Speaker 1 (00:00):
So Tati, my daughter, Savannah is applying for lots of
jobs right now. And she's applying for this one job
that asked her to do a, um, like a, like
a project. They were like, we need you to pitch
us a whole thing.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
And I'm like, wow.

Speaker 3 (00:11):
Well, when you said presentation, I was very impressed because
I was like, she's making a presentation.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
So she, she tells us, she's like, so this is where.

Speaker 1 (00:20):
I, you know, it's like you're, you're in the room
and she's like engaged and she's talking to us, my
wife and I, and she's like, okay, so I made
this presentation. And I'm waiting for my wife or am
I going to say like, well, can we see it?
But none of, we don't say it.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
We don't say that. Right.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
And she just goes, actually, do you mind if I
pull it up on the TV? And I'm like, yeah,
you can show us your presentation on the TV.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
Sure. I don't, you know, you don't want to pry.

Speaker 1 (00:42):
Of course I wanted to see it, but you can't
ask your kid to see it.

Speaker 3 (00:46):
You want it to be their idea. They're 24 years old.
So it's, it's, you want them to be like, yeah,
let me show you. I want to show you like
they want to show you.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
We get it up on the screen. And it starts going, right?

Speaker 1 (00:56):
And it's the first page and the title page and
gets about the third page, lots of text on the
third page. And I'm like, wow, that's a lot to read.
I feel like I'm at a meeting at work. And
so she starts reading.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
It, right?

Speaker 1 (01:06):
And she reads all the way through the page, a
lot of words. And then the next page comes up
and it's a lot of words. And now I'm like,
how much reading am I in for here tonight on
the couch?

Speaker 2 (01:18):
Goodness.

Speaker 1 (01:20):
This is old dad stuff right here.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
This is stuff I used to do back in the day.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
Yes, you're about to activate on how that might not
be the best presentation because it's too long. And if
I'm already feeling like it's long-winded, it might be too long-winded.

Speaker 2 (01:31):
Right, right.

Speaker 1 (01:32):
And so then she gets to the next page and
she starts reading. My daughter's reading me her presentation that
she's going to be submitting to this place that she's
applying to. She starts reading it and the words are
on the tip of my mouth. All I'm going to
say and what I want to say is you don't
have to.

Speaker 2 (01:46):
Read me the whole entire thing. I get it. This
is something, Tati, I would have said to her when
she was like a teenager. I would have.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
I remember saying things like this to my daughter Savannah
back then. Kind of like in the middle of her
momentum of showing me something awesome.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
Your impatience. My impatience cannot be, you know. Um, you're
absolutely right. This is a dad thing.

Speaker 3 (02:10):
And so my husband will do it. Sometimes I'd be like, well,
you just be patient. Goodness.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
And so then I look at the bottom of the screen.
Cause remember my, my daughter has shared her presentation onto
the TV screen and we're going through it and it
says we're on page three of 17.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
Right.

Speaker 1 (02:23):
And she's just reading through and I'm thinking I'm going
to be here all night.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
Yes. And did you get up and make popcorn instead
of saying anything? Tati?

Speaker 1 (02:32):
I shut my dad mouth up and said nothing. And
when she clicked to the next slide, the fourth page,
it had no writing.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
It was all pictures. See? The next page, all pictures. Oh,
my gosh.

Speaker 3 (02:43):
Could you imagine if you said something at the third page?

Speaker 2 (02:46):
That's what I'm saying. I almost ruined a night. It
was awesome.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
My daughter was bringing us into her world. And letting–
and I almost screwed it up by just being normal
dad and wanting to say the dad things that I
do with my impatience or whatever.

Speaker 2 (03:03):
And oh my god, I'm so glad I did not
do that.

Speaker 3 (03:05):
Well, I know it doesn't matter that I'm proud of you.
Are you proud of you?

Speaker 2 (03:10):
Hell yes. When she slipped to the fourth page with
all pictures, I was like, bro, way to shut your mouth.

Speaker 3 (03:15):
Yeah, you did that, dad.

Speaker 1 (03:17):
Oh, and so she felt like she came in and
shared an experience and she's pumped up for it. And
we're all with her in support and nothing about like,
but dad was so annoying when I was showing him
my presentation.

Speaker 2 (03:26):
Yeah. She doesn't everything like that. It really is a gift.

Speaker 3 (03:29):
It's a gift to give when you can just shut
up and allow people to do what they need to do.
And good or bad, your kids, good or bad.

Speaker 2 (03:38):
I want you to do that.

Speaker 1 (03:39):
Yes.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
So that's my parenting story, and I'm sticking to it.
Love you, Savannah.

Speaker 3 (03:44):
Free gifts, guys, that you can give. Parents, free gifts.
You can just shut up.

Speaker 2 (03:48):
Just a little bit of quiet.
