The Warriors have continued their strong season with a 32-6 win over the Wests Tigers.
Their return to winning form cements their second-place spot on the NRL ladder, though there were a few performance issues, the Warriors making over a dozen errors throughout the game.
Host of the The Big League Podcast, Nathan Limm joined Piney to offer his thoughts on the match.
He highlighted the performance of Te Maire Martin, saying that he continues to step up to the plate and perform every time, and as long as continues to stay fit, Limm has no doubt he’ll be in the halfback jersey.

pretty professional performance from the Warriors last night. Was it
a pretty complete display the way you saw it?

Pleasure to be on with you, mate, Yeah, no, Look,
it won't be you as a complete performance by Andrew
Webster and by the team. I think the Warriors showed
a hell of a lot of promise, to be honest.
I mean the six tries they ran in they had
eleven line breaks in comparison to the Tigers won and
they'll be really really pleased with the defense just holding
(01:23):
the Tigers to that one try and the one line
break which came right at the end of the game.
But the Warriors did make a lot of errors. They
considered more six agains than the Tigers did. They were
a little bit ill disciplined, so it's something that they'll
definitely want to tidy up. But I will point out
that they've still got Mitch Barnett and Kirk Caple to
come back from Origin duty, and I think having those

leaders spread out throughout the part will definitely make a difference.
The Warriors looked one hundred percent better when James Busher
Harris was on the part, just.

On the return of those two, but also the fact
that there are a number of players still not available
for this team through injury. Are you sensing a greater
depth in the side, a more effective of next man
up kind of philosophy within the Warriors.
Speaker 3 (02:10):
Well, they always talk about that one next man up
philosophy of Pioney, But I think in the last few
years the story has been that the Warriors look really
good and when their at full fitness can beat anyone
and could challenge for a premiership. And then we get
to about this time in the year and the half
BacT stuff as a major injury. They have a few
people go down and then they start to come off
(02:32):
on the wrong side of close results, and they lost
three out of four of their last games, all by
two points, and I was starting to think, oh no,
here we go again. Maybe this is the slide. But
I think those younger players that we're talking about the
likes of Jacob Laban, dmeetri By among that they've had
a couple of years now in this team and they
are really starting to stand up. I think Jacob Laban
(02:54):
had a just afterly outstanding year. And when you've got
those that cop word of younger players who are all
performing at first grade level consistently and putting in really
really strong performances. When you do have those players go
down like Canna Boyd, you know, like James Fresher Harris
when he spent time out, you have those players that
can stand up and make performances. Tannastow Smith has been outstanding.
(03:15):
He's just twenty two years old and has been just
brilliant this year. Battering ram for the Warriors. So I
think the depth that they have, it's not necessarily that
they've got more players. It's the players they did have
have grown over the last couple of years, and they're
really standing up now.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
You talked about how they'll they'll look back at their
their ball and hand effort and say we could have
done better in certain areas. But the fact remains defensively,
they only let in six points. Surely that'll be a
pretty pleasing aspect of this performance for Andrew Webster and
his coaches, will it.
Speaker 3 (03:48):
I have no doubt that that'll be the thing that
they are most pleased with. One hundred percent. Finny and
I spoke to a Lofiana carm Perreira after the game
late last night. He's our guests for the Big League
podcast on Monday, and you know, he talked about the
attacking opportunities that they created and didn't canceidalize, you know,
eleven line breaks, but they were only outfight eight points
for a lot of that game, so they weren't capitalizing
(04:09):
on the opportunities that they were creating. And the Lofiana
talked about how they got a little bit excited. I
think when you're coming off three out of four of
your last games with defeats, and then you're coming off
a buy as well. Maybe there's a little bit of
white line fever, a little bit of maybe trying slightly
too hard. But when you get into a rhythm of
winning multiple weeks in a row, you trust your processes
(04:30):
a lot more, and you look for the past and
you just trust that you go through your processes, you
will get the win. And I think potentially they got
a little bit excited. I think a Lofiana said there
was almost too much open space, and so they made
a couple of four decisions. But it's nothing that I
don't think any of them will get too stressed about.

He's an interesting proposition, isn't he. I look forward to
listening to him on the Big League Podcast because at
the start of the season he probably thought, Okay, where
am I going to fit in here? Dellan hy Tennis
Alesniak on one wing and Roger Tui Vasaschek on the other.
There's no room for another hyphenated surname in all of this,
you know, So where was I going to fit in?
But what eleven tries? Now? In nine Stars, He's making

every postal winner isn't he.

And I think what the Warriors lacked on the edges
over the last couple of years was paced and that's
what carm Perrera is bringing. And he's just got such
an eye for the tryline. He's finishing his superb and
you know what, he's going to have to keep it
up because next year looking forward, I mean, they've just
resigned Dallan for another two years and they've got Will
Warburck coming from the Storm. So carm Perrera has had

this outstanding season with the Warriors once he got his opportunity,
but he's going to have to really keep it up
because pressure is going to be on to secure that
our starting years into the future. But I think right now,
focusing on where the teams that he is absolutely crucial
to the Warrior's attack and just in that finishing role
and taking advantage of face when it opens up.

Are we going to see Luke Metcalf play first grade
again for the Warriors or not?
Speaker 3 (05:58):
I think we will, and I think we will because
the Warriors haves.

Have this terrible history with injury.

There still a number of weeks ago in the regular season.
I think it's more likely than not. At some point,
Janelle Harris Savida or Tomid and Martin they're going to
cop a bit of contact, they're going to have a
bit of a niggle and they're going to have to
sit a week or two or even more out. So
I would be really surprised that we didn't see Luke
mccart's play for the Warriors games.

It won't be next week well, and we can call
it the Luke Metcalf Derby. They've got the Dragons next Avenue,
which is where he's off to. Surely, surely that won't
be when he plays.

Finally, I think the way you know, Chanelle Harris Savita
had a bit of a quieter night last night, but
he and Timido Martin had been really really strong for
the Warriors with Tanna Boyd going down after the way
he was playing. I have so much respect with Tomid
and Martin who just steps up to the plate and
perform every time. He did this last year, he did

this twenty twenty four when Shawn Johnson went down. Every
time he played it doesn't matter where he played, shoot
up and he did a role, so as long as
he was he is fit, he will be in the
half back jumper.

All Right, eleven wins for the season now, the Warriors
strengthening their position near the top of the ladder. I
know there's a long way to go, but what are
the belief levels? What are you sensing within the Warriors
fan base and those who watch this team closely. Where
are the belief levels about what this team is capable of.

I think what's encouraging, Pony is that there isn't a
sense of being slightly delirious about the fact that the
Warriors are up the top of the ladder.
Speaker 4 (07:38):
You know, and years gone by and the Warriors.
Speaker 3 (07:40):
Be up to the pointy end, or they'd have a
good run of wind to start. The fan base is
just about to explode, and you can see weighing on
the players a little bit, especially when you talk to them.
The whole sort of adage of Warriors move when they're
expected to win, and they win when they're expected to loose.
I'm not getting that from the group this year, and
the fan base as well. Everyone seems to just be
a little bit more calm because now we're used to
(08:02):
the Warriors being up in the top eight. I'm competing
for a top four spot, and we've obviously seen over
the last couple of years they can be up there
and then with injuries can all derail very very quickly
as well when.

We get to the playoffs.

So I think the confidence is rounded in the fact
that Everry's hut is calm and the team now actually
used to being in this sort of position and with
this sort of expectation.

Just to finish. Then, I mean, the Panthers a top
It seems like a silly question, but they are still
the most likely premiership candidates, aren't they Below that? I mean,
it's pretty tightly bunched. Pack Roosters twenty six points, Nights
twenty six, Dolphins twenty four, Sharks twenty four, Set You
Goals twenty two, Ravenus twenty two, Bulldogs twenty This feels
pretty competitive. But are we all chasing Penrith?

Yeah, one hundred without a doubt, Bindy Yeah, And not
just because of the players and the caliber that Henrith
habit their disposal, but just the fact that they know
how to win premiership.

They do have have been there and done it over
and over and over. Again, so when they know that
when they get down to the pointy end of the season,
they can convert. The Warriors don't have that same level
of confidence when it comes to the playoffs, just because
of the last few years. But we often see another
sports that takes the New Zealand teams one or two
tries is getting to the final, getting to the semis

before they can actually get over the line. I think
when you talk about the table and how it's ingested,
it is one thing that's really in favor of the
Warrior's points difference, because if we do have a scenario
where three or fourteens are tied on the same amount
of points, the Warriors are up one hundred and ninety
four points in the positive. The Roosters right behind them,
they are only sixty. The Warriors when they've won games,

they've won by a lot and actually that is going
to really pay dividend at the end of the season
when they're competing for the spot if it is that
tied at the top of the table.

So next week, I've just I had this pointed out
to me yesterday and I'm not quite sure how I
missed it, But the Warriors are on in Auckland. Next
Saturday night at the same time the All Blacks play Island.

a couple of couple of screens, mate, because I know
you love them both.
