Speaker 1 (00:09):
You're listening to a podcast from News Talk sed B.
Follow this and our wide range of podcasts now on
iHeartRadio The Rewrap.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
Okay, then welcome to the Rewrap for Friday, all the
best bits from the mic asking breakfast on news Talks.
He'd be in a sillier package. I am Glen Hart
and today solar power?

Speaker 3 (00:34):
Is it all that?

Speaker 2 (00:35):
Where is the beef going? Will mark the week? Oh man,
it's Friday, and that's what we do on Fridays, and
we'll find out where's the best place to go. But
before any of that, it all all makes sense when
we get to it. Don't worry about it, and it'll
be worth sticking around for those bits, trust me. But
before any of that, are they just going to sell

(00:58):
off all our cool land? And by cool land, I
mean all the bits that we never go to because
it's so far away.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
Been a bad week for maturity, as far as I
can work out, Trump suggesting Maloney big for a photo op.
Unity is all that's petty empathetic about a bloke who's
got bigger fish to fry. Sime and Brown treating his
business partners with verbal contempt by calling them children. I
mean not the crime of the century, but not good
conduct from people running countries. But it all pales against
the astonishing nonsense pedaled mainly on social media by those

(01:25):
opposed to the so called conservation change. Now this is
not about whether those changes are half decent or not.
I mean, personally, having read it all, it's hardly the
end of the world, and a lot of it may
well lead to better, smarter outcomes for the estate. But
I came to that conclusion by actually informing myself, which
will be a great upset to the peddlers of the lies,
because it became clear fairly quickly they were not interested
in the truth. More, the alarmism that a misleading headline

(01:46):
can produce Social media gets blamed for a lot, and
it is true that there are tsunamis of nonsense on it,
but it is at all time and has always been
the case, that it remains our responsibility to sift through
and work out what's real and what isn't. But sadly
that's theory, not reality, and that is why the conservation
scrape got so out of control, because people too often

(02:07):
on their feet see a headline, swallowed hook line and
tramping path. There'll always be especially around contentious issues. A
bit of fizz, bit of hyperbole, little colorful theorizing. But
this week has been a joke between the greens and
forest and bird and there are other worm loving mates,
the corimandels for sale. Apparently billionaires are buying up Mount
cock and you'll be charged to enter the South Island.
All I ask is we try harder, defend your corner,

(02:30):
argue your case, point out the pitfalls, problems and failings,
but don't make it up. Don't put it out there
in a way you know we'll be misrepresented and run
with those behind this week's campaign of bollocks. No, people
are busy and they know they have limited time to
consume detail, so they prey on that for political advantage.
It's our responsibility, yes, to be properly informed, that it

(02:50):
is those who run the place's job to do it
on a level playing field. Hysteria and lies and deliberate
manipulation should be crimes, but given they're not, all we
can hope for is a better version of adults.

Speaker 2 (03:03):
Quite like the idea of somebody buying an entire volcano
or a mountain. I mean it does sort of smell
a bit like that you know, by selling the Brooklyn
Bridge to somebody, doesn't it that's sort of a con
But but yeah, I'm just thinking about who would be
interested in buying a volcano. Probably an evil mastermind, an

(03:25):
evil genius that did that'd.

Speaker 3 (03:28):
Be the one I reckon the rewrap.

Speaker 2 (03:30):
Right, So National is going to help you put solar
power on your house? Is that good? It's is that
worth it?

Speaker 3 (03:40):
Always interested in trigger points, opportunities, party tops a trigger
point at the moment people really exercised about it. It's
always fascinating to watch how we exercise. People get the
other thing, solar power. All the text on getting from
people got Mike. Don't get sucked in by solar companies.
I got solar twenty grand. There's only one company in
my area that buys the extra power at twelve cents
a unit. Blah blah blah. I don't think we get
solar power anymore to sell it back, do we? I mean,

(04:01):
that game's up. But here's my advice to you. Don't
get energized about stuff like this. If you don't like
solar or you don't want to do solo, don't. No
one's no one's forcing you into it. It's not like
it's no one's got a gun to your head.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
What Hell? Yeah, EV's the same. Isn't it Like people
with them are convinced that everybody else has got to
have them. That's that's certainly true. Still. Yeah, personally, I
feel like it's the kind of thing you do when

(04:37):
you're building a house, not so much when you've already
got a house. But certainly this winter is turning out
to be pretty expensive. The heat pumps cranking along, it's
been cold. I reckon right, the price of beef these days,
I tell you it's good news for us, apparently rab Bank.

Speaker 3 (04:57):
On related matters. Ongoing tightening of the global supply of
what beef?

Speaker 1 (05:01):
Now?

Speaker 3 (05:02):
Is that good? Yes? It is what happens when supply
is tight, prices are up. Can we supply beef? Yes
we can three to four percent. They think full of
your production locally, but globally, apart from Australia, supply is
going to remain tight. And the Americans obsessed with the Bourgers,
so therefore they will pay anything, and we are happy
to oblige.

Speaker 2 (05:20):
Oh yeah, don't talk to me about screwworm. I know
all about that because I've been watching Dutton Ranch, which
is the sequel to Yellowstone. Of course, I've just watched
a very triggering episode where the whole herd came down
with foot and mouth. So they won't be contributing any

(05:42):
beef to the market with Dutton Ranch, that's for sure.
It's very It really made me feel for the microplasma
bogus people and that will happened? Remember that? Or have
we've forgotten all about that, similar to the way we've
forgotten all about COVID. We don't like to think about it.
The rewrappy and let's cheer up. Let's mark the week.

Speaker 3 (06:02):
Time now to mark the week, I think so little
piece of using current events that the government is now
offering discount loans on so you can buy more than
one brain gain eight yip uplifting story of the week,
The Return of New Zealander is from Australia. Australians from
Australia lobbing here, the tigers turning, the motor shift of
the numbers don't lie in the Great New Zealand os

(06:22):
off New Zealand as back baby are the Straight seven.

Speaker 1 (06:26):
Australia will officially open as soon as we say in
which could be soon very soon.

Speaker 3 (06:31):
Yeah, the war was a cock up and nine eight over,
but check the price of oil and the number of
barrels on the move, and things are coming right and fast.
Conservation land to so depressing, the lies, the bs, the spin,
the bollocks, the lack of maturity. It's been a shocking
misguided and deliberately so debate more adults. Please please grand
theft Auto six four because producer Sam says that's too

(06:54):
much to pay for a game. So I told producer
Sam to grow up and stop gaming anyway. Toy Story five, eight.

Speaker 2 (07:00):
Two, Infinity and beyond.

Speaker 3 (07:03):
Proving sequels can improve record box office all this week.
The Greens in their.

Speaker 2 (07:06):
Maths one, this is I think just human era.

Speaker 3 (07:11):
Being useless at numbers should disqualify you automatically from running
anything bricks at ten June twenty twenty three. You remember
that June twenty three, twenty sixteen, ten years old. This week,
I remember we booked a ticket Friday night, left on Saturday,
arrived on Sunday, broadcast for the week. They couldn't believe
what they'd done. Are the Hurricanes eight an excellent example
of sports at its finist Muana PACIFICA two The opposite

(07:37):
of that. Lionel Messi eight second goal, eight second goal
against Austria. It is poetry and a man displaying mesmerizing
skill at will. It's a joy. Kiyostarmer four Kstarma is
eight mediocrity in a suit. They said he didn't have

(07:58):
a plan toast in two years. British politics is amazing,
isn't it. Carl Stefanovic four way he will in time
regret the way he's made this happen. Nothing wrong with
me moving on if you want to. It's how you
do it that marks you out. Our mood too, reflected
in job confidence figures this week. Regality in mood, don't
tie up. Some of our funk is on us. We

(08:18):
need badly to amend our attitude. Change is the new normal.
Uncertainty is the new normal. If you don't adjust, the
new normal is going to flatten you. Then you're really
going to have something to moan about. Top six not
the yet, but close poles can lead to better poles
and it might just be there on the cusp. By
the way. It adds a bit of fizz, and that's
the weak copies on the website. And if you take
about thirty eight of these and paint them blue. They

(08:40):
make an awesome pool lining.

Speaker 2 (08:41):
I can't get enough of the reflecting pool. I want
that to keep being a thing. I want trying to
keep trying to fix it, and for it to keep
not working in more spectacular ways, and for them to
try and fix it by doing things like hydrochloric hydrogen peroxide.
It'll be hydrochloric acid next, or sulfuric acids. And then

(09:02):
I wonder why it's burning through the earth and all
the waters disappeared again.

Speaker 1 (09:07):
The re wrap.

Speaker 2 (09:08):
We're going to finish up here, handing out some prizes
for places that are called to go to look. I
know that it still doesn't make sense, but well, in
a minute, HOSPO.

Speaker 3 (09:18):
Very good news from Craigi Range. I love Craigi Range.
Boss got married at Craigie Range. Went to the wedding
at Craigi Range. Actually, speaking of which I must say,
I don't am I allow'd to say Kylie or not?
Really is there's that a thing? So Kylie, who does
the ad libs on the show Excuse Me, is getting
married today, and so meteorologically speaking, she's not picked the

(09:40):
best day to get married. But that's beyond our control.
There's nothing we can do about that. It's going to
be a very fine weekend. I mentioned that. I said, look,
do you realize the weekend is going to be fine?
It's just anyway. So she's off to get married today,
so we wish it all the very best. I just
hope the ad Lib situation's good for the next couple
of days, because I'm assuming she's taken some days off. Anyway,
where was I Craigie Range Supreme Award Best Destination Venue

(10:01):
at This is the Lion Hospitality New Zealand Business Awards
for Excellence. So the Supreme winner is Craigie Range. I
love Craigi Range. I love the fear. I love the
quarry le soul. I would like if I like that
sort of wine. But that's not to say the sool
is not brilliant. What was it that you bought the
very large bottles of the imperials.

Speaker 2 (10:21):
When everybody was looking for you, and then you would
you would boughts of the and you were tasting them,
and then you came out with several very large.

Speaker 3 (10:31):
Do you know Imperials are nine bottles and so I
bought a nine bottle bottle of some.

Speaker 2 (10:36):
Sophia which had a good night that night.

Speaker 3 (10:38):
I still had a great night. I still have those bottles.
By the way, best boutique or luxury accommodation Craigie Range,
Best destination venue, Craggy Range. I mean, come on, this
is getting boring. Tarler and Auckland. Which is which is
a thing? Is that Michael Meredith's place. Come on, Sam,
you're into food, you should know that. I think it's

(10:59):
Michael Meredith's place. Michael Mereti is another favorite of mine.
I love Michael Meredith. Yeah, it's his. His hotel britam
Art is one of the best hotel in the country.
That's good, Spring and Fern, bre and Poor. Well done.
I'm in Wellington next weekend. By the way, whether you
put on a half days, I'm certainly not coming to
Wellington in one hundred and fifty k wins. You get
your act together. Spring and Fern and Berre and Poor.

(11:21):
I told my daughter, I said, book the best place
in town. It's the best place in town to book
in Wellington. Is it the Spring and Thorne or Feron
in bren Paor. I don't think it is, but anyway,
it's the best local entertainment venue, Tarhi Bar, Walkworth, the
Tier Bar and Kitchen of Walkworth, well done. Odds Saint
is the best cafe in Queenstown, the best motels, the
Beley Quarter in Christy. He doesn't love the Beeley Quarter.

Speaker 2 (11:40):
Yeah, so just to clarify that, Craigie Range, that's the
only party I've ever seen the Hosks stay at for
more than five minutes. And he stayed until the end.
Where I say he stayed at he literally went down
to the cellar underneath the party and then everybody wanted
where he was and he was down there drinking wine
and then sort of came back later. So that was

(12:02):
a good effort from him. The Spriggan feron this confused me.
I've been to the Sprigan Fern and Wellington, but the
one in Tower and yes, I found the service to
be excellent, but it's just a pub. It's a fine pub,
but just so. But this wasn't that one. There's another
one down there. There's probably more than one. I know
they've got quite a doing these Sprigan Ferns at the

(12:24):
top of the South Island as well. But yeah, I'm
not saying anything against the Sprigan food don't get me wrong.
I mean the I think they had a good stout,
a good stout. Actually, I'm the good service and the
good I'm starting to come around on that. Sprigan Fern
and talbot Man the other one must be good. I
ugly at hat. This has been a random old podcast
just for a change. I'll see you back here again

(12:48):
with more randomnity on Monday. Is that a thing randomity? No?
Probably not.
