Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello, the internet, and welcome to this episode of 28
Trends Later. Oh, that one courtesy of Vanadium Silver. The
Zeit Temple. 28 Trends Later, the Zeit Temple.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
Oh, yeah.
Speaker 1 (00:12):
Love the Zeit Temple. Love a bone temple. The best.
It's such a weird premise for a movie. They really
knocked that one out of the park.
Speaker 3 (00:24):
That's what's so good because it's not a fucking thing
that just makes such a superficial idea of a story
that normally gets made. You're like, this guy's kind of
living alone and he's making a temple. He's tripping kids
out on his homebrew psychedelics.
Speaker 1 (00:40):
I think the premise is let Ralph Fiennes cook. That's it.
Literally just let this motherfucker cook for an entire film.
Cure that alpha. My name is Jack O'Brien. That over
there is Mr. Miles Gray. This is the episode where
we tell you what is trending on this Tuesday, September 1st.
Speaker 2 (01:04):
It's September. We made it.
Speaker 3 (01:07):
It's funny to remember how like I was saying on
this morning's episode, I'm like, oh yeah, like summer's over mentally.
But like at least in LA, that heat break, that
heat wave finally broke.
Speaker 1 (01:18):
On September, like it knew. Like it fucking knew. All right,
knock it off. Yeah. Which I appreciate that move from
the heat wave to just be.
Speaker 2 (01:30):
Like, all right, guys, they've had enough.
Speaker 3 (01:32):
I'm feeling pretty good about the earth right now.
Speaker 1 (01:34):
Mm-hmm.
Speaker 3 (01:35):
You know, it respected that it was September 1st and
it knocked off the triple digit heat wave.
Speaker 2 (01:41):
It knows the rules. And we're getting rain maybe this week.
Speaker 1 (01:43):
We're supposed to get a whole bunch of rain. Okay,
let's not go overboard Atmospheric river Oh, really? I've seen
that phrase tossed around a little bit.
Speaker 3 (01:54):
I've seen that phrase before in the news Yeah Certain
times of.
Speaker 1 (01:57):
Year Well, there was a supposed hurricane heading towards us
Or typhoon or whatever the fuck it's called in the
Pacific Ocean Yeah Anyways, this is LA weather talk This
is the weather report I'm looking out my window and
it's sunny Oh.
Speaker 3 (02:15):
I forgot to I was going to upload this picture.
Cause I told you my mom and David Lynch have
the same birthday. And like, whenever she would interview him,
they were like always very friendly. And when I, the
other night with the heat wave, when my power went out,
I slept at my mom's and I didn't realize she
put up this like tribute to him.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
On her, on her refrigerator. Wow. On her refrigerator. That's beautiful.
Speaker 1 (02:38):
Couple hangs, a couple different hangs with the man.
Speaker 2 (02:41):
They're sitting at the booth. Key King. I mean, God,
Shout out David. Shout out my mom.
Speaker 1 (02:47):
Magically de-Lynch-ish.
Speaker 2 (02:49):
All right. What's trending? What's trending?
Speaker 1 (02:51):
By the way, you shared a picture of the Zite
child last night that was like, what the fuck was that, man?
Speaker 2 (02:57):
You can't just shit. You've seen him in person. We're
chatting with Sophie. I know.
Speaker 1 (03:03):
I've seen how cute he is in person, but it
was like, Just a picture of the Zite child sucking
his thumb with a beautiful background, like amazing.
Speaker 2 (03:13):
A nice LA sunset in the background.
Speaker 1 (03:16):
Just so people know, Miles is like one of those
people who's just sharing things that should be on the
wall of a museum casually in the chat.
Speaker 2 (03:25):
That's you honor me.
Speaker 3 (03:26):
I didn't even think that it was that worthy, but
the child does most of the lifting.
Speaker 1 (03:30):
Yeah, I mean, the child's doing some heavy lifting.
Speaker 3 (03:32):
Oh, if you want to hear him, if you want
to hear him, tune into the latest episode of ain't
it footy. I was trying to record when he got
home from school and was like, daddy, I.
Speaker 2 (03:40):
Want to talk on the, I want to talk to that.
He's talking now.
Speaker 1 (03:43):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (03:44):
And you've seen it.
Speaker 3 (03:44):
I mean, you know, but anyway, chat mate, if you
want to hear the guy's child's voice, there's an incentive
to subscribe to ain't it footy.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
There you go.
Speaker 1 (03:53):
Um, all right. Uh, what's happening. Uh, we have an
update from yesterday or this morning. Uh, we were talking
about how, uh, with Trump changing, uh, Lake Ontario to
Lake America It just sucks so bad Just as a
name It's such a loser move too You look like
(04:14):
a loser when you do it You can't spin that
any other way Right.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
Or like, nay, but after a state or something. I
don't know.
Speaker 1 (04:21):
Just being like, America. Like, none of them are named
Lake Canada. You dipshit. But anyways, he made the change.
And Google's Department of Pleasing... air emperor uh snapped to
it was like we yes sir uh actually before you
even asked us to we change it and map quest
(04:44):
came out was like get fucked we're not going to
change it and map quest is now the number one
map app in the app.
Speaker 3 (04:50):
Store yep um it's actually i think it's the number
one app it became yeah Which, by the way, I
did not know it was still out here.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
I did not know MapQuest was still an option.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
Yeah. Does it give live direction? Honestly, the last time
I used.
Speaker 1 (05:08):
MapQuest was printing off of a printer. I'm not familiar
with MapQuest's game. Can I open the map and just
have it and use it to navigate? Oh, hell yeah, MapQuest.
Speaker 3 (05:22):
It's fun.
Speaker 2 (05:23):
All right. You can put little characters in there, like ways.
Little side quests.
Speaker 3 (05:28):
It's such low-hanging fruit because with Apple Maps and Google
Maps and Google being like, yeah, man, use our map
technology for whatever. I just love that all it took
was these companies just to be like these massive corporations
for like the OG in the corner that was collecting
dust in the form of MapQuest to be like, you rang?
(05:51):
And all they had to do was say, man, fuck
your dumb renaming nonsense.
Speaker 2 (05:56):
This is MapQuest.
Speaker 1 (05:58):
And they didn't even need to, like, take a political position.
They just said, we took the same approach we did
with the Gulf of Mexico. Be part of the conversation
and give people an app that keeps the names they're
familiar with. So all they had to do was be
pro familiarity.
Speaker 2 (06:13):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 4 (06:14):
You know?
Speaker 2 (06:15):
Yeah, be anti-confusion. And you are here.
Speaker 3 (06:19):
I like, yeah, the general manager said hundreds of thousands
of people signaled to us this weekend that we got
it right by downloading our app. I mean, they must
be fucking celebrating.
Speaker 1 (06:28):
The 10 people at the MapQuest headquarters are just high-fiving
each other.
Speaker 3 (06:32):
They said it's like they're experiencing like 50 times the
normal traffic right now.
Speaker 2 (06:38):
How are they doing? Are they keeping up?
Speaker 3 (06:40):
Dude, they're dumping water all over the servers right now
trying to keep them cool.
Speaker 2 (06:44):
Literally. They just have jugs of water.
Speaker 1 (06:46):
They're like, oh, these aren't those servers. We don't have
AI servers. All right.
Speaker 2 (06:52):
I'm using it. I can change.
Speaker 3 (06:53):
You can pick a questie, which is like a weird
little character.
Speaker 2 (06:56):
I look like I think I'm a night elf. Ooh. Yeah, Jack.
I'm doing pretty good with my new map quest.
Speaker 1 (07:05):
I mean, it does sound more fun than any of
the other options. Map quest.
Speaker 2 (07:11):
Oh, yeah. Let's go. That's great. It's perfect. It's perfect.
Let me see. Let me see if the direction's going
to the office. Perfect. Great. Love it. Yep. This is all...
Who'd have thought, Jack, that... I think it's the other thing, too,
is they're.
Speaker 3 (07:27):
Like, can it possibly work, like, on the scale of
Google or Apple when, like, this technology is now so ubiquitous?
Speaker 2 (07:33):
It's like... Yeah.
Speaker 1 (07:34):
Everybody has access to the live traffic updates and maps. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (07:39):
Yep. They're gonna have to try this one. Gonna have
to try this one. I will say... Yeah. Like, live....
Speaker 1 (07:46):
Maps, uh, and with traffic updates is up there with
Shazam for the things on my phone that I'm like, yeah,
it's bad. It's ending the world, but I do, I
do really appreciate that, that feature.
Speaker 2 (07:59):
So someone like me, I need it. Yeah. Thank you.
Map quest. Uh, let's talk about Tupac, uh.
Speaker 1 (08:06):
Because, uh, we recently reran the Tupac iconograph. Um, but
his murder has come to a legal conclusion after 30
years of.
Speaker 4 (08:17):
You're not going to believe this. Terrible police work. Terrible
police work.
Speaker 3 (08:25):
Absolutely diabolical police work. But yeah, a jury in Vegas
has found Dwayne Keefie D. Davis guilty of the murder
for his role in the drive-by shooting murder of Tupac.
Speaker 2 (08:41):
The trial was only two weeks long.
Speaker 3 (08:43):
The prosecutor said that Davis was the quote on the
ground on site commander of the effort to kill Tupac.
And like people who have seen the documentaries and know
was revenge plot after there was a fight with Davis's nephew,
Orlando Anderson, like in a casino, like prior to the shooting.
(09:04):
But yeah, a lot of people were like, from the beginning, like, man,
there's a lot of people who are telling you, they
know stuff about it, including the guy who shot him. Um,
and then he died in a shooting in 1998. So
that kind of went cold. And like, they just left
all these like leads just out there and kind of like,
who knows what's going on. Um, So anyway, fueled many
(09:27):
conspiracy theories. Not a top priority for us, guys.
Speaker 1 (09:30):
For some reason, this famous, renowned, incredible talent.
Speaker 2 (09:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (09:39):
Guys, it was a priority, man. We did the best
we could do. Yeah, this is as good as it gets.
Speaker 2 (09:43):
We fucking suck at this shit. We fucking suck. We're
so bad. What the hell? Assaulting murders? Yeah. But Davis, KPD,
he first.
Speaker 1 (09:52):
Again, I mean, just real briefly, we were talking about
this with Nancy Guthrie's, uh, with Savannah Guthrie's mom's disappearance
and just, you know, this is not a special case.
This is not like, wow, this particular police chief is
really bad at it. This is just what you get
for the, the version of policing that we have in
(10:15):
this country, uh, Um, where it's more expensive than other places.
We spend more of our taxpayer dollars, more of our
money on it. Yeah. Um, they are bad at their
job because they have no, uh, requirements other than you
know being.
Speaker 2 (10:32):
Willing to shoot an innocent person.
Speaker 1 (10:34):
Who's interested in having a gun at at the office yeah.
Speaker 3 (10:39):
It's i mean i i wonder if like the amount
of effort they put into solving a murder is kind
of like what you or i would do as a
layman and first be like all right what movie is
this like maybe right yeah and then go hard on
that and then be like we were wet we should
have you know what jack we should have looked at
that this.
Speaker 1 (10:56):
One goes all the way to the top Oh, wait, sorry.
There's a guy who's saying he did the shooting.
Speaker 3 (11:01):
Yeah, yeah, yeah. They're like, no, I bet it was B.I.G.
We should ask that guy. He wasn't in town.
Speaker 1 (11:08):
Fuck. All right, we're out.
Speaker 2 (11:10):
Cold. This one's gone cold. This one's gone Luke.
Speaker 1 (11:13):
Let's go. Let's go to the casino. Miles, how'd they
make the break in the case? What brilliant police work
were they able to do?
Speaker 2 (11:22):
So, I mean, look, this is the thing.
Speaker 3 (11:24):
We talk a lot of shit about cops and how
lazy they are, and they're not actually pursuing leads or
anything like that. However, they actually were, they did some
brilliant work when Keefy D.
Speaker 2 (11:34):
Davis was He.
Speaker 3 (11:36):
Self snitched on himself in a memoir he wrote in 2019.
Speaker 2 (11:40):
Right.
Speaker 4 (11:41):
That's how they got him. Quote, this is what he
wrote in a book. He just wrote his confession into
a publicly available book.
Speaker 3 (11:46):
These are my confessions. He said, quote, No words were exchanged.
The time for talking had passed. The shit was on.
Tupac made an erratic move and began to... Exclamation point.
The shit was on. Exclamation point.
Speaker 1 (11:55):
He's enthusiastic about the confession he's about to write down.
Speaker 2 (11:59):
It goes even further.
Speaker 3 (12:00):
Tupac made an erratic move and began to reach down
beneath his seat. It was the first and only time
in my life that I could relate to the police
command to keep your hands where I can see them. Instead,
Pac pulled out a strap and that's when the fireworks started.
One of my guys from the backseat grabbed the Glock
and just started busting back.
Speaker 1 (12:17):
Hmm.
Speaker 3 (12:18):
So again, this is from The Guardian, quote, it was
Davis's decision to write the book that ultimately led to the.
Speaker 2 (12:25):
Trial, prosecutors said.
Speaker 3 (12:27):
Prosecutor Mark DiGiacomo said, quote, had he decided to never
write the book, he would not probably have ever even
been prosecuted for the crime.
Speaker 2 (12:36):
Yes.
Speaker 3 (12:36):
So that's how they cracked the case was this guy
wrote a book in 2019. and then completely reopened the
investigation after that.
Speaker 2 (12:44):
That's amazing.
Speaker 1 (12:47):
Like, yes, this is, this is the only way, like,
it's also the thing with like the Charlie Kirk shooting
where they were like, we got the guy folks.
Speaker 2 (12:54):
Don't worry.
Speaker 1 (12:55):
We got the wrong guy. Uh, if anybody like knows
anyone who walks like this, could you call us? And
then they just happened to get like the, the person
who they have, uh, who they think did it.
Speaker 3 (13:10):
Happened to have a dad who was a cop, I think? Right,
or something involved. Yeah, where they were like, this can't stand. Hey,
if you happen to see someone who looks like they're
walking with a rifle in their pant leg, give us
a call.
Speaker 2 (13:21):
Give us a call. It's funny, too, because Kifidi's defense.
Speaker 3 (13:25):
All they had as a defense was, dude, that book,
please don't listen to that book, okay?
Speaker 2 (13:31):
That should not be admitted as evidence. Okay, and it is.
That's just him staying stuff for clout, man.
Speaker 1 (13:37):
Could you read the section immediately after that? Uh, and
this is not just me saying stuff for clout. I
really did that shit for real. Believe that. Believe that.
And even if I come up in court and say
I didn't, was just saying it for clout, obviously I
really did that shit.
Speaker 3 (13:55):
Cause you know, I did that shit. Me, Keefy D,
Dwayne Davis, 63 years old. Former Southside Compton Crip gang leader. Yeah, he's...
So that's done and dusted. Although Aubrey O'Day from Danity Kane,
who is featured heavily in that.
Speaker 2 (14:12):
I mean, she's definitely part of the Diddy story.
Speaker 3 (14:15):
I can't remember how much he was in that documentary
on Netflix that 50 Cent put out.
Speaker 2 (14:20):
But she just posted.
Speaker 3 (14:21):
She's like, see, he goes to show you even if
a guy in the car can be convicted of murder,
you can keep going to find accountability for Pac's murder. Like,
what about the people that may have financed, coordinated, and
arranged this?
Speaker 2 (14:36):
And being like, the hardest winking you've ever seen. Diddy, diddy, diddy, diddy, diddy, diddy.
So she's out here being like, go further now. Ask
some more questions. Ask some more questions.
Speaker 3 (14:49):
Diddy or didn't he? That is the question.
Speaker 2 (14:53):
I'm merely saying, continue to look.
Speaker 3 (14:57):
So... We haven't heard anything from Diddy's camp, but that's
that chapter of pop culture. Yeah, pop culture history wrapped
after 30 years.
Speaker 1 (15:08):
I think he's a little too rich and a little
too unlikely to write a confession into a published memoir
to be caught by the Cracker Jack team that they
have on this one.
Speaker 2 (15:20):
Although you never know.
Speaker 1 (15:21):
Let's take a quick break and we'll be back. And
we're back.
Speaker 2 (15:35):
We're back. And, Miles, it's been a while.
Speaker 1 (15:37):
It's been a while since we've had to, like, come
up with a new name. Remember a new name for someone.
I think it was probably Ye. Ye was, like, constantly
changing it. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (15:53):
But... And maybe there... It's a big moment.
Speaker 1 (15:57):
Now that I'm saying that, I feel like there's one
that I'm forgetting that was fairly recent.
Speaker 2 (16:01):
Um.
Speaker 1 (16:02):
Snoop Lion, who actually a lot of people don't realize this,
used to be called Snoop Dogg.
Speaker 2 (16:08):
Snoop Doggy Dogg, even. Snoop Doggy Dogg. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (16:12):
And then changed it to Snoop Lion, as we all
know him by today. So we got a new one,
and this is big for name changes. This is up
there with Cat Stevens becoming Yusuf Islam.
Speaker 2 (16:25):
Yeah, that's right. Truly. That was a big one.
Speaker 1 (16:28):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (16:29):
Or most definitely became Yassine Bey.
Speaker 3 (16:31):
We are now, according to the bios I've seen, Miley
Cyrus is no more.
Speaker 2 (16:37):
Miley Cyrus. My favorite. Maya Rudolph being Whitney Houston.
Speaker 3 (16:43):
Okay, Miley Cyrus.
Speaker 2 (16:47):
Miley Cyrus.
Speaker 3 (16:49):
Miley Cyrus is no more, and we are just going
by Miley.
Speaker 2 (16:55):
End of. That's it. Straight up, Miley.
Speaker 3 (16:58):
No real explanation as to why she would drop her surname.
I'm guessing this is just some easy PR to generate
interest for an upcoming album, because that's what is happening
with her.
Speaker 2 (17:09):
But Miley.
Speaker 3 (17:10):
30 she's 33 years old now i'm like damn god
you're in your 30s now miley i.
Speaker 2 (17:16):
Thought you were just this the child earlier with.
Speaker 1 (17:19):
Jay is on your else who dropped their last name
dropped the of nazareth at 33 really kind of became
super iconic at the age of 33 um that's uh
i so look I kind of like it. I like
just a little cheap heat, you know, it's.
Speaker 2 (17:38):
Easy to, cause nobody, there's no other Miley either. So yeah.
There is not.
Speaker 1 (17:43):
And also I like it because it's going to piss
off Billy Ray Cyrus. And yeah, for some reason, like
do it doing these icon episodes. Um, the fact that
he's the only person who like has, uh, a simmering
beef with weird Al Yankovic. Everybody, everybody else is just like, yeah, man,
I was like honored to have him do a parody
(18:05):
of my song. But I think he has, he has
like kind of not, not the best reputation. Like people
seem to think he's a bit of an asshole. Um,
he also was mad at David Lynch, speaking of David
Lynch for, uh, ruining his life and inviting Satan into
his world by putting him in one of the best
(18:27):
movies of the 21st century, Mulholland drive. He was like,
if that hadn't happened, I never moved to Hollywood. Maya
Lee Cyrus never has a entertainment career and she's not
smoking weed on the internet. David Lynch was a vehicle
(18:49):
for Satan. So, I mean, dropping the Cyrus has to
hurt him a little bit.
Speaker 4 (18:55):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (18:55):
Got to. Would be my guess. I got to say that.
Speaker 1 (18:58):
I'm not sure if you realize this, but everything that
happens in the world is actually about Billy Ray Cyrus.
Speaker 2 (19:04):
Everything. Even the Iran War.
Speaker 1 (19:05):
Even the Iran War was actually focused on Billy Ray Cyrus.
Speaker 2 (19:09):
Hold on.
Speaker 3 (19:10):
I just want to find this one clip because the
way Maya Rudolph hits Miley Cyrus is seared in my
fucking brain.
Speaker 2 (19:18):
The voice is back, Miley Cyrus. Miley Cyrus? The voice
is back, Miley Cyrus. Wow. She says it so many times.
Fucking Miley Cyrus.
Speaker 3 (19:30):
Anyway.
Speaker 2 (19:30):
One of the greats. Do your thing, Miley. I just, yeah.
Speaker 3 (19:35):
The album, there was like an interview she did with
Daryl Hannah, I was reading, and she was like, I'm
just transforming right now.
Speaker 2 (19:41):
It's like a new person.
Speaker 1 (19:42):
She's always become, she has that pop, gene, that idle gene,
that icon gene of like always transforming and always knowing
something new.
Speaker 3 (19:55):
Always knowing a new genre or culture to appropriate to
stay metamorphosis.
Speaker 2 (20:00):
You know what I mean? She's like, let me try
blackness on. What about no blackness? Do people like that? Oh,
Jay's on my feet. God. Hmm. I don't know anymore.
Speaker 1 (20:10):
Um, all right.
Speaker 2 (20:12):
Uh, we got to talk.
Speaker 1 (20:14):
There's a new, new reality show coming out of the
Trump administration. Uh, I feel like we missed The video
The Kelly.
Speaker 4 (20:22):
Loeffler video I think it was when I was out
that week Yeah and I like didn't really You know
me I need you to keep me aware Of like
who the fuck these people are The.
Speaker 2 (20:35):
Creatures on the Periphery of the administration Of the.
Speaker 1 (20:38):
Trump administration but there's this video That Looks... There's been
a couple of these where it's like, is that an animatronic?
What is operating? Who is puppeting this person's body? There's
this video of the SBA head, Kelly Loeffler, walking around
the offices looking like she.
Speaker 2 (21:01):
What is she like?
Speaker 3 (21:02):
She's moving like the, the, the, the, that main blonde
alien and Mars attacks, which is wearing the red dress
that just kind of glides on the ground.
Speaker 1 (21:13):
But then also like, she doesn't know how, like that.
She just entered this body that she's.
Speaker 3 (21:19):
Got baby giraffe, newborn baby giraffe legs for sure. Uh,
she's also very tall and it's funny cause she's like
towering over.
Speaker 2 (21:26):
This one dude.
Speaker 3 (21:27):
And like the beginning of this video, uh, Where she's holding,
mind you, many have pointed out, an empty binder to.
Speaker 2 (21:33):
Make it look like she's working.
Speaker 3 (21:35):
I'll play a little bit so you can kind of
hear what her overall, you know, super energy is like.
Speaker 2 (21:40):
The vibe.
Speaker 4 (21:42):
Administrator, we have some questions for you here at TikTok.
What's going on, Mac?
Speaker 2 (21:45):
What's going on, Mac?
Speaker 4 (21:46):
Are you in the cabinet? Well, actually, I am.
Speaker 1 (21:49):
After I had an incredible conversation with the president by
phone to.
Speaker 2 (21:53):
Become SBA administrator, he texted me and said.
Speaker 4 (21:56):
Actually, you're going to be in the cabinet.
Speaker 3 (21:58):
I wonder if she has a problem walking and talking.
Like she's having to divert all of the energy.
Speaker 1 (22:02):
That's what it's giving now that you mention it. It's
that she has not walked and talked before. And so
she's like trying to, she has these lines learned. They've
written a script that is meant to sound off the
cuff and conversational. And she looks like she's on the
verge of tipping over.
Speaker 2 (22:23):
Yeah, yeah, yeah. She stole the legs she's using or something.
She's like, sorry, man, I just boosted these things. I'm
still getting used to them, man. But anyway, so she.
Speaker 1 (22:32):
This appears to be like take 10, by the way,
this video. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (22:37):
You probably remember her when she was a senator from
Georgia for a little bit, and I think one of
the wealthiest members of Senate to this day, I think,
holds that record.
Speaker 2 (22:45):
To this day! To this day!
Speaker 3 (22:48):
Anyway, so the latest news out of the Small Business
Administration is that they're gearing up for a Shark Tank-style
reality show where American small business owners.
Pitch a group of total fucking idiots for a chance
at a big cash prize.
Speaker 2 (23:04):
I hope that's how it's described in the intro.
Speaker 1 (23:09):
These American small business owners will pitch a group of judges.
Little do they know each and every judge is a
total fucking.
Speaker 2 (23:17):
Idiot who knows fuck all about anything.
Speaker 3 (23:20):
So first up, you got the fucking pop Barbie herself,
Mickey Minaj. out here as guest or guest judge number
one uh then we have airbnb founder and local xenophobe
joe jabia uh as uh judge number two and finally
a famous crypto grifter guy who's multiple fraud accusations grant
(23:45):
cardone um you may have seen video this guy's just
like one of these of like wheeler dealer characters on
the internet.
Speaker 4 (23:52):
Who's always like, this is the problem, man. You need
to get more clients, man. This is the investment opportunity.
You can't turn down, man. You need to take my
class brother. And also if you work at my company,
you need to take a company mandated training and L
Ron Hubbard training that.
Speaker 2 (24:06):
I won't explicitly say is Scientology.
Speaker 3 (24:09):
He's a Scientologist and he makes, he's been sued by
employees who are like, dude, what the fuck is this, man?
I had to do a whole ass Scientology training to
work at this guy's weird crypto real estate fund.
Speaker 2 (24:24):
And he doesn't, yeah.
Speaker 1 (24:25):
You got Nicki Minaj, like you got two people who
have pretty good reasons for being, like the reasons being
that they're the best that the administration could get. But,
and then this dude who is just a scam artist.
Speaker 2 (24:38):
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Allegedly. Allegedly. He's very litigious.
Speaker 3 (24:44):
He got in an argument with the former head of
T-Mobile and the guy was like, you're a fucking scumbag
con artist.
Speaker 2 (24:49):
He's just like, I'm fucking suing you for $ 100 million.
And then settled privately out of court.
Speaker 3 (24:55):
But anyway, yeah, let's not forget that the head of
Airbnb also loves to deal with fucking blatantly racist.
Speaker 2 (25:05):
He's a big Islamophobe. So anyway, everyone's perfect.
Speaker 3 (25:09):
For this show And you're like well who's going to
be the dynamic host Well guess what None other than
aspiring ice goon Dean.
Speaker 1 (25:18):
Cain Famous for his business mind For his sharp business
mind Exactly Dean.
Speaker 3 (25:26):
Cain He's kind of Asian isn't he Maybe he's good
with numbers I heard he's kind of Japanese And he.
Speaker 1 (25:33):
Is it's a shame too I heard he's kind of
Japanese I heard.
Speaker 3 (25:36):
He's kind of Japanese But yeah, again, this is at
a time where the administration could actually help small businesses.
If you listen to the faint screams of small business owners,
many are talking about the high costs of materials, how
the tariffs have caused prices of goods to go up,
(25:56):
and they still have no relief. But again, you got
to go just to their time-honored instinct, which is just
to be like, all right, let's just give another department
its own distraction-based reality show.
Speaker 1 (26:06):
Because they had the travel secretary or what? Who's the
secretary who did the travel show?
Speaker 2 (26:14):
Yes. Yeah. Sean Duffy. Sean Duffy. Sean Duffy.
Speaker 4 (26:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (26:17):
Sean Duffy.
Speaker 1 (26:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (26:19):
As the head of Department of Transportation, he had his
little road trip show put out. And now Health and
Human HHS has one with the RFK.
Speaker 2 (26:27):
Let's cook some. food that isn't real show right right right.
Speaker 3 (26:32):
And now the sba has their own show i can't
wait for the department of war's upcoming show cutest little
soldier yeah um to see how that goes but yeah.
Speaker 1 (26:42):
You've heard of american idol but how about american psycho
where we find the craziest.
Speaker 3 (26:47):
Soldier craziest fucking guys in america bloodlust and then make
them senators that's right.
Speaker 2 (26:54):
Uh, all right.
Speaker 1 (26:55):
And finally we got, we got two nine 11 based
freak outs happening on the right.
Speaker 2 (27:01):
Uh, not counting Lake America.
Speaker 1 (27:03):
The dumbest moment in the current us Canada feud is probably, uh,
the recent controversy involving the CBC and nine 11, uh,
Fox news reported that the Canadian broadcaster CBC was, uh,
telling his journalists not to refer to the nine 11
attacks as terrorist attacks. Um, which is like an internal
memo they sent out. because they have never referred to
(27:26):
any attacks or any... Like, no attacks are ever called
terrorist attacks or no people are ever called terrorists because
that is a subjective term. So they just always have
it attributed. You know, it's never in their headlines that
it's being called a terror attack.
Speaker 3 (27:42):
I had no idea they were actually doing that kind
of level-headed shit where they're like, I mean, obviously, terrorism...
One person's terrorism is one person's liberation movement. They were like,
it's the same way that we don't call anyone freedom
fighters in our headlines, you know?
Speaker 2 (28:00):
Sure, sure.
Speaker 1 (28:01):
That's different, but that's a subjective term. And the BBC
also does this.
Speaker 2 (28:07):
It's kind of.
Speaker 1 (28:08):
Reuters, I think, when Reuters literally prescribed the use of
the word terrorist in their 9-11 coverage in 2001... So
it's not that abnormal. The CBC has backed down and
they announced that they will adjust their policy for 9-11,
presumably just because so many people got mad at them.
(28:30):
They said, we've decided to adjust it to clarify direct
attribution is not required for describing the historic events of
9-11 as terrorism. I mean, it is like, that's kind of,
we all know that that's what it was. Like, it
was a terrorist attack. I feel like the people who
were doing it would be like, hell yeah, that's kind
of what it was. But it is interesting. Like, the
(28:54):
reason they have to be so careful and specific is
because of the Republican Party that is freaking out about
this because they have spent the last 25 years calling
anyone who opposes them terrorists. So that's, that's why they
have to be like, yeah, well, according to this person.
Speaker 3 (29:17):
You'd hate to hear how the American military is viewed abroad.
Certainly not as terrorists either.
Speaker 2 (29:22):
I know.
Speaker 1 (29:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (29:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (29:23):
You guys actually might want people to be careful with
that designation based on how the U S military is viewed. Uh,
and then there's also the, uh, CBS headline, um, that, uh, we,
we're learning today, Barry Weiss, uh, specifically orchestrated. It says,
as the nation prepares to mark 25 years since September 11th, 2001,
(29:46):
Abdul El-Sayed, the democratic nominee for us Senate in Michigan
may be facing the risk of renewed scrutiny and fresh
political attack.
Speaker 2 (29:55):
Um, People are like, wait, what? That doesn't. What are
you talking about? What do you mean? He's Muslim.
Speaker 1 (30:02):
And the article is all about tweets that he deleted.
But the tweets are like him saying COVID was killing
more people than 9-11 and that he wanted America to
fight for public health. the way they fought for the
war on terror. So it was just all things kind of.
Speaker 3 (30:20):
He's still on the side of imperialism. So I don't
know what's the problem there. He's like, yeah, man, we
should be fighting the fucking, the, this as hard as
we fought terror.
Speaker 4 (30:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (30:30):
Um, and yeah, it just seems not controversial, uh, But
Barry Weiss is digging. She's like, I mean, come on.
We got a big 25th anniversary coming up.
Speaker 2 (30:41):
We could use this. We could use this, guys. Wow.
I mean, I don't know if you... J.D.
Speaker 3 (30:47):
Vance was at a rally today, and the way he's
talking about 9-11 is also kind of like.
Speaker 2 (30:51):
He's like, yeah, man. Hey, 25 years, huh?
Speaker 3 (30:54):
9-11. We're about to celebrate the 25th year, or commemorate
the 25th year.
Speaker 2 (30:59):
Celebrate? What country are you in, J.D.
Speaker 3 (31:03):
who made it, frankly, as terrible as it was, it
could have been so much worse. We're about to celebrate
those heroes and commemorate those that we lost. But to celebrate, uh, commemorate. Hey, man,
what are you doing for your 9-11 barbecue? For your
9-11 barbecue? Hell yeah, brother. It's going to be on
a Friday.
Speaker 1 (31:21):
Yeah, I mean, also, so he was 16 at the time,
Abdul El-Sayed, and his tweets were suggesting, like, you know,
we're Fairly critical of the war that came after and,
you know, mourned those who died.
Speaker 2 (31:37):
Yeah, whatever. Such a distraction to even say this is
a thing. You know what I mean? His opponent voted
to authorize the war. Yeah, of course.
Speaker 1 (31:45):
So it seems like that might be more relevant to
be like, this guy, we all know that was a disaster.
Speaker 4 (31:51):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (31:51):
Right maybe we should be pointing that out yeah i.
Speaker 3 (31:54):
Mean all this is an obsession medhi hassan put a
piece on the guardian today that was basically like dude
all this emphasis on el sayed and like hassan piker
just is giving just uh mike rogers a total pass
just with this everyone just paying attention to this and
also just to like the democrats are self-owning by.
Speaker 2 (32:12):
Not forcefully pushing it back to like.
Speaker 3 (32:14):
It's jesus christ i mean this is kind of the
thing in the prediction of like Democrats will have the
opportunity to take back power and fuck it up. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (32:24):
We'll do whatever they can. It's creeping up. It's creeping up.
Speaker 1 (32:29):
It does seem like it's equally important to them to
defeat Republicans and to make sure that there's not a
left-wing movement in their party.
Speaker 3 (32:38):
Right.
Speaker 1 (32:38):
Seems to be the priority 1A and 1B for them.
Speaker 2 (32:43):
Yeah. Which is crazy. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (32:44):
Yep. All right. Those are some of the things that
are trending on this Tuesday, September 1st. We are back
tomorrow with a whole last episode of the show. Until then,
be kind to each other. Be kind to yourselves.
Speaker 2 (32:56):
Get your vaccines.
Speaker 1 (32:57):
We still can't get flu shots. Don't do nothing about
white supremacy. Nope.
Speaker 2 (33:01):
And we will talk to you all tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (33:02):
Bye.
Speaker 2 (33:03):
Bye.
