Speaker 1 (00:06):
You're listening to the Weekend Sport podcast with Jason Vine
from Newstalks ed B the Warriors.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
There's second on the NRROL Ladder beating the Gold Coast
Titans twenty eight twenty at go Media. Last night, the
Warriors scored five tries, including a couple for winger Alafiana
Cahn Pereira against his former side.

Speaker 3 (00:26):
Four meters away the Warriors. HeiG pot Patano stuff again
from Boyd. They've got a Scott has shy toy Nasa
Shita Boyd having a run.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
They've got the pass on touch hat against Terre Yes.

Speaker 3 (00:46):
Happy is it everyone know that that's a second against
his old firm. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
Alafiana can Pereira is with a congrats mate on the
two tries against your former side and your part in
this one. And how happy were the players afterwards? End
the coaches with the performance last night against the Titans.

Speaker 4 (01:05):
You know, it was a great start from us, very
very proud of the boys and you know we really
wanted to focus focus on our energy this week and
some of the execution we we definitely executed and no,
I think we were still a bit disappointed at the
back end in the last twenty. But I think it
was a good, great learning curve for us.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
So yeah, it was great.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
Yeah, first half was terrific. Couple of tries for you. You
had the last three seasons at the Titans. How were
the emotions playing against them and playing so well against them?

Speaker 3 (01:39):
Yeah, No, it was awesome. Man.

Speaker 4 (01:40):
It's always good to get a win against the old club.
Just had a great chat with you know, Webby and
a couple other boys, Fish, Aaron and Tanner. You know,
we had we got a little meeting before the game,
and no, it was awesome. They just told me, you know,
you got to keep your head in and you know,
do what's best for the team. And you know that
helped me. Helped me a lot to get into the

(02:02):
game and not overplay my game. And you know it
was a bit emotional start, but yeah, no, I just
really wanted to earn the respect of the boys and
do the best I can as a as a as
the winger.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
What's it like playing outside Roger too vasa check.

Speaker 3 (02:21):
Man.

Speaker 4 (02:22):
Yeah, I to everyone, you know, I still got to
pinch myself and you know, keep my head on. It's
it's it's it's awesome, man, Like just having Roger and
in the inside, you know, he's a massive energy for
the team, and you know you just feed off that,
and he's just so much, so much, so much. Sorry,

(02:44):
it's just so much influence in the game. And man,
it's Rogie two of us as check. Bro He's you know,
he's self explansory Bro's he's the man.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
You found exactly the right word, man, influence. That's exactly
what he does. He seems to influence every single game
he plays. And you'd scored fifty three tries and fifty
four games for the Titans. How special they to score
your first couple for the Warriors.

Speaker 4 (03:07):
Yeah, no, it's awesome, man, Like I said, I just
can't believe it. It's still pretty surreal, to be honest.
But yeah, like like I said, I'd like to focus
on the last twenty of the of the game and
what I really want to fix on some of the
things that will me personally what I can do better,
And like scoring tries is awesome, but man, for me,

(03:31):
I just really want to work on my percent one percent.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
Yeah, and I heard you talk about that on the
on the post game last night with the Sky team,
talk about those one percenters and and Is that more
your defensive stuff? Is that the kind of thing you're
talking about there?

Speaker 4 (03:45):
Yeah, of course, the defense and just like what I
can do off the board and where I can you know,
place myself with on the field and you know, just
be a nuisance where I can. But yeah, one like
only my catches, you know, working hard for the team
and just doing stuff where not many people can see

(04:08):
those those little things in the field. But yeah, for
sure defense is one of those things that I really
wanted to work on soon.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
Yeah, can you take respect to how the move to
the Warriors came about? How did that all happen?

Speaker 1 (04:22):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (04:23):
Mate, it's honestly like just a breath of fresh air.
You know. I just wanted to start something new, and
you know, Webbe came to me and he made the
move only easier for me. So he put a lot
of effort and trust trust into me, and man like,
I just really want to repay that for him, and

(04:45):
not just for him, but for the boys and the
club as a whole, and and do the best I
can for the team.

Speaker 3 (04:51):
So yeah, there.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
Must be a little bit daunting in some ways coming
into a new environment. But how much did it help
having your former teammates Aaron Clark and a Tanner Boyd
already here.

Speaker 3 (05:03):
Yeah, no, that helped massively to that.

Speaker 4 (05:05):
Like I said that, the boys there made them move
only easier as well. So just having those boys and
seeing them grow as a player and change change from
what I was used to knowing them before. And man,
they're just such incredible players and people and men.

Speaker 3 (05:27):
Like just to experience that win last night with them
as well was just just amazing. Man. I'm just so
proud of them.

Speaker 2 (05:33):
And of course, I mean joining the club is one thing.
Getting game times another. You've had to be a wee
bit patient. How have you managed that, you know, just
waiting for your opportunity to arrive? How how challenging, if
at all, has it been being a bit patient?

Speaker 3 (05:47):
Yeah, it was a bit challenging.

Speaker 4 (05:49):
You know, it's probably a blessing in disguise, Jase, just
trying to you know, still learn the system and you know,
nailed down and get my movements right and you know
what I mean, Like I don't didn't want to run
anything or you know, try to squeeze into the team
as fast as possible. But man, I think it's definitely

(06:13):
all paid off, you know, I can definitely see myself
progressing in the area as well, one of the progressing
And no, honestly, it's just it's just been great, great
timing for me, to be honest.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
Yeah, I just do want to take you back to
your second try and the dive we've seen you made
on the other wing Dell and y Teni's least I
get airborne many times I think he does. I think
sometimes it doesn't when he doesn't have to. Yours was
just as impressive, though. Do you specifically work on that
sort of finishing during the week knowing that you know
it's likely to come up in a game situation?

Speaker 4 (06:49):
Yeah, well this week, you know, ever since I joined
the Warriors, it's it's one of the drills that the
wingers do, and you know, it's a big focus here
and you know seeing Dow that's one of the best,
and even Roger that's that's up there as well. And man,
they're just like doing some crazy airtimes in the air

(07:10):
in the corners and there's something that we practice within
the week and something we practiced just before the game
and our captain's run, so man like it just came
to second nature when when you practice it that much
and you know it inspires me to do so and no,
just the talent and the boys doing it before the

(07:32):
game just makes me, I don't know, just just very
excited to work on it because it's not something that
that's easy to do or something that you should be
practicing a lot to Scotch tries, but man, for for
it to come out and into the game is just
something special.

Speaker 2 (07:50):
Just to finish. What's it like down on the grass
at go Media Stadium after a Warrior's win. What was
that like last night? After the whistle?

Speaker 4 (08:00):
Oh, it's awesome, just the crowd and just the boys,
you know, and for me especially to get get one
up on the old team is it just truly meant
a lot to me last night. Man, everything just went
so quick, snap of a finger, and you know I
was at home, but I wish at time just slowed
down and you know, I got to enjoy it just

(08:23):
a bit more. And you know, I really wanted to
focus on, you know, our last twenty and you know
a bit disappointed about it, but you know it's only
only going to make us better.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
Yeah, Well, it's got to give you something to work
on during the week, I guess you've got to enjoy
this one man. Congratulations on your part and the Warriors
win last night and your two tries. It's been a
great pleasure chatting to him, made all the best for
the week. You hittership prepared to come to Wellington to
take on the Dolphins.

Speaker 3 (08:45):
Oh honestly, thank you Mit No, no, thank.

Speaker 2 (08:48):
You Afian cant Perera. There score of two tries last
night is first two interesting listening to Andrew Webster last
night when he was asked about about playing a Loffiando
can Perera, not so much playing him but playing him
against this former club and and and whether there was
a temptation to either play a player against their former

(09:08):
club or not play a player against their former club
because you're never really sure what they are going to
do in terms of motivation, and Sir Andrew Webster said
last night, the players who play against their former team
can often get it wrong. Yes, they're very motivated and
want to win, but they can often get it wrong.
They can overthink it and not do their job. So

(09:30):
they focused on that with him this week and the
results were there.

Kingdom of Fraud

Kingdom of Fraud

It’s the unlikeliest of criminal partnerships: a devout polygamist from an insular Utah sect joining forces with a shadowy Armenian tycoon from LA. The result - a billion dollar fraud conspiracy. In Kingdom of Fraud, investigative reporter Michele McPhee traces the origins of the extraordinary alliance between Jacob Kingston and Levon Termendzhyan. Together, the two men trigger the largest tax investigation in American history and weave around themselves a web of dirty cops, influential political relationships and transnational money laundering. All this is set against the backdrop of Jacob Kingston’s clan – The Order. A powerful and secretive polygamist organization in Salt Lake City. To whom Jacob is desperate to prove his worth.
