Speaker 1 (00:08):
Hello, and welcome to Savor production of iHeartRadio. I'm Annie
Reese and I'm.
Speaker 2 (00:12):
Learn Vocal Bam, and today we have an episode for
you about holly jolly holiday marketing.
Speaker 1 (00:18):
Yes, I think it's a tradition. It isn't We do
this every year?
Speaker 2 (00:22):
Yeah, because uh, as it turns out, brands never stop
being really wacky in questionable yet festive ways.
Speaker 1 (00:33):
Indeed, it is the most wonderful time of year for
that for holiday marketing. However, I have to say I
didn't find as many completely whacky ones this year, but
I found a few that balanced it out, Yeah, with
being so wacky. Yeah that I'm like, Okay, You're like, well,
on the whole of it, this is all still pretty weird.
Speaker 2 (00:59):
Yeah. Oh oh my goodness. That is a true statement. Yeah.
None of these are currently our sponsors, although anyone who
we don't defend feel free to reach out.
Speaker 1 (01:11):
Yes, yeah, he I mean here we are. We're clearly
intrigued by some Yeah. Whether that intrigue is more of
the grotesques or legitimately want to try that's that varies.
That varies, That varies, But we're here. We're here yeah always, Yes,
(01:35):
And this one is a bit of a grab bag.
I've got to say, even four are past holiday marketing episodes.
There's just a lot going on, is a lot.
Speaker 2 (01:47):
Yeah yeah, late stage capitalism. I love it.
Speaker 1 (01:52):
All right. So let's start with some of the food
offerings this holiday season has brought. Yeah, one that got
a lot of press was Oreos. We've been talking about
Oreos a lot lately. Yeah, yeah, Well, they released Oreo
Festive Cookies, which are Oreos with layers of red and
(02:16):
green filling, stamped with holiday shapes penguins, snowmen, gingerbread men,
candy canes, and rudeolph complete with the red nose. The
flavor of the filling is still the classic vanilla, so
it is it's both red and green. It's not like
you get one of the other, like when they did
that Star Wars promotion where you were like, right, yeah, yeah,
(02:38):
it's both. It's both at the same time.
Speaker 2 (02:40):
Yeah. And and they're they're cute, you know, they are cute.
The little pictures on top of the cookies are cute,
and you know, they go out of their way to
say like these these are the normal flavor, normal Oreo flavor.
They just look different that it's normal flavored. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:57):
I feel like there was a lot of things I
found like that this year, where it was like, oh,
it's a new shape, but it's still the same flavor,
whereas in previous years we've gotten very wild flavors.
Speaker 2 (03:08):
Yeah, that'll be like turkey stuffing oreos and you're like what,
and they're like you like it? What?
Speaker 1 (03:14):
And then they've pivoted clearly, So maybe their market research
bore something out. Then a Twizzler released a holiday treat
of their own, cherry flavored Christmas trees. I was very
intrigued by this, Okay, just because in my mind I
(03:37):
always think when I think Twizzler, I think the rope candy.
But apparently they've been experimenting a lot with holiday themed
shapes in their Twizzler bites.
Speaker 2 (03:47):
Why okay, So yeah.
Speaker 1 (03:49):
They just look like cute little Christmas trees. But they
did also release a new candy rope flavor, mary Berry
Punch twist.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
Oh I'm sure mary Berry punch. Yeah absolutely, why not?
Why wouldn't you? It rhymes? How can you say no?
Speaker 1 (04:09):
Exactly? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (04:10):
Yeah. To to me, I'm struggling with the idea of
shapes because Twizzler is a shape like like that's it's
the shape of a Twizzler, right, I'll accept other rope
shaped candies or or shortened rope shaped candies, but it's
my brain is obviously inject It's like nope, nope, nope, no,
(04:32):
thank you.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
Mm hmmm. I mean when I saw it, I was like,
I would never think that was a Twizzler. But I
guess Twizzler's got to really grapple with that. They, I mean,
don't sold an image yeah, of what a Twizzler is
and what the shape is. And now they're trying to
do other things and we're like, what.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
Maybe, hey, look if they want to change up their shape,
I support them.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
Apparently they did like ghost shapes that were really popular
at Halloween. Yeah, so yeah, they're trying some things. Cool. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (05:08):
Here, this next one is something that I glossed over
in our recent McCormick episode, but you have gone further
into detail with which which I appreciate because it is
it is objectively funny.
Speaker 1 (05:22):
It is pretty funny. So McCormick released limited edition finishing
sugars for the holidays, and they include flavors like candy cane, gingerbread, spice,
English toffee, white frosting, hot cocoa, and salted caramel. And
I mean, if it isn't clear the reason we do
these episodes, we do kind of love the goofiness, the wackiness.
(05:44):
The press releases they're fun. So an example description from
their site and you can look them all up, but
this is one of my favorites. Quote hot cocoa a
creamy blend of chocolate, vanilla, and coco aromas that e
folk feeling of cozy and chilly evenings by the fire.
Use it to top homemade fudge, bark or chocolate dipped pretzels,
(06:06):
or to add a touch on frosted cakes or whipped
cream topped beverages. You could add hot cocoa finishing sugar too,
You're hot.
Speaker 2 (06:15):
Cocoa, what cocoaception?
Speaker 1 (06:20):
Too much? I just loved this, Like when your bar
the fire here you go.
Speaker 2 (06:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (06:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (06:28):
Also, just the term finishing sugar is real special it is.
That's it's cute.
Speaker 1 (06:35):
It's cute.
Speaker 2 (06:36):
I can't say it's not cute though.
Speaker 1 (06:38):
Like how nice? Yeah I have I have a friend
recently was telling me about how she loves a good
finishing sugar and I was like, either, I've never heard
this before, or it's only because I recently learned about
it that I'm actually.
Speaker 2 (06:51):
Listening attention it is. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, for something
completely differ for the holidays, McDonald's released this limited edition
half gallon jug of McRib sauce. For those who don't know,
(07:12):
the McRib came back to certain McDonald's stores. I think
I think December third, that sounds about right. This jug
dropped on November twenty fifth, for nineteen ninety nine. Its
label was a festive Christmas sweater type print with these
like bands of snowflakes and pine trees and white on burgundy,
(07:35):
you know, like McRib sauce Burgundy. And it had little
floating McRib sandwiches in between the Christmas trees and the snowflakes.
It was available while supplies lasted at Whole Lot of
Ribsauce dot com.
Speaker 1 (07:52):
I'm surprised that was still available. Uh yeah.
Speaker 2 (08:03):
I nothing says the holidays like a half gallon junk.
Speaker 1 (08:07):
Of McRib sauce. I for some people, I'm sure, I
am sure. I okay.
Speaker 2 (08:15):
If anyone listening to this receives or is giving one
of these for the holidays, I need to.
Speaker 1 (08:22):
Know about in a meeting.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
Yeah, this is critical information.
Speaker 1 (08:30):
Very critical.
Speaker 2 (08:31):
Oh we.
Speaker 1 (08:33):
We need to make some grab some charts, gotta do
some studies. Oh we do, we do.
Speaker 2 (08:41):
Okay, this half gallon of McRib sauce pales in comparison
to this next one though.
Speaker 1 (08:49):
Yes, this one I thought was an onion article. At first.
I had to verify the veracity of it. Uh huh,
completely true. I am at a loss for words. But
we must talk about Sam's Club Hola Dogs, Holi Dogs,
(09:13):
Hola Dogs. These are holiday themed hot dogs topped with
ingredients like candy canes, a slice of pumpkin pie, mini slice,
yea mini slice to be fair, candy cookies, and various
Thanksgiving associated foods like mashed potatoes and gravy or turkey.
(09:34):
According to the company's press release, they were intended to
address the question of what to eat between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
The tagline they used was the best of both holidays
in one bun.
Speaker 2 (09:51):
Okay, m h.
Speaker 1 (09:55):
It gets even wilder, Lauren, So I'm ready.
Speaker 2 (10:00):
I'm ready.
Speaker 1 (10:01):
I don't know that you are. So here is a
quote from their website that you can still visit. What
do you eat in between Thanksgiving and Christmas? Exactly. You've
finished off your turkey leftovers and yet haven't even started
pulling out decorations. You're in between the holidays. Everything's confusing
(10:21):
and you don't know what to eat. Oh hello, HOLI dog,
nice to meet you. Half Thanksgiving, half Christmas, all dog.
Speaker 2 (10:34):
Okay, And for anyone who isn't aware, Sam's Club hot
dogs are kind of a thing. They're real and expensive,
they're serviceable hot dogs. You can get one while you're
you know, shopping for gallon tubs of mayonnaise or whatever
you're doing in Sam's Club. And it's a whole thing.
Speaker 1 (10:55):
It is. And I actually really want to come back
and talk about this because I know Costco also has
kind of an important hot dog situation. But yeah, Sam's
Club really went all in. So they have three varieties.
The holiday mashup just mashed potatoes and crumbled Christmas cookies
(11:18):
on top of a hot dog. Frankly both pumpkin pie
and crushed candy canes, seasons and eteeks me e ati
ngs if it wasn't clear, slices of turkey and prime
re roost on top of a hot dog.
Speaker 2 (11:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (11:39):
Yes, So they were only available in three cities and
I believe it was always at a cart kind of situation, okay,
and caused quite the commotion on social media. Understandably, the
company encouraged people outside of those cities to make their
own using Sam's Club ingredients. So again I should have
specified when I said, you can still it up on
(12:00):
the website. I mean, yeah, of course Sam's Club website
still exist, but you can still see the like press
release for all of this, and they do have like
how to make these hot dogs great?
Speaker 2 (12:11):
Because I was about to put candy canes on top
of a hot dog at any second. That was what
was in mice in my cards today.
Speaker 1 (12:22):
Well, interestingly, your sarcasm was noted by Sam's Club because
they seem to be aware that this was a weird
stunt no one asked for. Here's another quote from them.
You asked for delicious holiday favorite piled on the world
famous Sam's Club hot dog, or maybe you didn't, but
(12:42):
we did it anyway. Yeah they yeah, sure they sure did.
They sure did. And I have to read some quotes
from this article. Honestly, go read the whole article. It
is very funny, but here are a few quotes from Matt.
It's written by by Joe Vigolito quote, the creations are
(13:06):
almost too monstrous to believe true abominations on a bun.
But could these hot dogs possibly taste as horrific as
they look? To answer that question, I tried do the
holladog cart in Laura, Manhattan to sample these calamitous concoctions
for myself. And Okay, so the consensus seems to be
(13:27):
the season's meetings is the winner. That one's the one
that's like, this is a little much better.
Speaker 2 (13:32):
Yeah, okay, well, I mean sure, it's just you're putting
other meat on top of a hot dog.
Speaker 1 (13:37):
It's like turkey and ray roast that goes together. That's okay, right,
And that was the one the reviewer tried first, and
then came the other two. The article goes on, the
second dog was far less subtle, pairing gravy laden mashed
potatoes and frosted sugar cookie crumbles atop the same all
(13:58):
beef hot dog. This is also about the point where
the taste test began to feel more like an affront
to humanity rather than a fun holiday promotion. While the
first two hot dogs might be considered suitable, albeit absurd,
fulfillments of the holodog premise. The wheels truly came off,
with the final one frankly both. Once again, the individual
(14:21):
components of this hot dog were fine. The pumpkin pie
was sweet, the candy cane shards were peppermintea, and the
frank was characteristically plump. Combined, though it was an unholy mess,
Perhaps the only value to come out of eating this
hot dog are the existential questions it forced me to confront.
It turns out, should I eat this hot dog with
(14:42):
pumpkin pie and candy cane on? It isn't too far
off from why am I alive? Or has God forsaken
us all? It's so good? Oh goodness, it's really great.
I reckon that you read the whole thing. I mean,
(15:04):
just to just to note. I'm sure it's not a
surprise to anyone. But it's also difficult to eat these.
They kind of fall.
Speaker 2 (15:12):
Apart, sure, Yeah, yeah, it sounds difficult to keep all
of that going on a single like in a single bun. Yeah,
because you know, like like some of these toppings are
not especially that last one right, like like pumpkin pie,
Like if you had like a pumpkin pie spread, if
you had like a like a little spread of pumpkin
(15:34):
pie filling in there. Then I could see it being cohesive.
But it's just a piece of pie. There's no way
to contain that within a bun.
Speaker 1 (15:46):
No, just like there's no way to contain these questions
after you try to eat it. Oh oh gosh, that
was a late fine for me, and I was very glad,
I found horrified and happy.
Speaker 2 (16:05):
Existential crisis. Indeed, well, I think that we both need
a little bit of a break to ponder ponder these questions.
So while we do that, let's take a quick break
for a word from our sponsors, and we're back. Thank
(16:31):
you sponsors. And okay, so things that I should have
guessed but didn't ever really look into. The United States
is not the only place that puts usself ourselves through
this kind of thing. No, yeah. So meanwhile, over in
the UK.
Speaker 1 (16:49):
Bailey's, through various partnerships, has launched two new Christmas themed products,
squirty Cream and Expresso Extra Thick Cream. And all right,
if you, like me, have no idea what either of
those things are, because you apparently don't speak enough British.
(17:12):
Squirty cream is their term for like whipped cream and
a canister you know, with a little squirty tops. Squirty
cream was so much more fun.
Speaker 2 (17:21):
Okay, no, no, well all right, like our term is
more laborious, but a lot less like gross to my
ears fun gross, I sure?
Speaker 1 (17:34):
Yeah yeah yeah.
Speaker 2 (17:37):
Also, extra thick cream here indicates a type of.
Speaker 1 (17:40):
Like potted custard, and I read on a grocery store
kind of industry site that it won an award of.
Speaker 2 (17:51):
So yeah, yeah, yeah, sounds okay.
Speaker 1 (17:53):
Sure.
Speaker 2 (17:55):
Aldi's over there. Also released a couple of festive sauces.
A Brussels sprout che hot sauce and then like a
spiced cranberry hot honey hot sauce. Sounds sounds fine, that's okay.
Speaker 1 (18:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (18:10):
The Snack Brand Tailors launched a few flavors potato chips,
by which I mean crisps and also popcorn. The crisps
come and flavors hot honey, pigs and blankets, and then
bree bubby and orange and then spicy prawn cocktail ridge cut.
The popcorn is an amaretto and orange toffee flavor. The
(18:33):
bree bubbly and orange is the one really throwing me.
Speaker 1 (18:38):
Yeah, yeah, I can't bathom it.
Speaker 2 (18:44):
No, no, exactly, because right I'm like, okay, bree sure orange, Okay,
what the heck is bubbly flavor? And how do you
put it on a chip?
Speaker 1 (18:55):
Yeah? Like if you said mimosa, maybe I'd be like,
okay still or orange?
Speaker 2 (19:00):
Orange is the flavor of right?
Speaker 1 (19:07):
We need answers.
Speaker 2 (19:08):
Yeah, and we can't even subject ourselves to this one.
I furthermore, until like today, apparently did not understand how
important pigs and blankets are to British Christmas traditions. There's
also a brand of squeeze cheese called Primula that has
(19:31):
released a pigs and blanket flavor of squeeze cheese for
the holidays, so you can put pigs and blanket flavored
cheese on top of your holiday pigs and blanket.
Speaker 1 (19:43):
Wow, we're getting a lot of put your hot cocoa,
finishing sugar and hot cocoa, but your yeah, squeezy cheese.
Speaker 2 (19:52):
Our marketer's just tired. Are they just going? We heard
you like this thing? You want to put that thing
on top of that thing? We can help.
Speaker 1 (20:00):
I feel like Holly Hollywood reboots. I did notice that
too when I was looking into this. A lot of
pigs and blankets, yeah coming up. Yeah, so we'll have
to listeners right in, but also we'll have to look
into that. Yeah, sure, share sting. We do have a
couple of honorable mentions. One of them that caught my
(20:20):
eye Dots lump of coal gum drops, which are black
gum drops with BlackBerry or black cherry flavor.
Speaker 2 (20:29):
And I'm I'm fascinated by the fact that they're not
licorice flavored, because that's something that Dots already mikes. They're
called crows, but they're in the dots shape. I'm guessing
that they wanted this to be fun and not like
an actual punishment for the I'm guessing like ninety percent
of American children who do not like licorice flavored things.
Speaker 1 (20:51):
Yeah, I think you're probably right. It is also very
funny to be how it's like, give them the gift
of coal.
Speaker 2 (21:00):
Oh okay, yeah, no, naughty kids get cold, yeah stalking
Yeah sure yeah.
Speaker 1 (21:07):
Uh. Reese's. Reese's has Reese's miniatures Sugar Cookie Milk, Chocolate,
Peanut Butter Cups, Candy Mouthful Wow Yeah, which are ESEs
but with white chocolate and sugar cookie bits. It still
has the peanut butter, but in the peanut butter sugar
cookie bits.
Speaker 2 (21:27):
Okay, sure, I've read really mixed reviews for that one,
but people are anti white chocolate they get.
Speaker 1 (21:36):
Yeah, yeah, that's true. That's true. Then there are I
just thought this was kind of funny Santa shaped kit
cat bars.
Speaker 2 (21:45):
I still I didn't look this up, and I can't
picture it because a kit cat again, like a kit
cat has a shape. Yeah, like that's it's the shape
of a kit cat.
Speaker 1 (21:51):
That m's it's little Santa claws do. But that's why
I had to look into it, because I like wondering how.
Speaker 2 (22:01):
The texture plays out in that I don't know. Yeah. Also,
although any gingerbread house could be Barbie themed if you
wanted that, Mattel did license a gingerbread kit called the
Christmas Barbie Dream House, including everything you need to make
like a modest, mid century modern looking gingerbread house, along
(22:24):
with cookie versions of Barbie and Christy and Barbie's dog
Taffy so that you can, you know, play with them
in the house. Yeah, and it it includes so much
pink icing.
Speaker 1 (22:33):
So much of course. Wow.
Speaker 2 (22:42):
Okay, yeah, yeah, why not? Why not?
Speaker 1 (22:45):
That sounds fun? Yeah, that sounds fun. Well, moving out
of food, we do have a couple of drinks. I
feel like a lot of the things I found, I
was like, oh, sure this beer company did pomegranate in
their beer.
Speaker 2 (22:57):
Sure.
Speaker 1 (22:59):
But what I saw that a lot of people were
writing about and people seemed excited about, was Seven Up
has released a flavor, seven Up Shirley Temple.
Speaker 2 (23:07):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (23:08):
In it are the flavors of cherry and pomegranate, and
they're available in regular and sugar zero sugar versions. People
seem to really dig it, not the zero sugar version
so much, but the regular one people are really really
excited about.
Speaker 2 (23:22):
Yeah, yeah, that sounds festive. I'm sure it's a nice bright,
reddish pinkish color. Yeah, cans are pretty heck yeah. For
this next beverage entry, what you need to know first
is that is that Duncan Donuts has a line of
branded alcoholic canned cold coffees and teas. This was news
(23:46):
to me. Oh dear, Like they're made by Harpoon Brewery
in Boston. Like the teas that have some like fruit
flavors added, the coffees are creamy. They're all right at
like six percent ABV. So if you want an alcoholic
coffee and a can and you know, and instead of
making one yourself, then you can go and purchase that
(24:06):
if you are of an appropriate age in your area.
And so, yes, for the holidays, Dunkin Donuts released a
peppermint mocha iced latte that's alcoholic in a can. The
tagline shake up the Holiday Party.
Speaker 1 (24:24):
Oh that's a cut to moment. You're like, yes, let's
try this, Dudela, And then I'm.
Speaker 2 (24:34):
Really wondering about the flavor on these guys.
Speaker 1 (24:38):
Yeah, I mean, each their own. I think that would
give me a headache. And also I can't really have peppermint,
but even so, yeah, that would give me.
Speaker 2 (24:50):
Hey, but hey, yeah, if you're into the peppermint mocha
iced latte thing, yeah, and you're of an appropriate age
in your area, drink responsibly.
Speaker 1 (25:00):
Exactly.
Speaker 2 (25:03):
Well, we do have a little bit more to talk
about here, but first we are going to take one
more quick break for a word from our sponsors.
Speaker 1 (25:19):
And we're back. Thank you, sponsor, Yes, thank you.
Speaker 2 (25:23):
Okay, So I wanted to put in here at least
one non edible food related item because why wouldn't we
talk about something non edible on a food show? Because specifically,
they've gone and don and again with the food scented perfumes.
We've had a whole mini episode about these kind of
(25:45):
stunt perfumes that brands will co create. This one is
new for the holiday. Miller high Life collaborated to create
dive bahfume m with scent notes from your favorite dive bar.
Speaker 1 (26:05):
No, listen, when I think of a dive bar, I
love a good dive bar, but I'm not thinking of
the good smell of the.
Speaker 2 (26:13):
Positive sensory like scent related Uh No, not really, not
really like oh yes, bleach and stale beer.
Speaker 1 (26:31):
And that's no one's gotten ill.
Speaker 2 (26:38):
According according to today dot Com, the scent notes involved
included a cedar wood and patuli meant to inspire the
wood of a bar top, you know, tobacco and leather
for the scent of like a good, well worn bar stool. Yeah,
Shimpaka blossom, which is kind of flowery, a reminiscent of
(27:00):
a bartender cracking open a Miller High Life. Okay, it's yeah, sure,
sure uh and then uh sea salt for the basket
of fries that you obviously order along with your champagne
of beers.
Speaker 1 (27:18):
Yes, that I agree with.
Speaker 2 (27:20):
It was available. The perfume and the or the bar
Foom in limited quantities for three days only for sixty
dollars a bottle, and its time is passed. So sorry
about that, folks. Again, listeners, if one of you got
in on this before it sold out.
Speaker 1 (27:39):
Oh my goodness, please, Oh it doesn't sound bad of it.
I don't agree with necessarily that this is what my
dive bar was been like. But this doesn't sound that bad.
You know.
Speaker 2 (27:53):
That sounds yeah, no, that sounds that sounds pleasant. There's
a few like like, I'm not really a fan of
Petula you or Shimpaka, but but the rest of that
sounds nice. So like half of the things I wouldn't enjoy, but.
Speaker 1 (28:07):
Yeah, but the other half you'd be like, Okay.
Speaker 2 (28:10):
If someone was into that kind of thing, I could
see where it would be nice. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Another
thing that we did miss this was more of a
like Thanksgiving thing. So Baskin Robbins has apparently more than
once had a Flavor of the Month for November meant
(28:31):
to evoke a cheese plate. It's called Bree my guest.
Speaker 1 (28:38):
Yes, of course.
Speaker 2 (28:41):
It's apparently a combination of bri and Barata flavored ice
creams with like pieces of almond and pistachio and apricot swirl, so,
you know, just to get you in the holiday, in
the holiday mood.
Speaker 1 (28:56):
I think I probably would like that. Actually, oh that
sounds great. That mad later, but I the flavor in
that moment, I would be very happy.
Speaker 2 (29:07):
I think, yeah, absolutely, yeah, I'd try it. That's next year,
we'll look out.
Speaker 1 (29:13):
Okay, Okay, Well, speaking of next year, I just want
to do a quick run through of some of these
trends I found that are related to the holidays. I
have discovered. I don't think it's any surprise to anyone.
I'm not on a lot of social media, and especially
I've never been on TikTok, so that's a lot of
(29:33):
these things. But friend of the show, friend in real life,
and my co host over at s mivinty, she just
did a wrap up of like big TikTok trends okay,
and so many of them. I was like, what what
so listeners right in, uh, if you have any experience
with these? One I found that kind of made me
(29:54):
raise my eyebrow. A bone broth hot chocolate apparently a
trend on TikTok yep where you swap out the milk
or water for bone broth. What, Yeah, I don't. I'm
trying to.
Speaker 2 (30:11):
I mean, sure, fine, you know, I like I put
cocoa in my chili. I'm still mad about it. I'm
trying to not. I'm like fat, I'm like checking myself,
like are you just mad that it's from TikTok? But
it also seems really emblematic of TikTok, so.
Speaker 1 (30:31):
Well, I know your feelings about bone broth, just as
a kind of how it's labeled and stuff.
Speaker 2 (30:39):
Just it's just stuck. It's just stuck. We had a
word for it.
Speaker 1 (30:45):
It's fine. I had to be rebranded, Laura. Yeah, so
many of these. I'm like, we're not, we aren't judgmental
over here about food, but so many of them, I'm like, wow,
I did really miss this. I did not see this anywhere.
There are a lot of candy trends freeze dried candy
(31:07):
and candy salads, which are just bowls of candy.
Speaker 2 (31:12):
I think, how much of them do you eat at
the same time.
Speaker 1 (31:15):
I think it's like a it's like a pot look,
but different people bring different candy and make different candy videos.
Speaker 2 (31:23):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, if this is what you're into, I
support you. I don't understand it. I don't have to
not everything has to be for me, No.
Speaker 1 (31:35):
Exactly, both of us. One piece of candy could do
us in. So yeah, have your candy salad. Another thing
I saw a fig leaf in everything, ice cream, parfet
syrups and cocktails and dressings. This one may have been
more UK based, so listeners right in. I was into that. Yeah.
(31:58):
Another one that made me feel really old. Classic martinis
was apparently a big trip. People be like, have you
tried this? It's got a lot of olive ju.
Speaker 2 (32:06):
This wild thing called a martini, but a classic one,
like not a lemon drop a martini.
Speaker 1 (32:12):
Yeah, it comes it always comes back around.
Speaker 2 (32:16):
Yeah, No, that's legit. It's a good cocktail.
Speaker 1 (32:17):
It's nice. It's a classic. Yeah, reason yes. And then
another one this willowed to be a future episode holiday
food for Pets Holiday theb food specifically for pets.
Speaker 2 (32:31):
Like that you make at home or that you have
purchased from a purveyor that has already come in, like
this is the turkey and cranberry.
Speaker 1 (32:42):
Both probably both that In this case, this is less
of a TikTok trend. It was just something I found
on trends list and it was just purveyors that you
buy from.
Speaker 2 (32:53):
Okay, yeah, but I saw that was interesting. Yeah sure.
Speaker 1 (32:58):
Hey, hey man, you.
Speaker 2 (33:01):
Let that animal that doesn't know what Thanksgiving is? No
that it's Thanksgiving? Right?
Speaker 1 (33:09):
Oh my, there's a lot. There was a lot on
that trend list. I try to keep it related to
holiday ish stuff, but my own mind, I missed all
out on a lot of trends.
Speaker 2 (33:21):
Hey, I mean, did you miss it or did you
just not experience it?
Speaker 1 (33:28):
Oh it's a good question. Another existential question I must
ask after this episode.
Speaker 2 (33:34):
Again, I don't mean to if any or all of
these are things that y'all were into. I'm so excited
for you to be excited about things. I love excitement
wherever we get it. I kid because I care.
Speaker 1 (33:49):
Yes, yeah, you know, we love strong opinions here. So
people like to have strong opinions about food, and that's
that's okay. Yeah, as long as you take it stride
and are accepting that people might not agree with you,
you can joke.
Speaker 2 (34:04):
I feel like if you're putting heck and stock in
your hot chocolate, you're already like you're you're you're you're
welcoming you're welcoming the criticism.
Speaker 1 (34:16):
Mmm mm hmm, Well, I don't know. I feel I've
got a lot of thoughts I've got to think about.
I've got to think some things through. But that's what
the end of the year is for.
Speaker 2 (34:29):
It is reflection. Yeah, yes, yeah, and uh, thank thank
you all so much for being with us all this
wacky year and during this wonderful and slightly confounding holiday season.
Speaker 1 (34:46):

food product, a very wacky food product, please let us know.
