Brian Bogusevic, former Astros outfielder and Space City Home Network analyst, joins Next Up after the Astros avoided the series sweep by shutting out the Philadelphia Phillies 10-0 on Wednesday. The Astros had lost six of their previous eight games, and the offense was struggling to maintain consistency at the plate. However, Yordan Alvarez provided a spark, smacking three home runs for his third career three-homer game, and pitching continued to hold steady as Spencer Arrighetti struck out 11 batters and had a no-hitter through seven innings. "The bats could be better," but "the pitching has carried such a heavy load," Bogusevic said. Chas McCormick also recorded a home run Wednesday in his hometown; however, he was optioned to Triple-A Sugar Land after the game. McCormick's offensive slump "needs to be fixed by getting regular at bats." The move clears up space for veteran outfielder Jason Heyward, whom the Astros are expected to add to their active roster ahead of a four-game series against the Kansas City Royals. Heyward is a "no risk, low cost, marginal upgrade," especially in matchups against right-handed pitchers.
