Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's Jesse and Tati in the morning and let's get
into your two cents, especially since you said it connects
to that song. All right. So there was a time
in my life where I was the man I needed.
I was the man I needed as a single parent.
I needed to show up for me. I needed to
help my kid. I was dad and mom. And I
got so used to that, that when I finally found
the man I need, I pushed him so far to
the side and said, don't you worry. I got this.
(00:22):
I'm a fighter. I'm a survivor. I'm going to lead.
I'm going to take charge. And I would not give
him an inch into helping me because I I was
so proud of being the man I needed. I was both.
I held that thing like it was my headline. Like what?
I did this all by myself and I could continue
to do this all by myself. I don't need you.
I want you. But I held on so much to
(00:42):
that story that I did not allow my husband to
actually be the man I need. Match my energy. I
didn't ask him for any communication. I was like, I'll talk.
You listen. I didn't ask him to truly show up.
So that song right there talks about, you know, being direct.
asking your partner to match your energy, asking them to
communicate openly. And I'm so thankful for my husband because
(01:04):
in these times of transition, and when I say in
these times of transition, all our kids are going back
to school. And these are weird times for our kids.
They say that 75% of high school students and half
of middle school students are stressed out about being back
in school, the schoolwork, the school load, the anxiety is
a lot. So they're saying, you know what, with the kids,
there's an ABC method. Are you ready, parents? Here we go. Transitioning.
(01:25):
anticipate the transition make sure you're talking to your kids
that's you or your husband or both of you that's
what you need two people build skills for success help
them come up with practical ways to manage school stress
and feel more in control get them organized and see
connect with the school and not like jesse you and
i have talked about this before not like hovering over
(01:46):
every assignment needs to be turned in and checking grades
incessantly not like that mental health wise, check in with
your kids, make time to talk to them and say,
how was school? Did something bring you joy today? Did
something make you laugh? Ask them kids, ask them questions
that are not just how was school today? Ask questions
that are a little more in depth so that they
can kind of think about and unpack their day. Because
(02:08):
while you talked about Jesse, a BDJ, which is a
brain dump journal, our kids maybe won't be doing a
brain dump journal at night. That's just not what they do, right?
But you are their brain dump journal. When you make
time for them, and make space for them. That's my
two cents. Take it or leave it. Thanks, Tati. Are
