Speaker 1 (00:09):
You're listening to a podcast from news Talk said b
follow this and our wide range of podcasts now on iHeartRadio.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
The Rewrap There.

Speaker 3 (00:26):
Welcome to the Rewrap for Monday. All the best.

Speaker 4 (00:29):
But it's from the mic asking breakfast on News to
have said be in a sillier package. I am greenheartened today.
I guess EV sales must be absolutely surging in the
wake of the current climate.

Speaker 3 (00:44):
Move on orders.

Speaker 4 (00:45):
For some reason, Mike's going back with Back in Time
a few weeks to talk about this. The Warrior is
going from strength to strength, as is lieam Lawson. But yeah,
before any of that, this fuel shortage.

Speaker 3 (00:57):
Is there actually a fuel shortage? I still don't really know.
I mean, I know that petrol's really expensive, Mike.

Speaker 2 (01:03):
I keep twenty loot to fuel the time for the mower.
I was too embarrassed to fill up this week in
in case people thought I was finally I got two
five liters so that I would You couldn't take five
liters and be accused of stockpiling, could you? If I
took my two five liters in, they wouldn't go away
stockpiling again, would they?

Speaker 1 (01:20):
Mike?

Speaker 2 (01:21):
See you on the bus?

Speaker 3 (01:22):
Is that me?

Speaker 2 (01:22):
Am I making this up? But if you go back
to the start of the Ukraine War, would it have
been two dollars a liter? Because they remember we did
this at the time when it cracked petrol cracked two
dollars a liter, there was a material uptick in the
people taking public transport. Would that have been right five
years ago as petrol two dollars? Anyway, the point being
whenever it was two dollars was your trigger point? I'll
be interested to know what the trigger point is this

(01:45):
time if it continues to go up. I mean, it's
not even ninety one's not even three bucks yet, so
it's got a ways to go on average, that is, Mike,
did you see TV three leading with the stations running
out of gas? See this is the I don't know
what do you do about that? Is that your lead story?
When Gal I'm assuming goal put out a press release
saying in west Auckland they'd run out again. Are they
running out because they discount? Are they running out because

(02:06):
their supply is not particularly sophisticated. They're running out because
they've got small tanks at the petrol stations and people
buy a lot of petrol. I don't know, but there's
a line there to be walked between reality and hysteria.

Speaker 4 (02:19):
I did see a woman with a bunch of plastic
containers pulling those up at the service station. It's actually
the very the most expensive service station around. She was
doing that, so I thought that was an interesting call.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
Anyway, it's got a rewrap. So I guess evs are better.
But don't we make our electricity using.

Speaker 4 (02:48):
Gas and oil and stuff as a big coal and
presumably those things are going to be harder and harder
to get.

Speaker 3 (02:55):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (02:56):
They claim over the weekend, EV city owner Day Boots
is he's in christ Jurich. Sales of eb's have increased
by at least half this month. Auckland's ace V I
hope I've got that right. Sales were up thirty percent.
Were typically said about forty a month, but we're close
to that already for this month. And GVII says interest
in evs has wrapped up. Interest isn't the same as sales,

(03:19):
but it seems to be what I would. I read
one piece over the weekend that that puts some clarity
on it. They said the path is a long one
for most people. Most people do a lot of work,
a lot of study, a lot of thinking about how
an EV fits into their life. And they don't just
suddenly go in because petrol's three dollars a later and
go hey, can I have three EV's. Doesn't work that way.
So maybe it's real. Maybe it's my tank takes.

Speaker 4 (03:42):
It takes a couple of weeks for me to go
through a tank gas and I filled up sort of
as this was first starting this whole business, so petrill
hadn't really start to go up at that point. I've
got about a week to go. Maybe not quite. Maybe
the price will start coming down again, he said, hopefully,

(04:06):
as em we're at center an email saying their normal
flight schedule should have returned to normal scene even that
he's flying them was supposed to be in May.

Speaker 3 (04:16):
There's a lot of that tone of voice at the
end of my sentences at the moment wrapped.

Speaker 4 (04:21):
I'm sure people who are sleeping on the street are
really exercised by all this stuff.

Speaker 2 (04:26):
Another advice ignored story. So the trouble with advice is
it's not automatically right, or more often than not, the
media seems to think it counts for something, Hence their
obsession with coverage. Latest example, Paul Goldsmith ignored advice around
move on orders. Now the media plays these advice stories
up because it suits their increasingly obvious bias against the government.
But when you read the advice, it's a mixture of

(04:48):
the vague, the wrong and the made up. Now the
best part is the bit that says evidence listen to this,
evidence of a growing public disorder problem is limited. Are
they serious? They obviously work from home and looked out
the kitchen window at morning tea time and didn't see
any disturbances. Is there a person who have walked whose
walk down Queen Street, Auckland, Courtney Place in Wellington or

(05:10):
their environs and not seeing the trouble and upset? The
wanks apparently can't see. They go on police data showing
prosecutions for such offenses has declined in recent years. I repeat,
are they serious? What do you reckon? That is? Hey,
why do you reckon that is? Just because you didn't
prosecute someone doesn't mean it didn't happen. They also, in
a very political way, go on to lump all homeless

(05:32):
and rough sleepers into the same category. The media does
the same thing. It makes the very obvious and deliberate
mistake of assuming all homeless and rough sleepers are the same,
and like anyone else in life, they are not. And
the move on orders are not about anyone and everyone,
But they are about the ones who cause the trouble,
who abuse the shopper and stop the proprietor getting into
their business. And as far as I can see, the
aforementioned isn't actually mentioned in the advice at all. You know,

(05:55):
the poor bloke who owns a business and wouldn't mind
opening his door. At some point, the wonks might want
to ask about rights. As much as you might want
to argue for the right of a drug crazed lunatic
to be able to say what they want to do
what they want where they want, you might like to
wonder if a punter should be able to go about
their business unhinted out here in the real world. Of course,
the answer is yes, Hence the government move on orders.

(06:17):
That move reads the mood of the community and is
welcome and will be effective, and like the ramaids and
like the shop smashings, we'll be dealt with. The question
left is if that's the quality of advice that ministers get.
I see some reasonably large and obvious savings to be made.

Speaker 4 (06:32):
It's almost like we elect people who don't really have
any qualifications in the roles that they're about to be
in charge of, because that's sort of the system that
we have. And if they're not going to listen to
the experts, that is a bit of a worry. The
rewrap so beg weekend and sport again? Is it the

(06:53):
busiest time of year and sported around this.

Speaker 3 (06:55):
Time of the year? Anyway, go the Warriors?

Speaker 2 (06:58):
Eh, well, this time last week you might remember I
asked the very simple question how good are the Warriors?
Seven days on? How good are the Warriors? If the
Rooster's being spanked was impressive, in what category do you
put the Raiders? Like so many games, we start with
the other side scoring an early try. Raiders minor premieres,
We have a wonderful week one, expectations built. Is it

(07:18):
too good to be true? Four minutes in Canberra score
whoops BacT reality if you didn't see it, first half
was tight, nothing in it by the break. Trivial pursuit
question for you, how many people does it take to
stop Hellosima? Answer? More than the Raiders could muster That
guy's amazing, isn't he? But then so were so many
of the Warriors. Boyd as brilliant.

Speaker 4 (07:37):
Z A.

Speaker 2 (07:37):
Lesniak was back to his old self. Second half was
an exhibition. It was one of those nights where you
got the sense it really didn't matter who the side was,
there was nothing they were going to be able to
do about it. The Raiders made mistakes, they dropped balls,
they fell over. Could you blame the weather or the pressure?
I say pressure. It is proof positive that no matter
how good you are or who you are, going in
sport at the highest level is really all about psychology,

(07:59):
and once one side displays dominance, you crack. The Raiders cracked.
They look rattled. At times, they looked amateurish. Once again,
we have to say what we said last week. League
seasons a long season, and two in a row is
not the top four, but it is literally as good
as you can be at this early stage. Not only
have you won, but you've won spectacularly and you've beaten

(08:19):
two very good sites. The crowds have come and got
their money's worth. Of course, we have talent coming back
to bolster, supplies and execution. It really is all to
play for because surely if you can take a learning
or two out of these two weeks, it's that you
know what you can do, you know what you are
capable of. You have shown how good you can be,
and if you can't run with that, there's no helping you.

(08:40):
And it is more than fair to at the very
least I would have thought think that this looks dangerously
like this is our year.

Speaker 4 (08:49):
Yeah, so when we check, theyar it's off Friday morning.
It was fairly even that Warriors Raiders game. I think
the Warriors were the slight favorites at that point. They
certainly weren't the favorites that they turned out to be
this Warrior's team, you know, because historically the Warriors lose
the games they're supposed to win, often throw away big

(09:12):
leads in the second half and does a point just
when you think they're going to come. Who are these Warriors?
And what have you done with the real Warriors? The
re wrap a great weekend for Liam Lawson. He's actually
on the same points now as next to the staff
and his teammate while sort of half team rate, and

(09:34):
they're both ahead of the other two Red Bull slash
Racing ball drivers, but would you know it? Does anybody
talk about it? Or did anybody even see him race
over the weekend. He got points from both races.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
Like very good drive from Liam, best of the Red
Bull teams. The skysport coverage very poor in my view,
did not show top ten cars crossing the finish, did
not show any graphs listing final positions. Well that's not true.
They do do that. Watch their post race show with
the hope of seeing Liam interviewed, went one through six,
jump seven and went to the next UK driver. They
are a bit piecemeal in that coverage if you watch

(10:08):
a of it. There's a show after the race that
generally covers off the top ten drivers generally, But I
tend to agree with you. There was a fascinating stat.
A guy I follow did a stat and the least
talked about IF one driver last season, as in references
by Skysport UK, was Liam. No one was mentioned less

(10:29):
in IF one than Liam. But when you're getting two
sevens in a weekend, you deserve better treatment, So I'm
on your side on that one.

Speaker 4 (10:36):
How was it in this day and age that we
don't have the ability to just follow a particular driver
because they've obviously got cameras in the cars, looking at
the cars, all the cars, all the time. You know,
the way that they show you a replay of any
minor little thing that happens exectively.

Speaker 3 (10:51):
And Lawson's involved obviously, But why doesn't.

Speaker 4 (10:55):
Sky Heaven you know on demand Liam Lawson watch Liam
Lawson Race Channel. I mean, when the Winter Olympics was on,
we could you could have people going upside down and
round and round on one ski backwards on one channel,
or you could swap over to a replay of the
curling on another channel and then swap over on another

(11:17):
channel to see somebody skiing and then stopping their heartbeat
so they can shoot something. How is it that we
could do that and we don't have a Liam Lawson
Iron the Sky or something.

Speaker 3 (11:31):
I don't know. I'm just asking tell me why.

Speaker 4 (11:35):
I then had exasperated part time, very casual, first one watcher.
I'll probably watch it more if I could just watch Liam.
I'll see you back here again tomorrow. Thank you for
watching me with your ears.
