you hold the line.

Speaker 6 (27:05):
No worries. Thank you.

Speaker 3 (27:06):
Good on you, mate. G'day, Liam, you man. Bassett, how's life?

Speaker 1 (27:10):
Hey, Jay. How are you, mate?

Speaker 3 (27:11):
Yeah, good. Thanks, mate. Can't complain. What do you do
for a crust, Liam?

Speaker 1 (27:16):
I'm a builder.

Speaker 3 (27:16):
Oh, yeah.

Speaker 2 (27:17):
Oh, backbone.

Speaker 3 (27:18):
Backbone. And how's beautiful Christchurch City today? It's stunning, bro. Yeah. Beautiful.

Speaker 1 (27:26):
I heard it was 34 degrees today there, man. Is
that true?

Speaker 3 (27:30):
No, I don't reckon it felt that hot, but definitely
not bad.

Speaker 1 (27:34):
Hey, Liam, what are you building at the moment, man? Oh, true.

Speaker 3 (27:37):
Just townhouses, folks. Oh, bloody townhouses.

Speaker 1 (27:41):
Any off-street parking, Liam?

Speaker 3 (27:44):
Not much, folks. Yeah. That's all right. Yeah, that'd be right.

Speaker 1 (27:47):
That's all right. My favourite, man.

Speaker 3 (27:48):
Good on you, mate.

Speaker 4 (27:49):
Hey, Liam, what are you thinking, grand final or Bathurst, mate?

Speaker 3 (27:52):
Grand final all day. Yeah, good on you. Good on you, mate.

Speaker 1 (27:55):
You're in the draw there, mate. Hold the line. Pugs
will sort you out.

Speaker 4 (27:58):
And fellas, just quickly, let's put another person in the
draw just.

Speaker 3 (28:00):
Because we can.

Speaker 2 (28:02):
G'day, Anna.

Speaker 1 (28:02):
How you going?

Speaker 6 (28:04):
Hey, good.

Speaker 1 (28:05):
Thank you.

Speaker 3 (28:05):
That's great. So how's beautiful Dunedin today, Anna?

Speaker 6 (28:08):
Oh, stunning as always.

Speaker 1 (28:11):
I heard it was eight degrees there today.

Speaker 3 (28:13):
Is that true?

Speaker 1 (28:14):
No, not that high. Oh, yes.

Speaker 3 (28:17):
Come on, Mogi. Tell me, Anna, what do you do
for a crust?

Speaker 5 (28:21):
I'm a graphic designer.

Speaker 4 (28:23):
And are you thinking Bathurst or Grand.

Speaker 1 (28:26):
Final, Anna?

Speaker 5 (28:28):
It's got to be the Grand Final.

Speaker 6 (28:30):
I won't be allowed home if I pick.

Speaker 4 (28:32):
The other one.

Speaker 1 (28:32):
Yeah, fair enough. You're in the draw. Pugs will look
after you, all right?

Speaker 3 (28:38):
Awesome.

Speaker 5 (28:39):
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (28:39):
No worries.

Speaker 3 (28:40):
Thank you, Anna. She seemed lovely, didn't she?

Speaker 4 (28:43):
Certainly did, Jase. More chances to get yourself in the
draw tomorrow on Hodaki. Later on this hour, though, keep listening.
We do have a double pass to the Warriors home
game this weekend.

Speaker 5 (28:51):
To give away.

Speaker 1 (28:52):
How good.

Speaker 3 (28:52):
I've got my phone poised and ready.

Speaker 1 (28:54):
Jase, you can't win it.

Speaker 3 (28:55):
What do you mean?

Speaker 4 (28:55):
And up next, we've got Johnny Brough and Jackie Van
Beekfellis to discuss a brand.

Speaker 1 (29:00):
New comedy New Zealand movie. How good.

Speaker 2 (29:04):
The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.

Speaker 3 (29:10):
Welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope your Wednesday night's absolutely
going off. You're listening to The Big Show brought to
you by Reburger.

Speaker 4 (29:18):
Handcrafted burgers, loaded fries and gourmet eats that will change
the game.

Speaker 3 (29:22):
Mmm, yummy. Yeah, great stuff. What's on the plate tonight?

Speaker 1 (29:28):
That's a good question, Hoity J. I'm not too sure, mate.
As you know, I never know. Last night was a
nice surprise.

Speaker 3 (29:34):
I was going to ask, yes.

Speaker 1 (29:35):
Last night was a nice surprise. I got home and
everybody had gone out for dinner. Oh. Oh, that's a
nice time. Who cares? Yeah. Not a word to me.
Didn't know anything about it. Got home. Nobody there. Everybody
out for dinner.

Speaker 4 (29:50):
Because it was your wife, obviously, her brother.

Speaker 1 (29:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (29:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (29:54):
Mother, sister, all of them. Family dinner, yeah. Yeah, my
daughter as well, obviously, out there as well. And look,
I don't fault them for that. Yeah. I hope they
had a lovely time. But it would have been nice
to be invited.

Speaker 3 (30:05):
Yeah. Yeah, I hear you, man.

Speaker 1 (30:06):
Would you have gone? No. No, it was nice to
be at home by myself.

Speaker 3 (30:09):
Yeah, a bit of spare time, a bit of you
down time. A bit of mogey time in the lounge there.

Speaker 1 (30:14):
Yeah, nice. Easy.

Speaker 3 (30:15):
Nice.

Speaker 4 (30:17):
Jase, what are you having for dinner tonight, man?

Speaker 3 (30:19):
I'm yet to decide.

Speaker 1 (30:21):
What do you think? Hmm. You know what would be nice?
Some of that ham from the other week. A nice
little toasted sandwich there. It's all gone, Maggie. Damn it.

Speaker 3 (30:31):
We biffed it about four days ago.

Speaker 1 (30:34):
You biffed it?

Speaker 3 (30:35):
Well, we ate most of it.

Speaker 1 (30:37):
We were quite clear that we wanted some of that ham.
Now you're throwing it in the bin?

Speaker 3 (30:42):
Well, I was down to the bone.

Speaker 4 (30:45):
Oh, you threw away the bone. I would have gnawed
on that.

Speaker 3 (30:48):
I know you would have.

Speaker 1 (30:49):
Well, then why'd you throw it away? But what is
for dinner, though?

Speaker 3 (30:52):
What do you reckon? I don't know.

Speaker 1 (30:53):
Are you not listening?

Speaker 3 (30:56):
Recommend something for me. My wife's meeting me.

Speaker 1 (30:59):
Well, I suggested a toasted sandwich, and you poo-pooed it.

Speaker 3 (31:03):
Actually, I've got a toasty, I think, Keezy.

Speaker 1 (31:05):
A toasty. All right, cool.

Speaker 3 (31:06):
That's good.

Speaker 1 (31:07):
What are you having, Keezy, man? Oh, yeah. Yum. She-Hard. Mmm.

Speaker 4 (31:12):
Mmm.

Speaker 3 (31:13):
Is that a restaurant? Yeah.

Speaker 2 (31:15):
The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.

Speaker 3 (31:20):
Yes, indeed, the killers there on the Radio Hauraki Big
Show this Wednesday evening. The time is 14 minutes past
6 o'clock.

Speaker 4 (31:28):
Hey, fellas, I'm pretty sure that Warriors cuticle just played.
Of course, that means that literally the very first person
to get through.

Speaker 1 (31:40):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (31:41):
On 0800 HODAKI, instantly gets a double pass to this
weekend's sold-out home final, which I am going to.

Speaker 3 (31:46):
Hell good.

Speaker 1 (31:47):
I'm bloody fizzed up. Let's just go to number one, right?

Speaker 3 (31:49):
Yeah, let's do it, man. Here we go. G'day, Michael,
you mad bastard. How's life? Yeah, good.

Speaker 1 (31:54):
How are you, mad bastard?

Speaker 3 (31:55):
Yeah, good.

Speaker 1 (31:56):
Thanks, mate.

Speaker 3 (31:58):
Obviously, Michael, I'm picking you're a bit of a Waz fan. Yeah, man.

Speaker 5 (32:02):
Had my phone on the, thumb on the phone then waiting.

Speaker 1 (32:05):
We're just going to say what, we're just going to
ask you what your strategy was, mate, because you were quick.
You were quick.

Speaker 5 (32:11):
I've had my thumb on the phone since bloody East Tamaki.
I'm back out West Auckland now.

Speaker 1 (32:15):
Good on you, brother. Now, I only got one rule here, man,
and this has been going on. We've noticed a lot
of these tickets that went for sale for the final
on Saturday afternoon there, Saturday evening. They've been shown up
on Trade Me.

Speaker 3 (32:28):
Nah.

Speaker 1 (32:28):
You're not allowed to stick them on Trade Me, man.
You've got to go to the game. Can you do that?

Speaker 3 (32:32):
Definitely.

Speaker 1 (32:33):
Good on you, mate.

Speaker 3 (32:34):
Who are you going to take, Michael? My son's been
asked him to.

Speaker 1 (32:37):
How good. Harold's your son. I've got to take my son,
I think. How old is he? He's 10.

Speaker 3 (32:44):
Oh, mate. Backbone. There you go. Well, Michael, good news, mate.

Speaker 1 (32:47):
You're going to the game this weekend, brother.

Speaker 3 (32:50):
Goza. Up the waz. Up the waz.

Speaker 1 (32:52):
See you there, Michael. Have a bloody great time, all right?

Speaker 3 (32:55):
How good.

Speaker 5 (32:55):
Good, guys.

Speaker 3 (32:56):
Thank you. Good on you, mate. No worries.

Speaker 1 (32:58):
Hold the line there.

Speaker 3 (33:00):
His son will be fizzing.

Speaker 1 (33:01):
His son's never known the Warriors to be terrible. I've
got a problem with that. There is something in that,
isn't there? There is.

Speaker 4 (33:07):
Being there when they were absolutely shit.

Speaker 3 (33:10):
Yeah, but even then I was still a massive Wiles fan.

Speaker 5 (33:13):
Were you?

Speaker 3 (33:14):
You know what I mean? Even through the tough times.

Speaker 1 (33:16):
Who's your all-time favourite warrior? Oh, yeah.

Speaker 3 (33:20):
Look, it's really, really hard to go past Kevin Campion.

Speaker 1 (33:25):
Kevin Campion?

Speaker 3 (33:26):
You're right.

Speaker 1 (33:26):
He did play one season there, didn't he?

Speaker 3 (33:28):
Yeah, he's a hard one. Of course, you're Stacey. I mean,
he's a legend, isn't he?

Speaker 1 (33:33):
Stacey Jones.

Speaker 4 (33:33):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (33:34):
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. It's hard, it's hard.

Speaker 1 (33:39):
It can be hard. Well, Moggy, you're a long-time fan.
Who would be yours? I'll be honest with you. I
don't think I've ever really had a favourite. I tell
you who I used to love. No, it's a lie.
Ali Mlaotiti.

Speaker 3 (33:53):
Yeah, he was great.

Speaker 1 (33:55):
Would have been my favourite. And also I loved Wade McKinnon.

Speaker 4 (33:58):
Wade McKinnon's my all-time favourite.

Speaker 3 (33:59):
When he was.

Speaker 1 (33:59):
Fullback because he would hit his shoulder. Like if somebody
got tackled, they're looking at offload, Wade McKinnon would hit
his shoulder at about a billion miles an hour through
the gap. And he might get it one time out
of 12. But when he got it, she was lights out, baby.
Bloody oath. He's my all-time favourite.

Speaker 3 (34:15):
Who was the guy that was famous for just– steaming
up the guts.

Speaker 1 (34:23):
Off the back fence. Paliacina was one of them, and
he put his head down and sort of burrowed through
the other side.

Speaker 3 (34:29):
Yeah, no, it was something like, oh, I can't remember.
Go on, have a go at it.

Speaker 1 (34:34):
Otro Ocasini.

Speaker 3 (34:35):
Thank you. There you go. Yeah, Ocasini. Yeah, he was
the dude.

Speaker 4 (34:41):
You've got that and you've got the opposite of that,
which is Ruben Wiki stopping.

Speaker 1 (34:43):
Dudes from doing that.

Speaker 3 (34:44):
Yeah, he was a legend.

Speaker 4 (34:46):
One of the all-time greats. We could sit here all
day and talk about the wars.

Speaker 3 (34:50):
Yeah, totally. I could.

Speaker 1 (34:52):
Well, let's do it then. Okay. Who do you want
to chat about next?

Speaker 2 (34:57):
The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.

Speaker 3 (35:02):
We'll see you both there on the Hodaki Big Show
this Wednesday evening. The time, 25 minutes past 6 o'clock.

Speaker 1 (35:09):
Fellas, got a bit of a dilemma.

Speaker 3 (35:11):
Oh yeah.

Speaker 1 (35:11):
Are you familiar?

Speaker 4 (35:12):
A couple of years ago, myself, my beautiful wife and
Mania and his partner, we went to Bali together.

Speaker 3 (35:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (35:19):
We went there for a friend's birthday and.

Speaker 4 (35:21):
Mania accused me of upgrading myself to premium economy whilst
he sat back there with the two partners.

Speaker 1 (35:29):
Is that when you got swimmer's ear?

Speaker 3 (35:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (35:32):
Well, one of the times, yeah. Because I also got
it in Sri Lanka and I've had it a couple
of times since.

Speaker 1 (35:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (35:38):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (35:38):
I've actually got it right now.

Speaker 3 (35:40):
But you did upgrade to.

Speaker 4 (35:43):
Yeah, but the full story is, Jase, that because my
wife and I fly to Christchurch so often, because that's
where her family's from, we, using our airpoints, get Kudu
every year. Yeah. Basically, which is nice. So we've got
the Kudu membership there. And once per year, you get
yourself a free upgrade from economy to premium economy.

Speaker 1 (36:01):
However, it's just for one person.

Speaker 4 (36:02):
Yes. So in that situation, we upgraded me. And then
I said, we'll bid for an upgrade for my wife. However,
she chose the amount.

Speaker 3 (36:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (36:10):
And she's a bit more sensible with money than old
Keezy is. So naturally, we missed out on it massively.
And so I went up there. She stayed behind.

Speaker 1 (36:17):
Yes.

Speaker 4 (36:17):
So this time, because we're going on holiday in a
few weeks' time, I was like, you get the upgrade regardless,
but we'll bid for me to join you up there.
My question is, how much would you bid for an upgrade?

Speaker 3 (36:31):
Well, I'm picking your probably because there's no way that
you'll allow your wife to go into premium economy and
you'll stay in economy.

Speaker 4 (36:39):
No, that's the deal. She gets the upgrade.

Speaker 3 (36:41):
$ 1, 500? $ 2, 000?

Speaker 1 (36:42):
Yeah, $ 3, 000. Whatever it costs.

Speaker 5 (36:45):
$ 3, 000?

Speaker 3 (36:45):
Yeah, totally.

Speaker 4 (36:46):
I should have just bought. It would have been cheaper
to actually just buy that if I was going to
do that.

Speaker 1 (36:50):
Yeah. You know what I mean? You've shared a shocker there.

Speaker 3 (36:52):
Yeah, you should have just got it done beforehand. That's
bad planning, Keezy.

Speaker 1 (36:55):
Okay, well, I didn't, right?

Speaker 4 (36:56):
So what we're going to do is just sort of
deal with the situation in.

Speaker 3 (36:59):
Front of us.

Speaker 1 (36:59):
Well, how much would... What is the difference between the
ticket prices? Because it's hard for me to guess what
you should bid if I don't know what it would
normally have cost.

Speaker 4 (37:10):
Okay, I think– I'm pretty sure it was a while
ago now we jumped on a deal. I think my
wife and I are flying to Tokyo and home for
just over $ 3, 000 all up, which is a really good deal, direct,
which is great, Air New Zealand.

Speaker 1 (37:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (37:26):
And so I think in order to go premium economy,
it would have cost probably double that at least.

Speaker 1 (37:31):
Right.

Speaker 3 (37:31):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (37:32):
You're sort of six, you know what I mean? Yes.

Speaker 4 (37:34):
I mean, I don't have that kind of cash laying around,
not Jase.

Speaker 3 (37:36):
500 bucks.

Speaker 1 (37:37):
You reckon 500? Yeah.

Speaker 4 (37:38):
Because when I open it up to bid, it sets
the default as $ 1, 000, which is crazy for a seat.

Speaker 3 (37:46):
Yeah, nah.

Speaker 1 (37:46):
Sounds like old Keezy's going to be sitting up the back.
It does, doesn't it?

Speaker 3 (37:49):
It really does. It does. By the bog there.

Speaker 1 (37:51):
Well, I don't instantly have to sit by the bog.
But you'd ask for it. Oh, true, yeah. Because you'd be,
you know.

Speaker 3 (37:57):
Yeah, straight in there. I always go business. Do you? Yeah.
One of my favorite things to do is to get
on the plane and sit down and then go down
into economy and go, ha, ha, ha, and then walk
back up to business.

Speaker 1 (38:10):
Yeah, right.

Speaker 3 (38:11):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (38:11):
Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 3 (38:12):
He does. He loves it.

Speaker 1 (38:13):
But you don't really ever fly anywhere.

Speaker 4 (38:15):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (38:15):
Yeah, I do, man.

Speaker 1 (38:17):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (38:17):
I don't know if you've heard this. I'm going to
Australia soon.

Speaker 1 (38:21):
That's pretty bad. Do you think?

Speaker 4 (38:23):
Because $ 1, 000 seems way too expensive to me.

Speaker 1 (38:25):
I'd agree.

Speaker 3 (38:26):
For a seat.

Speaker 1 (38:27):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 3 (38:28):
Seriously, I thought you'd be looking at like $ 150, $ 200.
That's where I thought the range would be.

Speaker 1 (38:34):
The minimum is $ 400.

Speaker 3 (38:34):
Right, okay.

Speaker 1 (38:37):
I had one of those upgrades recently, Keezy. Yeah. It
was coming back from, what did it be, Magic Round, actually. Oh, yes,
that's right. And I tried to get an upgrade, and
I put it to business class. Because you were premium economy. No,
I was standee. Yeah, right. And you can jump, too.
You can jump, too, if you go to Australia on

(38:57):
a short sort of flight.

Speaker 4 (38:59):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (39:00):
And then they came back and they said, oh, no,
I can't do it. And I said, what about premium economy?
They said, yes, there are premium economy seats, but you
ask for business, so you can't have the premium economy.
I said, so what happens with that seat? Does it
just stay empty? Yes. Yeah. And now that upgrade has expired.
It's gone. And I never get to use it. So

(39:20):
that's good shit.

Speaker 4 (39:21):
What I want to know is– I want someone to
like message on 3483 or message me on Instagram or something.
I need some sort of insight as to how much
you can bid to get a seat without overbidding.

Speaker 1 (39:33):
But you don't want to pay $ 1, 000.

Speaker 3 (39:35):
No, $ 1, 000 is stupid.

Speaker 1 (39:36):
So if that's where it starts, then you're out of
the game.

Speaker 3 (39:39):
It's over.

Speaker 1 (39:40):
Right. You know what I'm saying? In the bog there.

Speaker 3 (39:42):
Yeah, you're in the bog.

Speaker 1 (39:42):
Because can you even type anything lower than that?

Speaker 3 (39:44):
$ 400.

Speaker 1 (39:45):
You can't? Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 4 (39:46):
So I'm thinking some– but even that, just for a seat–
For a slightly better meal?

Speaker 1 (39:51):
To sit with my wife and not be by the bog?
That's the worst thing, isn't it? Yeah. I mean, you've
got to be away from there for two weeks.

Speaker 3 (39:58):
Oh, God. Oh, my God. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (40:00):
The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
in weekdays at four on Radio Hodaki.

Speaker 3 (40:08):
I'll be danger there on the Radio Hodaki Big Show
this Wednesday night. Fellas, let's have a bit of Meat
Patty Nip 69 action.

Speaker 1 (40:23):
At gmail.com get in touch with.

Speaker 4 (40:26):
The fellas meet pattynips69 at gmail.com real email address get
in touch ask a genuine advice question if we read
it on the show you get a reberger voucher 50
bucks worth how good which is a bloody good feed
bloody good this is one comes from anonymous fellas hello
there never thought I'd be asking you backbones for genuine
relationship advice but here goes and here you.

Speaker 1 (40:48):
Are this is good by the way I knew you'd
be back man crawling We love the genuine stuff, you know.

Speaker 4 (40:54):
My partner and I have been on a diet for
about three months and we've been incredibly strict with only
one cheap meal allocated per week.

Speaker 1 (41:00):
Yes.

Speaker 4 (41:01):
Which we typically do on a Sunday takeaway for dinner.

Speaker 3 (41:03):
That's a treat.

Speaker 1 (41:04):
Yeah, nice.

Speaker 3 (41:05):
That's a treat. I like it.

Speaker 4 (41:06):
This has been going well until two weeks ago. Oh, no.
She found out that every Friday when the food truck
shows up at work, I throw my salad in the
bin and absolutely keysie out on what can only be
described as a ridiculous amount of greasy baked goods.

Speaker 1 (41:20):
She's absolutely filthy with me. He is, eh?

Speaker 3 (41:23):
Nah, he's all G.

Speaker 1 (41:24):
She's absolutely filthy with me, and my question is this.

Speaker 4 (41:26):
Do I stop LARPing Keezy every Friday, or do I
continue and just lie about it?

Speaker 1 (41:32):
Cheers. What are we with the LARPing? We're role-playing. Pretending
to be me. Pretending to be old Keezy there. Right, okay.
I think it's worse than cheating, actually.

Speaker 3 (41:42):
Sexually.

Speaker 1 (41:43):
What, eating food on a Friday? Yeah, well, any day
of the week. But more that you've made the commitment
to lose weight because you're a couple of shocking bastards.
And you're doing a food cheat. You know what I mean?
She would be filthy. Yeah. I'd be filthy.

Speaker 2 (41:58):
Yes.

Speaker 3 (41:58):
So, in other words, you've got to keep lying.

Speaker 1 (42:01):
Well, she already knows. She's found out. She's found out.

Speaker 4 (42:04):
But if you keep lying, then next time she finds out,
which she probably will, she'll be even more fuming.

Speaker 3 (42:09):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (42:09):
I think you've got to be a man of your word.
What are you doing? You go... She's been more disciplined
than you. Are you going to allow that?

Speaker 3 (42:16):
Has she?

Speaker 1 (42:17):
A relationship, well, as far as we know, a relationship
isn't the two of you working together towards a common goal.
It's a competition. It's man against woman.

Speaker 5 (42:26):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (42:27):
Is it?

Speaker 3 (42:28):
Well, it is.

Speaker 4 (42:28):
Because in my relationship, it's more like a team thing.

Speaker 1 (42:31):
You know what I mean?

Speaker 3 (42:31):
Yeah, I know.

Speaker 1 (42:32):
If one of you is slowing the other one down,
I guarantee it.

Speaker 3 (42:35):
And one of you in that relationship is eating for three.

Speaker 1 (42:40):
In my relationship?

Speaker 3 (42:41):
Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 (42:41):
Eating for three?

Speaker 3 (42:42):
Yes. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (42:44):
Did you not hear about that? Is that me?

Speaker 4 (42:47):
But the thing about my relationship is if this was happening,
I think in my relationship we'd probably have a bit
of a laugh about it. But it depends on the agreement,
why you're doing it. Is it for health reasons, that
sort of stuff? Is it something you both really need
to do and you know that you have to do
this thing?

Speaker 3 (43:02):
It's a tricky one, isn't it? Because, you know, I
might be walking home from work, for example.

Speaker 1 (43:08):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (43:08):
And I'll buy myself a pie. Or some chicken nibbles.
Or some chicken nibbles.

Speaker 1 (43:12):
Remember that early days?

Speaker 3 (43:13):
Yes, I do. That was your first one. I do,
very much so. And I'll get quite full because, you know,
I'm not a big eater. And then I'll get home
and my wife's cooked a lovely meal. Yes. And I'm like, oh, God,
I'm going to have to kisi this.

Speaker 1 (43:24):
What the hell does that mean?

Speaker 3 (43:26):
It just means I'm going to have to eat even
more food.

Speaker 1 (43:30):
You're going to have to gut it down. That's right.

Speaker 3 (43:33):
Because I can't afford to admit.

Speaker 1 (43:36):
Yeah, that's right. Well, you shouldn't have jaced it in
the first place. You shouldn't have jaced it.

Speaker 3 (43:41):
15 dumplings on the way home.

Speaker 4 (43:42):
If you're going to do that, you have to have
a small savoury if you're going to do that. Because
you can't eat a whole pie, let alone a pie
and dinner.

Speaker 1 (43:50):
Yeah, I don't think that your wife would be happy, Keezy,
because she's been trying to get you to go for
walks and stuff. And you won't do it. And so
if you finally managed to get, if you finally agreed
to get on some kind of a diet plan, and
then she finds out that you've been down here in
the sausage rolls and the air fryer, absolutely making yourself
a full-on Keezy. Keezy-ing yourself up to the eyeballs, she'd

(44:12):
be fuming. I don't think she'd think it was funny
at all.

Speaker 3 (44:14):
The other day, because Keezy gave me a lift to golf,
and he picked me up, and then he had to
stop on the side of the road and just clear
away all the bloody takeaway packets and stuff. Yeah, that's right.

Speaker 1 (44:24):
I just called over the side of the road.

Speaker 3 (44:25):
Just dumped it all out. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 4 (44:27):
He did, and I was like, come on, Keezy, man.
And then I said, sorry, that was just my breakfast.
But I guess the advice is, mate, you've got to.

Speaker 1 (44:34):
Step up here. You've got to step up.

Speaker 3 (44:35):
Yeah, I think so. I think so.

Speaker 1 (44:37):
You have to do it. If you're committed to it,
you've got to do it. But this is the trouble,
isn't it? Because if it wasn't a big deal, if
it was easy, then you'd look at the food truck
and you'd say, no, no, it's easy. I'm not doing
that because me and the missus have got a deal
going on. But you're addicted to the good stuff. I'm
the same, man.

Speaker 3 (44:50):
He's addicted to the good stuff.

Speaker 4 (44:52):
I've got terrible self-control, as we've discussed at length in
this break in particular.

Speaker 3 (44:58):
Well, it's only in the sense of, Keezy, that it's
pertinent to your situation.

Speaker 1 (45:02):
That's right. Thanks, Jase. I mean, nobody makes a Keezy
of them more. A Keezy of themselves first, an old Keezy. Well,
who do you think invented Keezy-ing?

Speaker 4 (45:11):
So I hope that helps. Just do the bloody thing.
Don't eat the food truck, all right?

Speaker 3 (45:15):
Actually, you're keen on a bit of hot pot tonight.
I'm hungry, man.

Speaker 2 (45:18):
The Hauraki Beat Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.

Speaker 3 (45:37):
Well, there you go, you mad bastards. That's a big
show done and dusted for you Wednesday. In the disclaimer podcast,
we had to hurry it up a bit because we
were running a bit late today, fellas.

Speaker 4 (45:46):
We had a technical issue before the show started and
we were running out of time.

Speaker 1 (45:50):
Oh, God, the pressure was on, fellas.

Speaker 3 (45:52):
The pressure was on. We were talking rugby, I recall.

Speaker 4 (45:54):
You guys were trading war stories of the good old
days on the footy field.

Speaker 1 (45:59):
Yeah, dominating. Comes out at 7.30 tonight, by the way. Doodle.

Speaker 3 (46:03):
This guy got a break, and I heroically, as the
last man standing, sprinted after him and was about to
deduce him in the corner, and he just sidestepped me
and scored under the bar. And we lost the game.

Speaker 1 (46:17):
Glory days, man. They'll pass you by.

Speaker 3 (46:19):
Yeah, man.

Speaker 4 (46:20):
But the good news is, Jase, that you and I
have signed up and we're going to be playing Prems
rugby this year.

Speaker 3 (46:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (46:25):
Can't wait.

Speaker 3 (46:26):
Can't wait. It's going to be real good.

Speaker 1 (46:28):
I think that rugby league would suit you more, Jase.

Speaker 3 (46:31):
Yeah, well, I'm up the guts kind of guy.

Speaker 1 (46:33):
You are. Sort of, you know, sniping runs out of
dummy half.

Speaker 5 (46:37):
Yes.

Speaker 1 (46:37):
And outside of that, just lobbing hospital balls to Keezy.

Speaker 2 (46:40):
Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 3 (46:41):
Just big loopy bastards.

Speaker 4 (46:44):
Jase, have you ever hit a run at straight comp?

Speaker 3 (46:46):
Yeah, man, I've seen it, too.

Speaker 1 (46:47):
Do you reckon we can have a go at it,
me and you?

Speaker 3 (46:49):
Yeah, totally. Totally. Mogi, your plans for the night, please.

Speaker 1 (46:54):
Man, well, I actually want to watch all of Mum,
I'm Alien Pregnant. I've been lucky enough to get myself
a screener, you see there, fellas.

Speaker 4 (47:03):
Which is the movie that Johnny Brough and Jack Van
Beek were in.

Speaker 1 (47:05):
Exactly right. And it's very, very funny. I've watched half
an hour of it. I'll restart it so that the
missus and the brother-in-law can watch as well. But it's really,
really good.

Speaker 3 (47:15):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (47:16):
Dare I say that I think if they've missed a
trick anywhere, I think maybe the title would put people off.

Speaker 3 (47:22):
Yes.

Speaker 1 (47:23):
Because it's bloody funny.

Speaker 4 (47:24):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (47:24):
It's really funny and really well acted and really well made.
And so I would say to people out there, don't
let the name fool you. It's a ripper.

Speaker 4 (47:30):
It's in cinemas tomorrow, actually.

Speaker 3 (47:32):
Tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (47:33):
So if you want to go see a good comedy,
go see that.

Speaker 3 (47:35):
Yeah, man.

Speaker 1 (47:35):
Support local. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (47:37):
What are you up to? Oh, what's for dinner, Keezy?

Speaker 1 (47:39):
Oh, Keezy, man.

Speaker 4 (47:40):
For dinner tonight, leftover curry from last night.

Speaker 1 (47:42):
What was the curry last night?

Speaker 4 (47:44):
It was like a lemongrass chicken thigh-y, really nice curry.
We're having that, and we've been to this thing now.

Speaker 1 (47:51):
Did you have leftovers?

Speaker 4 (47:52):
Having leftovers, and instead of having it for lunch the
next day, you have it for dinner.

Speaker 1 (47:55):
I thought you'd sort of, during the day, because your
wife's out, you'd sort of get into the old fridge
there and just Keezy yourself.

Speaker 4 (48:01):
Yeah, and then have to go take a fat mogi
afterwards to clear more space.

Speaker 3 (48:05):
No, no. A fat mogi.

Speaker 1 (48:08):
A big fat mogi.

Speaker 3 (48:10):
Yeah, good stuff.

Speaker 4 (48:11):
Mogi steamer. Jase, actually, we don't have time now.

Speaker 3 (48:13):
I'm sorry. Oh, well. It's okay. I don't really have
much to share. But like Mogia, I'm going to the
play that he went to last night. And it's been
interesting because I'm like, how was it, man? I mean,
did you enjoy it? And he's been very, very, very
mums the word. You know what I mean?

Speaker 1 (48:31):
It's up to you, Jase.

Speaker 3 (48:32):
So he's obviously given me the option because initially my
wife was like, we've got that play.
