Speaker 1 (00:00):
Now here's a highlight from Coast to Coast am on iHeartRadio.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
And welcome back, George Nor with you. Patty Negrey back
with a psychic medium and a good witch. She's best
known for her recurring role in the show Ghost Adventures.
She's a best selling author and expert in old world magic.
She's got a book coming out called Doll Craft, A
Witch's Guide to puppet Magic and Haunted Dolls that's coming
out in the next year.

Speaker 3 (00:26):
Patty, it is I'm so excited.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
Good for you.

Speaker 3 (00:30):
Yeah, I'm always it's because it's the publisher is Llewellen
and I was like bred and raised on Llewellyn books
from the time I was really young and it was
like my path into the magical world. So that they're
my publisher, I'm really honored.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
Day Halloween time. Are you excited about that?

Speaker 3 (00:49):
I am so excited. I'm living on airplanes and on
the other side of the veil, and I'm living more
on the seance world than that. And it's a good
one this year.

Speaker 2 (00:59):
George, Well, there's nothing like it. How come Halloween is
so tight in the ghosts and scury.

Speaker 3 (01:06):
Things, because it truly is that the veil is thinnist
in the entire year. The veil between our world and
the other worlds where ghosts live and spirits and magical
beasts and cryptids is thinnest. It's the Pagan new Year.
Actually it's called Soo and samhai n and it is
time to celebrate the ancestors because the veil is so thin.

(01:29):
So that's why actually Halloween people dress up, wear masks,
put lanterns out to frighten the bad spirits, but the
magical world, just like diadlos Mertos in the Latin culture,
it's time to celebrate our ancestors and the dead. And
when you hold seances or there's a lot more activity

(01:51):
like I'm doing more haunted health clearings, more mediumship because
they're just active.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
Well, they sure are. The signs should have people look
for what a spirit is trying to communicate with them,
and especially during Halloween.

Speaker 3 (02:06):
Halloween, things that just seem a little bit odd. It
could be in your home noises and sounds and yes
we know houses make apartments make sounds on their own,
but things like flickering lights, they are energy. We are energy,
and spirits are getting really good at electronics. All of

(02:27):
a sudden your computer's being weird or your phone's being weird. Yes,
it could be a bug or something, but spirits. I literally,
not too terribly long ago, got a call on my
cell phone from my husband's best friend who had been
dead five years, his bandmate. I'm like, huh, I said,
call from David. I'm like that's odd and I thought, oh,
maybe it was his wife. Nope, there was nobody there,

(02:50):
called it back and it had been disconnected for five years.
So look for oddities that were because we are energy
ghosts or energy. So again, electricity is a great conduit.
That's why you look at the flickering lights and haunted house.
But weird sounds, weird noises, even changes in emotions because

(03:10):
if it's a negative spirit, I personally think most spirits
are good, just like most people are good. You go
to the mall, you go to a ball game, people
are happy and good. Yes, there's the serial killer ghosts
and the evil ones, but most are good. But if
you do get something negative, you might notice illness, cranky, arguing,

(03:33):
wanting to not hang out in a room, weird sense,
weird smells, weird dreams. There's a bunch of different signs
and it just feels off. It feels off. You probably
need to do a nice little clearing. You could do
it on your own.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
How can we conjure up good spirits and not the
negative ones?

Speaker 3 (03:55):
Intent is everything. I seriously believe that this is our
realm of existence. They really do have to play by
our rules. If you go, I want to talk to
whatever word you use, good spirits, high vibration spirits. I
want to just talk to my ancestors or my spirit guides.
That's what you're going to get people who you see

(04:16):
people get all weirdly possessed. You know, unless it's somebody
like me doing it on purpose and you know what
you're doing. They've allowed it to happen because most people
just don't know better. You know, unless you have a
severe addiction problem or a severe mental imbalance. We are
in control. People just don't know it. If you want
to conjure up, you want to talk to Grandma, get

(04:36):
a picture of Grandma out, maybe light a candle, tell stories,
or you know, around the campfire in the living room.
It's just like as the Holidays were going into ways
to tell that Grandma is there is like light a candle,
say okay, Grandma make the candle flicker, Make the candle
flame dance, make the flame bigger, it light some incense,

(04:58):
make it. Walk to the right. You can walk to
the left. See things within it. There's lots of things
they will give you.

Speaker 2 (05:06):
Can you protect yourself from negativity?

Speaker 3 (05:09):
You can, and you need to protect yourself from negativity,
whether it's coming from ghosts or just the cranky people
next door. I work with mirrored bubbles because mirror reflects. Again,
if I again, intent is everything energy, energy, and intent
is just as real as anything solid, because solid stuff

(05:30):
isn't solid either, right, seventh grade science is moving little
you know, little atoms and things. But to protect yourself
from both spirit energy or people energy, put yourself in
a little, a little bubble. I like it to be
mirrored on the outside because then if somebody purposely is
sending you bad energy, either like there're an energy vampire

(05:52):
or just sucking the energy out of you, it'll just
they'll kind of see how ugly it is. It'll bounce
right back at them, and you sit there and like
love and happy in your little you know, mirrored egg
going send love, send loves, send love, and you could
even practice this. I like a little movement. I like

(06:13):
to take a breath, do a hand movement. Okay, I
am now surrounded by this. Only good stuff gets in,
nothing bad gets in. And go to the mall and
practice getting this crowded elevator. Now that we're through COVID,
you literally, I snap my finger, I do this thing,
and literally, if you're in an elevator, people aren't sending
you bad juju. They usually will smile at you because

(06:34):
they psychically see this beautiful mirror, and they will stand
back if they can. They'll kind of step back if
they can't step back. If you're really in a crowded elevator,
all of a sudden, your personal space isn't being invaded.
We have these little protection if you want to picture
it like a suit of armor, you want to picture
it like anything else. I just like mirror because again,

(06:56):
if they are shooting bad stuff at you, they can
see how unattractive they look.

Speaker 2 (07:02):
And why do we call you the good witch?

Speaker 3 (07:05):
Because good means well. Number One, I'm the world's biggest
fan of the Wizard of Oz. I like Glinda. I
have a big pink dress and the big wand I'm
still trying to work on showing up in a big bubble.
But good means I only do work high vibration. I
don't like white and black because those have so many

(07:25):
connotations to them. I only do good magic, positive magic,
non manipulative magic, and good means a lot of things.
I'm really good at what I do, whether it's spellcasting
or it's ritual work. Good means a lot of really
positive things.

Speaker 2 (07:41):
Do you have a cackle?

Speaker 3 (07:44):
Of course I have a cackle.

Speaker 2 (07:47):
That.

Speaker 3 (07:48):
Yeah, you gotta have a good cackle. You practice that
from youth.

Speaker 2 (07:53):
What was that great line in the Wizard of Oz?
My pretty it is? Why is Halloween so famous for
paranormal activity?

Speaker 3 (08:05):
I think it is because the veil, is said, paranormal
activity is always there. People see stuff all the time,
and I believe, just in general, the veil is getting
thinner all the time. As we literally move into that
age of Aquarius they talked about in the sixties, they
sang about in the sixties, it's a different time. It
is not our parents and grandparents world of black and

(08:28):
white and right and wrong and solid ground. There's no
solid grounds. It's more ethereal so, more and more paranormal
activity is happening all the time. Not just Halloween, but
heavier Halloween. I'm doing more clearings, more stuff people. That's
why paranormal World's not going to go away. George. You

(08:48):
know TV comes to all the TV. I have my
own network, Paraflex, where it's all paranormal because it's just happening,
and I think paranormal almost the Veliso said, when times
are scary, we know that people usually will go back
to their faith.

Speaker 2 (09:07):
Right.

Speaker 3 (09:08):
Times have always been scary, they always have, but now
we're scary with twenty four to seven bombardment from television
and internet smart watches. So times are scary. So traditionally
people go back to their faith, go back to church,
go back to temple. That's not holding up for everybody.
So that's why they Rais and witchcraft the fastest growing

(09:31):
religion in America. The Rais and New Age and alternative,
alternative belief systems and magical belief systems. But not everybody
even wants that. I don't want religion, I don't want spirituality.
I'm just scared and I want to know if we
get blown up by the Aliens or Russia or China,
I want to know that there's something more than what

(09:51):
I see. On the TV screen every night. Those people
are getting into the paranormal. They want to go on
to go investigation, They want to go to a they
want to talk to somebody, they want to go see
if Bigfoot is real encryptids and then they go or
they get involved in it and then they see it
is real, and then oftentimes they're going to backdoor into

(10:14):
their faith their belief system to try to navigate it.

Speaker 2 (10:17):
What makes a location haunted?

Speaker 3 (10:19):
Patty energy Energy. It could be the energy of the place,
like you go to big big in life, big in death.
I you know, like you go to mining towns out
here in the West, we are not that old. Like
back east there's older. In Europe it's even older, but
in the West we're not that old. You got to

(10:41):
go to Virginia City or Nevada City or a Vulture
city or Montana. That's the first stuff we had here.
So big personalities went out west, whether it was the
men looking for gold or the women trying to find
their way, You're going to get big ghosts, so they're
going to stay more haunted. You know, Bob Banker in

(11:01):
life who worked in this cubicle, He's gonna be Bob
the quiet ghost and not saying he's not hanging out
of the bank, but nobody's gonna notice. But if you
are a place with a big hotel or the prison
or the Asayan asylum or the medical big big personalities,
big life, big tragedy, big joy, big everything it happens,

(11:24):
it's going to feel in the walls, it's going to
feel in the energy. It's going to stay in the objects.

Speaker 2 (11:30):
What do you think of cemeteries. Are they haunted?

Speaker 3 (11:34):
Well, they're different. They're sacred ground. To me, I do
not leave most ghosts or just hanging out at the cemeteries.
They're they're hanging out watching their grandkids grow up. Maybe
they've been reincarnated. Maybe they're doing both at the same time.
Because I don't believe there's time and space on the
other side. I think you could be reincarnated hanging out
the pearly gates and watching your grandkids grow up, all

(11:55):
at the same time. But that's just me. But cemetery
are sacred ground. I love here in Los Angeles of
Hollywood Forever, where they do movies and concerts. It's place
of life. I do see spirits there. They're having a
good time, they're hanging out, but I don't think they're standing,
you know, within six feet of their six foot grave

(12:17):
most of the time. But it is sacred. If you
want to do magic, go get some graveyard dirt. You
got to do it carefully and properly and with respect.
But most sacred and magical places.

Speaker 2 (12:31):
When you deal with the other side, generally, do you
go to them? Do they come to you.

Speaker 3 (12:38):
I have the world's biggest on off switch, so I
go to them because I since I've been doing this
since I was a little kid, I didn't I don't
want to go to the grocery store and see somebody's
dead grandma there. I don't want to be Long Island medium.
I off on. When I was a kid, I would
walk around with my thumb in my fingers, like sucking

(13:00):
your phone, but opposite in your fingers. That was my
off switch. People used to say, why are you this
clothes like that? That was my off switch. I don't
have to do that anymore, but I teach even my
students my mediumship students is like the bigger delineation you
have between on and off, the better they both. You
can go to the grocery store and go to your
day job and be normal and not be that crazy

(13:22):
person on the street corner going oh, I'm seeing spirits
and then when you turn your on switch, it's going
to be that much stronger. Wow. Now I can talk
to everybody. Just like in Witchcraft, you would lay down
your room. This side of the veil is your mundane
life and you do gravity ridden whatever. The other side
is where the magic outs and fairies and cryptids and

(13:45):
ghosts and spirits and guides. So I choose to go
to them.

Speaker 2 (13:50):
Do you celebrate Christmas? Fetti?

Speaker 3 (13:52):
I do celebrate Christmas. I celebrate everything Christmas me as
a pagan, it's more. I call it Yule, but it's
still Christmas. But the Yule log, the pine trees, all
that that Christmas lovingly borrowed really comes from the pagan
holiday Yule.

Speaker 2 (14:09):
The people over trying to scarce these spirits away with
sage and stuff.

Speaker 3 (14:14):
Yeah, a sage is so overused. I know a lot
of even Native American or Indigenous people don't like it
because it's it's it's being overmined and not done well
or overgrown, and people don't know use it right. I
will use sage maybe once a year, maybe every two
years for something really really dark, because I think sage

(14:37):
is is strong. It's too strong. It's it's like it's
like mister clean. If you sage your house, it gets
rid of everything, not just the negative energy or anger
or illness or bad spirits. It gets rid of the
love and the happiness.

Speaker 2 (14:52):
Really do you do? You have to burn it?

Speaker 3 (14:54):
Well, if you're burning it, I will use a few
sage sprays or some mixes. But if you're walking through
all of a sudden, you've got rid of everything, so
you've got to fill it back up. If you are
going to sage, fill it back up with a franken sense.
A mirror as a sandal would something put back in
the love and joy, But you can't. People who I see,

(15:15):
you know, burning sage and then want to do a seance,
It's like you just got rid of all the spirits
and now you want to call them back.

Speaker 2 (15:21):
What you know?

Speaker 3 (15:22):
If you want to burn and you want to smudge,
I'm a much bigger believer in Palo Santo and cedar grass.
There's so many other things that are gentler where you
can get rid of the negative energy or negative spirits,
but not the high vibration spirits.

Speaker 2 (15:38):
Have you ever given a spell on somebody?

Speaker 3 (15:41):
I give spells on people every day with their permission,
of course.

Speaker 2 (15:46):
Yeah, But you don't sound like you do evil stuff.

Speaker 3 (15:48):
No, I don't do evil stuff because you have to.
It is not good or bad heaven or hell. You
have to live in the world that you create. I
believe that wholeheartedly. If I was sitting there sending out
hexes and curses and negative things, I have to live
in that world. Now I live with somebody could hex
me and curse me. If I live in a world

(16:09):
where I'm sending out love and joy and abundance, I
get to live in that world. And I have been
able to get pretty much everything I've wanted in life
with positive magic. So why would I do negative magic? Everybody?
I have no judgments, and I have friends who will
do dark and negative or controlling magic. But all of

(16:30):
a sudden, it seems they get angrier, they get paranoid,
they get ill. Even on Ghost Adventures, the show I've
been doing for nine years, like basically two episodes a
year for nine years. I love working with Zach and
the guys Zach used to love to put me up
against at the bat it's the good witch versus a
bad witch. She's a really nice woman. Her name was

(16:53):
Wendy Binks, and she would do bad magic, and he
always would surprise me. He send me down to the
basement and there she was. He would send me, you know, okay,
and she'd be doing some evil spell around ed Dean's cauldron,
doing dark magic. Or it's like, all of a sudden,
I'm confronted by this little english woman who looks like

(17:14):
she wants to serve me a cup of tea, and no, no,
she wants to kill me because she's tanely a serial killer.
But she's dead, you know. And I'm not gonna go, oh,
it's whatever. But illness gets you. Depression gets you because
you have to live in that world. And if you
can get everything you want from positive magic, why would

(17:35):
you do negative?

Speaker 2 (17:37):
But how many people dabble with the negative.

Speaker 3 (17:41):
I'm sure a lot of people do. It's power trips.
But I've done much better with positive. I will do
I will do defensive magic, you know, I've had you know,
people out there don't like me per se, and I
will certainly stand up for myself and do defensive magic.
But I just want to live in a happier world,

(18:02):
and it seems to work for me least.
