Speaker 4 (02:02):
One of my chief concerns when we agreed to do
breakfast was that old mugie. He was going to turn
up all rugged up, you know, jackets because it's cold
out fellas and it's been raining as well. But I
am delighted to see he's wearing his tidy whitey T
(02:22):
shirt looking like an absolute studie.
Speaker 2 (02:26):
House life got pretty grassy, Your mad dog is six
aoo Tuesday morning. There feellers and our final week of
breakfast and people are people are devastating about it. We
had one guy yesterday on the text machine who was
so sad he asked us to text him when we
were leaving so they could come back from the rock.
(02:49):
I just wanted to know when Jerry was going to
be back. Yes, was it just one guy? Was it
that I was?
Speaker 6 (02:56):
God?
Speaker 2 (02:56):
Yeah, I mean that's just an example of yeah, yeah,
a few days and that so our last week. I'm
gadded about it, but I think you've got to celebrate
what you've got while it's here, Jace. Yeah. Man, That's
always been my motto, and that's how I feel about
old Kezy.
Speaker 5 (03:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (03:14):
Now, can I just say, Kezy, this makes sense, very
very hooded eyes this morning. Normally, of course, I associate
that with you being massively hungover, but I know that's
not the case today. You're just a bit weary on it.
Speaker 5 (03:30):
I'm just tired, Jase, because it's six am and usually
I don't go to work until the afternoon. That's true,
but hey, a big show coming up, fellas massive show,
and you're looking good Jays.
Speaker 4 (03:42):

Speaker 4 (04:03):
What's on the break now? What's on the breakfast with me?
Speaker 2 (04:05):
Keysy?
Speaker 4 (04:06):
And we thought, actually, what we'd like to do is
start up our own sort of cafe type set up
here fellas the Big Show Breakfast and coffee lounge. We
could call it something like that.
Speaker 5 (04:16):
I hate that name.
Speaker 4 (04:17):

Speaker 6 (04:19):
Then?
Speaker 4 (04:20):

Speaker 2 (04:23):
Just on my ideas.
Speaker 4 (04:24):

My worry is that no one's going to call up
at six am in the morning calling us.
Speaker 2 (05:17):
They will, man, really totally right.
Speaker 5 (05:20):
We have to put some sort of prize on the line, or.
Speaker 2 (05:23):
I think, so, what about a million dollars? Okay, why not?
Speaker 5 (05:26):
Okay, I'll write that down. One million dollars you say
one million?
Speaker 2 (05:29):
Just one million? Okay. So what we're.
Speaker 4 (05:31):
Wanting is for people to call us on eight hundred

out for you, and we will then send you on
your way. We thought we might as well make some
money out of this this show while we're doing it.

having for breakfast.

Know what they want for breakfast from the come ony
attention then and then we take the.
Speaker 2 (05:55):

mine day today. It's good to croissant day today. Yeah,

Have it forward to that, yeh three for eight three

you can't come up with anything. We've thought of this
very late. Notice there's a Black Keys. I think it
(10:18):
was a success for.
Speaker 1 (10:19):
The Hierarchy Big Show weekdays from four on Radio Hierarchy
Sport Larrence rod.
Speaker 9 (10:29):
Con Yes, it is at six thirty time for your
later sport headlines. Thanks to Export Ultra the bear for here.
The black Caps have won the toss and chosen to
bowl first in their second ODI against the West Indies

Smith and that match is just getting underweight Rodo Booby.
(10:53):

Speaker 2 (11:04):
Oh carry on wom.
Speaker 9 (11:09):
And Brendon McCallum has apologized for England's Test cricket results
under his leadership following his dismissal as.
Speaker 10 (11:16):
Red ball coach.
Speaker 2 (11:18):
I'm not heavy with that his apology. Oh well, I
don't think he should be apologizing at all. Everyone can
mind their goddamn business.
Speaker 4 (11:26):
Yeah, just a little tip there, very cricket heavy there.
There's two stories about cricket there, mate.
Speaker 2 (11:34):
But and my question would be where's the woman's sport? Yeah?
Because I noticed you've really started well hardy J and
you're quite literally pointing the finger now, so I just
ask you and here we expect to hear about women's sport.
Speaker 9 (11:50):
I just don't know that Haughty Jay's sort of against
the women's sports results.
Speaker 2 (11:55):
Start where you've got that from get out?
Speaker 5 (11:58):
Wait for you do?
Speaker 2 (11:59):
No old red red kind so.
Speaker 9 (12:03):
Oh but traffic is it?
Speaker 2 (12:07):
Obviously? That's what the Steamers always do. Have you even
prepped for this? Broom?
Speaker 9 (12:12):
Come on, man, well, which region we are we covering?
We're doing the whole country here.
Speaker 2 (12:16):
So it's vibe based.
Speaker 9 (12:19):
Well, look, there's a bit of some cars on the
roads today, so watch out for them. A few trucks
around two and you know they can be quite slow.
Speaker 2 (12:28):
So sign things down.
Speaker 9 (12:29):
That's your latest traffic news there. I'm how was that
that was good? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (12:37):
I just had a text on three four eight three.
Not a lot of traffic around.
Speaker 10 (12:39):
It's only six thirty am okay, So just.
Speaker 2 (12:42):
Jeez, that's embarrassing.
Speaker 9 (12:44):
Yeah, I'm railing Ramsey.
Speaker 1 (12:48):
The Hierarchy Big Show week days from four on Radio.
Speaker 4 (12:51):
Hodarchy Stone Temple pilots there on the Big Show Breakfast
this Tuesday morning.
Speaker 2 (12:56):
The time is six thirty seven.
Speaker 4 (12:59):
And since we've been doing the Breakfast Show, we've been
inundated with texts from people asking us, have you guys
got any tips for having to wake up early?
Speaker 2 (13:09):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (13:09):
Absolute inundated, absolute, absolutely inundated.
Speaker 5 (13:16):
That's right, three four eight three. If if you want
to undated us with anything, absolutely hepes. People are asking though, fellos,
and you know we've been doing this for what four days?
Now is our fourth day doing breakfast? Yes, yeah, so
we're pretty damn good at this stage. So I just
figured some tips on how to get up early. For example,
my first tip will be go to bed earlier. No, bet,
(13:38):
Usually I go to bed. To be honest, I'm on
drive radio in the afternoon. I'll go to BID eleven
pm plus every single night, whereas at the moment last night,
I was in bed at eight forty five.
Speaker 2 (13:47):
Yes, well, just.
Speaker 4 (13:48):
On that front. What I what I've been doing is
after the breakfast show finishes, I go home and go
to bed for a nap. No, I just go to
bed and then I wake up and I say, oh,
breakfast time again.
Speaker 2 (14:02):
Here we go.
Speaker 5 (14:03):
So you're asleep at like eleven am, yes, and you
wake up at about four am.
Speaker 4 (14:10):
Yeah, not as much sleep as I normally get, but
it's you know, it'll have to do.
Speaker 2 (14:15):
For now, How do you come up with ideas for
content in my dreams?
Speaker 4 (14:20):
After I wake up from a dream, either deeply aroused
or it'll be like, oh, oh I know tips for
getting up early? Yeah, and it'll be straight in the
group chat there. What do you do mode?
Speaker 2 (14:32):
For me, what I do is I make sure that
I've got an alarm that has really been a lot
of my wife for example, she's got a soothing alarm
clock that sort of lulls her out of your slumber,
whereas mine's like the sound of a freight train. So
I have to leap out of bed. Yeah, there's no
snoozing when you've got that. You've got to leap out
of bed. And my phone is on the other side
of the room.
Speaker 5 (14:50):
Yes, that's actually that's that is a good tip, bro,
if you're a snoozer, if you're a chronic snoozer, put
your phone on the other side of the room or
outside the room.
Speaker 4 (14:59):
Yeah, you basically one an alarm that's going to give
you a heart attack, that's right, you know what I mean?
Speaker 5 (15:04):
Yeah, yeah, because like they're getting out of bed pads
what wakes you up. So quite often I used to
be a snooze. I put my phone like in the
lounge at and not have to get up and go
get it.
Speaker 4 (15:14):
Another good thing you can do, actually to save yourself
a bit of time if you do like a snooze,
is just don't shower. Yes, you know, what I mean,
just flag the shower and all the hygiene things. Just
get straight in your trek ease after you get up
and go straight to work.
Speaker 5 (15:28):
Well, I mean there's also basic hygiene before entering the workplace.
Speaker 4 (15:32):
Well, you don't need to worry about it this time
of the day. There's no one here.
Speaker 2 (15:35):
Yeah, right, so absolutely reek, who cares. I bought a cat.
So I've got a cat, and that cat wakes me
up about two am, three am, four am, five am. Right,
to buy a cat just for you, buy a cat,
because a cat will want to either heavy yarn, come
in and just start peering and sort of needing your
(15:55):
you know, your sort of neck and head ears, or
it's hungry, or to go outside and do a steamer,
or it's going to do a steamer on your beard
like my kit.
Speaker 4 (16:03):
Right, Okay, I got another tip. I moved into the
CBD and like, for example, this morning at about and
I was telling you Fellas about it.
Speaker 2 (16:16):
When I came in.
Speaker 4 (16:16):
Today at about twenty to four, there was a guy
walking down our street ringing a cow bell. Yes, and
then you get your standy murders, you know about people
were screaming and all that sort of stuff move to
the CBD.
Speaker 5 (16:33):
I also, I get up and have a really big
glass of water first. Ah, and then I don't drink
my coffee until I'm almost at work.
Speaker 2 (16:39):
Oh really Yeah, okay, I don't drink at night because
I find that it's harder to get up in the morning.
Yeah alcohol, yeah yeah yeah. But in the morning I
reward myself with a few beers as soon as I
wake up.
Speaker 1 (16:53):
The whole archy. Big Show was Jason, Mike and Kyzy.
Tune in on radio.
Speaker 4 (16:59):
You too there on Big Show Breakfast this Tuesday morning.
The time is exactly ten minutes to seven o'clock.
Speaker 2 (17:05):
Fellas. I'm a little bit concerned that I'm losing all
respect at home, right, you know, with my wife and
my daughter. There's some sort of some signs there that
maybe my opinion is not valued.
Speaker 4 (17:20):
Here.
Speaker 2 (17:20):
I'll give you an example. The yesterday I'm at home.
I'm in the kitchen cleaning it, you know, just all
the the breakfast dishes and stuff that have sort of
stacked up from when I was here doing breakfast radio.
So I got to get home and tidy it all up,
clean and sort of clean the bathroom and just tidy
the house up. And everything obviously there home, but you
(17:41):
know there's a lot going on. Oh very busy.
Speaker 5 (17:43):
Is this what you're talking about? The laquer of respect here?
Speaker 2 (17:45):
No, just get into the aspect. No, that's wow. That's
not lequer of respect. That's standy keezy is it? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (17:51):
Oh wow?
Speaker 2 (17:51):
Okay, you'll find out once you've got kids, okay, which.
Speaker 4 (17:55):
Is which is very very.
Speaker 5 (17:59):
Excit stop it.
Speaker 2 (18:01):
So my daughter comes in and tells me. She's like, Dad,
like that, and she's like, we're getting a dog. And
I'm like, because she's seven, she's seven year okay, And
I'm like, no, it's not. She's like, yeah, we're getting
a dog and we're getting a Chihuahua. I can see
you and me and mum were looking at them on
(18:22):
the computer today. My wife and I have had some
quite detailed chats about whether or not we're getting a dog,
and we're not, or at least I didn't think we were. Yes.
So then I'm in the office my wife is in
the office there and in the home office, and the
daughter comes and I said, oh, what's this about us?
Speaker 5 (18:39):
Are here here? We getting a dog?
Speaker 2 (18:41):
And she's like what I said, Oh, Frankie, my daughter
here is telling me that we're going to be getting
a dog, which is not only that we're getting a chihuahua.
There's not a dog on the planet that I hate
more than a chia.
Speaker 5 (18:54):
Yeah, we're looking.
Speaker 2 (18:57):
Animals.
Speaker 4 (18:59):
And they're all the most vicious too, the smallest dog,
but the most vicious, the most vicious mate. I've been
bitten many times.
Speaker 2 (19:06):
By shocking temperaments. Shocking, man, they're poisonous.
Speaker 4 (19:10):
Chihuahua bites they.
Speaker 2 (19:12):
Do, and they gossip about you behind your back. They
talked about you behind your back.
Speaker 4 (19:18):
Massive ears as well.
Speaker 5 (19:21):
Are you sure that you're thinking of a cobra?
Speaker 2 (19:24):
Cobras don't have ears? Key brain, Okay, anyway, So the
conversation goes on and my wife's wears up and down
that she hasn't said this. She's simply said that we might,
we might, Okay, maybe we'll get one. And so I
(19:45):
said to my daughter, I said, when mum's when dad
says maybe, does that mean yes or no? And my
daughter said it means no, and I see it. And
when mom says maybe we'll do something, does that usually
end up meaning yes or no? She said yes. Yeah.
So I'm just wondering because this is an entire and
as I found out, my wife, as a precursor of
(20:07):
the conversation, said to my daughter, don't tell dad we're
talking about this. Yeah, yes, So what the hell is
going on? I'm now living with I'm essentially a peer.
I'm like the cat. Now it's my wife and my
daughter that rolled the rooster home then then and no
word of a lie. Then it goes the cat, and
(20:28):
then it goes me.
Speaker 5 (20:29):
You slaving over the dishes.
Speaker 4 (20:30):
There, yes, with your little apron on.
Speaker 2 (20:34):
So am I losing all respect there?
Speaker 1 (20:35):
Now?
Speaker 2 (20:35):
Are there any other examples? Oh?
Speaker 4 (20:36):
Yeah, totally you are, because I'm the same with my
you know, I've got four girls, and the amount of
stuff that went on between my girls and my wife
never had a clue about. Yeah, all the stuff that
was planned, never told about. And then they I don't believe.
Then they present it as you know, it's being done.
There's no discussion about.
Speaker 2 (20:57):
It, that's right.
Speaker 4 (20:58):
And then they try and gaslight you about it and go,
we did talk.
Speaker 5 (21:01):
About it, and it's like, no, that's an opera situation. No,
I think they did talk about it. Ever, three four eight,
three of you lost respect in your household? Examples or
text in the drawer for a prize because.
Speaker 2 (21:14):
I Another example for you, Jason is like the way
that your wife dresses you.
Speaker 3 (21:18):
Yeah, you know those boots.
Speaker 2 (21:20):
Come on, man, here's great day.
Speaker 1 (21:25):

Speaker 2 (21:50):
A big welcome to everybody just joining us at seven o'clock.
Have you been man? Yeah, Man, we've been going off
this morning, absolutely visiting here. I mean, you've got to
get up early and listen to the show. You're lazy.
Speaker 4 (22:01):
I'm actually pretty convinced that people are doing that. As
soon as they heard we were doing breakfast, they went right,
I'm going to be up at you at the start
of the show six am on the dot. Really yeah, totally.
Speaker 2 (22:11):
Man.
Speaker 4 (22:11):
Incidentally, keep those orders coming through for what you want
for breakfast on three four eight three. Yes, we've started
up our own little cafe here, so you know, keep
keep them coming. Why are you laughing, Keezy, because it
was like forty minutes ago. I know, well that's what
I'm saying. Just keep keep them coming.
Speaker 5 (22:29):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, you keep coming. Three four three pugs
a nditioned out prizes which has been pretty fun.
Speaker 2 (22:34):
Totally mate.
Speaker 5 (22:35):
We've got a big show ahead fellas. Obviously we need
to touch on the absolute legend and icon that is
Sam Neil. Yes, also your chance to win two hundred
and fifty bucks cash the pies that pay. Listen now
for the k to call. It'll be happening at some
stage this hour.
Speaker 4 (22:49):
Yeah, good stuff mate, Coming up though, the very sad news.
Speaker 2 (22:53):
About Sam Neil.
Speaker 4 (22:54):
Will be having a bit of chitty chat about that.
Speaker 1 (22:56):
The Hodikey Big Show was Jason, Mike and Kezy.
Speaker 4 (23:02):
Audio slave there on the Big Show Breakfast this Tuesday morning.
The time is nine minutes past seven, and of course
yesterday we heard the very sad news of the passing
of the great, the one and only Sam Neil, probably
our greatest actor.
Speaker 2 (23:17):
Mogi. You could argue, yeah, I reckon, he'd be right
up there. It's a hell of a career. He's head
the sort of video clip of yesterday sort of having
a yarn about it of him going down to university
meant to be doing a degree in something, but just
baggering around doing plays in trying to trying to hook
up with woman, yes, and then panicking in a conversation
(23:39):
with his mother who told him he better get a
shit together. Yeah, and didn't he get a shit together
in glorious fashion. A hell of a career, stated out
with Sleeping Dogs in New Zealand, and then he went
on to do some incredible films and work with, you know,
some of the biggest directors, the biggest actors in the
world are you know, a career spanning fifty plus years,
(24:01):
and at the same time manages to retain sort of
a level of anonymity as a working actor. He's not
a superstar, he's not a celebrity. He doesn't chase any
of that stuff at all. You wouldn't know a thing
about his personal life despite him being such a presence
in all of our lives for such a long long time,
and also uses whatever fame that he did have to
(24:22):
you know, to celebrate causes and pursue causes. It meant
a lot to him. He'd been working up to his
passing on stopping mining down in the South Island. And
you know it's a bit of gold mining they're trying
to do down there and rap up a part of
Central Otago, so it's working really hard to stop that.
A battler for indigenous rights and women's rights and all
(24:43):
these sorts of things. He was, you know, I worked
with him on Hunt for the Wilder of People. I
saw him recently at the ten year anniversary. Everything you
think about the guy is what he was. Yeah, one
of the nicest men that you would ever meet in
your life. Genuinely, genuinely good man.
Speaker 4 (25:01):
I had the privilege of bumping into him in the
Codu lounge and I was reading a book I can't
remember the name of the author, and he wandered over
to me. He didn't know who I was. Of course
I knew who he was, and he said, ah, what
book is that? And I can't remember the author's name,
And he was a big fan of it. And so
he sat and chatted for about four minutes about this author, right,
(25:23):
and he was totally into it. But I think one
of the extraordinary things that he did was to show
New Zealand actors that you could be on the world stage,
you know what I mean, you didn't just have to
work within the confines of New Zealand, because, as you
pointed out, he's worked with a great many great directors
and actors, and he showed us that actually it's possible
(25:43):
for a key we.
Speaker 2 (25:44):
To do that one hundred percent going from New Zealand
then to Australia and then into the US and the UK.
It was unfathomable, yes, at the time, that you could
do that as a New Zealander. And so it's just
one of those things where you see one of your
own doing it and it becomes possible for you. I mean,
I could choose to be a big Hollywood start if
I wanted. I've got the radio show Keysy, I've got you,
(26:04):
you know, me and Jason trying to you know, get
your career up.
Speaker 5 (26:07):
And go about me. Ma, I'm sweet.
Speaker 4 (26:09):
No, we do feel a responsibility. But seriously, a legend,
bloody good looking Feller too, wasn't a stunning looking.
Speaker 2 (26:18):
Fellow well on Hunt for the World of People When
I've told the story before, but there's a seat the
first time I met him, there's a scene where I'm
one of three hunters and Samuel gets into a fight
with one of the other hunters. He grabs this feller
Cohen Holloway peasant pinned to a table after come in
and grabs them Neil from behind and grab him around
the neck and yank him back. And I did that,
(26:42):
but on the first take I came through and I
punched him in the face.
Speaker 4 (26:45):
Right.
Speaker 2 (26:45):
It was an accident, but the filming stopped for a
period because obviously I don't know my own strength. Jason,
he was dazed and confused. Poor I'll see him there
And anyway, was telling my mother about it, and to
this day she's absolutely filthy about it because she's always
felt that there's a chance for her and sam Neil.
I could see that he was a maddenine idol, yes,
(27:08):
and got the talent, the talent to support that, and
the career was unbelievable. So a bloody said. I feel
for his family, But Jesus, what a great life. Yes,
a great life. Celebrate his life for sure. Yeah, you
can be sad about it, but if you're going to
if you could sit down as a young person and
write out your journey, the adventures that you would go
(27:30):
on to find a thing you're passionate about, to be
brave enough to pursue it, to find out you're good
at it, for other people to recognize your talent, and
then to share the screen and scenes with some of
the greatest actors the world has ever seen, while being
directed by some of the greatest directors the world has
ever seen. You'd be happy to write the end at
(27:52):
the end of that story, wouldn't you? Totally and stay
humble through all of that. You've got any.
Speaker 4 (27:57):
Thoughts on Sam Neil? Text us now on three four
eight three. In the meantime, He's music.
Speaker 1 (28:03):
The Hurdiarchy Big Show weekdays from four on Radio Hodarchy.
Speaker 4 (28:07):
Is indeed news.
Speaker 2 (28:09):
There on the radio hold Archy Breakfast.
Speaker 4 (28:12):
This Tuesday mornings were Sunday sixty three for one and
the second one day. If you're interested, we're talking about
the great career of Sam Neil, who sadly passed away yesterday.
Speaker 2 (28:23):
Feelers, but how of a career he.
Speaker 5 (28:26):
Had, massive career And for me, because obviously you guys
are in the acting game way, you have a crack
at it, don't you.
Speaker 2 (28:32):
Moogie.
Speaker 5 (28:32):
You punched him in the face on the set of
Hunt for the Wilder People yeah, man, so for me
and certainly my wife as well. The well, there's three
for me. He did a series called Tuton Karmen like
ten fifteen years ago, where he played the guy who
opened the tomb and found the term of Tuton Carmen,
right right. I love Egyptology, so I watched that and
was oh, wow, Sam Neil, how cool.
Speaker 2 (28:52):
Yes.
Speaker 5 (28:53):
But the other two, the main two Hunt for the
Wilder People, which is probably, in my eyes, the best
ki We film for me. I think it's just a
fantastic family comedy film. I've watched it so many times
and it's still so great. But also Jurassic park Man
being directed by Spielberg. Yes, one of the biggest franchises
in movie history.
Speaker 4 (29:11):
It was huge, massive.
Speaker 5 (29:13):
And then when I found out because I watched that
as a kid obviously and then found out that he
was a New Zealander, that blew my mind.
Speaker 4 (29:19):
He was one of those actors actually where you would
be watching a movie in and all of a sudden
to be oh my god. As Sam Neil, he just
pumped up all over the place all the time, and
as you were pointing out, Mogi just one of those
actors that which is very rare believe me, that was
constantly in work, and he was constantly in work because
he was.
Speaker 2 (29:37):
Brilliant at it. Yeah, exactly. I think easy to work with.
Steven Spielberg has come out and said he was sad
and by the death that Sam was an exceptionally collaborative
actor and easy to work with, and the adored making
the Jurassic movies with him. It's pretty incredible to have
those people that you're working with. I mean, as a
quick role call of actors that he worked with over
(29:58):
his career, Mel Gibson, Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman, Sean Connery,
Alec Baldwin, Laura durn Jeff Goldbloom, James L. Jones, Richard Attenborough,
Harvey kai Tell, Hugh Grant, Charlton Heston, Robert Downey Junior,
Meg Ryan, Laurence Fishburn, Robert Redford, Scarlett Johansson, Robin Williams,
(30:19):
William H. Macy, Kate Blanchett, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvesti Stallone, Chris Hends,
with Mark Rufflo, the list goes on and on. It
basically everyone, every single person that you can imagine is
absolutely huge films. I mean, early on there was the
big one I think was Evil Angels, which was the
story of a dingo stole my baby over in Australia.
(30:43):
The a Meryl Street played Linda Chamberlain and he was
married to his character was married to her. Then there
was Dear Caren, The Hunt for Red October with Sean
Connery with Nicole Kidman, that's right, and Billy Zane a
brilliant film, actually great thriller if you haven't seen it.
The Hunt for Red Octaber was massive Sean Connery, Alec
Baldwin and that Dangerous at Park, the Piano, and it
(31:04):
goes on and on and on. So yeah, I mean
chees to be able to do half of those, a quarter,
a tenth of those films. He must have had over
two hundred credits, so just hugely in demand.
Speaker 4 (31:15):
Well, you just reminded me too. His performance in The
Piano was fantastic as well as the brooding sort of partner. Yeah,
that was an amazing performance. Good stuff.
Speaker 5 (31:25):
It's sad day feelers. It is.
Speaker 2 (31:26):
Alreally said, it's very nice.
Speaker 5 (31:27):
Getting to listen to you two actors talk about him
as well. Yeah, because for me, I'm just a person
who sits at home and sees them Ontellic.
Speaker 2 (31:33):
You know, yeah, it's slightly odd, isn't it. I stumbled
into acting and then to do to do Hunt for
the Wilder People to find yourself on a set with
Sam Neil. It's yeah, it's slightly it's odd and it
was weird at the time. But what was actually interesting
about that was because my experience of having worked with
(31:54):
Tiger before was and been so inexperienced as an actor
and been throwing in with people that you absolutely the
biggest thing in the country and you're just terrified and
try to pretend like you're not. Yes, So being directed
by Tiger on what is at the end of Vampire
what we do in the Shadows, and his way of
working is that he doesn't really give you direction. If
(32:15):
you're doing fine, he won't talk to you. Yeah, so
your thing is because you're not being talking spoken to him,
being told you're a good boy and that you've done good.
You assume that you've done You've bugged it up, Yes,
of course. Well, then we're doing for the Wilder People
and sitting outside and that's just how he is. If
Tiger needs something, he'll tell. If he doesn't, he won't.
And then to sit outside with Sam Neil and Sam
(32:35):
Neils saying the same thing. He's like, you don't know
if I wasn't sure if I was doing a good
job or not, because Tiger wasn't saying anything, and that
Yes he's forty five years into his career and still
feels the same way, still has the same uncertainties and securities. Yes,
it was really nice. Now he didn't have to say
that to me. He could have pretended like everything was
all good. But he was an actor first and foremost,
(32:57):
well actually second, but first he was. He was a
great man.
Speaker 5 (33:00):
Whither you go, Sam Neil legend thoughts.
Speaker 2 (33:04):
With his family totally get out there and watch everything
he's done is an absolute legend. Here's faith no more.
Speaker 1 (33:10):

Speaker 5 (35:10):
This is about three foot? Sure, that'll do you like

Speaker 10 (35:14):
Okay, there's a three foot wave and peha boom.

Speaker 4 (36:41):
No?
Speaker 6 (36:41):
Not with bacon and egg mate?
Speaker 2 (36:43):
You did the one.
Speaker 5 (36:43):
See I actually like sauce on my bacon eggs.
Speaker 4 (36:45):
Oh yeah, totally, I've got sauce all over mine.
Speaker 5 (36:48):
Hey, Paul, Once you've eaten the bacon and egg pie,
do you usually have something for dessert to wash it

Speaker 4 (37:23):
Yeah, actually it's all g if.
Speaker 2 (37:26):
I sort of grabbed a few Dad's.
Speaker 4 (37:29):
Pies on my way out today, you know, and maybe
you had them for dinner, that's all ga.
Speaker 5 (37:34):
So you're you gonna steal the pies.
Speaker 2 (37:37):
For dinner? What about the chips? You normally steal chips?
You go, you're switching that up to pie.
Speaker 4 (37:41):
Well, funnily enough, ogie About five minutes ago, I was thinking,
is it too early for chips?
Speaker 2 (37:47):
Yes, it is.
Speaker 5 (37:48):
It's not even eight o'clock.
Speaker 2 (37:50):
I mean, but you were all a.
Speaker 4 (37:51):
Bit pickash, aren't we? Feelers?
Speaker 5 (37:52):
Well, I brought I've brought Bricky.
Speaker 2 (37:55):
I actually think I'm going to fire up there for
you because I'm assuming we've got billions of this was
my point. Yeah, yeah, let's talk into it.
Speaker 5 (38:04):
The best part is fellas Dad's Pies proudly bakes award
winning pies for pile loving New Zealanders have heard Dad's Pie.
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, that's so great.
Speaker 1 (38:13):
The hold Aking Big Show with Jason Mike and Kezy.
Tune in week days at four on radio.
Speaker 2 (38:18):
Hold I can.
Speaker 4 (38:19):
I took monkeys there on the Big show Breakfast this
Tuesday morning. The time is exactly seven forty eight. We're
talking about what you steal from work.
Speaker 5 (38:27):
Yeah, if you steal anything from work three four eight
three text us, let us know what it is, one
hundred percent anonymous, and you'll get a prize.
Speaker 4 (38:33):
Yeah, great stuff which will probably steal to send to you.
Speaker 5 (38:37):
We'll go on the draw for a prize which Jason
and Steel.
Speaker 2 (38:39):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (38:40):
Now, Liison Fellas, you'll be aware of the fact that
I've often lamented that we don't get sent stuff anymore
during the drive show. You know, there was a time
in radio where you know, people would send you stuff
because they want you to mention it on the radio.
You know, get a free plug type thing. You That's
not happening anymore.
Speaker 2 (38:58):
I've noticed.
Speaker 4 (38:59):
But since I've been doing Breakfast, I walk in here
every day and what I've noticed is the table out
there is absolutely laden with stuff that's been sent to
the Breakfast Fellers. Now my argument is this, since technically
we are doing Breakfast at the moment, and even though
it's addressed to Menigah and Jerry, is it fine that
(39:22):
we steal it?
Speaker 2 (39:23):
Yeah, that's tricky. It's tricky when I can see you
think of the big thing I guess is they're not
going to know what's been sent in for them because
oftentimes these things come in and it's just somebody's just
doing it. I'm thinking, O, these guys would appreciate it,
so it's not like they know that it's going to
be coming. So you know, if tree falls in the
woods and no one's there to hear it, can we
steal all this shit? Yes? Exactly. My feeling is yes,
(39:46):
that's my find The other problem that you have, though,
of course, is the questions do you actually want it?
Because you think you want it because it's free, and
then you look at it and you go, oh, this
is just a bunch of old tat.
Speaker 5 (39:55):
Yeah. The other way I justify it, fellas, not justify it,
potentially justify it is you know, does Jerry need free
stuff that well? Yes, you know what I mean, he
probably owns the factory that made all that free stuff.
It's true, so true, you know he.
Speaker 4 (40:10):
Doesn't care exactly two very good points. Yeah, So me
thinking what Jay, Well, I'm thinking we just I mean,
don't even want to phrase it as stealing because, as
you say, they will never know about it.
Speaker 2 (40:23):
That's right.
Speaker 4 (40:23):
Jerry's is rich airs, so I'm just taking it off
their hands, unbeknownst to them.
Speaker 5 (40:29):
And also to make you feel better, heaps, people are
stealing stuff three four eight three it's lighting up, yes,
good fellers. I steal drinks, doormats and polishing cloth. I
frequently steal milk and sugar. Yeah, well those.
Speaker 2 (40:44):
Sort of those are all sort of cornerstones of your
home life. I used to when I was on the
unemployment benefit. Yes, times are tough. This is about thirty
years ago. They I used to pop over to the
McDonald's there and I would steal the tomato sauce, the salt,
the paper, the napkins going to the toilet, get this
toilet rolls and the toilet brush. Yeah why the bush well,
(41:07):
not a toilet brush because I was a I didn't
clean the toilets.
Speaker 5 (41:09):
And also, once you're stilen one, you don't need to
keep stealing it.
Speaker 4 (41:12):
I like, Hm Mogi was on the doll for a
period of time too. And you know, and my when
my family was very young and we were completely broke.
Toilet paper was a biggie for us, right.
Speaker 2 (41:24):
Steal a lot of toilet Why would you spend money
on that when it's free?
Speaker 4 (41:27):
Ecdonald exactly. The other thing I used to gather somehow
was pins. I always had a lot of pins.
Speaker 2 (41:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (41:35):
Someone here used to be a delivery driver. Used to
always steal a burger or a drink and then blame
the restaurant. So there's someone here is stealing diesel from work.
Speaker 2 (41:44):
Oh yeah, it's good.
Speaker 5 (41:46):
So what are you thinking, Jays?
Speaker 2 (41:47):
You're going to go for it?
Speaker 4 (41:47):
Yeah, totally, you steal it. I mean you guys are
with me, aren'tie a.
Speaker 2 (41:52):
Bunch of stuff that's out there and decide whether you
should steal it or not.
Speaker 4 (41:55):
Okay that. In the meantime, here's a c DC.
Speaker 1 (42:02):

Now listen for those that are interested the West Indies
currently one hundred and eight for five. The picture is
absolutely turning a mile and I don't think I've ever
seen New Zealand play four Spinners before.
Speaker 2 (42:40):
Yeah, it's quite unbelievable. Yeah, and it's a it's a classic.
Well this is this is a series being played in
the West Indies, isn't it, Jase. It's one of those
series where, well it's on so we'll watch it, yes,
But outside.
Speaker 4 (42:54):
Of that, Yeah, I don't really really care at all.
Speaker 5 (42:58):
The weird thing for me is it's on air. Is
that normal?
Speaker 2 (43:02):
Well, I think because there'll be some kind of a
deal that's come out of coming out of the West Indys.
But you'll find that Sky probably doesn't want to pay
for it. Yeah, fair enough, because they have so many
of these sort of bilateral series and.
Speaker 5 (43:15):
They're just like, you know, no one cares on Sky,
I guess. So it's a win win, Yes it is.
Speaker 4 (43:21):
Hey, Now listen, coming up next, we're going to be
speaking to All Black and Tom Lennett Brown.
Speaker 2 (43:27):
But in the meantime, here's she Hap.
Speaker 1 (43:29):
The Hohodiching Big Show with Jason, Mike and Keyzy. Tune
in week days at four on radio hod.
Speaker 4 (43:34):
Ikey is indeed she had there on the Big Show
Breakfast this Tuesday morning. The time is nine minutes past
eight o'clock, and we were just talking about stuff we
steal from work. Now I've been wrongly accused of.
Speaker 2 (43:47):
Being a bit of a thief around the workplace.
Speaker 4 (43:49):
Yes, I am fond of your odd packet of chippies.
Speaker 5 (43:53):
You see them every single day.
Speaker 4 (43:55):
But I but I think that's just been sort of
blown all out of proportion.
Speaker 2 (43:59):
Yeah, stealing them, yeah, I mean you steal them every
single day we bought it out.
Speaker 5 (44:04):
Yeah, and from flavor to you steal their shapes.
Speaker 2 (44:06):
Oh yeah. And I'm a bad one for that. But
what am I meant to do the Yeah, well exactly.
Speaker 4 (44:11):
I mean, if there's really yummy food longer and I'm
just gonna eat it.
Speaker 5 (44:14):
Yeah, would you steal a loaf of bread to steal
it to feed your family?
Speaker 2 (44:17):
You know what I mean?
Speaker 5 (44:18):
It's that sort of thing.
Speaker 2 (44:19):
Yeah, that's right, totally yes.
Speaker 4 (44:21):
And I was posing the question because we don't get
sent stuff when we're doing the drive show, but I've
noticed that the Breakfast boys get sent a plethora of items,
and I thought, well, technically speaking, here we're doing the
breakfast show. That should be our stuff.
Speaker 5 (44:35):
I would agree with you if it said breakfast show
on the items, but it says very specifically Maniah and Jerry.
Speaker 2 (44:41):
Yeah, but if they weren't doing the breakfast show, they
wouldn't be getting I wouldn't be getting it. And it
also says mourning on this one. So I think they're
getting it because they're doing breakfast you know.
Speaker 4 (44:51):
You see and what you can do because it does
say to this one, for example, to Maniah, just wrap
that tag off you see.
Speaker 5 (44:58):
Oh wow, yeah, and you've ripped the bags.
Speaker 4 (45:01):
It's not on there anymore, so it never existed.
Speaker 5 (45:04):
You've damaged the property.
Speaker 2 (45:06):
But the other part of this jas of course, is
you know, you see free stuff, you think you want it,
but when you have upon closer inspection, you might find
out that you really don't want to. For example, there's
a couple of bags here from a food delivery service.
It's as far as I'll go, that's all the mention
they're going to get, because I've seen us nothing. Yes,
there's one for Jurumi is outspelled here and one over
(45:27):
there for the nine. Now, if you go through the box,
there's a massive box of thirty serves of some kind
of packet larte. Yum, No, so I would I wouldn't
bother stealing that.
Speaker 4 (45:41):
Yeah, I've got cappuccino in my one there. Now, this
is something that I think could be handy for the
big show because I've noticed that Kezy since we've been
doing breakfast, has got very droopy eyed. And I've got
here a hydra bomb Kezy, I sheep mask, rejuice eyebags
(46:01):
and reduce dark circles. I'll check that over to you.
You can just slather that all over yourself because you're
looking sharking at the moment.
Speaker 2 (46:10):
There's also a twin peck of socks.
Speaker 4 (46:13):
Yeah I like those.
Speaker 2 (46:14):
Yeah, well you say that, but then they're ten backs.
That's good, the ten backs, which means they're made out
of not natural fibers. Jason, I worry about your feet
not breathing because they reek absolutely reek when you come
in here and you unleash the hound.
Speaker 4 (46:28):
Well, fortunately though, on that front, there's also a recks
owner Advanced Protection Sports. So if I just squirt a
bit of that on there on the shoes, sweet airs, right,
So I'll.
Speaker 5 (46:42):
Be keeping that okay. So, and what was that you
brought a four pack of something in?
Speaker 6 (46:47):
What was that?
Speaker 2 (46:47):
Yeah? What's it? Four peck you got over the jizbot.
Speaker 4 (46:50):
We've got easy missed spray. Wait and forget shower witch.
Now I know you'll be needing some of that two
keys because why is that again?
Speaker 2 (47:01):
Wow? Just because of the filth that happens in your shower.
Speaker 4 (47:04):
You'll need to squirt that.
Speaker 2 (47:05):
Around app.
Speaker 4 (47:08):
Today this is a new Please tell me about the no, no, look,
I don't want to get into the details. It's breakfast time, Geezy.
People are probably huming into their porridge. They don't want
to know about your shower filth.
Speaker 5 (47:17):
Good stuff. All right, Well, we're gonna go to a
tune and hopefully when we get back, a chat with
someone from the All Blacks.
Speaker 2 (47:25):
And also just to know what you've been stealing from
work you're sick the.
Speaker 1 (47:30):
Whole aching Big Show with Jason, Mike and Kezy. Tune
in week days at four on Radio hod Iks.
Speaker 4 (47:35):
Indeed, the Red Chili Peppers here on the Big Show.
Breakfast this Tuesday morning. The time sixteen minutes past eight o'clock,
and we've got All Black, All Black, Anton Lennard Brown
on the phone, get a anton.
Speaker 6 (47:50):
How's life your good leads have you going on? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (47:54):
Very good, thanks mate.
Speaker 4 (47:55):
Now it's the start of a new regime, isn't it
with old Dave any there? I know you've had some
experience with him in the past. Two from two for
you fellows, so a good start. But I've got the
feeling and toon. There's stuff that you need.
Speaker 6 (48:10):
To work on, yeah and bang on there obviously years
we got to get well. We've only been together for
a couple of weeks now, so yeah, combinations and during
the game plan and stuff. Yeah, there's there's planning to
work on. But there's been some good stuff as well.
Speaker 5 (48:30):
Antonino le Brown keazy here mate, I hope you were
this morning. You've played for Dave Rennie for Bloody Ages man.
You played with him, you know, at the Chiefs for
a long time over in Japan as well with the
Kobelco Steelers. He's involved with that side as well. So
when he was chosen to be the next All Black coach,
were you absolutely stoked?
Speaker 2 (48:49):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (48:49):
I guess it worked out all right. It was a
funny one because I sort of went over topan to
get away from rugby and get away from it all
and then midway through the season, your head coach in
Japan becomes all that's coach.
Speaker 2 (49:02):
So you were like, sweet, I'm sad for five years.
Speaker 6 (49:08):
Yeah, well you could say that or could go the
other way.
Speaker 5 (49:12):
Yeah, yeah, he's been watching your play in Japan. You
might have to pull your bootstraps up a week. But
that's not saying does making anything I had.
Speaker 6 (49:19):
I had to have less bedos and less ramons, which
was unfortunate.
Speaker 4 (49:23):
But yeah, well, you know, having said that, I mean,
what are Dave renny? Because there will be people out
there that don't know much about him. What are his qualities?
Speaker 2 (49:31):
Mate?
Speaker 4 (49:31):
Because he because that second half of the second half
there against Italy, he was effin and Jeffin in the
box there he wasn't happy.
Speaker 6 (49:39):
Yeah, yeah, he's he sets really high standards. He knows
the game like through, you know, out and out, he
knows every detail of the game. And he's just a
great person like himself. And then he gets great people
around him who are who are really good at what
they do. So you know, I always remember saying when
(50:00):
I sat at the Chiefs, you know, he just wants
hard work and good buggers, and that's what I feel
like we've got on this group. You know, we understand
we're you know, the standard we need to be it
and that's probably why you see frustration there, because we
know we can be so much better. But amongst it
there's some really good stuff.
Speaker 2 (50:18):
You've just got to go easy on yourself and to man,
it's not going to happen overnight. Brother, You'll get there. Yeah,
and it sounds like he's all about connection. I remember
seeing something with Liam Messon where he was talking about
you guys having to hit shrike or find your way
somewhere to get some community work done, and Liam jumped
(50:38):
on Twitter and said, does anyone want to come and
pick me? And Sonny Bill Williams up. We're heading over
to x y Z. And then the car turned up
and Sonny Bill wasn't there. It was just Lia Messim
trying to get a free ride and using Sonny Bill
as the bait. Is that a big thing for him?
It's not just about the team, it's not just what
happens on the picture and within the organization. It's about
(50:59):
connection to the fans in the community.
Speaker 6 (51:02):
Yeah, for sure, you know he understands it really well.
He understands how important you know, the stands and community
are and then the connection amongst the players as well.
You know, obviously playing the games a big part of
what we do, but it's only one part. You've got
to grow the connection and you've got to be really
clear of who you're playing for. And that's what he
does well.
Speaker 5 (51:22):
Anton Lettard Brown, you know you've been around the All
Black squad for quite a while now. Some of these
young fellas that are coming through that are you know,
fans are getting very excited to watch. Are there some
that you see coming through that excite you as a player?
Speaker 2 (51:36):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (51:37):
I think no, that is plenty of young talent coming through.
Speaker 2 (51:40):
Obviously.
Speaker 6 (51:41):
Well I don't know he can call him young now,
but Camero Reguard C nine, Yeah, absolutely, you know, and
Reuben Love's been looking at him. Tim Josh Morby, he's
not that young, but he was a seal fishal off
the bench last week. And yeah, some of our young
forwards coming through as well. It's good to see it.
It's funny when I first started playing rugby, you know,
(52:05):
it was not quite as professional as it is now,
so you get these young kids who were who were
really you know, top notch professionals coming through and you
can see see what they can do on the field.
Speaker 2 (52:16):
It's pretty cool, An John.
Speaker 4 (52:18):
Finally, mate, you've got the Irish this weekend. Bloody tough
side the Irish. The last sort of three or four years,
they've been something special. That's going to be a real
test for you fellas.
Speaker 6 (52:29):
Yeah, for sure, we know a massive one ahead of us,
but I think in our focus in these first few weeks,
it's just on on our south and in us getting better. No,
at our best, we can be the best in the world.
So that's what it's sort of focusing on. So yeah,
and we look forward to playing in this weekend.
Speaker 5 (52:50):
Yeah, that game happening at Eden Park. Anton Letar Brown.
Just before I let you go, mate, I'm going to
Japan later in the year, and obviously you spent a
bit of time over there. What's what's the best tie
for Rahmen to order?
Speaker 6 (53:02):
I'd go Tom Kotsu Ramond Tom.
Speaker 2 (53:07):
Beautiful. Do you know what that is?
Speaker 4 (53:09):
Jakes, Yeah, totally I do.
Speaker 6 (53:10):
Man.
Speaker 4 (53:11):
Hi, Anton Lennet Brown, We appreciate your time this morning, mate,
Go well this weekend.
Speaker 2 (53:18):
Thanks mate. One of the great all blocks the Jason.
Speaker 5 (53:23):
Yeah, go back to when you said the name wrong.
Speaker 4 (53:27):
Yeah, I'm glad you brought that up bagas you know, Jesus,
it happens.
Speaker 1 (53:33):
The Hiarchy Big Show week days from four on Radio Hidarchy.
Speaker 2 (53:41):
Sporting Barrens.
Speaker 9 (53:45):
It is eight thirty one Time for your latest sport headlines.
Thanks to Export Ultra. The beer for here, thanks Expert Ultra.
The black Cap Spin Bowl is a running rampant in
the second One Day Cricket International against the West Indies
and Michael Bracewell and Mitchell Satner eliminated both openers.
Speaker 2 (54:04):
This what are we? One?
Speaker 10 (54:06):
Twenty nine for seven in the thirtieth over.
Speaker 2 (54:09):
JOm Bombue thirty first over Jim thirty first, zero.
Speaker 9 (54:16):
Zero up to one as oh yes, yeah, its add
one up, there we go, thirty one overs, there we go.
Speaker 2 (54:23):
Woom.
Speaker 9 (54:24):
It's actually just got there. It's one hundred and thirty
for seven now overs thirty one.
Speaker 5 (54:31):
So we're doing a commentary.
Speaker 9 (54:32):
Yeah, I get all day here, Okay, I'll move on
to the next one. New Zealand's hopes of a long
awaited Under twenty World Rugby Championship title of Rover after
losing to France twenty six twenty two in the semi
finals in Georgia. Jum Blobue MMA star Connor McGregor insists
he'll fight again in the UFC despite needing surgery after
(54:55):
a first round loss to Max Holloway. On Sunday, MacGregor
turns thirty Today.
Speaker 2 (55:03):
Sport with Rod.
Speaker 9 (55:05):
I've got a sting now, okay, I actually do have
a women's sports I should hope.
Speaker 11 (55:10):
So finally, such a big deal, make an issue continuing
to admit their achievements from the sports news brand, and
I for one am not impressed.
Speaker 2 (55:21):
Let's hear it.
Speaker 10 (55:23):
Princess Kate has presented the Royal Chair.
Speaker 4 (55:26):
It's this woman's day chat.
Speaker 2 (55:29):
No, let me get to it.
Speaker 9 (55:31):
She has presented the Champion Trophy to Yarnick Sinner in
the men's singles final at Wimbledon.
Speaker 4 (55:37):
So your woman's sport is the princess presenting an award
to a male athlete.
Speaker 5 (55:44):
That's right, but I suppose it is women's sport.
Speaker 2 (55:47):
You're a shocking bastard. Bread good work, fella.
Speaker 1 (55:52):
The hold Aking Big Show with Jon, Mike and Kezy
tune in week days at four on Radio.
Speaker 2 (55:57):
Hold Aking comes.
Speaker 4 (56:00):
Roses there on the Big Show Breakfast this Tuesday morning.
The time is eight forty eight currently the Western he's
one thirty seven for eight. For those that are interested, fellas,
there was something that I wanted to ask you, And
it's something that I do all the time, and I
think most of us do. It's a pretty normal thing,
and that is when you're about to meet up with
(56:21):
someone and or a group of people, do you before
you do that, rehearse your conversation, Like, for example, today
when I'm walking in the CBD. She's cold and went
out there, and I'm walking along and I'll out loud
be talking to myself saying, oh, good eight fellows, how
(56:42):
are you going?
Speaker 11 (56:43):
Really you're rehearsing because I know that I'm meeting up
with you or Jesus, I tell you what, fellows had
a shocker last night?
Speaker 2 (56:52):
Really you do that even coming to meet up, even
coming to meet you guys, So do.
Speaker 5 (56:55):
You practice, because most days you come in a whoor
of a mood? Do you practice coming in of them?
Speaker 4 (57:00):
Sometimes I'll go, this is the thing about rehearsing it
you go, oh, that's just all two g it's all
too good, you know. And sometimes I'd be like, yeah, whatever, keysy, yeah,
you know, and just sort of getting a feel for it.
But do you in all seriousness do you rehearse when
you've got an upcoming, you know, meeting with people.
Speaker 2 (57:20):
Do you rehearse what you say? No, No, I don't,
and I've never heard of it. I don't and I've
never heard of it, and I'd be worried about my
mental health. That's uh, that's considering. So you're walking through
the CBD all hours of the morning talking to yourself, yes,
saying good a fellows, good a fellows, your mad dog?
You know.
Speaker 4 (57:39):
For example, I mean, I'll finish the show of Day
and I'll be walking through the CBD there and I'll
be like, oh, good eight darling. Oh Kesey was of
the mood today, you know what I mean? Just and
she'll be like oh, and then I'll protict what she's
gonna say. Okay, yeah, I reckon.
Speaker 5 (57:55):
So when you're talking to the fellas on the way into.
Speaker 4 (57:57):
Work, yes, it's not always the fellows, but general ye say,
you know.
Speaker 5 (58:01):
Other fellas over there? What do you mean are the
fellas that you're talking to? Are they over there?
Speaker 7 (58:06):
No?
Speaker 5 (58:07):
Right, So I'm literally in crow beautiful mind situation.
Speaker 4 (58:11):
I'm literally walking along you know, I haven't seen him
mate for a long time, you know, And I'll go
and I'm meeting him at one for launch, and I'll
be like, oh, good mate, haven't seen you for a while.
Speaker 2 (58:21):
You're saying this out loud.
Speaker 4 (58:22):
Saying it out loud. Yeah, I mean we all do
that though, right Na.
Speaker 5 (58:25):
My wife will quite often go oh, like before she
calls someone, she'll go, okay, so I'm going to call him,
say hey, I'm calling in about blah blah blah, just
to get it such nice and concise in her head. Yes,
that's the only thing even vaguely similar to.
Speaker 4 (58:37):
This, right, because I don't want to come in and
just immediately see the fellas and be stumbling all over
my words and stuff like that. I want you to go,
hoy jay, he's here, he's on.
Speaker 2 (58:46):
Well, I also see that you when you sort of
wandering around in the studio here when we've got a
couple of tunes on and keys has given us the
cold shoulder, you're sort of be walking around, sort of
staggering around yan and to yourself, muttering to yourself. Everyone
does that, What is that? What are you doing when
you're doing that? What are you talking about? Because if
you're talking about you know, sort of coming into work
(59:08):
and you know, laying us all out or something like that.
You know, I've got some issues, Jase. I feel it
is because of what it feels like, because we've got
a Golumn Sniegel situation where you've got the precious ring.
We're trying to steal the ring off you, and you're
going to strangle us and and and dunk us in
the river, and obviously the various physical similarities. Well, but
in the studio it's different though, because I'm already here.
(59:30):
What are you talking about?
Speaker 4 (59:31):
So what I'm talking about is much lower pitch. It's
how you're going.
Speaker 2 (59:34):
You're doing all right there, You're right, jeez, the show's
going well. Fields.
Speaker 4 (59:38):
And then I'll come back and I'll sit down and
I go, oh, Jesus, show's going well.
Speaker 2 (59:42):
Fielmals right.
Speaker 5 (59:44):
And then I'll say something and do you go, oh,
that wasn't what I thought he'd say.
Speaker 4 (59:47):
Yeah, Yeah, sometimes they do and I go, oh, that's
when I go to the keysies in a horror of
the mood sort of thing. Yeah, but I think it
is quite common, right.
Speaker 2 (59:54):
Sure, it's not common at all. Pugs.
Speaker 7 (59:58):
Do you do it?
Speaker 2 (59:59):
No, Puss. So you're the only one that I know
that does it. And this is the first time, at
forty nine years old, that I've even heard of this happening.
I've seen it on the street, but I never had
one of them say to me, this is normal, right, Maggie,
because they knew even though they were natters, that they
were natters.
Speaker 3 (01:00:16):
Does that clear?
Speaker 2 (01:00:17):
And I mean that in a politically correct way.
Speaker 1 (01:00:21):
The Hurdarchy Big Show weekdays from four on Radio Hod.
Speaker 4 (01:00:25):
Yes, indeed, Bush there this Tuesday morning. The time is
exactly eight point fifty nine and you're listening to the
Big Show Breakfast.
Speaker 5 (01:00:36):
What's on the news with me Jeezy Fellas. This news
comes from Cypress. Do you know where Cypress is?
Speaker 2 (01:00:47):
Yeah, Cypress Hell. I know where Cypress Hell is?
Speaker 5 (01:00:50):
Were Cypress Hell, Los Angeles? Yeah, that's the rap group
No Cypress the place?
Speaker 2 (01:00:57):
Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:00:58):
So there was a teenager named la lad skuridin thirteen.
He was at home playing video games on his computer,
which sound like.
Speaker 2 (01:01:17):
Shut up, I'm telling you, Joseph Man, you don't need
to tell me the mental health.
Speaker 5 (01:01:27):
While he was playing video games on his computer. While
he was playing video games on his computer, Lightning struck
his home, and the lightning traveled through all of the This.
Speaker 2 (01:01:44):
Guy ends up being the flash. I'm going to be
human up with super powers of any kind. Yea, I'm
telling you, I'm dragging you out of the studio. The
lightning striking his hand. Did that release him into the
next level?
Speaker 5 (01:01:56):
It released him into the next level? As they say
in video game World. No, it didn't release him into
the next level. What happened?
Speaker 2 (01:02:03):
I mean released not released him, but it got him.
Speaker 5 (01:02:08):
It's struck his house. Yeah, they've gone to the next level.
Al right, maybeoo stoosh. It traveled through the electrical cables
and that onto his desk. That he was because he
was doting a PC and his disc was made out
of metal, and his arm was resting on his desk
while he's playing PC and there's one big conduit from
(01:02:29):
the lightning through everything through the disk to him. He
got struck by lightning for playing video games whilst in
a lightning storm. Good staff, And it's a real possibility
that it could happen.
Speaker 4 (01:02:51):
So did he like, you know, did that sort of
refillers emma or something?
Speaker 6 (01:02:58):
Oh?
Speaker 5 (01:03:01):
Reload?
Speaker 2 (01:03:02):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (01:03:02):
Did he reload? Did he get the magic Saber, the
magic Saber.
Speaker 5 (01:03:08):
How do you know about the magic Saber. It's not
a real thing.
Speaker 2 (01:03:13):
That's a good story, that's just happening of the news.
Speaker 3 (01:03:15):
How easy nowdays?
Speaker 5 (01:03:17):
Did I know? He's not He's fine. He lives with
his mum and Hardley. It'says here.
Speaker 4 (01:03:24):
Here's the Black Keys.
Speaker 1 (01:03:27):
The Hurdichy Big Show with Jason, Mike and Keysey. Tune
in week days at four on Radio Hodarkey.
Speaker 4 (01:03:33):
Rage against the Machine. There on the Big Show Breakfast
this Tuesday morning. But right now it's time for What's
on the Telly with Mike Minogue.
Speaker 2 (01:03:47):
Yeah, last night the news of Samuel's passing came through
and so that sort of derailed any TV viewing ideas
that I had, But I did end up watching. I
did go on to Netflix and just search sam Neil's name,
because you can do that, Jason, you could just see
(01:04:08):
all the things that are on there that have got
sam neillen. Then about this man.
Speaker 4 (01:04:12):
Yeah, wow, it's a pretty good trick.
Speaker 2 (01:04:15):
So I've gone on there and there is a whole
bunch of stuff on there which I'll be hooking into tonight.
Particularly want to see the earlier stuff. But I couldn't
find what I was looking for. And I was looking
for this on the Apple Store as well, was Sleeping Dogs.
I can't find that one anyway, Dogs New Zealand film.
He was thirty years old when he made it, I
think in nineteen seventy seven off the top of my head,
(01:04:38):
which is probably wrong. And yeah, he made that and
that was sort of the thing that got him sady.
He was thirty years old. There was his first feature film.
That was the one he did with Ian Mune as
we discussed on the podcast in the Roger Donald, who
went on to do worlds Fastest Indian and a slew
of international projects. Yes, I can't find that and that
(01:04:58):
annoys me. Annoys me about the digital age where the
digital streamers can decide what you can and cannot buy.
That annoys me.
Speaker 5 (01:05:07):
And also they once you've bought it, they can at
any time turn off the service and just go. You know,
the thing that you own that's.
Speaker 2 (01:05:12):
Gone, that's gone now one hundred percent. And that's the
world we're going to be living in. But that's said,
there's heaps of stuff on there. I recommend hooking into
that and I'll be doing that from tonight, going down
memory Lane with Sam Neil.
Speaker 4 (01:05:22):
Yeah, good plan man, Good plan fellows. On my Samsung television,
there's many, many channels. As we discussed yesterday, there's a channel,
a movie channel dedicated to Korean movies, and I've become
a massive fan of Korean movies. Watched one yesterday called Vertigo,
(01:05:42):
and what the Koreans do? I mean, it's beautifully shot.
The performers and actors are excellent, The performances are excellent.
Speaker 2 (01:05:51):
It's just visually pleasing.
Speaker 4 (01:05:53):
And I tell you what the Koreans do very very
very well as a horror really, you know, the spooky,
scary stuff. Yeah, so that's all. I've been sort of
watching Verdico, who was about a woman who had vertigo
and she was I don't want to get into it
because it's very involved in subtle.
Speaker 5 (01:06:09):
So it's about a woman who has vertigo.
Speaker 4 (01:06:11):
Yes, who works in this high tower, but it's also
about relationships and all sorts of stuff, and she's doing
all the work and everyone else is getting all the credit,
et cetera, et cetera.
Speaker 2 (01:06:22):
Et cetera.
Speaker 5 (01:06:22):
So it's like a keezy big show situation.
Speaker 4 (01:06:24):
She's in the love, she's in love with the boss.
But the boss is actually sleeping with a lot of
people and just using her, So you know, it was
a lot of sort of psychological drama going on.
Speaker 2 (01:06:35):
I'll give it four buzzies out of five. Wow, Holy heck.
Speaker 5 (01:06:39):
Have you you eat Korean quite often as well, don't you?
Does that joint down the road from your house and
you consume a lot of Korean film? Yes, I feel
like you are subliminately, subconsciously preparing yourself to move overseas,
probably to one of those Asian countries.
Speaker 4 (01:06:54):
Well, we did actually think about going to Korea. That
was going to be our family or South. That was
I'm not going to North with old Kim there, but.
Speaker 2 (01:07:04):
Com here's Shogunberg is there?
Speaker 4 (01:07:06):
But yes, that's definitely on the agenda. Quite seriously, he's
moving to Korea. No, not moving there, but certainly visiting.
Which are we going to be fascinating? We simply mask
when are you moving there? I'm not moving there. I'm
just saying it'll be a fascinating place to you know, investigate.
Speaker 2 (01:07:21):
Is it a new ship?
Speaker 5 (01:07:25):
Is that a big hanker.
Speaker 1 (01:07:30):
For the Hidiarchy Big Show week days from four on
Radio Hodik Levana.
Speaker 4 (01:07:35):
There on the Big show Breakfast this Tuesday morning. Now,
this morning, we were talking about the sad passing of
one of the new one of New Zealand's great the
one and only Sam Neil.
Speaker 2 (01:07:47):
Exactly right, Jay, a bit of a shock to the sys.
He did the big SA for a bit, but he
managed to beat that. And so last night I was
sort of just trolling through a whole bunch of content
about the to Neil and one of the things I
came across, which i'd seen a couple of years back,
a few years back and I had done really well.
(01:08:07):
There's a show in Australia called The Assembly, and on
that show you get famous people in there and they
talk to kids and the kids are the ones that
do the interviewing. So it's called The Assembly for that reason.
And in this this young girl asked Sam Neil a
question and he breaks down. I remember it was during
his treatment, but it had a nerve with me, so
I thought we'd play it out here.
Speaker 7 (01:08:29):
My parents were of the generation that went through a
lot of things. They went through the Depression. My mother
lost her father in the First War, so she grew
up without her father. Yeah, so they went through a
lot of stuff. A lot of stuff. But there were
very stoic people. And I'd had a year at the
(01:08:51):
university where i'd done bugger all, you know, I was
acting in plays and to find a girlfriend and you
know things. So it came to exam time and I
realized I've done almost no work. It got me very anxious.
(01:09:12):
I got her and mom said how are you doing?
And I said, oh, Mum, I think I'm having a breakdown.
And I've got exams in a couple of weeks and
I don't know how I'm going to go. And she
just looked at me and she said, well, you're just
going to have to pull yourself together. And I think
that was the best lesson I learned from her, is
(01:09:34):
sometimes you just have to pull yourself together.
Speaker 4 (01:09:38):
Yes, I remember watching that Claire backs and he did
get very emotional. Yeah, he was taken by surprise, but
very much. That was the sort of thinking of that
generation of people, wasn't it is pull yourself together and
get on with it.
Speaker 2 (01:09:50):
Well, it's got a lot of value now, it does.
There's no point falling apart if if you've got the
option to pull yourself together. And you know, Sam Neil,
we've we're talking earlier on about how he it was
constantly working and all that sort of thing. But I've
also seen chats with him where he talks about when
the jobs aren't coming thick and fast, when you do
have space, and what you get when you go on
to a film or some kind of project like that,
(01:10:11):
as you're occupying your mind and you're also getting that
family environment right where everything's great. But then when the
project ends and you have to go back to your
house and you're sitting there all alone, possibly you know,
the dark clouds can roll in. And I know that
he did have his issues battling the black Dog. So
there are times where you have to you have to
(01:10:34):
pull yourself together. I think, you know, there's probably a
lot that each of us could learn from that. Instead
of walloween, you shit together and get on with it.
Speaker 5 (01:10:42):
And yeah, man, how do you guys deal with it
when there's obviously no roles flooding in? I've never had to, Okay,
just because the current reality.
Speaker 2 (01:10:53):
What do you do?
Speaker 4 (01:10:55):
But that's totally right, because you are part of a
team when you you know, doing a play or you're
filming and stuff, and you do go back home and
you spend time in your own head and the old.
Speaker 2 (01:11:07):
Demon start hammering away. Oh I'm no good, I'm terrible,
I'm all that sort of stuff.
Speaker 5 (01:11:12):
Yeah, that happens, and you're like, oh, come on, broken Wood,
come back for another season please.
Speaker 2 (01:11:16):
You see I've got that now.
Speaker 4 (01:11:18):
Yeah, And it's a hit show around the world, and
so I'm very fortunate in that sense.
Speaker 2 (01:11:24):
Keezy, Yeah, you're the.
Speaker 1 (01:11:25):
Man the Hurdarchy Big Show weekdays from four on Radio Hdarchy.
Speaker 2 (01:11:36):
Well, there you go, your mad bastards.
Speaker 4 (01:11:38):
That's the Big Show, Breakfast, done and dusted this Tuesday morning. Now,
there may be people listening to us out there that
have never really listened to the Big Show. And one
of the things that we do is called the podcast Outro,
which are sort of bonus material that we do after
every show.
Speaker 2 (01:11:54):
It's a separate podcast.
Speaker 4 (01:11:57):
Today, we did it before the show, didn't we feel it.
Speaker 5 (01:12:00):
Traditionally we were on our drive show in the afternoon,
we did it before the show to warm up. Yeah,
But once we started doing Brick and we started doing
it after the show because we're lazy, because we're but
now we're like, let's get in real early five point
thirty and record at then. Yeah, yeah, This is a
clip from yesterday's podcast about the human form.
Speaker 2 (01:12:17):
I used to do a bit of modeling back in
the day. Actually noses there.
Speaker 5 (01:12:24):
Yeah, he posed for the Easter Island head they were carving.
Speaker 2 (01:12:28):
Those got something I got was today's podcast. It was
great stuff got mixed up.
Speaker 5 (01:12:42):
Yeah, so we have a lot of fun.
Speaker 2 (01:12:43):
A filling a Honker chair, finishing up here, going to work.
I am going to work actually yeah, quite finally, quite strangely,
I am doing breakfast radio in Australia. I've got to
go and do a zoom right talk about Sam Neil.
(01:13:04):
So I'm not quite sure how that's happened, but I'll
be going off to that Sunrise Sunrise on Channel seven
with Matt Shervington and Nat.
Speaker 5 (01:13:12):
Isn't it a TV?
Speaker 2 (01:13:13):
Yeah? Sunrise it's breakfast TV. What do I say radio?
I thought radio? It's TV now it's yeah yeah, yeah,
so old old Mogi. They're making up. They call him,
they do. They call him sure though, and I thought
they would call her Nadow but they don't. They call
her Nat.
Speaker 4 (01:13:29):
You're going to be like Shuvo, your mad Chevo.
Speaker 2 (01:13:32):
Your mad dog. And well he used to be an Olympian,
a runner, if I remember correctly, maybe too maybe a
four hundred meters, And I remember that he had a
particularly outstanding downstairs operation. Oh yeah, you might want to
ask him about it. Oh well, I think it seems
like the appropriate time should give him a backbone t shirt. Keezy.
Speaker 4 (01:13:51):
Uh, you said you're heading straight home for a Nana nat.
Speaker 5 (01:13:55):
I am heading home. I've got some jobs around the
old house. There got a plumber coming as well.
Speaker 2 (01:14:00):
How do you go to plumber coming? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (01:14:04):
I do.
Speaker 2 (01:14:04):
How do you get how do you get a plumeter com?
I don't know?
Speaker 5 (01:14:07):
You call them?
Speaker 2 (01:14:09):
Uh? And yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:14:11):
So I'll be head chat to the plumber and then
maybe have a nap after that.
Speaker 2 (01:14:14):
Jason, you'll be sefter that well.
Speaker 4 (01:14:16):
Funnily enough, I've got people coming over as well to
fix up the lights in my in my opinion electrician?
Speaker 2 (01:14:23):
Electrician?
Speaker 5 (01:14:23):
How do you get an electrician to come?
Speaker 4 (01:14:24):
And I think I've also got someone coming to Jesus
up out fridge, which is freezing at the moment.
Speaker 5 (01:14:33):
You might be looking in your freezer.
Speaker 4 (01:14:37):
