Speaker 1 (00:03):
Welcome to Before Breakfast, a production of iHeartRadio. Good Morning.
This is Laura. Welcome to the Before Breakfast podcast. Today's
tip is to plan your next vacation. With the winter
holidays behind us, it's a great time to look ahead
(00:24):
and get something special on the calendar. So apparently January
thirtieth as National Plan your Next Vacation Day. I am
not entirely sure who declares these things, and there's no
magic about that date specifically, but there does seem to
be some wisdom in planning vacation Right about now, Thanksgiving, Hanukkah,
(00:47):
and Christmas are over, so the fun and travel you
enjoyed over the holidays are in the rear view mirror.
The new year's excitement has begun to wear off, and
winter can be boring and gloomy. Planning a vacation gives
you something to look forward to. Practically, speaking for people
with school aged kids, it's important to note that spring
(01:09):
break is not too far off, so if you haven't
planned your spring break yet, this could be a great time.
Long time listeners know that I advise planning the year's
travel all at once, so I would suggest planning your
next vacation around now, and also planning the rest of
the travel for the year, at least in broad brushstrokes.
(01:32):
There are a few benefits to planning the year's travel
all at once. In general, I find it easier to
get everyone on board with a package deal. It's a
lot easier to get everyone to be happy about going
skiing over spring break, for instance, if at the same
time you are planning to visit your extended family over
Memorial Day, maybe go to the beach over the summer
(01:53):
and visit London in the fall. Everybody gets something they
are excited about at some point in the year, so
nobody is too grouchy about the destinations that weren't their
top picks. Planning the year all at once helps ensure
you have variety. You can make sure that at some
point you do see family, have time to relax, sight see, hike,
(02:15):
or whatever it is you like to do. Planning the
year's travel all at once also helps with budgeting your
funds and your PTO time. You won't find yourself wanting
to go see your parents and siblings for Christmas and
then realizing you have already burned through all your money
and your day's off, so this week, why not jump
(02:37):
on the national plan your next vacation day bandwagon. Let's
sketch out your next trip and your getaways for the year.
I know I need something to look forward to around now.
If I do some travel planning, I am pretty sure
I will come up with something good in the meantime.
(02:58):
