Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
with iHeartRadio.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
Hello everyone, welcome to the Almost Famous podcast. Today we
are breaking down episode five of Gen season. Ben. I
watched three episodes, so like six hours in the past
forty eight hours. I did a little binge. Actually, we
watched the episode that aired two weeks ago in the hospital.

(00:28):
This was the second time that I delivered on a Monday,
and I watched the show in my hospital bed. But
I couldn't like fully grasp, you know, everything, because I
just had delivered a baby eight hours six hours earlier,
so I had to rewatch that episode. And then I watched,
you know, the past two weeks as well.

Speaker 3 (00:46):
So you were watching episodes in bed like before or
after delivery, you know.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
Like six hours after delivery.

Speaker 4 (00:54):
I watched the episode where they did the strip teas interesting.
What'd you think that episode was the one where Sam
and Devin really went at it, or like Sam kind
of became a little bit of a villain for a moment,
and then I saw the trajectory of the villain thing
didn't really go that far. I think that they're done

(01:14):
with villain. I think they're done with creating a villain.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
Right now. I think we're just we're just going to
see where the love goes, you know. I think that
was one of those things were just like.

Speaker 3 (01:23):
A blip kind of except I don't think Sam in
the audience's eyes, has gotten recovered recovered. Yeah, I don't
think he's recovered yet. From that, I don't think he
will kind of viewed as that. Okay, you don't know
if he will. That's really the big things leading up
to this episode, or is the Sam story obviously, Devin
kind of being this character that at first we thought

(01:45):
was just annoying the house. Now we don't know if
he's on in the right or in the wrong.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
I think he's just good now. You know how we
said that, we were like, we were like not defending him.
We're like, you know, I'm not saying I like him.
I kind of like him.

Speaker 3 (01:58):
Now, how do you feel I'm pretty neutral on Devin.
I don't really know yet. I don't think he's the
right one for her. I'll stand up, I'll stand beside that.
I don't think though he is again, like you were saying,
the villain, I don't actually know if there is a
villain this season. As much as there's just some people
that the audience might be like, Ah, I'd rather not

(02:22):
I'd rather not watch them, or I'd rather than not
be with Jen And but I don't think anybody's gonna
leave this show being known as the villain.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
Yeah. I think that this episode really narrowed it down
to the guys that I actually i'll see like having
some sort of a chance kind of.

Speaker 3 (02:41):
I will say that the exit this week was shocking
to me. We'll talk about that later. Dylan, Yeah, it's
a little surprising.

Speaker 2 (02:48):
I like, I would have liked Dylan to stick stick around.

Speaker 3 (02:51):
I like Dylan. He we didn't get see enough of him.
But let's dive into the first scene before we get
into the exits. Obviously, leading up to this episode, which
is episode five, we've kind of said it, the big
characters have been Sam and Devin and Marcus and also Jonathan.
They've all kind of been the ones that have been

(03:12):
shown the most so far. We do have two Rose
ceremonies this episode. That's kind of a shock. But the
first scene is the cocktail party. So we leave last
week where Matthew shows up the very end to kind
of tell Jim that he, you know, wants a second chance.
We don't really know where that relationship was, you know,

(03:34):
three months ago or four months ago, whatever they're saying
the timeline was, but we do know that he's into Jim. However,
the audience, the good old sleuthers out there, have found
that Matthew did a lot of content around his appearance
on The Bachelorette. Oh yeah, kind of recording that he

(03:54):
was leaving, doing a lot of things on his content. Now,
was he doing it for purpose, for his own purposes?
I don't know. I do though, wonder you know, how
in the world he knew where Jin and the team
was at, and how in the world he ended up there,
and how Jesse knew he was walking in at that moment.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
Oh you brought up so many things that I want
to talk about now. Last in the last episode, when
they said that he paid his way, I was like,
I don't know if I believe that.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
And.

Speaker 2 (04:24):
They really emphasized it, and then I started to it
was like, oh, I guess he really did.

Speaker 3 (04:30):
Maybe he did, but it was he still told them, yes,
this is not a shock to the show. The show.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
Definitely show come on over, but we're not paying for it.

Speaker 3 (04:40):
Yeah, but come on over. We'll make sure that you
get to see Jin. And honestly, Jin handled this as
well as I think you could have. Ashley, did you
think Matthew should have been let back on the show?

Speaker 2 (04:55):
I mean, like I would have left that up to Jen.
I think she made the best decision, which is not
letting him up. I think that the guy probably this
is what happened. They probably just had a reason that
they weren't going to be together. You know, they dated
dated a couple of years ago, and then they like
kind of rekindled something over the past few months, and

(05:19):
there's the allure of him being with the Bachelorette. Like
every lead out there has people from their past that
are watching them be the lead on this show and
be like, holy crap, I could have been with the

(05:39):
Bachelor or the Bachelorette and I missed out on that.
And then all of a sudden, that person has extra
glow around them and it's like, oh, I can't go
on without them. And then in addition, this guy between
you saying that he was documenting on social media, I
think he just also like like a TV moment.

Speaker 3 (06:02):
Yeah, I mean, it feels good, right your ex is
now on television you have this kind of romanticized idea
of what this could be probably and you say I'm
gonna go do it, And quite honestly, like Matt did
it well. He walked in with confidence, he handled it well.
I actually, like you said, it's Jen made a decision

(06:23):
she made I would say this, outside of everything else
we know about Matt, which isn't a lot, I really
appreciated him coming into the room and being like, hey,
Jen is sending me home. I came here to try
to figure this out, but she really likes the guys
in this room, and so as a result, I'm going home.
I did not, though, love the response from the OG

(06:45):
contestants on how they kind of spoke to him. It
felt like it was very us versus him, which is
a little fair. But when a guy does what he
just did, I feel like there should have been a
warmer welcome of like, hey man, thanks for thanks for
telling us that. Yeah, nice to look.

Speaker 2 (07:03):
Thanks bye.

Speaker 3 (07:04):
It was a little bit of like this bolly outsider mentality,
which I don't like, like Matt's an outsider, you don't
belong here, but it does show and really, for the
first time all season, actually I was questioning this, it
does show that Jen is very happy with her group
of guys. I didn't actually know she was or not
until this moment.

Speaker 2 (07:23):
Yeah, I thought she was definitely going to allow the
him back in, especially based on how they made the
preview look last week. They did a great job with
that preview. Let's just say also about Matt, I felt like,
I feel like everybody has that person in their past
right that even if they don't become the lead, some

(07:45):
there's just distance between you. Guys say you like you
go to different schools and then you start thinking like,
oh did I I miss out on that chance, and
you totally romanticize it. So like I understand having to
go through that and seeing like if there was one
last chance. I'm wondering though, just because the previews again

(08:09):
are making it seem like this, like she doesn't pick anyone.
What if in her head Matt lingers.

Speaker 3 (08:17):
Hmm, right. I mean, I wouldn't be shocked. They came
to my mind watching the previews that I would not
be surprised if we find out that Matt and Jen
are actually trying to make this thing work, because he
was kind of this figure now that she was curious
about there's so much we don't know about the relationship.
It felt very tongue in cheek, even while they were

(08:38):
talking to each other about things said and unset.

Speaker 2 (08:41):
Oh, that was the other thing we have to talk
about that. Did he ever say I love you? I
don't know, because she said that she's never heard I
love you before when she was talking who said that?
Who said that to her? This episode? Was it Devon?

Speaker 3 (09:01):
It might have been Devon.

Speaker 2 (09:04):
Somebody said like, I'm falling in love with you and
then she was like, oh, yeah, I was on the
one on one with Devine. He said like, I'm falling
and she goes, oh, my gosh, I've never like heard
somebody say that they're falling for me before. But Matt
goes and says that he had said that before.

Speaker 3 (09:20):
It's interesting. There's just feels it feels like this could
have been messy, like there could have been a lot
brought up that was not brought up based on, you know,
his quick appearance. It just felt like they were kind
of looking at each other and I could be just
assuming things, which I typically am. It almost looked like
Jen was looking at Matt being like, please don't say

(09:42):
too much and Matt was looking at Jim and being like,
do you want me to really talk about our past? Yes,
that's what I felt.

Speaker 1 (09:51):
Ben.

Speaker 2 (09:51):
You just said it so well, especially what happened with
for the past couple of months, because I'm pretty sure
it was probably between the Bachelor season becoming the Bachelorette
that they like, she should became friendly again. But I
think that they probably were.

Speaker 3 (10:09):
And I don't even judge. There's no like, there's nothing
wrong with that. So if anybody's out there like, how
in the world could she date between shows, like, well,
it's been three months, four months, she's single. Why wouldn't
she if she didn't meet her future husband during that time,
then please go off and be the bachelorette. And she
obviously doesn't feel like she met her future husband because
the only guy that we know might have been in

(10:30):
that time period was Matt, who she sent home once
he arrived.

Speaker 2 (10:33):
Yeah, and they brought up the weddings because she was like,
you went to the weddings without me, because obviously they
were intending for her to be the date at these weddings,
but then she began the Bachelorette.

Speaker 3 (10:47):
Yeah, there was just a lie. I just felt it
in her eyes, like, hey, Matt, please don't mess me
over here, like this is gonna be This could get
a lot messier than what I want and what you want.
And at the end of the day, you're not my guy,
and so you need to go home. So he did,
and he spoke to the men. The men handled it
like children, in my opinion, and then the rose ceremony happens.
The rose ceremony is right off the beginning of this episode.

(11:10):
Not a big shock here. Honestly, this was kind of
what I expected. If you would have said, what's the
odds on favorite to go home during this row ceremony?
I would have one hundred percent picked Thomas to be
that guy.

Speaker 2 (11:22):
Absolutely, Thomas was the only one on my list to
go home from this batch.

Speaker 3 (11:27):
He felt like the guy that was there. He was
kind of causing some he was stirring up the pot
a little bit, but that's kind of ended. And now
at this point his connection with Jen is not there.
His role kind of the stir of the pot is gone.
So Thomas going home was not a shock to any
of us. We still have an episode in front of us,

(11:56):
full of dates and one on ones, and so we
start out with the first one on one of the week,
and it's Jonathan and Jin. Jonathan is somebody that you've
been a fan of since the beginning.

Speaker 2 (12:11):
So cute, and now you like him too. You get it.

Speaker 3 (12:14):
I get it. I thought he was really great. I
thought their date felt like it felt natural. Now I
think viewership could watch him be like, hey, that was
like forced fun, like the producers like you guys should
throw berries at each other or whatever that was.

Speaker 2 (12:30):
Then I was thinking the same thing. I was like,
I'm so glad I'm not the bachelorette at this moment,
because this would be the most awkward date ever where
they're like, Okay, Ashley, just go run in the field
with him, like there's no actual activity here, just yeah,
just frolic.

Speaker 3 (12:46):
Yeah, you guys just telecoptered into a place that you
guys are supposed to watch, Dude, I don't know, have
fun and it's like okay. But outside of even the
forced fun and probably some nudging, I do feel like
they actually enjoyed themselves and that they made this forced
fun actually fun and silly and enjoyable for them. But

(13:07):
I know exactly what was happening. They're like Jin talk
about how Jonathan brings out your goofy side, and she's
like he does. And then they're like, Jonathan, talk about
how fun you how much fun you have a gin,
And that's all they wanted. They just wanted to show
that the two of them have a lot of charisma together.
But the most important point out of all of this

(13:28):
is if somebody is making you have forced fun, if
they are forcing you into some activity that feels super
awkward and goofy, if you have a partner that you
can do it with and actually make it enjoyable or
at least not make it awkward that you're both like,
n all right, let's go for it. I do feel
like that shows a compatibility. Okay, yeah, it's a lot

(13:49):
better than being with someone you're like, this is so terrible,
Like this person's a bump on the log. They're not
going to enjoy any of this now, They're going to
make it awkward, or they're going to get mad that
we're supposed to be throwing things at each other and
playing in Hide and Go Seek. No, I think they
both like owned it and did it, and they were
good partners to each other in the midst of that,
And it made me like it made me like malt,
I do feel like he is at the top of

(14:10):
my list when it comes to connections with.

Speaker 2 (14:13):
Jen He's top four. Now I think I can safely
put him in my top four.

Speaker 3 (14:18):
He's top two for me, oh top two.

Speaker 2 (14:21):
Oh yeah, see he's in my top two as in favorites.
But I don't know that he's in the top two
in Gen's favorites.

Speaker 3 (14:27):
We'll talk about that later, but that's an interesting statement.

Speaker 2 (14:30):
So what he did was they're sitting in the hot
tub and he was like, obviously we're great at like
giggling together, but do we like have a deeper emotional connection.
And at that moment, I was like, oh, is he
going to be eliminated in this episode, on this one
on one because they can't get deeper. But it was
absolutely the opposite. At dinner when he talked about he

(14:55):
talked about his dad wasn't really in the picture and
that his mom him very young, and he felt like
he needed to be strong and stable for him and
the sisters and not very vulnerable and emotional, and they
really found common ground there.

Speaker 3 (15:13):
Just his openness. I think oftentimes when you watch this
and somebody opens up and it is important to do
on one on one date. It's not something that should
ever be shied away from, especially if you're trying to
date this person because you don't know how many opportunities
you get. It just felt like, again, I'll go back
to this compatibility, this comfort, this ability for the two

(15:37):
of them to actually have a conversation that is tough
and both reciprocate not only with empathy relatability, but just
in this way that You're like, this looks like a
real date to me. This is not you know, this
isn't a one sided date. Jen is also participating in
the conversation. She's not just a listener here. She is

(15:57):
actually like, the two of them really feel like that.
That's why I say he goes it to my top two,
because it feels like the two of them this date
really skyrocket him for that. Now, granted, he and I
will say, there is something about getting the hot tub
in the middle of nowhere date. I do think that
gives him with some legitimacy. I think that's a big deal.

Speaker 2 (16:15):
Isn't there something there like Bachelor data has that did
you have a hot tub date with somebody on your season?

Speaker 3 (16:24):
Lauren?

Speaker 2 (16:25):
Oh? Really? Look at that, so there is something there.
No wonder why he's in your top two yeats the
stats here, okay. And then there was the kissing in
the rain, which was fake rain.

Speaker 3 (16:37):
Oh that was rain. Yeah, there's a lot of rain
this episode. I totally forgot about that.

Speaker 2 (16:41):
What other rain? Well, yeah, because it was if you
look at the ground, it was only raining on them.
And I think it was supposed to be their rom
com moment because they were talking about wow, you know,
wanting a love like you see in romance movies.

Speaker 3 (16:56):
Yeah. I mean this whole date felt very good to me.
I really enjoyed it. I like Jonathan. I think he's
very into gen and I think he's does this make sense,
He's just the appropriate amount into Jen. He's not like
overwhelmed and like, oh my gosh, my world is falling
down around me.

Speaker 2 (17:13):
He's not a sam n He's.

Speaker 3 (17:15):
Not a sam in. No, he's not freaking out. He
just feels like this could go a long ways or
some longevity to this relationship.

Speaker 2 (17:23):
He feels safe to me.

Speaker 3 (17:25):
He feels safe is a good word. Now. I don't
know if safe is the one at the end, I
think she'll have to decide, does she want safe or
does she want a risk or maybe she doesn't want anybody.
I'm just gonna be confused at this point why Jonathan
would ever go home. It feels like everything is kind
of aligning for those two to really work.

Speaker 2 (17:43):
Okay, because I think she's gonna find I think she
might go with more of a passion.

Speaker 3 (17:49):
Was she loves the passion, which we see in the
final one on one. But before we get to the
final one on one, we do have a group date.
The group date card says this love is messy, and
it was, and it is and Devin, Sam Marcus, Spencer, Jeremy,
Dylan Austin all go on this day. I loved this
group date. I thought it was the perfect group.

Speaker 2 (18:10):
Date, best group date. You know how I usually pick
up my phone and scroll during group dates when there's activities.
This was so fun. Take him to the farm, have
them shovel poop, having them shepherd the sheep was awesome.

Speaker 3 (18:25):
Great.

Speaker 2 (18:25):
The guys seem like they just really had a good
time with it, no complaints. Great. I mean, was Devin
the greatest farmer again? I don't know. Definitely. I don't
think like anybody stood out as the best farmer.

Speaker 3 (18:37):
And that was just a that was definitely foreseen. Yeah,
I could see that Devin was, you know there, he
was being pulled aside to the you know it's that
still that kind of narrative of Devon has a target
on his back, Devon's taking hair, of stealing all the time,
all that stuff. I think that's overplayed though at this point.
I don't know why it still exists in episode five,
because this is such a turning point episode. Usually each season,

(19:00):
episode five is where we start to get more serious
with most relationships, where the like conversations about who's good
and whose bad kind of ends, or at least if
it still continues. Then next week's the two on one
and one of those people end up going home, Devin's.
I don't think what we see much more of this,
but Devin does win more time with Gen, which we

(19:20):
don't really see a lot of, if any at all.

Speaker 2 (19:23):
Make out.

Speaker 3 (19:24):
They just kind of make out, which is cool. Good
they both wanted it, especially after shoveling poop all day.
But I love this group date because I think for contestants,
it took a lot of pressure off of them. It
took a lot of pressure off of Gin, and it's
fun to go to these new countries and do something
that maybe you would never have done in the United States.
There's not like farms that you can just call up
and be like, hey, can I come over and shovel

(19:44):
your your poop and like, you know, shave your sheet
for a bit. No, that's not a deal. So it's
cool that they get to do that there. They probably learn.

Speaker 2 (19:52):
Something dingleberries, how to take off dingle berries.

Speaker 3 (19:55):
I think it's great. So what a great group date,
what a great idea from the show to do. It
was enjoy to watch, and it was also enjoyable to
see how these guys kind of reacted to it. They
all want to you know, some of them were you know,
digging in literally and others of them were like, hey,
not my deal, and I don't really get involved in
this kind of stuff. So great group date. Really enjoyed it.

(20:16):
But it does lead us then into the night portion
of the date, which Devin is still a part of it.
All the other guys are a part of as well.

Speaker 2 (20:23):
And so this is where Austin decides to leave. And
I felt like this was an ego move. So Austin
to me has been I mean, I like him I
think he's cute, right, but he's been feeling like he's
under the radar, not getting a one on one, not

(20:43):
getting attention, having his relationship not compared to the other guys.
He says, he feels like he steps and steps below
the other guys. And when he goes up to her
and says that he's leaving, it feels to me like
he wanted to dump her before she dumped him.

Speaker 3 (21:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (21:01):
Right, And there was no reasoning besides that to me.

Speaker 3 (21:05):
No, I just felt like he had gotten in his
own head and had said, hey, I'm not the one,
and he probably isn't. And so if he wanted to
go on home, go home and is on his own accord, great.
I don't think it's really how this is all supposed
to play out, but I don't. I also think if
he was in the top choices for her, she could
have convinced him. She didn't try any convincing. She more
like when internal and was like, what am I doing

(21:27):
wrong here? Why are these guys not into me?

Speaker 2 (21:29):
It was like a girl, it's not that guys aren't
into you, it's that like he just he just felt
his ego was bruised because he wasn't getting probably the
attention that he does back at home, and he just
didn't want to be He just didn't want to be
sent home by you, So he made the first move
to not be crazy. But like, also, do you think

(21:50):
that the producers knew that, like if a guy went home,
especially without much reasoning, that it was really going to
f with her psyche, which it did and her so
of worth and so they're like, hey, let's like, let's
make her feel something here for a second.

Speaker 3 (22:06):
Happened to me, Yeah, happened to me during the Bachelor season.
Uh one, I had, you know, two people go home
early on on their own, and then in the Bahamash, everybody,
all the girls got mad at me because they felt
like I was spending too much time giving attention to
a few of the girls that were definitely in the top.
They weren't wrong about their criticism adjustment. But then they

(22:28):
were all like, I'm going home because if this is
if you're done with me or if I'm not even
in consideration, I'm going home. And it did. It messed
with me bad. I remember being like, I don't think
I can save this. Every one of these girls is
going to be going home, and I'm going to be
sitting here being like I'm the only bachelor at week
six to lose all of them at once, which wouldn't
have been a shock to me. I was just like
I thought the show was supposed to protecting from this,

(22:51):
go to messing with your psyche. It humbles you, but
it also makes you refocus a lot on Hey, maybe
I am not giving attention to some of these guys
and I do want them or need them to be here.
It's good for everybody, and so I need to start,
you know, caring for them a little more.

Speaker 1 (23:09):
So.

Speaker 3 (23:09):
Yes, I think the show is like this is perfect.
Go ahead, Austin, go home. Tell you're going home, doesn't
bother us at all. Let's shake gin up a bit,
get her refocused.

Speaker 2 (23:20):
And the reaction she gets from the guys is actually wonderful.
She goes in and she tells them how she's feeling
about how she's like worried about being worthless. There's a
lot in this episode that you can just tell that,
like her dad leaving the family really direct her to

(23:41):
the core. Yeah, and it really did have her choose
the wrong guys once she started getting to the dating
age and all that, but these guys like kind of
go around in a circle, and I feel like it
was unprompted, at least I like to think that it
was unprompted sharing about how like they have felt similarly
to her before.

Speaker 3 (24:01):
Yeah, it was. It was a great moment, and I
do think they all stepped up. There is one thing
about the group date that we haven't talked about that
I want to talk about. What's the guy's name that
was petting her head, Jeremy? How is he still there?

Speaker 2 (24:14):
I thank you. He's the only one when we look
around the circle that I'm like, yeah, I don't get
that one.

Speaker 3 (24:23):
It's like, I mean, this guy, I'm sure he's a
nice guy, he's looking whatever, but like we haven't seen
any moments with him in gine. In fact, every moment
we have seen has been pretty awkward. I mean this literally,
I was watching this was like he's just petting her hair,
like just smacking the back of her head's and I
liked it. Jen was like, what are you doing? Are
you petty?

Speaker 2 (24:41):
But like I think that I kind of like like
each other in the sense that there is like that
playfulness where she's like, why are you petting me? He's
definitely the next to go. Like he does not survive
next week.

Speaker 3 (24:52):
Yeah, that would be shocked if he did. But maybe
there is the playfulness, maybe there is the comfort. I
don't know what you call it, but it was a
weird moment. And I was shocked that Dylan went home
above him. But that's, you know, something we can talk
about later.

Speaker 2 (25:04):
That that's a good point, man.

Speaker 3 (25:07):
Yeah, kind of shocked. We do have the Grant and
Gen date. This was a massive date for many reasons, right,
Grant came out of the limo as one of the favorites.
He definitely stood out. He had confidence, he had the

(25:30):
swagger he had.

Speaker 2 (25:32):
Didn't trust him because because the swagger and the looks.

Speaker 3 (25:36):
But he's grown on me a lot. Especially this episode.
He growed me a lot. We saw him kind of
bring his guard down and actually talk you know him,
And we were saying Grant and Sam kind of had
this same same thing going where it felt like they've
spoken movie lines for a bit. But this episode we
could see so much of Grant where he actually converses
with her and you know, shares his heart, shares his feeling,

(25:58):
shares who he is. And I'm like, this is a
good dude for you. Jen, This is a guy that's
up there now for me, and I wasn't convinced initially.
So walk us through this one on one and at
the end, I want to talk about what you think
this means moving forward?

Speaker 2 (26:14):
Well, this one on one, you know, what did they do?
What was it? Activity? Why don't I remember in activity?
Hold on?

Speaker 3 (26:25):
Do you remember horseback riding?

Speaker 2 (26:29):
Oh? Okay, So the two of them go horseback riding.
It's cute, it's playful, but it's the nighttime portion of
the day where we like feel connected to him because
he starts talking about his dad and now his dad
has been he's been addicted to We're not really one
hundred percent sure, but I know he has an alcohol

(26:49):
problem and he's been rehab over the past, very recently,
and he just came out of rehab and it's the
first time that he that he and his dad have
like connected in a sober way, and he just again
there's the that compatibility or that shared experience and the

(27:10):
fact that he hasn't had a full father figure the
way that she hasn't had a father figure, and we
just we feel depth from him, and I just feel
like he is way more sincere than we thought that
he was.

Speaker 3 (27:26):
Yeah, I think his story was one that so many
people in the audience will probably watch and be like,
I either understand or this helps make you make sense.
You're a wise person, You've been through a lot. You
obviously are somebody that wants to stand beside those who
are hurting. There was a lot there when he was
speaking about his experience with his father that just felt

(27:48):
like for me personally, I said, I want to watch
more of this guy. I want to learn more about him.
There's so much now to uncover. And I really appreciated
this date. I think these two one on ones this
episode were absolutely incredible when it comes to connections moving forward,
and when I ask you the question, what do you

(28:09):
think this means moving forward? What I was getting to
is because in my eyes, and maybe it's just a
recency bias that I have, Jonathan and Grant are my
top two for her.

Speaker 2 (28:20):
Really, yeah, I think they could be a smart top
two for her, but I don't think they'll be her
top two.

Speaker 3 (28:30):
It's that's I mean, that's why I was so curious
when you said that Jonathan now steaks into the top four.
I was like, all right, he's either one or two
grant him or you know, going back and forth. We're
gonna again. We'll talk more about that as the episode
ends here and as we stop our recording, because we
go through our top fours, but obviously somebody not in
the top four is well the person that goes home

(28:51):
from the rose ceremony. This episode, we don't have a
cocktail party. You know, Jen already knows what she's going
to do, which is kind of shocking considering how it plays.
She ends up sending Dylan home, which for me was
a shock. I don't feel like we got to see
enough of Dylan. He seemed to be very well liked
in the house. He seemed to have a lot of

(29:12):
friends in the house, and he also, at least episode
one I think it was it felt like he was
kind of a main character and gonna definitely make some
waves here during the season.

Speaker 2 (29:23):
I know, the only other guy who didn't have a
one on one in this group is Jeremy, So I
really thought I was gonna be between him and Jeremy,
and you know, I guess what it comes down to,
it doesn't really matter. They're both going to go home.
But it was just unfortunate. I think that Dylan and
her didn't connect just because he just seemed like such

(29:44):
a good stand up guy and they're both in the
medical field, and who knows, who knows why it wasn't there,
but it wasn't there. And if we are going to
go into what we think is going to happen, there's
a little spoiler in the since the next episode, and
that is you see her with Devon in front of

(30:05):
a home and it's definitely not like a mansion or
anything like that. It is it's just an American home.

Speaker 3 (30:13):
Yeah, so we can assume he makes the hometowns.

Speaker 2 (30:15):
He makes it to hometowns, And I guess that's not
a huge spoiler. That's like probably something they could put
in there because he's just been such a prominent character.

Speaker 3 (30:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (30:23):
Yeah, So I think that we can both put Devon
in our top four because it's basically in front of
her eyes. Yeah, and then I'm going to put Sam,
and then I'm gonna put Jonathan. Then my like, hmm,
the person who I think can be who do I
think can be in there? Who's like my up in

(30:46):
the air dude. I guess we could put Grant in there.

Speaker 3 (30:51):
You've always liked Marcus Marcus.

Speaker 2 (30:54):
There we go, Thank you. Marcus. Marcus is going to
get in there over Grant for me.

Speaker 3 (30:59):
So it's her aunt and Jonathan Marcus for me and
then Devin. I think that's my top four.

Speaker 2 (31:06):
So you don't have Sam in there. No, you think
that she's gonna get over Sam in the next week. Yeah,
that would mean that Sam gets eliminated next week.

Speaker 3 (31:14):
I think he gets eliminated next week.

Speaker 2 (31:17):
Why you are just saying this for interest?

Speaker 3 (31:20):
I think it's just coming. It has to come at
some point, especially with all of the stuff online that's
been happening, you know, with his family kind of commenting
on their relationship and you know, making the statement that
Jin's going to look like an idiot and all this.

Speaker 2 (31:35):
I've been in baby world, tell me what this is about.

Speaker 3 (31:38):
On Instagram, his family has been commenting on his pictures
in defense of him, especially when the weeks were going
on where you know, people weren't reacting well to him
and they just said, just wait till how this plays out.

Speaker 2 (31:51):
But that makes me feel like they met her.

Speaker 3 (31:53):
Yeah they could. I don't know, it could. I just
don't have I just can't put him in my top
four because I just don't think it plays out well.
And those guys I still think have a chance. I
think they still have a chance to be there next
week and the week after and the week after. The
four I mentioned I think could be the Hometown four.
That's my prediction right now. I have no idea, but
it is my prediction right now. I do think Grant

(32:15):
will be there because of this really sweet moment we
see with him and Marcus, and it just says a
lot about Marcus I think. I mean, Grant definitely had
his episode, this was a big episode for him, but
telling Marcus like I'm falling.

Speaker 2 (32:27):
For her, oh yeah.

Speaker 3 (32:30):
And him trusting Marcus with that information and then say
hey man, can we not? Can we not really like
share this with the group and he's like, I won't
do that. Man. That is just like that reminded me
of my time on the Bachelorette with some of those guys,
like with a Jared, where I could be like, Hey, Jared,
I know this is weird. I know this whole thing
doesn't make any sense, it's all crazy, But can I
talk to you? Because I haven't had anybody else to

(32:51):
talk to her. I just need to talk to somebody
I trust, even if this is weird, and like, those
are the moments now I look back on him like
those were some of my favorites because it you know,
it was the best of guys that you choose to
want to do that with, and Jared was definitely one
of those for me.

Speaker 2 (33:05):
He remembers this time with you in the sauna.

Speaker 3 (33:07):
Sauna. Yeah, we said a sona for three hours just
talking about stuff, so we know they can have mics
in there.

Speaker 2 (33:15):
Yes. Oh, thank you for bringing that moment up to
the two of them. It was really sweet and seeing
him cry over feeling love that totally changed my opinion
on him.

Speaker 3 (33:28):
Yeah, I mean, and that's what I'm saying. Those two
are those two are far beyond in my eyes, and
it's interesting that they're not in yours.

Speaker 2 (33:36):
Oh, Marcus is and I would hate to see him
leave next either of them leave next week, which I'm
saying that it would, but we'll see. Okay, I have
to say, can I give you my prediction, Yes, especially
after you tell me about the family's comments. Yes, I
think it's going to go down to Sam and Devin,

(33:58):
and I think that the family is referring to something
that she does in the end, which is like, either
don't propose to me, or it's just she's the pick
No One and they're gonna be like, look, she screwed
him over. And I think that in getting down between
sam and and Devin, who both have like some you know,

(34:20):
it wasn't so prevalent during this episode, but have had
tension before and they're both alphas, gonna it would just
be really good TV.

Speaker 3 (34:30):
It'll be a Nick Vile shambo.

Speaker 2 (34:32):
That's what it is. It's either Nick Vile and sham
booth or it's Nick and Josh.

Speaker 3 (34:38):
Oh. Yeah, from previous He's interesting. It happened twice for
Nick's I never thought about that way. Roa cumony happens.
Dylan does go home. As we mentioned, we have the
preview Ashley's mentioned it. We do see Devin kind of
standing in front of door. It makes us assume he's there,
at least through hometowns. There's a lot of tears, there's

(34:58):
a lot of cutting and pasting here. We don't exactly
know what happens. But the one thing I think Ashley
and I would stand firm on is we still both
believe she doesn't end up with anybody at the end
of the season.

Speaker 2 (35:10):
Yeah, But now that they're teasing that so much, do
you think they're just trying to throw us off?

Speaker 3 (35:14):
No, I think it's one hundred percent what's going to happen.

Speaker 2 (35:16):
I don't why Why are they going to tease it
so much? Why want they just make it a real surprise, because.

Speaker 3 (35:22):
I think they're almost thinking it's like reverse psychology. Yeah,
like if you tease it, they'll never believe it. Kind
of that, I think because for so many years they've
teased things and it's never happened. Remember we complained here.
We're like, it's they're going to lose a trust the
viewers if they keep doing this. I think they probably
listen to the almost famous podcasts. They trust our opinions,
and they're like, now we're going to actually build in
the trust of the viewership by actually doing what we

(35:44):
say we're going to do.

Speaker 2 (35:45):
Yeah, And sometimes that is the best way to end
the season dramatically. Is like when you watch a movie
where like somebody there's some murder and then the murder
ends up being the one that was obvious the entire time.
That's the actual twist.

Speaker 3 (35:59):
Yeah, actual twist. I think that's how it plays out. Well,
we have more exciting episodes coming your way. We still
have headlines coming out this week. Obviously. This is episode
five of the Bachelorette season where Jin is leading and leading, well,
she's actually crushing it. She's a great bachelorette. She's so
very likable, and I just I hope no matter what,
she finds some happiness. I just don't know where or

(36:20):
when it's gonna happen. I don't think it happens from
the show. But Gin has been awesome and we look
forward to next week episode six breaking it down with
you right here, you know, wherever you can listen to
the podcast, especially the iHeartRadio app, make sure you go
