Speaker 1 (04:08):
That was Shina Light brought to you by Born in
Aroma by Valentino. Beauty for her, for him, for them,
And when we come back, we have your yet Genie
May and Jeezy. This has social media going crazy talking
about what Genie Mai is claiming she needs in order
for their daughter to spend some time with the father.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
All right, it's way up at Angela. Yee ye. T
is next, they says, soothing the rooms.
Speaker 5 (04:31):
From industry shade to all of gossip out, sending Angela's
speeling that.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
Yet it's way up at Angela yee.
Speaker 1 (04:38):
I'm Angela yee, and it's time for some Yet I
thought made it was gonna be here, Dan, you said
by now for so did I?
Speaker 2 (04:44):
What is he doing? All right? Well, you know.
Speaker 1 (04:46):
You shine a light on your friend who had their
second child. Well we want to also shine a light
on Sanya Richards Ross. She gave birth to her baby,
baby number two. She announced it on her Instagram story. Congratulations,
she put hes hair and he's healthy, super chill and
an absolute cutie. God is so good. Thanks for all
the prayers. Ross, party of four loaded, So congratulations to
(05:09):
her and to her husband.
Speaker 2 (05:11):
So yeah, Aaron, all right.
Speaker 1 (05:13):
Jennie May is denying Jesz's gatekeeping parenting claims. If you
guys recall, he had said that she's been gatekeeping their daughter,
and according to what her lawyer has submitted, that was
a response to Jesus's request for her hearing to figure
out a temporary custody schedule. She said that his accusation
that she is interfering with his ability to spend time
(05:35):
with their one year old Monico is false. She said
she's been more than accommodating when it comes to him
asking for time with their daughter, giving him all the
daties asked for, and giving him an extended period of
time with her over the Christmas holiday. And she said
she one hundred percent wants Jesy to be involved in
their daughter's life. But she also said safety is her
number one concern and she claims it's completely reasonable for
(05:56):
safety to be on her mind to clarify things like
securing and locking away all firearms that have been unsecured
in the past, as well as having familiarity and properly
trained caregivers.
Speaker 2 (06:08):
They said that's not gatekeeping, but.
Speaker 1 (06:10):
Rather a responsible effort to prioritize their daughter's well being.
And so now, I so a lot of people are
reacting on social media and saying that she didn't have
a problem with this when they were together, what's the
issue now? But if the truth is that she's been
giving him all the dates that he asked for, that
she's giving him extended time over Christmas, and all she's
(06:30):
saying is, you know, let's just make sure everything is
locked away. I think sometimes things can get really tense
when people are, you know, arguing on both sides. I
would just say, if that's what she's requiring, don't give
her a reason to say you're not doing what you're saying.
And I don't think it's unreasonable to request that. But
I don't know if he has a problem with it
or not. And people were going in and these things
(06:53):
can be really touchy and difficult. But if the main
thing to me is if she's giving him all the
dates that he's requesting, then that that would be a
great scenario.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
What do you think, Dan, I would.
Speaker 6 (07:03):
Just say, as a product from a messy divorce that
he said, she said behind closed doors.
Speaker 2 (07:08):
You never know what's really going on.
Speaker 1 (07:11):
Yeh, Right, it's really hard for people on the outside
to judge what's happening. But in general, if you can
just if somebody says this is what I want, then
just do it. Prove that you did it, and they
can't say anything else. You know, but easier said than done, exactly,
all right. Arie Lennox is celebrating one year of sobriety,
and she shared an update. She said, it was seven
am and I poired me a full glass of shot
(07:32):
a day in preparation for my connecting flights. I just
finished attending and award show the night before. You see,
drinking was my ritual to combat my immense fear of flying.
And so she's talked about this, you know, she put
this on her social media page and she says that
she is now one year sober, So congratulations to her.
When she was on way up, here's what she had
to say about her sobriety journey.
Speaker 12 (07:55):
This app I do is called I Am Sober. That
helps me. It's a community of like the people that
are on the journey too, and it's all kinds of
things people battle with, like maybe it's self harm, maybe
it's like emotional eating, maybe it's drinking. And so I
love I love that app.
Speaker 1 (08:12):
All right, So for anybody else who's listening, that might
be something that we should all be checking on if
you have any issues. And she said, even when it
comes to people like you know, like she just said,
when it comes to eating or doing different things as
a crutch, that could be helpful for you and congratulations
Ari Lennox. That is your ut. When we come back,
we have about last night. That's where we discussed what
(08:33):
we did last night. It's way up night.
Speaker 5 (08:36):
So about last night last night, last nights, I went down.
Speaker 2 (08:41):
It's way up with Angeline.
Speaker 1 (08:43):
I am as I'm getting ready for the new year,
still trying to finish and close out things this year,
but prepare myself. And so I actually had a dinner
with Venita from JP Morgan Chase and one of the
things that she told me, and I know today's a
w Wednesday, so I'll just discuss this right now, was
(09:03):
she was extressing to me how important it is for
my small business, my coffee shop, Coffee Uplifts people to
have a good relationship with our bank, right with a
person at our bank, so that they can always give
us like different options and things that we need to
do as we're trying to pull finances together to make
sure that we can cover all of our bills, as
we're waiting for people to pay their bills, and you know,
(09:25):
money is going out but not coming in the way
that it should and people are taking a long time
to pay. I think as a small business owner. One
of the biggest things that you're always chasing checks from people.
You're always trying to chase down payments. And what she
was saying was make sure that you're actually going in person,
you know, talk to who your representatives know who that
person is. That way they know what your business has
going on, what your special needs are for your business,
(09:49):
so that they can help cater to you, like the
things that you need.
Speaker 2 (09:53):
So Dan, you look like you wanted to say something
about this.
Speaker 6 (09:56):
No, sorry, I'm actually reaching out to meno.
Speaker 2 (09:58):
Okay, I was like, what happened? He just went on
his phone.
Speaker 1 (10:01):
So yeah, so luck, I said previously, a lot of
people are wrapping up this year already, like in the
mindset of I need a break, I'm burnch out on
my vacation. At the same time, I'm trying to make
sure that I close out this year setting up for
next year to be smoother for me. But for everybody
who's a small business owner out there, you know how
hard it is sometimes when all these unexpected things are happening.
(10:24):
People aren't paying their bills on time, but you have
bills that you need to pay, and so it's a
trickle down effect. But if you have a good relationship
with your bank, then that would be a good way
to and for me personally, I do like if I
need to do something, I can call them, they know me,
I can go in there and they handle everything for
me pretty quickly, because I do try to go in
in person. A lot of times, I think as we're
handling things digitally and online and over the phone, people
(10:47):
aren't going in to have that face to face time
where sometimes that personal experience can be a lot more helpful.
Speaker 2 (10:53):
So that was just what I was dealing with yesterday.
Speaker 1 (10:55):
So thank you Anita for that advice to make sure
that I handle my business the way that I know
as we're getting ready.
Speaker 2 (11:01):
For the new year.
Speaker 1 (11:02):
Now, speaking of which, we also talked about this at
dinner last night. Tell us a Secret. This is the
part of the show that tends to go viral because
you guys are absolutely wild. But like we were saying,
this is a good way to lift those burdens off yourself.
Maybe there's some things that you've done that you've never
told anybody, and it's burning a hole in your chest
(11:24):
and you really want to be able to get it
out there in the atmosphere so it can dissipate, and
you can feel like, Okay, I put it out there,
I feel better and now I can move on. Tell
Us a Secret is what this segment is called. We're
not gonna judge you. You get to remain anonymous. Eight hundred
two nine two fifty one fifty. Now I can't tell
you what's gonna happen once we put this online and
people weigh in on it. That's a whole nother story.
(11:46):
But I can tell you right now, I'm not gonna
judge you. Eight hundred two nine fifty one fifty. Tell
us a Secret.
Speaker 2 (11:50):
It's way up with Angela.
Speaker 4 (11:51):
Yee ye. This is a.
Speaker 2 (11:54):
Judgment free zone.
Speaker 4 (11:55):
Tell us a.
Speaker 2 (11:56):
Secret, just way out, way up at Angela. Ye.
Speaker 1 (12:01):
And it's time for one of your favorite segments that
you hate to love is tell us a Secret. Eight
hundred two nine two fifty one fifty, No judgment, You
remain anonymous eight hundred two ninety two fifty one fifty
anonymous caller.
Speaker 2 (12:12):
How are you?
Speaker 10 (12:14):
I'm going well?
Speaker 7 (12:14):
How are you?
Speaker 2 (12:15):
I'm good? Thank you? You want to tell us a secret?
Speaker 10 (12:18):
Yeah? Me and my wife were talking about having the
three soon, but she goes to trust too many people,
so over a period of time, she finally got somebody
for me, and.
Speaker 2 (12:29):
Huh, okay, what I don't believe that, I swear to God.
Speaker 1 (12:34):
So your wife said, let's have a threesome with my sister.
Speaker 10 (12:39):
Yeah, somebody she could trust.
Speaker 2 (12:41):
And you agreed to that.
Speaker 10 (12:43):
Of course, I'm a man.
Speaker 2 (12:44):
Oh my gosh. And so tell me how it went, Like,
what was the plan?
Speaker 10 (12:50):
Well, we we talked about it. It's been on and
off for a three years and and Vanity, you know,
we were going through some hard times. And I guess too,
she spike up our life. You know. I said, like
a little bit, people will mention me some names. We
threw some names out there, and then she was a
little bit. Now, I don't think none of those people
would have worked for me. So I was like, okay,
(13:11):
well who you figure? And I said, well, what you know,
I'm just playing around. Just threw her sister's name, said
you know what, I don't know. She thought about it.
She said, well I'm going to ask her, and our
sister was all for it.
Speaker 2 (13:22):
Oh my gosh. The fact that you threw her sister's.
Speaker 1 (13:25):
Name out there is wild too, because it's not even funny.
Speaker 2 (13:28):
How is it when you guys, see the sister like nothing.
Speaker 10 (13:32):
We've grown adults. We handled it like we still we're
still fam and it was more than one time. I
can tell you that he's done it a few times.
Speaker 1 (13:39):
All right, Well, thank you for sharing, I guess, and
thank her for sharing.
Speaker 10 (13:44):
Well, yeah, I'm gonna hear this one later, but that's
all good.
Speaker 2 (13:48):
All right, thank you?
Speaker 10 (13:50):
Cool?
Speaker 2 (13:50):
Hey Naimis Color, how are you?
Speaker 13 (13:53):
Hi?
Speaker 8 (13:53):
I'm great. How are you?
Speaker 2 (13:54):
I'm good? Thank you? You want to tell us a secret?
Speaker 14 (13:57):
Yes, my secret is said. I've been mad for three
year and I'm actually a Lisban. I'd rather be with
a woman. My husband have no idea that I'm really
obsessed with women. I only married him for his money.
But I want to walk to twenty twenty four happy
and living my best life and being free and dealing
with whoever I feel makes me happy.
Speaker 1 (14:19):
Okay, And I'm sure you want him to be happy too,
because he probably could tell you're not that into him.
Speaker 14 (14:23):
Yeah, he's believing that it's my past trauma and the secret.
Speaker 2 (14:28):
Are you gonna tell him that? Are you just gonna
break up with him to believe?
Speaker 14 (14:31):
So I'm going to tell him because it's my first
time calling in and it went straight through. So I
think it's meant for me to tell this is God's
way of telling me to confess my sins.
Speaker 1 (14:42):
Okay, yeah, definitely let him know. I mean he might
be very supportive. It might be hard for him at first,
but he might be like, you know what, I can't
accept that, like because you can't help how you feel.
Speaker 2 (14:54):
Absolutely.
Speaker 1 (14:55):
The only part, the only part he may you may
want to leave out is that you married him for money.
Oh yeah, all right, thank you so much for calling.
Speaker 2 (15:02):
Good luck. Let's live your best life baby.
Speaker 1 (15:06):
All right, Well, that was tell us a secret, and
y'all really did tell us some secrets today. And when
we come back, we have yet we'll talk about Nicki Minaj.
She was on with Kelly and Mark and we'll tell
you what she had to say about her favorite collapse
and some other things as well, and what Little Wayne
had to say about Nicki in another interview.
Speaker 2 (15:23):
It's way up with Angela Yee yea t is next.
Speaker 5 (15:27):
Off this pot, Let's get it. Angela's feeling that yee
te come and get the tea.
Speaker 1 (15:32):
It's way yup with Angela, yee Angela yee and man no, it's.
Speaker 4 (15:35):
Ye it's time for tell us a secret.
Speaker 2 (15:38):
No it's not. We already did that.
Speaker 4 (15:40):
We got too.
Speaker 2 (15:45):
Thanks for showing up though, you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (15:47):
Right before the holidays, We're gonna talk about this more.
Speaker 2 (15:50):
But we had a gift for you.
Speaker 1 (15:51):
Robinson, who owns a colectic Wines and Liquors in Brooklyn
and best Die brought us some presents. All right, Well
let's get into some yeats. Speaking of presence, Nicki Minaj
is number one on Billboard Gospel with the song Blessings,
So congratulations to her raised Lord, Yes indeed, and not
only that. You know, she talked about some of her
(16:11):
favorite collaborations on Pink Friday too. She was on with
Live with Kelly and Mark and here's what she said.
Speaker 15 (16:19):
Well, of course, Drake, I always love working with him again,
it just makes me it's so nostalgic. Little Ouzie always
comes through for me.
Speaker 12 (16:26):
He were an adult song.
Speaker 15 (16:27):
But Jake Cole also, he did such a really thought
provoking verse on this album. Everyone everybody on a Little Wayne.
The person who signs me Lil Wayne. He's on this
album I love all the time.
Speaker 1 (16:40):
And speaking of Little Wayne, Little Wayne recently did an
interview with Complex, Right, and who do you think is
the greatest rapper ever signed to Young Money?
Speaker 2 (16:47):
If you had to answer that, Drake, Well, here's what
he said.
Speaker 4 (16:51):
Your goat Young Money artists look him at that.
Speaker 3 (16:54):
I was saying, Nikko Nikki too.
Speaker 1 (16:58):
See it would be Drake or Nikki, but has two
huge That's a hard debate.
Speaker 13 (17:03):
I mean, listen, both both of them became bigger than him.
Speaker 4 (17:07):
You dig, Yeah, Drake became bigger than.
Speaker 2 (17:10):
A way because people would say Wayne changed.
Speaker 4 (17:13):
Wayne, Wayne is the goat.
Speaker 2 (17:15):
It's just you know, and it's such a weird word.
Speaker 1 (17:17):
Like it's hard to say because he has a lot
of catalog.
Speaker 4 (17:21):
He has the catalog. But I'm just saying, like.
Speaker 2 (17:23):
And he did some game changing things, you know, little way.
Speaker 4 (17:27):
Right now, Drake is the biggest start right now.
Speaker 1 (17:29):
At this moment, in this moment then yeah, but Nikki
right now is probably topping everybody truthfully what I'm saying
if you see her breaking all these records all right now.
Dwight Howard is maintaining that his one night stand with
a male sexual assault accuser was consensual. He's saying this
is nothing more than a class classic case of unrequited love.
Speaker 4 (17:48):
Basically say he slept with that man.
Speaker 1 (17:50):
And the only reason he's being accused of sexual assault
is because he's saying that. You know, he just wasn't
trying to continue a relationship with that but.
Speaker 4 (17:57):
It was consensual. Slept with that man.
Speaker 1 (17:59):
Consensual, yes, his attorney said, Well, Howard remained cordial and
responded to mister Harper's text messages and call sporadically at first.
Mister Harper continued to press for a relationship, and mister
Howard has no interest in such a relationship.
Speaker 4 (18:12):
He just wanted to hit it.
Speaker 2 (18:13):
Yeah, it happens.
Speaker 4 (18:14):
It happens.
Speaker 1 (18:15):
It happens, but we don't know, you know, it's still
everything is alleged, so we don't know what's true and
what's not. Okay, all right, Kodak Black. His lawyers are
asking for the judge to put him in a drug
treatment program and not in jail. According to reports, the
lawyers are saying that he became addicted to percocet and
oxycoto while he was sitting in prison in twenty twenty
(18:37):
and never got appropriate treatment, So now they want him
to be able to get that treatment, and they believe
that he does not belong in jail, but it looks
like he's going to at least be in jail until Christmas.
After Christmas, according to the judge, they were saying that
he is a danger to the community.
Speaker 2 (18:53):
He won't be home for Christmas.
Speaker 1 (18:54):
They said, if he let him out today to go
out to Arizona, we don't know what's going to happen.
Speaker 4 (18:59):
That's what they always say. He's a danger to community.
Like what is he gonna do?
Speaker 2 (19:04):
Uh, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (19:05):
It feels like he's more of a danger to himself,
you know, than anybody else. All right, well that is
your Uh yet you came in here in storm today.
Speaker 4 (19:16):
This is what's what's what's today? What that means is
our last day until the new year.
Speaker 1 (19:23):
Let me tell you said that we're working longer than
pretty much everybody.
Speaker 2 (19:25):
We're like the only ones that on the.
Speaker 4 (19:27):
Everybody else's everybody's off.
Speaker 1 (19:29):
But we are here working and celebrating and celebrating, and
we're about to have a celebration.
Speaker 2 (19:34):
I'm so glad you finally got here. Under the radar.
It's coming up next.
Speaker 1 (19:37):
These are the stories that are not necessarily in the headlines,
and they're flying under the radar. And one of these
is so shocking. This G league basketball player, you saw
what happened. Uh, he and his I guess girlfriend, ex
girlfriend whatever, ended up killing a woman and confessing. Will
tell you what it's all about. It's way up with
angela ye under the radars.
Speaker 5 (19:56):
Next this in the news that relates to you, these
stories flying under the radar, and shout out.
Speaker 1 (20:02):
To that classic Frank Ocean playing Baya faya. All right, well,
it's way up at angela ye. Manos finally here and
he turns all the way up. Yeah, let's go under
the radar now. I was very concern and I actually
called Mano about this. A federal judge in New York
has ordered that the names of dozens of Jeffrey Epstein's
alleged victims and associates being made public in twenty twenty four.
Speaker 2 (20:24):
I said, may, you're not enough documents.
Speaker 4 (20:26):
I don't have enough money to be in a document.
Speaker 1 (20:27):
Stop playing all right, so I know and listen to
be clear. And I saw people talking about this too.
A lot of this would just be when they name people,
just people in passing. It doesn't mean that because you're
named or you had any type of association that you
did anything.
Speaker 4 (20:42):
Was anybody going to be on some charges.
Speaker 2 (20:44):
I don't know yet. I guess we'll see, you know.
Speaker 1 (20:46):
And some of the victims are going to remain unnamed though,
due to the sensitive nature of the crimes and sexual
nature abuse of miners, according to the order. But many
of the alleged victims gave public interviews and have already
been identified by the media, while others did not raise
an objection to the unsealing of documents. So for those people,
for those victims also, it will be okay for their
(21:07):
names to continue to be revealed.
Speaker 4 (21:09):
Okay, all right, So a lot happened in there, a lot,
you know.
Speaker 1 (21:13):
He was indicted in twenty nineteen on federal charges of
operating a sex trafficking ring in which he allegedly sexually
abused dozens of underage girls. And he did die by
suicide in jail while away. Yeah, everybody in the room
who said so?
Speaker 16 (21:26):
They all right?
Speaker 1 (21:28):
NBA G League ger Chance Comanche has confessed to murdering
a woman in Vegas? What what league? G League? That's
in basketball? It used to be the D League now
it's the G League.
Speaker 2 (21:40):
But it's you know, like the minor league. All right,
So he is.
Speaker 1 (21:44):
He did confess to murdering a woman in Vegas with
his ex girlfriend. It feels like they're both kind of
telling each other, but they have text messages and all
kinds of things. Chance is twenty seven years old. He
confessed that he was helping his ex girlfriend, Sakari Harndon,
who is nineteen years old, and the murder of Marianna
Rogers on December sixth. Okay, he was in between team
(22:06):
activities and he played for the Stockton Kings, which is
the G League affiliate of the Sacramento Kings. Apparently, the
two women both were working as prostitutes in the Vegas area.
They got into an argument over a rolex. The woman, Marianna,
who was murdered, threatened to smoke Harndon if she didn't
give her the watch, and that's when Camante and his
(22:27):
girlfriend Harndon decided to kill Rogers. They first tried to
hire a hitman for three thousand dollars. That didn't work out.
Then they discussed several different ways to commit the murder,
including poisoning, strangulation, and a gun. There was a group message,
all right that this ballplayer Chance had with the woman
Harndon and a third party where he said I can
(22:49):
snap her neck or just strangle the bee.
Speaker 4 (22:52):
Oh my god, he is, Oh yeah.
Speaker 1 (22:55):
Would And then the other thing that happened was that
Harndon and Rogers the two women and got into an
altercation after she allegedly implicated Roger's boyfriend in a double
murder in California, which led to the man's arrest.
Speaker 2 (23:07):
And so.
Speaker 1 (23:09):
Now he has confessed, and I believe she's saying she
didn't really know anything about it. But they he strangled
her with the HDMI cord. Oh yeah, wow, he strangled
her with an HDMI cord.
Speaker 4 (23:21):
So and then was it was it still holked up
to the TV.
Speaker 2 (23:23):
No, I don't think.
Speaker 1 (23:26):
No, I mean, it's really really sad this would happened.
They said he choked it for ten seconds and then
stopped when he heard her struggling to breathe. They actually
had hired her, you know, because she was a prostitute.
Speaker 2 (23:36):
And she.
Speaker 1 (23:38):
Yeah, yeah, really bad, deadly All right, Well that is
you're under the radar. And you know we got the
way it mixed at the top of the hour plus
it is a wealth Wednesday, and George, I can't even
say this right Chimpong Ikam punk At Chimpong. Okay, George
Achimpong is going to be joining us. He is the
co founder of the Melanin Money podcast, and he also
(23:58):
had his first annual award show earlier this month.
Speaker 2 (24:01):
It's way you put Angela Yee.
Speaker 9 (24:04):
She's like the like they Angela Jean, like they Angela Jee.
Speaker 5 (24:08):
She's spilling it all.
Speaker 3 (24:09):
This is YEATI way.
Speaker 1 (24:13):
It's way you put Angela Yee. I'm angela yea. Amna
is here, no Mayna right on to it is my
last Yeat.
Speaker 2 (24:20):
Of the year.
Speaker 1 (24:21):
Yeah, and let's talk all about music, okay, all right.
Rihanna is going to be touring again after putting out
some new music.
Speaker 2 (24:28):
Here's what she had to say. I want to do
tour when there's new music.
Speaker 11 (24:33):
Right, we already know what that's going to be with
the songs that I performed my last tour that was
a long time ago. I feel like it's only fair
that my fans get what they've been with no, which
is new music, and after that, let's just like blow
everything up.
Speaker 2 (24:47):
All right.
Speaker 1 (24:48):
That was with entertainment tonight, and I know people are
so excited for some new Rihanna, Playboy Cardi revealed that
he has a daughter as well.
Speaker 2 (24:56):
On his new song Hood by Air. He's now a
father of two. And here is what he said.
Speaker 3 (25:01):
It was four when a headline I had at twenty.
Speaker 4 (25:08):
Con finally to sleep.
Speaker 1 (25:10):
So I guess it's just happened just a few months
ago because he just turned twenty seven on September thirteen.
Speaker 4 (25:16):
You got three kids two too?
Speaker 1 (25:18):
Yeah, all right now, Playboy Cardi fans also have been
selling grass that was seen in the music video for
twenty twenty four on eBay. The price started at twenty
seven dollars. The highest bid is now over ten thousand dollars.
Speaker 4 (25:33):
Grass from what his music.
Speaker 2 (25:35):
Video, as you can see, that's really the grass, all right. Ti.
Speaker 1 (25:41):
First of all, Ti and Tiny, their daughter heires is
so cute, and the way that they've been getting her
vocal training, she's been performing.
Speaker 7 (25:48):
You know.
Speaker 1 (25:48):
Ti posted that DJ Greg Street played her song for
the first time ever on the radio, which was super cute.
Speaker 2 (25:54):
In Atlanta.
Speaker 1 (25:55):
Well, in addition to that, she actually performed the national
anthem and there were some mic issues. This was at
the USC and Alabama state basketball game, but she still
continued on.
Speaker 2 (26:06):
Listen to this. She can say yeah, I'm.
Speaker 13 (26:24):
Not mad at it looking at it, We're looking at
a top notch.
Speaker 1 (26:29):
She's only seven and she was carrying that, so I
love it. I love to see her doing that is
super cute. And ice Cube has gotten over a billion
a billion listen streams on Spotify.
Speaker 2 (26:42):
This is his first song that's hit over billion. You
know what song it is?
Speaker 1 (26:46):
Ice Cube? What song would it be? They got over
a billion streams?
Speaker 2 (26:49):
It was a good day, good day. Yeah, I know
what you meant.
Speaker 1 (26:53):
Today is a nice day, all right, And let's get
into this. Rolling Stone has put out their list of
the fifteen best rap songs of twenty twenty three. What
do you think made that list? If you had to guess,
we went over it in here already now. According to
their Ride Up Drake, Sexy Red and Little YACHTI made
(27:16):
rap sound fun. And then there's other artists that also
took it to a sonically different level, a new territory.
Ken Carson and Baby Keem pushed us into new sonic territory.
All right, South number fifteen Jealousy Cardi being offset.
Speaker 4 (27:32):
But that's not what that says. That's what's so crazy.
Speaker 2 (27:34):
But this is not from Rolling Stone. They Okay, they
did their own thing here.
Speaker 1 (27:39):
Number fourteen Patty Kate, Quavo featuring Takeoff thirteen, Agora Hills,

I just saw her in Detroit at the Big Show. Sez,
(28:41):

Speaker 2 (28:43):
Red at number one.
Speaker 1 (28:44):
It is so nice to have my name and the

Speaker 2 (29:08):
To you for that. All right.
Speaker 1 (29:09):
Now, when we come back, we have asked ye any
questions that you have. This is the last Askee of
the year, so let's get it in. But in the meantime,
this was the number eleven song on the list. Gunna
if you mean its way up?
Speaker 5 (29:21):
Everybody with its relationship or career advice, Angela's dropping facts.
Speaker 2 (29:27):
As what's up?
Speaker 1 (29:28):
Its way up with Angela Yee, I'm Angela Yee. And
the award winning advice givern Maino is here winning. Let's
not forget that, all right, and it's time for you
guys to ask anything you want.
Speaker 2 (29:38):
We're here to help. We got Rose on the.
Speaker 9 (29:40):
List, and I have this cousin. You know we don't
get along. You know we're going to be at the
same Christmas dinner. And I heard recently that she tried
to sleep with my boyfriend.
Speaker 4 (29:55):
Oh yes, that no, I don't do that.
Speaker 2 (30:01):
Where did you hear that from like, how do you
know that that's true?
Speaker 9 (30:04):
Because my boyfriend told me it's true.
Speaker 4 (30:06):
It's true, so you know what you should do. Don't
don't beat her up.
Speaker 13 (30:10):
You know what you should do about that, though, I'm
gonna tell you that the best way to deal with
that and what's not sleep with her boyfriend.
Speaker 1 (30:16):
Oh my gosh, Oh my gosh, that's the worst boyfriend
makes And tell me what your boyfriend said happened. I
just want to hear how this went down.
Speaker 17 (30:28):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (30:29):
He put me.
Speaker 9 (30:29):
Five one day and he was like, I just wanted
to let you know before you find out from someone else.
So I don't know what the hell was going on there,
but your cousin trying to hook to me, hit on me,
and you know she was touching on him and all that.
But he didn't He didn't go into full detail because
he said that he didn't want to make it too bad.
Speaker 8 (30:51):
But I don't know.
Speaker 4 (30:53):
You should turn up on her for real, That's what
I'm saying, send him some picks.
Speaker 1 (31:00):
Wow, is your is your boyfriend going to be with you?
What I would do if I was. Does the rest
of the family know about this yet?
Speaker 9 (31:09):
They do not? From what I know.
Speaker 3 (31:14):
That was me.
Speaker 2 (31:14):
I might have to bring it up in front of everybody, right.
Speaker 9 (31:19):
It's going to be given perry.
Speaker 1 (31:21):
But you know, I don't know about making the rest
of the family awkward over a situation that's between the
two of you.
Speaker 2 (31:27):
I don't know what your family is like.
Speaker 9 (31:30):
I'm thinking about not going.
Speaker 1 (31:33):
But I also kind of feel like, do you want
to miss out on family time with everybody? You know
what I would do, I would tell people ahead of time,
in advance. I would be like, look, I want to come.
I'm not comfortable because my cousin tried to such and
such try to sleep with my boyfriend, and the whole
family is going to know by the time you get there.
Speaker 4 (31:49):
Oh, she could just take her boyfriend.
Speaker 2 (31:54):
And maybe they'll be like, she shouldn't be here. I
don't know.
Speaker 1 (31:57):
I don't know what your family is like, but I
probably would in advance tell them like, this is why
I'm uncomfortable, so people know and it's not a shock
if something does go down, Yeah.
Speaker 9 (32:08):
Well I think I'm gonna do that because someone's going
to be taken out of Christmas dinner, and that way.
Speaker 1 (32:14):
Everybody could be on alert and maybe somebody can even
mediate the situation, and they can, you know, tell her
like an intervention.
Speaker 13 (32:21):
You don't like the advice that I gave you though,
like you do, you can just go to his house
and just take pictures in there and sit like.
Speaker 1 (32:34):
Oh shit, and now what's gonna happen with her boyfriend
when he you know what I'm saying, Yeah, No, we're not,
we're not.
Speaker 2 (32:40):
We're not messing up our relationship.
Speaker 4 (32:43):
Are y'all getting married?
Speaker 9 (32:46):
There's no fer.
Speaker 2 (32:49):
Cut it out?
Speaker 1 (32:50):
But anyway, listen, you're not going to mess up your relationship.
But what you can do is let the family know.
They will undoubtedly be like, girl, I can't believe she
did that. It'll be awkward, embarrassing for her. Maybe they'll
do an intervention. But at least everybody's on alert if
something go down.
Speaker 2 (33:05):
They know why, right, Yeah, for sure.
Speaker 9 (33:08):
So I think I'll just I'll talk to them probably
the day before the day.
Speaker 1 (33:12):
And tell them to be like I was, I'm hesitant
to come. I don't even know, and they're gonna be like, no, no,
you need to be here.
Speaker 2 (33:18):
You know what.
Speaker 1 (33:18):
Maybe they'll disinvite her, or maybe you know, there's gonna
be a whole like gathering of like, why would you
do that?
Speaker 2 (33:25):
Right?
Speaker 9 (33:26):
Advice is amazing. I think I'm definitely going to talk
to them, but I'm definitely gonna put hands and feet
on this woman.
Speaker 2 (33:34):
Yeah. Well, the last thing I want to say is
you better win? Okay, yeah, trust me, I will think.
Speaker 9 (33:40):
All right, no problem, thank you?
Speaker 4 (33:44):
All right?
Speaker 2 (33:45):
All right, well that was asked.
Speaker 1 (33:46):
Ye eight hundred two nine fifty one fifties and number
in case you couldn't get through. And when we come back,
it's a Wealth Wednesday and we have the co founder
of the Melani Money podcast and also the CEO and
founder of capital Wise, George Achimpok, joining us.
Speaker 2 (33:59):
It's way up with Angela Yee.
Speaker 4 (34:01):
Had a dream of.
Speaker 13 (34:02):
Wealthy and I don't mind sharing my wealth dog.
Speaker 5 (34:05):
Getting you straight financially, mentally and physically. This is Wealth
Wednesday on way up with Angela Yee.
Speaker 2 (34:11):
What's up this way yet, Angela Yee.
Speaker 1 (34:13):
I'm Angela Yee and I'm here with my Wealth Wednesday
partners Stacy Tisdale.
Speaker 18 (34:17):
Happy Wealth Wednesday everybody, and we have George Archimpond.
Speaker 3 (34:20):
Thank you so much, glad to be here, honor to
be here. Thank you guys for having me.
Speaker 2 (34:24):
You are a big deal.
Speaker 18 (34:25):
You're the co founder of Melon and Money. You're also
the founder of Capitalized capital Wise capital Wise, which is
an financial advisory and investment firm. But you were named
by Forbes as financial advisors to watch in twenty twenty three.
You have all sorts of stuff going on, and I
know you just had your the first annual melonon Money.
Speaker 3 (34:48):
Yes, yes, yes, exciting stuff. Exciting stuff. So now we
just had it.
Speaker 4 (34:52):
It was great.
Speaker 3 (34:53):
Our overall mission as a company is to help one
hundred thousand people of color achieve their first one million
in networth, so we can decrease the wealth cap one
hundred million dollars. How long that's going to take us.
I don't know, ten to fifteen years, but we're committed
to the mission.
Speaker 1 (35:05):
I want to ask you this as we're thinking about
the future as a financial advisor, because I tell people
all the time, you know that you need to get
with the financial advisor.
Speaker 2 (35:13):
My friends will ask me, I'm like, you need a
financial advisor. I don't want to.
Speaker 1 (35:16):
But one thing I want to ask you about is
people are talking about twenty twenty four and so do
we look at this now as a time of great opportunity?
Speaker 2 (35:24):
How do we know what's going to happen.
Speaker 1 (35:25):
There's a lot of people who are really frantic with
concern about will I be able to afford or is
this the perfect time? Is there going to be a crash?
Is it a depression? And I know nobody knows one
hundred percent the answer, but what do you feel like?
What from based on numbers and predictions? What do you
see twenty twenty four as an opportunity.
Speaker 3 (35:44):
For first and foremost, everybody needs to do an audit
of what they're doing currently, right, because I feel like
you can't determine where you want to go if you
don't know where you are. And so once you do
an audit kind of look at your your spending, your
track record, what you've done, that's going to let you
know what available assets or cash flow, you have to
take advantage of opportunities. Right, are gonna see housing prices
actually probably go up a little bit in twenty twenty
four because we expect rates to go down, and so
(36:06):
that's gonna increase the demand.
Speaker 2 (36:08):
And there's a lot of people wanting to buy and
not enough inventory.
Speaker 3 (36:11):
Right inventory right, So that's gonna that's gonna further exacerbate
the demand issue, which I think is gonna drive prices up.
But what we what we can find is that if
you have the opportunity before rates continue to go to
go down, is to go ahead and buy even if
it seems like, man, this is a little bit more
expensive then I normally would would get it's only gonna
go up, right, So as long as it's within your budget,
(36:32):
even if it's slightly close to the top, I would
still advise if getting a house is something that you
want to do, to go ahead.
Speaker 4 (36:37):
And do that.
Speaker 2 (36:38):
It'll be too competitive.
Speaker 3 (36:39):
It'd be way too competitive. Rates are gonna go down,
housing prices are gonna go up. Supplies already still low.
But at the same token, when you do that audit,
if your numbers tell you that regardless of what the
rates are doing, regardless of what the market is doing
right now, maybe buying a house at this moment isn't
for me. You just have to base it off of
where you are right as far as it being a
crash or I mean the stock market and the markets
(36:59):
in general, I would say buying larger rate to stay
up right. So it's like I think that you can't
win the game if you're not in the game. Can
we predict if somebody makes an investment in the stock
market real estate the top of the year, if the
market is going to crash. Everybody thought that in twenty
twenty three, right, And one of my portfolios is up
almost seventy percent in the long term. So it's like,
why would I not be in the game, especially if
(37:19):
I know I'm going to be there for an extended
period of time. You might see ebbs and flows in
twenty twenty four, but if you plan to own for
the foreseeable future, I recommend staying.
Speaker 9 (37:29):
In the game.
Speaker 1 (37:29):
It's a Wealth Wednesday with Stacy Tizzim and we have
the founder of Melon Money, George Atenpong here. For people
who are looking for a financial advisor, what are some
things that they should look for as they're doing their research.
Speaker 3 (37:40):
That's a great question. Number one, are they infiduciary? And
all that means is do they have a legal obligation
to do it in your best interests?
Speaker 14 (37:48):
Right?
Speaker 3 (37:48):
So that's what I am. You can google me, you
can look me up like I have to do it
in my client's best interest because some advisors operate from
a suitability clause, meaning like, well, you had your money
in the bank account's earning point zero one inch, and
now it's in a CD and it's earning two percent.
So technically that puts you in a better situation than
it was before, but not the best outcome, Right, So
asking are they producer is the first thing, and you
(38:10):
can verify this. You can look up look their name
upon the SEC website and all that kind of stuff.
Number Two, you want to ask them situational based questions
to see how they respond. Right If they give you
cookie cutter answers like only invest in s and P
five hundred, when you know that you've seen other ways
to invest and get higher yields, it's like, okay, well,
I understand that that's something that I could do if
I didn't have an advisor, But what would you do
(38:32):
as my advisor? They can't give you an answer beyond
what you can google, then I'll let you know that
they're probably not either they don't know what they're talking about,
or they're gonna just put you in a cookie cutter solution. Exactly.
Speaker 18 (38:41):
This guy's an investment portfolio. He's outpaced Warren Buffett. I mean,
that's why he's getting all this attention Forbes and everything.
You are the real the real deal is always Yeah,
a lot.
Speaker 3 (38:52):
A lot of this, especially the older pass. Like three years,
it's been it's been interesting. Yeah, my clients, My clients
could could sue me if they wanted, like if I
gave them ill gotten advice and they lost money or
something like that, Like as a fiduciary, they would have
the right to suit me. And twelve years, I've never
had a negative complaint, So I'm grateful.
Speaker 2 (39:07):
All right.
Speaker 1 (39:08):
We have more with George Achimpun and Stacey Tisdale for
Wealth Wednesday. We're talking about Melon and Money and we're
talking about different ways that you can invest but also
find the right financial advisor.
Speaker 2 (39:17):
We have more when we come back. It's way up
with Angela Yee.
Speaker 3 (39:20):
I kind a dream of.
Speaker 18 (39:21):
Wealthy and I don't mind sharing my wealth dog.
Speaker 5 (39:24):
Get you straight financially, mentally and physically. This is Wealth
Wednesday on Way Up with Angela Yee.
Speaker 2 (39:30):
What's up? Its way up with Angela Yee.
Speaker 1 (39:32):
I'm Angela Yee and my partner in Wealth Wednesday, Stacy
Tisdale is here and we have the co founder of
Melon and Money and the CEO and founder of capital Wise,
which is a financial and investment advisory firm joining us
George Atchimpong.
Speaker 2 (39:45):
Let's just say somebody has some money. People do this
to me all the time.
Speaker 1 (39:48):
They'll be like, oh, you know, I saved up one
hundred thousand dollars and I want to do something with it?
Speaker 2 (39:52):
What should I do? And I'm like, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (39:55):
But if somebody came to you and said that, what
are some different suggestions.
Speaker 3 (39:59):
Yeah, I'll give you, I would say my bread and
butter framework that I tell people. So the first thing
I want to do is like, I want to define
what freedom looks like for them, because investing doesn't matter,
save you money on taxes doesn't matter. What matters is
somewhere in your mind you've identify an ideal lifestyle that
you want. So there's a number we can put to that. Right,
if we actually sat down, well, how many trips do
you want to take a year? Where do you want
to go? What kind of car do you want to drive?
(40:19):
We could back into a number and that allows us
to figure out your freedom number. Once we figure out
your freedom number, and then when do you want to
hit that number? That would then kind of narrow open
up the guardrails on the types of investments. That makes sense, right,
So what I typically, my tried and true strategy is this,
I look at the stock market as my bank account
alternative for my non essential spending. What I mean by
that is for any money that I don't need for
(40:40):
day to day living or short or immediate mediate expenses,
most of my money's going to stock market. Why because
if you put it in the right type of account,
a brokerage account, you can actually borrow against the value
of that account and then go use that to go
by cash flow producing assets like real estate. Right. And
then if you're still building up to your freedom number
and you don't need that cash flow live because you're
still working, you take that cash flow, you reinvest it
(41:03):
back into the portfolio. So now you're able to essentially
triple right the timeline to be able to being able
to build wealth.
Speaker 1 (41:10):
It's a Wealthy Wednesday with Stacy Tizzil and we have
the founder of Melon Money, George Achenpong here.
Speaker 4 (41:14):
But tell us how you bet Orange Buffett, I gotta
get this stick.
Speaker 3 (41:17):
It's actually not that hard. You'll ready for this the
million dollar strategy. Okay, So I call it the Burger
King investment strategy. So McDonald's puts thousands of hundreds of thousands,
if not millions of dollars in determining where they want
to put their next location. Right, all burg King does
is they put it across the street from McDonald's. So
I mean by that from an investing standpoint, is the
biggest companies in the world, like you know Vanguard black Rock,
(41:38):
they have analysts who put in tons of research to
figure out how to put these dts together lest index fonds,
and that's just the basket of companies.
Speaker 10 (41:45):
Right.
Speaker 3 (41:45):
So the way I like to explain it is if
you go to a multipopular mall in New York.
Speaker 2 (41:49):
Sure Hills Mall is my favorite.
Speaker 3 (41:51):
There's a lot of stores in short Head, Yes, yes,
So if one of those stores closed down, or two
of those stores, or four of those stores closed down,
is the whole mall gonna close down? That's how index
fund or ETF works, right, If one or two, or
three or four of the companies don't perform, the index
fund is designed to be so diversified with five hundred
companies since the s and P five hundred to where
it's still going to be able to perform decently. So
(42:11):
where one buffer, somebody might tell you to just invest
in an index fund. That's cool, you'll get your ten
eleven percent. What I like to do is look inside
of it and it's like, okay, well, of all these five
hundred companies, what are the top five to ten. So
then I'll have about fifty percent of my portfolio owning
the index fund for diversity and for diversification, and then
for the other fifty percent, I'm picking the top winners,
the Apples, the Microsoft's, the Googles, the Teslas. And so
(42:35):
now what happens is I'm what you would call overweight
in these really really well performing companies, and so that
helps me get an outsize return. And all that means
is it helps me beat the market or beat warm
buff and I've been doing that for the past five
to six years.
Speaker 18 (42:48):
You're writing your own rules, and I know you have presents,
holiday presents. You put together a little bundle for.
Speaker 3 (42:54):
Us, Yes, yes, yes, absolutely, So I wanted to make
sure that people, could, you know, are the year off, right,
So I wanted to put together is a few free resources.
Absolutely free. One is a personal budgeting guide, right, so
that if you're trying to create that cash flow plan
for twenty twenty four. You want to save more, you
want to invest more. Now we'll have this resource where
(43:15):
you can really evaluate your expenses to determine where your
money's going to go. I created the same thing for
the business as well. It's a business forecasting blueprint. So
everybody says, I want to make one hundred thousand or
two hundred thousand, All right, well what's the plan, right?
What are your expenses where you think the revenue is
gonna come from. So I created a whole blueprint that
people can leverage to kind of forecast out their business revenue.
And I added a dividend stock investing guide. So my
(43:36):
top twenty five recommendations on dividend.
Speaker 16 (43:39):
