Speaker 1 (00:00):
For all you mad bastards loving the Big Show Podcast,
get up even closer on Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok, or
raw dog it four to seven every.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
Weekday on Radio Hodecky.

Speaker 3 (00:17):
Oh, good day, fellas.

Speaker 4 (00:24):
Good stuff, fellas.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
Okay, yeah. Monday, eh? Oh, that came around quick. Yeah,
it did. Fucking hell.

Speaker 2 (00:30):
Yeah, so am I, actually.

Speaker 5 (00:31):
We're tired today.

Speaker 4 (00:34):
Last night after the Come Dine With Me festivities, you
guys sent a lovely thank you message. My wife and
I were both already fast asleep. It was at about
9 p.m.

Speaker 1 (00:43):
Yeah. Fucking hell.

Speaker 4 (00:44):
I was so gassed when I got home.

Speaker 1 (00:46):
Yeah. Yes.

Speaker 5 (00:46):
Isn't it funny? I actually went to bed quite late.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
Did you?

Speaker 3 (00:50):
And I got up to watch the rugby live. which
was three, and we weren't planning on doing that, but
we both woke up at the same time. And then
we went back to bed, but I couldn't fall back
to sleep.

Speaker 4 (01:02):
There's no way you could sleep thinking about coming home
with the fellas.

Speaker 3 (01:05):
Well, especially after you've punched a couple of coffees.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
You would have been a nervous wreck, were you, yesterday?

Speaker 2 (01:11):
No, I was.

Speaker 5 (01:12):
Just– I had moments of what am I doing?

Speaker 1 (01:16):
Yeah, I saw some of those moments.

Speaker 2 (01:18):
What am I doing here?

Speaker 4 (01:20):
Me and Mogi witnessed a hilarious– are you with the
duck fat?

Speaker 2 (01:23):
Oh, yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:24):
So, like, Jase is standing in front of the oven.
He cuts the top off a packet of duck fat.

Speaker 1 (01:28):
Could I just paint a picture and say that the
layout of the apartment, I was quite lucky at my
place because where people were hanging out was not in
plain view of the kitchen.

Speaker 4 (01:37):
There's a big fireplace in the way.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
And I'm very, very happy about that. And that was
not the case with your place, Jase. You could see
everything that was going on in there should you choose to.

Speaker 4 (01:45):
Yeah, and me and Maggie were watching it.

Speaker 1 (01:47):
It was fantastic. Try and open the packet.

Speaker 4 (01:50):
You cut the top of the packet of duck fat,
went to pour it in, but then realised that there
was another packet inside the packet.

Speaker 1 (01:57):
Yes.

Speaker 4 (01:57):
Pulled that out, cut the top completely off that, which
is like a little bladder of duck fat.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
Yes.

Speaker 4 (02:02):
Poured half of it in and then put that back
in the bigger packet and then walked around with the
big packet for a while, opened the fridge and then
closed the fridge and still had the big packet, put
it on the breakfast bar and then walked away and
then came back, picked it up and put it back
to where you were.

Speaker 1 (02:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:18):
And I was just watching like, where's he going.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
To put that duck fat? Yeah, exactly. Fuck, it was good.

Speaker 3 (02:22):
It wasn't resealable, I don't think, that smaller packet.

Speaker 5 (02:24):
So that's why I put it back. Back in the
bigger packet.

Speaker 3 (02:27):
Yeah, like 40 minutes before you guys arrived. Because it
was all planned, timing wise. But then it was like.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
The deadline looms.

Speaker 5 (02:35):
It loomed, but certain things weren't happening at certain times.
So we had to improvise.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
You could have cut the tension with a knife when
you walked through the door.

Speaker 4 (02:45):
Well, you were there first. We drove past you. You
were there at 2.03 or whatever it was.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
Yeah, that's right. That's right.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
Hammering on the door.

Speaker 5 (02:52):
Open the bloody door.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
Yeah, it was great fun, wasn't it?

Speaker 2 (02:56):
Yes.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
We had a lovely time.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
Yes, indeed.

Speaker 4 (02:58):
Always good. Two more to go, though, fellas. How good
is that?

Speaker 1 (03:01):
That's lovely.

Speaker 5 (03:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
Looking forward to it.

Speaker 2 (03:03):
It'll be good.

Speaker 4 (03:04):
So my wife is deep in planning mode.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
Is she?

Speaker 4 (03:07):
Deep.

Speaker 2 (03:09):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (03:09):
The toughest thing for her is the entertainment because she's
very into cooking. Yes. But it's the entertainment part. She's like,
what are we going to do?

Speaker 1 (03:16):
And I'm like, that's fine. We'll be fine.

Speaker 4 (03:17):
We'll figure something out.

Speaker 1 (03:19):
It'll be sweet. I can't wait.

Speaker 2 (03:20):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
I can't wait for that. We might do.

Speaker 4 (03:23):
It's me with me, Keezy. It's me with me, Keezy.

Speaker 2 (03:29):
And then what? Yeah, that's the thing.

Speaker 1 (03:31):
We don't know.

Speaker 5 (03:31):
We don't know what it is.

Speaker 1 (03:32):
That's the surprise, isn't it? That's the good stuff. Something
with me, Keezy could be funny. It sort of feels
like some kind of a ballroom dance or, you know,
something like that.

Speaker 5 (03:41):
If it's dancing, I'm leaving.

Speaker 4 (03:44):
So if we packed up the table and pushed everything
to the sides and then my wife and I did
a choreographed dance.

Speaker 1 (03:48):
Five, six, seven, eight. if you did the dance you
did the dance from your wedding yeah you would like
that yeah it'd be great zero stars that's the thing
you don't want to be trying too hard and like
look at us do this crazy shit like you don't
want I think it's not about that no no no
if anything it's got to be funny I don't.

Speaker 5 (04:07):
Know how to be funny yeah it is an issue.

Speaker 1 (04:12):
But your wife's very funny yeah she's hilarious just let
her lead it I'll just let her read out one
of my school reports yeah.

Speaker 4 (04:17):
Yeah that'll do Excellent.

Speaker 1 (04:21):
It actually would do. The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from
4 on Radio Hauraki.

Speaker 5 (04:30):
Now that's good listening. And it's live.

Speaker 1 (04:33):
What are you listening to there?

Speaker 2 (04:35):
Oh, me?

Speaker 5 (04:36):
Oh, sorry.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
I was listening to the Radio Hauraki Big Show.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
Right.

Speaker 4 (04:42):
Four to seven weekdays.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
Yeah, that's quite specific.

Speaker 4 (04:46):
And iHeartRadio.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
What? Cheers. Cheers.

Speaker 4 (04:51):
The Hauraki Big Show Podcast.

Speaker 5 (04:53):
But yes, the weekend has come around very quickly and
now it's Monday. I mean, I love a Monday. I mean,
it's got a whole week of big show.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
Big shows, yeah.

Speaker 2 (05:01):
You know what I mean?

Speaker 1 (05:02):
Five big shows. Well, what I like is that it's
spring tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (05:05):
September.

Speaker 1 (05:07):
Is it? We're into September, which is great.

Speaker 3 (05:10):
That's what I was asking my wife today. When's Daylight Savings?
Does anyone know off the top of their head?

Speaker 1 (05:16):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (05:16):
Hey Siri, when's Daylight Savings?

Speaker 1 (05:21):
She's not talking to you.

Speaker 4 (05:21):
Table saving is Sunday the 4th.

Speaker 1 (05:24):
Oh, wait. Ends Sunday the 4th of April. Begins Sunday
the 27th of September. So we're still a month away.
A date to form a birthday. How perfect.

Speaker 2 (05:32):
There he is.

Speaker 5 (05:33):
We can all go out for a twilight hot pot.

Speaker 4 (05:36):
They don't have tables outside. We'd have to get a takeaway.

Speaker 1 (05:38):
And just have a picnic. And out here square. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (05:41):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 4 (05:43):
Do you know I'm already racking my brain as to
how I'm going to have a hot pot this week?

Speaker 2 (05:47):
Yeah, I'm booking one in.

Speaker 4 (05:50):
Because it's a spot inaccessible to me.

Speaker 2 (05:53):
Yes.

Speaker 4 (05:53):
It's by your house. But for me, it's like I
have to park and walk 10 minutes to get a
hot pot.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
Really?

Speaker 4 (05:58):
Yeah, it's like down way over Queen Street there.

Speaker 1 (06:02):
It's not bad.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
It'll take you 10 minutes to walk there, man. Yeah.
You're a fit young man.

Speaker 3 (06:07):
I know.

Speaker 1 (06:07):
Of course I am.

Speaker 4 (06:09):
Fit young man who wants a hot pot.

Speaker 5 (06:11):
Actually, I don't know how fit you are, but.

Speaker 4 (06:13):
No, not very.

Speaker 1 (06:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (06:14):
I'm a young man that wants a hot pot. I'm
not that young anymore, to be honest. I'm a man
eating a hot pot.

Speaker 2 (06:19):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (06:20):
I want hot pot. Give me a hot pot. Me
eat hot pot. I'm quite keen to try that, actually.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
Yeah, do.

Speaker 4 (06:26):
You'd fucking really enjoy it, man.

Speaker 1 (06:28):
I bet I would. I bet I would.

Speaker 4 (06:31):
Should we do a group hot pot?

Speaker 1 (06:32):
You're a shag. Are you all G? I'm buggered. I
don't know. It must have been– I had a pretty
good sleep. I had a pretty good sleep. Wasn't late
last night. That message to Hoere J, thanking him for
the evening from my wife, was a surprise to me
as well. I read that when I woke up in
the morning. Yeah. Yeah, I was done and dusted. And
I've been sweet all day. It's only when I've got here.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
Well, that'll be what it is.

Speaker 5 (06:53):
You had a good sleep.

Speaker 1 (06:54):
Well, I had a good... No, well, I've been fine
until I've got here.

Speaker 6 (06:56):
Right.

Speaker 1 (06:57):
But it's that time of day, isn't it? And I've done...
Being a big on my steps, Jase, I'm all about
it now, man. Good on you, mate. I'm going to
be a step punisher.

Speaker 5 (07:04):
Yes.

Speaker 1 (07:05):
Like Horty J, and we can do our daily step updates.
How's that sound? What did you do today? Well, this morning,
so what I'm trying to do is get up early
and get my wife out of the house and go
for a walk, drop the kid off at school, and
then do a big circuit.

Speaker 2 (07:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (07:17):
Because my wife's similar to me in that if she
gets in front of her computer, that's it. You can
forget about it. She's not going anywhere for the day. Yes.
So I'm just going to make a habit out of
that and then walk to work, walk here, and walk home.
Each day. Today I have done 8,000 so far.

Speaker 4 (07:32):
Wow, that's way more than me.

Speaker 1 (07:33):
I've done 3,500. So plus my walk home, I'll be
at my 10.

Speaker 2 (07:36):
Yes, we do.

Speaker 4 (07:37):
What about when you get your hog, though?

Speaker 1 (07:39):
Get my hog out. Oh, yeah, when does that happen?
It doesn't turn up until October.

Speaker 5 (07:43):
All right.

Speaker 1 (07:43):
So I've got a bit of time yet.

Speaker 5 (07:45):
That's going to be great.

Speaker 4 (07:52):
How many steps are you, Jase?

Speaker 5 (07:54):
I've had a very quiet thing on the step front today,
I think.

Speaker 4 (07:56):
It's going to be embarrassing, this.

Speaker 1 (07:57):
There we go.

Speaker 2 (07:58):
Is that a shocker? I have.

Speaker 1 (07:59):
Oh, God.

Speaker 4 (08:00):
To be fair, the day after, man, you're just on
the couch going, oh, absolutely wiped.

Speaker 3 (08:05):
4,617.

Speaker 2 (08:06):
Oh, that's shocking.

Speaker 1 (08:08):
More than me.

Speaker 2 (08:09):
And I've got to walk home again.

Speaker 1 (08:10):
What's your average, though? Does it tell you what your
average is?

Speaker 5 (08:13):
It's about just like.

Speaker 1 (08:14):
Tell you what your average is, though?

Speaker 3 (08:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (08:16):
I don't know if mine does.

Speaker 1 (08:18):
If you scroll down, it's you and your health. easy
yeah i'm on health yeah if you keep scrolling down
it gets to highlight for me anyway it says you're
walking more than you do on a typical day my
average is 3800 oh.

Speaker 4 (08:30):
I'm in i'm in fitness okay health here we go.

Speaker 6 (08:32):
This is exciting stuff it is no it's good man
i'll tell you what i know is i know that
step punishers are punishing but now that i've become one
yeah it's interesting to me.

Speaker 4 (08:45):
My average is just under 4,000 steps.

Speaker 1 (08:47):
That's not a lot. That's not bad. That's more than me.
That's more than me. I'm 3,800 is my average.

Speaker 4 (08:52):
But you can see the days I play golf.

Speaker 2 (08:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (08:54):
Boom, through the roof. Through the roof.

Speaker 1 (08:57):
Miles of the shit.

Speaker 5 (08:59):
I can't find my average.

Speaker 4 (09:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (09:01):
But from recollection, it was just shy of 10,000. Right.
There he is.

Speaker 4 (09:11):
Should we all walk to Hot Pot?

Speaker 1 (09:13):
Hot pot, baby.

Speaker 2 (09:15):
What, tonight?

Speaker 4 (09:16):
Just whenever.

Speaker 2 (09:17):
Yeah, I think so.

Speaker 1 (09:18):
This podcast feels like it's taken an hour so far. Wednesday.

Speaker 4 (09:21):
Should we hot pot Wednesday?

Speaker 5 (09:23):
No, because I'm hot potting Tuesday with my wife.

Speaker 1 (09:27):
I've got to.

Speaker 4 (09:28):
I've got a voucher to hot pot with you. No,
she's got a voucher to hot.

Speaker 1 (09:30):
Pot with me.

Speaker 2 (09:30):
Yeah, she took it off you.

Speaker 1 (09:32):
Yeah, that's right.

Speaker 5 (09:34):
And I was like, old hoody J will come along.
I was like, nah.

Speaker 4 (09:37):
Nah, it's just me and your wife having a hot pot.

Speaker 1 (09:39):
Yeah, how good. If you don't know what we're talking about, more.

Speaker 4 (09:41):
Info in the show today.

Speaker 1 (09:42):
More info in the show, proper.

Speaker 4 (09:45):
Yeah, because Wednesday I've got a thing after the show,
but I've emailed them.

Speaker 1 (09:48):
You've possibly got another thing. on the Wednesday night.

Speaker 4 (09:52):
Remember I've got that thing on Wednesday night until 9 p.m.

Speaker 1 (09:55):
In town there.

Speaker 4 (09:57):
And I've said to them, I do a radio show.
I'll get there at about 7. because I've been to
a lot of those sort of things you don't have
to be there the whole time and I'm like if
I can get out if I can get out there
you know maybe get there 7.30 and sneak in a
little hot pot but I don't think I'll be able
to though I don't think I'll be able to.

Speaker 1 (10:12):
Nah yeah gotta get out of there a little bit
because I'm going with you to that thing yeah okay Get.

Speaker 2 (10:18):
There early, eh?

Speaker 4 (10:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (10:19):
Early in, early out, fellas.

Speaker 1 (10:20):
Fucking Mogi just.

Speaker 2 (10:21):
Early out. Are you going to this thing as well,
are you? Yeah, we're all going.

Speaker 1 (10:25):
I am. The whole team.

Speaker 2 (10:26):
Oh, the whole team.

Speaker 1 (10:27):
Everybody's doing it. Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 4 (10:28):
Hot pot restaurant in town.

Speaker 1 (10:29):
Yeah. Right. I didn't think you'd be keen.

Speaker 4 (10:31):
They want us to be the ambassadors. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (10:33):
Okay, yeah, cool.

Speaker 4 (10:34):
And apparently it's like, it sucks because we have to
go there and do a little bit of a chat,
but then we get free hot pot for.

Speaker 1 (10:38):
The rest of the year. Oh, the rest of our lives.
The rest of our lives, is it?

Speaker 3 (10:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (10:42):
Not bad.

Speaker 4 (10:43):
Yeah, I mean, I'd rather get paid, but I guess
free hot pot.

Speaker 1 (10:45):
Oh, you can't beat that.

Speaker 2 (10:47):
Mm-hmm. Good stuff. We did it, fellas.

Speaker 4 (10:51):
If that hot pot brand was like, we need a
New Zealand ambassador, would you do it?

Speaker 2 (10:55):
Yeah, totally.

Speaker 4 (10:55):
Fuck I?

Speaker 2 (10:57):
100%. Definitely would.

Speaker 4 (10:58):
Have you seen the episode of The Simpsons where Homer
is Mr. Suds in Japan?

Speaker 1 (11:02):
He's that deodorant.

Speaker 6 (11:03):
Oh, yeah.

Speaker 4 (11:04):
That would be like Jace for the hot pot.

Speaker 1 (11:06):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (11:06):
That'd be fucking good.

Speaker 5 (11:07):
Excellent.

Speaker 4 (11:08):
Listen to the big show, four to seven week days,
Radio Haraki.

Speaker 6 (11:12):
Yeah, man.
