Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Coast Breakfast Bonus Podcast with Tony Jason Sam.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
Hi, thanks for listening to our Breakfast Bonus podcast.

Speaker 3 (00:07):
Today.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
We're talking about guy mates, not primates, but guy mates.
Boy friends is how they've termed it, because they've done
a study on this and they've found that guys on
general have about five friends, five general friends.

Speaker 4 (00:18):
That's quite good because I think you have lots of acquaintances, right,
and what constitutes a friend.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
Well, funny you break it down on there, because it's
of those five, three are close friends, two are best friends.
So that's just five friends. That's I guess the colleagues associates,
that's their friends, that's their friends circle five.

Speaker 4 (00:35):
I feel like I'm in a really confused space with
friendships these days.

Speaker 5 (00:38):
Because you're good at friendship.

Speaker 3 (00:39):
Can I just talk you through it though?

Speaker 4 (00:40):
Because I have like my school friends who I'm still
friends with but don't see heaps because most of them
still live in New Plymouth. Then I've got my mum
school friends, right, and those are also dad school friends
as well.

Speaker 6 (00:53):
Can I just say that your ability to convert them
into genuine friends though?

Speaker 5 (00:57):
You know what I mean?

Speaker 6 (00:57):
You know what I've got is a whole lot of
acquaintances around them that will live around us everything. But
you you, all of a sudden they are your besties.
You're doing things with them dinners.

Speaker 4 (01:07):
And are generally better at that at the conversion. You
guys should start doing that too. If there's someone that
you actually really enjoy hanging out with, then you actually
my mom told me us when I was young, Tony,
if you want to be a friend, to get a friend,
you have to be a friend, and you actually have
to put in some effort. So you need to actually,
like when was the last time you actually said to someone,

(01:27):
shall we grab a coffee? Shall we have a wife?
Or drop them a birthday gift or just something.

Speaker 6 (01:32):
Let me just tell you that on the fourteenth of December,
all the dad's in our street.

Speaker 5 (01:37):
We're going to try and we're going to convert our friendship.

Speaker 3 (01:39):
Did you do you initiate this? No, you're not being
the friend.

Speaker 5 (01:44):
Gus, he's very social free.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
Neighborhood needs a Gust.

Speaker 5 (01:48):
Everyone needs a Guss.

Speaker 6 (01:50):
But Gus gets loose. You got to watch Gus.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
That's why Gus. Gus wants to catch up the dead.

Speaker 3 (01:55):
Gus doesn't want to be best friends. He just wants
to get on it with all the dead.

Speaker 2 (01:59):
So that was full of two thousand guys, and thirty
five percent of them also have a friend crush. So
that's a dude. They want to be friends.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
That's a good call and be more than friends.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
No, no, just like a friend crush crush, just a
friend crush.

Speaker 6 (02:11):
I've got a friend crush.

Speaker 5 (02:15):
Been from pick up being there? No, no, no, yeah,
it's a been Morow. I don't know was the last name?

Speaker 6 (02:21):
The tich guy there's been being Morrow is my he
I want to be beer.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
Are you jealous of me?

Speaker 4 (02:26):
Then? Because I'm better friends with Ben than you, I
don't think you are. I definitely am. Have you haad
coffee to discuss work opportunities?

Speaker 3 (02:32):
Have you?

Speaker 4 (02:32):
Yep?

Speaker 3 (02:33):
No, my husband has babe, you know.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
So Matt and being the mates, right, that's kind of
want to be from friends in that group.

Speaker 4 (02:40):
Though, like normal, you'll let you on and you'll probably
end up being better friends with them.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
So thirty percent of guys we can the good we're
calling the mates bro brother or brother. I do that.
I call people brother.

Speaker 3 (02:52):
I don't think the friends are okay with it.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
Though probably not. Only six percent of guys have a bestie.
Only six percent of guys have a beast for.

Speaker 4 (03:00):
I have issues with besties too, like so do I.
And I tell this to my children. I'm like, don't
go around saying she's my best friend, because then you're just.

Speaker 5 (03:09):
Others isolating people.

Speaker 3 (03:10):
Yes, you don't need to, but girls are tear of.

Speaker 6 (03:12):
My friend is Adrian, Like you know, it's just cut
and dry.

Speaker 5 (03:17):
James is up there too. I met Adrian first, you
know what I mean.

Speaker 6 (03:21):
I met James after the fact and we lived together
for it's like that core blood brother stuff.

Speaker 4 (03:26):
I think I'd prefer to say, just like Sophie and
I think of anyone's got claims on a best friend,
that's me when she literally held my child in her
belly and she's my longest friend. But I don't want
to go shouting she's my best friend so that all
my other friends feel like they're not as tight to
me because it's not necessarily true.

Speaker 3 (03:44):
We've got the longest history.

Speaker 5 (03:46):
What are you going to do to be to friend?
Keen to keep her here?

Speaker 1 (04:00):
